So I know next to nothing about Halsey, their career or who they are as a human (other than they use they/them pronouns if I'm not mistaken and are known for singing?) but I just wanted to send love and support to their fanbase. Roman Empire has been there, we see you. We know exactly what you're feeling. How it hurts to see your hero go through something like this. Healing vibes to Halsey and strength to their friends, family, fans and loved ones durring this time.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Flags!!
This flag was designed by us, as we currently have a family member with Leukemia and wish to bring awareness to this kind of cancer.
color meaning:
#FF2D34: Myeloma
#00DC0E: Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
#FF8C2E: Leukemia
#D12DFF: Hodgkin Lymphoma
Below is information all about Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancers.
Leukemia and Lymphoma are both cancers that are not associated with a tumor. Lymphomas are cancers that affect the lymph system and start in cells called lymphocytes. Leukemia is a cancer of the early blood-forming tissues, including your bone marrow and lymph system.
There are many types of lymphoma. Some grow and spread slowly and some are more aggressive. There are two main types of Lymphoma:
1. Hodgkin Lymphoma is cancer that starts in the B lymphocytes (B cells) of the lymph system. Your lymph system helps you fight infection and control the fluids in your body.
2. Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) is cancer that starts in the lymphocytes anywhere lymph tissue is found:
Lymph nodes
Spleen
Bone marrow
Thymus
Adenoids and tonsils, or
The digestive track.
Leukemia typically involves white blood cells, the cells that are your infection fighters. Leukemia can be divided into categories: fast growing (acute) and slow growing (chronic); and by which white blood cells are affected:
Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL)
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL
Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)
A screening test is used to detect cancers in people who may be at higher risk for developing the disease. With leukemia and lymphoma, there are no early detection tests. The best way to find them is to be aware of the symptoms:
Swollen lymph nodes which can appear as a lump in the neck, armpit or groin;
Fever
Night sweats
Weight loss without trying, and
Fatigue.
Leukemia can have similar symptoms but also can include:
Easy bleeding or bruising;
Recurring nosebleeds; and
Bone pain or tenderness
Myeloma is cancer of the plasma cells. Plasma cells are white blood cells that produce disease- and infection-fighting antibodies in your body. Myeloma cells prevent the normal production of antibodies, leaving your body's immune system weakened and susceptible to infection. The multiplication of myeloma cells also interferes with the normal production and function of red and white blood cells. An abnormally high amount of these dysfunctional antibodies in the bloodstream can cause kidney damage. Additionally, the myeloma cells commonly produce substances that cause bone destruction, leading to bone pain and/or fractures.
Myeloma cells are produced in the bone marrow, the soft tissue inside your bones. Sometimes myeloma cells will travel through your blood stream and collect in other bones in your body. Because myeloma frequently occurs at many sites in the bone marrow, it is often referred to as multiple myeloma.
Signs and symptoms of myeloma include the following:
Hypercalcemia (excessive calcium in the blood)
Anemia (shortage or reduced function of red blood cells)
Renal damage (kidney failure)
Susceptibility to infection
Osteoporosis, bone pain, bone swelling, or fracture
High protein levels in the blood and/or urine
Weight loss
In 2022, more than 62,650 people are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia. In addition:
Leukemia accounts for 3.6% of all new cancer cases.
The overall 5-year survival rate for leukemia has more than quadrupled since 1960.
62.7% of leukemia patients survive 5 years or more.
The diagnosis of leukemia requires specific blood tests, including an examination of cells in the blood and marrow.
Treatment and prognosis depend on the type of blood cell affected and whether the leukemia is acute or chronic. Chemotherapy and blood and marrow transplant are often used to treat leukemia.

Leukemia: Symptoms, Causes, Types, Diagnosis, Treatment & Prevention
Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, causing the abnormal production of white blood cells. These abnormal white blood cells cannot fight against infection and impair the ability of the bone marrow to produce red blood cells and platelets. Leukemia is acute or chronic. This condition can be characterized by symptoms such as fever, weakness and fatigue, headaches, enlarged liver and spleen, swollen tonsils, bone pain, and weight loss.
The cause of leukemia is not known, however, factors that put some people at higher risk include exposure to severe radiation, exposure to certain chemicals, such as benzene, and viruses like the Human T-cell leukemia virus. Hematologists and oncologists usually treat and manage leukemia.
Leukemia prevalence
Prevalence of Leukemia in the World
In 2020, leukemia accounted for nearly 2.5 percent of all new cancer cases worldwide, with 474,519 new cases identified. The age-standardized incidence rate was 5.4 per 100,000 population, indicating significant geographical variation, with higher rates in North America and lower rates in some areas of Africa.
Prevalence of Leukemia in India
Leukemia is the sixth most common cancer between 1990 and 2019 (apart from other neoplasms), accounting for approximately 6.79% of all cancers. With a 0.78% difference, men are more likely to get leukemia than women. Leukemia is more common in men (7.17%) than in women (6.39%).

Promyelocytes: What Are They?

What Are Promyelocytes?
Basically, promyelocytes are known to be cells that are larger than a myeloblast which contains a prominent nucleoli, a Golgi hof and granules.
They are somehow different from a myeloblast as a myeloblast is a large cell which has a high N:C ratio – moderately blue cytoplasm and prominent nucleoli whereas a promyelocyte cell is larger than a myeloblast with a prominent nucleoli, a Golgi hof and granules – primary granules that appear reddish purple. Promyelocytes cannot be distinguished by routine light microscopy. (Source: “Promyelocyte” from Science Direct; https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/immunology-and-microbiology/promyelocyte)
To add to that, promyelocytes have basophilic cytoplasm that contains primary (azurophilic) granules. A Golgi zone in promyelocyte may appear as a visible paranuclear hof or clearing. (Source: “Promyelocyte” by Teresa Scordino MD from American Society of Hematology; https://imagebank.hematology.org/image/60399/promyelocyte)
Promyelocytes comprise approximately of 2% of nucleated cells in the bone marrow. They appear to be dark blue/purple in color with often a single brightening at the edge of the nucleus or golgi zone. Promyelocytes are the youngest variant of the granulocyte series that can still be reasonably seen in peripheral blood in severe functions. (Source: “Neutrophil Promyelocyte from Cell Wiki)
Promyelocytes measure approximately 12 to 20 microns and will have a gritty basophilic color and texture and there will also be prominent primary granules that look red/purple grains of sand. (Source: “Promyelocyte” from LabCE.com; https://www.labce.com/spg448405_promyelocyte.aspx)

B, where have you been?
Hey there I'm B. In December of 2022, Technodad gave me the challenge of finding one good thing in each day no matter how small. For a while there I was posting monthly lists of good things that happened.
Then in March of 2024 I went into remission for sarcoma after almost two years. I tried to keep my lists up but it felt strange. If you've never seen one of my posts, I haven’t posted in a while. I went back to school, got back into the swing of life again after being sick for so long. It was hard. I wish I'd made lists for the last few months.
This past week I was diagnosed with leukemia, a kind of blood cancer.
I went through so much chemotherapy fighting off the sarcoma that my body has rebelled and developed a new kind of cancer.
This time I don't know what's going to happen. It's so different from last time.
The anxiety I feel around this has kept me from sleeping well the last few weeks. I feel like I'm part of study on sleep deprivation. My nights get later and my mornings get earlier. I have laid in bed and watched the sun come up half a dozen times. All the days are blurring together into one long haze of fear and uncertainty.
I've been told some of the worst news a person can hear. I've heard three words no person wants to hear, "You have cancer". I've heard four words no one with cancer wants to hear, "We're out of options" I've also heard good news, "The treatment is working" and "You're in remission".
I've had a lot of doctors tell me a lot of things about how my life is going to play out and how much of it they think I'm going to have. I've been told I wouldn't see the age of 23. I've been told to start getting my affairs in order. I've been told that I was dying.
That I was 22 and dying.
I'm 23 now. I made it through all of that. I fought odds that were never in my favor. I beat a cancer that most people don't get until their 60s. I beat it spreading to my lungs. I beat it without having my leg amputated. I beat it and I survived.
I survived.
I was in remission.
I'm still in remission.
So why am I crying? Why do I have to do this all over again? Why did I have to hear the words "You have cancer again"?
This feels like some kind of sick joke. Like the god I prayed to every night has decided to play a game with my life. Like I am a puppet in a show I didn't ask to be in. A pawn in a game I didn't want to play. A soldier in a war I didn't know was going on.
So here I am. Again. Facing an uncertain future.
This time I'm lucky to have a support system. My lovely partner, my friends, Technodad, and hopefully still all of y'all.
Remember to take the time to appreciate each day that you have. If you can, share a good thing that happened to you this past month.
Until next time.
