I wanted a floppy zebra more than anything on this earth, but when I disturbed them a plume of tiny flies shot into the air, so, begrudgingly, I decided not to get one. Although I do want to stress that it was still a close-run thing.

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SUMMER JOB(EVEN FOR MINORS)
๋࣭ ⋆。 °✩
Some people are getting ready for their next exams and others are seeing an end to their summer, but it still has to finish, and you might want to make some side cash to support yourself! So here's a list of some summer jobs that you can do!
If you lost it here's a list of jobs you can do even as a minor under 17 yo
୨୧Cashier୨୧
On summer more people go to vacation and there's always a need for more workers, on market there should be fresh hair and you might like to chat also with your coworkers, I know that LIDL pays you a lot of you just work for 8 hours on Sunday, which is great for students or people who are not searching for that career type of job, plus you can gain WORKER DISCOUNTS if you work in certain shops.
୨୧Lifeguard୨୧
If you know how to swim and tend to be really attentive, this is a job for you, a lot of people stay at the pool or at the beach
୨୧House cleaner୨୧
Some people go to vacation and still want to keep their house clean, an agency might hire down to 15/16 yo! It would be better if you knew someone inside that can help you get you in!
୨୧Travel sitter / babysitter in hotel୨୧
Dream summer job for real! You basically travel with the family or watch the kids while the parents are off! It's so cool cause most of the times the people doing this are richer or higher up in society! To get a job like this try
୨୧Cart girl୨୧
I saw how this just became a trend, is not available in all countries(mine for example), but it's a great way to pass the day, and it's really nice if you want to have some conversations or network a bit
୨୧Barista୨୧
I know sometimes they ask for a degree, bit it's not for all of them, it can be a funny job, and the ideal if you like drinks and mixing
୨୧Bottle girl୨୧
This is actually a fun job, but you still need to stay safe, this is not for minors and the age really changes, from country to country and from state to state. Just like the barista you will serve clients, but you also have entertain them, it can become sketchy pretty quick which is why you need to be sure, especially because it's mostly a night job
୨୧Model୨୧
This is harder to obtain, but it's really worthy, there are a lot of podcast that explain you the 101 regarding the modeling world and how to start!
୨୧Tutor୨୧
You have a subject you're really good at? teach it to little kids or people of your age, if you're really good woth technology you can teach it to older people for a resonable price!
୨୧Amusement park୨୧
This is also fun! I would avoid working for the main attractions(as you need to be more responsibl), it's better to focus on simpler not so main attraction stuff like stands etc...
୨୧day camp conselour୨୧
This is really easy you don't need much of experience and you might end up having fun while playing with kids!
୨୧summer intern ship୨୧
This is great if you want to dedicate some time to your studies or understand what you want to do on the future, you do something you're interested into and love, plus you get paid for it? That's great!
Hola bonitas, this is a very late post that I'm publishing really late, but you know, summer still has to fully end! Soo if you still want to make some cash during this season then, this is the post for you, you might want to save it for the next year too! I hope I helped and stay pretty gorgeous
Xoxo

Tour de France Femmes begins Monday!
After the long pause from the 2024 Paris Olympics (which has been pretty great, tbh) we finally begin the Tour de France Femmes on Monday, August 12!
We're looking at eight stages, with the riders rolling out from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where they will spend most of three days on 2.5 stages around Rotterdam. We say 2.5 stages, because Tuesday features two different stages, a short sprint stage and then an evening time trial. We don't know how we feel about these types of stages, but at least it will showcase different riders' talents.
Stage 4 on Wednesday will see the riders cross into Belgium and travel parts of the routes for Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege, including the famous hills like the Cauberg and the Cote de la Roche-aux-Faucons. And then finally, on Thursday, the Tour de France actually reaches France, and we will see increasingly mountainous stages that should determine the general classification, including finales on Le Grand-Bornand and the infamous Alp d'Huez.
As for GC, the odds-on favorite has to be defending TdFF champ Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime), who as we have said this year, is the best climber and stage-racer in the world right now. Cycling News has a great run-down for the other challengers, however, which we recommend.
It will be interesting to see how other strong teams like Canyon-SRAM and Lidl-Trek can put SD Worx under pressure. We've seen that in the Tour de Suisse and it can be done, but frankly, Vollering is so dominant right now that she might still win even if she's isolated on half the stages. She is just that good. Keep an eye on riders like Neve Bradbury (Canyon-SRAM) or Evita Muzic (FDJ-Suez) as possible spoilers, and definitely contenders for the podium.
We honestly don't know how the fight for the points jersey will go, and we're excited to see how that plays out across the stages. Defending green jersey wearer Marianne Vos (Visma Lease-a-Bike) will want to repeat, but she'll have some serious competition from Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime), who is still the fastest pure sprinter in the world and has shown she can get over the hills remarkably well. We'd love to see Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) back to winning ways after being off the bike due to injury.
We are less optimistic about the competition for the polka-dot jersey, and think it will likely be swept up by the GC winner. But that isn't always the case, like in the Giro this year, and we'd love to see some breakaway action and a non-GC rider try to hold onto that jersey.
We also expect several teams to hunt stages and keep several of the stages entertaining. EF-Oatly-Cannondale has been on a rampage this year, scooping up stages in the Vuelta Feminina and the Giro d'Italia Women, and they have the firepower to do it again with Alison Jackson, Kim Cadzow, Clara Emond, or Kristen Faulkner. Another team to watch is AG Insurance-Soudal, which has options in Tour Down Under champ Sarah Gigante, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, and Giro mountains classification winner Justine Ghekiere.
And finally, we expect to be surprised! We'd love to see a new talent announce herself on the biggest stage of the season, that's part of what we love about bike racing. This year's course is less likely to be an SD Worx show like last year (5 out of 8 stages), particularly with Lotte Kopecky not on the start list, so we are looking forward to some surprise moves and performances that will keep the racing interesting all the way to the top of Alp d'Huez!

One thing I love about living in a relatively secular-to-moderate catholic area is that a lot of people here still have their little saints and talismans inside their cars. Either because they do believe in them or because they got them with their first car from a parent or grandparents.
I just really enjoy the continuity of it, the same saint who once looked after lone travellers on their dangerous journey through the dark forest, protecting their horses from sickness, their rider from robbers and their journey from mishap now looking after a Fiat 500 driving to the next Lidl and making sure the antenna doesn't snap off in the car-wash. It's just...there is love in that, you know?

I mean, I have to ask about Dorothy, Blanche and Rose for that names/number game 😅 as for the numbers, I’ll go for 5 and 6!
Yay, thanks for the ask! OK here we go!
5. go on a six hour road trip with (no car radio, you choose who drives), sit next to on a six hour plane flight, sit across from on a six hour train journey
I hate travelling so this is hard. Like I literally take 3 ear options (wireless earbuds, wired earbuds and loop earplugs) just to keep me calm and not overwhelmed. I've only flown twice, but I do love a wee train trip...as long as I have something in my ears.
OK, Dorothy and I in the car. I can't drive so she would have to do that. I think that would work out OK. We could probably sing show tunes or analyse a good poet together. (I'd be raving about Carol Ann Duffy, let's be honest).
There is no way you could get me in an airport. Even in a hypothetical, I just wouldn't go near an airport. So, I guess private plane with Blanche. She comes from old money, right? That could work. She could afford that.
Rose and I are on the train but also I would be in my own world. Probably writing or reading. At some point she'd ask about my tangle fidget and I'd reluctantly speak with her because she's got a kind face.
6. go clothes shopping with, go to ikea with, go grocery shopping with
Dorothy and I are going clothes shopping together. That's easy, I think we have the most comparable styles.
Blanche and I would go to Ikea. I've only been twice but I think Rose would get too distracted then again it does have a lot of mirrors so maybe not perfect.
Rose and I would go grocery shopping instead. In this hypothetical, I'm taking her to Lidl and showing her the bakery section and the middle aisle because I think she'd love to be able to buy cheesecake brownies and then also a painting set.
#im sorry if the first one is too literal but also the hypothetical has to have me in it#and i would rather spend big money to take a train than go to an airport#thankfully the uk is small so thats a viable option#this was fun to think about#the golden girls#dorothy zbornak#blanche devereaux#rose nylund#fmk but pg

So
I got up a little later than I intended, 15 mins but that’s okay
Showered, grabbed my coffee, I intended to walk so that I could grab breakfast on the way since there’s nothing breakfast-y at home
But
Hmm 15 minutes late pulls back on my time
And then
I get an email *now* from my boss about what I need to cover for this term with the KS3 girls
Now I do
The morning of the first day
That floored me and I was then 20 minutes late and I haven’t the cushion to grab breakfast so, I’m taking the bus I’ll walk home Insha’Allah but bus so I can stop at Lidl and grab food (yes Lidl I’m that broke)
I need a slight cushion to also prep for this new lesson series that again. I’m only learning of just now.
Really I should have left with everyone else this morning but I hadn’t slept enough and I needed breakfast
*sighs* it’s fine I’m adapting I’m getting things done
Oh and I’d better ask my mum to just transfer travel money to my oyster to separate it from my card, makes it easier to keep track also I think.

Lidl Chocolate Doughnut
We're back again so soon after the last review. This doughnut was bought as a fun treat to top off a nice day, which makes a first for this review blog! I had just enjoyed my first Nando's in about five years with some friends we were visiting. It is their favourite restaurant and we love that for them.
Where from?
This doughnut was picked up from the Lidl bakery in the UK. Lidl is renowned for its bakery. They have a seeded loaf that I would probably kill for. But we're here to talk about doughnuts. Full disclosure: I did not eat this doughnut on the day of purchase. This doughnut was eaten for breakfast the following day because I was offered a pastel de nata and it would have been criminal to say no.
Initial Thoughts
It is sometimes difficult to parse my initial thoughts. I was a bit food drunk when I bought this doughnut and would have been in awe of very little. But I distinctly remember just being a bit chuffed that there was a doughnut left for me. It looks unassuming and yummy. Forgive my photo which was taken after travel in my handbag. The cracked topping shouldn't colour your opinion.
The Bread
Now let me tell you. I bit into this doughnut and had to take a minute to recover. The bread so so perfectly smooth and soft. It was like biting into brioche, though not as buttery. You can see in the photo that the dough is slightly underproofed. But not so much as to impact the flavour and texture of the bite.
The Topping
The topping had just enough sweetness and chocolateyness for its presence to be made. It did taste like the doughnut had been dipped in perfectly tempered chocolate, rather than some approximation of chocolate flavoured sauce. It had just enough of a snap to it before it melted in your mouth. It wasn't chocolate with a doughnut (as you might see with loaded doughnuts), but the perfect balance of doughnut with chocolate.
Final Verdict
These are the best doughnuts I've reviewed on this blog so far. If you're near a Lidl right now, go in and get one! They are completely delicious.
Do you have any doughnut suggestions, questions or ideas? Reply to this post! And you can support by sending a gift card to your favourite doughnut shop using this email: doughnutdaily.blog [at] gmail [dot] com (UK based only at this point, thank you!)

A baby whose body was found in a shed spent much of her life being carried in a Lidl "bag for life" while her parents lived "off-grid", a court has heard.
Constance Marten, 36, and Mark Gordon, 49, are on trial for the manslaughter of newborn Victoria, whose body was discovered in March 2023 after a weeks-long search for the family.
Prosecutors said the baby would still be alive if it were not for the "reckless" behaviour of the defendants.
The pair deny the charges.
Outlining the case against the defendants, prosecutor Tom Little KC told jurors the couple previously had four other children, all of whom had been taken into care after extensive involvement from social services.
He said the couple "essentially went off-grid" and lived outside to avoid social services removing their new baby, concealing the pregnancy from family and the health service.
The Old Bailey heard that only the defendants knew the precise date the baby was born, but the prosecution said she appeared to have been born after 28 December 2022.
On 5 January, a car the family had allegedly been travelling in was discovered on fire on a road in Greater Manchester. When it was searched a placenta wrapped in a towel was found inside.
The couple had left before police arrived and a high-risk missing persons inquiry was launched.
Two days later, Mr Little KC told jurors they dumped a buggy in London and "the child was transferred and carried in a Lidl 'bag for life' where it would appear it spent much of its life before it died".
Jurors were told the couple lived in a tent alongside their baby in "freezing and obviously dangerous conditions" - conditions which prosecutors allege ultimately led to her death.
Mr Little KC told jurors Ms Marten and Mr Gordon spent hundreds of pounds on taxi journeys while classed as missing people rather than putting it towards a "roof over their heads and warmth and safety".
He said that by the middle of February 2023 they had been "living rough for over a month", sometimes in "freezing cold, windy and wet" weather, and at one stage the couple were scavenging for food from from bins.
The jury was told Ms Marten - who was not in court to hear the prosecution's opening - did not have a "deprived upbringing" and had "potential access to the money and whatever help she needed".
There was a sighting of Victoria as late as 19 February but the baby was not with Ms Marten and Mr Gordon when they were arrested on 27 February. When officers detained the couple, Ms Marten had what appeared to be stuffing from furniture inside her clothing, and Mr Gordon was still wearing a Christmas jumper.
On 1 March, prosecutors say baby Victoria's body was found in a shed in Brighton in the same Lidl bag she had been seen being carried in, covered in rubbish.
Pathologists have been unable to establish a cause of death.
In a police interview after the body was found, Ms Marten gave conflicting dates for Victoria's death, but said she had fallen asleep sitting up holding the baby in her jacket and awoke to find her dead.
She told officers she kept the body because she wanted an autopsy to be performed, adding: "I've been carrying her around not knowing what to do."
Ms Marten also told police she and Mr Gordon had planned to buy a flat but were recognised when they travelled to London to find one.
She continued: "In order to save [the baby] from the services, then we would have to probably remove ourselves from society till we could find a house"
Mr Gordon told police their situation went "really down really quickly" after their car caught fire with possessions inside.
Ms Marten said in an interview they considered turning themselves in and insisted the baby had adequate clothing to survive outdoors, which the prosecution disputes.
Mr Little KC said the couple had put their relationship and "view of life" above the baby's safety, adding Victoria "would still be alive... if it was not for the reckless, utterly selfish, callous, cruel, arrogant and ultimately grossly negligent conduct of these two defendants".
Ms Marten and Mr Gordon are charged with manslaughter by gross negligence of their baby between 4 January 2023 and 27 February 2023.
The couple are also accused of four other offences : cruelty to their baby; concealment of the baby's birth; causing or allowing her death; and perverting the course of justice by concealing the body.
The trial continues.

Soap refuses to let Nina pay for anything. Not out of some “I’m the man” type of stuff but he knows she has limited funds and wants her to save as much of it as possible.
After moving back, Nina got a nice chunk of change comprising of her mother, father and grandfather’s estates. Price helped her set up all her banking and saving accounts so she has access to it all.
Soap just wants her to have the freedom that comes with money. He knows she relies on him for almost everything. Her only friends are also his. She lives with him, she doesn’t drive and her disabilities make it hard for her to work.
If she ever wanted to leave or if something happened to him, she’d have something to fall back on.
When she’s forceful enough he lets her buy movie tickets or snacks or a couple things from Lidl. He ends up putting the equivalent in his “future fund”. Their future. Traveling, a house, a business, whatever she wanted. He’d do it.
