Thinking about Shadow and Maria again

Sometimes I wonder if she ever felt indebted to Shadow and her grandfather, given how hard they worked.

She was a genius too, but half the time she was unable to provide anything to the ARK or anyone... without warning, despite it all, no one expected anything of her. She saw how much they expected things of Shadow and Gerald, and she couldnt help them.

I can imagine people reassuring her that she didnt have to do anything and pushing her to just relax, don't stress your fragile body. I wonder if Shadow would have been able to see it, or if she hid that feeling, refusing to let Shadow learn about guilt and sadness. She probably hated that he was made to serve anyone else... She wanted him to be happy.

Not happy for her, not happy for Gerald or GUN. Happy for himself.

They were all meant for great things and couldn't achieved them, because of things outside of their control.

Do you think she questioned if he was happy? Was he happy to do something, or did he only do it because it made someone else happy? Was is because he was told to do it, or because he wanted to accomplish the end goal, too? Maybe that scared GUN...

This theme sits deep with me in regards to shadow... even with Doom, even with Gerald... I think he struggles deeply understanding and allowing himself to do things for, well, himself.

Tails helping Shadow rebuild parts of the ARK to establish a earth protection unit against future invasions, only for tails to discover pictures in the deleted data, that wasn't yet written over. He brings it to sonic and rouge for guidance...what should he do?

Shadow's overseeing the project with GUN's support. He's strict and particular on what they can and can't do and seems to find great purpose in this. I can imagine it's a weird feeling seeing scientists back on the ARK, even if they're only rebuilding a small section of it for defense, and not actually to live or research within.

Maybe they should just wait to show him... He refuses to let anyone into the living area of the ARK and one specific bay.

I don’t fully know why but Maria Robotnik and generally everything that happened on the space colony ARK happened in a 60s esk time period (obviously the technology is different but that’s because it’s Sonic. hey idk if this is a bit late but i was looking to see if anyone had headcanons on arke in pjo and i saw you had some do you have any ideas on what arke would be doing during the second titanomachy?

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT ARKE DURING THE SECOND TITANOMACHY!!!!! I think about Arke so so much.

My main hc for her is that I like the idea that for balance reasons of Iris being on Olympus' side for the Second Titanomachy, Arke had to join the Titan Army. If she wanted to or not is a different story, but she definitely was part of the TA. I also think if Arke had any known demigod children, they similarly more or less had to join the TA. This is the route I go with my own Arke oc Rain - she didn't want to be in the TA, but had to leave CHB to join it to work under her mother. Nobody is happy about this. Least of all Arke. She'd really rather not have all her kids be cannon fodder for the TA.

I imagine during the Second Titanomachy itself, Arke would probably begrudgingly do her messenger thing and maybe try to just generally lay low, and when the war ended she probably tried to shuffle away unnoticed so she doesn't get her wings ripped off again or anything like that. Maybe hide behind Iris a little bit. One of my jokes is that when all the ex-TA gods were getting cabins, Olympus mixed up the twins and gave Iris a cabin but not Arke. Despite being fully aware that Iris was not in the TA. They just gave her one as a treat. Arke meanwhile is sneaking off like "Oh good they forgot I exist. Best to not remind them and risk ending up in Tartarus again."

What if...Cater were Beast's reencarnation and Vil Joker (tbh I see Cater more as Beast)

I think it would have gone rather different, Vil feeling guilty for pushing Cater away again, questioning his motives asking him out. But in the end I don't think Vil has much in common with Joker. But it's fun to look at them from different angles. There are some traits in Beast I can see in Cater, but I can explain why I picked them for their respective reincarnation.

Cater and Joker to me are rather similar they both have a disconnect from those around them. Joker was on purpose, he had to to protect the other Noah's Ark Circus members. Cater is more from the fact he's moved around so much he has never had a chance to, nor knows how to form close bonds (Though the recent JPN updates show this may finally be changing for him)

Cater is also very willing to put himself in harms way for others. In the chapter 1 manga one of his clones takes a spear to the chest for Deuce, in chapter 2 he allows his clones to be trampled in the place of Diasomna's spell dive team, in Funland he sacrificed himself to save Kalim etc. And even though he didn’t die he experiences what his clones do *they are him*.

He's also willing to stand by and be called terrible things and just kind of endure it, and not argue for his own sake, as is shown in his dorm card, along with other places. Cater is also incredibly smart and tactical. It was something we've known for a while but has really shined through in chapter 7, along with his willingness to play the 'bad guy' when he needs to to help those he cares about.

Vil on the other hand, while kind and generous, is not that disconnected. He has Rook in a relationship I compared to Dagger with Beast, someone Cater doesn't have a parallel too. Vils motives are much more self focused a lot of the time, and he can be very driven and passionate the same way Beast is. Beast basically wanted to run away with Joker and have their happily ever after. Both Joker and Beast found their life unfair, but Joker had accepted it and his place in it. Beast dared to hope and dream for something better, which to me is much more Vil than Cater (Cater being the one resigned to his place in the world)

But these are my thoughts on it and my opinions, I'm always happy to hear others!

anyway last ark thought before i lay back down ( the worms possessed me idk what to say ) ark largely wings things when put into a Situation — he's just quick mentally and has had good training for adapting to evolving scenes. there isn't always time to plan or enough information to when your feet hit the ground in a combat situation that's already gone to shit so he's just carried that energy on in life of like w/e we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Some of my silly Sonic worldbuilding headcanons yippee 👍

(For clarification I refer to the animal characters as mobians even though that's like technically not canon anymore I think lol)

•Common headcanon, but showing hands (and feet but esp hands) is a big deal to mobians. They only show their hands/feet to family, extremely close friends, and romantic relationships.

•^Showing hands in any kind of relationship other than biological family is a particularly important emotional base to get to and shows deep trust

•^It used to be abnormal to show any hand at all, but now it’s mostly just the palm area (basically fingerless gloves are fine, for feet sandals are probably okay now but they’d need to stay well on the heel if that makes sense)

•^This was weird in the 50s/60s so if Shadow sees someone with fingerless gloves he’s briefly scandalized like a victorian man seeing a miniskirt lmao (ik he was raised on the ARK anyways but I hc he would’ve read and been taught about it probably)

•^Also idk about this one but maybe mobians started covering their hands in an effort to be closer to normal humans, so that’s why showing their actual hands became a sign of closeness/trust?

•Mobians are basically humans that mutated a long time ago because of radiation/pollution/chemicals/fallout/etc or something (kinda sorta similar to how in Archie they came from like,, a gene bomb making animals evolve really fast and humans devolve?? But instead it’s that whatever it was caused some humans to mutate to be similar to animals from around where they live or smth???)

•^Idk whether or not I think mobians (and humans) are aware that that's where they came from, probably not though I feel like it got lost to time kinda?? Maybe the first mutations also caused memory loss so no one remembered

•^There are also middle grounds between humans and mobians, like that’s what the catgirl and people with pointy ears from the OVA were

•A lot of mobians just started using “the ______” as their surnames, similarly to how human surnames came from occupations
