I can’t remember all the points in the story but I know at one point Wei WuXian was out when he came across Jin Ling’s dog Fairy that had fallen in a trap set up by other Jin Sect members who liked to bully and pick on Jin Ling. Fairy’s hurt and Wei WuXian gets down into the trap too. Fairy makes the situation easier for Wei WuXian by not making sudden movements. Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling, who are out looking for Fairy, are led by Wei WuXian’s paper man to where Fairy fell. Then Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian lift Fairy out of the trap together. 6. Hi! I’ve discovered so many lovely fics through this blog, I really appreciate it! I was hoping you all could help me find a fanfic that I’ve been having trouble locating.

After the Qiongqi prison camp break out, LWJ finds WWX and the Wens on the road, and takes them to Gusu. Most of the Wen are hidden in Caiyi town, bc the citizens of Caiyi town love and trust their Second Jade of Lan and are willing to take in and shelter people at his request. Wen Qing is hidden in the women’s portion of Cloud Recesses. WWX may have been in the Jingshi with LWJ? They exist there, quite peaceably for weeks, with no issues, I think?

Meanwhile, Lanling Jin has put about the WWX and his escaped Wen cultivators have been roaming around the countryside attacking villages with, uh, probably actually attacked villages and deaths to back that story up. LXC has been in Lanling this entire time, I don’t recall what he was doing. On his return to Cloud Recesses, he discovers that WWX and Co have been comfortably ensconced there since the breakout and couldn’t have committed any of the attacks the Jin have blamed on them.

Aaand, that’s about what I remember. I’d really appreciate any suggestions anyone thinks might be it or similar fics. thank you!

I wanted to know if you could try and find me the fic where: Wei WuXian is kept captive in the Wen Sect. I think it was like a huge tower or something, I don't think he was ever adopted by Jiang (I think he was and dissappeard). Lan Wangji gets held captive and thrown in the cell of Wei WuXian and they bond even though Wei WuXian gets tortured more the Lan Zhan.

I remember Wei WuXian being a Phoenix (I think) and he always looks up at the sky wanting to be free. Eventually he manages to break Lan Zhan out of the prison and Lan Zhan comes back with back up and swords blazing but Wei WuXian already unleashed his Phoenix powers.

The Jiang hadn’t separated by gender so he was used to working alongside women, but the Lan women were a little disturbed by his presence at first. But Wei Wuxian eventually was accepted by them and he started helping out with their tasks, making talismans and the like, and the women really supported him. LWJ was essentially kidnapped at a young age by the Wens and then “trained” to kill whoever they told him to. He escapes them and stumbles upon WWX. WWX runs a music shop, Wen Ning is very involved, Wen Yuan is a little kid and cared for by WWX. WWX assumes LWJ is just homeless and had a very bad life, ends up taking him in and helping him. LZ experiment sets new record in search for dark matter

New results from the world’s most sensitive dark matter detector put the best-ever limits on particles called WIMPs, a leading candidate for what makes up our universe’s invisible mass.

Figuring out the nature of dark matter, the invisible substance that makes up most of the mass in our universe, is one of the greatest puzzles in physics. New results from the world’s most sensitive dark matter detector, LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ), have narrowed down possibilities for one of the leading dark matter candidates: weakly interacting massive particles, or WIMPs.

LZ, led by the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), hunts for dark matter from a cavern nearly one mile underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota. The experiment’s new results explore weaker dark matter interactions than ever searched before and further limit what WIMPs could be.

“These are new world-leading constraints by a sizable margin on dark matter and WIMPs,” said Chamkaur Ghag, spokesperson for LZ and a professor at University College London (UCL). He noted that the detector and analysis techniques are performing even better than the collaboration expected. “If WIMPs had been within the region we searched, we’d have been able to robustly say something about them. We know we have the sensitivity and tools to see whether they’re there as we search lower energies and accrue the bulk of this experiment’s lifetime.”

The collaboration found no evidence of WIMPs above a mass of 9 gigaelectronvolts/c2 (GeV/c2). (For comparison, the mass of a proton is slightly less than 1 GeV/c2.) The experiment's sensitivity to faint interactions helps researchers reject potential WIMP dark matter models that don't fit the data, leaving significantly fewer places for WIMPs to hide. The new results were presented at two physics conferences on August 26: TeV Particle Astrophysics 2024 in Chicago, Illinois, and LIDINE 2024 in São Paulo, Brazil. A scientific paper will be published in the coming weeks.

The results analyze 280 days’ worth of data: a new set of 220 days (collected between March 2023 and April 2024) combined with 60 earlier days from LZ’s first run. The experiment plans to collect 1,000 days’ worth of data before it ends in 2028. 

“If you think of the search for dark matter like looking for buried treasure, we’ve dug almost five times deeper than anyone else has in the past,” said Scott Kravitz, LZ’s deputy physics coordinator and a professor at the University of Texas at Austin. “That’s something you don’t do with a million shovels – you do it by inventing a new tool.”

LZ’s sensitivity comes from the myriad ways the detector can reduce backgrounds, the false signals that can impersonate or hide a dark matter interaction. Deep underground, the detector is shielded from cosmic rays coming from space. To reduce natural radiation from everyday objects, LZ was built from thousands of ultraclean, low-radiation parts. The detector is built like an onion, with each layer either blocking outside radiation or tracking particle interactions to rule out dark matter mimics. And sophisticated new analysis techniques help rule out background interactions, particularly those from the most common culprit: radon.

This result is also the first time that LZ has applied “salting” – a technique that adds fake WIMP signals during data collection. By camouflaging the real data until “unsalting” at the very end, researchers can avoid unconscious bias and keep from overly interpreting or changing their analysis.

“We’re pushing the boundary into a regime where people have not looked for dark matter before,” said Scott Haselschwardt, the LZ physics coordinator and a recent Chamberlain Fellow at Berkeley Lab who is now an assistant professor at the University of Michigan. “There’s a human tendency to want to see patterns in data, so it’s really important when you enter this new regime that no bias wanders in. If you make a discovery, you want to get it right.” 

Dark matter, so named because it does not emit, reflect, or absorb light, is estimated to make up 85% of the mass in the universe but has never been directly detected, though it has left its fingerprints on multiple astronomical observations. We wouldn’t exist without this mysterious yet fundamental piece of the universe; dark matter’s mass contributes to the gravitational attraction that helps galaxies form and stay together. 

LZ uses 10 tonnes of liquid xenon to provide a dense, transparent material for dark matter particles to potentially bump into. The hope is for a WIMP to knock into a xenon nucleus, causing it to move, much like a hit from a cue ball in a game of pool. By collecting the light and electrons emitted during interactions, LZ captures potential WIMP signals alongside other data. 

“We’ve demonstrated how strong we are as a WIMP search machine, and we’re going to keep running and getting even better – but there’s lots of other things we can do with this detector,” said Amy Cottle, lead on the WIMP search effort and an assistant professor at UCL. “The next stage is using these data to look at other interesting and rare physics processes, like rare decays of xenon atoms, neutrinoless double beta decay, boron-8 neutrinos from the sun, and other beyond-the-Standard-Model physics. And this is in addition to probing some of the most interesting and previously inaccessible dark matter models from the last 20 years.”

LZ is a collaboration of roughly 250 scientists from 38 institutions in the United States, United Kingdom, Portugal, Switzerland, South Korea, and Australia; much of the work building, operating, and analyzing the record-setting experiment is done by early career researchers. The collaboration is already looking forward to analyzing the next data set and using new analysis tricks to look for even lower-mass dark matter. Scientists are also thinking through potential upgrades to further improve LZ, and planning for a next-generation dark matter detector called XLZD.

“Our ability to search for dark matter is improving at a rate faster than Moore’s Law,” Kravitz said. “If you look at an exponential curve, everything before now is nothing. Just wait until you see what comes next.”

Hey Yazzy! I just wanted to mention and ask something, as a black woman talking to another black woman. There's this misinformation online that Elvis and British Invasion bands "stole" black music and "didn't credit" them. Here's an example of someone believing that:

There are other bad faith takes I've seen online, especially Twitter, and some Quora answers that are ignorant, I'm just sharing one. This is designed to slander the bands they mentioned.

The thing is.... most of the people who get accused of basically cultural appropriation have almost all acknowledged the original artists at some point, and they are very open when they talk about blues and jazz influences. And for every black person who makes an accusation, which people blindly believe because "of course black people can't be wrong", they're often very dubious or dumb lawsuits anyway, and many black celebrities loved these people. Elvis? He was open about his influence, and he grew up around black people and hung out with them. Then some fools decided he was a racist. In fact many parents who criticized him were not criticizing him being inappropriate, but "too black for comfort". Seriously. The Stones were popular with black people, Tina Turner loved the Stones. Paul McCartney wrote Blackbird as a metaphor for the race riots in America, the Beatles famously refused to play in segregated spots, the peace and love. Nothing was racist about the Beatles, how do you look at that and still think "Beatles are cultural appropriators and hate black people"?. The only questionable rock star from the top of my head was Eric Clapton because of his (albeit drunken but still) rant about how black people don't belong in Europe. Almost all these people played at the HEAVILY BLACK Woodstock, surrounded by black people. Very few musicians actually took advantage of black people. I'm sick of seeing anti-(insert rock star here) propaganda when they should be blaming radio stations for not playing the originals, but instead they blame the bands. Elvis and the British Invasion were not an attempt to "whitewash" or "butcher" black music, if anything they brought it into popularity and often these musicians would use their music to ADVOCATE for black people. By this logic, Kpop should be cancelled for "stealing" western American music without credit.

Sorry about this rant but I needed to get this off my chest. It's so easy to find racism accusations thrown at bands... when if anyone is the problem, the band is the LEAST of the problems, as said bands always turn out to be allies of black people and have a huge black following. Beatles? Black friendly. Who? Black friendly. Kinks? Black friendly. Stones? Black friendly. Animals? Black friendly. LZ? Black friendly. The Stairway to Heaven case was absolutely ridiculous. None of these people did anything wrong. None of these people are racist

It stabbed straight through him, cracking open the reservoir of loss and helplessness that was all his own. His child’s grief did that, sometimes. It always took him by surprise. He caught his breath sharply and gathered A-Yuan into his arms, holding him tight until the pain ebbed.

“I will try,” he said softly into A-Yuan’s hair, when he could speak again. He never made uncertain promises and tried not even to raise uncertain hopes, but his son was hurting. His son believed he could make it better. He couldn’t not try.

Wen Qing might at least know who this “Xian-gege” was. He would text her in the morning. It would be a start.

About me: I'm white and can only speak English, so while I’ve read some analysis and done some research, I know my perspective is limited and I apologize in advance for any mistakes or misinterpretations.

I'm primarily a cql fan, though I did enjoy the donghua. I read the ExR novel translation several years ago and I have a complicated relationship with it, enjoying the explicit character development, humor, worldbuilding, originality, and some romantic scenes, while disliking how homophobia and sexual assault are handled as well as some structural elements. I have no familiarity with the audio drama or mdzs q show. I like tgcf, but the fics here are only for cql/mdzs.

About the fics: Any version of canon, though I prefer cql characterizations. Mostly wangxian, with a handful of other background relationships and some character studies. My favorite characters are wwx, lwj, jyl, wen ning, and jin ling, but lwj has a very special place in my heart. I enjoy jc as a character but find it hard to find fics that write him in a way I agree with. I prefer shorter works.

18. Hello! I'm looking for a complete fic on AO3 where Qin Su did the sacrifice ritual to bring back Wei Wuxian. He is now a woman. She left him a letter explaining why/what she wanted, and he has to keep up the act of being Qin Su for a little while until he can come up with an excuse to get out of Koi tower.

I don't remember what he was running around doing once he got out, but along the way he bumped into Lan Wangji, who is travelling with "Mo Xuanyu" investigating the demonic arm.Mo Xuanyu actually summoned Jin Zixuan using the ritual, though I don't remember if that was on purpose or if JZX was just the next best target with WWX already summoned. Because of Qin Su's letter to WWX (? They knew somehow), JZX knows that WWX is technically his sister now.

I don't remember much else apart from some minor stiff arguing on JZX end because LWJ is seducing his technical sister or something like that. He's not impressed/pleased. WWX is just as happy about being related to the peacock now. LWJ realises he is WWX-sexual. Yadda yadda.

Based on other fics I know I read around the same time, the publication/final update should be no later than 2022, but I might be wrong.

so ive built mic pre’s with just about every Nashville related sound that is near to me, and there’s one for every decade!

50’s/early 60’s: RCA style tube pre (I really got Daven pots/attenuators, and RCA/Western Electric/Audio Dev Corp transformers — a small fortune in vintage parts to cobble together this fall!)

late 60’s: Melcor AML-27’s (sometimes sold branded RCA; Ge DOAs and MEC iron transformers)

70’s: API 2098 console pre’s as line booster cage cards (this is what Sal modded that is in operation at RCA studio B since it became the museum; Si DOAs and Jensen Ni-Steel transformers)

80’s: Valley People MP-1000 mic pres (these were made in Nashville but no close connection to me or my Nashville recording roots, but they were designed by Paul C. Buff, they’re transformerless, IC-based ‘hybrid’ op amps called the TransAmp #LZ, short for transimpedance amplifier and also

🏳️‍⚧️)… ooh i also got the 1980’s TOA RX-216 console from The Bennet House Studio when it became a BnB, it wasnt their main console, it probably mixed cue sends or was just used for its analog effects section but it has Japanese made transformers an NE5332 ICs all over it and sounds so lo-fi! It’s a fixer upper ;) maybe with ICs swapped for faster ones it will sound like a cheeseburger in paradise

90’s: if there’s a Nashville sound of the 90’s then it is probably something i dont want like a soundcraft plugged to a Digi888 interface

00’s: kinda the same as the 90’s, but all the really good sounds were the 70’s stuff in studios here anyway if they were buying/keeping/trashing gear based on what it actually sounds like and not marketing hype so… idk it’s probably an OctoPre into a Digi IO102 interface? nothing i have

2010’s: Miktek MPA-201, another made in Nashville special to me that I use for everything, it’s really a revisitation of the Neve 1073 preamp section. more 70’s stuff! (Si single class A big footprint can transistor, and AMI transformers with some awesome Ni-Steel and secret sauce alloys)

I never got monster hunter rise because I usually only play Xbox. But I recently got a switch, I got the demo for rise but Im not sure how I feel about the controls lol is it worth it getting the full game?

I think base Rise wasn’t that good, some weird choices in terms of how the game progressed and the fact most hunts were a bit too easy, the wirebug is broken if you learn to use it well (never get hit)

Maybe I’m being snobby because World/Iceborne was just that incredible to me but the lack of hand holding and longer fights felt so much more rewarding when you finally beat the wall of a monster hindering your progress

That said despite my negative thoughts — I did enjoy Rise I really had fun and whilst it took a while to learn the controls its pretty fun zooming around monsters, with the bug all weapons can become aerial — something I enjoyed alot, I’m so spoiled now whenever I go back to World get knocked on my ass and wish I had the bug recovery skill 😂

now Sunbreak is out I’ve only heard good things about the DLC which basically smooths out what the base game lacked (more monsters more locales n quests), so I think if you’re looking for a beginners MH game this is it, but when Master rank starts its pretty punishing

Pros: all weapons become pretty accessible due to wire bug, great weapon/armor designs and music (hehehfh just a quality of life thing), palamutes!!! Doggos are the best addition i adore my palamutes so much, rampages: i know this is controversial but lorewise and epicness Rampages are so fucking cool youre there nyooming between monsters kicking ass its just really cool, there feels like the rise universe has more life to it? I actually care abt some of the characters bc they help you out (main reason I made my MH au its very cuteee)

Cons: too easy? Anyone can breeze through the game without needing to farm much, so if you dont like the grind this is ok, the maps…? Idk something about the maps feels eh but theyre not a big deal problem for me and the arena fights are cool

Bonus Con: You must at all costs learn how to use the wirebug because theres a couple fights where you have to use all the skills with it and that kinda made me panic because muscle memory and using a controller isn’t easy for me, I scraped through and O still can’t really get that fight so I just escape before the big attacks akfhfje

Sorry this was really long I think, personally I recommend to buy it on sale if youre not sure? Idk when that would happen though, but if you’re looking to try out a more dynamic fresh approach to monster hunter this is it

I would rate base game 7/10 haven’t started Sunbreak yet so maybe this will change
