As a high schooler I clung so desperately to those posts about like, “your life will be beautiful once you make it out of the dark, this is not all there is, you will live past the dark years” and I really saw highschool as this great gouge in my life that I would have to one day overcome. It would be a huge period I had lost and I would have to fight to make the rest of my life make up for it, and I believed I would. But now I look back on my life and those ~4 years were so small!! I’m not even 22 yet and already like, the last 3 years of my life have been so much larger than any that came before it! It’s less about my age, and more about the post-graduate life, but still - I have been so incredibly lucky in the past few years, so much so that it has exceeded my high school self’s wildest dreams. And with any luck, I’ll have like 8 more decades of this ahead of me

I just thought of the most hilarious next protagonist of Baldur's Gate saga.

A child any of The Dead Three can lay a claim on because they are:

A child of previous chosen of Bane

A child of Bhaalspawn, a bhaalspawn themselves, albeit striped of that when Bhaal took his essence from Durge, killing them instantly.

DIED before even being born, so clearly Myrkul's subject.

Resurrected by Jergal, so there's ties to that as well.

Can be compelled to follow any of The Dead Three paths, or try to play them and set them against each other, or follow Jergal, or forge their own path.

Essentially a child with no fate.

Can look either as Durge (and be any race Durge presented as) or as Gortash.

The last possibility bringing unique encounters and dialogues and character never knowing they can use being Lord Gortash's child to their advantage or ppl they meet were their father's enemies and they need to dash.

Me musing to myself: how to go about this... I think mizuki still feels, personally, like they could be possibly fem enby, or possibly specifically x-gender, considering the momentary resignation when explaining to that well-meaning classmate in anni4 that yes, she does like wearing 'cool' stuff, just particularly likes wearing cute things, and that absolutely rang to me like 'complicated gender Stuff™ for cis people: intro class analogy 'cause i'm not getting into it'. Also i like how using multiple pronouns in English helps nod to the fact that some things are lost in translation, so it'll be a nice touch to acknowledge some of the unique gender identities that spring up in Japan. So when i write fics i will continue to use both they and she for Mizuki as I feel is right and shift according to how i'm writing for that piec-
