that annoying moment when getting left for dead in the trunk of a car in your 20s comes back to haunt you 40 years later (take a shot every time ford says “stanley”)

#ask#non mdzs#My health journey has been: Hernia -> acid reflux -> Vocal pain due to aforementioned reflux -> chest infection.#I'm terrified to know what's about to hit me next. Please let it be something kind. PLEASE.#The consequence of living with linguists is that you'll wake up with a wacked up voice -#suddenly you're sitting you down in front of a program called something like Praat having your shimmer and jitter levels calibrated.#They gave me a GRBAS of 33012. I have a fun thing called a pitch break where a whole octave just does not exist.#My vocal pain was bad enough I ended up seeing a speech pathologist and that whole experience was super neat!#I learnt a lot about voice - to be honest I might make a little comic on it after some more research. Fascinating stuff.#For example; your mental perception of our voice modulates the muscles of the vocal folds and larynx.#meaning that when you do have changes (inflammation = more mass = lower frequency)#your brain automatically attempts to correct it to what it 'should sound like'. Leading to a lot more vocal strain and damage!#And it gets really interesting for trans voice care as well - because the mental perception of one's voice isn't based on an existing sampl#So a good chunk of trans voice training is also done with the idea of finding one's voice and retraining the brain to accept it. Neat!#Parkinsonial Voice also has this perception to musculature link! The perception is that they are talking at a loud/normal volume#but the actual voice is quite breathy and weak. So vocal training works on practicing putting more effort into the voice#and retraining the brain to accept the 'loud' voice as 'normal'.#Isn't the human body fascinating?#Anyhow; Now I have vocal exercises and strategies to reduce strain and promote healing.#Which is a lot better than my previous strategy of yelling AAAH in my car until my 'voice smoothed out'.#You can imagine the horror on the speech path's face. I am an informed creature now.#I'm my own little lab rat now. I love learning and researching. Welcome to my tag lab. There are good things in this world still.
Today, I got to see my mom. She brought me socks and chocolate and a t-shirt with a Tygrammarsaurus Rex on it
Today I played Minecraft with my nephew, who is a teenager now. He built a tavern beside my monochrome house, and asked for help decorating the outside.
Today, Aurora took her meds easily, and ate a lot of wet food. She's not well, so I'm happy to take any win with her right now.
Today, I pet Bug's face with a soft paintbrush and she fell asleep for a few seconds while I was running it over the top of her head.
Today, 4 of my mice found an excellent forever home.
Since I missed it, yesterday, I took Bug outside for play time, and she really made the most of it. She ran Very Fast all over the big pen like a little velociraptor, flipping her wings at me to get me to join in, and hopping when she got really excited. Her nieces saw her doing it and got so excited that they started bouncing around as well, but they were too nervous to actually play with Bug.

I wonder if Flowey ever just... let Clover stay dead for longer than a few seconds after they died in a fight just to see what happens. I mean, he basically is the master of their fate and would probably get bored of seeing them repeat the same three routes over and over and over again. I feel like in between trying to push Clover to fight Asgore, he'd probably find the time to entertain himself watching other characters react to Clover's death to mix things up a bit.

#my 3rd tattoo was a very very big one#like from my armpit to my upper thigh big#it was meant to be done over 2-3 sessions bc it also has lots of shading#we did it in 1 over the course of ~10 hours#because i ‘sat like a champ’#which is code for 'dissociated while lying down for the entire time'#the artist is the (now) husband of a friend of mine and he says they still talk about me (ten years later) at the shop lol#no numbing cream two small breaks looking bored the entire time#i still pride myself in it and wish i’d still have the same pain tolerance like i did back then man#best i can do now is 2h before i get whiny#anyway. it’s a giant jellyfish with no deeper meaning i just thought it looked sick af (still does)#another one is on my thigh were i let someone practice on me bc i had a crush on this person back then#halfway through i was like ‘you’re kinda really bad at this’#so they were like ‘you do it better then’ so i ended up finishing it myself lol (i dare to say i did a better job)#i bought a tattoo machine and ink and needles and stuff after this#sitting in a box under my bed still#moots be honest would you let me tattoo you yes or no#i’m really gentle i swear#anyway. gimme tattoo lore bc i need some distraction omwh#-`♡´- tulip mail
