A/N: Okay after a big brake and re writting this thing on like 6 times i can finally post THE BEGGINING PART of this series ( please kill me ), i wanted to post it all together, but since i haven't post in mounts i prefer to do this in separated parts so you can enjoy it. I'm sorry I taked to long, a lot of things have happened in my personal life...

You can see it more in a normal SAGAU rather that SAGAU imposter AU. This takes place after Fontaine Archon Quest!

His bad luck is back again.

As Bennett was in the branch of a large tree, avoiding the rocks that 3 Hilichurls are throwning at him, he can't stop thinking back some months ago, where his life was the best he have ever dream.

Back in the day the Almigthy Creator woke up from their sleep and took the Traveler as their first vassel, he was daydreaming of ever meeting them, since he haves memory, he can remember his dads telling him bedtime storys and legends of the Almigthy Creator, of how they made this word, bless it and mold all with care and love for all of them was something they did often when he was more little, never he could imagine that the literally Creator of all would woke up in Mondstatd, something that just elders pray about to see with their eyes, something that young ones hope that their generation would have the pride to tell about, it finally happend.

You can even imagine his exciment when he notice how other vision holders began to be grap in the wram embrace of the Guide of the elements, not only from Mondstatd, but also Liyue and even some from Inazuma and Sumeru and Fontaine! You could heard the loud "GASP" he let out when non other that Razor was chosen as a vassel from miles away, how his eyes sparkle as he saw the vassels walk by, showing the artifacts and wepons their Grace gift to them with pride ( Even tho that at the begining they were just random and din't really fit them... ).

Slowly but surely, people around Teyvat began to randomly be chosen as a vassel, and he could only wish to be one of them, he tried his hardest to cach their goddly sigth for just a second, fithing enemies that other adventures fear ( Even tho he end up in Mondtastd church to be heal by Barbara ), getting inside a ancient ruin to get a legendary artifact ( Wich was just a rumor and it din't exist such thing ), heck, he even began to pray harder before going to sleep to the point of almost dessesperation, as his dads peeked thro his door staring at him, kneling infront of his bed almost screaming.

✑⸻"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DEAR CREATOR PLEASE-"

As just time pass, he began to get a bit anxius, more and more people he know were chossed as vassels, but not him... Razor, Barbara, Kaeya, Lisa, Amber, The Traveler, Noelle, all discribe from a different perspective how it was the felling of becoming a vassel, something that he really wanted, but knowing his luck... the only thing he could had is hope.

One late nigth, when his constellecion was shining for all to see in the dark of Mondstatd, his bad luck hit again, making him running around to cach a owl that steald his sword, he presenciate something that fit the tittle of Miracle, a meteor shower start, as he know from the tales...

"When the meteor shower start and your constelaccion is up in the sky, theres a chance that they see you, and take you as their new vassel"

As the sky began to shine, he have see it before, normally theres a purple glow on it, and people have said that if they chose you, that beuthiful purple glow start would approuch you.

Aneixiety began to grow in his stomach, going up to his throt. He cross his fingers and murmur under his breath.

Forgeting about his now lost sword, Bennett began to pray, closing his eyes hard and taking a deep breath, feeling the wind pass thro his hair softly, and how his hands tremble a bit, it was almost as time have pause itself.

When he slowly open his eyes, he meet a shiny purple glow that stryke him... quite literally, because he feel backwards as the star hit him all over the face-

Even with the way it began, he can swerd for his life that that was the luckyes day he will ever have and had.

To his great surprise, the Almigthy Creator adore him! He felt a blush on his checks as he heard the voice of non other that the Gods of Gods, prise him, and call him cute names that only his fathers call him, the nickname they use more to call him was "My child" ( Tho he notice that they call "My child" almost everyone around his age or below, but still he was the first to be call that. ), they spend a good amount of time farming artifacts meant for him, swords? Now he have a good hand to pick of, as the the Almigthy above is always getting new wepons and they always see if theres one that cold fit him, he knows is a support, he have heard it from the Creator one or two times, but it still make him feel so especial to know that the Almigthy Creator has favorites and he is one of them... wich sooner or later, make him actually see the Almigthy Creator as a parental figure.

Along side them, his bad luck dessapeard, chest were not affected by his bad luck, weather? Nope, teamates? Never, now that they have make him stronger he was not only able to protect himself, but now his others... Countless adventures, powerfull enemies, lovely escenarys, all that he dream of when he was back in his normal life have came real... Or so he thogth.

Because dreams are that, dreams, and one way or another, you would wake up.

Maybe it was his fault for becoming so dependient of them.

Maybe it was his fault for letting his guard down.

Maybe he could have do something to prevent them for dissapear.

But after all, he is a mere mortal, a teeneger.

Six months back, some time after that Fontaine was saved from the profesy, he wake up and make his day, everything was normal, all people were doing their own things, but... he some how feel... out of place, like something its wrong, one of his first mistakes was think that it was his imagintaion or after the Creator appeard like usual and take control over him he would feel better, but they din't show up.

Its not so out of place that they din't appear for time to time, but this time it feel... different, he can't put his finger on it, but it feel weird.

So, him, the vassels, archons and Teyvat wait.

And waited.

And waited...

And... waited...

They didn't return back.

People began get worried around Teyvat, trying to figure out where are they and if they are okay, but when the preyers and vassels call their holy name there was no anwser...

Its almost as they didn't exist, like it was before their awakening, the vision holders that were filled with their warm often, now feel more cold that they would have before, and the more terrefing thing was, the things they got for them slowly losse their holy aura.

The artifacts? Began lo lose the color they had.

The wepons? Began to be normal ones that were capable of getting broke.

The visions? They don't shine as they used to.

And slowly, his bad luck was back again.

Today was one of these days.

The wind took his map out of his reach, he got loss, it began to rain, a bunch of Hilichurls hunt him down, and last but not least, the sword they took a bunch of materials to level up for him, broke in two when he was figthing the Hilichurls back...

He was huging the handle of the now broke sword, something that remind him of the Almigthy Creator, as he tried to make the Hillichurls go away, swinging the sword at them.

✑⸻"Sho! Sho! Bad Hilichurls! Ba- H- hey! Stop trowing rocks at me!- Ouch- nOT THE SLIMES-"

He tried to cover himself as the Hilichurls began to tried pull up Pyro slimes to tried to hit him, but... they just suddenly stop their accions, and were staring at him ( Kind of, the masks make it hard to know if they are looking at him... )

Bennett couldn't finnish the sentence before the three Hilichurs run for dear life, did he scared them-?? Or-

✑⸻"W-WHOA-! WH-WHAT IS GOING ON-?!"

The ground began to shake to much it made him almost trip and fall, clinging to the tree for balance, he began to hear... the sound of a machine, clocks, old metal of a heavy height, that was just behide him.

✑⸻"[Please don't be a Ruind Guard, please don't be a Ruin Guard, please don't-]"

Slowly looking backwards with his eyes closes he began to pray every divine being to protect him, to pray it wasn't a Ruin Guard, the loud noises of foosteps made by a giant machine steping agains the wet grass, the cold wind and the rain souding hardly againts his ears, Bennett slowly open one of his eyes.

Oh! That's not a Ruin Guard.

A machine much larger that a Ruin Guard, or any machines he have seen in Mondstandt, so large that even the large tree he was on look like a tiny branch, it seams like its made of pices of old metal and ruins, wet thanks to the rain, and making loud noises as it walks, that thing breaths fire... he can't quiet cach it all, because that thing is almost gonna crush the tree he is clinging-

✑⸻"OH OH- NO NO NO- W-WHOA!!"

His luck again betrays him, but this time, it puts him rigth in the line of life and death.

He tried to get down of the tree as quick and safe posible, but not only thanks by the ground shaking and the wet branch he was on, he slips and falls, before all turns dark, before he hits the ground, before he is crush to death by that thing, his only wish is...

Maybe after death, he can finally feel their warmt again.

Slowly open his eyes, his vision was blury, but one thing is sure, theres fire close to him, and there someone here in this room with him...

Jumping on the couch, now fully awake, Bennett frote his eyes multiple times to clear his view- is he in a coma? A dream? Alucination? He haves never heard of something like this before!

The talking fire was... weird, it had eyes, and a mouth, being in a old looking fire place cover in ashes, close to the sofa he was in, it seams like it also haves hands, because rigth now it pull some fresh wood agains their flamimg body to burn even more.

✑⸻"You almost gives us a heart attack, you know? Finding you pass out in the middle of the way to the north of Mondstatd while it was raining was somethimg we weren't expecting at all... You feel alrigth? Your brusies were pretty bad, and im not very sure if the healing magic work out... you really have a BAD curse you know?"

Getting out of his shock, Bennett quickly check himself out, looking at the clean new bandages he can tell they were recent, his body don't really hurt like it normaly do, he feels just like when Barbara finish to heal him, or when the holy power of the Creator heal him...

Curse? What does that mean- is it refering to his bad luck?

✑⸻"I uh- yes! i feel great, thank you...?"

✑⸻"Im Calcifer, a extremely powerful fire demon and protector of this place, nice to meet you kid... its have been a while that i don't introduce myself like that-"

✑⸻"Demon!? Wait- uh- can you tell me where are we?? I remember falling from a branch because i wanted to escape from a giant machine that was going to crush me- and- how long i been sleeping??"

✑⸻"We are in (•••) castle, its very messy around here, so don't go wandering around here- (•••) haven't clean around here for a while now and i totally refuse to do it for them... and, you have been sleeping like... one and half day? Most likely"

✑⸻"I been sleeping that long?! Crap! my fathers are gonna get worried!!-"

Bennett tried to stand up, but with just his first step he fell to the floor and Calcifer got to the edge of the old fire wood

✑⸻"Hey- slow down kid!- you haven't eat anything for a while, even if you were sleep you body haven't recarge the energy lost, you know? Not to mention the weird escenario you were on before you pass out"

✑⸻"But- [sigh] i need to go back, i been far from home before but- this time they don't know were i am..."

✑⸻"Well, sorry to get you out of your bubble, but you are wounden and we are almost at the north of Mondstatd, if you try to go home like this, im pretty sure you will have a pretty bad death"

Bennett, looked at Calcifer defeated, sighing and re incorporing slowly in the sofa, as he began to murmur

✑⸻"[Sigh] Can you... Can you atleast help me to go back? Please?"

Calcifer looked away avoiding the puppy eyes of Bennett, and seem a bit nervous by the question.

Calcifer was abruply interrupted by the sound of a door being open, the craking woodfloor as fast footsteps where heard.

✑⸻"Calficer, we need to move 50 meter away please, i just saw some treasure-... horders..."

The person let mid sentence as they saw Bennett, full awake.

MY headcanons for like anything morph around a lot depending on what i wanna daydream about in that moment so things get loosey-goosey - i joked about the myriad of AUs i made for the main character of an otome game I drew a lot of fanart for a few years back that I imagine it all like this one map for b3313 i saw years ago

like this HVFGSKDJHFEksafds everythings connect but also not and some are parallel and some are unrelated and some are branching storylines for the same concept while others are like. what if they were in space. i have fun <3

BUT anyway what i was thinking about is like, most of my silly comics kind of have a weird mix of like. imagining a production company that specifies in voice and singing production and also like. old 2009 vocaloid fandom canon where synths know theyre a specifc install of software in a computer and know about the user and all LOL im more of an oldhead than i think i am.......... i missed out on the entire scene from 2018-2020 tho so even tho i love old songs and new songs theres like that two year gap thats always a surprise for me <3

SO like i often imagine all the different engines as like. separate offices or separate office buildings. all mostly in the same district tho. tin pan alley ass situation. THE UTAU building is huge and chaotic with a new addition under construction with openutau, the vocaloid building is like sleek and a bit old fashioned but slowly amping up its to its old glory, some of the smaller engines like voicevox and such i picture as like smaller offices within the same building - so someone like sora whos on both sv and vocaloid i always imagine going between the offices (engines) to do different voicework, someone like rikka runs between voicepeak, sv, and cevio talk all together. shes very busy....

a really old deprecated software like i dunno lalavoice. dectalk. etc also have an office but everyones too scared to visit. they never see people leave or go in but the lights are still on. haunted by perfect paul.

anyway sometimes i also move over into my less meta daydreams so something like the virvox guys who i've gotten kind of attached to, sometimes its fun to imagine them as just normal guys doing voicework in a real office building that just happens to have companies called voicevox synthv and a.i.voice on different floors HFJKDSJHksd i like picturing stories where theyre like underdog voice actors/singers trying to make it big.... its very fun hee hee

actually i like doing that a lot in general. my favourite scenario is a big first concert that almost goes wrong (maybe technical issues) but just barely manages to go through fine and connect the singer with the small audience.. a classic..... can you tell im a love live fan....

OH heres some specific headcanons i tend to lean into relationship wise:

asterian rikka and genbu i like to imagine hanging out a lot as buddies and close co-workers because they were the first three vocal synths i bought and the only three full sv banks i have currently DKJFSJdkfsdakfds like you know how some people talk about like "work-husbands"? genbu is rikka's work-big-brother and asterian is like her work-dad <3 i imagine asterian to be like early 30s ish at most so hes a bit young for work-dad status but i think itd be really funny if he got a worlds best dad mug from her. like. thanks kid. but damn.........

and yeah i have absolutely incorporated your frimomen as rikkas dad headcanon into my worldview its so good dude. i think hed be so wonderfully embarassing <3 and i think itd be funny if he got a mug from rikka that just says like "dad". no worlds best or anything. moon god work-dad is cooler.

genbu's getting a congratulations on turning 3 toddler birthday card from rikka and thats it. i like imagining them as a bit of a shenanigans duo.... like a big brother who tries to be responsible for a second but immediately gets swept up in some bullshit anyway. 20 something bro who enables ur teenage sillyness <3

relationships are a big thing for me I looooooove picturing all kinds of dynamics like friends family romantic etc its so fun. i keep calling the eclipsed sounds starry court the celestial polycule and part of that is because i didnt know what else to call them before i saw the official starry court name but also i do like those three together a lot, romantically, platonically, any which way. saros is very silly in particular. i imagine them like 6 feet tall and full of chaos and solaria and asterian as like a wonderful 5'9

sometimes i think its fun to imagine universes where the starry court dont know theyre synths nor celestial deities and like theyre normal people with secret powers they havent unlocked yet..... i had some daydream a year or two back about asterian in a slightly dystopic future unlocking moon powers by discovering ancient technology in a fallen moon. if that makes sense. i forgot why.... but i think its a fun AU

i tend to focus on a lot of relationships between synths that share software but i also think its fun to think about shared voice providers, like i always imagine sora having like this sisterly bond with the coco sisters despite no blood relation. they are sisters...... sisters forever....

i do wanna start considering unrelated synth relationships more often tho... most of the time obviously i treat miku like shes the biggest synth star because she is HJKFSDHJkdsrfjds so i often picture other synths viewing her as like a celebrity. altho some know her personally like teto or gumi LOL i think theyre BUDDIES they have known eachother for over a decade. OH and im also a mean teto truther. i love her being kind of mean and jaded HJKFDsjds i think shes ultimately softhearted but i like to picture she has a bit of a hard edge

but yeah i really like playing around with these guys!!! they are fun dolls for me <3

Your take on the more psychological(?) aspect of Bellumbeck is cool, I like thinking about what kinds of things (or aspects) of Linebeck Bellumbeck is perhaps a sort of physical representation of.

Bellumbeck being Bellum giving Linebeck a fucked sort of way to be what he might want is so... I don't know for sure when that clicked for me, or if it was something I initially created as a headcanon before realizing it fit with canon, but it's WONDERFUL.

Bellumbeck essentially being the worst parts of Linebeck set loose is so good.

Linebeck and Bellum do not interact beyond that final boss fight but it's so fun to think about them having parallels for somehow being connected or whatever despite having minimal canonical interaction. They both seem very desperate to survive and get what they want and care little about the other people they encounter along the way unless they really need to rely on them for something.

Bellumbeck is fun and I think can be viewed and interpreted in so many cool ways and it’s just neat to see other angles and concepts around it and to see what can be tied together.

Thank you. I've always liked darker parts of mangas and animes. Though I've never been able to make an au due to that I often ruin it as I make them. Most often because theres a lot I have to remember or reread that I quickly loose steam. Or I loose interest as the story goes on.

The KN8 series is a bit different though. Its easier for me to remember stuff and I like how things are going too. Not to mention I'm having a lot of fun making hcs about it too. So I'm very happy to be able to make a au from the manga and anime.

I don't know if I'll share anymore of it anytime soon though. You've giving me a lot of stuff to think about and some good advice too. But I do hope you'll be happy to hear more once I've have more to share? You have an amazing mind Sonic and I find a lot of fun reading your blogs.

I tend to write down my stuff first particularly the important details as it's easy to expand on it. A nice main basis that can be branched out later if something comes to mind. Plus you can take the bits of canon you like and work with that.

What was the au where Jekylls pushed down the stairs and experiences a skull crackening again? Oh well but I've been thinking of a branch of that where Jekyll doesn't know hes dead like all day. I also cant remember if that was already discussed or not

The lodgers patch him up, he complains of a headache, and goes on his merry way! He's confused why all the lodgers are so nervous and being nice to him all of the sudden, why creature is looking at him with a stange mix of empathy and pity. He was told he fell down the stairs, fell unconscious, and obtained a bit of an injury. He cant fathom why Frankenstein is "The only doctor who can treat him" why he has to constantly go to her for checkups. Why Maijabi is suddenly following him practically everywhere.

Hyde squeezes back control for a moment and tries the potion but it doesn't work. Maybe a bit of pain but certainly no transformation. Jekyll assumes his injury or whatever medication they're giving him to treat it somehow negated the effects

Jekyll complains about "suddenly blacking out" the lodgers know its because his soul is slippery. They tell him it must just be a side effect of the injury and not to worry

How long can they keep it secret from him? When does he find out? Does he? Does it get to be years only for him to realize that he hasn't aged? That he still needs checkups from Frankenstein? Does he learn sooner? Does a lodger crack and say it? Does he rot? Does he notice how so very cold he is. How animals act around him? It's all very interesting,,

I actually did think a bit of Jekyll's kidnappers for the amnesia kidnapping au! When drawing that lil sketch of Henry and O'Leary meeting Robert I had considered making it so O'Leary was suspicious of Lanyon like "Oh theres no news anywhere of someone matching Thomas' description who's missing. But some random people walk up claiming to know him? Begging to take him back with them?" And he'd think they were the kidnappers. But ultimately I decided against it as I felt Lanyon and Rachel were pretty clearly, genuinely concerned for "Thomas" :p

I tried playing assassins creed once, the first(?) one. But the controls were confusing and everything was sorta thrown all at me at once, and I got bored of it quickly

But! I went to the store the other day and just so happened to notice Syndicate was being sold for 15 dollars 👀 So I bought it because funky Victorian assassins and your influence! It's a bit less confusing then the first ac game I tried but why is going down or dropping so hard bdksnks. I'm having quite a bit of fun! I like the funky outfits and I want to play as the girl twin (evie?) forever because her clothes are good and shes better at attacking than jacob(?) For some reason. Probably the stun her weapon has? But god, I really like that branch! Especially combined with the hc that he can't feel pain bc the HJ7 and the transformations made him immune. Frankenstein patched him up and made fleshweaver to heal the crack in his skull but it still has to be bandaged, he surely broke a few bones, yet all he has to do is to be careful because it doesn't even hurt. He doesn't even realize how severe the injuries are because it doesn't hurt, it very well might just have been that he accidentally slipped at the bottom of the staircase and accidentally hit his head on the railing during his fall, rather than getting physically pushed and flying down the stairs, shattering his skull upon impact with the marble floor. Y'know what would be extra fun? If he only starts getting a bit suspicious about how severe the injury was once he realizes his lungs stop breathing for minutes at a time when he gets distracted, or his heartbeat stops dead in his chest. I know that that's not how biology or even creature works but lets say the HJ7 is funky, Zombie Jekyll my beloved. Perhaps he would only fully grasp what had happened once he blacked out too much and 'passed out', but his soul slipped out enough to leave his body unconscious on the floor while his soul/ghost was just... Watching. And it's not until Maijabi (who, as you said, follows him everywhere) immediately calls for more Lodgers saying that Henry's soul is getting unstable and Frankenstein's lousy job is starting to shine through that he fully understands that it was not a mere hit to the head. Or maybe it is when days, weeks, maybe months has passed and the headache never goes away, he only feels how his body starts feeling so much more... Fragile and delicate, that the guilt has eaten Helsby up alive and he corners him and spills everything, knowing he is going directly against what the group agreed to but not being able to keep it a secret much longer-- or maybe Creature would tell him immediately, once Henry is, for once, alone perhaps days after the initial accident. He cannot see Henry struggle to understand what is going on when he already knows what's happening to Henry, his mind, and his body. He doesn't listen to the plan that Frankenstein and the Lodgers has set up and immediately tells Henry the first moment they are alone. That would certainly be horrifying, I can only imagine how the Lodgers would find Henry after that, once he actually knows and manages to process everything. He would be so mad, not only to have been killed in the first place, but also because he was robbed of an afterlife because the Lodgers were selfish and could not accept the consequences of their actions. He would be mad, he would be so pissed and I have no doubt he might actually be mad at Maijabi too for even agreeing to help Frankenstein and the rest of the Lodgers. That anger would not stay long, though. That anger would soon turn into misery and sadness and paranoia so even as Henry has tried to push Maijabi away, Henry still ends up on his doorstep begging him to help him make sure he is not rotting, because no matter what anyone says, he is sure he can see rotten spots and patches on his skin and he is just so scared and jdhfjsdfdsfsfs... <3

Ooooooohhh, I was actually daydreaming about this just this morning! Granted, I woke up at 5 and began to daydream to fall asleep quicker but I still like the thought of O'Leary being suspicious of Robert/Rachel/Jasper/the Lodgers bc he is protective of 'Thomas' and doesn't want anything bad to happen to him and especially with the idea that Henry still has hallucinations and they both think he was abandoned by his family, left to rot at a mental asylum. O'Leary might very well think that it might be Henry's friends and family that dumped him that Henry had 'escaped' the hospital and that's why they knew he was missing since the Asylum itself obviously wouldn't have posted the news... I really liked Jeks idea, okay? Like a lot, I absolutely love it <3

Oh, the oldest AC game I played was Unity bc it was free after the Notre Dame fire, and I can confirm, I played 15 min and could not get through it even if i would have wanted to, it absolutely sucks so i have no doubt the older games are just as frustrating <3

BUT!!!! I'M SO GLAD MY CORRUPTION IS SPREADING AND YOU BOUGHT AND PLAYED IT AND ARE ENJOYING IT SO FAR!!! Trust me, Syndicate truly is an absolutely amazing game and is definitely one of my top 3 games of all time. I sometimes play it w my friend watching me play and trust me, I know that rage of trying to do smt but the character does smt else... or you try to do smt but the game doesn't react and you miss your chance... My friend loves to play as Evie as well but I'm definitely playing Jacob every chance I get and I honestly get a lil pissy when I have to play as Evie bc I always prefer to play male characters, plus, I just like Jacob better bc he is a sweetheart. He is also canonically bisexual as hell!!! Have you met Abberline yet? The police officer? Him and Jacob together is one of my fave ships for the game. I also bought the ultimate/golden/whatever name it was edition so I had a bunch of extra outfits, I love the sherlock holmes outfit for Jacob but my friend keeps bullying me for it </3

Honestly? The time difference is the bane of my entire idea for the au bc if it's during their time Henry hasn't even graduated yet, and definitely not well-known enough for them to actively meet for whatever reason, and if you use the timeline for the jack the ripper dlc (in 1888) a lot of... Less than pleasant things happen so it wouldn't really make a lot of sense for a crossover to happen at that point but maybe it's just bc im a pussy and refuse to play the dlc. Rn, while imagining the au, I just imagine the 1868 timeline to be the same as the TGS timeline. I like to imagine the Frye Twins hearing about Henry and the Society and promptly breaking into his office to ask him to make poison and stuff for them. I also have a feeling that Jacob would flirt wildly with Henry and that Henry would be less-than-amused. It would also be a very fun thing with the fact that there would be two Henrys, with TGS Henry Jekyll and AC Syndicate Henry Green, soo... XD

Nests and why they are important.

This is just idea thinking. For the winged au (when talking about birds and people and such I mean the people with wings, sorry!)

Okay so nests

They are circles made of blankets, pillows, feathers and a soft mattress that is difficult to tear or cut, because claws.

They are the place these feather heads sleep and keep warm but

There is way more than that!

Okay so,,,, lets get into the world building

Predators (eagles/hawks) are bigger than most other birds with only a few exceptions, therefore they need less blankets and pillows to keep warm since they themselves can keep warm just fine on their own plus there’s wings, so adding onto that a predator will keep molted feathers that have been gifted to them in their nest, gifting a feather is something very important because it’s like giving a piece of your essence.

A birds wings symbolizes their freedom and who they are, a slaves or prisoners wings may be broken, burned or torn right off to show what they are, that they have lost their freedom and who they are as a person.

A predators nest is usually a bit above the ground, but babies bounce so it’s okay. When they have chicks there will usually be many more blankets and pillows. You can actually tell where the chick/s sleep because there will be this little separate nest made of blankets and pillows, inside the nest, with these large imprints around them. It’s really cute. ^-^

A song bird’s (Robbins, starlings, sparrows, etc) nest is naturally smaller than a predators and have many more blankets and pillows to keep them warm and comfortable. A songbird might give hand made blankets or pillows with one of their feathers sewn in.

It is very unwise to refuse a gift from a songbird since gift giving is something very important to these small but mighty people and if you refuse a gift they will take great offence and you will find a pouty songbird (but like seriously these guys are tiny terrors DO NOT PISS THEM OFF TRUST ME. They can and will out fly and out maneuver you, theres a reason they’re hard to catch.) How you can get forgiveness is by giving them a basket with some bread and a few other things such as berries or seeds and some sweets.

A song birds nest will be on the ground usually in an open area (in their house of course!) where natural sunlight can easily come in. There would usually be a wide window on each side of the room to let in light from the sunrise and light from the sunset. Song birds rise and set with the sun.

A corvids nest (ravens, jays, magpies) is actually one of the only ones to still use sticks and natural items for their nests, it’s actually incredible. Their instincts are still rather strong when it comes to certain things, so they tend to have a liking for tradition but there are some who don’t follow tradition.

Please do not offer to help a corvid with their nest, in their culture it means you have a romantic interest in them and they will either A) explain to you what that means to them or B) tell you no or let you down gently or C) accept your offer. If they accept your offer hopefully you understand their culture or you’ll be having an awkward conversation.

They still have a mattresses it’s just more bowl shape and surround by sticks, moss and leaves. Plus blankets, pillows and feathers, they’re still keeping up with the times. Usually with a corvids nest (specifically magpies but all of them do this) you’ll find shiny little objects woven into the branches that keep the nest together. Taking one of these usually means untold doom, adding one and it staying there means that you are trusted, the corvid thinks of you as part of their flock. Congrats you now have a giant puppy that will commit theft for you /lh

A Corvids nest because of the bowl shape can be hard for chicks to crawl out of. This is actually used to the parents advantage so that until the baby birds can crawl out of the nest without any help they’re more or less restricted to the nest for safety reasons of course! The parents will take the chicks out of the nest so that they can get fresh air, meet people and actually learn how to walk and further develop their muscles and wings.

Owls who? Haha don’t mind the pun. Anyways, an owls nest well more like their cities are up high in the trees, in the ancient forests. The trees in the ancient forests are at least three metres across and the height is very tall. They’ll have their nests in either natural or homemade hollows in these large and ancient trees high above the ground. But don’t worry! The have decks and bridges and railings and all that to help keep them safe! There’s even ramps that lead to the ground incase any chicks who are branching fall to the ground or any elders or just people who can’t fly in general are on the ground!

You will not catch a single stair in the owls home, they believe that for everyone to be equal everything must accessible by everyone, there’s even some elevators using the pulley system! Everyone there does their fair share, even the children, instead of money being used people will trade items or help the other person out.

Their nests tend to have a lot of animal skins instead of blankets, with pillows made of fur that has been taken off of the animal skin and wrapped or tied together with string or fabric. Their mattresses are flatter and tend to be made of moss, leaves and bark softened through boiling of water then covered in more furs because soft = yes.

Burrowers are birds that live under ground, it’s in the name. Think hobbit holes but put them at the base of large trees or bushes and make them not hobbit holes. Because the term “Burrowers” spread across most families it is difficult to pin point a specific design or commonality between all of the different “Burrowers”. Usually you can assume a Burrowers nest will be like the rest of their species/ family but put it underground.

Tropical birds will have their nest anywhere, inside a hut, on top of the trees (literally), inside a tree, on the branches, on the ground, hanging in the air, anywhere they will put their nests. But there are two things in common, one: it’s always in a heavily forested place or the jungle, tropical birds have grown up with vines and branches and a lot of things getting in their way while flying, they have grown used to the chaos of the jungle and they revel in it. Two: the roof is always transparent, removable, nonexistent or it’s there simply so the house is attached to at least something while its hanging in the air.

Because of their choice of residence (where they want to live) it’s extremely hard to get to their homes so we had to ask a tropical bird when we found one and the most they told us was: “we have a mattress, pillows and blankets.” And they wouldn’t tell us anymore because. “What else is there to tell?”

A hummingbirds nest is rather small with high walls. Because the chicks are so fragile they spend most of their time inside the nest sleeping, eating and trying to strengthen up their bones. In fact their bones are so fragile that if a hummingbird chick were to try and walk their legs would simply snap under the pressure of gravity and their own body weight.

When under quite a bit of stress or experiencing quite a lot of emotions or just one strong emotion, the nest will be changed. However, how much of the nest that will be changed is is a different story.

Another time the nest will be changed is when the people of the house are expecting chicks, either the entire home will be cleaned or the nest will become nothing but a blanket Fort, or something like that.

your point abt it being modern times, i think abt that a lot too. Im kind of pessimistic, trans aus for falsettos, or anything really set in that period (i was into stranger things for a while, that had a lot of trans content) while i do engage and consume it, in the back of my head theres always something gnawing saying "yeah but this is so unrealistic, i mean, transitioning to that extent at that time, really?" but it is possible and people did do it. i follow and read about lots of older trans ppl that were transitioning during that time and it really helps me w these au's and remember that people did live their lives, it was hard holy SHIT it was hard, but they did and thats beautiful. even though im pessimistic, these aus make me really happy for that reason, remembering that it was possible and people did live as themselves, even though it was tough, and a lot of them didnt survive.

i really love transfem marv because again the implications of really how much she has to overcome the internalized misogyny, not just being friends with women but being a woman. shifting gears entirely i think whizz would be farther in his transition than marv when they meet. Re: College au, I remember Em talking about how he ‘hates reading other peoples writing’ and it makes me wonder if he’s dyslexic but has an easier time reading his own writing, or has some other processing/learning disability —— though, as an autistic person I also think he very much comes across as ‘autistic person who has learned to *mostly* hide his visible autistic traits’ and that can fuck with your learning, too) —— I submit that Colson’s heckling about Em doing his share of the work eventually leads to Em reaching his limit of dealing with negativity bc he has such shitty self esteem and explosively (not necessarily angrily) confessing his struggles and Colson helping him by going to whatever student services are available to ask for accomodations, a tutor to help him learn HOW to study(I’ve read lots of people get to college without knowing how) in a way sustainable for himself/how to incorporate his accomodations into his study, and Kells is more patient and aware now & he learns to start to pick up on when Em, whose actually trying now that he has support structures in place, is reaching the end of his rope with a study session and they can take breaks and stuff to help him reboot his study limit build-ups? Now I really REALLY wanna set out and write a slowburn college au like this. It seems like it would be so much fun to explore a different type of Em with. Theres just so much to play with, like you said with him maybe struggling at working in a paired project or I could even go off my idea of him having to leave his comfort zone to drag Colson out of some frat party and branch off of that with some overstimulated Em who's almost to tears by the time he finds Colson because of the loud music, blurring conversations, and just everyone touching and bumping into him over and over.

belial is the son of satan, who created him as a sort of test run for the antichrist (this is gomens adjacent and he then realized w the ~failure of belial that maybe the thing was making him human! so then had adam w lilith. anyway. it sort of strayed far from gomens so u can just replace adam w the generic antichrist and the point remains). belial is like 2000 years old but ~20 ish in human terms. YES we stole a demon name for him no I don't care to know anything about actual belial. we just call him eli and he's a Good Boy. I mean obviously a lil evil he was raised by satan (sort of. satan is not a responsible father. the responsibility was given to others who are distinctly Not Him). but he's sweet! he's got Complexes bc he never lived up to expectations, had no loving influence in his life (except one but like I said this is cringe we aren't getting into it all). on the outside he's an arrogant brat of a boy but like once u get to kno him he's a sweetheart. he wants nothing more than to be Loved and Seen. which is where dilly comes in but I'm getting there. his fc is c//ody f//ern which is hilariously accidental and nothing to do w him playing the antichrist but also it's super funny and gives good material for inspo. there's also a human au to this that we honestly talk abt more than this currently in which satans satan-ness is instead running a crime empire and being a dick so eli's just a spoiled rich boy w a lot of trauma who tries to ammend for his father's shittiness when his father's imprisoned. yes we made a human au out of literal lucifer no don't question it.

THEN THERES DILLY played by r//ami m//alek and he's a sweetie also. his fc has changed a couple times but we settled on rami recently. ANYWHOMST. dilly does actually appear in the fic this is all sort of based around here (chapter 5!). we have an ever expanding group of aus so it Depends on which one ur talking abt. in the fic verse he's an angel named diligence that everyone calls dilly. hes one of the leaders of the virtues (which yes we know are just a class of angel but listen it's more fun to name them after the actual heavenly virtues). he ends up w belial eventually. hes got some commitment issues and reservations abt things but he loves belial a Whole Lot. the alternative to this is since this fic is a reverse au the "regular" version of him would be a demon (named laziness see it's the opposite of diligence) who's part of the Minor Sins (so not the 7 deadly sins). p much the same bc heaven and hell Are The Same in gomens but w the caveat that since he works under belial he sort of thinks he's a huge asshole for a while until he gets to know him and he's like oh shit I Love Him. in the human au we went w that version and he works for lucifer (ish) and helps belial manage things and turn it around post lucifer going to jail. in this verse he was orphaned pretty young by Terrible Parents but got adopted by a rlly nice lesbian couple who have a daughter (they're trans lesbians that run a tattoo shop and I do love them they're great).

then there's bilhah!! I love them they're baby. uuuh they're an azcrow kid lmao yes I know that's cringey. NO there's not any mpreg. it's god fucking around for the laughs. anyway. she goes by she/they and she's a good kid. not as much to say abt her bc we haven't talked abt her much. no fc! but they have big ass curls that are white/silver and is just an all around angel. mischievous little shit that gives her parents migraines but she can do No Wrong in aziraphales eyes (or demon aziraphale who we usually talk abt here, asmodeus).

AH i figured i’d finally get around to posting stuff for my FMA summoner au

ngl the FMA version of this au is a lot more fun than the JOJO one b/c i have a lot more hard rules i have to work around and that makes it more of a fun game

ANYWAY i feel like i had previously mentioned that two members of Team Mustang were summons (Mustang’s, naturally) but not the members you’d expected

things about summoning in this au in general:

-Summoning is an offshoot branch of Alchemy; the “price” payment is actually a form of the Equivalent Exchange rule. It is, weirdly enough, considered the “easier” and “more accessible” form of Alchemy, but b/c you’re literally bringing monsters into the world its looked down upon as lesser and reckless if not performed by Professionals (AKA anyone the State approves of)

-SOME Alchemists dabble in both Summoning and Alchemy, though most don’t (for example; Roy is still the Flame Alchemist, he just also happens to dabble in Summoning, because he’s extra like that*; Ed on the otherhand does not, because he thinks Summoning is a bit creepy, frankly, and is put off by most Summons in general) -It is absolutely illegal to have an Obligate Maneater Summon by order of the State (so no vampires, succubi, etc), and Potential Maneater Summons absolutely MUST be registered whether you are a Summoner working for the State or not, and are checked in on by a State appointed official once a month in order to prevent and discourage Incidents.                    -Summoning of an Obligate Maneater, if the State finds out, results                        in a 72 hour detainment period of interrogation to ensure that it was                      not a deliberate act, as such would be considered breaking the law                      and risk to the general public.

                   -It is rumored that despite this, some higher ups in the Military have                      Obligate Maneater Summons anyway, that are kept fed on                                    executed criminals. Such rumors are considered treasonous and                          are discouraged (but probably aren’t wrong).

-Maintaining a Summon that has a price that is ANY form of human component (”a human liver”, “a human eye”, etc) as a price is illegal, and if a Summon with such a price is not IMMEDIATELY disbanded, the Summoner is to be detained and interrogated. (Worth noting that, as in my other Summoner au, Prices are random- so this can be a crapshoot.)

-The Military allows Summons in it as functional and official members but they are typically (not always) low ranking, bond and not independent summons (again, not always), and ONLY approved species are allowed as Military Summons (of which I will compile a list at....some point but its long and I’m lazy).

-Military Summons are to maintain as human a form as possible AT ALL TIMES unless an emergency or combative situation calls for otherwise. In extremely rare instances where a Summon cannot be in their human form for an extended period of time, there are specific collars/bands/clips that are used to indicate their rank that they may wear.

-As with Alchemy vs Alkahestry, Xing has its own form of Summoning too. The Summoning is handled differently, with a predetermined Price being offered FIRST and seeing what Summon it will bring (so no surprise prices), and the bond b/t Summoner and Summon being viewed as more of a blessing or partnership. (IE along the lines of “this is your special magical friend who has been granted to you, respect them or you’re the worst”).

-This makes how Summoning in Amestris viewed as really, really weird, fucked up and backwards in Xing, with it being treated somewhat willy nilly, the Prices being largely random, and Summons relationships with their Summoners often (but not always! theres always variance in interpersonal relationships) being one of being something like a hired underling and boss making it both alien and really uncomfortable. 

-Ishvalans have their own view of Summoning and in general consider it the same way they regard Alchemy; sinful and kinda fucked up. But this isn’t a hard rule, as in canon.

ROYS SUMMONS SPECIFICALLY AAAREEE- Fuery and Falman!

Roy’s given reason for why he has two Summons (it’s weird for a professional State Alchemist to have one at all; Military Summons are typically under State Summoners. Whether the public considers State Alchemists or State Summoners worse varies from area to area.) is that he likes to show off; his ACTUAL reason is b/c he wanted as much of his team to be as loyal to him as possible, and figured a good way to do that would be comprising a decent hunk of that team with Summons of his own.

Falman is a Dragon- well, a type of dragon. His inhuman form is the top imagine. I left a series of notes about him under the image in my sketchbook that I’ll copy here:

His mane has been cropped short as per military standard.

His “arms” or secondary forelimbs are actually a modified pair of wings. They extremely deft and mobile. He can do very fine motor tasks with them, including do paperwork and dissemble/clean/reassemble a gun. He can also shoot a gun. Which is silly, but he can.

He is NOT big- no military-approved dragon is- he’s about the size of a small pony. Even in nonhuman form, he can move around an unmodified building without any issue at all.

He has kind of a weird, shambly gait that tends to make people assume that he’s either hurt or not very fast. Both of these assumptions are wrong and will bite you in the ass if you make them in a fight. (Not that Falman is one much disposed to fighting; even as a literal dragon he’s far from the toughest member of Mustang’s crew).

He CAN breathe fire-but only in very, very small sparks not much more than a lighter-flash. This is fine to him and doesn’t bother him in the least, its perfectly good for what it is. Roy will sometimes tease him that HE’s the better “dragon” b/c of his flame alchemy, something Falman laughs off good naturedly.

He once did a party trick for Havoc by putting a cigarette in his mouth and pulling it out perfectly lit and Havoc has never gotten over this and tries to get him to do it EVERY time Falman is around and Havoc needs a light.

The first time Ling meets him and learns that he’s a Dragon Summon, Ling gets really hype b/c typically if someone is talking about a dragon Summon in Xing, its a HUGE noble serpentine creature of myth and beauty and power, and is highly symbolic. When Falman denies that he’s that sort of dragon, Ling immediately deflates and comments that “of course, I forgot that Amestris for some reason considers strange little horse-lizards to be dragons.” It’s not really meant as a friendly comment, but again Falman isn’t bothered by it. He’s very secure in what he is. They still befriend eachother despite this, b/c they do like eachother and b/c Ling really likes Summons in general.

Fuery is a Mari Lwyd, for no reason other than I think it’s cute. He’s the bottom two much-less-serious doodles. Notes on him include:

Has no corporeal form outside of his head and just seems to be a floating sheet otherwise. (Doodle says: “Can’t give drunk Havoc pony rides : C”)

Despite this, his inhuman form seems to be decked out in radio equipment, always, anyway. How it stays there is anyone’s guess.

He still wears glasses in inhuman form, despite no visible eyes. He insists he still needs them in that form, and doesn’t like people taking them off, or trying to check and see if he just has really well hidden eyes.

Even in human form he’s absurdly lightweight; he doesn’t weigh anymore than like, a fruit basket. Don’t pick him up though! It’s rude and bullying! Breda and Havoc do so anyway.

He can also float in human form if he wants, but typically doesn’t b/c it gets him yelled at by superiors who aren’t in Mustang’s team. 

He CANNOT TALK OR VERBALIZE AT ALL in inhuman form; his go to form of communication like that is either pre-recorded statements he has on his equipment or (more often) for him to aggressively and rapidly clack his awful horse-skull jaws at you in morse code. 

When drunk, Havoc cannot seem to get over the fact that “Fuery is just.....do you every think about how just.....Fuery is just straight up a dead horse???? He’s a DEAD HORSE. Not even just a dead horse he’s a DEAD MARE. He’s somehow a DEAD GIRL HORSE he’s just a DEAD HORSE how is no one freaking out about how WEIRD that is-”. They are good friends nonetheless.

In general the fact that Roy is both a State Alchemist AND technically a State Summoner is considered very impressive, though in the military itself its not uncommon for people of all ranks to jeer and joke about how a man named Mustang ended up with two Summons that are Distinctly horsey. His office is sometimes derogatorily referred to as “the stable” because of it. He doesn’t tolerate this mocking and it’s led to fights in the past. 

People who don’t know which of Mustang’s underlings are Summons tend to assume that Hawkeye MUST be one of them, and is probably a Harpy. She is in fact completely human, and while she isn’t offended at the assumption she does find it maybe a bit annoying.

Yo can you talk about parallels b/w Lu and Tech???

Oh shit good one, uh

Okay so some groundwork: Lu is an achievement of mine in that she’s divorced from the pitfall of a habit I (still) have of making characters who are either overly humble or, in some way or another due to mental illness or just a lack of confidence, self depricating. She’s also one of a small number of extroverted muses I have, and just in general, a big step out of my comfort zone. (Which.. I mean Danger Days is really my comfort zone. It’s just so familiar and such a large part of like… if not my identity itself, how I came to be the person I am yknow?? So while I love all my characters there and I have been trying to branch out within it, the much bigger progress for me is to go outside of the setting.)

And all of that is to say - in a lot of ways that I could list for …paragraphs upon paragraphs, probably, they’re very different, and it’s very intentional that they are so different. But then again, either because everyone’s subject to “write what you know” or just my own common themes and elements as a creator/writer/whathaveyou, theres some things to track through and compare which actually not that long ago brought up some interesting thoughts for me regarding Lu and the limits of HER comfort zone.

To back off and go from a.. more of a formulaic perspective, like a few groundwork level similarities:

– central perspective/main character of their stories*– maternal heritage plays a significant role in their lives– Protective Older Brother™– adopted (albeit one literally and one symbollically) by family friend(s)– themes of tragedy/fate and (trying to) overcome it

– chaotic alignments lmao

They’re wild girls. I love them.

*I know Tech’s sorta in the aether of rp and therefore the fluidity inherently involved in plot less co-creation, but if I was to treat dustverse like a book (or to write her a fanfic which I am… considering) she’s absolutely my main protagonist. Call it self awareness: I know that no matter how many danger days characters I make or how much I love them or they interest me, Tech’s just my main girl. She’s got staying power.

So what that gets into is that.. the simplest way I could put it would be to say if I HADN’T decided to try to challenge my habit of falling back on giving characters weaknesses/flaws that I strongly relate to, Lu could have very easily ended up being.. effectively a modern AU Tech, really. She’s the tough spirit, the younger sister, the stuck-in-her-mothers-shadow kind of character who then endures tragedy and trauma and could have become another fearful and defensive sort of character, like Tech. So I guess their similarities come from.. sort of a natrative perspective, the general happenings of their lives, and it’s only when you consider their personalities, the way they handle what they’ve been given, and (!!) the strength of their support systems and whether or not it gave them a genuine sense of security and the space to recover, that it becomes them being such different characters.

Which..makes it sounds like they don’t have any personality similarities but I suppose there’s a few. Independence. Ingenuity. Empathy. And, well, they both certainly hate being told what to do.

And really though the thing about the fundamentals being similar despite the resulting characters being so different and actually being really REALLY … grating? competitive?? headspaces to try and occupy at the same time is that the similarities are actually what generate the disconnect (as ass backwards as that sounds.) Having Lu, in a metaphysical sense, close to someone like Tech draws attention to how… easily (?) her life could have gone down a similar if not identical path that would have fundamentally altered/influenced her values and beliefs and forces her to confront the arguable malleability of her actual existence and … to be frank it scares the shit out of her. This turned out to be a really revealing thing too because I’ve always known Lu has great pride in herself and her characteristics but it had never occurred to me before thinking on that that the concept of how easily she could have been very different is such. a. threat. Lu could have, in a version of events where her brother wasn’t as self sure or her mother’s softness was a lie and not just a well kept secret or the family friend who looked out for her wasn’t so well connected, been bent and beaten and burned into someone suspicious and confused and lost. And it kinda almost sounds like… uncomfortable about cofronting her privilege when I get it down on paper (er, in text) like that, but it’s not. I swear it’s not. Lu knows she’s had a inmmeasurable amount of assistance to her success just being raised as she was and she’s constantly trying to check that and do what she can to share what random chance gave her and .. really actually welcomes being called out her Trust Fund Kid status most of the time — it’s not about being uncomfortable with the concept of having had less or being called out as being, essentially, lucky, it’s the thought that something like that, whether you call it luck or fate, could do something as powerful as alter her fundamental, core beliefs, when she has spent all her life trying to escape the very concept of it.

And… I realize… I strayed off but ultimately it comes down to: they’re not especially similar except when you consider them both in the sphere of possibilty. Their luck and lack of it made them different, and different they are, but if Fate (…. me? am I the Fate at work here???) had felt urged by a different whim, they COULD HAVE been very, very similar.

gonna ramble a lil bit abt loz au stuff so uhhhh

okokokokok. i cant go tooooo indepth abt bellum atm (iykyk) but im gonna. talk abt linebeck stuff specifically within au stuff bc hes fun to play with in aus esp since i hold the belief that he would be a bit different in aus on account of them tending to be very drastically different from canon. ofc the au set in space with hi tech and space travel and his backstory being that [REDACTED]. dw abt the space au idk if ill even get around to spilling the beans on that one any time soon lmao

like ok i have a whole bunch of aus and linebeck teeeends to play a major role in a lot of those aus bc Of Course and bc i think hes interesting

anyways heres the list of aus (took me ages to find this in my archive) but like. it is fun to experiment and be like ok how would this character act in work in x setting with y circumstances and z goals. theres a lil bit of nudging/shoving out of character w/ linebeck in some of these that im trying to wrangle back under control while keeping the story intact while some are fine cuz its like. vastly difference circumstances understandable. gotta keep some staples the same tho

like… without spoiling too much about any of these, crimson king au linebeck is like… hes similar to canon personality wise, if a bit more ruthless, while space au linebeck is just. Out There with some of that same greed and jumpiness, gimmick au linebeck is very much the same but with loftier ambitions and more of a willingness to risk getting hurt for something, in the modern au(s) hes going to be a bit different due to. well. technology going through full schooling meeting different people.

a lot of the fun differences are best expressed through how he fights or what kinds of conflicts he comes into contact with, and i usually try to think to myself how canon linebeck might prefer to fight and then somewhat sticking to that idea while branching out to fit circumstances and setting. crimson king au has him using a pair of knives and fighting in a style that keeps him dodging and moving quickly and aiming to dispatch as quickly as possible. space au linebeck is first and foremost a sniper, with some ‘fights like a cornered animal’ flavoring tossed in. gimmick au linebeck has to learn to fight, but fights dirty and takes every advantage and cheat he can find.

its fun to tinker with his relationships with returning characters too. i have a lot of wiggle room with his relationship with bellum, but i always like to root it in the idea that bellum finds him interesting and ends up being some form of beneficiary due to circumstances. it’s interesting with link, too, they’re usually close or grow to be close, kind of sticking with the idea that they make a good team, in the crimson king au theyre adoptive brothers, in space au theres a sort of (one-sided) rivalry going on, gimmick au is uh… complicated so its fun, in a few aus like the modern or… one of the ruined hyrules they only know each other in passing, and in some theyve never met before. other characters that are fun to play with are zelda, ranging from being enemies to close friends, ganondorf, extremes being an au literally centered around ganonbeck and then an au where they are enemies in a sense, midna is fun to play with, so is ghirahim, it’s fun to see how his relationship with other characters can be taken in different aus

the different designs are also a lot of fun, but theres not a ton i can say here (some aus hes pretty much the same as canon, but a few have him with alternate designs, or both. his space au design is prob my favorite lol. that au is fun)

a few times i have to forcibly put him in a background spot or smth so i cant constantly focus on him while hes still important (murder mystery au is a good example, hes important but not generally to the larger plot, hes kinda just a character who ends up somewhat helping in investigation, other examples being the amnesia link au where hes [REDACTED] and therefore not present for like. half of the story, or the gimmick au, where he has his own stuff to do apart from link and co, or the general modern one, where that one is generally meant to have a larger cast so i. just cant focus on him lol)

How do you focus on writing your fics? I feel like whenever I start to write my head goes about 200 directions at once and it's super disorienting...

So this is my process, and by no means should you try to replicate it for yourself, but its the guideline i follow after a few years of writing and actually posting fics. 

write down all your ideas. it does not matter what order they appear in, all you have to do is write them all down. my head works in a pretty logical way, so most of the stuff that crawls its way into my head is roughly in chronological order.

plot, plot, plot, plot. create a timeline and for the love of god, at least try to stick to it. its ok to branch off and go a different direction from time to time, but the plot line you set out for yourself should include a lot of what you already have written down for your story. it will save you in the long run.

always keep a notebook handy. I keep two small ones in my bag at all times: one specifically for ruins and another for all the other random stuff i come up with throughout the day. if you can, whip out your notebook whenever you have an idea and jot down the basics of it, or enough so your mind knows where youre going with it. it always sucks to have an idea only to lose it as soon as you have the chance to get back to your computer again.

I also highly suggest getting google docs on your phone or using the notes feature on it, in case you dont have a notebook

find a buddy to scream with. i have a large pool of people that i just scream at about fics and sometimes they can help get rid of the plotholes that you didnt even see when you first come up with the idea. like ruins and the klance bb fic im working on with @soltserra have really tight plotlines and if anyone finds plotholes, wow kudos to them. (and it was also soltserra who heled me plot out ruins to begin with. and theres a shit ton of other ideas she has too, like more than me. Au factory im telling you)

the actual writing part. this is a doozy. i honestly cant tell you how to make sure your head stays on one track, but the way i do it is writing down the major plot points for the chapter im working on and just go. plug in music, find music that fits the fic, make a playlist and just run with it. like surprise, half the time im writing, i have no fucking clue what im doing and what happens, happens.

dont force something to happen. if its not working, dont write yourself into a corner and try to find a way out. its perfectly ok to cut pieces out and just start the scene over. i do it all the time.

if you havent already, try writing exercises like sprinting and free writing to get the creative juices flowing. i was really adverse to sprinting at first, but when i tried a couple of times, it was amazing how fast i was able to crank out chapters. most of ruins is written on sprints, and the entirety of Displaced is sprinting. And its all about getting words on the page. progress is progress.

lets say you actually finish something. awesome! you did it! but now you gotta go back and edit it. -groans for eternity- this is kind of a proven fact, but change the font and the font size and get to editing. youll be amazed at how you can suddenly see all your mistakes and places that could use more detail here an there.

also, grammarly really helps with catching the major grammar mistakes and is an awesome extension to have on your browser. it works on almost everything. Google docs and stuff, unfortunately, dont support it, but if you wirte using word or an open office word processor, you can upload the files and edit there.

GET A BETA they will literally keep you on track throughout the fic. i have a bad habit of posting right after im done editing in the first round and not going through a beta before posting. trust me, it will save you lives. plus you make a pretty good friend if you do, and they double as your scream and scheme buddy most of the time :D
