Usually simply unfriendly behavior drive people away fast enough.

This one apparently needs  a stronger demonstration of how unpleasant she can be so Ashley stares hard with the intention of lashing out one of the half dozen quips that cross her mind.

To find out that none comes out with the usual ease.

She rather gets a strong impression of ineffectiveness like she's loosing her usual grip right now.

Funny though that has the merit to shut her up.

She lets the moment pass, gives away just a neutral answer : "Rum".

A flicker thought vaguely suggests that even when sit Ashley hovers her about a good head taller .

Amy blinks, hear herself saying : "Can I offer you another one?"

Ashley narrows eyes while internally considering the moment,  aware that her lingering look usually doesn't work well in putting people at ease, which is exactly her purpose.

Still, dark honey eyes slightly quiver and holds her gaze.

She breaths out : "Thanks" and wins back a small genuine smile.

Amy passes the order to the bartender.

Elbows back on dark surface of the counter, a finger slicking the round of the the empty glass, Ashley's pensive.

No,this one is not a threat, definitely not the type she must worry about right now so, fuck it, Ashley will down another drink and call it an evening.

She'll have time to concentrate on her plans soon enough.

Still wants to rub off that taken aback feeling though, so that when she feels Amy's attention again she decides to play a bit and goes for a different angle.

"What did you say was your name again ?" she asks, tone casual.

It's Amy's turns to arch a brow and slightly shift towards as to prompt to face her : "I didn’t say it".

Her expression holds a much more smug innuendo : "For real?"

There she wins.

girl on the phone: what? oh you know! it's just work, work, work.

me: haha yeah! Just another busy Monday :)

girl on the phone i have known for exactly 11 seconds: sometimes i wish it would just stop. it's relentless. and it's every week! how many mondays can someone go through?

me trying to do my job: ha ha i know right? so I'm calling--

girl on the phone i have known for exactly 16 seconds: i'm so tired. i'm soooooo tired. shelby kept me up all night again. she will not get over keegan. they keep calling each other just to yell i swear to god.

me: only 4 days till the weekend and some sleep! :D

girl: yeah. but she's sleeping with me. at my house. didn't he tell you? who is going to get the dog? or the fucking 300 dollar blender I got them?

me: unfortunately no! so i would love to know more but the reason i'm calling is to get you scheduled for x job interview are you still interested?

girl whispering: what?

me awkwardly: it's...i'm dylan. from x. the x job you applied for. we would like to interview you for it.
