On Jason's defense if there was a hornets nest and I had a very good reason to hate hornets (ie- they tortured and murdered me, FOR EXAMPLE) and nobody did anything efficient about the hornets so I decided to kick the hornets nest and spray it with bug poison, my first concern would not be to check whether one of the tiny hornets is actually a nice kind-hearted researcher who hated what the others were doing to my pod and journaled about us and trying to protect us from the rest of the murder hornets. I'd just kick the nest and worry about getting stung. Just saying.
