honestly the only difference you need to know about mirror’s edge versus mirror’s edge: catalyst is that in order to play mirror’s edge, i have to dig out my xbox 360, cords and cables, hook it up, hit it a few times to get it running, and hope the disc still reads. and to play catalyst, i just pull it up on my ps4. and i still feel the urge to replay mirror’s edge a dozen times a year while i haven’t touched catalyst since i finished it.

#im touching it now obviously because I Want Trophy #but if not for that very external motivator. no. i dont think i would.#its not even a Bad game its just sort of. well! okay! cool experience! i don’t want to have it again that much!#the open world is. nice i guess? it really is impressive that they put all of that together and you can basically run from any point on the #map to another without losing your flow. but like. okay. i dont want to be doing that though.#i want to be playing mirror’s edge not freestyle parkour simulator.#the level design in the original mirror’s edge is so fucking fantastic it really boggles the mind. and then catalyst is. well. some of the #levels are pretty cool i guess.#cannot emphasize enoufh how much this game is just Fine. its just Fine. its a Fine game. i want to kill whoever made the dashes and the #random missions in the open world though.#that might just be a personal thing but they’re just not fun. they’re too disconnected too open. mirror’s edge one is Tight.#mirror’s edge catalyst is loose enough that i keep getting lost even when i have runner vision on.#which probably would not be a problem in any other game that didnt have the art style of mirror’s edge. where everything looks the same On #Purpose to draw attention to your rebellion against the corporate status quo. nice idea! great in game 1! a fucking nightmare in an open #world where i can’t find any fucking landmarks to orient myself by! all the buildings look the same!!!!!

I feel like a fool for finalizing realizing this but,

I was never quite satisfied with the explanation given in DGS 2-3 on why Barok took on the prosecution of his close friend.

I don’t think it was ever EXPLICITLY stated and the most we really got is it upheld Albert’s reputation. That Barok did it bc any other prosecutor would paint Albert as a sham right away. Which is a fate worse than death for Albert.

But that never stood right with me bc Barok values finding the truth and justice above all else. He would not do something for the sake of “prolonging” cause he knows it’s pointless. The truth MUST be found so there’s no need to tiptoe around it.

It makes no sense to do it for the sake of Albert’s reputation if finding the absolute truth inevitably leads to Albert’s reputation being ruined. The machine, experiment, and theory, it HAD to all be proven faulty if Albert was to be free. There’s no way it could not. Barok knows this.

What he did in 2-3 seemed like tiptoeing but he was working harder than ever to get to the truth.

The reason why he pushed so hard, the way he continued to give point after point, bring up every inconsistency, bring up even the smallest of possibilities that Albert was guilty, (which honestly sounds like his usual thing. But this time there’s an personal motivation to it)

was entirely so that Ryunosuke could disprove him.

We already knew that Barok trusted Ryuno to handle the defense. That Ryuno also strives for absolute truth. So he threw every little thing at him so that there would be NOTHING left that’d indicate Albert as involved in the murder.

That’s why he took the case. That’s why he was adamant on painting Albert as a murderer.

The way Barok trusted the life of his closest friend to Ryunosuke HE TRUSTED HIM THAT MUCH GOD I LOVE HIS CHARACTER GROWTH SO MUCH-

I’m a writer but I’m not gonna pretend I know how to write a GAME #I would hope they’d spread out his redemption a little more if they could afford too #long post

#castform #:)! they're so pleased..! they like the weather… it's so pleasant right now… (VERY HOT) (NINETY DEGREES) (TOO HOT)#they're smiling… :)! they like something you said you were nice to them :)!#this pokémon has that gimmick where they like. change types based on the weather which is. like cool i guess i dunno if it's good #in competitive but i never used it personally. i feel like i always got it at too low of a level to want to grind it up #it's like ok. i feel like castform's moveset kinda has to be weather ball or whatever it is and then three weather setup moves so you can #actually use it and utilize the type-changing ability to its fullest extent. because if your opponent sets up weather then they're probably #already benefitting from it and you don't want them to benefit from it. because that means your weather ball probably isn't going to be good #against the theoretical opponent's type. and then it takes two moves to use any given type's version of weather ball so i just. don't #see how it could be that good. i will look it up on smogon cuz i imagine it's pretty decent in doubles bc then you can have the Other pokémo #n set up the weather so castform can use it but like if it's not even that strong to begin with #it certainly doesn't look it #yeah it's always been kinda mid it looks like. started off better around gen 4 and then just slooowly fell off up to gen 7 #dunno! still don't care a ton about competitive but i don't even care about this pokémon in not-competitive. sorry‚ castform fans

having played a decent amount of bg3 now i can say with absolute certainty that i'm going to durgetash hell

#in my next playthrough i mean #i'm tav rn but when i play durge... oof #i expected astarion to interest me more than he does tbh #however a pretty boy simply cannot compete with a wet rat man #i know a lot of villainfuckers like raphael too but eh #all he does is talk a bunch and be cryptic and not really do anything useful lol #and if you try to make a deal with him apparently he just decides he doesn't want it anymore?#and monsterfuckers seem to be into the emperor but again... eh.#i mean his story is cool i guess but i was kinda annoyed that i had to support him no matter what #anyway i have eyes for one (1) man #i mean my tav is romancing karlach and i do like her a lot & they are chaotic cuties together #my durge is gonna be pure evil though #i am interested to see how it changes things but honestly i was kinda disappointed so far by how many illusory choices this game has #like it seems like a lot of the time they try to make it feel like you have more control over the plot than you actually do #like for example i am playing a gith who ran away from her creche because of strong ideological differences #and i wanted to side with orpheus and kill the emperor but apparently that's just not a real choice? like i guess u just die if u do that #also i succeeded on the check to get ketheric to surrender and he WAS surrendering but then aylin flew in and i was forced to fight him?#so far it seems like you pretty quickly get ushered back into the same main sequence of events no matter what #like the game isn't bad but it also is not as good as i was lead to believe #i know some degree of railroading happens in every RPG ever and is pretty much inevitable ofc #idk maybe it is just bc my expectations were too high bc of how much praise the game gets but it's not really on the level i expected

idri's thieves' tools were inherited from her mentor; they're big and clunky in her hands and she'd maybe be better served with finer, lighter tools, but these are the ones she learned with, and she wouldn't give them up for anything

elyss's are a bespoke matched steel toolset made for her by her blacksmith friend and the party's former fighter; she asked him to make them, but she treasures them like a gift nonetheless

melliwyk's are personally handcrafted and bundled together into one fold-out multitool doohickey, stylized as an insect with various tools for its antennae and legs

felix's are a hodgepodge, obviously accumulated and/or replaced one piece at a time across a wide timespan and from completely different sources, bundled together with his other hand tools in a worn but well-tended leather case embossed with a raccoon motif

#mel's are still like-new she's almost never needed to use them for anything #the bard has rogue levels and lockpicks he was just a dick about opening a door one time #and mel was like I guess I gotta do everything my damn self around here 😒#elyss' have seen more use but almost entirely just her practicing with them #because she learned lockpicking in response to having developed a fear of being trapped or restrained and is pretty intense about it #idri's are CONSPICUOUSLY old and unsightly amidst her other belongings and she's probably had to get them repaired a couple times #by smiths or tinkers who-- well-meaning-- were like 'a tool like this would be easier to replace altogether' and got shut down hard for it #felix tries for gnomish craftsmanship whenever he loses or breaks something but he travels a lot and is often broke so you take what you can #(it's all perfectly good but gnome metalsmiths are usually better able to make strong tools at a very delicate scale)#(also small hands are just better for making things suited to other small hands)#oh my god tsakesh and kethri are both also proficient with thieves' tools GOD I love lockpicking ahdjgkdhs #I mean tsakesh's would be skyrim lockpicks agsjfkshsk #kethri's are also a mutt hodgepodge of whatever she can get ahold of ALTHOUGH she's not had to replace NEARLY so many as felix #I wish I had the attention span to draw Objects I think it'd be cool to see different characters' nominally same items #my OCs #elyss #idri #melliwyk #felix #kethri #tsakesh

I genuinely feel like I dont have a right at all to complain or talk negative about Japanese fans but like……..the evident cliqueish-ness of honestly what looks like a very unfortunate larger chunk of them ……😮‍💨

like i gotta be honest the concert was a lot more isolating than it actually already was in itself because of the vibes at least a couple of clusters of fans gave me

Cyberpunk 2077 is my favorite anti-capitalist game that I spent 70 dollars to play

#like is it worth 70 dollars #I Guess?#I know it took years and so many people to actually put this game together #and the basegame and dlc for seventy dollars total is such a steal in comparison to say #a certain life simulator game I play #but the actual game Cyberpunk in itself is so inaccessible already #like my gaming laptop can run the sims with all dlc and custom content on ultra graphics EASY #buy trying to run cyberpunk even on the lowest graphics is like #ROUGH #and like paying 70 dollars for the LOWEST graphics setting is pretty mid #like yeah they got Keanu Reeves as the cool brain parasite #but that only speaks to me on a personal level because I have a mental health issue that causes me to have Keanu Reeves as a brain parasite #in my actual real life #the story is so great but there’s so many side quests that no matter how many hours I play the game for I’ll never actually COMPLETE it #cyberpunk is my FAVORITE game and I do NOT regret buying it bc the story is there the world is there the characters are there #but it feels so superficial knowing I spent a quarter of my paycheck to spend 30 hours being like #‘that’s right Johnny Silverhand we should fuck em up’#i think it’s more that cyberpunk feels like a story the world really needs right now #but it’s only accessible to such a niche group of people #especially since the game got so much hate on launch #and yeah there is the anime now but the anime doesn’t even TOUCH a VAST MAJORITY of night city #the anime doesn’t have the same depth and wonder that the game has because the game is about a city and the show is about 1 group of people #cyberpunk 2077 really resonated with me in such a unique way and I love it so much I can’t even begin to describe my hyperfixation #but the graphics and first person camera give me motion sickness #and my wallet cried for three days when I bought the game #and so much of the actual political ideology is lost on me Because of the price point #I’m gonna play it anyway tho bc I’ve never seen my own brain parasites represented as video game characters before #twink speaks #Twink plays cyberpunk 2077 #not cc
