What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

Being completely honest Princess Eri's bug knowledge has NOTHING to do with the direct plot and just the symbolism. at least their medical freak still has some story relevance but theyre really just cutie crawlie obsessed for no reason. and we love them for it idc!

When they make a mistake and feel bad, does the guilt differ when it’s personal versus when it’s professional?

Princess Eri takes all failures personally and hard, unfortunately ..!!!! I'd say since their job is being a princess and they feel their existence is so linked to that, the line between "personal" and "professional" mistakes is kinda blurred when it comes to them. A failure as the princess is a failure as a person in their eyes.

How do they greet someone they dislike / hate?

Princess Eri has a bit more tact and knows to not let every emotion slip through, so they become overly polite (if not slightly condescending) to people they dislike (you can thank a certain someone for that!). A great example would be when Eri meets Prince Mortimer (OC by @/nilovalentine) and is so annoyed by his attitude they have to force a smile every time they greet each other out of etiquette. Since the arc in which they meet each other is through Administrator Chun Tao's POV, she's quick to notice Eri's face immediately dropping to a sneer when they're out of view.

Who have they forgotten about that remembers them very well?

(This is for Seekers C i assume) C's family (particularly her parents) were known for being loyal to the Sumulongs, and C herself was a well-performing student at her school. While C spent most of her school years attached at Parz's hip and shy to anyone else, there was probably a student or two that was envious of her status, intelligence, and proximity to a member of a House. Some of them probably recognized her name after she received acclaim as a member of GADA.

What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?

For the longest time, C was overly conscious of the vampire bites on his neck, worried someone would question where exactly he lies between the boundary of the dead and the living. While he used to cover his neck up, he's become less worried these days, but his eyes are still drawn to the two small puncture wounds when he sees himself in the mirror. Others are more likely to notice how.. desaturated? she looks compared to other tieflings, which is also linked to her dhampir status. Also her god-awful posture. Shrimp thang.

How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?

Pretty strictly. C is used to having professional and impersonal relationships with people being a detective, so they're the type to only call you a friend if you've called them a friend first and they feel that title was "earned" through trust or enjoyment of companionship.

What would they do if stuck in a room with the person they’ve been avoiding?

Funnily enough, The Storykeeper would pretend it HASN'T been avoiding them. Playing games, teasing as always, asking them how they've been. It'd be terribly hard to tell its blood is running cold.

What’s their instinct in a fight / flight / freeze / fawn situation?

The Storykeeper would probably freeze, but in a 'I'm not gonna try to defend myself bc this is probably what was meant to happen to me' way.

Sure they did, but it was the cookie no one wanted anyway! It was probably some discard experimental flavor cookie that no one liked the taste of. But The Storykeeper loves to eat weird things! Like dryad bloo(gets impaled with a seam ripper)

Lou drives to Cassandra’s house to pick her up for Harvestfest (cleaning up quite well I might add), as she gets into his car Cassandra tells Lou that her family is considered wealthy and that he should know going in that they have high expectations for her and also trying to passively ask him to be on his best behavior. He smiles, “no problem, I got this.” Until they of course arrive at Ophelia Villa, then Lou’s confidence dropped just a little bit.

Lou, like a true gentleman held the door open for Cassandra to walk through, Mortimer and Bella immediately embrace her, and Bella gives Lou a slight side eye. Cassandra hadn’t seen her parents eyes light up like that since before she moved out, they fawned over her and asked questions, Mortimer got teary eyed over seeing the ultrasound photos, Cassandra was able to breathe a sigh of relief that her parents were so accepting.

They graciously asked Lou question, wanting to get to know him and starting small conversations, while Lou looked slightly awkward, he navigated conversation with them smoothly and tried to make a good first impression. It was the first time the Goth’s dining table had been fully seated since Cassandra and Wolfgang had broken up. Mortimer definitely seemed more open to accepting Lou, but Bella had obvious reservations and while she acted civilly, she wasn’t acting warmly.

After the meal on the way to the bathroom, Mortimer pulled Cass aside. “I can tell this guy has had a rough start in life. I see some of that reflected in his eyes when he talks. I also know a good man when I see one, and he is a good man.” Cassandra averted her gaze and looked down at her slightly growing stomach, “that doesn’t mean he won’t be without fault, and if I could be in charge of your life I would want you to be with someone who is already successful, that can take care of you and your baby, but I’m not in charge of you and I don’t want to lose my family again” Cassandra and Mortimer hugged, and he walked away to let her continue to the bathroom.

On her way out, Bella took Cassandra aside. “That man isn’t good for you,” Bella said quietly. Cassandra rolled her eyes, “just please trust me, I know how people like him work and he is just agreeing to take advantage, please reconsider. Me and your father can help you take care of this baby, more than Lou can” Cassandra started to get irritated, “you haven’t even given him a chance. You’re so quick to judge people and write them off without ever getting to know anybody. Have you ever thought maybe that’s why dad…” Cassandra trailed off realizing what she was about to say, Bella looked obviously hurt, “I know what you must think..” Bella said quietly, “but I don’t want what happened to me, happen to you. And I know the chances of that are high. I don’t want my daughter to experience that kind of heartbreak and betrayal”

Bella softly tucked Cassandra’s hair behind her ears, “having a family is a wonderful thing, but with it can come incredible heartbreak if you’re not careful” and with that, Bella walked away leaving Cassandra in the hallway. Unbeknownst to either of them, Lou happened to be at the end of the hallway and had heard everything. When Cassandra had rounded the corner, without prompting Lou had scooped her up and kissed her passionately, he was surprised that Cassandra had stood up for him the way she did.

Later that evening when Lou dropped her off at her apartment, she invited him in and sat on her bed with her head in her hands. “This is going to be a journey” Cassandra said, Lou looked and her and placed his arm over her, “let’s do it” Cassandra looked up at him, “let’s really do it, we can do this. We can be a family and I can help.” Cassandra replied, “really?”

Lou kissed her on the cheek, “really. We’re going to give this an honest try”

1. Renée’s first smug face is supposed to look somewhat mischievous as if she’s gonna pull a prank anytime soon! (She won’t though... probably...)

3. Yes, her hair does react to her emotions! It curls when she’s happy, becomes straight when she is upset and gets all messy and frazzled when she’s angry! In her case of smug faces though, her hair sort of goes to 😈 mode... She literally becomes 😈 face :3c

Daniel’s not that unhinged, but he can get heated up at some point... Like during the Harveston Kelkkarotu, before the sled race. Think of this face as Kalim’s “evil” smirk!

1. The Fawn you see in the first one is the kind of expression you’ll see when she is actually about to lose her mind... As if she’s saying “Those small fries have gone TOO FUCKING FAR!”

2. The second one is her usual smug face along with Auburn’s as if they are saying “You poor thing~”. One of them genuinely feels pity for that poor soul though...

The students were rushing in to get to their classes that day. Some collecting their books, some chatting with each other as they walk, some fixing their clothes and some of them were even checking their notes.

Then there was Leroy, who took just a tiny bit of someone’s lunch.

“LEROOOOOOOOYYYYY!!!!” The beastman student angrily yelled on top of his lungs while chasing the invisible Monsville student, tracking him down by his scent.

“Catch me if you can!” He yelled while looking back for a second, then turned around and kept his fast pace while practically sliding through the students as the angry mob pushed them away to get to him.

In the meantime, Fawn was busy discussing their next class period with Auburn, who was carrying his books in his arms.

“Say, Auburn...” She bit in her cheek while looking at him. “...D-do you think we will handle the presentation well? Have we checked the notes? Perhaps w-we should go through them again!”

“We have been preparing throughly for this for two weeks now, your highne-- Ahem, I mean Fawn. I assure you, we will handle this well. I’m sure Professor Trein will give us a high grade.” He replied as he walked. “Nothing will stop us.”

They nearly jumped in shock as the running sounds and shouts echoed in the hallway. Leroy was in the front, the student was in the back. Like the chase of a cat and mouse, they ran and ran.

“...How troublesome. It seems the iguana is at it again.” Auburn sighed, “Let’s go.”

“I.. will protect him...” She replied with a low tone, but not low enough for the redhead next to her to not hear her.

“I say we should not meddle in other people’s business—”

But she stepped in anyway, causing them to crash into each other.

“W-Watch out—” Leroy shouted at the last second, but it was to no avail.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t see the person...

*CRASH!*

“Ow..!” He gritted his teeth while rubbing his head. “That hurt...”

Then he felt around the surface to feel where he collapsed. It was soft, squishy even, and it smelled nice. But then he heard a little squeak. And as he looked up, he noticed that his head (as well as his hand) was—in fact—on Fawn’s chest. As the realization of having squeezed her chest dawned on him, the blood rose to his face and hair as well as.. other regions.

“Y-y-you should... b-be more careful, dearest...” She whispered in his ear with her face beet red.

The student was now looking at her in the eye, clearly terrified.

“Oh my~ It appears we’ve met once again, dearest Mob~” She grinned, her sharp teeth showing. “How have you been? You do not have any trouble with him, do you?”

The mob shook his head vigorously and took a step back as her smile dropped. She was now glaring at him in the eye.

“Good, because should you dare lay a finger on my beloved... You will have to face some painful consequences... Got it~?”

“G-got it!” The mob said and immediately ran away from them without looking back.

“Are you alright babe?” He asked while getting off of her and lent his hand to her, helping her get up.

“Th-thanks for asking, but I am fine...” She replied with a shy smile and cupped his face. “Are you alright though?”

“I-I am now...” He looked away with a hand on his neck.

“Ahem! We are going to be late to the class, Fawn. Shall we go?” Auburn cut them off sharply while grabbing Fawn’s wrist, earning a little sigh from the girl and a glare from the boy.

“We shall, Auburn...” She replied with a crooked smile and shook her head.

“Way to kill the mood man...” He rolled his eyes and sighed. “See ya later then, Fawn.”

But Fawn grabbed his shoulder and gently pulled him closer.

“Hey...” She whispered in his ear. “If you liked having your hands on my breasts, perhaps we should have a little sleepover sometime later~”

His face, as well as his ears and some parts of his hair, became red as he froze in place.

“...S-see you later, sweetheart!” She said as she walked away with her friend.

Leroy just stood there, stunned. Shocked even. His pants grew tighter and he was sweating profusely. He immediately turned invisible and went away to somewhere where he could help himself.

“Someday I will have my hands on that iguana’s throat, I swear...” Auburn said, gritting his teeth.

“Hm? What was that, Auburn?” She turned back and asked.

“It’s nothing, your highness. Please disregard.” He said and walked along with her to the class.

It’s the strangest thing, Joan thinks. She’d been more than happy to babysit little Kate while Ned, Lionel, and Lord Mortimer went hunting together.Dickon had seemed equally pleased at the prospect of playing with his cousin-and indeed, when both children had been- well, child-shaped- they’d been getting on very well. Then, of course, Kate had asked if it was true that Richard could turn in to a deer, and Richard had agreed to oblige her with a demonstration, but the moment he changed-

It’s the strangest thing. 

His ears flatten in alarm, and he goes rigid- trembling, frozen for a few moments- before he lunges for the safety of Joan’s skirts, trying to hide behind her and press against her side at the same time. Kate giggles, apparently under the impression that it’s an act for her amusement. She bends down and tilts her head to peer at her half-concealed cousin, still smiling. 

Richard does not like this. He makes an unhappy, discontented whine and buts Joan’s leg with surprising force, as though trying to get her to move away. Joan tuts and turns to him, sinking to one knee and tapping him gently on the nose. “That hurt,” she chides; Richard looks at her with frustrated displeasure in a way that’s pure Ned for all it’s coming from a fawn. “Aren’t you going to play with your cousin?” Joan asks, and Richard’s ears flatten again.

Kate , while all this is going on, has managed to creep silently closer- though she stays just out of reach. “Pretty,” she offers, and Richard half turns back to her. Joan bites back a laugh. Whatever had him spooked apparently does not trump his liking for compliments. He still seems a little afraid- but he takes a hesitant step back towards her. Perhaps it just took a moment for Richard’s human reasoning and animal instincts to rebalance themselves- deer were nervous of most things, as a rule, and even though Richard wasn’t, as a fawn he had startled at everything from his father’s booming laugh to his own reflection in the window. Perhaps Kate had simply been too new, and too close when Richard changed shape. Now, Richard sniffs tentatively, shakes a little, but continues to edge closer, until he’s nuzzling Kate’s hand and licking her fingers as she laughs. 

Later, when Joan came to tuck Richard in to bed and kiss him good night before she went to sleep herself, Richard opened his eyes sleepily. “Maman?” he said sleepily. “Maman-- why does Kate smell of wolf?”

Joan laughed. “Wolf?” she asked. He must mean the large dogs Lionel had brought with him, that bounded around their master’s grandchild with all the same adoring devotion they sniffed at Lionel himself with- perhaps that had been what startled the small fawn earlier. 

“Mmmm. Kate smells of wolf. Like Neddy smells of- person.”

“There are more wolves in Wales than King’s Langley, I suppose,” Joan said, which was probably true, and besides, Edmund wasn’t so keen on having his dogs inside the house as Lionel was. 

“Oh,” Richard said, considering this. “I like Kate,” he said, eyes drifting shut again.

“That’s good, sweetheart.” Joan said.

“What do wolves like to eat? Not deer.”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you ask Kate? In the morning.” she added, as Richard’s eyes flew open again and he showed signs of wanting to get up and do just that. “You sleep now,” she said, bending over and kissing his forehead. 

“Yes, maman. Maman?” he added, as Joan reached the door. “Maman, tell Kate she’s not allowed to eat me.”

“I’m sure she wouldn’t want to,” Joan said. “But I’ll tell her,” And perhaps discuss with Edward and Simon the possibility...but no. If Kate could- it would have happened by now, surely? She put the thought from her mind, and went to find her husband.

Capturing none of the drama and all of the bullshit of a very productive and interesting session (I promise there are like... normal encounters and such in there, they’re just less fun to draw).  Our friends are on their way and get some sort of talk about destiny and stuff... they continue to touch everything and run into trouble.

- Getting ready for the road, NPC Paladin Irina has brought coffee, Pazuzu mentions a special item, and Izel, Irina, and Osry fawn over the very idea of it.

- Izel continues to ply a very suspicious Raven with cheese.  One successful animal handling check later and it’s pretty chill with the giant frog man.

- Trying to fight a fearal druid, Irina is accidentally dropped into a spike trap (she’s alright).  Mortimer is working through some feelings or something.

- Milan brings out his knuckle-bones, the leader of the camp has some interesting things to say.

- Vol is a simple creature and feelings are hard.

- Artificer Pauzu and his boy (iron defender.)

The Shame of the Sacklers

Today a federal judge is expected to certify Purdue Pharmaceutical’s bankruptcy plan – a $4.5 billion settlement between the company and thousands of state and municipal governments that have sued for damages related to the opioid epidemic. The settlement occurs more than two decades after Purdue began aggressively marketing OxyContin to an unsuspecting public and after more than 500,000 people died in the United States as a result.

Purdue will be bankrupt, but members of the multi-billionaire Sackler family -- who were responsible for the decisions that led to these deaths and profited the most from Purdue’s opioid dealings -- will gain near-total immunity from future litigation. By the time the settlement is paid out they most likely will be as wealthy as they ever were.

So where does personal responsibility come in?

Arthur M. Sackler made a fortune in the 1980s by being the first to directly market prescription drugs to physicians. Utilizing many of the same direct-marketing techniques, his brothers Mortimer and Raymond and nephews Richard and Jonathan, began pushing OxyContin, which had about 1.5 times the strength of morphine. Richard, while an executive and then president of Purdue Pharma, claimed repeatedly that opioids were not highly addictive. To increase company profits, he urged doctors to prescribe as high doses as were possible, even having Purdue measure its performance in proportion to the strength of the doses it sold despite allegedly knowing that sustained high doses of OxyContin risked addiction. As Paul Hanly, a leading attorney in the case, told the Guardian, “this is essentially a crime family … drug dealers in nice suits and dresses.”

Not just nice suits and dresses. The Sackler family also purchased fawning respectability from universities, medical centers, and museums to which they contributed a fraction of their billions. Even prestigious medical schools ostensibly dedicated to advancing the public’s health fell for the ruse. One example, from the Yale School of Medicine’s magazine in late 2009:

“It would be an understatement to say that philanthropy runs in the family of Richard S. Sackler, M.D., and his brother, Jonathan Sackler. The names of their parents, Raymond and Beverly Sackler, adorn cultural and scientific centers around the world, from the Sackler Galleries at the British Museum to the famed Sackler Wing of New York’s Metropolitan Museum, to the just-launched Raymond and Beverly Sackler Institute for Biological, Physical, and Engineering Sciences at Yale. … In keeping with their family’s long-standing generosity to Yale, the brothers’ respective foundations have now joined forces to donate a $3 million endowment establishing the Richard Sackler and Jonathan Sackler Professorship, expressly intended to be held by those appointed as director of Yale Cancer Center. Richard Sackler said, “My father raised Jon and me to believe that philanthropy is an important part of how we should fill our days.”

In America, shame and honor have become confused partly because institutions that bestow honors often have the ulterior motive of extracting as much money as possible from rich honorees while knowing as little as possible about how these donors obtained their wealth. In return for the donation, honorees are imbued with moral approval.

Richard Sackler and other family members involved in this tragedy deserve to be shamed. Institutions that took their blood money should remove the Sackler name from their centers, professorships, buildings, and pediments. If they won’t be held accountable in a court of law, they must be held accountable at least in the public sphere.
