i dont know why but i actually love the idea that warriors is younger then the chain thinks he is. like theyre all sitting here thinking this is a 26/27 year old adult with his life together even time and wind, neither knowing how long ago the war actually was for him, and in reality he just 20-22 doing his best at just turning legal age to do anything

Since I noticed a couple Ghost Prince Danny things I decided to make my own, even if I don't know much about the series.
Vlad being the ever stupid fruitloop he is decided to try and steal Pariah's things again and woke him up again. Wanting a rematch he immediately stormed back to Amity Park, but before he dragged it back into the Infinite Realms for round 2 he overheard Danny talking to his friends about how he got summoned by the Justice League and through some hilarious misunderstandings on their part now think that Phantom is Pariah Dark's son and in turn the Ghost Prince.
Pariah, who surprisingly is ALSO a little shit at times (and is pretty much being called a little baby ghost's dad), immediately jumps at the idea of actually doing this hilarious prank and steals the group for sometime and manage to strike a deal that as long as he doesn't do anything horrible he won't be stuffed back into his coffin and they can do the bit. This ends up leading to Pariah Dark acting like Phantom's less than good of a person dad who actually starts to reform because he's too committed to the bit. This ends up leading to him, and everyone else, discovering he has surprisingly good parental instincts, having caused everyone to stop and look at him in confusion the first few (hundred) times he instinctively did a good parent thing.
Eventually though, something happens where Danny needs help but can't go to his friends or family, he can't go to the JL for help since he doesn't trust them and he's made it instinct to never go to Vlad, so he goes to the one ghost he does trust with this, Pariah Dark. It's at this point that Pariah realizes that it's no longer a bit and that he's become the closest thing Danny has to an actual parent, because let's be honest here, even if Jack and Maddie are good here they're still severely neglective of Danny and there's only so much Jazz can do while being 2-3 years older than him, and all the other ghosts who help him are more like mentors than actual parental figures.
Usually a ghost would have their parents to teach them if they're there as well, but Danny doesn't have good human parents and he died before they did, pretty much leaving him an orphaned baby, and no Justice League, JL Dark, or GIW will stop Pariah Dark from being the parent Danny desperately needs.

You know what would make the Lucky Charm more balanced? Make it so that there are times where other characters figure it out, not just Ladybug. That way, it doesn't make Ladybug hypercompent and makes it possible for other people to save the day.
I don't mind Ladybug being the one best suited to Lucky Charm. I don't think it makes her hyper competent because you don't need a Lucky Charm to save the day. It's just the way that she saves the day. The other characters should have their own unique talents that let them win fights. Generally speaking, that's how strong teams work.
For a random example, let's talk about the teenage mutant ninja turtles simply because I think most people know something about that franchise. The character Donatello (aka Donnie) is the team's tech guy. He makes all kinds of inventions that help them save the day. The show would not be improved if all four of the turtles were able to take on this inventor role. I'd argue that it would actually be lessened because the characters would become interchangeable. This is something that the franchise seems to agree with as each version of the show gives each turtle unique skills and personality traits that makes each of them indispensable in their own way, which is what I think Miraculous should have done with the temp heroes.
That being said, I do think that there's a way to make your idea work. I'd just go a slightly different, more lore balancing route since Lucky Charm is technically bad lore and you all know how I feel about bad lore. So let's talk about giving it a minor tweak and how I think that would actually improve things.
Tikki is supposed to be Creation, not Luck, so the Lucky Charm shouldn't have anything to do with Luck. It should just be pure Creation where the holder comes up with a thing they want and that thing then pops up. It could also have a give and take element where the holder gets what they asked for if they want something specific, but they could also just call the power as a hail Mary and Tikki would come up with something on the fly, leading to the occasional puzzle.
This leads me to my proposed changed.
I personally think it would be hilarious and honestly more fun for Marinette's character if she could summon anything she wanted, but the Lucky Charms stay exactly the same because that's just how her mind works. Even when Tikki is helping, it's still all wacky items because Tikki knows how Marinette is and just goes with it.
For example, in Copy Cat, Ladybug turns a spoon into a hook for a cobbled together fishing pole. Wouldn't it be even funnier if Marinette summoned a spoon on purpose because she was thinking of the makeshift thing she cobbled together in order to fish up something she dropped from her balcony? Then, post fight, Chat Noir praises her like always, only to then ask, "So why a spoon and not a fishing hook?" And Ladybug just stares at him because oh, right, those are things they make. She could have done that. Ooops.
And in Malediktator where she summons a sniper rifle to get a laser pointer? Well, she was thinking about this silly comic about a cat assassin! She totally spaced on the fact that you could just get a laser pointer by itself.
Eventually, her team learns to just go with it and not ask questions. Meanwhile, the general public thinks that the Lucky Charm is some random item that Ladybug has to figure out and no one bothers to correct this misunderstanding. You can even have a running gag of new team members learning the truth and going through the acceptance process of, "Hey, you try thinking up how to set a trap while a 5 meter tall lollipop is trying to crush you! Your mind goes to what it knows, not to the ideal solution, okay???"
If we go with this setup, then other people can wield the Ladybug and use Lucky Charm effectively, they'll just use it in a very different way from the way Marinette uses it. There will also be people who are just not suited to the Ladybug since that was initially how the powers were supposed to work and it made perfect sense. Kwamis should have ideal holders along with okay backups and terrible backups. I personally think Alya would be an okay backup since she's creative, but not creative in the same way Marinette is, leading her to be a lesser Ladybug. Adrien, on the other hand, should generally suck at the Ladybug as he simply doesn't have that style of creative thinking. Which is fine. Better than fine, even! You don't want your characters to be interchangeable! They should all have strengths and weaknesses!
This is one of the show's big flaws. Since everything is on Marinette's shoulders, the other characters rarely get a chance to shine and so they feel interchangeable. For example, if gift always shows the target what THEY want, then why does Rose need to be the one to wield it? Juleka could wield it just as easily. And if Ladybug is generally the one telling Marc and Nathaniel what to summon with their powers, then their creativity is not needed. Anyone could wield the rooster and the goat! The show has completely failed to understand what makes teams memorable and so we have a bloated, boring team whose presence I'm dreading because they had five seasons to set these guys up and yet here we are.

Being a dad wasnā€™t in Eddieā€™s plansā€”especially not as a single dad. He loved his daughter Selene more than anything, but raising a newborn at thirty was a challenge he never saw coming. Her mom, a groupie he met at the Hideout, appeared on his doorstep one day with a tiny bundle and the bombshell news that he was a father. Then, just as quickly, she vanished, leaving Eddie to figure out fatherhood on his own.
At first, it was overwhelming. Sleepless nights, diaper disasters, and the constant worry of not being good enough haunted him. But Eddie rose to the challenge. He became the best dad Selene could ask for. He let her dress him up like a princessā€”complete with tiaraā€”just to see her smile. He sang girly pop songs with all the enthusiasm of a rock concert, even if his Taylor Swift renditions were hilariously off-key. Seleneā€™s giggles were worth every missed note and awkward dance move.
As she grew, new challenges arose. Eddie was terrified of kindergarten and primary school, haunted by memories of his own school days filled with bullying and the heavy stigma of being a Munson. He worried Selene would face the same judgments and social struggles. The thought of her enduring what he went through kept him up at night. But his love for her was unwavering, and he vowed to protect her from the shadows of his past.
Dating fell by the wayside as Eddie devoted himself to Selene. His wild nights at the Hideout were replaced by Disney movie marathons and bedtime stories. He traded late-night parties for evenings filled with princesses, talking animals, and endless reruns of "Frozen." And truth be told, he wouldnā€™t trade those moments for anything.
This shift led to the current heart-to-heart with his friend Steve, someone Eddie never thought he'd befriend. As they sat on the couch, Eddie voiced his frustrations.
ā€œYou donā€™t understand, man. I canā€™t just go out and date any girl now,ā€ Eddie explained, sipping his cold beer.
ā€œI get it, but ever since Selene was born, you donā€™t go out anymoreā€”not even with us!ā€ Steve said, frustration evident. ā€œYouā€™ve turned into a hermit, man. You need a life outside of Disney movies and bedtime stories.ā€
Eddie sighed, staring at the flickering TV. ā€œI know, Steve. Itā€™s just... everythingā€™s different now. I canā€™t just drop everything and go out like I used to.ā€
Steve nodded sympathetically. ā€œI get that youā€™re a dad now, but youā€™ve gotta take care of yourself too. Maybe itā€™s time to dip your toes back into the dating pool. Who knows? You might find someone who understands and fits into your new life.ā€
Eddie let out a wry chuckle. ā€œI doubt that. What kind of woman wants a thirty-six-year-old guy with a daughter? Slim pickings, I tell you.ā€
Steve squeezed Eddieā€™s shoulder reassuringly. ā€œDonā€™t count yourself out, buddy. Weā€™ll find you someone.ā€
Eddie looked at Steve with a hint of resignation. ā€œForget it, Steve,ā€ he sighed. ā€œI think Iā€™m destined to be alone for the rest of my life.ā€ He rolled his eyes playfully, masking the underlying sadness with humor.
Just then, a small figure emerged from the hallway shadows. Selene stood there, eyes wide and thoughtful. Eddie and Steve turned, momentarily surprised.
Eddie's heart skipped a beat, realizing she had heard everything. He swallowed hard, unsure of what to say.
Selene looked up at her dad with a serious expression. ā€œDaddy, you donā€™t have to be alone. I can help find you a girlfriend!ā€
Eddie blinked, taken aback by her earnestness. He exchanged a surprised glance with Steve, who stifled a chuckle.
ā€œSel,ā€ Eddie started, his voice softening as he knelt to her level, ā€œItā€™s sweet of you to want to help, butā€¦ā€
ā€œBut what?ā€ Selene interrupted, eyes wide with determination.
ā€œBut itā€™s not that simple,ā€ Eddie explained gently. ā€œFinding someone special takes time, and they have to be someone who understands how important you are to me.ā€
Selene nodded thoughtfully, processing her dadā€™s words. ā€œOkay,ā€ she finally said, a small smile playing on her lips. ā€œBut when you find her, can we watch Disney movies together?ā€
Eddie couldnā€™t help but smile at his daughterā€™s innocence. ā€œOf course, sweetheart,ā€ he replied, ruffling her hair affectionately.
Steve watched the exchange with a fond smile. ā€œYouā€™ve got quite the matchmaker here, Eddie,ā€ he remarked, patting Eddieā€™s shoulder.
ā€œYeah,ā€ Eddie chuckled, his heart feeling lighter than it had in a while. ā€œSheā€™s something else.ā€
While Eddie and Steve chuckled over their beers, finding amusement in the situation, Selene had already made up her mind: she would find her daddy a girlfriend.
Returning to her room, Selene plopped down on her bed and began to think about all the adult women she knew. Well, there was the librarian, Mrs. Petterson, but she looked like an old owl with her thick glasses and constant "shushing." Then there was the girl from the bakery who always brought cakes for her and her daddy, but she smelled weirdā€”like a mix of flour and something Selene couldn't quite place, maybe too much vanilla.
She briefly considered the nice lady from the grocery store who always gave her stickers, but she remembered her loud, witchy laugh that made her shiver. And then there was Mrs. Hinkley, the neighbor with the ten cats, but Selene was pretty sure her daddy was allergic to cats.
She sighed dramatically and sank deeper into her pillow. Wowā€¦ It was so hard to get a girlfriend. It seemed like every woman she knew had some kind of issue or quirk. Just then, a light bulb went off in her head. She sat up abruptly, her eyes wide with excitement. Her kindergarten teacher, Miss Sunshine! Miss Sunshine was perfectā€”she was always kind, smelled nice, and most importantly, Selene adored her.
With renewed determination, Selene smiled to herself. This was going to work. It had to! She just needed to come up with a plan. After all, if finding a girlfriend for her daddy was this hard, actually making it happen would require all her wits and maybe a bit of luck.
That night, Selene went to sleep with her head buzzing with ideas. Tomorrow, her plan would begin. She could already picture it: Daddy and Miss Sunshine, happy together. Selene smiled to herself as she drifted off, dreaming of all the ways she would bring them together.
The next morning, Selene woke up with the first rays of dawn, excitement bubbling inside her like a fizzy soda. She could hardly contain her enthusiasm as she slipped out of bed and padded over to her dresser. Today was the day her grand plan would begin.
She chose her favorite princess dress, the one with sparkles and a twirl-worthy skirt, and carefully pulled it on. She took extra time brushing her hair, making sure it was smooth and shiny, just like a real princess. Finally, she checked her reflection and gave herself a big, confident smile. She was ready.
Eddie was already in the kitchen, juggling a frying pan and a coffee mug. He was making scrambled eggs and toast, a breakfast staple in the Munson household. He hummed softly to himself, enjoying the quiet morning routine.
Selene bounded into the kitchen, her dress fluttering around her. "Morning, Daddy!" she chirped, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Eddie turned, a broad smile spreading across his face at the sight of his daughter. "Good morning, princess! Youā€™re up early today."
Selene climbed onto a chair at the kitchen table, her excitement barely contained. "I have a special day planned, Daddy. Itā€™s very important!"
Eddie chuckled as he placed a plate of eggs and toast in front of her. "Oh? And whatā€™s so special about today?"
Selene leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Itā€™s a secret, but youā€™ll find out soon."
Eddie raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A secret, huh? Well, I guess Iā€™ll just have to wait and see."
After breakfast, Eddie and Selene headed out to the car. Eddie helped Selene buckle into her booster seat before climbing into the driverā€™s seat. As they drove to school, Selene hummed a happy tune, her mind racing with thoughts of how the day would unfold.
Eddie glanced at her in the rearview mirror, a soft smile playing on his lips. "You seem extra happy today, Sel. Anything you want to share with your old man?"
Selene giggled. "Not yet, Daddy. But itā€™s going to be amazing. Youā€™ll see."
Eddie laughed, shaking his head in amusement. "Alright, princess. I trust you."
When they arrived at the school, Eddie walked Selene to her classroom, as he did every morning. You were already there, greeting students with your usual warmth. Your bright smile and sunny demeanor earned you the nickname, and you was a favorite among the children and parents alike.
"Good morning, Miss Sunshine!" Selene called out as she entered the classroom, her excitement evident.
"Good morning, Selene!" You replied, your smile widening. "You look lovely today. Is that a new dress?"
Selene twirled around, showing off her outfit. "No, but itā€™s my favorite!"
Eddie watched the exchange with a fond smile before stepping forward. "Morning, Miss Sunshine. How are you?"
"Iā€™m great, Mr. Munson. How about you?"
"Canā€™t complain," Eddie replied, giving you a nod before turning to Selene. "Alright, princess. Have a great day. Iā€™ll see you later."
As soon as Eddie left, Seleneā€™s determination kicked into high gear. She needed to talk to you and set her plan in motion. She waited patiently until the morning activities started, then approached you with a serious expression.
"Miss Sunshine, I have a very important message for you," Selene said, her voice solemn.
You knelt down to her level, intrigued. "Whatā€™s the message, Selene?"
"Daddy wants to meet you," Selene stated confidently. "He said he needs to talk to you about something very important."
Your eyes widened in surprise. "Oh? Did he say why?"
Selene nodded eagerly. "Yep! He said he needs to talk to you about something super important."
Your mind raced, trying to decipher the meaning behind Seleneā€™s words. She assumed it must be related to Seleneā€™s behavior or perhaps a concern Eddie had about her schooling. "Is everything okay with you, Selene?"
Selene beamed. "Everything is perfect!"
You smiled, albeit a bit confused. "Alright, Iā€™ll make sure to speak with him when he comes to pick you up."
Eddie arrived at the school later that afternoon, looking forward to seeing Selene after a long day. As he walked towards the classroom, he noticed you standing by the door, a concerned look on your face.
"Hello!" Eddie greeted you with a friendly smile.
"Hello, Mr. Munson. Could I have a word with you?" you asked, your tone a bit more serious than usual.
Eddieā€™s smile faltered. "Sure, is something wrong?"
You glanced at Selene, who was busy drawing at a nearby table. "Well, Selene mentioned that you wanted to talk to me about something important."
Eddie looked puzzled. "She did? I mean, I guess thereā€™s always something to talk about when youā€™re a parent, but I didnā€™t have anything specific in mind."
You frowned slightly, your patience thinning. "She said you were concerned about something."
Eddieā€™s expression hardened, feeling a twinge of irritation. "Concerned? No, Seleneā€™s been great! I canā€™t think of any problems."
Selene, overhearing the conversation, decided to join in. "Daddy, did you ask Mrs. Sunshine to be your girlfriend yet?"
Eddieā€™s eyes widened in shock. "What? No, Selene, thatā€™s not what we talked about!"
Your cheeks turned a shade of pink, and you folded your arms. "Oh, I see. This is a bit... unexpected."
Eddie tried to regain his composure, his voice tense and a bit louder. "Iā€™m really sorry. Selene must have misunderstood our conversation. We were talking about... well, adult stuff, and she must have gotten the wrong idea."
You nodded, but your expression remained serious. "No harm done, but you should know what your daughter is thinking. Kids have such vivid imaginations, but itā€™s important to clarify these things."
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck, feeling his frustration rise. "Yeah, sheā€™s definitely got that. I hope this didnā€™t cause you any trouble."
You shook your head, your smile more strained than genuine. "Not at all, but maybe you should have a talk with her."
Selene looked up at both of you, confused by the adult tension but proud of her efforts. "So, you donā€™t want to be my daddyā€™s girlfriend?"
Eddie clenched his jaw, his frustration bubbling over. "Selene, I think itā€™s best if we leave this to the grown-ups, okay?"
Selene sighed dramatically but nodded. "Okay, Daddy."
You crouched down beside her, your tone softening. "Donā€™t worry, Selene. Your daddy and I are just friends, and thatā€™s important too."
Selene smiled, satisfied for the moment. Eddie stood up, feeling a mix of relief and lingering irritation.
"Thanks for understanding," he said, his tone sharper than intended.
"No problem at all, Mr. Munson. Have a good evening," you replied, matching his tone.
As they walked away, Eddie couldnā€™t help but feel a mix of frustration and embarrassment. Despite the awkwardness, he appreciated Seleneā€™s efforts but knew this was just the beginning of what could be a long, complicated journey.
Eddie and Selene walked to the car, Eddieā€™s mind still buzzing with the awkward exchange with Sunshine. As they buckled in, Eddie couldnā€™t hold back any longer. He needed to address what had just happened.
Eddie started the car, the engineā€™s hum filling the initial silence. He glanced at Selene through the rearview mirror, her innocent face reflecting none of the confusion and frustration swirling inside him.
ā€œSelene,ā€ Eddie began, trying to keep his voice calm, ā€œwe need to talk about what happened today.ā€
Selene looked up, her eyes wide with curiosity. ā€œDid you like talking to Sunshine, Daddy?ā€
Eddie sighed, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter. ā€œSelene, you told Sunshine that I wanted to talk to her about something important. Why did you do that?ā€
Seleneā€™s face lit up with a proud smile. ā€œBecause you do! You told Uncle Steve you wanted someone to share your life with, and I thought Sunshine would be perfect!ā€
Eddie groaned inwardly, trying to suppress his irritation. ā€œSweetheart, I appreciate what youā€™re trying to do, but you canā€™t just tell people things like that. It caused a big misunderstanding.ā€
Seleneā€™s smile faded, replaced by a look of confusion. ā€œBut I just wanted to help.ā€
Eddie glanced at her again, his frustration evident but softened by her earnest expression. ā€œI know you did, but grown-up stuff is complicated. You canā€™t just decide for someone else who they should be with.ā€
Seleneā€™s eyes welled up with tears, her lower lip quivering. ā€œIā€™m sorry, Daddy. I just wanted you to be happy.ā€
Eddieā€™s heart softened, his frustration melting away at the sight of her tears. He pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to look at her directly.
ā€œSelene,ā€ he said gently, reaching back to hold her tiny hand, ā€œI know you want to help, and I love you for that. But finding someone special is something that has to happen naturally. You canā€™t force it or plan it.ā€
Selene sniffled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. ā€œI just thought Sunshine would make you smile like she makes me smile.ā€
Eddie smiled softly, squeezing her hand. ā€œSheā€™s a wonderful teacher, Selene, and Iā€™m glad she makes you happy. But these things take time, and we have to let them happen on their own.ā€
Selene nodded slowly, understanding dawning in her eyes. ā€œOkay, Daddy. Iā€™m really sorry.ā€
Eddie leaned over and kissed her forehead. ā€œItā€™s okay, princess. Just promise me you wonā€™t try to set me up with anyone again without talking to me first.ā€
Selene nodded earnestly. ā€œI promise.ā€
Eddie started the car again, his heart feeling lighter. As they drove home, he couldnā€™t help but chuckle at the dayā€™s events. Despite the awkwardness and frustration, he knew Seleneā€™s intentions were pure.Ā
Later that night, Selene sat quietly in her room, her little mind racing with thoughts. The plan hadnā€™t gone as expected, but she wasnā€™t ready to give up yet. There had to be another way to get her daddy and Sunshine together. She picked up her favorite stuffed animal, Mr. Whiskers, and hugged it tight as she brainstormed.
"What if Daddy invited Sunshine to dinner?" she whispered to Mr. Whiskers. "Maybe then they could talk and get to know each other better."
She nodded to herself, feeling a new wave of determination. Tomorrow, she would find a way to get Daddy to invite Sunshine over for dinner. But for now, it was time for dinner with Daddy.
Downstairs, Eddie was busy in the kitchen, preparing their usual Wednesday night spaghetti. The aroma of garlic and tomato sauce filled the air, making Seleneā€™s stomach rumble. She hopped off her bed and made her way downstairs, her excitement momentarily forgotten as she thought about how much she loved spaghetti nights with her dad.
"Dinnerā€™s almost ready, princess," Eddie called out as he stirred the pot. "Can you set the table for me?"
"Sure, Daddy!" Selene replied, grabbing the plates and silverware. She carefully set the table, making sure everything was perfect.
Eddie brought the pot over and began serving the spaghetti, a warm smile on his face as he watched Selene carefully placing the forks and spoons. They sat down together, the cozy kitchen a safe haven for the two of them.
As they ate, Selene decided to ask the question that had been lingering in her mind for a while. "Daddy, why donā€™t I have a mom?"
Eddie froze, the fork halfway to his mouth. He put it down slowly, taking a deep breath. This was a conversation he had known would come eventually, but it didnā€™t make it any easier. He looked at Selene, her big, innocent eyes staring up at him, waiting for an answer.
"Selene," he began softly, "your mom... well, she wasnā€™t ready to be a mom. When you were born, she decided that she couldnā€™t take care of you, so she left. Itā€™s just been you and me ever since."
Seleneā€™s eyes filled with confusion and sadness. "But why did she leave, Daddy? Wasnā€™t she happy to have me?"
Eddieā€™s heart ached at the sight of her tears. He moved his chair closer to hers and pulled her into his lap, holding her close. "It wasnā€™t your fault, sweetheart. Your mom had her own problems and she made a choice. But I want you to know that you are the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you more than anything in this world, and I wouldnā€™t trade our time together for anything."
Selene sniffled, burying her face in Eddieā€™s chest. "I love you too, Daddy. But sometimes I wish I had a mom like the other kids."
Eddie stroked her hair, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, baby. I wish things were different too. But you have so many people who love youā€”Uncle Steve, Miss Sunshine, and all your friends at school. And no matter what, youā€™ll always have me."
Selene hugged him tighter, feeling the comfort of his embrace. "I know, Daddy. Iā€™m glad I have you."
They sat there for a while, holding each other, finding solace in their shared love. Eddie knew he couldnā€™t change the past, but he was determined to give Selene the best future he could. And maybe, just maybe, things would start to look up for both of them.
Later that night, as Eddie tucked Selene into bed, she looked up at him with a determined expression. "Daddy, can we invite Sunshine to dinner? Maybe sheā€™d like spaghetti too."
Eddie chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Weā€™ll see, princess. Letā€™s take things one step at a time, okay?"
Selene nodded, her eyes already drooping with sleep. "Okay, Daddy. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Selene," Eddie whispered, kissing her forehead. He turned off the light and closed the door, feeling a mix of hope and trepidation. Tomorrow was another day, and who knew what it might bring. But for now, he was grateful for the love he shared with his daughter, even if it was just the two of them against the world.
The next morning, Selene woke up with a renewed sense of determination. She jumped out of bed and dressed quickly in her favorite outfitā€”a bright yellow dress covered in tiny sunflowers. With a smile on her face, she ran downstairs to find Eddie already in the kitchen, flipping pancakes.
ā€œMorning, Daddy!ā€ she chirped, hopping onto her chair at the kitchen table.
Eddie turned around, a spatula in hand, and grinned at his daughter. ā€œMorning, princess. Youā€™re up early today.ā€
Selene beamed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. ā€œI wanted to see you before you go to work. Are you picking me up today?ā€
Eddie shook his head as he slid a pancake onto a plate and handed it to Selene. ā€œNot today, sweetie. Auntie Robinā€™s going to pick you up, remember? I have a late shift.ā€
ā€œOh, right,ā€ Selene said, her mind already racing with thoughts of her plan. ā€œDaddy, can we go to school a little earlier today? I want to show you something.ā€
Eddie raised an eyebrow, curious. ā€œEarlier? How early?ā€
ā€œLikeā€¦ really early,ā€ Selene said, trying to sound casual. ā€œMaybe before you usually leave for work?ā€
Eddie laughed, ruffling her hair affectionately. ā€œAlright, but not too early. I still need to get ready for work.ā€
Eddie pulled up to the school, glancing at the clock. They were a bit earlier than usual, but not by much. He parked the car and turned to Selene.
ā€œOkay, weā€™re here. What did you want to show me?ā€ he asked.
ā€œActually, Daddy, I just wanted to spend a little more time with you,ā€ Selene said, giving him her most innocent smile.
Eddieā€™s heart melted. ā€œAlright, letā€™s go inside.ā€
As they walked towards the school entrance, they spotted you, rushing around with a stack of papers in your hands. You looked frazzled and stressed, clearly having a hectic morning.
Selene tugged on Eddieā€™s hand. ā€œLook, Daddy! Thereā€™s Sunshine!ā€
Eddieā€™s eyes widened. ā€œSelene, waitā€”ā€
But it was too late. Selene had already run over to you, waving enthusiastically. ā€œHi, Sunshine!ā€
You looked up, startled. ā€œOh, hi Selene. Good morning, Mr. Munson.ā€
Eddie gave an awkward wave. ā€œMorning. Sorry, weā€™re here a bit early today.ā€
You forced a smile, clearly in a rush. ā€œItā€™s alright, but Iā€™m kind of busy right now. I have a meeting to get to.ā€
Selene, undeterred, piped up. ā€œDaddy wanted to talk to you again!ā€
Eddieā€™s face flushed with embarrassment and a hint of anger. ā€œSelene, I didnā€™tā€”ā€
Just then, another teacher approached you, whispering urgently in your ear. You glanced at Eddie and Selene, then at your watch, your frustration mounting.
ā€œIā€™m really sorry, but I need to go,ā€ you said, trying to keep your voice calm. ā€œMaybe another time?ā€
Eddie nodded, feeling awkward and out of place. ā€œYeah, of course. Sorry to bother you.ā€
As you turned to leave, Eddie realized that in his haste to follow Selene, he had parked his car in a way that was now blocking yours. You tried to get into your car, only to see that you couldnā€™t back out.
ā€œSeriously?ā€ you muttered under your breath, turning back to Eddie with a frown. ā€œMr. Munson, your car is blocking mine.ā€
Eddieā€™s face turned red, a mix of frustration and embarrassment boiling inside him. ā€œOh, crap. Iā€™m so sorry. Iā€™ll move it right now.ā€
You sighed, your frustration clear. ā€œIā€™m going to be late for a really important meeting because of this.ā€
Eddie hurried to move his car, his movements jerky and tense. The damage was done; you were visibly upset, and he could feel the tension building. As soon as he reparked, you got into your car, throwing him one last irritated glance before driving off.
Selene stood by the curb, her face falling as she watched the scene unfold. Eddie walked back to her, his expression a mixture of anger and embarrassment.
ā€œDaddy, Iā€”ā€
Eddie cut her off, his tone harsher than he intended. ā€œSelene, what were you thinking? You canā€™t just drag me over to talk to Sunshine.ā€
Seleneā€™s eyes welled up with tears, her lower lip trembling. ā€œI just wanted you to be happy, Daddyā€¦ā€
Eddieā€™s anger softened, replaced by a pang of regret. He knelt down and pulled her into a hug, feeling her small body shake with sobs. ā€œI know, baby. I know. But we need to think things through before we act. You canā€™t just spring stuff like this on people.ā€
Selene sniffled, nodding against his chest. ā€œIā€™m sorry, Daddy.ā€
Eddie sighed, rubbing her back gently. ā€œItā€™s okay, Sel. Letā€™s just get you to class, alright? Weā€™ll figure this out.ā€
As he walked Selene to her classroom, Eddie couldnā€™t shake the feeling of frustration and embarrassment. This wasnā€™t how he wanted things to go, and now he had made things even more awkward with you. The misunderstanding was only growing, and he worried about how they would ever get past it.
Later that day, Auntie Robin arrived to pick up Selene. She noticed Eddieā€™s tense expression and Seleneā€™s subdued demeanor.
ā€œWhat happened?ā€ Robin asked, concerned.
Eddie sighed. ā€œLong story. Selene tried to play matchmaker again, and it didnā€™t go well.ā€
Robin shook her head with a sympathetic smile. ā€œKids, huh? Donā€™t worry, dingus. Itā€™ll work out eventually.ā€
Eddie nodded, hoping she was right. As he watched Robin drive away with Selene, he couldnā€™t help but wonder how he was going to fix this mess. And more importantly, how he could protect Seleneā€™s heart in the process.
He spent the rest of the day feeling uneasy. As he went through his work shift, his mind kept drifting back to the incident at school. He couldnā€™t shake the image of your frustrated expression or Seleneā€™s teary eyes. He knew he had to make things right.
During his lunch break, Eddie sat in the break room, staring at his phone. The idea of apologizing made his stomach churn with nerves, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He dialed Robinā€™s number, hoping for some advice.
ā€œHey, dingus! Howā€™s it going?ā€ Robinļæ½ļæ½s cheerful voice greeted him.
ā€œHey, Robin. I need your help with something,ā€ Eddie replied, his voice heavy with the weight of his thoughts.
ā€œSure, whatā€™s up?ā€ she asked, sensing his seriousness.
Eddie took a deep breath. ā€œItā€™s about this morning. Selene and I had a bit of a run-in with her teacher. It was really awkward andā€¦ I kind of snapped at Selene.ā€
Robin listened patiently as Eddie recounted the events of the morning. ā€œSounds like a rough start to the day,ā€ she said sympathetically. ā€œBut hey, kids have big hearts and even bigger imaginations. Selene was just trying to help.ā€
ā€œI know,ā€ Eddie sighed. ā€œI feel terrible. I need to apologize to her, but I just donā€™t know how to go about it.ā€
ā€œWell,ā€ Robin began thoughtfully, ā€œwhy donā€™t you write her a note? Explain what happened and say youā€™re sorry. Itā€™ll show youā€™re sincere.ā€
Eddie nodded, feeling a bit of relief at having a plan. ā€œThanks, Robin. Iā€™ll do that.ā€
After work, Eddie picked up Selene from Robinā€™s house. As they drove home, Selene sat quietly in the back seat, her earlier enthusiasm dampened by the morningā€™s events.
ā€œHey, Sel,ā€ Eddie said softly, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. ā€œIā€™m going to write a note to Miss Sunshine to apologize. Do you want to help me?ā€
Seleneā€™s eyes brightened a little. ā€œCan I draw a picture for her too?ā€
Eddie smiled. ā€œThatā€™s a great idea, princess. Iā€™m sure sheā€™d love that.ā€
Once they were home, Eddie and Selene sat at the kitchen table. Eddie began writing the note while Selene drew a colorful picture of their family, complete with you standing next to them with a big smile.
Eddieā€™s note:
"Dear Y/n,
I wanted to apologize for the misunderstanding this morning. Selene and I didnā€™t mean to cause any trouble. She was just excited, and I didnā€™t handle the situation as well as I should have. Iā€™m really sorry for blocking your car and making you late for your meeting.
Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can move past this.
Sincerely, Eddie Munson"
Eddie read the note out loud to Selene, who nodded approvingly. ā€œThat sounds good, Daddy.ā€
ā€œAlright, letā€™s put this together,ā€ Eddie said, taping Seleneā€™s drawing to the note. ā€œWeā€™ll give it to her tomorrow.ā€
The next morning, Eddie felt a mix of nervousness and anxiety as he and Selene arrived at the school. They waited until you had a free moment, then approached you with the note and drawing in hand.
ā€œHey,ā€ Eddie began, his voice earnest. ā€œI wanted to give you this. Itā€™s an apology for yesterday.ā€
You took the note and drawing, your expression softening as you read Eddieā€™s heartfelt words and admired Seleneā€™s artwork.
ā€œThank you, Mr. Munson,ā€ you said, smiling at Selene. ā€œAnd thank you, Selene, for the beautiful drawing.ā€
Eddie felt a wave of relief wash over him. ā€œIā€™m really sorry for everything. It wonā€™t happen again.ā€
You nodded, the tension between you easing. ā€œI appreciate the apology. Letā€™s just start fresh, okay?ā€
Eddie smiled, feeling hopeful for the first time in days. ā€œSounds good to me. Have a great day, Miss Sunshine.ā€
The school day was moving along smoothly, but you couldnā€™t help but notice that Selene seemed quieter than usual. Typically, she was a bundle of energy, chatting with friends and eagerly participating in activities. Today, however, she was more subdued, her usual spark dimmed.
During arts and crafts time, Selene sat at her table, her crayons barely moving across the paper. You watched her for a moment, concern growing. Deciding to check in, you walked over and knelt beside her.
ā€œHey, Selene,ā€ you said softly. ā€œWhat are you drawing?ā€
She looked up at you with big, sad eyes. ā€œIā€™m drawing my family,ā€ she said quietly. On the paper, you saw a simple drawing of a house, with stick figures representing her and her dad. There was also a faint outline of a figure beside them, but it was left unfinished.
ā€œThatā€™s a lovely drawing,ā€ you said, trying to encourage her. ā€œWhoā€™s that?ā€ you asked, pointing to the unfinished figure.
Selene hesitated, her lip quivering. ā€œI wanted to draw my mom, but I donā€™t really know what she looks like.ā€
Your heart ached for her. You knew from previous conversations with Eddie that Seleneā€™s mother wasnā€™t in the picture, but seeing the impact it had on her was heartbreaking. You placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. ā€œItā€™s okay, Selene. Your drawing is beautiful just the way it is.ā€
She gave a small nod, but her eyes remained downcast. ā€œI just wish I knew her,ā€ she whispered.
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. ā€œI know itā€™s hard, sweetie. But you have your dad, and he loves you very much. And you have all of us here, too.ā€
Selene offered a small smile, but it didnā€™t reach her eyes. ā€œThanks, Miss.ā€
The rest of the day, you kept an eye on her, making sure she felt included and supported. As the school day ended, you saw Eddie arrive to pick her up. You decided it might be a good idea to talk to him about Seleneā€™s mood.
ā€œHi, Mr. Munson,ā€ you greeted him as he approached.
ā€œHi,ā€ he replied, managing a smile. ā€œHow was Selene today?ā€
You hesitated, not wanting to alarm him but feeling it was important to share. ā€œShe was a bit quieter than usual. I think she might be feeling a bit down.ā€
Eddieā€™s brow furrowed in concern. ā€œReally? Did she say why?ā€
ā€œShe mentioned something about her mom,ā€ you said gently. ā€œI think sheā€™s just having a hard time with it.ā€
Eddie sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. ā€œYeah, she asked me about her mom other day, I tried to explain, but itā€™s tough. She doesnā€™t understand why her mom isnā€™t around.ā€
You nodded, understanding the difficult position he was in. ā€œIf thereā€™s anything I can do to help, please let me know.ā€
ā€œThanks,ā€ Eddie said, his gratitude evident. ā€œI appreciate it.ā€
As they walked away, you couldnā€™t help but feel a deep empathy for both Eddie and Selene.
Later that evening, as you prepared for bed, you couldnā€™t stop thinking about Seleneā€™s sad eyes and Eddieā€™s worried expression. You resolved to keep an extra close eye on Selene in the coming days, doing whatever you could to bring a bit of sunshine back into her life.
Over the next few days, Seleneā€™s sadness seemed to deepen. Her usually bright eyes were often downcast, and her infectious laughter was rarely heard. It was as if a cloud had settled over her, and it worried you deeply.
In class, she no longer eagerly raised her hand to answer questions or shared her imaginative stories with the group. She would sit quietly, barely engaging in activities that she used to love. During recess, instead of running around with her friends, she would find a quiet corner to sit and watch the other kids play.
One morning, as you were preparing for the dayā€™s lessons, you noticed Selene sitting alone on the swings. She was gently swaying back and forth, her gaze fixed on the ground. You decided to take a moment to check on her.
ā€œHey, Sel,ā€ you said softly, sitting on the swing next to her. ā€œDo you want to talk about whatā€™s been bothering you?ā€
Selene shrugged, not meeting your eyes. ā€œI miss my mom,ā€ she said quietly. ā€œI donā€™t even know her, but I miss her.ā€
Your heart broke for her. ā€œI know itā€™s really hard, sweetie. Itā€™s okay to feel sad and miss someone, even if you havenā€™t met them.ā€
She nodded, her small hands gripping the chains of the swing tightly. ā€œDaddy tries to make me feel better, but I can tell heā€™s sad too.ā€
You sighed, wishing there was more you could do to ease her pain. ā€œYou know, Selene, you have a lot of people who care about you. Your dad and all your friends here. Weā€™re all here for you.ā€
She gave a small nod, but the sadness in her eyes remained.
Eddie was at his wit's end. Heā€™d noticed the change in Seleneā€™s behavior, and it tore him apart. She was his world, and seeing her so downcast made him feel helpless. Every evening, he tried to cheer her up with her favorite activities ā€“ watching Disney movies, playing dress-up, reading her favorite bedtime stories ā€“ but nothing seemed to lift her spirits.
One night, as he tucked her into bed, he tried to talk to her again. ā€œSelene, sweetie, I can tell youā€™ve been really sad lately. Can you tell me whatā€™s going on?ā€
Selene looked up at him with teary eyes. ā€œI just miss my mom, Daddy. I donā€™t understand why sheā€™s not here.ā€
Eddieā€™s heart ached. He wished he could give her the answers she needed. ā€œI know, sweetheart. I wish I could change things, but sometimes people make choices that hurt us, even if they donā€™t mean to.ā€
Selene sniffled, wiping her eyes. ā€œWill she ever come back?ā€
Eddie swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her question. ā€œI donā€™t know, Sel. But what I do know is that I love you more than anything, and Iā€™m always going to be here for you.ā€
Selene nodded, her little face still filled with sadness. ā€œI love you too, Daddy.ā€
As she drifted off to sleep, Eddie sat by her bedside, feeling a mixture of anger and sorrow. He hated that he couldnā€™t make things better for her, that he couldnā€™t erase the pain of her motherā€™s absence.
The following day, Eddie arrived at school early, looking more haggard than usual. You could see the worry etched on his face as he walked Selene to her classroom. After she settled in, he approached you, running a hand through his hair.
ā€œHey,ā€ he began, his voice strained. ā€œIā€™m really worried about Selene. Sheā€™s been so sad, and I donā€™t know what to do.ā€
You nodded, understanding his concern. ā€œIā€™ve noticed it too. Sheā€™s been very quiet and withdrawn. Have you thought about maybe talking to a counselor? It might help her to have someone to talk to about her feelings.ā€
Eddie sighed, leaning against the doorframe. ā€œYeah, Iā€™ve thought about it. I just want to fix it myself, you know? I hate seeing her like this.ā€
ā€œI know,ā€ you said softly. ā€œBut sometimes, we all need a little extra help. It doesnā€™t mean youā€™re not doing enough; it just means that there are people who can support you both.ā€
He nodded, looking down the hallway where Selene was sitting quietly at her desk. ā€œIā€™ll think about it. Thanks, Y/n.ā€
As the days continued, you kept a close eye on Selene, doing your best to engage her in class and offering her extra support.Ā
As the days passed and Seleneā€™s sadness persisted, an idea sparked in your mind. Maybe a change of scenery and a special treat would help lift her spirits. You approached Eddie one afternoon after school, catching him as he was picking up Selene from her classroom.
ā€œHey, Mr. Munson,ā€ you greeted him with a warm smile. ā€œI was thinking, maybe Selene could use a little outing to the park this weekend. How about we take her for some ice cream?ā€
Eddie looked at you, surprise flickering in his tired eyes. ā€œIce cream?ā€
You nodded enthusiastically. ā€œYeah! Sometimes a little treat and some fresh air can do wonders. What do you think?ā€
Eddie glanced down at Selene, who was quietly packing her backpack. He could see the traces of sadness lingering on her face. ā€œI think that sounds like a great idea,ā€ he said finally, offering you a grateful smile.
Eddie watched as Selene perked up at the mention of ice cream. Her eyes lit up with a spark of excitement that he hadnā€™t seen in days. He couldnā€™t remember the last time they had gone out for a treat like that together. Maybe this was just what she needed.
That weekend, Eddie and Selene met you at the park. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the playground. Selene ran ahead, eager to explore the swings and slides while you and Eddie followed close behind.
ā€œYouā€™re really good with her, you know,ā€ Eddie said as he watched Selene climb onto the swings.
You smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. ā€œSheā€™s a special girl. Just trying to help.ā€
Eddie nodded, grateful for your support. ā€œI appreciate it. And thanks for suggesting this. I think itā€™s just what she needed.ā€
As Selene laughed and played, her laughter echoing through the park, Eddie felt a weight lift off his shoulders. For the first time in days, he saw a glimmer of joy in her eyes. Maybe things would be okay after all.
Watching Selene laugh and play brought a sense of joy to your heart. She deserved moments like this ā€“ carefree and happy. You glanced at Eddie, seeing the relief on his face as he watched his daughter.
ā€œIā€™m glad sheā€™s enjoying herself,ā€ you said softly, leaning closer to Eddie.
He nodded, his gaze never leaving Selene. ā€œYeah, me too. Thanks for suggesting this.ā€
ā€œItā€™s my pleasure,ā€ you replied sincerely. ā€œIf thereā€™s anything else I can do to help, just let me know.ā€
Eddie turned to you, a grateful smile spreading across his face. ā€œYouā€™ve already done a lot. I appreciate it.ā€
As the afternoon wore on, you and Eddie joined Selene on the playground, pushing her on the swings and chasing her around the jungle gym. For a few hours, Seleneā€™s sadness seemed to melt away, replaced by laughter and the simple joy of being a kid.
As the sun began to set, you all sat on a bench, enjoying the last rays of warmth. Eddie glanced at you, his eyes softening with gratitude. ā€œThanks for today,ā€ he said quietly. ā€œIt meant a lot to both of us.ā€
You smiled warmly. ā€œAnytime, Eddie. Sheā€™s lucky to have you.ā€
He nodded, a hint of emotion in his voice. ā€œAnd weā€™re lucky to have you too.ā€
After their afternoon at the park, Eddie noticed a slight change in Selene. She seemed more like herself again, her laughter returning and a sparkle in her eyes. It gave him hope that maybe things were turning around.
That evening, as they settled in for dinner, Selene looked up at Eddie with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Daddy, can we invite Miss Y/n to come over for dinner sometime? And maybe we can watch Disney movies together?"
Eddie paused, caught off guard by Selene's request. He glanced at her, unsure of how to respond. The idea of spending more time with you outside of school was both appealing and nerve-wracking. But seeing the hopeful look on Selene's face, he couldn't bring himself to say no.
"Sure, Sel," Eddie replied with a small smile. "I can ask Miss Y/n if she'd like to join us sometime."
The next day at school, you were surprised when Eddie approached you after class. He seemed a bit nervous, scratching the back of his neck as he spoke.
"Hey, Y/n," Eddie started, his voice slightly hesitant. "So, uh, Selene mentioned something last night..."
You raised an eyebrow, curious about what Selene had said. "Oh? What did she say?"
Eddie cleared his throat, trying to keep his tone casual. "She asked if you would like to come over for dinner sometime. And maybe we could watch some Disney movies together."
Your heart warmed at Selene's invitation. "That sounds like a lot of fun, Eddie. I'd love to join you and Selene for dinner."
Eddie smiled, relief evident on his face. "Great. How about this Friday? I can cook something, and we can pick out a couple of Selene's favorite movies to watch."
You nodded, feeling excited about the prospect of spending more time with them outside of school. "Friday sounds perfect. I'm looking forward to it."
As you walked away, you couldn't help but smile to yourself. Selene's idea had sparked something hopeful in both Eddie and yourself.
Friday evening arrived faster than Eddie anticipated. He had spent the entire week trying to decide on a menu that would impress you without overdoing it. Cooking wasn't his forte, but for Selene's sakeā€”and now yoursā€”he was determined to make a good impression.
As he chopped vegetables in the kitchen, Selene sat at the dining table, coloring a picture of her favorite Disney princess. Eddie stole glances at her every now and then, grateful for her infectious enthusiasm that kept his nerves at bay.
"Daddy, are you nervous?" Selene suddenly asked, looking up from her drawing.
Eddie chuckled nervously, wiping his hands on a dish towel. "Maybe a little. I just want everything to go well tonight."
Selene smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, Daddy. she likes you and me. She'll have fun."
Eddie's heart warmed at Selene's words. He hoped she was right. Just then, the doorbell rang, and Eddie felt a jolt of nerves shoot through him. Taking a deep breath, he hurried to answer it.
You stood nervously outside Eddie's door, fidgeting with the hem of your sweater. Despite your efforts to remain calm, your heart raced with anticipation. You had been looking forward to this evening all week, eager to spend more time with Eddie and Selene outside of school.
When Eddie opened the door, your breath caught in your throat at the sight of him. He wore a simple button-up shirt and jeans, looking handsome and slightly flustered with a hint of a smile on his lips.
"Hey, Y/n," Eddie greeted you warmly, though you detected a touch of nervousness in his voice.
"Hi, Eddie," you replied with a smile, trying to hide your own nerves. "I brought some dessert."
Eddie stepped aside to let you in, and you entered the cozy apartment, greeted by the inviting aroma of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. Selene rushed over, her face lighting up with excitement.
"Miss Y/n, you're here!" she exclaimed, hugging you tightly. "Come see what Daddy's making!"
You laughed, returning her hug warmly. "I can't wait to see, Selene."
As you followed Selene into the kitchen, Eddie busied himself with setting the table, stealing glances at you whenever he thought you weren't looking. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of nervousness and excitement at having you here with them.
"So, um, how was your day?" Eddie asked awkwardly, trying to make conversation as he stirred a pot on the stove.
You smiled, appreciating his effort. "It was good, thank you. How about you? Busy day at work?"
Eddie nodded, a hint of relief in his voice. "Yeah, pretty busy. But I managed to leave early to get everything ready."
The three of you settled into an easy rhythm, chatting and laughing as Eddie finished cooking. Selene eagerly showed you her latest drawings and told you all about her favorite Disney movies. Eddie couldn't help but notice how comfortable you seemed with them both, and it eased some of his initial nerves.
Finally, dinner was ready, and Eddie served up the meal he had preparedā€”a hearty pasta dish with a side of garlic bread. As you all sat down to eat, the conversation flowed naturally, filled with laughter and shared stories.
Eddie caught himself stealing glances at you throughout the evening, feeling a warmth spread through him every time your eyes met. He was grateful that Selene had suggested this, bringing you all together in a way that felt natural and comforting.
As the evening drew to a close, Eddie cleared the table while you and Selene curled up on the couch to watch a Disney movie. Eddie joined you both after cleaning up, sitting on the other end of the couch with a contented sigh.
As the movie played, Selene nestled against you, occasionally glancing up at Eddie with a knowing smile.Ā
After a delightful evening of dinner and Disney movies, Selene yawned and rubbed her eyes sleepily. "I'm tired, Daddy," she murmured, pushing herself up from the couch.
Eddie smiled warmly at her. "Alright, princess. Time for bed."
Selene nodded, giving you a sleepy wave. "Goodnight, Sunshine. Thanks for coming over."
You returned her wave with a gentle smile. "Goodnight, Selene. It was my pleasure."
As Selene disappeared into her room, Eddie settled back on the couch, his expression relaxed yet thoughtful. He glanced at you, a slight nervousness evident in his eyes.
"That was... really nice," Eddie said, breaking the quiet that had settled over them.
You nodded, feeling a sense of contentment in the air. "Yeah, it was. Selene's a sweet kid."
Eddie chuckled softly. "She is. And she really likes you, you know."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words. "I like her too."
There was a brief pause as Eddie seemed to gather his thoughts. Finally, he spoke again, his voice soft but determined. "Y/n, I... I've been wanting to ask you something."
Your heart skipped a beat, sensing the seriousness in Eddie's tone. "What is it, Eddie?"
He met your gaze, his eyes searching yours. "Would you... would you like to go out with me sometime? Just the two of us?"
You felt a rush of emotionsā€”surprise, happiness, and a touch of nervousness. But above all, there was a genuine warmth in Eddie's request that made your decision easy.
"I'd love to, Eddie," you replied sincerely, a smile spreading across your face. "I'd really like that."
Relief washed over Eddie's features, followed by a shy smile. "Great. How about we plan something for next weekend?"
You nodded eagerly. "That sounds perfect."
You realized it was late and got up to leave, at the door, Eddie's nervousness melted away as he leaned in slightly, pressing a gentle kiss on your cheek. It was brief but filled with unspoken warmth and the promise of more to come. You smiled softly at him, feeling a rush of happiness as you realized this was the beginning of something special between you.
"Goodnight, Sunshine," Eddie murmured, his voice tinged with affection.
"Goodnight, Eddie," you replied softly, your heart fluttering with anticipation for the days ahead.
It was a perfect end to a memorable evening, and you couldn't wait to see what the future held for all three of you.

Even though today's new chapter was pretty funny, it also reinforces how Damian's need to act indifferent and even hostile towards Anya stems from emotional baggage from his family - whether it's brainwashing, strict discipline, or something else, we see how he's so afraid to show even a minute trace of feelings towards a "commoner" that he has to go through hoops just to ensure no one else sees him give Anya a gift.
Tumblr media
What could the Desmond family have instilled in him that gives him such aversion to anyone of a lower social standing? I hope we find out someday. But at the same time, this chapter also gave me the impression that Damian doesn't like having to put on this jerk act in front of everyone. He seemed annoyed and exhausted that he had to do all this just to repay a debt, a debt which no one was demanding of him. Despite all the insults he hurls, the kid has morals and dignity. So it's a shame he feels such a strong need to supress that (he and Twilight have a lot in common in that regard. Twilight is simply better at hiding his real feelings since he's an adult and has been doing it much longer).
However, Damian seems okay with showing only Anya his softer side (when no one else is looking of course). Probably because, unlike all the other Eden kids, she's not from a high-class family with whom the Desmonds have to put on airs with.
Tumblr media
While I'm not nearly as into Damianya as Twiyor, I can appreciate them as a cute future couple when they're older, with the seeds of that future relationship slowly sprouting in the series (though nothing romantic now of course as they are only 1st graders). Endo brought back Damian's "shojo filter" in this chapter, which was at maximum strength! (Is Damian secretly a CLAMP fan? šŸ˜‚)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's only at the end of the chapter, when the debt is repaid and Damian can finally relax, that he's able to see Anya's natural cuteness, without the shojo filter (his expression here looks like one of Twilight's...they really do have a lot in common!)
Tumblr media
What's also interesting is that, compared to some of their early confrontations, Anya never returned Damian's insults until recently, maybe around the end of the bus hijacking arc. In the beginning of the series, she seemed to not know how to act when faced with bullying and was just focused on getting Damian to be friends with her. Now she openly returns his jabs with her own.
Tumblr media
This could be because she's confident that they're friends now, so she doesn't have to hold back and can match his insults without worry. Or maybe she's just learning how to better deal with hostility her own way? Or she's just copying his bad manners...hard to say šŸ˜…
I like how Endo brought back Damian's promise to repay Anya for the handkerchief incident. From what I've gathered reading the manga fanbook, he tries hard not to leave plot points unaddressed. Which brings me to another highlight of this chapter - mention of Melinda again!
Tumblr media
I knew Endo wouldn't forget about her, but I've also been wondering when she would return as a prominent figure in the plot. This chapter raises the question of why she's so intent on Damian and Anya becoming friends...is it simply because Yor would like that, and she wants to be good friends with Yor? Or is there some ulterior motive behind the scenes?
Even though stories focused on the Eden kids aren't typically my favorites, I actually really enjoyed this chapter! It had the great SxF comedy I love of misunderstandings between the characters leading to hilarious moments - Emile and Ewen think Damian wants to duel Anya, Becky thinks Anya wants to spend alone time with him because she's in love, Damian just wants to give Anya the gift to clear his conscience, and Anya just wants to eat the cakes!
(I love how Endo made Anya's mouth slightly watering throughout the chapter whenever she's thinking of the cakes!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hard to tell if this was just a stand-alone chapter or if it will lead to a continuation of the "plan C" thing brought up a while back. I hope it does if it means we get to learn more about Melinda and the Desmond family overall!

Thoughts on Nagi (not) having friends
[with additional thoughts on Barou and Rin also not having friends]
Tumblr media
I saw many posts expressing disappointment in the author's comment that Nagi isn't close with anyone outside of Team V trio.
I get it, considering some of his lighter, most wholesome and hilarious moments in the manga are with Barou and Chigiri, Isagi and also Bachira.
I love that people want Nagi to have friends and a strong support system since he didn't grow up with one. šŸ¤

However, as someone who feels very similar in personality to Nagi, I feel like I can immediately understand why he wouldn't feel "close" to people easily.
People who prefer their own company for the most part and don't get lonely that easily are used to keeping a distance from others. For Nagi, even meeting Reo was something serendipitous and becoming friends with him was definitely not achieved through his own efforts. Reo had to stalk him, kidnap him in a car, chase him around school, carry him on his back and get down on his knees with candy (lmao) in order to win his trust and his time.
Tumblr media
I think that while other more naturally social characters would be able to form connections even in an environment like Blue Lock, characters like Nagi, Rin and Barou, owing to their personalities would find it hard to feel close to most people. Getting close to someone is extra effort on top of enjoying someone's company or liking them as a person. So it would not happen unless the other person continues to insert themselves into their lives by force until their presence becomes part of the new status quo.
I don't think this in any way means they aren't fond of any other people who are nice to them (I support all their condescending hater moments too! šŸ˜¤)
Tumblr media
Okay maybe a huge stretch to say Rin is fond of people šŸ™ˆ but Barou has gradually revealed a softer side albeit begrudgingly and Nagi too actively socialises when he does have the energy (usually when excited during matches or when something or someone piques his curiosity, or when trying to annoy Barou lmao). Nagi also readily expresses strong admiration for other Blue Lockers on many occasions throughout the main manga and his own.
Tumblr media
So I believe there are many people he really likes and has fun with and learns a lot from (as much as you can like people while playing death-game style football that is) but "close" is something that would take time as this is a guy with a very low social battery who isn't really in the habit of sharing his thoughts (not for seventeen years at least). Even with Reo, who we can very safely say he is close to, he has been learning how to do that through trial and error which often leads to ugly misunderstandings. But maybe he will be able to do it more easily and with more people in the future.
And if not, there's always Choki.šŸŒµšŸ¤

Hi hi hi hi hi hi I have followed you for a while and omigosh the amount of Seratonin is so high- I am currently looking for recs about a pining Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne and just bad flirting and fluff and fics that I can LAUGH out loud to because theyā€™re so silly and stupid and are too spooked to confess / misunderstandings - I am in my fluff era and canā€™t find enough, please if you have any recs I would greatly appreciate !!!!!!
Hiiii!!!!!!! Gosh I have just the fics for you, Superbat fluff is SUPERIOR. I hope you enjoy these!
I would also like to apologise for the crazy amount of time it took me to gather these together.
Enjoy some silly funny shenanigans :)
liquid courage by scarletazure (8k) It's Clark's birthday; he gets drunk. and really, who cares that there are other people in the room, or that he was worried about confessing in the first place for a reason? someone should tell bruce how much he's loved.
Taylorā€™s Version by ZIggy (3k) Bruce stumbles upon a song on the radio. It may be Taylor Swift, but it sure doesn't help him with previously undiscovered feelings.
Creation of a Bond by BatShitCrazy (27k)** Everyone knows the Bat of Gotham works alone. Heā€™s standoffish to the League and wonā€™t let metas into his City.Ā  When Superman canā€™t prevent Batman from being seriously injured, he feels responsible.Ā
This one (Creation of a Bond) is a little less silly, and more angsty, but it's a banger so I thought I'd leave it in.
family made from fate by littlearrows (15k)** One time Dick walks in on Bruce and Clark having sex, and five times he walks in on them doing something else
find someone who will stand between your legs by amosanguis (4k)** Clark keeps finding reasons to stand between Bruceā€™s legs, a love story told in ten parts.
The Champagne Effect by JustAJellyfish & nabawrites (6k) Bruce gets drunk then goes out on patrol. The results are simultaneously hilarious and dangerous. When Alfred can't get him back on his own, and since Robin's away on Young Justice business, Alfred calls Superman.
matchmaker, matchmaker (make me a match) by Resacon1990 (24k) The team wants to get Bruce and Clark together and, at this point, Bruce knows he needs all the help he can get.
I only want you by Mawiiish (13k)** Bruce discovers a passion of Clark's that he never expected and now he can't stop thinking about Clark's hands in his hair. Good thing his stylist is on maternity leave. He's a creature of habit, he can't just find another stylist to fill in; he doesn't trust strangers - what's a poor billionaire to do?
To Bring Light Back To Your Eyes by GoldfishForHire (8k)** Months after the Justice League is formed in the wake of Steppenwolf's attempted incursion, Superman begins pulling away, becoming isolated and withdrawn. Bruce wants to help, but doesn't know how. He goes to Martha Kent for advice, and an offhand comment leads to a clumsy, though successful, outreach. Or, Bruce bakes Clark terrible pie to make him feel better, and Clark finds this very endearing.

- Pretense: Silver calls Lilia "old man" in Japanese, which leads to some hilarious misunderstandings.
šŸŒøā™€ļø: I heard you've been sparring with Silver and Sebek a lot more recently. Don't overdo it, ok? Here, some pain relief patches for the old man!
šŸ‰: !! Old... man..!
šŸŒø, laughing at the joke: Yeah, you're already an old man!
And Malleus' lizard brain short circuits and blocks off any room for critical thinking. He breathes heavily, whines with a sob, and takes your hands with the softest eyes you've ever seen on him.
šŸ‰: Thank you. You made me the happiest being in the world. I swear on my life that I will devote myself to protect you and your happiness.
šŸŒø: That...sounds a bit too dramatic for a box of salonpas but... I'm glad you like it!
And then he starts focusing most of his time reading books unrelated to class. The professors try confiscating them, but are too stunned to react and think of the appropriate course of action when they discover he's studying phases of pregnancy and how to properly raise children.
He also starts pampering you out of the blue: personally preparing your meals for you and ensuring that the food you take have the appropriate balance of taste and nutrition, as well as escorting you everywhere. He even carries you up and down stairs. This one embarrasses you so badly that you threaten not to see him in the evenings anymore if he won't stop this insane overprotectiveness.
šŸ‰: Nonsense! If you slip and fall, what happens to our offspring? Would you rather not let it see daylight even once?
šŸŒø: Offspri-- what?! What are you talking about?!
šŸ‰: You told me that I have become a father!
šŸŒø: When?!
šŸ‰: When you gave me that box of... Salon pass!
šŸŒø: Salon-- Oh my god Hornton, I said you were an old man. A literal old man. You're literally hundreds of years old.
šŸ‰: !!
šŸ‰: ... Do you mean... I am not a father?
šŸŒø: No! How did you even think of that?
šŸŒø, not knowing whether to laugh or cry: We've never even slept together once? šŸ˜

I'm floored that people are still liking and reblogging the collage of BL and BL-adjacent works that I reviewed two (!!) years ago. I haven't stopped growing my collection of manga, so I figured I'd make a sort-of Part 2 with a collage of some other fluffy slice-of-life BL and BL-adjacent titles I've enjoyed ever since I ended that project.
While I don't have time to give them full-fledged reviews like before, you can find some of my quick thoughts on each of them under the cut. I recommend all of these titles just as much as the 18 I included in the first collage - if you liked any of those, give these 10 stories a try!
Hirano and Kagiura by Shou Harusono - From the creator of Sasaki and Miyano and set in the same universe, this series revolves around one of Miyano's senpais and the roommate that he's been shipping him with since the start. This is every bit as charming and wholesome as Sasaki and Miyano, though I think this is a lot more chaotic considering the more hilarious take on the main pair's dynamic. I did a more comprehensive review of its first volume here if you wanna check it out.
Candy Color Paradox by Isaku Natsume - I'm not usually a big fan of enemies to lovers - the tropes they work with are rarely my cup of tea. This is one of the few stories I've read where that dynamic works really well, though, with these two reporters clashing a lot early on but finding out that they're exactly what the other needs. I wasn't too sold on the first volume but the second one really brought me onboard - I thought they treated the personal conflicts of one of the main characters incredibly well there.
My Brother's Husband by Gengoroh Tagame - More BL-adjacent than BL, this tells the story of a man reconnecting with the husband of his late brother (and no, there isn't any romance involved at all - this is a family-centric story first and foremost). It doesn't focus entirely on dealing with this loss, though - it's also a look into the protagonist's own family dynamics and troubles, with his daughter being a very prominent character here a la Tane in Our Dining Table. One of my favorites of this batch as it has a lot of heart and soul poured into it.
My Love Mix-Up by Watanu Hinekure and Aruko - The most comedic title here, this takes the misunderstanding trope to a really funny direction and builds a really good story out of it. The main couple is very adorable, and their dynamic with the side couple evolves in such a fun way that I ended up seeing this as a story about the four of them that just so happens to have two couples. If you watched the live action, the manga has a slightly different take on the story, and of course it spends more time on certain plot points, but it has the same chaotic and hilarious vibe.
Hyperventilation by Bboungbbangkkyu - I've only read a few Korean BLs, but this one is easily my favorite of the ones I've read so far. This is a lot steamier than most of the titles in this and in the previous collage, but those scenes are surrounded by a heartfelt dynamic between its two leads who are realizing that the connection they shared back in high school was a lot deeper than they thought. If you've watched the animation of this title, the manhwa's pretty much that but in book form, but I did notice some differences in the manhwa that made the story stronger in my opinion.
I'm Kinda Chubby and I'm Your Hero by Nore - I was slightly wary of this title since body image issues are quite difficult to tackle, but it turned out to not really be the focus of the story - one of the protagonists just happens to be chubby, and while there is some discussion on it, this story focuses a lot more on his growth as an actor and his newfound dynamic with the story's other protagonist. It's a really sweet story at its core, and the pun is definitely intended as the other protagonist is a pastry chef lol. (I'm also not sure if I would consider this as BL or BL-adjacent, coz by the second volume (which is the latest one so far) they aren't really together, but you can definitely sense that their dynamic goes beyond friendship.)
That Blue Sky Feeling by Okura and Coma Hashii - Picked this up mainly because the story is by the same person behind I Think Our Son Is Gay, one of my favorites in the original project. This has a slightly similar vibe, where it focuses more on exploring homosexuality and identity instead of romance, and it does so with the same interesting depth that Okura did in the other work. This one definitely has more BL tropes than I Think Our Son Is Gay though, and I'm more inclined to call it BL than BL-adjacent.
I Want to Be a Wall by Honami Shirono - "Marriage of convenience between a gay man and an asexual woman" is such an incredible pitch that I picked this up immediately, and I really enjoyed it for what it is. Said asexual woman is also a fujoshi, and the man that her husband is crushing on (who is straight) is a prominent supporting character, so you can imagine the hilarity that ensues. This isn't a comedy though - it's very much a heartwarming tale about identity and finding joy in a situation that isn't exactly the best.
Delinquent Daddy and Tender Teacher by Tama Mizuki - Already the second title here that has the same two-male-leads-plus-child dynamic as Our Dining Table - do you see the clear bias hahaha. This is quite far from that story and My Brother's Husband though, and I honestly thought that this was going to be trashier than it was because of the title, but I really shouldn't have judged this book by its cover as it's a great story about family and building connections with each other. It ended up being closer to Would You Like To Be a Family? in that regard, but this takes the time to flesh out the relationship between the two protagonists and the child, creating a silly but heartwarming dynamic.
Hello, Green Days by Ayu Sakumoto - Stumbled upon this short story online, and it has stayed with me ever since even if it doesn't have a physical English release (yet?). The dynamic between the protagonists is really sweet, and how it weaves in the plant talk (one of the main characters is a botany major) into the story is very clever. I also did a more comprehensive review of this before, so check it out here if you want.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I hope you found more titles to add to your to-read list.

Analysis of the Shared Character Traits of Colin & Penelope Bridgerton
I love how Bridgerton explores both the strengths and challenges of Colin and Penelope's character traits. Spoilers throughout.
My personal viewpoint is that all character traits have strengths and challenges. And that good storytelling explores both aspects.
I believe that if you find only the positive aspects of a person's character trait acceptable, you're likely to become frustrated over time. We all make mistakes from time to time. The challenging aspects of character traits will inevitably show up.
A key takeaway from Bridgerton S3 is that a long-term relationship is strongest when both parties appreciate and accept their partners' character traits in their entirety.
In this post I will discuss character traits Colin and Penelope share: spontaneity and romantic natures.
Sidenote: I am a romance girlie with ADHD. I empathise with their struggles and indulgently revel in their triumphs
1. Spontaneity
Strengths:
Adventurous: Both are risk-takers. Colin enjoys his travels. Penelope earns her own money, which is unusual for a noble lady during the Regency period.
Creative: Both have innovative ideas. Colin pilfers Cressida's necklace to prove Lord Featherington's rubies are fake. Penelope writes the Whistledown pamphlet to discredit Cressida in a single carriage ride S3E6.
Quick Decision-Making: Both don't faff around. Colin decides on a wife, house, and baby-making within 24 hours in S3E4-5.
Challenges:
Regret: Impulsive actions can lead to regret. Colin regrets going to see Cressida without making a better plan first with Eloise and Penelope in S3E8. Penelope regrets writing about Marina and Eloise.
Relationship Issues: Impulsive behaviour can strain relationships due to a lack of consideration and time given to others. I believe that if Penelope was aware of Colin's intent to marry her and they had had a longer courtship with more opportunities for safe communication, she would have told him about Whistledown before the engagement.
Difficulty Planning: Impulsive people may struggle with long-term planning and goal-setting. Colin often expresses his struggle to find a purpose, such as when he was feeding the ducks S2E5. Penelope did not plan for the long-term when she started writing Lady Whistledown and finds herself being hunted by the Queen.
2. Romantic Nature
Strengths:
Imagination: Both possess a vivid imagination. Colin's dream about Penelope at the start of S3E3 is epic. Penelope's writing about Cressida being a succubus is hilarious.
Resilience: Despite the Lady Whistledown conflict, both maintain their determination to marry. Colin's talk with Kate is enlightening on this aspect too S3E7.
Challenges:
Unrealistic expectations: Both have idealised visions of love, which leads to misunderstandings. Colin is blind to his love for Penelope because he expected it to feel like a thunderbolt striking him. Penelope thinks Colin has romantic intentions towards her when he says he will always look out for her and is heartbroken when she hears he does not want to court her in S2E8.
Vulnerability: Romantic individuals may be more susceptible to manipulation because of how powerfully they feel love. Colin is manipulated by Marina's exaggerations and love bombing in S1. Penelope is manipulated by Portia to give up her dreams because Portia says that ladies do not have dreams and serve their husband's dreams S3E6.
Difficulty with casual relationships: Romantic individuals may find it challenging to navigate casual or less romantic intimacy. Colin forlornly describes a casual encounter in his journal as ā€œdistantā€. Penelope looks disappointed when Portia tells her that Debling will propose because Penelope desires a love match.
Loneliness: Without love, they experience feelings of loneliness. Colin exclaims at the Lord Squad, "Do you not find it lonely?" regarding their shallow relationships. Penelope looks very lonely when sitting at her bedroom window after the Lady Whistledown article about Colin tutoring her was published S3E4.
Quote of Pen appreciating Colin's spontaneity and romantic nature S1E8:
Colin: ā€œI must apologise. I did not see it at first, but I know you were only trying to prevent me from heartache with Miss Thompsonā€¦But I was a fool.ā€
Penelope: ā€œYou were not a fool. You merely believed yourself in love. One should never apologise for that. If one finds themselves in such an incredible position. One should declare it: assuredly, fervently, loudly.ā€
It is beautiful that they understand and appreciate these aspects of each other šŸ’›šŸ’™šŸ’š

@hofnarrofficial said: gimme everything you got just bury me alive (only if thats possible ofc lmao)
Ok.
Turbo's favourite movie is Herbie: Fully Loaded
He has ALWAYS been flamboyant/effeminate like you see King Candy being. I hate seeing people portray Turbo as this perpetually grumpy/angry bitter person all the time all because of the revelation scene being the one 'real scene' we have of Turbo in his original form. The reason why Ralph wouldn't recognize the similar behaviour pattern is because he didn't know Turbo well enough since he rarely ever left his own game unless it was to go to Tapper's to have a root beer and brag about winning to anyone who'd listen (mainly Felix). Need a 'draw/write Turbo being silly and goofy like King Candy is' solidarity.
Contrary to popular belief, he does like the color pink- he just has a very specific preference for that particular salmon shade of pink.
Turbo and the twins all had racecar beds to sleep in back in TurboTime.
Candybug's desire to take over the entire arcade at the end of the movie is his new cy-bug coding speaking; all Turbo has ever wanted is to race again and be in the spotlight. He would struggle to control his bug instincts not just in terms of resisting beacons of light but also in terms of acting upon intrusive thoughts in general. Mix that with anger and hopelessness that he'll likely never be able to drive again in this new form and you've got the perfect recipe for disaster, because what more does he have to lose?
Do not misunderstand: I too dislike the trope of 'he's just misunderstood' since that is far from the truth, but that doesn't mean he can't have moments where you feel empathy for him (at least in my case): you are programmed to be the protagonist of your world, the best, that is your sole purpose in the life you have. You become addicted to the attention you recieve- foolishly not thinking once that it's possible that may not be the same thing tomorrow. Once that is suddenly taken away, you don't understand why- you're the best. And because you are the best, instead of processing your losses normally, you won't let go. You're instead determined to take back what was rightfully yours. By any means possible. Making the biggest mistake of your life- you kill not just your neighbors but your own home out of impulse. You are to blame for the choice you took- guilt becomes rage, rage becomes bitterness, bitterness becomes calculative; why cry over spilled milk? The damage is done, and your code is desperately crying out to do what you were made to do: race. All you can do is start anew... don't dwell on the past if you want to have the spotlight again, processing your mistake doesn't matter anyway; and so, once a new racing game is in town- you'd be frothing at the mouth to hop in after decades of isolation, wouldn't you? You'd do anything, if you were that desperate and awfully selfish.
This leads us to the following: Turbo had a mental breakdown during his years of isolation, mainly because he was unable to race; this is why he laughs and giggles no matter the mood he's in as King Candy. It's a form of tic.
This might be a bit OOC? But whatever. Hilariously enough King Candy is a somewhat decent(take that with a grain of salt, I'll elaborate in a moment) fatherly figure: he treats the SR racers like they're his adopted kids. I say somewhat decent because of course he completely excludes Vanellope and because he picks favourites; Taffyta, Rancis and Candlehead are his golden children and because of that, he's sometimes willing to swallow his pride and let them cross the finish line before him.
Taffyta is VERY competitive and sometimes will get unreasonably aggressive to win and that's something KC admires in her because it reminds him so much of himself and the bond he used to have with the Twins, especially when competing. Another reason why Taffyta bullies Vanellope is because she knows King Candy dislikes her wish to compete and she feels like this is something that would please him regardless of his approval of it.
Again maybe kind of OOC-ish but I sincerely don't think Turbo outright hates Vanellope herself like. As a person; she has done nothing, but she does pose a threat to blowing his cover and he is not going to allow her. The one thing that bothers him a lot about her is her stubborness to race and always finding a way to weasel into the Random Roster Race. During the tunnel scene where he straight up becomes violent towards her, you can tell she's never seen him this angry to her before; this leads me to believe he never blew up on her before because, regardless of how much of a threat she posed for him; in his mind- he figured she likely would never really be in a situation where she would actually cross the finish line, and she's just a child, so why bother? Of course. That is until she sprints right past him on the race track and the rest is history. (And I have to clarify again I AM NOT justifying his actions; there is no 'justifying' any of it. This is an observation because of the reactions/expressions/etc. seen in the scene.)
Writing that previous hc reminded me of this and I just had to include it because I can SO see this happening šŸ˜ it's hilarious and wholesome in a way.
I saw something about this on @king-crawler 's blog and I feel like I should bring this up bc it rubbed me the wrong way: I donno about you but to me, Turbo programming himself as King of Sugar Rush is not ego thing (not the main reason behind it at least!); it's to avoid suspicion in general within the game because ALL of the SR racers are children. It would be suspicious and really fuckin' weird to have a character programmed as an adult that isn't an NPC/side-character like Sour Bill or the donut cops to just be among them like nothing, regardless if he wipes their memories they (or other candy subjects) will question it. He's not stupid, in the game there's supposed to be a royal figure, no? So, it'd make perfect sense for that figure to be a supposedly 'wise' King that looks after all his subjects and makes sure rules aren't broken. So to me it's less of something done out of selfishness and more of just being able to go by unnoticed, he programmed himself as King to fit in with the whole 'monarchy' concept within SR. At the end of the movie when Vanellope says she doesn't want to be a princess, you get a little glimpse of how much the candy subjects depend and rely on a 'higher figure' to function.
As King Candy, he believes himself to be cute. (adding this side note just in case bc I shit you not this is genuinely something people have argued and mocked me over: don't come at me for this. I have my opinion, you have yours and I'm not going to change it for you; as a fan for a whole decade who has known in tge past other fans, there ARE people that find him cute as I do /gen /lh) He shamelessly indulges in that and he WILL use that as a manipulation tactic to get what he wants- sometimes playing with your emotions as well by tugging at your heart strings and overall painting himself to be a 'frail silly old man' in sn exaggerated manner so you'll give in to whatever he wants- and once you agree suddenly the 'frail' old monarch has an outburst of energy and joy, completely shedding off this fragile-pitiful facade.
Turbo has somehow rescued the Turbo Twins before his game was unplugged and I have evidence to prove this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has their codes tucked into his own (bad example I know but kind of like how an opossum mom keeps her joeys in her pouch); he keeps them in a dormant state this way by not allowing them to have separate code boxes of their own. The reasons behind this are simple: he doesn't want two characters that very obviously don't belong in the game to roam around freely, he has enough trouble with Vanellope as it is; and he knows that if he lets them awaken and respawn, they will criticize him for the path he chose to go down- and he doesn't want to deal with that because, for him, it would be pointless and it'd only bring frustration he doesn't need. He would rather keep them as ghosts of the past hidden in his pocket.
Speaking of Vanellope: Turbo is awfully envious of her driving skills, she's the first racer that has bested him on the track. Another selfish reason why he doesn't want her to race- goodness forbid a child beating you at what you're passionate about and arriving in second place.
When overly emotional- be it positive or negative feelings- King Candy would sometimes temporarily glitch back to his original form as Turbo because his code is old, filled to the brim with stuff, it's bound to have a few crack and tears here and there, like an old but still functioning car with a rusty engine; this issue has only accentuated after the glitching-exchange during the tunnel scene.
Speaking of which- because there were little to no censorships in 70's videogames, Turbo bleeds. It's pixelated blood because it cannot be processed through the programming of Sugar Rush since the game was not made to have any graphic themes in it. If one of the racers gets hurt- they quite literally just bleed coding.
Turbo often smokes.
Turbo sometimes gets sick of eating nothing but candy and will send out Sour Bill to get him something salty to eat from another game. He has his own little stack of junk food and other non-sweets within the castle.
He's not just the King of Candy, he's THE LORD OF THE DANCE! (watch at your own risk I warn you /hj)
CURSED JOKES ASIDE I unironically like to think he is a good dancer. Nobody beats him at tap-dancing and The Bus Stop. (He's from the 70's so it'd make sense he's familiar with a lot of funky/disco dance moves)

MANHWA REC LIST PART 3 courtesy of @ihavenobigbrain
have tried my best to put in all the nice platonic manhwas iā€™ve read! theres still a bunch of romance but fun and games and lightheartedness is the main focus of these for sure šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļøšŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø
first of all i will rec the obvious and popular ones so they dont get missed becuse they are Popular for a Good Reason:
the s classes that i raised (super good, ive read the novel mostly but the manhwa is JUST as great. mc is collecting people like pokemon)
trash of the counts family (amazing art, little dragon child, mc is collecting people like pokemon)
also gonna plug some ones from the previous rec posts just cus i truly believe they are some of the best non romance manhwa: susu, han; i see you; the tale of goldiluck the black kitten
okay onto the actual recs !
WHEN THE THIRD WHEEL STRIKES BACK
HILARIOUS. genuinely so good, pretty underrated too (in that i havent seen anyone talking about this?) but it has a main character who isekais into a second male lead and decides to stay awayy from the leads ā€” this fails miserably, obviously, and its comical. the misunderstandings, the unlucky run-insā€¦ also the mc is a priest and theres a pretty interesting magic system and worldbuilding!! and as a final bonus the art is nice. genuinely so fun to read, highly recommend
Tumblr media
A STEPMOTHERā€™S MARCHEN
favourite manhwa of all time tbh its the only one ive bought a physical copy of (so far, anyway.. hehe). has a romance sub plot but the characterisations, relationships, plot development etc is exquisite. the family relationship takes precedence here especially in the first few arcs, the characters are REALISTIC, the art is gorgeousā€¦, i love it so so much highly rec if you havent read it already. i guess this doesnt fall as much into light-hearted, because there are quite a lot of heavy momentsā€¦ but its nicely balanced out with the comedy n all so iā€™ll put it in anyway :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SCHOOLMATE FRIEND
super cute! this one is a school romance and it doesnt have many chapters out but its simple and the two mains are adorable. its a nice fluffy read and the artstyle is also lovely.
Tumblr media
THE DEMON KING DAD AND HIS HERO DAUGHTER
jdjsjd can you tell how this goes from the title? speaking of which i type it from memory and i cant find the tab i had it open in so it might actually be ā€œhis daughter the heroā€ not ā€œhis hero daughterā€ā€¦ not sure. anyway i havent read much of this one but the first few chapters alone had me screaming the dad and his lackey are idiots please read it for him. he loves his daughter but this is backfiring on him so badly djrnfj
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ idiot lackey, everyone
RETURN OF THE WAR GOD
you would assume the war god goes to war! but no. he picks up a little girl and then heā€™s like. ok mine now. and the rest of the manhwa is spent getting money out of people and living in the woods in his homemade mansion with his daughter and the mamy many sidekicks that they pick up along the way. lovely art, lots of funny moments, plenty of action -- this is a martial arts story -- n the side characters are great (especially the governor lol) .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SCREW THE NOBLE LIFE, Iā€™M GOING HOME
there arent many chapters out for this one (24 i think?) but im so invested already. as it stands this is centred entirely around the isekaiā€™d main character and her new family, there is a heavy dose of angst about identity issues but every chapter has a new misunderstanding and it has me rolling fr ,, oh also the mcā€™s new brothers are her stepsiblings but they shoot down that romance route really fast and their relationships are so entertaining if it keeps going the way it is this will definitely become a favourite. heres an out of context foot pic
Tumblr media
SIGRID
AMAZING TRULY AMAZING the character arcs in this one are so !!! yummy !!! mc time travels n endeavours to correct her actions n save people and in the process makes sm friends and all the characters have depth and grow and theyre all so !!! lovable !!!! the friendships in this one are amazing even without the romance subplot (and also speaking of romance, its a slow burn mainly cus sigrid is as dense as a brick but its NOT frustrating because it actually makes sense for her character!! like im usually the first one to move on from a thick fl but honestly you cant help but cheer them on) its so so good, i love it
Tumblr media
THE MEANING OF YOU
this one is an isekai romance with again some lovely character arcs :D the main character is pretty depressive but its also got plenty of light/funny moments to balance it out, and the plot centres around her learning to take care of herself and becoming more confident,, i love the characters a lot ! they care a lot. the romance does get a bit cheesy at times but it really is so wholesome with solid characterisation n its completed too so you have a nice 3am read.
Tumblr media
HOW TO BE A DARK HEROā€™S DAUGHTER
urgh one of the best kid leads ever, plenty of plot and the art is gorgeous as well like its a winner all around okay. as it stands its on an indefinite hiatus (author had cancer and i assume is still recovering or just taking a break for a while) but season one is already completed and its an excellent family centred read with a few mysteries scattered here n there also did i mention the entire family is so yummy. im so gone for the butler fjddjdnndd

MY BROTHERS, THE PROTAGONISTS
simultaenously super funny and somewhat angsty. this is one of those dungeon manhwa but the caveat is each of the mc's brothers has a different trope going on (time travel, became demon king, isekai'd) while mc is a decent potion maker and has to deal with all their bullshit (affectionate). it handles family issues and balances it with comedy perfectly. the main character is really really likeable and you cant help but cheer her on. so far its almost entirely platonic but i spy a few male leads lol
Tumblr media
MY CUTE BEAST!!!
romance manhwa again !! fjdmcjf the author of this one looked at all the classic miscommunication and misunderstanding tropes and noped the fuck out its so easy to read because you will NOT stress out and the male lead is so cute also. they play with the typical gender roles so fl has the knight aura while the ml is the damsel. its great and the characterisations are also awesome. big big fan. look him
Tumblr media
WEE!!
iirc this is actually either malaysian or indonesian, not korean i think..? its mostly slice of life iirc n its been like.. 2 years since i read it so the humour might be . slightly outdated haha,, the cast is pretty diverse which is cool and there are a few angsty backstory chapters scattered here and there but on the whole it is chock full of shits and giggles if you want silly times. the only caveat is there isnt an official translation afaik so likeā€¦ fan translation will have to do djfnc
Tumblr media
A FREE RIDE EVERYDAY
back to romance ! romance manhua this time, slice pf life office type of thing and its pretty much just fluff. its a cute low stress read for times where u just want to sit down n smile about something and the characters r not thick about everything like they can be in SOME romances fjfnf and also the art is lovely! look at the cover, thats what its like the whole way through.
Tumblr media
PURRFECT WORLD
mad underrated djfhdn itā€™s pretty chill, its a story about a human girl working at a salad restaurant on a planet full of cats. the art is super cute, the cats have jobs and all but they also act like cats and its great dhsks like the owner of the restaurant likes to sit in random cardboard boxes. its been a while since i read it but there is not much romance (if at all??), but plenty of cats and shenanigans. heehee
Tumblr media
read it for him !! its also complete and its not particularly long either btw forgor to say
ONI NO KO
this one ā€¦ i think is a manga actually? in colour?? its about a random oni kid that gets picked up by a high schoolerā€™s family. very very cute art, itā€™s short and sweet and i will repeat very cute.
Tumblr media
look him! hes so small ! he likes baseball!!
BONUS REC which doesnt fit the mood but i think more people should read it: the goldfish osushi. i wont elaborate anymore but its trulyā€¦ your heart will be touched after it lol
also if anyone has more to add to this list (preferably things u think r underrated !! and no orv because everyone automatically recs that to me and im tired ajfndn) please do i would also like recs. also also if anyone has requests i love making lists

Misunderstandings
Summary: Eddie sees Steve Harrington in his sailor uniform and thinks he's a prostitute. A hilarious misunderstanding ensues but it leads to something great.
Warning: a smidgen of smut, mature talk
18+ MINORS DNI
Steve had been brought out here at Skull Rock to make out, but he ended up on his back again as this young woman rode him hard in his sailor uniform. He hoped this time it would lead to something serious. He craved any form of intimacy, the touch of another person, even if it means sex and nothing else. The Scoops Ahoy uniform was a hit and miss with most of the ladies. Some of them, however, only wanted him for one thing.
The next thing he knew, it was over. She climbed off of him, cleaned herself up, and pulled her pants up. Steve quickly did the same as she muttered a quick goodbye and started leaving. He knew when they came in separate cars that it wouldn't be anything else, but he had to try. Right? He called out her name and she stopped.
"Can I call you?" Steve asked hopefully.
"I have a boyfriend," she said.
He stepped back as if he had been slapped, and he glanced down at his uniform.
"You tore my shirt!" Steve exclaimed, blinking back tears.
Suddenly, money was stuffed under his face. She quickly muttered an apology and rushed off, leaving Steve to feel like a dirty whore. It had been right after Steve had sex that Eddie had wondered into the woods, catching sight of Steve Harrington in a sailor's uniform as a woman threw money at him. Was Steve Harrington a prostitute?
A few nights later, Eddie was dealing behind Starcourt mall. He would never, in a million years, set foot in that place. Well, he was just finishing up when he saw Steve leaning against the wall, smoking, and wearing the same uniform. Eddie couldn't help but find him beautiful with the sliver of moonlight casting over his face. Eddie's heart started pounding, and he felt his palms get sweaty. Should he ask? How much does he charge? Maybe he wouldn't ask for much? Why the fuck was Steve Harrington putting himself out there for money? And why was he doing it at the mall?
Eddie's known for a while now that he also liked guys since he decided to watch Grease for this girl he was seeing. His first and only girlfriend, Lydia. Okay, he liked it. He really liked it. Seeing Olivia Newton John in that outfit certainly made his dick twitch, but John Travola also gave him a reaction. His internal crisis was what ended his relationship without her none the wiser about his sexuality. He climbed out of his van, closing it, and started walking towards him. He smoothed his hair and tugged on his jacket, flipping up his collar. Eddie leaned against the wall next to him.
"You come here often, Harrington?"
"Uh. . .," Steve said, looking down at his uniform. "I just got off?"
Eddie cursed inside his head. Of course.
"Oh, I was just curious if you guys charged for first-timers?" Eddie asked.
"We charge everyone," Steve said. "We don't give it away for free. That would be bad for business."
"How much do you guys charge?" Eddie asked.
"It depends on what you want. Look, Munson, why don't you come back when the parlor is open?" Steve asked.
"The parlor?" Eddie asked with wide eyes. "There's a parlor?"
"Yeah, it's inside the mall," Steve said with a scoff.
"Inside the mall? Isn't that - wouldn't that be illegal? I mean, especially with all those kids there?!" Eddie squeaked.
"Why would it be illegal to sell ice cream inside?" He asked, incredulous as he put his cigarette out. "Munson, how high are you?"
"You sell ice cream? I thought you were - shit, I'm so sorry," Eddie said and began backing away, turning around. "I'm a fucking idiot."
"Hey, wait!" Steve called out, and Eddie froze. "Did you think I was a prostitute?"
"Shit! Okay, you can totally hit me! I deserve it!" Eddie said, turning around and closed his eyes.
He winced when he felt a hand clasp his shoulder. The hand was shaking, and then he heard Steve laugh. Eddie opened his eyes. Steve was leaning on him and laughing. He straightened up, still holding onto Eddie's shoulder.
"The outfit really is ridiculous, isn't it? Man, you're not stupid, but it was the funniest misunderstanding I ever had," Steve said. "It really made my day, man. Wait. . .were you. . .were you trying to have sex with me?"
"I gotta go!" Eddie squeaked and turned to to run.
Steve grabbed his hand and tried to pull him back, but he pulled a little too hard. Eddie stumbled right into him, and Steve steadied him by placing his other hand on Eddie's hip. They were now chest to chest.
"It's okay if that's what's you are into. I would be a hypocrite if I wasn't okay with it," Steve said softly.
"You're into guys too?" Eddie asked.
"Guys and girls," Steve replied.
"You're just full of surprises, aren't you, big boy?" Eddie asked, grinning. "I like both too."
"So, you were trying to have sex with me?" Steve asked, smirking. "You should know that lately, the sex I've had has gone from none to meaningless. People aren't really interested in the real Steve Harrington. Although, I think it's because I haven't quite figured out who that is yet."
"Not everyone has it all figured out, Steve," Eddie said, wrapping his arms around Steve's neck. "Especially people our own age. You know, right before school ended, this kid came rushing at you from the middle school. Man, you dropped everything to do the dorkiest handshake I had ever seen. It was also the realest, cutest thing I had ever seen you do. It wasn't until now that I realized that the affection I was starting to feel was actually the beginnings of a very deep crush."
"You have a crush on me?" Steve asked, blushing and hugging his waist. "I used to watch you when you got on top of the table and make those speeches of yours. I liked it when you called us preppy people out. I think maybe I liked you. I like you."
"When it's with you, it's going to mean something," Eddie said softly.
Robin was riding her bike after closing up. Steve Harrington hadn't worked there long enough to close up yet. She still couldn't believe that she was working with him, the supposed ladies' man. According to her data, he was definitely striking out with them. As she rode her bike, she caught sight of Eddie's van. It was rocking wildly.
"Damn, I didn't take Munson for a slut. Whatever girl he has back there must be wild," Robin muttered in disgust and slight jealously that Eddie got to hook up with a girl. "Maybe Harrington can learn a thing or two from Munson."
It was only a few weeks later on the floor of the bathroom after getting tortured by Russians that Robin found out exactly who was in the van. She was sitting there listening to Steve, who she had been totally wrong about, talk about this person whom he had been wrong about, too. Shit, was he talking about her? Robin couldn't take it and started talking about Mrs. Click's class. She told him about Tammy, about her. He went quiet, and she thought for sure that he would take this wrong until he started talking about how she sounded like a muppet then they were both laughing.
"Wait. . . Did you think I was talking about you?" Steve asked after they stopped laughing.
"You weren't?" Robin asked with wide eyes. "Oops."
"Actually, since you were honest with me, it's only fair that I'm honest with you. It's not a girl at all who I've been seeing. It's a guy, and he's . . .amazing. I mean, he's everything I never thought I would wind up with, and I think that's what I . . .what I love about him. Yeah, I love him, even though it's only been a few weeks," Steve said, looking down and smiling.
Robin threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly.
"Thanks for telling me, dingus," Robin said softly.
"Thanks for telling me," Steve said.
"Wait. . .a few weeks ago. . .was that you in Eddie Munson's van making it rock like that?!"
"Yeah, he was fucking me while he was wearing my Scoops Ahoy hat. It really got him going."
"I didn't ask for any more information! Unthank you! Unthank you!"
Robin wasn't going to let her new best friend go home alone, and she knew he was lying about his parents being home. Her parents picked them both up, and while Steve was distracted by Dustin, she told them to take them to Forest Hills. Steve had fallen asleep, his forehead pressed against the window. Robin told them to park by the sign and started to pull Steve out of the car. She told her parents to wait for her while she walked Steve to Eddie's trailer.
"What are we doing here?" Steve asked.
"I didn't want you to be alone, and you needed to be with him. Now. Do you know the way?" Robin asked.
"Yeah. . .shit! I was supposed to have dinner with him and his uncle after work!" Steve exclaimed.
Robin followed him to his trailer. It wasn't that far away, and she could see Eddie's van. Eddie was pacing in front of his trailer, looking frantic, while his uncle was trying to calm him down. Wayne and Eddie had their backs to them when they approached.
"Eddie?" Steve called out.
Eddie whirled around, his eyes red and puffy. He threw himself into Steveā€™s arms immediately, sobbing.
"We just heard about Starcourt, and I was ready to head over there when my fucking van crapped out! Of course! Oh God, your face! What the fuck? Is that an injection sight on your neck? Don't tell me that's a mole, I've explored every one of your moles, I'm almost done naming them all, and that's not a mole! Were you drugged?" Eddie sobbed.
"Well, if I didn't know about you before, I certainly do now," Robin said. "He names your moles?"
"Yeah, I actually didn't know about that," Steve said, looking at him fondly. "I love you."
Eddie sighed and wrapped his arms around Steve.
"I love you too. It's okay if you don't want to tell me, sweetheart. I'm just glad you're okay," Eddie said softly.
"Not that anyone cares, but I'm Robin, and that's my new best friend you've got there. Besides the creepy mole thing, I can tell he's in good hands. My parents are waiting for me." Robin said. "See ya!"
"Bye, bye, Birdie!" Eddie waved as he wrapped an arm around Steveā€™s waist.
"It's Robin!"
"I'm sorry, did you say it is Birdie?"
Robin flipped him off and skipped away. Meanwhile, Steve snuggled his head into Eddie's neck and giggled as they walked into the trailer. Wayne was coming in behind them.
"Hey, Eddie, remember that time you thought I was a prostitute?" Steve asked.
"What was that, son?" Wayne asked. "How on earth did you think he was a prostitute?"
"It was a misunderstanding," Eddie muttered as he took Steve to his bed.

One change the Railgun anime adaptation does compared to the original manga is introduce Kongou much earlier. In the manga, she isn't introduced until after the Sisters arc, but in the anime, she's introduced in the very first episode of Season 1, and becomes a prominent side character up until the Silent Party arc of Railgun S.
I'm fine with what the anime did, because I think Kongou is one of the more underrated characters in Railgun, and she's great in Silent Party and the Daihasei Festival, but I also feel that the anime cutting out her proper introduction takes out a chunk of her backstory and characterization that makes her truly great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To start off, there's this running gag where Misaka, trying to break away from a persisent guy, named Unabara, runs into Kongou, the new girl at school, and tries to pretend she's her friend so that she can get away from Unabara. This leads to a misunderstanding where Kongou beleives Misaka's name is Unabara for most of her introductiry chapters, and Misaka is too socially awkward to even introduce herself. It's absolutely hilarious.
Kongou is presented as this haughty ojou-archetype that's too in her pride, such as when she refused to accept help from Kuroko in escorting her to the dorms. Generally these characters can be one-dimensional, but we see with her that there's more than just the surface.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she was just a little girl, Kongou learned from her father the idea that friends will naturally flock towards one of fine character, which she took the wrong way by allowing her pride and social status to get the better of her. She says to the other girls that they're "allowed" to be friends with her rather than asking directly if they want to be friends, which puts off those girls, who don't accept her indirect birthday invitation.
This reinforces her worldview that because those girls didn't want to hang out with her, they weren't worthy in the first place, rather than focusing on introspection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to current day, and Kongou is the same, even more entrenched in her beliefs, putting herself on a pedestal, that if anyone has a problem with her, it's their fault and not hers. This is why she was immediately drawn to the idea of factions at Tokiwadai, because she desired a clique like the one Shokuhou has.
Tumblr media
However, her facade begins to break, as she comes to term with her lonliness underneath all that bravado. She begins to wonder if she's the problem instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her lonliness showed earlier when, after Misaka and Kongou break away from the pushy guy, they start to hang out, which the latter enjoys, stating that she had never done something like that before. But when Misaka finally breaks away at the end, Kongou remembers that this was only born out of a "pretend" situation. Because of the way she grew up, Kongou finds it difficult to be actually honest about her feelings, that all she wanted was a friend.
Tumblr media
Misaka comes back to return something to Kongou, which confuses the sheltered girl as she wonders why she'd go through all the effort for her (it's not that relevant to the analysis but Kongou still doesn't know that Misaka is the famed Level 5 Railgun in the school). Misaka replies that it's because she's her friend, which touches the girl, to seemingly be finally considered a friend by someone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It all comes back full circle at the end, where after Kongou realizes the errors of her ways, the two random girls she met earlier while faction seeking, Wannai and Awatsuki of the swim team, come to Kongou, ask to join her faction. Kongou turns them down, saying that she would rather be friends with them instead, which they accept.
And I think this is just wonderful, it sets up why Kongou, Wannai, and Awatsuki hang out together in the anime and why Kongou is so helpful towards Misaka in the later arcs. She could have easily taken on a more antagonistic and cliquey role like Shokuhou initially has, but her development is actually a joy to read through. It's such a shame that these few chapters weren't properly adapted into the anime.
Kongou is one of my favorite characters in Railgun, one that I find truly underrated, not just for her backstory, but also for how much of a team player she (and the two swim girls) are in the Silent Party and Daihasei Festival arcs. I want to write about that another time.

HotD S2E3 raw reaction
I hate watch House of the Dragon with the expectation that it will be bad and ridiculous, with Rhaenyra bias, and I don't expect too much. For me, this episode was less dull than the first two and had its comedic moments. Spoilers ahead.
House of the Dragon or House of the TIME SKIPS? Seriously, this is a lazy trick. The Blackwoods vs Brackens started out as a street fight then BOOM, all of them are dead in the battlefield. They could have given us an epic battle and showed us more about this conflict, about two houses who just needed the flimsiest excuse to kill each other. The two new faces were pretty good for their short screen-time too. Bracken Twink has a lethal face card too. Hope they kept them longer but of course this show will kill anything that will make it interesting.
HARRENHAL is my goth dream and Alys finally showed up and sheā€™s beautiful! I donā€™t know why there were people who are against Gayleā€™s casting but with her show look sheā€™s perfect for Alys.
We get a vision scene with young Rhaenyra sewing back Jaehaerysā€™s head, but this show canā€™t give us an interaction between Helaena and Jeahaerys when he was alive. Who are MOTHER AND SON.
I actually like that they showed us more of Baela and Rhaena. Rhaena is probably my team black favorite, frustrated, misunderstood, and her family doesnā€™t value her because she has no dragon yet. Also, have I said FUCK CORLYS yet? This shows that everything is not sunshine and rainbows in Team Black.
Rhaenys is a weird character but I kind of have a soft spot for her. Maybe because I love to see a woman of Eve Bestā€™s age on screen. In this episode, it feels like Rhaenys knows that it wonā€™t end well for her? And she still fought for Rhaenaā€™s claim for Driftmark.
Aegon and Aemond in the brothel. Peak sibling energy from Aegon right there.
Aegon doesnā€™t look that bad actually when heā€™s moving in the armor. In the photos he looks like a bug.
JAEHAERA SIGHTING
GOD Gwayne is so CUNTY. What a spoiled bitch! I actually like how Criston put him in his place and reminded him that thereā€™s WAR
Rhaenyra disguising herself to talk to Alicent personally? I agree on most of the criticisms of this scene but from a dumb lesbian POV this was gold. It was so FUNNY. Rhaenyra is flustered and obviously didnā€™t think this through. ā€œI will be slain but not before I kill you.ā€ It was hilarious.
Damn, why is this always about Viserys? Why do we have this dumb misunderstanding on Alicentā€™s part. Whether what Viserys wanted or not, Aegon has a pretty strong claim too. However, Alicent was right. Thereā€™s really no turning back and its too late for Rhaenyra to stop it.
Good on Rhaenys for reminding her that Aemondā€™s eye was cut out which indirectly lead to this tragic turn of events
I would like to see an interaction with Helaena and Aegon but Helaena baby, itā€™s okay for you to grieve. I feel like Jaehaerysā€™ death is continually being minimized by the writers. Also Helaenaā€™s room is a dream.
Thatā€™s it. I actually spoiled myself on tumblr before I watched and letā€™s see if I still have the attention span for next weekā€™s episodes.

Loved your last fic. It definable tracks with what I felt about Igors character. He's down bad for Ani (she repeatedly insults him and he's all heart eyes Omg she talking to me šŸ„°) but he would've left her alone forever if she wanted. Like in the lead up to the last scene, he's not pushing her to talk to him and even when he gives the ring back , he's clearly not expecting anything from it. He's bringing up her bags and it's only when she doesn't get out of the car the car that he relises somethings up (though he misunderstands what that something is)
Thank you! In a lot of the prompt fills I've been exploring what Ani and Igor's relationship would look like as it progresses, but for this one I really wanted to go back to the beginning to see where it might have started (that is, just as the movie ends).
And, yeah, I based a lot of his inner dialogue on how I saw him proceeding up to the car scene. In the final moments in the mansion, after she comes down with her bags, there's a clear sense of resignation, as if they both realize this is the end of the road and once they part ways, they'll return to their lives just as they were before the movie began. Igor helps her with the bags, throwing her duffel over his shoulder and wheeling the other two out the door (presumably putting them all in the trunk of the card when they get outside). But he doesn't try to talk to her at all, not in the car on the drive to the bank or outside the bank or even when they're parked outside her house ā€” the time for talking is done and now he has to let her go without trying to hold on. I think that's why he waits until the very last minute ā€” she's literally getting out of the car ā€” to give her the ring. If he had tried to give it to her earlier, it might have prompted questions or conversation and for him that would only prolong the pain of having to say goodbye. By giving it to her at the end, he can also make it clear to her that he doesn't expect anything to follow from it (although she misreads that cue, due to her tendency to see things through a transactional lens). He offers one word (ā€œHeyā€) to stop her from getting out of the car, and even though it's clear he wants to say something to her (his lips begin to part, as if to speak), he can't find the words. (Maybe it's the language barrier, maybe it's that he knows words might confuse the situation further.) Instead, he silently opens his palm to offer her the ring. He knows what it means to give this to her, though, the enormity of it ā€” his hand is shaking.
(We don't really know how long he's had the ring; it could have been from any point after they first began their search for Ivan two days earlier, but he's been carrying it around for almost a day at this point. He's waited all this time to give it to her, I think because he's not sure how she'll react and because he doesn't want her to feel any hint of obligation, even though clearly she does, which is what prompts her to climb on top of him and initiate sex.)
She's completely shocked by the sight of the ring (we all probably were, on first viewing), but she takes it, probably expecting some kind of explanation from him. He doesn't want to prolong this ā€” he wants to let her go ā€” so all he says is, ā€œDon't tell Torosā€ (which is kind of hilarious, because does he really expect her to go and rat him out to the man who would undoubtedly demand the ring back?) and immediately gets out of the car. He doesn't wait for her, but takes her bags out of the trunk and hauls them up the porch steps. Now that he's delivered the ring back to her, his final act, he knows it's over, and he thinks she must too, as he seems to be expecting her to get out the car and come up the porch steps and go inside. And yet she doesn't, which just confuses the heck out of him. What does she still want? (Heā€™s about to find out, and itā€™s something he never would have anticipated.)
As opposed to the living room scene from the previous night where he's trying to engage with her and get her talking, all of these moments indicate a guy who has recognized that his opportunity for connecting with her is over and decided that he's not going to push any further. It's a fundamentally respectful (and realistic) attitude and I think it would continue even after the movie ends, as Igor feels conflicted about wanting to see her again but not wanting to be intrusive or overbearing. So he tells himself that he can go try to find her at her job, but if she shuts him down, he won't ever bother her again; he'll let go (as he planned to originally, that last morning) and then do his best to forget about her.
But if she doesnā€™t shut that door entirely, it would give him hope that he could keep going just to see what happens next.
