So I was rereading the Dushyanta and Shakuntala story, and I just noticed the worst thing ever. Every mortal couple in Hindu Mythology that anyone ever called the "definition of true love" has been sundered from one another in at least one version, and usually this involves the woman being innocent and the man being either duty-bound or a jerk.

Krishna has to leave Vrindavan and Radha for Mathura. I whole-heartedly believe this was inevitable unless Radha left Vrindavan, so I don't take Krishna-slander regarding this but. They never really get together together after that so Idk tbh.

Rama, of course, does the whole Agni-Pariksha thing, even if we don't take the Uttar Kand, and if we do, he goes from reputation-obsessed questionable man to utter jerk who absolutely doesn't deserve to be called Purushottam.

And although Kalidasa did an excellent job of making Dushyanta and Shakuntala's story one of star-crossed lovers, in most other cases, Dushtyanta (in an effort to pull a Rama) outright lies and calls Shakuntala a harlot in open court when she asks him to help raise their son. The only good thing about that "love" story is the ABSOLUTE Tongue-Lashing (TM) Shakuntala gives him. Other than that, it's basically a man coercing a sheltered woman into doing the deed, later trying to humiliate her in public when asked to take accountability, and then passing it off as 'upholding her reputation.'

Honestly, we have so many good love stories I did not expect these to be the benchmark of love 🥲🫠

- it wrecks my bones so bad they all shatter, in a full-body cast for life, that catra goes to visit the one who caused the instincts and rationale that come w believing a person's worth is directly tied to their power to just be part of the way her mind works. sw now a prisoner, catra tryna ask about some missing file cause she's got her old position. but just for that one time for that one question. of course.

--- i think the only reason she still needed sw to be the one to give her some, any kind of validation or assurance at this point wasn't about sw the way it had ever been in the past. honestly i think she'd grown pretty accustomed to having to live without any recognition from sw that she meant a damn thing, cause she'd had adora there back then, and she made her feel like she did. but sw was the one who'd put all these thoughts about herself and her own life's lack of any significance into her head that directly contributed to developing the thought processes and rationale exhibited in her behaviors, and they're all factors in her decision to part ways from the only person who'd ever made her feel like she meant something, like her life wasn't worthless.

cause she reached a point where she felt like that was all a lie and none of it had been real, and became determined to create that on her own, and get back that feeling and have it exist in a way that's dependent on no one but her. and the sw survival guide is the only way she knows of for how to (supposedly) do that.

gets the tiniest glimpse of some hope she might actually finally get the validation she needs from sw at a time when she may not fully get why, but she needs it more than ever. and i think a big part of why is now that she's made it to second-in-command, she's been wondering if it all really is what she wants and probably still considering whether or not she'd made the right choice staying. then next visit, sw's gone, left the evidence that she tricked catra into bringing her exactly what she needed to do it. knowing it left catra likely to take the fall for it and it very likely being a death sentence if she does.

which would make sense as to why she freaks soo sooo badly when she hears where sw went. there's def gotta be a lot going on in her head there but i think part of it was sw went to the person she'd still been wondering if she should've gone to, and was visiting sw tryna get some sense or feeling that at least by staying she'd made her life worth something. and after what sw did to her, as long as she's w adora, then catra ever feeling able to even consider being w adora is wrecked af for her.

Ever think about how tragic it is to be in The Universe's place as a being that loves all of creation but can never express that in a way that the subjects of their affection can understand so they created a middle line of it. But their love is also what hurts you, like how Loop had to give up in the end cuz of how hopeless it all seemed so Loop had to make another wish. And how Siffrin continued to suffer during the timeloops, and especially how much it hurts Loop, to see someone else achieve what they've always wanted to have. To Loop, they're The Universe's favourite cosmic joke but to The Universe, they love them.

They granted Loop's wish, and then granted another, they continuously grant Siffrin's wish. They love them, but they don't know how much it hurts all the same because they can't understand the way all of creation expresses love. Because their own language is incomprehensible to anyone else but them. Ever think about how lonely it must be to be a higher being with a language only they can understand.

Ok so finally reading We Were Liars and what is happening?? I'm half way in and super confused, tbh I think Cadence is borderline schizophrenic or has made the Liars up as that explains silence from Johnny, Mirren and Gat, the missing barbie doll, them not joining the rest of the fam for dinner, Cadence not being allowed to move in with them as they don't exist, the weird family behaviour and so on but that isn't possible as her mother talks about the Liars and she once mentions them being tagged in photos and all... was Cadence's accident not an accident but a suicide attempt or worse a murder attempt??? Is her mother guilty of the accident or - a little far fetched - her grandfather??? What's going on??

For those who don't know, Liar's Bar is a game about a card game, known as Bluff/BS/Cheat where the aim to get rid of all your card, but your playing them face down and they gotta match the face up card that was placed at the start of the game. Two or more decks are typically used. (But you can play with one)

Obviously, at some point, you'll run out of the matching card. Let's say kings in this example and that were playing with 2 decks. That means 8 kings, and depending on the rules, 4 jokers(they normally sub in as acceptable stand ins so long as it's agreed on beforehand, otherwise there removed). You gotta call Bluff/BS/Cheat and flip that card that was put down, if it's not a king, the Liar takes the pot(pile of cards) but if it's a king you take the pot.

With the Liar's Bar game however, instead of taking the cards, you play Russian Roulette! You guess right? The Liar's gotta pull the tigger! You guess wrong? 1/6 chance of a bullet to the head!

The last one standing wins

Also, I think there was an update that allowed those who guessed right to shoot other players, but that's Chaos Mode, so let's stick to regular rules, lol

It opens the door to a lot of chaos. Simply because of the Slugs.

First, we are going to need opaque blaster shells and a revolver style blaster to shoot.

Second, an agreement on the kind of slugs you're allowed, Floppers are a yes since they are harmless, but the others? Not so much, but it would be fun to risk the chance of webbing or sliming yourself.

Third, an agreement on the number of decks used.

And finally, a poker face and no fear!
