pjo soulmate au:
soulmate au where everyone has the name of their soulmate written on them, but it’s just their soulmate’s last name
when piper and leo first met, they became fast friends. part of this was to do with them getting along so well, but another part was due to them having the same soulmark. they would always joke around about it, wondering if they either shared this ‘grace’ person of if they’d be with siblings
turns out, the latter was true… but they guessed the wrong sibling
the moment they met (or rather ‘met’) jason and learned his last name, piper immediately assumed he was the one, and leo jokingly asked if he had a hot sister. when they ended up meeting the hunters much later, while on the quest, leo was very happy to find out that jason did, in fact, have a very beautiful, cool, badass older sister. the only downside was that she swore off dating
so, if they both found their soulmates, why didn’t things feel… right?
meanwhile, for years, jason was both worried and excited to meet whoever this ‘valdez’ he was fated to be with. he was anxious about it, worried about being enough for whoever his soulmate would end up being. he wasn’t expecting someone like leo. he also wasn’t expecting to wake up on a bus with amnesia and the news that he’s dating his soulmate’s best friend. he wasn’t sure what to do in this situation. piper did have his name on her… was he both of their soulmates? was one platonic and the other romantic? sure, he began to like piper… but his feelings for leo were so… different. stronger. leo made him feel… strange. he made him feel safe. he wasn’t sure when he last felt that way. he wasn’t sure how to deal with all this on top of his amnesia
thalia wasn’t a hopeless romantic. she wasn’t like annabeth, who told her in soft whispers that she dreamed of meeting this jackson, hoping they would stay with her unlike her parents. however, she also wasn’t like luke, who burned his own mark beyond recognition after finding out hermes was his mom’s soulmate. rather, she was looking forward to meeting her supposed second half, but she didn’t let it control her life. she simply took care of her friends, became a tree, went on a quest, then became a hunter, thinking she would never meet this person as the years went by. after all, she learned post-tree that ‘mclean’ wasn’t a very common name, and was the last name of a very popular (and handsome) actor. she didn’t like the idea of a man old enough to be her father being her soulmate, so she tried not to think about it. then she met piper mclean, the actor’s daughter, who was even more breathtaking and stunning than him. she met her soulmate… who was infatuated with her baby brother. now she was in a pickle. does she tell the truth, or just forget about, letting the two be together while she forgets all about the girl and continues being a hunter? or does she come clean and see where this takes them? also what’s with her baby brother keeping that leo guy close to him? what’s with the looks he shoots him, the comfort he finds in the other guy?
why the fuck did aphrodite have to toss them a such a complex soulmate situation?

Escaped clone au
You know all those fics where Danny and Damian are twins but everyone first assumes Danny must be a clone? How about an au where Danny is Damian's clone who escaped the League after he was assumed dead. Damian could even have been the one to have "killed" him, back when Danny was a newly created, fully brainwashed clone minion and trying to kill Damian himself.
Danny gets adopted by the Fentons and canon goes on as normal, until Dan. Witnessing what would happen to the world should he turn evil really drove home to Danny how dangerous he is.
Even if he was confident he could be trusted with his absurd amount of power (which he isn't), what if the League of Assassins found out about him? Does he still have programming triggers from his evil assassin clone conditioning?
So, Danny does the responsible thing: he goes to Batman to turn himself in.
Cue Danny showing up on Bruce's doorstep with ghost hunting equipment, intel on the afterlife, and an almost unbelievable backstory. Somehow he still managed to be more well-adjusted than Damian.
More thoughts under the read more
Here's how I'm thinking Danny leaving the League went down:
After surviving his wounds but failing his mission, Danny (then an unnamed potential Damian replacement) knew there was no point in returning to the League. As a failure, he was meant to be disposed of. He even thought of simply allowing himself to perish, since that was what the League would do.
But he couldn't help but feel as though that would be a waste of a resource. Surely he could be of more use to the League alive than dead?
That tiny bit of rebellious logic is what caused Danny to go into hiding, only living on based on the off chance he would find opportunities to further the League's goals. Obviously, that mentality didn't last long after being exposed to the real world and meeting one Jazz Fenton.
Being adopted by the Fentons was the best cover Danny could have asked for, since any odd behavior he couldn't hide while he was learning how to be "normal" was totally overshadowed by the sheer bizarre eccentricity of his new parents. He was still the neighborhood weird kid, but even that was a major upgrade from disposable tool, so Danny considered it a win.
Anyway, if anyone likes this idea, please feel free to have at it! Interpret it as you please :)

idk man
(and credit to divorcedfiddleford for the video that inspired the first drawing)
giving additional context for some of these
3rd pic: So I have some very specific thoughts on how the "a better world" stuff all plays out but namely I don't think it was a.... painless or easy process trying to get bill out of both their dimension and ford's head. I think it's better if it's ambiguous
4th: more parallel ford including eye injury detail, he's in his 40's here
5th: okay now I'm really getting off the rails but please god bear with me. along the lines of "things probably didn't get easier right away if bill was still threatening parallel ford" I had this crazy 3 am thought of "oh man what if ford voluntarily had fiddleford erase something from his mind so he could come to terms with it Later when they weren't pressed for time." if the situation was dire enough for ford (say, leaving him unable to sleep or focus on protecting their dimension from bill) I think he could very well have been pushed to use the memory gun. then again maybe I'm insane
6: this is parallel fidds again sorry I'm obsessed with him helping ford build a fucking death ray to destroy bill
8: this has some dialogue I thought about when I was fleshing out jheselbraum for a waaay future ad astra chapter but I ended up cutting it. sad

Have we taken into consideration that perhaps, the reason Merlin does not die, it’s because the Gods don’t want him to? They’ve been playing with him this entire time, and The Cailleach made it clear that even if Merlin wants to die, he can’t, and he cannot change the course of his life. Merlin does not say, “yes” willingly, but rather tests to see if the goddess in front of him knows about his destiny, and her answer proves him right. It’s not because she sees Lancelot going into the veil. It’s because she knows deep down Merlin cannot do anything now. Merlin is more powerful than Gods, and to prevent him to come to this knowledge, they constantly stop him from achieving his destiny.

Why does no one else see my vision for post-war Effie Trinket. Like that woman does NOT become a civil servant, she does not join the ranks of government service. She is 100% New Panem’s first influencer. She was already having her It Girl moment as the escort of District Twelve’s victors beforehand and now there’s public perception that she was this Hunger Games insider playing the long con to dismantle the system from within and paid this great sacrifice for it by being tortured by Snow’s cadre for her efforts. Which is not true at all because she had No Clue what was going on but Plutarch needs new programming to fill all the hours that used to be taken up by Hunger Games related media so he decides to capitalize on Effie having Her Moment. And with people being allowed to travel between districts for the first time in over a generation and newfound freedom of information, there would a nationwide fascination how other people live. Effie ends up with her own lifestyle/travel series where she visits different regions of Panem and even exotic far away places such as “England”. She’s posting beach selfies on Panemstigram to promote her upcoming episode on lobster fishing off District Thirteen’s revitalized coastline.
She even gets her own daytime talk show at one point. She tries (and fails) for years to get Peeta on the show as a guest. Katniss has never watched a single episode.

sally and percy were always each other’s constants, they became a bit more distant once percy found out he was a demigod, but they were still each others firsts
then estelle was born
percy loves estelle so much, so much it physically hurts
but he sees estelle and how happy she is, how she had a mom that doesnt work the night shift nearly every night and instead is home nearly all the time, and she has a dad that’s present and there and is safe and percy is so so happy that she has what he never did
but at the same time he knows thats the exact reason why it hurts
estelle has what percys wanted his whole life
and now estelle has the only thing percy had his whole life
being his mothers first and top priority
he knows why, he understands why, estelle is a baby and needs to be cared for constantly, and percys nearly 18 and doesnt need his mom all the time anymore
but it hurts because all the food is no longer blue, it hurts because he sees estelle grow up and get help, it hurts because he sees estelle with the life he always wanted, but knows he will never had
and it hurts because hes no longer his mother’s constant.
sally has paul now, she has paul to help her through her issues and she has a child that doesnt get expelled from every school shes been in
and percy has his family. but its not the same. annabeth has always been there, but she doesnt understand, thalia has been through the same childhood as percy but she doesnt know what its like to watch the bad go to good in the same household, grover has always listened but he just doesnt understand
because hes happy estelle has the life he always wanted. hes glad his mother has the life she always wanted. but hes not in that life. because hes moving out soon. and hes no longer his mothers son, at least not in the way he was before

for my money, labru is head and shoulders above other ships involving them simply due to the unmatched yap potential, i imagine them feeding off each other's energy like they're slipstreaming in mario kart until they start going fast enough to break the sound barrier

I am going over Murderbot's and ART's first interactions again and it's driving me crazy, so I really need to yell into the void about it.
Alright, so we have ART:
ART, a highly advanced deep space research vessel, who is very attached to its crew and seems to generally do what it's supposed to, especially when not doing so could endanger its mission - but ends up accepting a suspicious looking SecUnit that is lying about being a bot aboard itself. ART is evidently aware that it is directly breaking the rules in doing so. (Aside: How often does ART break the rules?) Why? All for that tempting media package that the SecUnit has to offer?
No.
It was sent off to do some work all alone and got bored and lonely. (I think there are different ways to intepret this, but looking at our super social raised-by-humans loving-its-crew never-shutting-up research vessel, I choose to think that is exactly what it was!)
Anyway, what does ART do now that it has this lying, potentially dangerous rogue SecUnit aboard? It
lets it know that it saw right through its lies and knows exactly what it is
intimidates and threatens it by showing off its own ridiculously extensive superiority (just to be on the safe side ofc)
gets bored after the SecUnit gets too scared to do anything interesting
asks the SecUnit to "stop sulking"
learns that the SecUnit has been through A Lot and seemingly understands how it made it feel and apologizes
gets bored again and starts lurking and harasses convinces the SecUnit to watch media about ships and their crews with it
[gets way too invested and agitated by the media, probably going through its first media-induced emotional crises (but gets through them with the support of the very patient SecUnit)]
tries to have a conversation with the SecUnit to get to know it better
gets offended that the SecUnit is not answering truthfully and won't share sensitive and very private information about itself
lets the SecUnit know it can see through its lies, calling it "inherently inferior" to itself and causing the SecUnit to sulkily shut down for four hours (lol)
immediately calls the SecUnit "unnecessarily childish" upon its awakening four hours later (referring to its own extensive experience with children to really get the point across)
And apparently all of this seemed to be a perfectly pleasant and normal interaction to ART, because:
That's how you make friends, isn't it?!
God, I love ART so so so much and this is SO funny to me! To be fair, I don't think anyone ever really prepared it for an interaction like this. (Probably because its crew did not expect it to pick up a stray rogue SecUnit and try to befriend it).

Fully of the belief that Miko is only seen as an annoying character because of the dynamic between her and Jack.
Miko in isolation isn’t an annoying character. She’s reckless, and unwise, and has to be bailed out of trouble every five seconds, but this isn’t really an issue for any of the bots because as far as they’re concerned, this is Normal Human Behaviour™. They are constantly having to work with and around humans or bail them out of trouble.
Bulkhead adores Miko. He is exasperated by her like a parent is of their toddler, sure, but I wouldn’t say he is annoyed by her in any way. Her interaction with wheeljack is another example. When she exists with the bots by herself, she doesn’t come across as burdensome. She’s just limited, as every human is, by the curse of being small.
It’s only through her interactions with Jack, and his continuous challenging and calling out on her behaviour, that Miko becomes an annoying character. Frankly, it’s the tension between them which annoys the audience. We can only watch the same cyclical bickering between children before it gets old.
I have noticed that there actually are a lot of people who do like Miko, and find Jack super annoying instead. It seems like people pick one or the other depending on how you interpret which one is causing the tension. When I watched tfp as a kid, I loved Miko and hated Jack. Like, hated hated him. Because I saw Miko as a fun punk rock kid and Jack as the one needlessly calling her out. Upon rewatching tfp as an adult (who works with kids a lot) I related far more to Jack, and so the situation flipped; I saw Miko’s actions as more frustrating to watch.
The writers did eventually try to fix this, with the one heart-to-heart scene between Miko and Jack. But it was kind of rushed, and didn’t leave any lasting change to their dynamic. They went right back to arguing.
Tldr: Miko and Jack are annoying together. Fans usually pick one of em as the cause to be annoyed at but honestly, they are both fine on their own. Children bickering is annoying even in a fictional cartoon lmao
