a scenario where both Bruce and Tim are out and about as civilians and end up needing a rescue from their respective Supers so Jim Gordon has to sit there and watch as Superman (fine as long as he's just visiting) and Superboy (near-identical to the former but says fuck?) carry the two Wayne family members back down to safety while simultaneously playing the "I've never met this man in my life! Just a lucky rescue! / If you even look at my human I'm going to go feral" game all the way down.

valerie was definitely anti-social. she really didn’t know how to express her feelings, so it made her feel a tad bit odd in a group of loud introverts or hyper extroverts.

she didn’t force herself into any group hangouts or conversations, but of course her closest co-member, hani, always invited her to stuff without her being able to say no.

“I think val wants to come.”

“val likes those kinds of things.”

“we should invite val.”

valerie always depended on hani as she was 2 years older than her, practically her older sister. she was glad to have someone that could always stay by her side you know? someone that can help her fit in—

“valerie song!” the older girl snapped valerie back to consciousness, they were both sitting on the edge of the bed face to face, “valerie! come on! I can’t always be the one who’s helping you with getting along with your other members!” hani nagged the younger girl, while valerie just sighed.

“easy for you to say. any word that comes out of your mouth, suddenly everyone bursts into laughter.” valerie crossed her arms, kinda disappointed that just this one time, hani wasn’t siding with her.

“it’s not my fault I’m enfp.” hani pouted, valeire was right. the typical extroverted energetic girl who could make anyone laugh with her jokes, someone who was friendly and out going.

in-fact, valerie was the opposite of whatever hani was. valerie was infj, typically described as “INTJs look rather intimidating. INTJs are famous for their death stares.”

exactly what valerie was to almost everyone else.

“most of our members are sociable, val ! trust me ! it’s not hard to get closer with them!” hani held valeries shoulders, shaking her softly. “easy for you to say.”

“what would you do if I’m not there and you guys are together? sit quietly and not even spare a glance…?”

…that was the plan. valerie thought to herself, just giving hani a glance of guilt. “don’t tell me you were thinking it.” she wasn’t ACTUALLY planning to do it.. right?

“…” valerie stayed silent; looking down at the ground like she was taking into consideration, focused on thinking. “fine.” valerie had finally agreed to something, she agreed upon trying to get close to each member one by one.

“oh my god! yes! it will be so worth it when you guys are finally close !!” hani squealed in excitement, “who did you get closest with first? who’s the easiest to get close with?” valerie asked curiously.

“actually. come to think of it, it was jungwon.”

valerie definitely did not expect jungwon to come out of hani’s mouth, jungwon seemed like a quiet introvert, but when she saw him during hangouts and conversations, his personality said otherwise.

but sometimes, jungwon seemed a bit neutral when it came to valerie since she was someone he didn’t know yet personally, “jungwon ?! how am I gonna get close with him ?!” valerie asked in confusion.

“val.. trust me it’s gonna be easy for you—”

“hani. I noticed whenever I passed by jungwon he wouldn’t even spare a glance, when I said hi he would wave slightly and walk away. I swear… that man does not like me!” valerie ranted as hani watched her, waiting for a chance to talk.

“jungwon… doesn’t like you?” hani said in denial, “yes! he obviously doesn’t want to be associated with me.” valerie face planted into her pillow.

“oh my god val! who do you think is the one who’s always asking to bring you into conversations and hangouts? it wasn’t me… it was jungwon who always asked me to bring you into convos!” hani corrected her bestfriend, valerie.

“what?”

“val he wants to be close with you! he is always saying ‘i feel bad for val, i understand she can’t express her feelings. I wish I could talk to her’ yadaydada! that’s what he says val! he wants you to be included!” hani suddenly confessed,

“jungwon was the first person to bring you up in whatever we would do! he’s a caring leader… he loves all of the members! mostly you val… mostly you!” hani nagged the stunned girl.

so it turns out… every time she got invited… it was jungwon who initiated it ?! “wait… so if jungwon never initiated to invite me, would you have not invited me…?”

“of course not! but it was jungwon who always asked me to do it, val he’s shy to talk to you.”

“everyone is! they all like you, but it just seems like you don’t like them.”

“val this might seem straightforward. but they all do love you, they want to be closer with you. they hate the distance, they think your the one distancing from them.”

oh my fucking god! if this is what they think about valerie… what could they be talking about at dance practice right now …. ?!?

“plan to talk to valerie has now officially started! who wants to start their idea first ?” heeseung stood up on the couch, like they were doing a whole project to finally stop being cowards and talk to valerie.

“what if we invite her to a restaurant and hang out? seems like we could get to know her more like that.” sunghoon smiled softly at the mere thought of overcoming the fear of talking to val.

“you guys are gonna make it awkward of how you don’t even notice her when were are all sitting together in the dining room.” jungwon said from across the room, arms crossed but not that far.

“so in simple terms… we go to her?” jay asked, his hand on his chin, head resting on his hand. “no shit sherlock, how could she go to us ?!” jake playfully hit jay on the shoulder.

“what if we go to her, we could watch a movie. her favorite movie! what’s her favorite movie?” sunoo said, while riki was finishing his sentences. “wait what’s her favorite movie?” riki asked.

“oh that’s hard…” jake thought hard, he thought ‘valerie’ but the sheer thought of val made him giggle and chuckle like a little kid. “I got nothing.” he sighed softly.

“heeseung, do you know?” the zoned out hamster who has still standing on the couch suddenly snapped out of it and turned to jake, “I don’t remember… if she probably ever told us, I was just looking at her most probably.” heeseung scratched his nape in guilt.

“jay? sunghoon? got anything?”

“nope.”

it was decided, the boys knew absolutely… nothing about what valerie liked or what she didn’t liked.. except for one. “guys. it’s dead poets society; she told us !! how can you not remember?”

“ohhhhh yeah” they said in unison, “i guess jungwon has one point score in val’s heart.” sunoo said sarcastic, but the boys obviously didn’t take it as a joke.

“so are we gonna talk to her?” ni-ki asked, the boy was clearly nervous. “what am i gonna do? dress up as a dead poets society character and suddenly we are two peas in a pod?” ni-ki joked around, but he was really in-fact scared to even make eye contact with the girl.

heeseung tapped on his hard notebook, making everyone turn to him. “plan initiated.. operation talk to valerie has now started.”

“if I talk to val I might shit my pants and pass out.. I can’t even look at her!” jake was going CRAZY. and so was everyone else, just by thinking that they were gonna finally talk to val.

I know I'm late to the game but I started reading Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus and am now about half way through House of Hades and am constantly being thrown off by how mean people are to Nico.

Not action-wise, people are more or less cordial to him, but thought-wise they are complete jerks. The characters thoughts about Nico are always like he's creepy, makes them uneasy, and the poor geriactric teenager has done nothing to deserve that. He's just existing and people are hating on him.

Percy wanted to "wring the kids neck" for not telling him he knew who Percy was when he had amnesia, even though at that time Percy knew about Hera/Juno's exchange student plan and Nico telling him would have ruined the Greek/Roman plan from the start. And Percy had also been frustrated at Nico for "not crawling away faster" from the Titans after nearly dying in the bronze jar and waking up from a death trance. Have some compassion!

Frank wanted to drop kick him into a canal because Hazel breathed in poison. He was more mad at Nico than the actual monster for what reason?!

And Percy and Annabeth had (seemingly unintentionally albeit) spread rumors about Nico to Piper and Jason. Annabeth told Piper she thought Nico had a crush on Annabeth from the time she helped rescue him and his sister, and that tainted Piper's view of him a bit thinking Nico might be jealous of Percy. And although the PJO series is only from Percy's perspective so possible unreliable narrator at that time, but there was no hint Nico had a crush on Annabeth in those books so Annabeth speculating that seemed weird. (Nico did blush quite a bit during a convo with Juniper the Nymph and Percy in book 5, but that was probably because of Percy... I may not have gotten to that part in the series yet but I've seen enough fanart to know who Nico had a crush on at that time).

And Percy had told Jason he didn't know where Nico's loyalties lie?! Like the kid tricked you ONE TIME to get Hades to tell him about his life pre-memory-wipe and who his mom had been. Nico had said multiple times (with various levels of distress) that Hades had promised not to hurt Percy and let him go but the kid didn't know about making people swear on the River Styx to bind a promise at the time. He then went against his father, busted Percy out of Underworld jail, got him to the River Styx to get the invincible Achilles curse, and stayed in the Underworld to try to get Hades to join the battle of Manhattan because Percy told him to even though Nico had told him how scared he was of his dad because he had JUST betrayed his dad for Percy 2 minutes ago! AND THEN NICO SHOWS UP TO THE BATTLE OF MANHATTAN WITH NOT 1 BUT 3 GODS! Nico convinced not only his dad Hades, but also his step-mom Persephone and step-grandma Demeter (both of whom did not like him as Hades's affair child) to join the battle! AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE HIS LOYALTY LIES PERCY?!

I've seen the fanart and know things get better for Nico eventually, but can these "heroes" treat the poor geriatric teenager with just basic kindness?!

I like your insight in Damian's related thing but I don't quite understand how you see Dick and Damian's relation. Would you expand more on it?

For me it was most of a parental figure (not exactly a dad)/mentor while Bruce was away and after he came back it went more to older-younger brothers/still mentor

Ok so how I see dick and damian's relationship:

Dick is definitely responsible for Damian, and he feels responsible (he like. directly says so in battle for the cowl #2). he also starts out generally... like... annoyed by Damian. He thinks in resurrection of ra's al ghul "all this trouble for Damian? The kid no one can stand?" and says out loud something along the lines of "saving him makes us feel good" to Tim, then we have even in Batman and Robin 2009:

and like just to be clear, this isn't me doing a "dick #cancelled' thing or whatever, just pointing out how the dynamic starts. it does start with Dick feeling mostly obligation and annoyance towards Damian.

I don't think Dick ever was trying to be a parent when he was Batman and Damian was Robin, and that's okay! Like some posts already reblogged there (link to discussion, link to post about rules, link to my guess on dick's thought process). I think Dick was in survival mode. He was dealing with becoming Batman, Gotham Underworld being in chaos, now suddenly in addition to the responsibility of being Batman, which he did not ask for and feels obligated to fulfill, he has to take care of Damian*, which is another responsibility he did not ask for but feels obligated to fulfill. His main concern with Damian seems to be making sure Damian is safe (as in rescuing him if/when he gets in trouble) and b) making sure that Damian is not going too far in the field, ex: killing someone (he's worried Damian will kill Zsasz, even tho Damian didn't try) or torturing someone**. Once those big concerns are done we see Dick trying to flesh out Damian's Robin training, in the Batman series he gives him various clues to work on as he works a case (ex: medicine to analyze) so that Damian learns detective skills.

I think part of the reason why parental probably sparks so much discussion is because... well parental is going to be different for everyone. some of the recent analysis in the convo i've been having has been about dick's lack of consequences, but well... there are parents who don't do consequences, or who do but make them inconsistent enough that they seem arbitrary and meaningless***. I'll also point out that in general, parentalness from Dick is not something Morrison cared to put in the comic, and that's what we're going off mostly. Like we do see hints that the characters clearly care about each other as their dynamic gets closer, but we don't see an authorial investment in a parental dynamic, and it's hard to just say 'imagine that happened behind the scenes'. heck, part of what I like about Dick and Damian's dynamic is how gradually they slowly grow to tolerate and then trust and care about each other.

I think Dick's role for Damian when Damian is Robin and he's Batman is very much a mentor role, more involved than if Damian didn't live in the same house as him, but not doing everything a parent would be expected to do for a child, especially since we don't really see dick caring about what Damian does in his off of Robin hours :P Obviously it's possible to extrapolate/guess, maybe Damian was in homeschool (I know that's how I interpreted it in my fanfic) but it doesn't mean we actually see it happening and can say it's canon (if I'm wrong, please correct me). and I think that the fact that Damian is pretty independent**** does probably contribute to this, because I think if he seemed more needy Dick would be like 'oh yeah I guess I should do get him something to do during the day'. and eventually, yeah, their dynamic gets more big brother/little brothery.

I guess I could ask you a follow up question, which is what makes it seem especially parental to you?

I know I got on a long conversation on another about how this comic makes a big difference between physically torturing someone and what Dick does, which is intimidating people by making them think they will die, which is treated as totally OK within the text. I personally think that either option is not good

I’m surprised at the amount of billy asks you get. Does it mean that they’re popular? All i know for sure is that they certainly seem to interest a lot of people. And i agree that they really do have the bones for a fascinating character, but the developers couldn’t be bothered to build something from those bones because 1) sim shenanigans, you can’t have your self insert react strongly if you’re meant to project 100% onto them, but billy does have traits that keep getting mentioned by more than one person plus the few actions they do choose and a backstory, which doesn’t seem like cardboard to me imho, but also 2) earl gray, and what invader added is the most damning detail of them all. Or rather, not a detail, but the anchor that sank billy. I know we’re meant to keep flamey and edelgard separate in our minds because edelgard is marketed as a poor sad waifu you must feel compelled to rescue, but it doesn’t erase her actions or flamey. When we have evidence saying that silver snow is meant to be the primary marketed canon route and so much of the conflicts across two games come down to the actions of one person plus a poorly thought out loptous stand in, all it tells me is that the main character was doomed to fail because the developers could not decide how to write a school mystery + romance of the three kingdoms sympathetic to cao cao so they tried to “fix” that or make it “gray” by turning it into a dating sim to artificially raise the emotional stakes. At least to me it says they didn’t have confidence in billy as a main character at all because so much of it hinges on centering edelgard and the players picking faves out of the rest of the cast, and to make it more insulting the compensation is being able to kill billy in the spin off? I myself don’t really have any big faves in the games because i only play them casually and read your blog, but what i do know is that it makes me hate edelgard for essentially being the gravitational center of the games like a narrative black hole and the developers being too cowardly to really cement her as a villain, and it doesn’t make me like warriors either because it doubles down on trying to explain her position instead of telling a story and because shez fans are extremely annoying and rude online, no surprise that many are also edelgard fans.

I'd say it's a cumulation of everything!

I think the fandom (myself included!) might have been a bit harsh on Billy because of their avatar status, even if I still think Rhea's S-support "aloneb4u" is shit and Seteth not giving any fucks about her and centering his support and convos on "we must find her so she will reveal da truth 2 u" is bonkers and both of those instances can't be only attributed to Hresvelg Grey but to "only the player is important", like the theory i came up with the self-insert scissors.

But yeah, I feel like at one point, Supreme Leader hijacked the "main character" or "character at the center of the plot we want to tell" spot, all gravitas went to "can u kill the student who loves u and bear with the sad uwus for the rest of your run ??" instead of, you know, the greater plot Nopes teased us with a Larva vs Sothis that never happened?

I compared FE16's story to many things earlier on, but the general thing is "why are we talking and following the least interesting parts of Fodlan", Supreme Leader's war of unification is meh, bias or no bias, I would have loved to see a War of Heroes game, or even a game set during the Sothis vs Agartha era (or the two why not) - but here we just have Ashnard lite with an uwu glazing, without even tackling a traditional or underlaying issue from the FE series about coexistence between people and acceptance and whatnot.

(the reason why AM is still, imo, a letdown because it ignores the dragon in the room)

What was Billy supposed to be? Supreme Leader's luf interest? A character that can conceptually fall (if they pick Tru Piss) thus can ascend in other routes? A self insert? The character you're supposed to navigate the world with?

I think Billy being a silent protag was a disservice to them - despite all of its faults, Nopes at least gives more light to Billy and it's refreshing, even if the game will never add 1+1 because Hresvelg Grey.

TBH I think Fodlan has its own share of fans being annoying regardless of the character they support - and while Barney is pretty chatty, ultimately Barney is the deviant art OC with two swords because why not, a sekrit past that is never explained and somehow stronger than everyone who is actually as empty as an oyster shell. We don't know what Barney wants, to be a merc? Yeah, but why? Is it because Barney is searching for somewhere to belong - just like Billy in a way - ?

As for the cardboard mention, it's most likely again in relation to Hresvelg Grey and Fe Fodlan's writing - the games don't spend enough time to build a sense of friendship and camaraderie between the cast to make the "betrayal" hurt or even the "y must we kill people we knew :'( " meaningful, so we only have the "wah sensei why didn't you pick me :(" or the general "i'm sad to fight against you" but like, mate, who are you? Why are you lamenting having to fight against Billy - someone who is opposing/invading your country and everything you stand for - like Billy and 12 months in Rhea's rocky mansion meant so much to you, much more than the 17 years of life (with acquaintances, friends, family, etc) you had?

But it's also in relation to Hresvelg Grey and the silent protag - why no one can give a reason - save for Supreme Leader "lizards BaD + MAGA" - to join this route, heck, not even Billy can say why they joined this route...

In French we have a saying that goes "comparaison n'est pas raison" more or less meaning you can't always compare things bcs context and all, but after TS's protag Serenor - who also has Gary Stu moments! - Billy not saying a thing about Supreme Leader's nonsense, frowning at Dimitri and being silent during Claude's monologues is... annoying.

But when Billy isn't in Fodlan games, they can talk and there's still the forbidden rule of not adding numbers - never ! - but they shine more.

I was trying to keep this short enough for a reply because my last one was so long, but…

First, let me say that Giddy Up and Footloose was so much fun!

It was after the bowling dress that I said to myself, "watch she win," but it was more like an upset during the playoffs, like coming from behind kind of win. But this? This is an upset in it's own right. I don't think most readers thought that her braggadocious attitude could come off as charismatic, and yet… I would be surprised if their bars weren't halfway in the green.

I thought he had chemistry with Noemy, but this is off the charts in comparison, even considering that they didn't really flirt. Of course I didn't know what the date was going to be like, but I knew it wasn't going to be dressage or a mountainside rescue, so it could only be something playful. And that underscored for me that Yasmine's date wasn't structured like the others in terms of flow.

But even with that, I think that these last two dates were actually the most fruitful in terms of Quinton seeing, not quite to the heart of them, exactly, a bit too early for that, but at least being able to see… wait for it… what they're made of.😉

So, I'm not recanting, but I believe the juxtaposition does offer a different perspective on the outcome of Yasmine's date. I have other thoughts about this that are tethered to a couple things, including, something you said in response to my previous ask and, that, rather than a romantic relationship, the date would seem more like the start of a mentorship, but I'll hold off on those until later if they're still relevant when later comes.

And Chanel was the first to ask about his kids! I was not surprised that it was her, but I was surprised that I forgot that Noemy didn't. I remember thinking (assuming, really) the convo Quinton and Noemy had on the plane would lead to her reciprocating the question in someway, but it never happened. Well, it did, but it was about his late wife and they never made it to the kids. I'm not keeping score because I'm actually only rooting for Quinton at this point, but I know that he is, so that had to earn Chanel some points.

I think the main thing this date represents to me is the beginning of a solid friendship, which is sooooooooooooo important in the long run. Having the hots for each other is all well and good, but for most sex-favorable couples, sex happens in between everything else. So, knowing you can vibe with them during everything else is a great foundation. Though, I suppose that vibe won't matter as far as endgame goes if their pink bar stays low, because, again, they didn't really flirt, at least not in a way that the game recognizes.

Up to this point, save for Lucy, who I like personality-wise, I've been indifferent about the rest, just observing, but this date has definitely moved Chanel into the like column. And that's all thanks to the way you're choosing to translate their traits and bio info into personalities in action; it's what I'm enjoying the most.

I can honestly say Chanel surprised me as well. I came into this with one or two sims who had backstories that truly tugged at me. Now, after a weekend of playing these sims, I am all over the place. I just knew Quinton and Chanel would end up with a negative bar. She's in the negative with two of her housemates. However, I was surprised at how Quinton's mood was around Yasmine. Especially since they hit it off so great at the bowling alley, but I guess that's why one on ones are important. Giddy Up and Footloose was really Andraya's date but she reacted negatively towards the horse. So, I went to look at her likes and dislikes and saw dislikes animals. Then re-read her bio and same thing. I don't know how I missed that. So yes, the execs (meaning me) messed up. So nosey and persistent Chanel came in handy because was not about to build another venue. She literally came outside and interrupted their interaction. It's just funny how everybody eventually showed up at the bar while she was having her date with Quinton. Even Dani but she was barefoot for some reason, so I sent her home. It takes all my strength to not cheat or intervene when these sims act unfavorably or against my interest. I have one possibly two sims I'd like to see win but since these sims have been surprising me in ways, I could not have imagined I'm going to let the chips fall where they land. The story has been literally writing itself. I do take some liberties with posing because sims don't do certain things like walk and holds hands. Also, they move too much when sitting or standing while talking so I will use conversation poses after I've done the game play interactions. Saying all that to say it is 85% organic and that's more than what USDA and FDA can say about our organic food.

-A lot of people think ab pre-destruction looked a lot like the island, but I like to imagine it was more of a jungle surrounded by very large cliffs and rocky hills (which would explain Diana’s attempt of escape via jetpack)

-Kind of obvious but I think the tek survivors were specifically ones that got killed during the URE/Terran conflict 

-I don’t think the Tek tribe were the only tribe on ab, but they were the only tribe from the “future”

-Other tribes started spawning in after ab got broken down, these tribes were ones that ascended tho, since the overseer was destroyed atm, the only way survivors could get on aberration (pre-Rockwell cuz I think he started spawning in test subjects once left to his own devices) was by selecting it on ascension 

-Some of the other tribes helped the Tek Tribe with the Gateway Project (usually getting nice gear out of it) so it could be how they managed to build the gate in the red zone (aka the hell zone) 

-The Tek Tribe weren’t super into taming other creatures until Mei Yin joined, so they mostly kept light pets and other passive tames

-Shinehorns are really popular in the Tek Tribe, most other tribe keeps Bulbdogs though

-Diana had a pet Featherlight that she tamed during her mission Mei Yin had to rescue her from

-She and Mei Yin basically share custody of said Featherlight (who Diana nicknamed Cherry), Cherry sometimes helps Mei Yin with Rock Drake egg snatching

-Oh yeah, Mei Yin also does egg snatching, usually to bolster the Tek Tribe’s ranks, or she does it for another tribe in exchange for supplies

-Mei Yin has also tamed a lot of creatures for either the Tek Tribe or another tribes, but not raptors, I don’t think she’d have it in her heart to tame another raptor after Wuzhui :C

-Everyone on ab collectively agree that you don’t want to run into Reapers bc they are dangerous

-That’s why whenever anyone goes on surface runs, it’s usually 2-3 tribes doing the runs

-Someone on ab figured out how to track the season change, probably Santiago bc if anyone could figure out the day/night cycle in aberration, it’s him

-Mei-Yin probably had arrived on Ab during the 90% day 10% night cycle so when she made a comment of “It felt like the sun was up for days” it got Santiago to do some investigating and they were like “this is weird” when finding out the day cycle

-Even tho the Reapers on the surface can’t uh... impale you with it’s unborn children, the survivors would rather go in groups when handling those things

-Disclaimer no shade to Reapers to any reaper fans reading this but in lore I think everyone would be Terrified of them 

-There’s probably one lone survivor on ab that has managed to get his own tamed Reaper Kings, most ppl on ab think he’s crazy for risking his life to get reapers, I feel like he and Mei Yin would get along in terms of having dangerous dinos tamed

-Said guy is nicknamed Reaper Man, and yes, he acts like a cartoon superhero, gets along great with anyone but sadly most people avoid him bc they are nervous around his tames

-Oh yeah speaking of Nerva remember when he got crispy fried then found by Diana? I think she buried what was left of him after her surface trip, she asked about it to Mei Yin and was Angry hearing about what Nerva did on the Island (Diana has a good heart she would not like hearing about a guy that brought violence to a once peaceful island and killed Mei Yin’s companions and also took Helena prisoner)

-Mei Yin also talked about Wuzhui a few days after talking about Nerva, it was a very emotional convo bc Mei Yin let herself grieve for her fallen friend she had channeled that grief into vengeance, then survival, and later thanked Diana for listening

-Disclaimer Helena 100% picked up on Diana’s crush on Mei Yin and teased her a lil’ about it but she’d also encourage Diana to “go for it” bc she think both her friends would make a good couple

-And yes, Helena was an annoying wingman that drove Diana low-key nuts

-Santiago also picked up on Diana’s crush and he and Helena got along like a house on fire trying to get the two together XD

-There was probably a time span of weeks-maybe a month before Helena found out about the Gateway Project’s true nature and had a Panic abt the Obelisk so she just wandered doing her research and mingling with the other tribes

-Apparently Shinehorns used to be called Lantern Goats so I hc that was the name survivors called them until Mei Yin showed up on ab and was like “that is not a suitable name for a creature of Xiao’s species” so she called them Shinehorns, Mei Yin wanted to give her emotional support goat a fancy name okay?

-During the trip of Helena, Santiago, and Mei Yin shutting down the obelisk and discovering the clone room, it was what got them to remember what killed them in their past lives... only reason the survivors don’t remember dying is bc like what happened with Santiago’s first respawn, they didn’t want to traumatize the survivors by having them remember their deaths

-Tho some survivors do pick up on the fact they died, and in this case they all remembered “oh my gosh we totally died” and Helena freaked out the most bc unlike Santiago and Mei Yin’s deaths... hers was not quick (the rocks man, the rocks)

-Mei Yin managed to help calm her down from her panic attack, but they all had to take a breather after... That

-Wiki on Reapers theorize that they use Nameless as a substitute for uh... making children instead of humans to explain why they vibe together and I accept this as hc bc how else would Reapers survive biologically without a mountain of human body count

-Helena discovered this tidbit from the neighborhood friendly Reaper Man, he put a camera on one of his light pets/Reapers while they were wandering the blue zone

-This is also how I think Reaper Man got his Reapers, he used a Nameless sacrifice I mean uh substitute (maybe Nameless survive the process since it seems to be a symbiotic relationship between the two species)

-Speaking of cameras the Tek Tribe probably shooted videos of light pets doing stunts or lent cameras to tribes as some form of entertainment (Discount Undernet anyone?)

-When the Tek Tribe finished their project they sent a whole “Y’ALL WE’RE BLOWING THIS POPSICLE STAND COME WITH US!” message bc the other survivors wanted to leave and also Ab at that point in time was really deadly during the time Rockwell was on the loose so a lot of survivors were bunched together by the portal

-Sidenote the Island Survivors were also Upset that Rockwell the once nice old guy who made kibble and settled disputes went off the deep end, (except like one guy who read the explorer notes and went “okay something’s weird about that dude”)

-The Island Survivors on ab should probably form a support group, first the New Legion, now this... it def was lot for them and they needed some comfort from their other survivors

-After escaping Aberation most of the tribes split up to cover more ground, it was the last time Helena saw of the former island survivors, since she stuck with the tek tribe (Idk if I’ll make an Extinction post since I don’t really have lots of hcs for that but I think most of the other tribes survived, including any tek tribe survivors that decided to tag along with a friend from another tribe instead of the main group)

-I think Rockwell, after getting lost in the Element sauce (*dodges angry fans for the meme*) expressed his power trip by trying to destroy the other tribes/survivors for “mocking his greatness” or something

-A lot of people speculate that Xiao was the Shinehorn Rockwell ejected Element with... I don’t have this same idea bc I think if he actually did that to Mei Yin’s companion Diana would’ve probably killed him on the spot bc she was very attached to Xiao

-Sadly Cherry, her Featherlight, was killed by Rockwell when he first transformed and wreaked havoc on the Tek Tribe... Xiao survived as he got picked up by one of the fleeing survivors (as well as some of the other light pets) 

-As for Xiao’s fate, I think he stayed by the ruins of the Tek Tribe, not having the heart to see what’s left of his family leave (Mei Yin did give him a good goodbye hug), and eventually got discovered by two survivors long after ab was abandoned (Trent and Imamu) 

-I’ll talk about the Grad Students in Part 2 of this hc post bc my gosh I went on and on about ab because it’s my fav map, even tho I don’t have it (curse you dlc for hiding cool content with money), I just like the lore okay?!

Here are my initial thoughts on ep 502:

The helicopter rescue has the heart transplant at its emotional core. I love the team effort to save the pilot and medic, and especially the heart. We know that the heart/transplant is parallel to Eddie’s storyline. He needs to connect with his own heart/feelings. The way the rescue went down lends fuel to my theory that Bobby and of course Buck will be important to that process. I originally talked about that here.

This episode takes place in a blackout. The metaphor basically indicates that there are things the audience and/or the characters can’t see very clearly. I think it’s meaningful that in that context, Buck (and Eddie) go fix the generators at the hospital (so that the transplant surgery can get started), and Buck is the “Power Czar”. Seems to me that Buck is going to be instrumental in shining light on matters of the heart for Eddie throughout the season (and we see the start of that in this very episode when Buck calls Eddie out for “pretending” and initiates the conversation with Eddie about the panic attack.

When Ana and Chris came to the firehouse and we all saw what we saw, I expired. I mean just wow. Eddie and Buck both greet/give Chris big hugs, smiling from ear to ear as each has his turn hugging their son. Ana is background noise for both of them in this scene! Buck barely looks at her during the scene, his eyes are glued to Eddie, especially when his mini-panic attack starts over Ravi mistaking Ana for his wife. Then, bonus round: Ravi was conscripted into Ana Management while Eddie literally ran for the hills with Buck looking on with that Confused Husband Needs Answers Now headline of a face.

The firetruck zoo conversation was beautiful. It felt like (further) confirmation that they have a life together already. Eddie explained that Buck takes Chris to the zoo so much that he has the animals memorized. Eddie is beaming! Absolutely radiant while explaining this to the team. Where everyone else looks mildly annoyed with Buck, Eddie’s joyful and really in sync with Buck. We also can’t ignore the fact that 501 did a small callback to the tsunami via the false text notification that Buck received AND in 303 (the end of the tsunami arc) Eddie suggested Buck take Chris to the zoo. The zoo stuff in this opening s5 arc is a callback to that. Again linking Eddie Buck and Chris strongly and emotionally. Buck took the zoo rec to heart and now we know those boys practically live there, and whether Eddie goes with them every time or not, i just know that he hears all about the zoo from both Buck and Chris after every trip. Y’all that fire truck zoo convo warmed my cold dead heart and I’m alive because of that scene.

Then we have the panic attack heart to heart between Buck and Eddie. Send help immediately bc I’m ending rn. Y’all…Eddie pretending loudly, Buck’s persistence, Eddie’s initial resistance and then opening up abt Ana and the panic attack, Buck’s hard truths for Eddie encouraging him to be honest with himself AND Ana bc he knows what it’s like to be emotionally abandoned in a seemingly committed relationship. Then he wraps it all up with The Line: “well, go to sleep. You don’t need to decide right now. It’s not like we’re going home anytime soon”. That screamed subtext and hopefully foreshadowing to me! It’s like “fine then ignore your feelings for now but the longer you take to choose me the longer we have to wait to be an official romantic couple”

Also Home is a whole ass theme for Buddie. In 303 we get a whole song (Photograph) and voiceover (from Buck) about it. I talked abt that among other things here. It’s also mentioned or implied in other episodes with those two. 408 comes to mind on that front.

It really does look more and more like we will get canon Buddie. I’m trying to keep my hopes in check but it’s not working. At this point if tptb drop me on my stupid clown head I’m writing Tim a strongly worded letter.

I've noticed that in terms of their love interests, we've always seen Eddie confiding in Buck about his, his conversation with Buck about Shannon in the Christmas episode, talking to him about Ana in 3x12 and now 4x06. However, with Buck, we never see him talk to Eddie about his romantic prospects (as far as I can remember). We never see him talk to Eddie about Taylor Kelly, we never see Eddie's reaction/thoughts about his relationship with Ali and never anything about Abby (which is surprising given how significant she was to Buck), in fact Buck actively avoids bringing her up as seen during that hot air balloon rescue in 3x17. Thoughts?

Hi Nonnie and thank you so much for this ask! I think a key element to remember here is that we actually also don’t see Eddie telling Buck about Ana in 312. We learn he must have because Buck spills everything during a call, but we don’t see the convo itself. This and many other examples (like how Eddie is up to date on Buck’s therapy without us seeing Buck telling him about it) lets us know that their communication goes well beyond what we see on screen. We’re led to believe they basically share everything, we just don’t necessarily see it transpire. Similarly, it’s true that in 317 Buck avoided bringing Abby up during a call, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he didn’t confide in Eddie about her off screen. In 318 Eddie is so annoyed and exasperated over Buck being willing to die to keep a promise he made to Abby that it makes me feel there’s a good chance Eddie has heard from Buck about the pain this woman caused him, we just didn’t see it. And I like that we’re told their communication is far deeper and more encompassing than what we see, that it’s been shown that for the most part, what one knows, the other does too. Because that’s very spouse-y, isn’t it? We all would pretty much assume the same for Henren, Bathena, Madney. I hope this answer helps! xoxox

As a disabled person it's kind of really bummed me out to see people ignore Ana's ableism particularly because all the people I see happily embracing her seem to be abled. I don’t know if it is just me but Oli/Buck is built like a tank and yet he still has this little pouch of belly which i find SO cute and So real. Do you think eddie Loves it just as much as me? Headcanon: MC that can’t have children feat: Hideyoshi, Ieyasu, Masamune and Shingen

The two of you had been married for quite some time now

And naturally, you started trying for children to expand your little porcupine army ^̮^

It had been a few years of trying yet still nothing ≧☉_☉≦

Ieyasu had given both of you, various concoctions of herb mixes to aid in fertility and the two of you practically tried every wives tale in the book, from honey and cinnamon drinks to acupuncture

Yet still nothing (¬_¬)

You decided to go and speak to one of the midwives while Ieyasu was away to war

She did a quick evaluation and after some time she looked you in the eyes, sad look crossing her face ⚆ _ ⚆

She didn’t have to say anything for you to know that you couldn’t have children  ಥ ͜ʖಥ

You offered her a smile and thanked her for the evaluation 

However, the second she left you crumpled to the floor and cried

At the end of the day, the two of you did have children, albeit not your biological children. 

You adopted two wonderful little boys who were sent to the Oda clan as hostages after their parents died. 

The second, you saw the look on Ieyasu face when he saw the two little scamps you knew that he wanted to rescue them so that they didn’t suffer the same fate he had as a child.

After all, he was the leader of his clan and as wife to the future leader certain duties and expectations had to be met

Masamune knew you were the perfect woman for him, and tbh after having met you, you were the only woman he could ever look at

He knew you were never one for grand gestures so he decided to keep it small, besides this way the proposal would genuinely be a surprise

He cooked the two of you dinner like any other night 

After dinner, you made your way outside together to sit and have a nightcap under the stars

Everything seemed to move in slow motion, as he was faced with a decision between happiness and duty

You couldn’t help but jump into his arms in a tight embrace showering his face in small kisses

You and Shingen had been married for quite some time now

He was still busy recovering from his lung disease and it was time for the two of you to go back to the future with Sasuke to get him checked out and restock up on meds

The two of you, would go back to the future every five years or so just to check up on his lungs, to make sure everything was still good (¬‿¬)

While Shingen was at the doctors, you decided to go to your gynaecologist to check up on your lady bits (¬‿¬)(¬‿¬)

Usually, the two of you would chill in the future for a few months until the next wormhole opened up, which suited you perfectly as it gave you an opportunity to catch up with your family (◕‿◕✿)

One day while you and Shingen were chilling on the couch the gyno called and asked you to come in so she could discuss your results

Shingen looked over at you, “Is everything alright, my goddess.” (◕‸ ◕✿)

You wore a concerned expression as you put down the phone, “I’m not sure, she asked me to come and see her as soon as possible.” (◕__◕✿)

The next day you and Shingen were sitting in the consultation room as the gynaecologist broke the news to you, that you had cervical cancer

Shingen grabbed your shaking hands and squeezed it. 

As the doctor explained your options, Shingen helped keep you calm by rubbing soothing circle on the back of your hand (〃‿〃✿)

The two of you decided to start the treatment immediately as that was the best way to ensure that both of you would be in tip top shape to return to the past

To be honest when the doctor broke the news that after the procedure, you would never be able to have biological children of your own, your heart broke  ( ´•̥̥̥ω•̥̥̥` )

You and Shingen had finally decided to try for children and now that dream seemed to be coming to a crashing end  (つ﹏⊂)

Shingen was there for you every step of the way, just as you were for him when he was sick and in the hospital (づ￣ ³￣)づ

The two of you went through the list of options in terms of children, and being in the future, there were quite a few options 

The two of you finally settled on adoption and quickly approached an agency to fast track it before you had to return back home ~(˘▾˘~)

The two of you landed up adopting four children at once. 

They had been in the system for so long, as they came as a package deal. Neither of them wanting to be separated from the others 

Shingen smiled as the social worker warned him about the 13-year-old’s tendency to run away.┗(＾0＾)┓

The two of you returned back to the past with your four children. You had gone from an empty nest to a full house in less than a year

You were slightly worried about the children having to adapt to a new life in the past, but those worries were for nothing as they were absolutely thriving ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪

Even the angsty 13-year old that was rumoured to have run away from his last 10 homes loved every bit of the past

He especially had taken a liking to Yukimura who would train with him

Finally, the four children who had never known love their whole entire lives were now surrounded by it from all sides

Hideyoshi

Oh you had loved your doting husband to bits ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )

He was everything you could have ever asked for in a potential partner, kind, loving, caring, need I go on \ (•◡•) /

Hideyoshi had found out very early on that you were unable to have children

In fact, you had actually confided in him way back when he had still sister zoned you ◉_◉

He never judged you for it and honestly never cared whether you could have children or not, all he knew was that he loved you ♥‿♥

He often jokes that the two of you couldn’t possibly raise a child as you already had your hands full with the warlords (｡◕‿‿◕｡)

If the two of you weren’t controlling Nobunaga’s candy binges, you were caring for Mitsunari, heck the two of you even had to break up small fights between bickering warlords

Although all that changed one day when there was a knock on your door in the middle of the night (；一_一)

Naturally, you kicked Hideyoshi out of bed to investigate, as you were to comfortable in the warm cocoon of your bed (｡v_v｡)

Hideyoshi kissed the top of your head as he got up to investigate. 

As he approached the door, he wondered who dare would wake them up so late into the evening ¬_¬

He was already cursing under his breath thinking he might find an injured Mitsuhide on his doorstep in need of medical assistance.

He opened the door and peered into the darkness, no one was there. He frowned thinking it might have been some children pulling a prank ب_ب

Just as he was closing the door, he heard a small sneeze, he looked down to the find out the source of the sound was a baby, that couldn’t have even been more than a few hours old ≧☉_☉≦

He gently picked up the tiny thing and cradled it in his arm. 

He could feel his blood boiling as he felt how cold the little baby’s hand were

He rushed to get a soft blanket to wrap the poor child in and then made his way to your shared room where he relit the fireplace ლ(･ω･*ლ)

At this point, you were sitting up in your futon wondering if Mitsuhide had gotten himself injured again (＾＾；)

Before you could even get up, your eyes widened in shock as you spotted the little bundled in Hideyoshi’s arms as he lit the fireplace ʘ‿ʘ

The second he handed the child to you, you were in love, in fact, both of you were in love  ♡｡ﾟ.(*♡´‿` 人´‿` ♡*)ﾟ♡ °・

You raised the little girl as your own, the two of you could never track down her biological parents, not that you cared as you loved her to bits and would never be able to give her up  (◍•ᴗ•◍)♡ ✧*。

Alone Together - meta/review

This was such a good episode! I think while I thoroughly enjoyed 4x01 and the way that it got us back into the rhythm of things especially with, you know, a pandemic happening, 4x02 got us back into the usual balance of emergency and personal aspects.

Spoilers below:

The episode begins with news coverage and it’s a good way to jump right into what’s happening and give us a recap to last week. And then we meet the three roommates. I can’t be bothered with remembering their names, but they were fun. The dynamic there is interesting and of course, this leads into some really awesome shots of the Hollywood sign breaking and the mudslide. The whole sequence is such a good opening for the episode and it sets our scene well. While I don’t have any complaints, this emergency is smaller scale to the tsunami and the earthquake of the past two season openings, but that isn’t much of a problem when we consider that they shot this in the middle of a pandemic. So, it works. 

What I found most interesting about this episode, and in a way how it continues the stories that were begun in 4x01, is that we delve further into the personal. Not every character is featured heavily, but we get small and big moments with all of them. 

Athena: 

The struggle that Athena has faced since the end of last season has been handled so well. Her trauma and how it lingers on her and yet doesn’t change how strong and fierce and amazing she is, is amazing to watch. It’s inspiring. Having Athena be right in the midst of everything especially when she wasn’t supposed to be just fits so perfectly. Having her contrast with Sylvia who is afraid of leaving her own house, and having Athena rescue Sylvia and herself and not give up, not even when the voice of dispatch was her daughter asking her to save herself. I just love Athena so damn much. She went through a journey in this episode and while I don’t think that her trauma is over, I think she will push herself to move forward and move past it. If not just for herself, then for May. 

I also really appreciated that we got a moment where Athena gives her approval of David by telling Michael that David looks tired. It was such a nice touch. The Athena and Michael relationship has been developed so well from S1, to a place where they are both with other people but can still be family. 

And finding out that May made the choice to be a dispatcher over going to school to be about her mom felt absolutely right and I feel so much for both of them and both sides, but I do have to say that May’s outlet for her lack of control in her life/the life of her loved ones is at least healthy and it’s making a difference. 

Lastly, I will never not be fond of Bobby and Athena — the way that Bobby was allowed to go search for her personally and that moment when they saw each other. His promise to always search for her. After everything Bobby went through during Athena’s attack, it’s easy to think about how difficult this was for Bobby. 

Chimney:

The other big focus of this episode was Chimney. 4x01 set up the living arrangements and it was immediately apparent that while Chimney had his reasons, that he didn’t need to be as set on that. After all we’re told that both Eddie and Hen went back home to their kids, so Chim should have gone home to Maddie and his unborn baby. 

It’s nice that we begin this conversation with Buck and Chim, instead of directly involving Maddie. We already know how Maddie feels about this — she misses Chim and wants him around. 

Chim’s joke about his “bad joke” being a “dad joke” was perfectly in line with his type of humor and it set us up for the conversation to come in which we learn that Chim’s whole problem is not just concern about the pandemic, but a deeper fear that he won’t be a good parent. His convo with Buck certainly offers some insight into his worry, but also the willingness that Chim has to do absolutely anything necessary for his baby, whose gender the characters and us, the viewers, don’t get to know yet. 

The rescues that Chimney and Buck end up going on begin with Chimney — not Buck — hearing a baby crying. And just like with Athena, the emergency itself gives Chim more insight into himself and into his situation and into what he needs to do. He rescues the baby, finds a bunch of pregnant ladies, and then goes on to deliver a baby and while talking to the mother, I think Chim finally gets to understand what the importance that being present for Maddie means. 

We get a very sweet moment where Maddie arrives home and finds Chimney already there and the whole thing is just emotional enough both from Chimney’s perspective of just how pregnant Maddie is and Maddie’s surprise and joy to have him there with her. They really are the sweetest together. And by the time that we’re in the closing parts of the episode and we see Maddie and Chimney on a video call with the new roommates — uncles to be Buck and Albelt, it’s clear that they’re settled together and happy and that Chimney knows better than to argue about coffee. 

Hen:

Ms. Henrietta Wilson knows how to emote with her eyes. We first see her reactions to Chimney’s bad joke and just her general demeanour and it’s all perfect, and then gets better when she’s reacting to Bobby’s facts about the Hollywood sign. In a liveblog post I said this was very Buck and I stand by it. Not just the rattling of facts, but the need to research a new place in some way. 

But where it gets good is when we see Hen in the middle of the drama among the roommates. Hen does so much with just a slight widening of her eyes, or a look in a certain direction. The timing is absolutely perfect and is practically alone in making that scene funny. 

Other than these small moments we don’t get much of Hen in this episode, but we do get the sweetest moment towards the end where we get to see Hen and Karen’s daughter, Nia. Not only is this little girl adorable, but with just a couple of lines, I’m sure she’s stolen every viewer’s heart. And to add to this, the love and pride that Karen feels for Hen radiates. I cannot wait for the show to go further into Hen’s experiences on her road to becoming a doctor. 

Bobby:

Bobby mostly plays the part of a secondary character to everyone else’s story. We see plenty of him and we learn that he’s the one with facts about the Hollywood sign. Mostly, I enjoyed that he played a part in finding Athena and I think it was an interesting choice to have him keep his composure and be professional. In some ways this relates to May and the conversation that May has with Maddie about the need to put feelings and personal stuff aside to do the job. And yet we know that after what Athena has recently gone through, that none of that could have been easy for Bobby. 

Eddie: 

Very little Eddie once more. I’m honestly not concerned about it to be honest. I’ve seen a lot of talk about how little he shows up in promo stuff and all that, but I just think it’s important to remember that this is an ensemble show with a rather large cast and that it’s entirely possible focus on his character will come in other episodes. And to consider that he’s one of the characters that was chosen for the cross-over. 

But we did get to see minor Buck and Eddie interaction, and more importantly we got to see Eddie and Christopher. 

And I think it was so important to bring Carla in, even over video, because she really is a huge part of Chris’ life. It does lead to the question of who is taking care of Christopher while Eddie is at work? How is school being handled for him? And it was just so lovely to see Eddie fall asleep at a bedtime story too. 

Buck: 

He is just so damn smart. Who would have thought to follow the feedback to find that baby? Buck is the kind of character that takes in the variables and finds a way to problem solve. He’s the kind of smart that you want and need in a crisis. And he’s also very cognizant of what’s going on with Chimney and his sister enough to be able to try and get through to Chimney about how he needs to move back home. I just love the consistency of having Buck be research crazy, quick to figure things out, and still at times a dumbass. It’s what makes him so perfect. 

I also appreciate that he’s called out for having too many rules by Albert and I just want to know all about the rules that Buck would impose on those staying at his place other than the sharing of chores that is mentioned in the episode. 

I’m also very curious about Buck and his therapist, the covid crush that literally everyone on the internet scoffed at and figured out even before last week’s episode aired. We were all right. It was fun to see all the crazy theories, though. But I do find it interesting that Buck feels he needs to hide the therapist from everyone because that isn’t really about what he and the therapist might be talking about, as much as it is about not wanting to be judged for needing a therapist. 

And his feelings are absolutely valid. Not because I think anyone in the 118, or Maddie, will judge him for needing it, but that they do sometimes her pushy with things and wanting to know more — we see that already with the covid crush thing — but I think it’s also to do with not wanting to explain himself and all of this is even more valid with the knowledge that we have about Buck’s parents showing up. 

But, the fandom at large has wanted Buck to talk to a professional for a long time, so I think we’re all very happy that he’s getting help. And I’m also very glad that we got the reveal in this episode and it wasn’t drawn out and made out to be something it isn’t for much longer. 

Dr. Copeland. They really know how to pick names on 9-1-1, don’t they? 

But of the small clip we get to see of her, it is clear that she is helping Buck and Buck begins the therapy session we get to see by admitting that Dr. Copeland might be right about him hiding his true feelings and Buck, holy hell, what does that mean?

Because, it could literally mean anything. It could be about his sexuality and discovery about his romantic feelings about a fellow firefighter. Or it could be that it’s about how much of himself he hides away or doesn’t present to the world in light of, you know, all the trauma that he’s faced and that we’ve all wanted addressed. This could also tie in some way to his past and that doesn’t have to take away from possible reveals about his sexuality. Mostly, it just makes me more and more excited for Buck Begins. 

Overall, an excellent episode. I love the things it touches upon and how the show isn’t steering directly into a deep focus on covid and instead giving us these moments of things have changed and this is how it is now from seeing everyone in masks, to seeing Hen going to her class online, and even down to Buck’s therapy happening over a screen. It is excellently handled when it comes to David and Michael and not only in the confirmation that they are living together in spite of the possible contact with the virus, but in how we see them handle that. Michael taking care of his man. All of that was lovely. 

The episode closed out on an amazing note, giving us these momentary glimpses into where everyone is and their familial spaces and the love and acceptance felt there and all the small tidbits and hints at what may be coming up.

So, I think the real Baek Hee Sung is the accomplice

1. The ragged nails Hae Soo saw in the flashback. First of all they scream stress to me and math wunderkind with unloving father and crazy mother Baek Hee Sung fits that. Second, we haven’t seen anyone with those screwed up nails so far. But if BHS had them back then, he’s been in coma for years in which case they would have grown out and been trimmed into normalcy by the caretaker.

2. The wrist band from unfather’s hospital put together with the fact that the accomplice bawled and bawled at the funeral. It means it’s someone connected to the hospital and thus unfather, but I cannot possibly have enough suspension of disbelief that unfather could squeeze out one tear if the world was ending - lizard people are not capable of crying, after all. OTOH, Hee Sung appears emotional - granted, it could be his coming out of coma and all that - but at least he’s capable of having a breakdown. I suppose it could be a random hospital person but that would be bad storytelling to bring in a random character we never met and go “yeah, that’s the accomplice.”

3. To tie in to (2), clearly BHS had a father who paid zero attention to him and it bothered him. Just as clearly, serial killer really wanted to have a junior partner in crime - look at him grooming Hyun Soo. And also clearly and horrifyingly, serial killer viewed those animal torture sessions with Hyun Soo as a bonding activity. So I can see someone unstable, deprived of paternal affection and closeness, and into murder idolize someone who pays attention to him and shows him the ropes. I mean, Hyun Soo, being a normal human being, hates them; his father is abusing him by making him do this and a lot of the reason he shoves his emotions down down down is to cope with that (and then the useless shrink puts in the nail in that coffin by telling him he has a disorder where he cannot feel emotions and empathy; of course he believes it - she’s an adult in a position of authority and unconnected to his family. If even she thinks he’s like that then he internalizes it as gospel to such a degree that all these years later he cannot understand that his actions are driven by emotion, that he has empathy aplenty - he decides to rescue the trafficking victims precisely because he puts himself in Ji Won’s shoes. He can’t even figure out what his panic attacks mean, poor man, his head has been so screwed with. OK, sorry, digression.) But anyway, to get back to the topic, if BHS is a murderous psychopath himself though, then for him it’s an equivalent of fatherly care in teaching needed life skills. No wonder he’d miss and cry for his mentor.

4. Human trafficker mentioning that accomplice and Do Min Seok were super tight but he hasn’t seen him in a long time. Well - coma. Also, I don’t think serial killers tend to quit cold turkey so it would have to be some event that would stop the steak.

5. The phone number that accomplice wrote on Hae Soo’s arm looks like the same phone number unfather has. My theory is that it’s the human traffickers’ number. I wonder if unfather used to clean up after his kid’s mess. (I think he’s also going to order a hit on DHS through this number. His ‘goodbye’ was ominous. Though how he thinks this will work I have no idea - he’d have to take out Ji Won and do you really want to take out a cop? That’s not going to reverberate or anything...)

6. BHS’ convo with his mother about whether the mute maid knows anything. Why would he ask if there wasn’t something shady going on beside his identity being used - because if that came out, that’s no harm to him, he’s a victim.  Plus during that convo he is staring at that place in the garden - hmmm - is it where Mi Sook is buried?

7. The woman he mentions he was going to see - is it the human trafficker lady? Hae Soo to get rid of as a witness (the flashback shows the accomplice memorizing features) though if that is the case, why didn’t he get rid of her earlier?

8. They cast Kim Ji Hoon. He’s not a random no-name actor. He’s had plenty of lead or second lead roles in successful dramas. For him to do a random minor role that’s not even a special appearance is odd. If he is however narratively important and also it’s very different from his usual repertoire, I could see why he went with it. (PS I really wish he was a bigger star. His character in Wish Upon a Star is one of my all-time drama crushes. I kind of want a rewatch now.)

Anyway, watch me be proven wrong next week...this drama keeps surprising me! Tbh, i would put up with random extra n3 being accomplice or w/e, as long and Hyun Soo and Ji Won get a happy ending - they deserve it so!

Discussing about Lysithea yesterday with a friend made me realise...

FE16 is a game that is so centered on its protagonist + the possibility to join CF that, well, some character’s characterisation... is completely off.

Or it’s just me thinking too much about FE heroes but -

In FE16, Seteth tells Cyril in his “I am totally not your adoptive uncle” support that while he shows her deference in a formal context, she’s actually “like” family to him. So the odd convos from Fe Heroes about her not going to the beach or the scolding she receives for dressing like a witch falls in the “she’s totally not my sister” spectrum.

And yet... in FE16 proper?

Well, we see how Seteth reacts when Flayn is kidnapped because some maniac wants her blood and is after her because of her pointy ears. He is panicked, prone to make rash decisions, something even Rhea berates him for.

We know he has been looking for Rhea for at least 5 years during the TS, and also tried to look after the people at his own scale (reorganising churches, etc etc). He looks positively rejoiced to find her anew when she’s finally fred from Adrestia’s Gritnea Tower, and wants her to recover.

However... In his supports, or even in his only plot important route - everything seems accessory to Billy, there’s no worry about her being vivisected for parts or him being worried about his last (?) sister (?)’s security when she was caght by the same people who treated Flayn so well that she still has nightmares about it.

In their A support, Seteth goes :

We saw the moment where Seteth asked questions to Rhea about what is Billy, but Rhea didn’t answer. Then, “before she vanished”, he asks her again. I suppose this is an off-screen convo, but when does this happen ? When they are both overseeing the Monastery’s evacuation ? Or when she tells him she will buy them time by transforming in her dragon form?

During this extremely stressful period - let it be Empire goons already marching on Garreg Mach, or Empire goons going to march on Garreg Mach to steal the remaining parts of their family members to create monsters out of humans - the only thing Seteth managed to ask is... more info about Billy ?

There was no “damn how did they know we are inhumans” or “if only you didn’t trust Wilhelm with that knowledge” nor “I sure hope Macuil and Indech are alright, maybe we should regroup and tell them humans are after our parts again”, no.

The “pointed questions” were about Billy’s creation, and the homonculi.

And yes, I understand, maybe Seteth asked her all those other questions and facts I raised earlier, so this line in a nutshell isn’t that catastrophic.

But coupled with this :

Seteth is sure Rhea is somewhere in the city, and wonders if she is able to sense them coming...

But then it immediately switches to “if we are able to save her, she will tell you secrets”.

No mentions of “I hope she’s safe” or anyone wondering why “saving her” and not just freeing her, is she endangered??? Seteth, with the prospect of finally finding his sister (?) who had been caught for 5 years by people who turned his family in bone clubs, only has to say “if we find her she will tell you the truth about your birth”???

No “She’s in the Empire, but in what state...” hinting at her possible transformation in a pair of shiny daggers or “we have to rescue her, Rhea is like family... to me and you as well.”

Billy learning “the truth behind citrus” is more important than Rhea’s well-being, after being jailed by people who were looking for Nabatean bones and hearts. 

I’m exaggerating, but it’s as if Reyson tells Ike “if we manage to find my sister, she will be able to explain Lilia’s whereabouts since she’s the last who saw her and maybe the story we know about Yune and Ashera !” 

No, Reyson dgaf about the plot, or Ike learning some “truth” about his mother’s past, Reyson is only worried about his sister’s wellbeing!

We’ve a character who, apparently, thinks of her as his “totally not family” -  berates her on her swimwear and her dresses - whose reason to find her switches to “she well tell everything to Billy”.

I know Seteth isn’t one to talk a lot about himself - or if he does, he does it in roundabout ways - but I’d really have liked it if the game toned down the “gosh Billy, I hope we can find Rhea soon so she can reveal the things she has hidden from you” to “I hope my sister is safe from those people who diced the rest of our family to make shiny bone clubs”.

Heck, even in the Billy support, instead of “Rhea is only important because of the Truth she will tell you”, Seteth could confess that Rhea is like family to him, and they already lost a lot of family members “a long time ago”, that is why he doesn’t want to lose anyone else, Rhea, Flayn and now, Billy themselves (who he comes to regard as family too) ? And to keep things hidden, Billy could ask what he means, but Seteth replies he will tell them everything when they find Rhea.

Imo, it feels like, to Seteth, Billy learning the truth about who they are from Rhea is more important than his own feelings regarding his missing sister (?). Billy is the avatar and Sothis reborn, at this point Seteth knows it, and yet, does it imply not giving any fucks about Rhea, as a person? Is she only “important” now because of the knowledge she has, and not for being a member of his family he cares about??

Is this supposed to play in the “alone B4 U uwu” nonsense that is Rhea’s S-support - Seteth must not care about her at all else Billy won’t be “the only one uwu″ to befriend Rhea since Zanado ? The only one Rhea could be “Rhea” and not the Archbishop with since Zanado??

Were they thinking they needed to put Seteth in a bus and make him not care about her in anything but a professional sense (and yet couldn’t completely avoid the elephant in the room - White Clouds and Flamey already take too much place in SS) so the S-Support with Billy wouldn’t be completely nonsensical ?

Or is it because “Rhea sus” and the general framing of the game that they couldn’t make Seteth care about his sister more, because the end of all relationships has to be Billy ?

I know some people complain a lot about the 3H characters in FE Heroes, but damn if Fe Heroes doesn’t develop the characters from 3H in ways the game never bothered to.

Nemesis exists and explains his “might makes right” POV, Edel is Bernie’d for her Red Emperor tendencies, Dimitri’s parallels to other Lords shine even stronger, Rhea is an awkward but kind and playfum person, Worst Mom sucks, Seteth gives fuck about every member of his family and can share his “dad/brother” worries, etc etc.

90% of my reason to want FE16 characters in FE Heroes actually are tied to this - the heroes team develop Fodlan characters more than the FE16 team

Okay, so , this is super self indulgent here.

But!!!!

Shes basically the black dragons spoiled bean.

She not only romances the top 3 people on the black dragon clan but shes also the Angel of mercy when the boss is angy!.

Who are those top 3 you Ask?

Kano (the leader of the clan)

Erron & kabal ( the top 2 best members in said clan)

Shes not 100% sold on the tats so she gets this hair pin with the logo of the black dragon instead.

Everything she wants she gets! Well more like...Everything that kano gets her bcs shes too shy to Ask bcs of past trauma.

S/I is sort of like a rescued kitten, kano and her met during a very specific heist they wanted to pull off.

By no means was she involved, but kano decided to strike a convo with her, they sort of hit it off and kano said shed better get out of there, that something bad might happend and that it was just a gut feeling.

For some reason s/I leaves and thats when the shit goes down, eventually they meet again though, and they form a friendshipp in a way.

Kano, who had introduced s/I to erron and kabal eventually finds out shes living in an abusive household, so he telle her to move in with them, that hed get her somewhere safe to move to.

They planned the whole thing, and it went smooth.

Basically they took her stuff to her New home while her abusive mother was away all day during work.

Kano,kabal and erron would make sure she had the essentials and that shed be safe, eventually polyam happends and well she was introduced to the black dragon clan, becoming basically the queen.

(Her nickname Among the other people working is "the queen of the black dragon ").

Shes basically that one moment of hope when kano is angry at someone, shed find a way to make him calm down.

S/i very cherished Among the whole clan bcs shes a cinnamon roll you know?, when she goes out you have like...a bunch of dudes behind her keeping her safe,shes granted every little wish she wants( she doesnt abuse this though since shes very bad at accepting gifts but they Keep spoiling her anyway).

She gets what she couldnt while living with her abusive mother,they all make sure shes always feeling safe and sound,and helping her take revenge in the pettiest way possible.

Oh her mom booked in a restaurant?suddenly the food takes to long to arrive, the cake she bought was slightly wonky,oh she had to go to the Bank?well too bad bcs the Banks either closed or theres too Many people waiting in line.

s/I gets used to this spoiling and she does Keep her humble roots, but its nice she finally feels loved and accepted.
