yeah the series is absolutely full of little plot points and connections and stuff
imo that’s why i liked it so much because i literally had no idea what was happening until it all clicked together for me at the end
Ok not continuing the Shatter Me series is so real. I had to FIGHT to keep my eyes open as I read book 1. For one, Aaron Warner was just so...😮💨 Not at all what I had hoped he would be like in book 1. He was terrible. End of story.
Two, the writing style (In my opinion) was so bland and boring that I kept having to put the book down and fight the urge to scream into a pillow. When I got to book 2 it was slightly better, but only SLIGHTLY. I will forever love Kenji Kishimoto, but in book 1 he gave me the ick MULTIPLE times. In book 2 and 3 he gets better though.
I'm gonna cut this short before I start going on and on about how boring the books were in my opinion. The plot was bland. The characters were meh. Like, I get it that Juliette and Aaron's minds were erased and they were childhood lovers but IDC😭 I get it that Aaron's dad is a psycho who should die, but he was, like, the only villain with no backstory WHATSOEVER.
To be honest when I heard about the series I was so excited to read it. Book 3 was the only thing that kept me going because it was Ignite Me (When Warnette becomes official) But after that I had no reason to keep going, but I did. So let me just say that I wish I had stopped reading it after book 1 like you are.
Imagine Me SUCKED (In my opinion) Like Juliette basically fell in love with Aaron's dad??😭 Anyways yeah. I wish I had done what you are doing and quit the series before I wasted money. Proud of you girl.
him being the it-boy of booktok definitely steered my initial assumptions about him in the wrong direction, that's for sure...
considering the fact that juliette was locked in an asylum for most of the year, i'm surprised that she didn't forget how to write altogether. but the absence of most commas and her love for writing numbers like 1 2 3 instead of one, two, three kind of tripped me up in the beginning 😭
juliette and aaron's minds are what? and juliette and adam were the childhood lovers, right? girl pls add context to the spoilers
SHE WHAT?? NOW I NEED CONTEXT SO BADLY BECAUSE WHA. WHY. HUH. HIS DAD?? WTF

the reason in the book that adam is not the love interest is because he kept infantalizing her and treating her as if she is fragile. juliette didn’t feel like she’s strong or capable around him, and he didn’t let her even try to realize her potential in favor of protecting her.
it is revealed that the only reason why aaron was so cruel to her is because she kept backing into her shell in the first book. he wanted to make her angry, to break her because it would show that she has some fight left. this is significant because he was studying her because aaron warners mom, leila warner (yes he took her last name), has similar powers as juliette but instead of hurting others, everytime she touches something it hurts her. aaron’s mom is in a heat vegatative state because anderson keeps abusing her and all aaron wants is to help her because his mom is like the only person important to him.
so when juliette shows up with similar powers and is retracting into herself, aaron is trying to get her to fight back against him to see if it is even possible and to see if his mom will ever get better. that’s why he was so creepily interested in her in the first book.
later once she gains her footing and takes a stand, she realizes that adam never really believed in her and that aaron, though his methods were incredibly flawed, did. aaron’s mom dies, and aaron apologizes profusely for his actions in the first book. stuff like the scene where he shot that man are revealed to be because the man was abusing his family, when he made her kill that kid was revealed to be a simulation, etc.
juliette decides that she loves aaron because of their shared history and the fact that aaron treats her as an equal rather than as something to be protected. adam lashes out at juliette for choosing aaron, but they later make up because adam and james are aaron’s brothers so they agree to get along and everyone lives happily ever after.
not saying that aaron’s actions were okay in the first book, but he had reason for them 🤷♀️

uhm so with the anderson thing basically what happened was anderson wiped her memories and made her his body guard in imagine me
throughout the series it is established that anderson is attractive enough and that he looks a lot like his son, aaron warner.
in imagine me juliette finds him attractive but she really only mentions it once in a throwaway comment, which then leads to andersons disgust and him asking her to leave, she does and then juliette’s bio father, and the doctor said something about how like he is conventionally attractive so it isn’t really unexpected
lol @ella-posts-14 you made it seem like she was falling for him when in reality she just thought that a conventionally attractive man, who she didn’t know was an evil villain and her boyfriends dad, was mildly attractive. she got flustered because she wanted to do a good job at being his bodyguard because from what she knew she got unexpectedly promoted to one of the most important jobs in the world. anderson was actually completely disgusted by her finding him attractive though.
and yeah aaron was an absolute terrible person in the first book and if you like him your insane in that book. he has character development though and a lot of what he did in the first book is mildly justified later- but he is a very flawed character. did u know that adam was supposed to be the main love interest and was based on teherehs boyfriend at the time but then he broke up with her so she changed the love interest?
yeah and also with juliette’s childhood: juliette’s actual name is ella sommers and is the daughter of one of the supreme commanders. she spent her entire childhood friends with aaron and nazeera and had a sister emmaline. emmaline was found to have powers, so her parents faked her death and started using her for experiments for their world domination ploy. later, the same thing happens to ella, and all the kids memories are wiped. instead though, she is given a new name by anderson (juliette ferrars) and is relocated to the other side of the world with an adopted family. they wiped her memories, and then basically let her live a ‘normal’ life until her powers were discovered and anderson put her in the cell that she is found in at the beginning of the first book. so yeah, aaron and ella (or juliette) are childhood best friends with memory loss. ella was only ever meant to be the replacement for emmaline for if they messed up or the many experiments became too much for emmaline.
this ploy is brought to fruition in imagine me where juliette gets her memories wiped and thinks that she is andersons bodyguard, as they realized that emmaline didn’t have much time left and the juliette’s powers would equally suffice to help them. he was trying to make juliette feel special (because being a bodyguard is a coveted position) in order to coerce her into agreeing to essentially give her life to the reestablishment
okay there’s more but my fingers are tired bye
