the 'all marriage is gay as far as im concerned' except its me watching a man and woman character in a show i like and accidentally saying 'theyre so gay' because i literally forget thats not the word for romance because to me all romance is gay

#normally i find the way m/f pairings are written to be really frustrating #not because its like 'i hate straight people' or whatever i literally just want them to actually like each other and communicate #or have an interesting enough dynamic i can stay invested #also i am bisexual and m/f pairings can be nice. but liek they actually have to Be Nice and like eachother or be funny at the very least #txt #scratchpost

this post was made in derision to the suggestion of male characters being inherently more complex simply by virtue of being male. it was made in frustration to the suggestion of female characters being inherently less complex simply by virtue of being female.

it was not an invitation to discredit, dissect or detract from m/m works, nor suggest the dominating percentage of it in fandom culture was solely a result of misogyny. it was not an attempt to shame creators, more of whom are women, for their sexuality i.e. exclusive attraction to men (which would be hypocritical of me) or for not creating works centered around f/f.

#this post is not about non-m/m being better than m/m.#i prefer m/f heavily myself since i am a straight woman but i would understand why many people don't like m/f.#i was not trying to insinuate m/m was inferior; much work of this is created both by women and men and many enjoy it.
