i think it wouldve made more sense if DHORKS had kidnapped via in seeing stars to interrogate her since she doesnt have a human disguise, forcing I.M.P. and stolas to lock tf in, find them and her, battle DHORKS again, but one of the agents could be killed in the fight, (accidentally as a joke even, before blitz is like, "uh, yeah, we- we MEANT to do that!",) with the other left alive as a warning from stolas not to ever put his loved ones in danger again, or else there will be even worse consequences then just being traumatized from the sight of his true demon form and losing their loved ones in return. itd make via forgiving her dad for forgetting about asaroths tears be more understandable too, instead of loona girlboss gaslighting this teen about her justified feelings towards her parents divorce and father. that way, when DHORKS come back in full moon, itd make more sense for the remaining agent to team up with the cherubs so they could BOTH get revenge, and to be taken seriously by the human government enough to get an increase in funding, since they killed one of the people responsible for exposing humans to them to begin with, making them think the demons want to cover their tracks. plus, you could even have that killed agent show up in hell if you wanted to have another goofy antagonist I.M.P. could come across at any given point! maybe even bring them back in apology tour, only for them to try shooting blitz with an angelic gun like they how they resort to gun violence in the chupacbra short. like, i dont need them to be big bads who constantly are involved in the plot. i just want them to MATTER when I.M.P. goes up on earth. one last rewrite/wishful thinking thing but, wouldve loved also if one of them dropped off a kid they were related to at that stupid ass childrens summer camp called "i wanna cum" or something, and then as a joke, have them not recognize moxxie or millies human disguise at all. they talk to them completely straight laced while m&m is internally dying inside and thinking theyre lured into a false sense of security, until the anget(s) says in full sincerity, "and, i hope it aint rude of me to mention, but, so terribly sorry about that poor skin condition of yers! :("

Hiii :) it’s me again, the anon who yapped about fanon Vox, I’m here because I need to yap again: I’m kinda worried about season 2

After rewatching season 1, I felt like the stakes weren’t high enough for Charlie & the Hotel. One would think going into battle against Heaven would be devastating and disastrous but the only characters that permanently died were…background characters. I don’t count Sir Pentious because bro is alive and will most likely have a bigger role to play in the story now that he’s in heaven. The hotel was destroyed, yeah, but like minutes later it was rebuilt with the help of Lucifer.

That’s another reason why I feel like the stakes aren’t high enough, they added Lucifer way too soon. How are Vox & other future villains meant to stand a chance against the King of Hell?? I think it would’ve been better if took Charlie a couple of seasons to convince her dad to help her cause.

My main worries for season 2 are about Vox because I can’t stop thinking about him LMFAO. Anyways, I’m scared Vox will be a second Adam, goofy villain that gets killed off pretty quickly and anti-climactically. Vox was already a silly villain in season 1 (sending Pentious to the Hotel as a spy, cheering when Alastor got his ass beat, etc, etc.) so it’ll feel like a waste if they continue writing him that way. I want Vox to be an actual threat and kill one of the main characters PERMANENTLY. Preferably Angel Dust cause it’ll cause a shit ton of discourse since he’s well-loved by both the characters in-universe and the fandom but I don’t think that’ll happen. I just need Vox to lock in 🙏

Don’t get me wrong, I love Hazbin Hotel (only because of Alastor & the Vees but shhh 🤫) but I want the story to evoke emotions from me, I wanna be anxious, I wanna feel hyped, but I don’t feel any of this when things go too perfectly for the main characters and everything goes wrong for the antagonists.

i definitely feel like theres a Risk of that happening to vox especially since . well. vivz doesnt have the best track record to begin with (cannot speak for hb but the way she deals with some characters and resolves their arcs is. questionable) but i personally think (hope? believe?) that since there are members on the writing and animation team who are fans of the vees that she wont just kill vox off for no reason / comic relief(or any of the vees, really) + also of all the vees vox is probably the most likely to die in a dramatic scene considering how he and al are set up to be character foils and killing him off in the stupidest way would be such a horrific storyline fumble i cannot in good conscience believe that vivziepop would even be able to fathom its stupidity. of course im holding out hope still because if theres one thing ive learnt about the internet its that you do not under any circumstances trust any public figures to make the right decisions ever and this applies to animated shows too.

vox killing someone forever would really manage to cement his place in the storyline as a big baddie, but i do have to disagree on wanting angel dead- personally- and as much as it pains me to say this- i think him killing husk or niffty would have the same effect while not interfering with angels healing arc: in fact itd even further angels healing arc and self discovery, alongside giving alastor a reason to perhaps go toe to toe with vox. (i do think that killing angel off would have an interesting result but it feels like an abrupt and unnecessary move to make, tho it may just be ny preference to want to see recovery arcs fulfilled so those characters can live their best lives)

++re what you said ab the hotel not having enough stakes for the next season, i totally agree- bringing in lucifer feels a bit like a cheap copout and didnt really serve to further **charlies** character arc (arguably you could say making up with her father developed her backbone more but. hm. idk you couldve done that in a multitude of other ways sooo)

yeah im leaning heavily towards starting with icewind dale, i think itd be fun to start with seeing how drizzt is characterized before being designated giga series protagonist, without me already knowing a lot about the gang. but i suspect if i make it through one book at all, i'm going to read at least both of those trilogies eventually.

i've read a bunch of salvatore stuff as a kid (there was a thing with a nerd who lives at a library and then becomes the chosen of god and defeats his father and his father's boss or something? very aspirational. first time i heard "forgotten realms". and another thing with a guy who is raised by sword fairies to basically become aragorn i think. some other stuff. it's inexplicable i never got into drizzt books except maybe the local bookstore hated drow) so i feel like i roughly know what to expect in terms of tropeyness. i was present for i wanna say the latter half? second third? of the dragon heist thing but we didn't engage with jarlaxle much, in my mind he was just an inconvenient antagonist guy and being surprised that y'all are so into him is a good part of why i started paying attention to the drizzt posting. we did want to steal his hat though.

does all the drizzt stuff hold up or does salvatore eventually start phoning it in? is there like ongoing character arc things or do the character arcs happen in the first few books (i hate saying it like this) and the rest is kinda The Further Adventures Of style?

Personally, I think the later books hold up? This is kind of a controversial opinion in some parts of the fandom, and I won't deny that there are parts of the series that wallow a little, but it's not because Salvatore has run out of things to do with the characters, it's because he takes their trauma seriously and sometimes that means spending a while with a character who is straight up not having a good time right now. And this is compounded by the fact that Drizzt is a very young elf at the start of the series; around the middle there's an editorially mandated time skip and Drizzt goes from a traumatized teen who is coping through the Power of Friendship to a traumatized young adult who has outlived most of his mentor figures. There is a definite tone shift, is what I'm saying.

I think they're still really good, and Drizzt does eventually regain his equilibrium. The later parts of the series are also increasingly an ensemble act, with Jarlaxle and Bregan D'aerthe taking more of the spotlight. If you went up against the magnificent bastard (affectionate)(also derogatory) in Dragon Heist, you've had a taste for what it's like to be on the receiving end of his shenanigans, and yeah, that's frustrating. (My WDDH party actually ended up allying ourselves with him, and he still manages to be deeply annoying sometimes.) But he can be really fun to watch work when he's not messing with you, and he's a great foil to Drizzt. A lot of the time Drizzt just wants to be left alone to live a life that's not defined by his origins; Jarlaxle is all about drow solidarity and bringing what he's built with him.

sodachi/tsubasa: this ones a shout out to you. but also. it is very good... i always think of that idea of them bonding over cooking. not only would they be good for each other with each able to provide the kind of support they'd both need, but i think they'd understand each other too. its good 😌

hitagi/ougi: i dont think i would like this one seriously but its just really funny to imagine. araragi crying in the background, ougi being so confused... its so fucking funny

hitagi/tsubasa: i know this one doesnt work bc like the whole point is that its unrequited and all... but i still think its cute. two best friends and they're gay for each other? that's wonderful. i love it.

koyomi/shinobu: weirdly i do like it. wouldnt say i necessarily like it more than the canon koyomi/hitagi but theres something i can appreciate about how theyre stuck immutably together, bonded forever... once koyomi gets older we dont know how his lifespans gonna work, so theres something there about being lonely and solitary in the world except for just one person who you'll always be with whether you like it or not. it's not exactly a sweet or romantic type thing but its more like a 'you're all i have' melancholy sort of thing.... and thats interesting to me

tsukihi/nadeko: the classic i love this one yeah. i dont even think it'd be a super healthy relationship given how tsukihi is.... tsukihi. but thinking about how nadeko has been pining over her for so long i think itd be interesting, especially considering tsukihi would definitely not be as infatuated with nadeko as nadeko would be with her. and nadeko would have to put up with so much for it... they'd probably break up like every other week because of tsukihi's fickleness, or like have whole periods where they dont talk and nadeko thinks theyve broken up or are fighting and tsukihis just being tsukihi. 'the things nadeko does for love' is basically how i think of it. maybe she'd be better off just moving on... poor nadeko. not very good luck when it comes to love...

suruga/higasa: ok i said i wouldnt talk about spoilers so i wont talk about this one much. but i think they'd be cute together. i like how higasa sees through suruga. i think itd be super cute if she was teasing her out of like a crush. they should kiss

also any like specialist/specialist stuff i'd probably like, just bc we get so little of those guys that its cool to play around with their dynamics. maybe like yozuru/tadatsuru for like a kinda rarepair rivalry dynamic... i could see them as a divorced couple maybe. but really just. any of them. hell maybe theyre even a polycule who knows.

and also rouka/suruga is good but i dont really have any thoughts on it per se, i just like it a lot. its complex... its bittersweet... ya feel

ships i dont like:

koyomi/tsubasa: yeah p much everyone's talked about why this would never work. i might almost like it for like, the angst it would bring but i think it doesnt quite reach there either so its just meh.

koyomi/ougi: m..m... dont like it.. dont like it. i think their relationship is so much more interesting the way it already is so i dont really feel the need to see them in a romantic one yk. i dont think it would be good for either of them either... they will just stagnate if they stick around each other. and also this is like maybe not so applicable bc anything is possible in the ship world but. these two just would never. they dont see each other like that yk. if im looking from an analysis lens here, the camera which is mostly under koyomi's perspective that licks and slobbers over all the girls never does that for ougi. despite him thinking shes like "bewitching" (appearance wise but also probably in the other sense too lol) or w/e. i could write more about this and the harm i think it would do but it'd get spoilery and become a dissertation so ill leave it at this. ummm... dont like it. :p

deishuu/hitagi: ok i see people talking about this one a lot so i just have to put my foot down.. i think its meh. i think its whatever. i think kaiki is not and was not interested in her, and just saw her as a brat who was infatuated with him. and while i do think its possible or maybe even probable that hitagi was infatuated with him while he was scamming her bc she saw him as a savior... i dont think the infatuation would have been that strong. maybe just a little crush, but nothing serious. i wouldnt go so far as to call it love yk, if those feelings were there... and on the idea of that 'if,' i also think its way more interesting if kaiki only THINKS hitagi was infatuated with him when really she never was because it shows the flaw in his perception. like thats the kinda perspective cool thing i like in the monogatari series... thats why i like how its so vague in canon too. the ambiguity makes this dynamic interesting imo

suruga/karen: kind of dont have strong feelings about this one but i cant really see it. i dont think they'd be the right dynamic for each other and it'd become awkward...

the only 2 ive talked about are the girlies bc u made the best art of them in the limbus spirte style but why dont i just go thru all of them to amuse no one but myself.

honestly with shoushitsu's perceived emotional distance it might be fun to see her as one. she has her own desires & is willing to act on them Clearly given she's alive in the series but the fact that she can bury that to seemingly deal with the problem unbiased (impossible but shes doing it better than anyone else) would make her an interesting sinner. everyone would see her as the normal one or the slightly annoying one until it would get to her canto & open a whole new perspective on her. she strikes me as being similar to faust, if just a little.

kyuuyaku i dont think would be the best candidate for a sinner. she has the motivation but the whole dying repeatedly & watching everything crumble with her is clearly getting to her. she's a fighter in the fact she wont give up but i dont think she has what it takes to do any abnormality suppression. i also think at some point if not right away the whole dante bringing her back to life thing is going to trigger some sort of panic attack or similar.

touhikou would also make a good sinner. she's willing to fight. she's willing to go off on her own if that's what it takes to get her answers. between kannagi & kyuuyaku being in the same time as her it seems to me she's dealt with both sides, praying & research, and decided neither of them were enough & she'd find her own way. she'd be good at suppression & likely the job in general, with the one problem being she also would end up disagreeing with the other sinners as she works with them, but due to contracts she cant just leave this time. she would be a fun sinner.

tenshi. WORST pick for a sinner. whats she gonna do. cry and make them feel bad????? girl's not saving anyone she's getting smushed by the first abno she meets. she would never be able to handle any ego or corrosion thereof. she's like u said she would be one of the cool npcs that gets killed before the end of the chapter. much like how she does in the series.

apoptosis is my other choice for good sinner. theres something so so wrong with her her ego skills would be So Something & with how she melts down in canon i bet shes prone to ego corrosions. shes also just so fucking awful she would have no problem fighting everyone and anyone like vergilus would have to scare her into behaving shes that bad i think. i dont even think her canto would be that deep i think shes just Like This.

maximizer could go either way. shes full of ..... idk if its whimsy exactly but shes at least pretending to be very lax which could either lead to a very dramatic canto reveal or very lackluster one. she'd see fighting & ego stuff as just part of the job & wouldn't have any real problems with it i think.

kanon could be interesting given shes willing to lie to manipulate others. like yeah she regrets that but its a thing that happened. she did in fact go that far. i think that could be a very interesting reveal if her canto was later; everyone working with her having no real problem with her, shes just there, and then suddenly everyone finds out its because of her influence & direction people got killed permanently & her outward way of handling it was just 'well that wasnt the goal sorry that happened'. like maximizer i dont think shed have any real problem with fighting anything given its in her contract, its probably just inconvenient for her.

ashura would also be a good sinner bc theres a lot going on with her itd be fun to explore in this setting. the whole controlled by external forces theme & all. but bc of that she might not be considered to become a sinner in the first place since she lacks her own motivations or at the very least wont act on them. i think she's bitter enough tho they should let her fight things i want to see her ego corrosions.

laboratory would be a bad choice for sinner too i think. shes a do as shes told oops i forgot to be a person type chara. she'd be one of the branches like research workers that gets killed mid chapter or like shrenne not a sinner. i dont think she has any fight in her anyway.

yamete. realistically i think she'd be in the same company as labo & end up getting killed slightly after her after spending all her energy fighting to keep labo alive & failing. that said in series it seems like she does have a lot of her own motivations and ambitions her downfall was purely buying into the "just do ur job" rhetoric she was pushed. she's bitter & she's biting as she goes down so i think itd be fun to give her a sinner role anyway.

kannagi i think would be a bad sinner on the basis of she's not really willing to fight for want she wants. she IS acting of her own will & has her own desires but she's so non confrontational about it, at least from what i can understand, that she would be like. useless functionally as a sinner. she can be an npc for funsies tho.

this kind of hinges off the belief that the octoling shown in the trailer is octarian/not from the splatlands (whatever the correct term is i forgot). if the octoling is from splatsville then uh whoopsie. this is Not Relevant and will age like milk. anyway

octarian society definitely has a lot of strife. especially when in the military. suddenly trying to enter inkopolis and being met with turf wars suddenly being for fun and almost a complete lack of strife has to be wayyyy too much for some octolings. ive mentioned this in a prior post though thats from the perspective that the sr octoling is agent 8 (which im hesitant to believe but this is not the main point for this post specifically) id just like this to be true to contrast with what i think will be a revolving point around marina

and yeah, thats my main point, i think marina will have stuff to work through, too. i dont think she'll be an antagonist, but rather someone who's doing the wrong things for the right reasons or someone who caused a bad situation (which ill just call the death of coral here) on accident while trying to help. she was in the military at a very young age and escaped to inkling society, but the stuff after final fest is what im thinking about.

i can really only bring up NOA dialogue (aside from one thing, if i can find the source for it), so this may be off, but i dont have the resources to look up a 100% authentic translation

the fest stressed her out, and she was very worried about the band breaking up. this is clear in dialogue

though of course pearl comforts her that this isnt the case, i wonder if that fear still lingers in her mind. im not too knowledgeable on marina's characterization (i heard NOA isnt either so, lol) but it seems in character. she definitely hasnt unpacked(? i believe that is the right word) the fear on screen as far as i can tell, though, and i think side order might be about that, a little.

what interests me most is this unused dialogue from if team order won, though:

of course its unused so it doesnt hold as much weight as canon dialogue, but i wonder if she'll hold a similar mentality. she has control, and she sees that she can shape the world. i dont fully agree with her changing everyone to be the same, since she later says this:

if she were to do anything, i think she'd change the world that may try to be like this, but something in it would be functionally unsound and cause the whole thing to break. im not sure if she even would in the first place but i can acknowledge the possibility. itd be ironic, shes good at building machinery but not building a utopia.

i dont think she needs to be saved in this scenario, i think its best if she were to save herself. but this is verrryyy speculative so i cant say much.

tangent aside. marina understanding and moving on/healing from her fears being compared to the protagonist octoling's own journey on recovering would be great. itd be even better with agent 8 in my opinion, since theyve clearly gone through Some Shit and definitely need therapy for it, but i dont want to speculate too much. im expecting all of this to be Wrong but i cant ignore that ive been thinking about it like this lol
