You whine, curling in on yourself like you can squash your insides into numbness. “I feel so gross,” you whine. 

“You are pretty gross,” Steve replies, knuckles running up and down your arm. 

You look up at him from where your head rests on his lap, appalled. “You’re not supposed to agree with me!” 

“What?” Your boyfriend gives you a disbelieving look. “I didn’t say you were hideous, but you are definitely grosser than usual. Like, if we’re taking you on your best day, this is at least thirty percent more gross than that. I can’t agree with that?” 

“No!”

“In that case, I think you’re delirious with fever, babe. I never said anything about you being gross.” 

Despite yourself, a reluctant little chuckle puffs out of you. Steve grins. 

“Even if you were gross,” he drags his palm down the length of your back, letting it curve over your hip to your thigh before starting back in the other direction, “you’d still be way hotter than anyone else I’ve ever seen. It’s only fair that you get gross every now and then. You know, to make everyone else feel better.” 

“I don’t think everyone else is that worried about it,” you say. 

“That’s where I think you’re wrong. Think about it: we eat at the same place we go to all the time, and only you get food poisoning? That’s not chance, that is a planned attack.” 

You look up at him amusedly. “You think this was an assassination attempt?” 

“I mean, without the killing part, probably, but yeah.” 

You hum, settling back in on his lap. “You’re starting to sound like your nerd friends.” 

Steve’s mouth drops open playfully. “I am not! And anyway, if you tune out Wheeler’s brother, sometimes they’re making some good points.” 

You start to smile just before another cramp seizes your middle, rolling through you with a wave of nausea. Steve’s grip on you tightens as your eyes screw shut. 

“Shit.” He sounds part sympathetic and part like he might be in pain himself, one hand worming underneath your arms to rub at your stomach. “I’m sorry, baby. I know it sucks. All we can do is ride it out, and it should be gone by morning.” 

You make a small, distressed sound. “We don’t even know if it’s food poisoning.” 

“Nah, it is.” 

Steve’s massaging helps, and gradually the pain lessens. You take deep breaths until you can think clearly again. 

“How are you so sure?” you ask him. 

He shrugs. “It’s just the only thing that makes sense. You’re just getting whatever it was out of your system. You’ll be good as new soon, just you wait.” 

You shoot him a dubious look. “What, you think you’re a doctor now?” 

“No, but I kinda look like I could play one on TV, right?” At your bewildered silence, Steve goes on, his hand still moving gently over your stomach. “I’m just saying, have you ever seen those soap operas in the hospitals? If they came out to Hawkins to do their casting calls, I’d be snatched up in a hot second, babe.” 

You study him. Steve is undeniably handsome, this isn’t new information. He has a firm brow paired with sweetheart eyes and mussable hair, plus a classical sort of bone structure that’s humanized by the odd blemish or mole. Nice skin and a nicer smile. Good hands, too, one of which is currently caressing your hurting stomach while the other plays with the ends of your hair. 

“Nope,” you say, completely lovestruck. “I don’t see it.”

“That’s okay.” Steve gives the pudge of your stomach a gentle squeeze. “It’s just the fever getting to you again.”

lee sits on her towel and doesn’t move, she won’t even uncross her legs. she’s just sat awkwardly leaning over the towel so she can make you a sandcastle <3 she’s using various children’s tools she’d ordered from amazon to build, picking up the shells around her to turn them into decoration.

she’s so proud of herself when you come back from the water for a drink 😭 “honey! look what i made you” and she’s all shyyyy

also lee is 100% the kind of person to write your initials in a heart in the sand, and not small too she wants it to be seen by everyone, just so they all get the message (aka “stop staring at my wife’s ass you pervs”).

ice creams on the beach!!! lee is so mad at the wasps swarming her LMAOOO you’re actually petrified so you’ve moved, poor lee is trying to be brave and impress you but if they get too close she drops her act to scream like a child.

after hours of trying to convince her to get into the water, she finally agrees! you lead her to the water (despite her purposefully moving slower than a sloth) and let go of her hand to make your way in, assuming she’d follow.

“come on baby you can do it! it’s just water!” you attempt to encourage her, and surprisingly it works. lee veryyy slowly starts inching her way towards the water, a wave crashing into her ankle just as she does so. she makes various weird noises, you know when you eat something that feels like it’s just come straight out of a volcano? it sounds something like that.

but hey she’s doing it! she’s walking towards you with a big smile on her face, your expression mirroring her own. that is until lee feels something slimy wrapping around her leg, imagine the scream she lets out when she glances down to discover there’s a green alien trying to worm its way inside of her (there’s seaweed on her leg).

my girl runs for the hills. screaming like she’s being tortured before dropping onto the sand and swatting her attacker away (which is again, seaweed).

you make your way over to her in an instant, removing the seaweed from her leg as you stifle a laugh. the woman, your wife, now caked head to toe in sand… even the poor girls eyelashes have sand in them.

“can we go home please?” poor baby :(

once you’ve returned to the comfort of your own home, lee gets the most cuddles she’s ever gotten from you in her life. despite her silliness (not silliness, she was very viciously attacked by aliens) you’re still so incredibly proud of her for facing her fears and going on a fun little adventure with you.

Vash the Stampede

Given that Vash is... Vash, there was no way either of you knew if you could even get pregnant in the first place.

Seriously - no known plant/human hybrids existed, so the two of you never really thought much of it. You both just kind of assumed hybrids couldn't exist because plants couldn't reproduce with humans

Well, how WRONG you both were

But of course, because neither of you knew it could happen, neither of you caught on when you eventually started feeling nauseous, throwing up at random points in the day and feeling gently under the weather

110% you and Vash both were like "aww dang a cold? That sucks" and Vash would cuddle you lots to try and make you feel better cause he just thought you were sick

You also didn't let this sudden "sickness" slow you down - you kept working hard, on the run with Vash and the others, moving constantly, sleeping under the glow of the worms in the warm sand, hauling your weight and then some as the group continued to travel across No Man's Land

However, what you hadn't anticipated was suddenly not being able to do as much as you used to be able to - suddenly the sun beating down on you was too much, the heat overwhelming, and before you knew it, you had collapsed

Vash and the others were definitely concerned, but the concern turned to confusion and disbelief when they accidentally got a look at your stomach when your shirt had ridden up as you sat up once you regained consciousness - your stomach was SWOLLEN.

Everybody was a bit freaked out, you very much included, until you started to put the pieces together - your "illness", your sudden inability to tolerate things as you had before, your stomach swelling

"Vash... I-I think I might be... pregnant?"

Honestly, I think Vash would be stunned at first but once he realizes that what you're saying makes sense (and after the confirmation of a doctor from one of the nearby towns you guys travelled through), he'd be DELIGHTED

Would be the type of husband/partner who would never let you carry anything heavy anymore, hovering over you protectively, always worrying and making sure you were comfortable and not endangering yourself or your baby

"You need to rest, (Y/N)! You're growing a whole new being, you and I have gotta make sure you're taking good care of yourself now!"

Would give you ankle/foot massages A LOT to help with discomfort

Vash would definitely spend a lot of time talking to your tummy as it grows bigger, pressing soft kisses to your stomach and caressing it gently

Vash would be excited but TERRIFIED simultaneously to be a dad - so much sadness, death and regret followed him everywhere he went, and he was terrified to bring you into it, let alone an innocent child

You would have to comfort him and reiterate that you were in it together and that you think he'd be a wonderful dad

Also, because Vash is a plant and they age rapidly compared to humans, the pregnancy would be faster than a traditional human pregnancy

Vash has seen births before, especially given how long he's been around, so that part of it all doesn't make him nervous. The fact that now, it's HIS child, THAT makes him nervous

Would absolutely cry during the birth of your twins, partially out of fear, partially out of joy, and also partially because you'd gripped his hand so hard that you'd likely broken several of his fingers (oops)

Borderline passed out when they told him there were TWO babies - he wasn't expecting that at all

IDK why but I can see him being a dad to either twin boys (like him and Nai), or 1 girl, 1 boy.

It doesn't matter though, cause Vash would love your babies from the moment they let out their first cry, the reality hitting him - he's a father now.

Would give anything to protect you and his children - you're his world. His family. <3

Nicholas D. Wolfwood

Unlike Vash, you and Wolfwood absolutely knew that pregnancy could happen

You and him both were sorta neutral about it - not actively trying to prevent a pregnancy, but not actively trying to conceive either.

"If it happens, it happens," Wolfwood said with a shrug when you brought it up to him

And so, you two just went about your lives together as always.

Of course, neither of you really bothered to keep tabs on your pregnancy status because you were busy travelling (and being on the run) with Vash and the others

Everything was as it usually was, with the group trying to escape from another disastrous clash with a police force of some kind, bullets flying past you all

You were hiding behind a corner, covering Wolfwood as he managed to fend off the cops coming after Vash and the rest of you, when a stray bullet struck you in the side, causing you to cry out and fall back

"(Y/N)!" You heard Wolfwood scream out your name, but you couldn't seem to see where he was anymore

Before you knew what was happening, the world went black

When you woke, your eyes opening to bright light, you quickly gasped and sat up only to cry out from the sharp pain in your side

Wolfwood was by your side, a deep scowl on his face, but you could see in his eyes that he was scared

"Mornin', sweetheart, nice of you to rejoin us in the land of the living."

Once you were more fully awake, the doctor came in to speak with you and Wolfwood, cheerfully reporting that "Thankfully, the bullet missed anything important, and the baby is just fine, too."

Umm, what?

Both you and Wolfwood choked slightly on your own spit as the doctor said that, with you coughing out "What baby?"

Yup, turns out you were pregnant and had been for a little while already at that point

From that point forward, Wolfwood becomes EXTREMELY protective of you, refusing to let you walk in front of him or even stand in front of him (he plans to use his body to protect yours if something bad happens)

He'd do his best to smoke less and not do it around you because it isn't good for the baby (he's trying hard but he still forgets sometimes)

Wolfwood would be the kind of guy who outwardly seems very relaxed and unphased by the situation but secretly has tried to read through every parenting book he could get his hands on

And when it's time for you to give birth? Listen, Wolfwood has seen a lot of things in his life, but he was NOT expecting birth to be that gruesome

Would become very pale, sweating profusely before dropping like a stone, out cold

Comes back to life when your baby begins to cry, announcing their arrival into the world

You would witness a rigid man bend and soften in front of you - you'd see Wolfwood's gaze soften and a genuine smile appear on his face as he holds your and his baby in his arms, a tiny hand wrapping around one of his fingers

Love at first sight for Wolfwood - he never thought a family would be something he wanted, but now that he has one? He's never letting go of it

Until the doctor announces that the second baby was coming

Thankfully the nurse had enough sense to take your baby from Wolfwood's arms shortly before the doctor announced that because he ended up back on the floor, out cold again

Kind of a wuss around childbirth but he loves his babies (and you) more than anything else in his life

I can definitely see him as a dad to twin girls (idk why he gives me girl dad energy)

joshua doesn’t get embarrassed easily. that’s what he tells everyone and that’s what seems to be true. that iconic mistake on stage in pretty u? it’s in the past. sucking at kickball? he can’t be good at everything! they want him to do the worm again in front of everyone? ok, well if they insist!

you’re convinced you’re dating the most self-assured, well-adjusted man in the world— at least, until you hear all of his friends laughing in your living room one night. you only notice something’s off because of the absence of your favorite laugh, his laugh, mixed in with everyone else’s. were they laughing at him? you venture out of the office to check.

it’s the first thing you see when you walk into the room: the harness for your strap, lying on the coffee table

you don’t know how they found it— it’s not like you just keep it out in the open… it had been tucked away in one of the drawers of the tv stand last you checked. maybe the living room wasn’t the best place to put it but you kept it there for… reasons.

joshua’s back is turned to you but you can see that the tips of his ears are bright red. you imagine his face is too.

“what’s going on?” you ask, immediately drawing everyone’s attention to you.

the boys look like they’ve seen a ghost. everyone’s smile drops except for yours and joshua sinks even further into his seat.

“i don’t get what’s so funny. do you guys not have sex with your girlfriends?”

mingyu chokes on seemingly nothing, sputtering defensively, “w-we do we just don’t—”

joshua tenses even more as you step through the legs and pull the harness up around your waist. “baby, what are you doing?”

again, you ignore him.

“you’re telling me that if you came home to your girlfriend wearing this, you wouldn’t get hard?”

“i don’t know how you want us to answer that,” mingyu admits, rubbing his hands on his jeans.

joshua clears his throat and yanks you by the harness to stand behind where he’s sitting on the couch so that his friends’ view of you in it is at least mostly obstructed.

“i think an apology to my boyfriend would suffice,” you suggest.

there’s a chorus of sheepish apologies before a long silence, everyone too scared to step out of line again.

“uh, should we go?” seokmin asks finally, trading looks with the others.

“that would probably be best,” joshua says. he’s surprisingly composed considering what’s just happened and how obviously turned on he is by it. his hands don’t leave his lap as he adds, “see you monday?”

“if your hole isn’t destroyed by then,” soonyoung jokes, easily dodging the pillow joshua throws at him as he winks and ducks out the door after the others.

i know a lot of you guys have been wondering wtf is up with my upload schedule lately and the extreme lack of even basic content and also i am extremely aware that i have not updated my fics in a few millennia and for that i am very, very sorry. this post is to answer a few questions you might have, if anyone was curious about the 'reason' instead of just the 'when.'

my family and i have had a hell of a year, y'all. like, jesus christ, i really hope things level out and calm down for a while once we're moved in to our new apartment bc god damn we are so tired. the list goes: 1. we got kicked out of the house we were renting-to-own bc we wouldn't be able to afford the new rate, so they gave us two months to find a new place to live (not long enough, it turns out) and then foreclosed to get us out. 75% of our belongings were still in the house when we had to leave. that includes all of our christmas ornaments- including the ones kept for decades, and the ones made by me and my siblings, and the fancy ones made from blown glass. 2. the first night out of the house, one of our dogs, freaked out by the strangeness of the situation, panicked and slipped her harness and ran off. that was over a year ago. we haven't seen her since. 3. my cat got very ill and became unable to eat. she passed away almost exactly a year ago. she had been 14-15, and had been my baby since i was maybe 8. 4. one of the tires on my dads car blew out. during the night, while it was parked on the curb so he could put the spare on in the morning, one of the in-tact tires was fucking stolen LMAO 5. we applied to rent at so many places and got rejected so, so many times. it costs money to apply, btw. we're talking like $200+. no, u don't get that money back. 6. i lost my job bc knowing i would have to work 8 hours at a job that stresses me out to the point of exhaustion (at a place where no one takes me seriously and would actively laugh at me when i try to express my need to step away for a minute) sometimes paralyzed me and made me sick to my stomach and made me feel unable to leave the house, and i called out one too many times. a day after my birthday, too! 7. just recently, like within the last week, my dad's car got fuckin totalled!!!!!

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE OFFICIALLY, FINALLY, AFTER A SOLID YEAR, HAVE AN APARTMENT!!!!! I'LL HAVE MY OWN ROOM AGAIN!!! THERE'S AN ENTIRE KITCHEN!!!!!!!

the 'oh god' news is we still have to move in, and replace a lot of the stuff that we just couldn't take with us when we moved out (mostly stuff like bookshelves, dining table, dressers, etc) AND get the few things we could cram into a storage center out and moved into the new place, which isn't a lot but at the same time is more than we can realistically handle on our own. and then, we have to get my mums cats (a pair of kitty sisters that we had to temporarily house with my aunt, who got tired of looking after them and let them outside to be outdoor cats a few months ago. yes, this was an extremely shitty thing to do, and we've been working hard to get them back safely) AND my gecko (who my cousin has been looking after, even tho feeding him worms freaks him out LMAO yes i plan on compensating him) moved in, as well... basically oh my god there is so much to worry about but at the same time it's nice to have to worry about it bc it means we're making progress sdkfhsjdkfhdsjfh

the way I feel like in a poly relationship they both absolutely love spoiling and caring for u, but in different ways. Hear me out:

Suguru shows his love by pretty much just taking on the responsibility of a caregiver, because he just falls into that role so easily. He’s the type to cook the foods he KNOWS you love the most for you, to wash your hair for you while you bathe in the luxury bathroom that’s dimly lit with your favourite scented candles and the tub that’s filled with bubbles and any extras you ask for, to brush and play with your hair while you do your night time skincare routine, to offer you a massage at the slightest sign of stress (his hands would be perfect for giving a massage I will fight anyone who disagrees) to always bring back your fav snacks and drinks if he sees them when he’s in public, to take on your own household chores if he notices you’re having a rough and/or unproductive day… <333 he’s so wife….

And then of course best boy satoru who loves like he might actually have a heart attack if he has to go one second without showing his utmost adoration for you (he’s a drama queen). but I love the fact we’ve all agreed he’s like a puppy- because in my head HE IS !! he acts like a lovesick puppy, on your tail 24/7. He’s the type of boyfriend (or husband ykwim….) who when you’re hanging out together and you get up to go to the bathroom, would follow you out of instinct because he’s just so used to being a clingy little bastard. and don’t even get me STARTED on the spoiling- I know you’ve mentioned it in a previous fic and I can’t help but agree so hard. but it’s not like he just gives you money and leaves you to your own devices, i get the feeling he’d want to be involved if you decide to go on a shopping spree. Everyone else is the same mostly, don't really change the roles besides the fact that instead of CC (Greg in og) getting possessed by my mimic/glitch trap, it's mike (for GGYthing. Name would be MCL.) And William is still evil. He just follows a similar role to Vanny in sb but isn't a reluctant follower. He welcomes vanni as a parasite. He also is still partners with henry (business) but now they just own fredbears megaplex. Henry is basically the same. Charlie and Mike are close in age and Sammy is here too. And Jeremey. Bc gays. everyones a bit older here so like 16-17. They all work (illegitimately) at the plex as security guards on weekends and afterschool. Cheaper to pay and it keeps them out of trouble (looking at mike specifically). Vanessa is a corpse bc uhh… michael counterpart. She still works at the company as a repairman, but is not seen till later. all 5 missing kids (susie, gabriel, ect) are here as well, and they do indeed end up missing (more on that later)

Now animatronics. 

Goes up to the toys bc i like them best. So the mini music men are the main toys, with mangle as the actual music man. There's only 3 mini’s obviously lmao. Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica. But they are very fast and perform with mangle in the arcade. Puppet is a map bot but also sun and moon?. she floats from the celling like moon does with his cord but thats where the similarities end. She gives guests glowing green wristbands that serve as the fazwatch in this universe. its for parents to keep track of their kid, using an app?? But here it is used to track kids to isolate them from each other, and make them go “missing”. Like circus baby if ykwim. Speaking of which, circus baby. I like her. So she's here as well. Remember peepaw afton. Yeah well that's circus baby now. Used to get vanni (parasite little bitch) what she needs to survive, a body of her own. 

And uh funny story. Elizabeth finds out that her dad is possessed by a parasite from the 80’s and her brother is controlled by something similar, so William takes action ig. But wait. I'm not letting her go just yet. Afterall, Evan and Cassidy need a buddy to travel with as well, right? Their 2 extra friends aren't quite enough… So more on that later for spoiler reasons. also no mimic bc i dont even want to delve into that can of worms... closest u get is circus baby. be happy its JUST circus baby lmao

Ok main animatronics. Roxy, Glam Freddy, Spring Bonnie, and Golden Freddy. All the glamrocks are present in the 1980's original diner, but Ness got a bit angry and uhhh... oops Vanni made her kill people haha. so they are. gone. for now. Roxy and Freddy are completely robotic and have no sentience. Not in the traditional sense anyway. But… Spring Bonnie and Golden Freddy are. Got all that fun AI jazz. They don't match up with any of the glamrocks in particular? Just kind of their own character. So obviously spring bonnie gets the glitch thing from MCL William and is trying to kill Cassidy and Evan. Same with mangle and the toys. But GoldF is like glamrock freddy, AS A ROLE. completely diff personality. So he helps the kids. And that's when stuff really goes down.

okay lets start with the emily’s becuase. because i can. Henry and William are partners in owning the plex and henry is known as the more approachable head of the company. he tends to walk around the plex and interact with all the kids and stuff. when shit heats up, he plays the role of trying to calm will down and figure out what’s controlling him in the first place. he tries to recode the animatronics (minus golden freddy) but it doesn’t… really work. fun stuff happens with him later >:)

now charlie. so charlie works as a security guard with mike, jeremy, and sammy on weekends to make a bit of extra cash. when mike and will get controlled (willingly or not) but Vanni, she takes the role of Cassie (sorta) and does her best to free mike. she’s the one who finds the foxy mask that lets her see wet floor bots. by deactivating the bots, she slowly weakens Vanni’s power over the other animatronics. she investigates what’s happening in the plex and protects the kids.

sammy plays a super crucial role to this au. he acts as tony in this au, and we all know what happens to tony in ggy… so uh not gonna say much about that til later but he is the MAIN investigator with charlie and has a fun encounter with mike eventually.

not an afton or a emily but jeremy is just tape girl in this. he records messages while he is hiding from william and mike because Vanni has deemed him a good host, even better than william or micheal. So he’s just hiding around and recording messages before he gets captured as a way to keep Vanni out of his head.

elizabeth is kind of still in the works story wise. she cant find her dad when he gets ‘captured’ by Vanni and then goes looking for him, and ends up in a room that she really shouldn’t be in. the scooping room. baby is there and takes the now organless elizabeth and stuffs her inside to be harvested for remnant. so… bye bye elizabeth. (ask from @hearts4ggy)

mike is definitely uncomfy with having his body be controlled by a weird ass rabbit parasite dickhead thing, but william is very good at manipulating him so he just stays quiet. not 100% sure yet how he gets all caught up in the vanni stuff but my working idea is that vanni needs somebody else besides william to do its dirty work so they choose micheal bc he’s perfect for the job. checks off all the boxes. hates his brother (meh) related to william, and very easily manipulated. william used circus baby to insert part of vanni into him (with like a microchip or smth) and that’s that. micheal initially isn’t reluctant becuase his dad finally wants him for something (ouch) and he’ll do anything to make him proud, but after the Sammy Incident (tm) hes very reluctant. hes pretty aware and vanni lets him take control of his own body when interacting with the kiddos.

mmm i think evan would notice mike was off but would stay quiet because hes got his hands full with cassie and gregory. Elizabeth is a similar situation to micheal where her dad calls her into the scooping room and she follows because again, william finally wants her “help” with something. she’s used for information about what’s going on with evan and cassidy but when she says she doesn’t know vanni gets pissed and kills her so that she can be used for remnant to keep vanni active in both micheal and william. if anyone was to notice something weird about micheal, it sammy, then charlie. and ofc jeremy knows becuase that’s who micheal is mainly after until vanni can locate the kids.

henry has a lot of shit going on in this au but honestly, he just hides. he finds sammy and sees micheal kill him but does nothing to really help at first. he watches micheal drag sammy away and then the kids and charlie find him. he can’t bear to tell charlie what he saw so he just runs away into one of the remote security offices, which is the same one vanessa was in. vanessa tells him everything since she’s been watching the whole time from cameras but she herself isn’t strong enough to fight back, so henry takes that role from her. using the bracelet sammy was wearing (it has his name engraved on it but its a special puppet bracelet) she tracks him and tells him where to go to get the anamtronics (who are attacking the kids) under control. (ask from @hearts4ggy )

This is kinda foreshadowing for the scooping incident i mentioned previously. but until that happens i would imagine vanessa being unable to deal with the lack of closure between her and gregory. he would show up in her dreams often, usally berating her over the bite. his death was caused by only her, no interference from vanny. and while cassie was killed out of desperation (more on that later) gregory was killed completely out of overreaction. vanessa had no idea that shoving him inside the mouth of the glamrock freddy animatronic would kill him, and yet her actions caused the death of someone she cared about. maybe the only person she ever truly cared about.

“That wouldn’t be necessary, your highness.” He politely, but formally, replied to her while looking at her. “While I may not know the identity of that student is yet, I do believe you need to stay out of the matter until they recover.”

“What if they are in bad condition? Perhaps I can use a spell or a potion to help them recover from it..” She smiled hopefully as her eyes sparkled in joy.

“Fawn, please… Just for this once.” His gaze softened. “I just want you to stay out of other people’s business. You don’t have to help others and waste your magic like this. You may overblot one day from this, you know?”

“I know you’re concerned about me as always, Aubbie. But trust me, I’ll be alright. Just allow me to lend them a hand.”

The young man sighed in defeat.

“If you say so, who am I to defy that order?”

In response, she kissed his cheek and beamed in joy.

“Thanks a lot, I’ll be careful not to overuse my powers.”

As they departed to their respective classes later on, the two Ignihyde students’ conversation caught her attention.

“I wonder where Dorm Head Idia is...”

“Probably in his room again.”

She turned her head towards them to hear it more clearly.

“He sits there all day, every day… I wonder if he’s alright.”

“Eh, who cares?”

“I do!”

Then she realized something and took out her phone to check her messages.

(01:32 a.m) Me: i’ll get you those gummy worms u like omw to igni after classes<3

‘Strange, he would usually reply to me even when he’s tired...’ She thought to herself and scrolled more to see his latest message, which was two weeks ago.

Blueberry Baby 🥰: can we stop here for now?

Me: okay :(

Me: have a good rest, sleep well <3

Blueberry Baby 🥰: thx babe u too ❤️

She then remembered that his last login in the game they played together was also two weeks ago, and it instantly clicked in her head. The student who overblotted was Idia, probably feeling weak ever since it happened. Knowing how that feels, she brought a hand over her mouth in shock to conceal her quiet sobs, being angry at herself for not realizing it before. But now, she knew what to do. The feeling of wanting to help her long time friend and now boyfriend as much as she can was even more intense now. But not right now. For now, she had to attend her classes.

Her low heels clacked in the distance as she walked to his room with Ortho. As the younger Shroud gestured to the door of his room and opened it for her, she couldn’t help but peek at his room and she instantly spotted the older Shroud’s sleeping form under the dim lights.

“Idy…”

She gently stroked the warm, silky, fiery hair he had as they waved on her fingers. She let out a quiet chuckle before tidying up the trash with magic and took them out, and then she sat next to him and watched him sleep for a few moments.

“Probably something you haven’t been doing for a long time, hmm?”

Her hand made its way to his cheek as she cupped it with her hand.

“Sleeping, resting, just letting your mind wander into the realm of dreams...”

She looked away and sighed.

“An overblot obviously takes so much mental and physical toll on one’s body, so you obviously do the same. D-don’t ask how I know this..!”

As she nervously fidgeted her fingers, she turned to face him again and put her thumb on his lips to caress them. Those lips that he bit whenever he felt anxious, those lips that curled into a shit-eating grin, those lips that had placed such soft kisses on her cheeks... She quietly contemplated what she should say next as if the guy in front of her was fully awake.

“Board Game Club has been quite lonely without you, my love... With Azul chatting my ear off whether you have made a full recovery because ‘I know you the best’, and with Ortho not being in our club anymore, and without you... it feels pretty lonely... But at least you’re recovering..! At least you’ll be alright soon!"

Having noticed that she raised her voice, she sighed.

“I miss being with you.. in-game, or in real life... Raids feel lonely without the legendary Gloomurai, you know? A-also.. I quite miss your hugs too... Heck, I would give the world just to see you smile once again…”

She slowly leaned in and kissed his temple while touching his cheek again.

“...Mmm... Ortho... noooo.... Don’t goooo... Nnngh…”

“O-oh dear…”

In an instant, she quietly went beneath his sheets and she held his trembling body in her arms. Her lips met the corner of his eyes this time, and she kissed his tears away.

“Mmh...”

She noticed his bottom lip quivering, a sign that he’s about to cry. Soon he started to let out quiet sobs while hugging her torso, thinking it’s the ever so familiar pillow under his head. He cried and cried until he felt calmer and he rubbed his cheek onto what he felt like it was a pillow. But quickly realized that it wasn’t it. First he heard a little squeak, then a faster heartbeat, neither of which being a thing that his pillow had. That was when he decided to look up and have the realization hit him, that he was actually laying his head on Fawn’s chest. She had tried to hold still for him so hard, but her voice ultimately betrayed her. The tips of his hair started to turn bright pink and he let out a small sob while looking at her with wet eyes. She gently cradled his face in her hands and planted a gentle kiss on his face.

“I’m here, blueberry... Forever and always...” She quietly whispered in his ear and put his head back on her chest.

“Fawn...”

“I’ll always be there for you whenever you need me...”

He awkwardly held her too and laid back, slowly drifting back to sleep.

“Thank.. you...”

His hair became brighter and pinker in response, and he slowly closed his eyes again.

“Good night, sweetheart... Sweet dreams...”

And she watched his sleeping face until she eventually fell asleep as well.

The sight that greeted the younger Shroud was nothing short of a sweet moment shared between the two. So he went ahead, took a picture with his eye camera at a closer angle and saved it in his memory card to send to his parents later. He giggled before quietly waking up Fawn to get her to her classes.

“Pssst, Big Sister..! It’s time to wake up!”

“...I know, I know… I’m up already…” She groggily said before gently placing a kiss on the top of her boyfriend’s head and putting his head on his pillow. Then she slowly entangled his arms that were around his waist and had him let her go. After that, she practically slid away and stood up.

“Thanks for waking me up, Ortho..” She said, patted his head and went back to her dorm in quiet steps.

“You’re welcome, Big Sister. But.. will you visit my brother tomorrow too?”

She nodded.

“I will visit him every day to make sure he’s doing well.”

“Waaahh, that’s so great!!” He beamed, “I’m sure he’ll recover in no time when you stay by his side like this!”

She let out a half hearted laugh.

“I hope he does.” She replied, “I believe in him. He’s stronger than he looks.”

“Right?! My brother is the best brother in the world!”

“...Yes. Yes, he is.”

The idea that she would tell him—him of all people—if she were upset is positively laughable. But it doesn’t matter, because she's not upset. 

But if she were—if there anything at all were to be bothering her—she has plenty of people she could go to. Lanie, for example. She could hypothetically go to Lanie in any situation involving being upset. Except, of course, she is not upset, and if anyone were to infer that she was, they'd be mistaken. 

Lanie may actually be mistaken on this point at the moment. There was some definite side-eye coming from Lanie’s direction back at the crime scene, totally unjustified, by the way. Just because she wasn't in the mood for Cinderella jokes with a young woman dead on the ground. Just because she may have—only may have, mind you—snapped at him for providing accurate information, well, so what? Suddenly that’s side-eye worthy? 

But whatever. Even if Lanie is mistaken—even if she is needlessly on high alert at the moment—the fact of the matter is that Kate could and would go to her if she were upset. (Which she isn’t.) 

And there’s the boys, too. Of course they’re hors d’oeuvre–downing idiots who show up at Castle-level soirees under the thinnest of pretexts, salivating to know more about the jail-bait conquests of the man himself, but they are still solid go-tos in an annoying little brother sort of way. So there’s another two people way, way, way ahead of Castle in the line of people she’d go to in the event of upset-ness. 

The boys, individually and together, may also be laboring under some delusions regarding her current state of mind. It’s all silliness, but their sudden appearance at the launch may not be entirely about finger-sandwiches and swag bags. It may not even be entirely about Sierra Goodwin’s near nudes by Will James. They may be . . . pointlessly looking out for her in some ill-defined way, for some ill-defined reason? 

She’d like to blame Lanie and her side-eye, and it's always possible that the three of them, in their capacity as her first line of defense in case of upset, have been huddling up. But it’s also possible that they’ve imagined a certain acid in her tone as she initially briefed them on Rina of the Eyeliner Phone Number, when she took pains to make it absolutely clear that she’s barely out of training bras, and here and now as she gives them the low-down on the Big Baby Sitter Reveal. They have such vivid imaginations, those boys do, but there is—and has been—a complete normal amount of acid in her tone. Why would there be any more or less? It’s not like she is upset. 

When she publicly drags Teddy Farrow in the bullpen, it’s because Teddy Farrow deserves to be publicly dragged. When she allows herself to comment on Wyatt Monroe’s low-life nature after Sierra’s revelations, it’s because Wyatt Monroe is an actual low-life. None of her behavior and nothing she has said over the course of this case—up to and including something that may have constituted a slip indicating that she may or may not have seen Showgirls—means that she is fussed, distracted, off her game, or in any way upset. 

That is her stance on the issue (or non-issue) right up until the final interrogation of Travis McBoyd. He doubts her all the way into the room. He is literally on her heels,  doubting her, and she bears it with the patience of a saint—something an upset person would be very unlikely to do. She forbids him to speak, but that’s just solid police work, and does she or does she not roll with it when he pushes Travis just enough that the man from Ohio is agitated enough—upset enough, if you will—to start spilling? 

She gets her confession. She gets more than that. She eliminates the possibility that Travis McBoyd will recant, that he’ll claim he was coached, that he’ll lawyer up and try to worm his way out of the admission in the heat of the moment. She plays the recording that breaks him. 

And it is upsetting. 

Castle applauds her on her ballsy bluff, but she fends off the praise. She says out loud for all to hear that Travis McBoyd loved his wife and wouldn’t have wanted to relive her death. But “all” are not there. 

He is there and he reads between the lines. He knows she’s fixated on the fact that she’s just made the man relive something worse, and he knows her well enough not to try to ease that guilt. Not right now. 

He is there and he wants to know what other justice she’s managed to wring out of an unjust world. He assumes she’s managed it, and it’s something that he can enjoy the poetic justice of the end of the careers of Sierra Goodwin and Wyatt Monroe. It’s something. 

He is there when she finds herself taking hold of the conversation and—in the most glaring, obvious way possible—steering it toward the stupid book that the stupid Cosmo writer has already gotten to read. 

He is there when she needs someone to go to with her upsets, big and small, enormous and utterly silly. 

He is there and she wonders when that happened.

I LOVE SUTURE SM?? How did she come to serve the Decepticons? What’s the story of her curse? Idk anything about tf but u have me wanting to look into it more just w/ ur characters

KIITOS I'm also quite fond of her, although she's in a weird place meta wise currently due to some irl events. And don't worry, I'll try my best to keep this approachable, you're always welcome to ask me about tf stuff... (please come closer I will NOT initiate you into the tf Fandom I will totally not pull you in come closer I'm certainly not desperate to have more tf fan friends come clos-) /silly

She's an older gal (I think of her as someone in her mid to late 40s) and already had an established medical career by the time the war broke out which meant the emergence of the two sides of course (Autobots and decepticons). She initially made her choice to join the decepticons out of ideological reasons; they came out of a sort of rebellious sentiment and advertised themselves as advocating for (positive) change. I won't open the can of worms on how canon handled all this, I will simply continue now. After a long while of working odd jobs and being carted around places, as tends to happen in turbulent times, she ended up being recruited for the Decepticon science guild (that is made up by me not canon afaik), since they needed a bunch of skilled people for evil experiments including surgeons.

This is the most major turn in leading her down moral atrocities, since If she refused to work they'd exile her into the middle of bumfuck nowhere and war torn cyberton was quickly becoming a dead uninhabitable planet, with resources already having been dwindling for ages so. Not an ideal option. But she did already lean towards unethical acts out of desperation and survival considering the rough circumstances she was put in, war is never easy and you can't always make the good "pure" choices no matter how hard you want to, so she had become desensitized to stuff like euthanising patients to preserve resources and illegal transplants to save lives. As you do.

As for her curse that's mostly bc I thought it would be sssooooooo cool to have The Mistress - yes, That One, visit cybertron and meet some of my tf ocs bc the most advanced tech hens ever seen is radios. Hen (poorly) disguised as a robot by wearing a fullbody metal suit and sticking to the most sociable seeming bot she found at a bar and following them around like a baby duck. This is how hen met one of my other tf ocs, Cloverdash. Long story short, there's the war and so hen got injured and brought to a field station and after Cloverdash went "PLEASE please please please please please please please please please please please please" at Suture long enough she agreed to help and brought out ~the welding tools~. For a deity like The Mistress, it is utter body horror to be medically treated the way robots are so hen freaks out and in fight or flight mode accidentally casts a curse on Suture. Nothing against the very, very helpful medical professional, just primal eldritchean fear.

So yeah!

Suture starts growing meat and having random monster mutations in organic ways. I did this all bc it would be really cool as a concept

not too many! most of my fics are inspired by something else i've seen/read/listened to instead of my own life lol. without you i'm drifting on is probs the most personal with the angst, and i could get used to this is most personal with the fun! also sorta right this way, because i just freaking love Bandstand and found those parallels so easily

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?

answered here, but another one i know you're anxious for is Healer!Adam au, where adam is also atypical and has a healing power. lots of random ideas, nothing solid for that one (except for the beginning lol)

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

oof, it depends! i tend to have a vague idea of what i want to happen (the big thing) but then how i get there is usually determined by the characters/what ends up happening when i'm writing! that's how i thought i was innocent (but there is blood all on my hands) ended up being 3 chapters instead of 2, and how i miss the days when grew to be almost 15k!

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

definitely you! any time i come up with a good metaphor i think of you <3 but also I think just any of my favorite YA authors, who write fast-paced but also emotional books (like Sabaa Tahir or Leigh Bardugo) influence me. anything i enjoy becomes a sort of an influence, but i'm not sure i could pick out anything in particular i try to emulate?

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

answered here, but to go along with that, accidental pregnancy. i just don't care for it at all (though i don't mind the occasional accidental baby acquisition if it's done right)

and I CANNOT REMEMBER THEIR TUMBLR THIS IS GONNA BOTHER ME!!!!! but they wrote the amazing juke winter fic called the lucky one (i think it might be you), and also this series about 5 times _ happened. i just love their writing so much!!!! UPDATE IT’S @tangledstarlight THE LEGEND!!!!

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

listen. this one is one of my favorites so i don't know if i would actually want a sequel to it. but. light my heart and light my shadow. i want to see the emotional fallout sooooo bad!! and like, would it result in caleb telling adam about his powerup sooner? because it might force a conversation earlier? or would things have gotten even more strained between them, and caleb almost doesn't call adam when ben goes missing because he doesn't want to open that can of worms again? i don't know!!!
