Hiya guys - just a bit of a PSA:

Those of you who may have followed me for a year or two may remember (or not) that i have a two year hiatus coming every year at the end of july while I am at music summer camp.

Guess what time it is 👀??

From july 20 - august 3 2025 i will be having a hiatus while out socialising/singing/making music at summer camp 😁

What does that mean? It means I will be less active than I even am rn yet you may still dm me if you are okay with me maybe take some extra time to respond.

Nordis Live gig report

Käärijä at Nordis Live, Helsinki July 11 2025

Last week I went to Käärijä’s one non-festival date on his summer tour this year being at Nordis Live, Helsinki. All in all I’d say it was a good time. Probably middle-of-the-road of the concerts I’ve seen of his. Don’t get me wrong, this is not saying a lot since I’ve had some watafuk experiences at concerts of his so my perception of a good concert is wack. Still, I am happy I went and glad to see the guy and all of the amazing fans again!!

I went to the queue just before nine in the morning and was surprised both by how low and how high a number I ended up getting (39). To be completely honest I’d had no idea how intense the queue would be so part of me thought it would be like a Böle situation with way too many people at way too early in the morning and other parts of me thought it might be closer to Backas with just chill vibes all day. It turned out to be somewhere inbetween although way closer to the cozy and almost family gathering vibes of Backas which for me was just what I needed.

The weather kept dry all day – with just a bit of thunder before 10 am – so I’d say it was a very pleasant enough queue in that regard as well. It was not the hottest queue (the heat only hit Finland the day after), but it was manageable, and the vibes again were so lovely.

People seemed extra generous today, especially around noon where so many people gave out stickers and prints and keychains and bracelets. Granted me and @bisonaari contributed to this bringing minibuckets all the way from Canada to give out (and left over stickers as well). On top of this I of course had my own gig stickers as well which seemed to be as popular as ever.

We had a bit of a Kääryle Summer Camp reunion around 2 pm when Bison, @teal-skull, @carpblu, @ninjani, @icbimakb @kaarijalist and I went to Hesburger together, took pictures with our green flag and exchanged gifts. However, I might have been the bad guy (sort of joking?) leaving the rest of the group when the queue lining up started and didn’t end up go to the backrow as many of the summer camp goers did when inside.

Nordis being an outside venue gave me almost a like vanity fair sort of vibe. The was a lucky bucket/get what you get activity happening around the merch stand today helped creating this atmosphere. They had literally taped a bucket at the end of hockeysticks! It was so silly I couldn’t help but love it. It was also a nice way to keep the fans entertained since there was two and a half hours of waiting time when inside before the concert again.

Jesse came out which earned him some cheer from the audience, yet he didn’t end up having the tape show today *sad face*.

However, the laidback vibes wouldn’t last since an hour before showtime one of the fans had an epileptic episode. We were lucky there was a doctor in the audience that knew what to do while we waited for an ambulance to get to the pretty unconscious person. We never figured out if the fan was okay. I really hope they are! For what I was told this was the third time they’d had an episode at a käärijä show, and at one point Mikke had warned the fan that it might not be good for them to go in front for a show if this kept happening. Once more I really hope they are okay. I was very happy in a way that it happened at a show with this long a wait before the concert started. I could just have imagined the chaos of it happening during the concert!!

Speaking of the concert, Nordis gave me Backas vibes in the best way!! I had a spot (second row in the middle) so I could just about see backstage where Jesse often were standing with a goofy grin on his face - especially during Kot Kot when Häärijä went running around in his new chicken costume (I laughed my ass off as well at this part as well). Jere seemed back to his old yapping self and while I still cannot understand much finnish I got a lot from context (to the point that my finnish friend believed I understood more than I actually did).

It was lovely hearing (a shortened version) of Eurodab live but I loved hearing older songs like Hirrtaa Kiini and Viulunkieli again even more! That was one thing I’d felt was missing from the Sweden shows where I think outside of Mic Mac all songs was from 2023 and on.

At one point a guy from Italy got pointed out (he had a sign inviting Jere to his wedding) which did two things: it prompted Jere to go into bisexual flirting with both the man and his upcoming wife AND it made him ask if there was anybody else visiting from outside of Finland (in this round he noticed my sad little Danish flag I had to take off its pole since my last flag kept getting denied entry at concerts. He saw me and quickly said: Denmark!!! Before moving on. I laughed that he might look at me in my Bulbasaur hat and think ‘oh no not this guy again’ which was why he gave me only a second of recognition xD). Other than that, the most interaction I managed to get was water splashed on me during ICIP and CCC but since I had no expectations then this was more than enough!

Jesse and Sonny joined in hockey jerseys for Urheilutjatka which was nice. Oh and we got Bananas! It has been a while since I’ve heard that live so that was cool!! Jere didn’t seem to want to go off stage after the show which in my book is always a good sign.

I got to gift Mikke my second to last sticker after the concert (his reaction was saying ‘EVERY GIG [you give me this]’ while shaking his head smiling) but I wasn’t quick enough to ask for the setlist (before somebody else did). What about my last sticker I hear you say? Well, I made a fool out of myself while giving it to Käärijä’s mother at the merch stand – please Ms. Käärijä I hope I wasn’t too cringe :’3. I got to try the lucky bucket tho where I got a hat, a hairspray and a shirt. The hairspray had to stay behind in Finland because in no way I was gonna have enough luck to get it through airport security! The hat I hope to give to a friend, and I plan to maybe make a tanktop and/or croptop out of the shirt so overall I am okay with the lot.

I thought about saying his to Jere’s dad but in the end didn’t have the guts. I didn’t see any other crew members really, but I didn’t stay long today either since the fan I was living with had to go home for an early shift and I didn’t feel confident enough finding my way home alone (nor get in if I did indeed find my way since I didn’t have a key). So I made the logical conclusion that it was probably okay for me not to say hi to Jere today since I am definitely not starving on Käärijä interactions (having met him at both Hamburg and Warsaw last year).

Thank you again for all the wonderful gifts and interactions in the queue and during the show. I hope to see you soon again – maybe for Supersunnuntai in Espoo which will be my next and last (PLANNED) Käärijä concert of the summer.

I did it!!! I flew over 5000 miles to Nordis for my first ever Käärijä gig!!! I couldn’t believe it, ellu and I got SECOND ROW?!?! I was gifted so many beautiful stickers, keychains, prints and other incredible art from people, everyone I got to meet was so cool and friendly and AHHHH I’m still just so amazed by it all!

Thank you to everyone from the Käärtist community! Thank you Finland! I can’t wait to come back!!! 💚🇫🇮🥳

Big news

Just a quick reminder how I do with the stickers since I have had a handful of people asking if they can take one for a friend and/or get more than one:

First of all I am honored that you like my art enough to want multiple!

Secondly, I have a limited number of stickers (99 since I kept one myself) so to keep it most fair I will only be given one per person and it is first to serve.

There is a few exceptions to this rule: 1) I am at a show that is less crowded so I have trouble to give out every sticker you may be able to get a second at the end of the evening. 2) When I am getting close to be 'sold out' of stickers I may keep a few just in case I meet a crew/bandmember and if my luck is not that great you may again be able to get a sticker from me at the end of the evening. In both those cases however I still prioritize people who haven't gotten any sticker

If you end up not getting a sticker don't fear - I have started to make previous gig stickers available for purchase on redbubble (the one difference will be the redbubble version wont have the location and date printed on them) after the show.

Also important disclaimers for festivals and gigs I've decided to attend in the nick of time: there wont normally be stickers avaialable for these shows but instead you may find me doing quick pen doodles on post it notes or give out bracelets.
