Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
It's been a while since I gave Back to Black the attention it deserves. It is a beautiful, tragic, and occasionally funny in a way that seems to attempt to deflect from any sincerity within the lyrics and themes.
And that is where the album shines brightest for me: the lyrics. Yes, it sounds incredible; the soulful sonic palette is a great selling point in it's own right, but the lyrics are doing so much at once while maintaining a clarity of theme and sentiment that is necessary to reach the heights of popularity and acclaim she has.
The first way the lyrics excel is that humour I mentioned. The apathetic irreverence she displays, whether knowingly or not, catered so well to the characterization of a person who is struggling and is in denial of just how bad their situation has gotten. It's such a realistic representation of how people actually tend to react to their issues in conversation. It removes that layer of abstraction that usually provides artists with a sense of safety when discussing their vulnerabilities and makes it feel so much more real, and by extension, more tragic.
The second way the lyrics excel is with the imagery. There are examples all across the album, but the particular one I want to call attention to here is the chorus (and a few other lines in verses) of Wake Up Alone and it's strict adherence to water metaphors that allow the listener to use previous lines as context to make the next one hit harder.
It gets fierce in my dreams seizing my guts He floods me with dread Soaked in sorrow, he swims in my eyes by the bed Pour myself over him Moon spilling in And I wake up alone
It's a phenomenal album and frankly I need to give it it's flowers more often.
The Japanese House - In the End it Always Does
If I had a penny for every time I loved a woman's bright, cozy, synthy indie pop solo act named after a Japanese noun I would have two pennies. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
In the End it Always Does is, as stated above, very bright and cozy. It feels intimate, like how I imagine skipping work to have a day of domestic bliss with a loved one feels. Within it, there is a sense of comfort, devotion, and a certain difficult-to-describe feeling of trying to make the most of a situation.
I think that's what separates it from their comparable contemporaries in The 1975. Both have a very similar approach to creating this vibey soundscape, but where The 1975 likes to get big and exuberant, and create a distance in a way, The Japanese House gets intimate as fuck. I love both approaches, I just bring this up to praise this album for taking (I assume) heavy inspiration from The 1975, whilst still creating an album that provides a very different experience.
D.D. Dumbo - Utopia Defeated
I wanted to shine a light on this one for it's individual, unique sound. While it's my favourite thing about the album, it does make it difficult to describe, so bear with me.
It's hard to determine whether most of the instrumentation in this album is digital or natural, because most instruments are either physical ones that are digitally distorted like crazy, or digital ones that are given convincing imperfections. Eventually, your mind will give up trying to decipher which is which and the music will become a hardened tapestry of sound that can't be separated, but which uses it's inherent, eerie dissonance to create a feeling of distant comfort.
This sound provides a great added layer of meaning to one of my favourites on the album, King Franco Picasso, a song about a cruel and violent autocrat, subjecting and killing freely. Sung through the perspective of a subject whose brother was murdered by this autocrat, the song touches on a guilt of inaction, which pairs with the distantly comforting sound to create an implicit revolutionary feel for me. As if there is hope on the horizon, and familial comfort in the past, but discomfort now.
underscores - Wallsocket
Whoever said this year has been bad for music needs to shush. We may not have the insane peaks of last year (Blue Rev, Ants From Up There, Hellfire, etc.), but right below that standard are swathes of incredible albums contending for album of the year, and this is yet another contender for me.
First, I'll discuss the sound of the album. There is never a moment on this thing, even the slow moments, where you're not forced into being engaged. Of course, the sound might not be to your tastes, but you cannot shrug this album off. It won't allow you to. It refuses to be dull. Refuses to be background music. The blend of indie rock with the chronically online musical vocabulary of hyperpop works so well to provide an experience that feels sincerely indulgent, creatively speaking. It also traverses genre so seamlessly and broadly that it honestly floors me. Particularly in those first three tracks.
Second, I want to quickly touch on themes. Nothing will make me adore an album like an eye for interesting subject matter. Straight-forward love songs or music about partying or feeling yourself or whatever can be good and all, but if you write about bank fraud (Cops and robbers), loved ones being enlisted (Shoot to kill, kill your darlings), or stalkers (Locals (Girls like us) & You don't even know who I am) then I'll be hooked. By the way, those examples are some of my favourites, but they're pretty much all like that. The album has a lot of interesting things to say.
Third and finally, there is a story to this album! I love when an album is well tied together, and perhaps the highest form of that ideal is a story album. I can't say I'm exactly sure what the story is yet, I only have bits and pieces right now, but it's an added element that drags out that bliss of a first listen to a great album
This is my Blue Rev this year, I think. Maybe not my favourite of the year, but definitely an album that I love dearly that I imagine will only grow on me over time.
Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
I found Olivia Rodrigo's sophomore album to be a massive leap forward. She's really started to establish a sound for herself that gives her plenty of room to experiment, and there is an added level of maturity to the album, even if what is being written about can often still be immature.
It's all about the change in perspective. On a good few tracks on this album, Olivia will give some acknowledgement of how other people feel about the things she's singing about, or will take some amount of blame when she's writing about something going wrong (unless it'd be weird to do so, such as on vampire). It makes the actual events feel more like a true representation of what happened, which I found allowed me to far more easily engage with the music and actually feel it.
I also appreciate the greater variety of sound on display here. On SOUR, I found that I got bored quite quickly with the ballads that made up a great deal of the album. They were mostly great songs, but they were either driver's license or more or less a worse version of it to my ear, so it made for a great collection of songs that I didn't care for as an album. Here though, there are ballads, there are pop-punk bangers, straight pop bops... It's not the most versatile album I've ever heard or anything, but I can't criticise that anymore, which is a big improvement.
I didn't hate SOUR, to be clear. I thought it was solid. But this was one of my favourite pop albums of the year, and it's incredible to see that Olivia Rodrigo is already starting to make good on her potential to be this generation's next undeniable pop star.
Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia
Chances are you don't need me to tell you how good this album is. I feel like there was someone in every musical subculture even remotely tied to pop telling everyone how much this album slaps. And it really deserves the hype. All the way from track 2 to track 9 there isn't a single track that wouldn't deserve to top the charts.
The album is incredibly groovy, very catchy, and one of the most fun albums you could possibly put on. If you're anything resembling a poptimist and haven't heard this yet, I highly recommend it.
Nina Simone - Pastel Blues
Nina Simone is one of jazz's most beloved vocalists, and for good reason. The music is largely pretty basic stuff, but her voice is so interesting and powerful that you're not likely to even notice when it is lacking. She just controls your attention with charismatic vocal performances that balance emotion with technical excellence superbly.
JPEGMAFIA - OFFLINE!
JPEGMAFIA is excellent at making a beat that absolutely shouldn't work just work. The amount of times he uses a vocal sample as a core element of an instrumental, then seamlessly raps over it without either getting too much attention is incredible. The example of that on this album is Hazard Duty Pay! and it is rightly held up as one of the best off this album.
Just because the beats are well balanced though, it doesn't mean it's easy-listening. If you want to grasp this album fully, it'll most likely demand a focused listen, probably even multiple. There is just so much going on at once, and Peggy isn't shy about using a sound for a one-off moment and not repeating it.
It's an incredible piece of art that demands attention, and repays it in abundance with both intricacy and power from the beats, and some really great lyricism too (especially on my personal favourite track REBOUND!)
Green Day - Nimrod
An incredibly underrated album in Green Day's discography. It is a moment where they began to expand creatively and do some more interesting stuff (arguably laying the groundwork for the pop-punk explosion that followed in the 00s), but without losing that initial identity of a bunch of shitheads making music. I don't think what followed was awful by any means, it gave us American Idiot after all, but it definitely lost something.
For me, that leaves Nimrod as the best album from this version of Green Day. Dookie gets plenty of praise for being the first big album of theirs, and a great one by all means, but I for one genuinely prefer this.
Laufey - Bewitched
It's not jazz. But it's very good. I love Laufey's voice, and the sound of this is so incredibly dreamy. From The Start is a great, bouncy tune that really does a great job of conveying a smitten tone, and the best incorporation of a "blah blah blah" I may have ever heard. Then there are songs like Misty, which (whilst it is not jazz) gives off the feeling of being in a jazz club late at night, commanding some degree of attention, but remaining cozy.
It takes the right mindset to appreciate, but if you can get into that mindset, it's one of the better albums of the year.
Sampha - Lahai
Yet another album of the year contender for me, but this one took a little growing on me (and a great turning the tables video on it) before I truly appreciated what it was doing. I can't quite remember what the turning the tables quote was, but one of them said something about how it felt like it connected you to nature, and I'd probably put it slightly differently, but with the same general message: it seems like music that was of the Earth. As if Sampha didn't necessarily create it, but instead mined it out of the ether, and introduced it to our mortal realm.
It feels soothing, cleansing, safe, and tender. If you give it even a little of your attention, it'll reward you and hold on tight to it for the duration of the album, and possibly a little longer. I'd call this one a must-listen for sure.

So, this is a masterlist no one asked for but I'm doing anyway. The song progresses and so does Catradora’s story in this. like, I feel the song starts when they are kids in the Horde and then teenagers promising each other they will rise in the ranks and rule the place and then after defeating Horde Prime and getting their new beginning.(And maybe both of them singing, but I feel Adora would fit better, dunno)

It’s her realizing that Catra is actually hurting her, and being angry and then letting go.(god this reminds me of a fanfic where catra stated that she was happy without Adora, could be happy without Adora. But with her, she could be happier)

Catra’s touch enlightened her, even though tarnished by their years of being enemies, it felt grand and it could chase the pain away; just for a moment, all her pain fit in Catra’s hand. But, she grieves for this touch for she knows it’s only a dream. Even though she’s now “covered” in Catra, she’ll never be able to fully have her, not when she’s so committed to She-ra.
“I wish to know/ The fatal flaw that makes you long to be/ Magnificently cursed/ He's in the room/ Your opal eyes are all I wish to see/ He wants what's only yours” -> now here she’s in the heart of etheria and wondering why would Catra want her so much when she knows she can’t have her, when she knows she’s doomed. the He in this is Horde Prime. As we see in the “future hallucination”, all she wants is Catra and he wants(to destroy ofc) what’s Catra’s only - herself.
“How's one to know?/ I'd live and die for moments that we stole/On begged and borrowed time/ So tell me to run/ Or dare to sit and watch what we'll become -> Adora know it’s only borrowed time, it will end and she feels like there’s nothing she can do about that.

just the message in general i think fits season 5 catradora very well. how, yeah, the pain sucks and it’s terrible but it won’t be for evermore. Justin’s bridge exemplify very well just the desperation of being in the middle of this whirlwind of pain, begging for a pause just to see if there’s any way to be recovered from that. it just so happens, there is. 
no exemples in this one, the vibe of speaks for itself and I’m rly tired right now.

Why would someone not like the name “Pebble Brain”? It’s a good album name! People seriously go around saying ‘brain rot' but then frown on ‘pebble brain’?
Yeah ikr! It's nothing spectacular, but it's a good name! It has nice sounds and a neat mental image, and is memorable. What else do you need
tbh I think it's just that initial shock and people being unused to it that had them be like :/ If you think about it, though, so many names and terms we use without a second thought are... really dumb. Pebble Brain is probably on that level of 'objectively dumb, but good'

You’re sat at a small two-person table, sipping your bottled water, when he slips into the seat opposite of you. You raise your head, not surprised that he’s known where to find you, single look at your deathly pale face tells him all he needs to know.
His fingers skim over the sapphire that adorns your left finger as he takes your hand in his and leads you out to his Dodge, opens the passenger door and watches in silence as you smoothly slide into the seat. You drive in silence, the air thick with thoughts and feelings that neither will ever voice.
So close yet so separate. Fallen leaves litter the drive and crunch underfoot as you walk to the front door.
It seems like only yesterday that you had last walked through the door into the home you had once shared, but in truth it has been over a year since your feet have last trod the well-known floor. You follow him into the living room and sinks into one end of the sofa.
The room hasn’t changed in the time that has passed, still warmly painted in shades of pale orange and yellow, he’d laughed at the colors you had chosen but had appreciated the effect as much as you had.
The lighting is dim adding to the air of warm sanctuary, in all your life you’ve never found anywhere you’ve found safer than wrapped in his strong embrace watching the fire dance in the fireplace.
He crosses to the drinks cabinet and without asking fixes your drink the same way he had many times before. He takes his vodka neat without ice; you take yours with lemonade with a dash of lime cordial.
You take the glass he offers and sips as he sits beside you, close enough that you could reach out and touch him, but still far enough away to be separate.
The heat from the fire is creeping around the room, seeping into your bones and easing the chill that surrounds your heart.
The gas flames licking over the simulated coals are reflected in your eyes. You place the glass on the floor and raises your head, feeling his eyes burning intensely into your neck. Your eyes met his and are caught and held by kyanite orbs, sapphire and every shade in-between.
"Do you want to tell me?"
It’s the first thing either of you has said. His voice is low and gravely with the same strong masculine edge that had entranced you from the first time you’d heard it, it seems so long ago now.
Your gaze drops and focuses on your hands, he slides close and raises your chin with an index finger the pad of his thumb running over the bruise that is already starting to form on your cheek, stroking the angry red mark.
A tremor runs through you as pain sears your flesh, but you can't bring yourself to turn away from his caress. Your eyes raise to his, the warmth swimming with unshed tears that are less to do with the pain in your body and more strongly related to the storm raging within your tormented psyche.
You think you must’ve wanted to tell him, for you find the words falling from your mouth.
You tell him of the demands your manager is making on you, the pressure you’re being put under to produce your fourth album, and fatigue of the constant touring and live performing.
Finely you tell him of the augments you have to go home to when you end up working late at the studio, arguments that would degenerate from verbal to physical and leave your body burning and bruised.
Tells him of the man you no longer stand to have touch you but cannot leave for fear of what he might do. When at last you wind down your feet are curled beneath you and you’re clutching a throw pillow to your chest.
His eyes, when you dare look at him, are dark seeming to have turned almost black by the mixture of fury, pain and desire that swirls in their kyanite depths.
He reaches out and after taking the pillow from your grasp, he pulls you close, he holds you gently as if you were a fragile porcelain doll, chipped and broken with a hairline crack running across your face.
You sit in silence for a long time, until your tears have dried to silky softness on your cheeks, the only sound the ticking of the clock calving eternity in to passing seconds.
"Thank you, Frank."
You whisper, unwinding your legs and making to stand. He takes your hand, his deep blue eyes still steady on your face, you offer him a won smile and kisses him lightly on the cheek.
Without hesitation he draws you in, before you can pull back, he’s returning your cheek kiss, then another, then his lips are sliding to your neck, your ear and finally your mouth.
You smell the familiar scent of sandalwood and forest, a scent you know as well as your own flesh and a million images burst in your brain. You feel the arms and chest you have known for years and that had once held only you.
You love making love with him, you always have.
From that first earthquake magic in an air-conditioned hotel room to the later years when it became slower, deeper, a melody you knew as well as that of your own soul.
Making love with Frank is all encompassing, pure sensation and total detachment. You need that now.
You need the familiar and comforting. The shattering of your consciousness and the stopping of time.
You think of trapped birds singing in cages, back hands stinging your skin, of loneliness and distance.
Then his hand slides to your breast and you think of nothing else.

In the flash of waking for a terrifying instant you don’t remember him, caught the limbo where dreams still cling to you, savior and tormentor are mixed and entwined.
But a moment later you recognize who he is, when he pulls you back towards him, strokes your hair, licks the shell of your ear and neck, then kisses your breasts and belly.
Finally, feeling him deep inside of you, you know he has made love to you many times before and dreads the thought of never feeling again in your entire life the way you feel with him.
All the while he is drinking you in, you feel yourself streaming down a corridor into a familiar place that is strange only because you’ve not visited there in so long a time.
Fear and euphoria crash and whirl together in a maelstrom that drives all reason from you as you become lost the force that is being loved by him.
No face reminiscent of any other, but the scents, the textures, the music were all carrying you across.
The room is a kingdom, the inside of a cup, the night pouring in tasting of mint. A flashback of a flashback: a swing and a child's foot, the space existed, in the same instant, in his fingers, in the air, in your toes, pressing like pebbles into his thighs. In the dark, you sense light.

When you wake next, you still lay entangled together, the blanket from the back of the couch has been pulled down to cover your bare bodies.
You lie atop him and looking down is mesmerized by the swallowing orbs the are intently watching you. For a moment you can’t place the sound that has awoken you until it comes again, the mechanical cheeping of your phone.
Your bag still sits propped against the side of the couch where you had placed it many hours before. Reaching for it you pull out the source of the disturbance, your eyes filling with distress as the name displayed on the screen registers with your still sleep addled brain.
Answering, you murmur a greeting and perhaps in some childish attempt to distance the voice on the other end of the line with the man lying beneath you, you sit up, the blanket rising with you. Your eyes fly wide and you bite down hard on your lip to keep a moan from escaping your throat, in rising so suddenly the angle of his penetration was abruptly changed sending a jot of pleasure through your body.
You turn your head and presses the phone close to your ear, yet still every word is carried to him in the still warm air. The tone is one of annoyance and is edged with steel; the words are barked questions that make his jaw clench in anger as he grinds his teeth together.
Your replies are stilted, and uncertainty fills your eyes making the dark pools seem deep enough to drown in. You turn your head further, unable to look at him while you lie to the disembodied voice, that demands of you in harsh and uncaring tones that split the air.
He feels his rage getting the better of him as he listens to the words that are dropping from your lips, you mumble down the phone that you’re fine and once again you have to bite hard on your lip to keep from crying out.
You look down at him, a single crystalline tear rolling down your cheek as your body shakes in the aftermath of the sudden pain. His eyes are not upon your face but upon his hand that is now stroking the vivid bruise that spreads across your ribs.
A bruise on which his fingers pressed a moment before, causing your stifled cry and confirming his suspicion of cracked ribs. Your free hand takes his, halting its movement, as your eyes silently beg him for something you too are unsure of.
"When are you coming home?"
The words are cold, the tone cruel and harsh, they carry clearly to him as you bite your already bleeding lip, the tears filling your eyes making them seem double their normal size.
He takes a deep breath and makes a split-second decision that he knows, no matter the outcome will change his life forever. Your hand is shaking as he gently takes the phone from you, eyes that could have read words painted on your soul never leaving your face.
"She is home."
Ending the call, he drops it to the floor, ignoring it when it almost instantly begins to ring again. Reaching out, he brushes the fallen tears from your face, watches as your expression changes from fear, to bewilderment, and then confusion is staring back at him from your face.
Wide eyes beg an unvoiced question, as you try to comprehend what is happening. He dips his head slightly in confirmation of what he knows you’re thinking and soft smile tugs at the edge of his mouth.
He caresses your face once more before pulling you down to him and gently kisses your lips tasting the salt of your tears in the corners of your mouth as he deftly guides your body into a better position.
A single, possessive thought runs through his mind.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer, at Theater 140
One foot in the past, the other in the future
Impressive concert by the English trio in front of a large audience
The direction of the Theatre 140 refused the world, Saturday evening, on the occasion of the first concert in Belgium of "Emerson, Lake and Palmer", English trio composed of the organist Keith Emerson, former leader of "Nice", the ex-guitarist of the "King Crimson", Greg Lake, and Carl Palmer, former drummer of the "Atomic Rooster".
The first, we knew him for having seen him at work in this same "140" and during the festival of Amougies. The mystery remained for the two acolytes. They did not disappoint.
In a disheveled first part, the group indulged in a re-creation of the famous "Tables of an exhibition", by Moussorgsky. While amputating the work of half of his paintings, he nevertheless kept as leitmotif the "Promenade", of which he offers a version sung by Lake.
If we except the melodic theme, the work has nothing in common with the original. As usual, Emerson works hard, giving the movements a rhythm of frantic galloping, supported by fifty speakers whose volume power reaches 5,000 watts (1,000 more than the "Black Sabbath") !!!
The Moog
The organist, moreover, wields a sound generator called "Moog synthesizer" (named after its inventor Robert Moog) which should, in the short term, explode the traditional canons of composition. The machine resembles a switchboard, and emits electronic sounds obtained through use and play on frequencies. The result is an explosive mixture of deflagrations, stridences and sound reverberations that border on the world of science fiction. Emerson uses it with an astounding relaxation if one thinks that the machine, whose value approaches 500,000 Belgian francs, has only just been perfected and that few musicians have a copy of it. However, let us quote Georges Harrison and Walter Carlos.
Impressive contrast that this sound of anticipation grafted onto a “mature” work.
It is undoubtedly the main merit of Keith Emerson to have known how to create an original musical universe, since we know his diligence in assimilating works of "veterans", such as Bach, Sibélius, Rachmaninoff by "working" them in a contemporary tone, a mix of jazz and "heavy" rock.
The second part, on the other hand, was more focused on local works. E., L. and P. started "Take a Pebble", a composition by Lake (taken from their last album), soft, warm, almost tender, in which the singer proved that it was better than the qualification of "making -valoir” which have been criticized by some critics, and that in any case, his voice surpassed that of Lee Jackson, the former partner of Nice.

It didn't take long to wait for Emerson's show. There is, in any performance of the English musician, a cinema side which amuses the first time, but ends up annoying the diligent observer in the long term since the gymnastics of the recital hardly increases the talent, which is great, virtuoso.
Emerson therefore took advantage of "Knife Edge" to give the measure of his athleticism ... His guinea pig organ, he shakes it, pats it, whispers crazy words in his ear, treats his brain, makes him stand up the notes on the head, overlaps it to finally sink under him before stabbing him, rage, with infinite delicacy! But the instrument has seen others and continues unperturbed, making its complaints about a star toy ...
The happening had the pleasure to please the subjugated public, and Emerson concluded on a climax, if I dare say, with "Nut Rocker", that it served admirably at the same time as Palmer went there, too , a long solo of drums and gongs.
Despite their penchant for technical virtuosity and overly intellectual coldness, Emerson Lake and Palmer gave the assurance, Saturday evening, that they behaved like instrumentalists capable of inventing a personal sound, often riddled with dazzling beauties.

A Better Man • Chapter 1
A story of the members where are all married and have kids.

The yellow ball of fire changed to hues of orange, and then almost tangerine. It merged with the sky, like juice-mix dissolving in a glass of  water. The clouds were cotton-candy, as though they blushed at the warm touch of the sun. Silhouettes of birds flew home across a sky that was now magenta; and the sun was half into the water, but its reflection in the sea made it look complete. The mauve of the dusky sky intensified, and in just a while, the biggest star had set, giving way to a thousand others.
The thrill of excitement hung in the air, as people stood outside the large building. "Over here!" A young girl, Lily called out to her friend, Sophia to join her and the rest of their friend group.
"Made it!" Sophia bounced off the ground with a big smile on her face.
"Oh my god," Lily clapped her hands. "I can't wait to see them!"
"I don't think I'm ready, but I know I am" said another one of their friends. Lily, Sophia and the others nodded.
Just then, the tall glass doors were thrown open by men dressed in black with the word SECURITY written on their t-shirts. And the crowd entered the building, showing their tickets and passes.
The crowd was a river of people, everyone moved in the same direction through the venue. There were only joyful faces as they head toward the hall for the greatest concert on earth - music to fill them chocked full of adrenaline pumping happiness. They moved not like pebbles in a jar, but like water molecules flowing smoothly past one another, friends stood together with fingers entwined.
The only light in the hall came from the stage, and there were a few people already claiming their seats. Surrounding the mosh pit were metal bars, then a few steps. To the back there was a balcony curving around the gall and then under that there were all the merchandising stalls.

The dressing room looked more a hotel suite than a backstage dressing room. The floor was covered in a deep red carpet, the white walls had frames of artists and their more popular albums. The two black sofas facing each other had a small coffee table sitting between them, and there were four dressing tables with mirror that had lights on the frames. And around the corner were the changing rooms.
"Where is Jin's blazer?" A young woman with long, brown hair that was loosely curled asked, as she looked through the suitcases. She had a porcelain-like face with brown-hazel eyes and plum lips. She wore black high waisted jeans with a silver ad gold chain attached to her belt, a Chanel cropped blouse and black and white trainers. This was Aliyah, a celebrity fashion designer. Aliyah was part Korean from her father's side and part british from her mother's, and she spent most of her time in London due to her studies, but her parents and family moved to Seoul after she started university.
A young woman with ginger hair stepped forward and held a black blazer that was inside a bag towards Aliyah. "Found it," she said.
Aliyah sighed in relief and got to her feet. "Jin," she called out. "Blazer."
A tall and slim young man with jet black hair, a warm undertone and brown eyes reached his hand out and took the blazer. Jin was the member of the group with a mother-mode personality. He cared for each of the members, was very confident in himself and his dad jokes never failed to make the members laugh. And his wife was no different. Anna was the female version of her husband. And they were also amazing parents to their two children.
Aliyah turned around to the four young men sitting on the leather sofas. There was Namjoon, who was the leader. He had a fair complexion with light blonde hair and brown eyes. He was also a deep thinker, emotional, analytical, and perfectionist. He was incredibly intelligent. But he didn't boost himself for that reason. He was the humble-type of person with many mature thoughts and ideas which lots of people of his age never bothered. He was also a father to a beautiful little girl, and was married to Aliyah's best friend, Andrea.
Sitting next to Namjoon was J-Hope, who had dark brown eyes and a light shade of brown hair. J-Hope was very friendly and knew how to make people laugh. He was also a good listener and an amazing father.
Opposite the two sat Jimin and Taehyung. Jimin had a pale mix between light blonde and golden yellow hair, light-honey-like skin tone and brown eyes. Jimin was the member of the pack who showed great personal warmth and made others feel valued and cared for. And like J-Hope he was also funny and friendly.
And sitting next to Jimin was Taehyung. Taehyung was extremely friendly and cheerful. He had dark hair, brown eyes and a warm undertone. He was a carefree guy who just liked to do what he wanted to without any worry, and was a father of twins; a boy and a girl.
The door to the dressing room swung open and in walked two young men, one had dark brown hair, a warm skin complexion and brown eyes. That was Jungkook. He appeared shy, but beneath that he could also be a clown if he wanted to be funny. He was also an amazing father to a beautiful girl and a handsome boy.
Aliyah reaches for her phone to check the time, when she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist. "I'm here to collect my reward?"
"Reward?" She frowned.
"I," Yoongi began, as he spun her around. "Got you a Dr. Pepper and Chocolate Buttons. Pay up." Aliyah laughed as she pushed herself up onto her tiptoes and kissed Yoongi on the lips. She was so happy that their last stop before going back to Seoul was London because not having to see Yoongi for months  and being away from Seoul made her feel homesick.
••• flashback five years ago •••
The party was going smoothly. Guest were having a good time and enjoying themselves. The light of day drained away, giving way to the velvety dark of the winter night, the air became colder, and the sky looked like a thick blanket was floating in the air.
"Just please, don't make a scene," a girl with loose, brown curls said. She had a fair complexion with brown eyes, her black dress reached just above the knee and showed off her figure.
"I won't," Aliyah held her hands up. Andrea held her gaze for a moment as if she expected her friend to laugh or catch a flicker in her brown-hazel eyes.
They walked though the crowd and greeted a few people on their way, until they reached a group of men with their backs turned to them. "Babe," Andrea chimed, and a tall young man turned around and his face lit up.
"Beautiful," he smiled at Andrea and kissed her on the cheek.
"Babe, remember Aliyah?" She asked. "I told you about her."
"Yes, of course."
Andrea wrapped an arm around her friend and looked at her boyfriend with a smile on her face. "Namjoon, this is Aliyah, she works as a fashion designer," she said. "Aliyah, this is Namjoon." Aliyah couldn't wrap her head around where she heard that name before and it made her brain ache. "He is part of a group called BTS," Andrea said, and Aliyah snapped her finger in her head. That's where you knew that name from.
Andrea's boyfriend looked at Aliyah and smiled as he held his hand out towards her. Aliyah looked at his hand for a second and then met his eyes again. There was a very intense pause in the air that made Andrea look at her friend with a worried expression.
Aliyah shook Namjoon's hand with a straight face. "Namjoon," she began with a serious tone. "It's nice to finally meet you."
"It's lovely to meet you as well," Namjoon smiles nervously.
Aliyah felt the young man's grip on her hand loosen, but she was not done with him just yet. She tightened her grasp on him. "Just to make one thing clear, Andrea is like a sister to me" she spoke in a low and calm tone while smiling softly at him. "So if you hurt her, I will make it look like you had an accident."
To say that Namjoon was taken aback by what Aliayh said would be an understatement. He felt a shiver run down his spine after those words left her lips. He swallowed and slowly nodded his head.
Aliyah tried to keep up her act a little longer, but watching as Namjoon's eyes shifted from her to Andrea as if he was screaming for help made her burst out laughing.
It's been a while, and Aliyah walked around the ballroom until she stopped at the balcony and stepped outside. The bitter breeze kissed her skin making goosebumps to appear on her arms and a shiver run down her spin. The orchestra had turned their music sheets over to the next song and the sound of a grand piano, violins and cello flooded the room.
The view was beautiful. The whole city came to life with explosion of illuminating radiation from well lit tall buildings, giant neon screens, bill boards, streets lights and streaming beam lights emanating from steady flow of vehicular traffics. It was a shame no snow had fallen during her time in Seoul. She really wanted to see what this city looked like covered in snow before she left for England after Christmas and New Year were over.
"The party is back here."
Aliyah turned on her heel at the stiffen unfamiliar voice, and found herself looking at a young man. He was slim and taller than her, and the way he held himself made him incredibly intimidating. His presence was intoxicating, and as she took him in she had to admit that he was in the fact, the most handsome person she'd ever seen. He wasn't just handsome, he was gorgeous. He had dark brown hair that fell just above his eyes, cheekbones and a jawline.
"Really? I thought it was back here," she replied sarcastically.
A chuckle escaped the young man's lips as he tucked both hands in his pocket and stepped outside on the balcony. "Then I've been attending the wrong party this whole time," he said, looking down at her.
Aliayh laughed and held her hand out towards the young man. "I'm Aliyah Lyon," she introduced herself.
The young man took her hand in a firm grip and shook it. "Min Yoongi," he replied.
"In that case,Yoongi, I want you to know,"she sighed. "I've alerted the police."
Yoongi looked down at the girl with his head slightly tilted to the side and confusion written over his face. "Why?" He asked slowly.
"Because it's illegal to be this handsome."
Yoongi tilted his head up towards the sky and laughed. The sound made her heart skip a beat and her ears ring with the chocolate velvety tone of his voice. He looked back down at her, still laughing and she could see that the laugh was not just in his face, but also in his eyes. It was a laugh from within.

Twenty minutes passed, and the people were starting to get frustrated because nothing was happening. A few started to ask the security and staff members around for information, but they were all given the same answer and told to return back to their seats.
"It was supposed to start by now," said Thomas. "Right?"
"What is going on?" Sophia panicked. "Do you think they will canc?—"
"DON'T EVEN FINISHED THAT SENTENCE!" Lily and Michael exclaimed.

"Alright," said Sejin, as he rubbed his hands together. "Are you guys ready?"
Jin scoffed as he stood up from the sofa and adjusted his blazer. "Worldwide handsome always ready," he said. Yoongi exhaled a sigh, making Aliyah laugh as they followed the others out.
The walk from the dressing room to the stage wasn't too long. On the way they met a few passers and workers who they waved and said hello to. Aliyah walked alongside Yoongi, their fingers intertwined as they followed closely behind Jin and Namjoon.
They finally came to a stop, and two bodyguards stood a few feet away from the group. "Alright," said Namjoon. "Hands in." Everyone held their arms out in the circle. "Hana, du, se! bangtan bangtan!" He said.
(One, two, three)
"Ba ba batang!" Everyone chanted together, and dropped their hands. This was something they did before every show.
Yoongi reached his hand out towards Aliyah and tugged her away from everyone. He cupped her warm and rosy cheeks in his hands and kissed her. Aliyah, no matter how many times Yoongi would kiss her it felt as if they kissed for the first time all over again.
Jimin and his fiancé, Sunny stood to one side and played out their handshake that ended with a kiss.
As for the other members wives they couldn't attended the concert, or even the tour because they had to look after the children.

The tension in the crowd began to make everyone feel impatient, and no matter who they asked that worked at the event they got no answers what so ever. It's been a few minutes since Thomas came back from asking one of the staff members about what's was going on and just as he was about to ask again a few lights turned into a neon blue while the other lights went off. The arena fell silent and the crowd froze as excitement slowly began to grow.
"If you need anything let any of the staff know," said Sejin, and the two girls nodded before he walked out of the room.
The lounge was massive. There was a bar with a bartender working behind the table, the lights hung down from the ceiling, there were a few people here and there taking in small groups and each of them greeted Aliyah and Sunny.
The two girls walked around the large leather sofa and stepped outside on the balcony just as the sound of drums and trumpets played just as the countdown started, and the arena, like a bomb exploded with cheering fans.
On the stage, the large screens showed a picture of each of the members one after the other with fire erupting from the sides of the stage and lights changing. And the song began with J-Hope talking away the first verse.

As the song progressed, the members of the group broke into a dance routine and the atmosphere in the arena became more hyped. Everyone moved to the beat of the song and it didn't matter if they sat, stood or danced on the side— no one could keep their bodies still. It was as though magic spells were leaving the speakers in the arena.
Just as the song was about to end the light lowered as sparkles explored from the corners of the stage. "Let's get this party started, ARMY!" Jimin shouted in his microphone and the crowd cheered in excitement.
