I was reading a book about marketing and they ended up touching on generations.
Despite my dislike for the generational mindset, that seems to ignore cultural nuances, social status and more often than not is used as a pretense to discriminate against people based on their age, I understand it's usefulness as a marketing tool.
What I do not understand is saying GenZ only communicates with images and it's "the Emoji Era" when I think I've seen older people use way more emojis than us.
It's not that we don't use them, we do, but:
It's definitely not as much as they make it seem;
We have a very specific way of using them, which may lead to occasional funny dissonances between how older people use emojis and how we perceive them (ex: using 💀 in a serious context).
It may just be me, though.

Heads up, UK friends.
Discord has implemented the age verification requirement system per the upcoming law going into affect later this week early, so prepare yourself for other sites, which may include Tumblr given the intent is to target adult content which may affect here because of how it still does get posted here, even if the intended targets are the actual site for it.
As of writing, the official petition to have the Online Safety Act repealed is close to 30,000 signatures, but it's barely enough to garner much attention to where it may be dismissed by Parliament, or may get discussed but not getting to where it'll be repealed to actually figure a system that doesn't carry the risk of private information getting leaked.
So again, please help spread and sign the official petition here.

it's crazy that you used to be able to look up specific clips from a tv show on youtube. now regardless of your search terms you get 6 unrelated promo reels from the show's official account, 6 unrelated clips of literally anything else youtube thinks you might click on, 6 unrelated promo reels from the network's official account, 6 more completely arbitrary recommendations, 6 show trailers and publicity videos of the actors by content mills called 'pop glutton' and 'comedy chunk' and finally raw gameplay footage of a mobile freemium slots game and a video essay called Liberals Can't Belive It: 10 Times Hitler Was Shockingly Woke

Man I just got a hand it to Leverage for being the best possible vehicle for explaining the evils of the world to a kid. My ten year old is currently deeply into Leverage, and we watch an episode together maybe three or four nights a week. Initially the draw was the heist (she saw Ocean's 8 and was delighted and wanted more), now she's hooked on the characters like we all are.
But man like. The kid learned tonight what child abuse was because she watched Eliot threaten to throw an abused down a stairwell and then make real damn sure the marshalls found that kid and helped him. Later while we're picking berries she says "hey mom, why do you think Eliot figured that out? Nobody else noticed that kid was in trouble."
"Huh yeah, that's a great question."
"is it just because he likes to hit people? But probably not, remember when Sophie said Eliot fights to survive."
Ten minutes later she says, "maybe he knows about that because it happened to him."
Five minutes later, "so maybe now he knows how to look out for other kids."
And then we talked about how teachers and doctors are mandatory reporters and what that means but like, her budding knowledge of adult life is couched in how people fight the bad shit and I fucking love it
