Hi friends. I’m 21F and have been struggling with my body image since 2009 which led me to develop anorexia around 2014. I’ve been struggling ever since and have tried every trick and diet out there but have finally settled on my own so I thought I’d share it. First of all, recovery is a lie. There was a point in my life where I fully recovered but made me fat… it was nice not to worry about calories and all that but the pros outweigh the cons of an ED if done correctly. So think of your ED as a lifelong friend. In order to have an ED successfully for a long period of time you must go about it healthily. I know this is somewhat contradictory. I’m gonna include just some general tips, advice, and food alternatives. In a separate post I’ll be listing my favorite low kcal recipes so stay tuned.

GENERAL TIPS

•Drink water before, during, and after meals. This is absolutely crucial.

•During this period it’s important to spend extra time and effort on maintaining your vaginal health, immune system, fertility, and skincare !! Really important not to neglect these things especially vaginal care >.<

•Calories matter but make sure to eat nutritious foods. Must have a good judgment on when to splurge on kcals or when to go for an alternative. For ex: splurging on healthy foods that are a lot of kcals vs unhealthy processed foods that are low kcal.

•It’s good to strive for 1200 kcals or less. If it’s a cheat day or you’re feeling lenient then aim for around 1600 kcals. Never ever go over 2000 kcals.

•if you’re a foodie like me then you *have* to find creative and unique ways to curb your cravings. Otherwise your mental health will plummet. If you’re not satisfied then you’re either gonna keep eating or be miserable

•Remember your brain needs at least 330 kcals to function properly so if you’re feeling slow or disoriented then definitely have a snack or meal.

•Best drinks to have are water, sparkling water, tea, and coffee.

•If you eat over your calorie limit don’t fret, it’s not the end of the world. Just either work out or purge. Keep purging to a limit and don’t do it more than once a day. Ideally less purging is better so keep it for emergencies.

•Using apps such as my fitness pal are great for seeing what nutrients you’re deficient in or going overboard in. However I’ve found I lose more weight when I’m not using the app because I’m thinking about food less. However everybody is different and I would recommend at least checking out the application if you haven’t already.

•Vitamins are your bestie too!! I take a couple supplements to make sure I’m getting the vitamins I need for longevity.

•Cut down on silly calories like sauces and drinks by using alternatives. Also you can pretty much find a low kcal version of anything these days if you look hard enough.

•If you love flavor then these simple things will help like ~ seasoning, low kcal hot sauce such as Tabasco or sriracha, soy sauce, etc.

CRAVING ALTERNATIVES

•Juice or sugary drinks ~ low sugar Gatorade, fruit flavored teas iced with extra tea bags to give it extra flavor

•Soda ~ flavored sparkling water with powder or liquid drink mix such as crystal light strawberry lemonade drink mix

•Starbucks ~ just making my own mixed coffee drinks and sweet tea drinks saves so many calories

•Dessert ~ Gerber biscuits arrowroot (taste like shortbread), Gerber lil biscuits, cottage cheese, chocolate covered fruit or nuts

•Chips ~ Gerber’s Lil Crunchies Mild Chedder (basically cheese/ cheeto puffs), quest chips, or half a serving size of normal chips

•Ice cream ~ strawberry halo top

•Chocolate ~ alter eco or dark chocolate coconut fudge

•Mayo ~ miracle whip or vegan mayo

•Rice ~ cauliflower or broccoli rice

•Pasta ~ Chickpea pasta

I work in a behavioral therapy adjacent role, and I recently came across a cool information sheet about food sensory input that, I mean, because I think about Steddie at all times, immediately made me think of @hotluncheddie's autistic Steve stuff. Which I need to read more of! But, in the meantime, I thought this was cool.

It also maybe kind of explains my occasional intense need for cronchy and/or sour foods.

The following a checklist of foods organized into different textures, flavors, and consistencies. You can use this list to become “detectives” to help determine what works best to calm or alert your child (depending on the needs at the time). This can help bring your youth move to the desired energy level (calm or alert). This can provide sensory input throughout the day in order to adjust their arousal level to meet the demands of the situation.

Non-Food Items

There are several ways to get oral sensory input using non-food items. They are most often used while the jaw utilizes the chewing and sucking sensations (muscle work). Some ideas include:

Chewing gum (muscle work for the jaw and cheeks).

Chewing on straws (muscle work for the jaw and cheeks).

Using and exercise water bottle (sucking, using muscles).

Using a smaller or larger straw depending on how much work you want the jaw muscles to have.

Chewing on soft rubber tubing.

Musical instruments that require mouth input (recorder, harmonicas, flutes etc.)

Court of Darkness: Starbucks Orders

What Starbucks drinks would the Court of Darkness consorts and main characters order? Find out below! ☕️

Guy and Jasper

Guy always gets black coffee, no sugar, no cream. Consumes only premium coffee blends. Grumbles loudly that Jasper’s Avari red coffee is clearly superior.

Baristas ask Jasper for tips and tricks on brewing coffee. Upon hearing this, Lance begrudgingly informs the baristas to be wary of letting him make drinks unsupervised, unless they want additional potions added to them.

Toa and Knight

When drinking in public, Toa orders a black coffee, no cream 5 sugars. If Toa gets the drink delivered to him and he drinks in the privacy of his quarters—Caramel ribbon frappe crunch, extra caramel, extra crunchy toppings, extra whip cream.

Toa frequently orders one cat-shaped cake-pop for Knight. Knight complains each time, lamenting he’s not a child. Toa ignores the complaints, since Knight says them while polishing off the cake-pop.

Lynt and Tino

If ordering alone, Lynt gets a bottle of natural spring mineral water. If Lynt is ordering with Tino…Lynt still reaches for a bottle of water, but after hearing Tino lament over the prince’s lack of desire to consume anything, he’ll grab an iced green tea. Lynt drinks three sips of tea before giving it to Tino.

Regardless of the weather, Tino gets the classic hot chocolate and pours the beverage in a mug passed down from his grandmother.

Fenn and Violet

Fenn has tried EVERY drink at least once. Flirts with baristas shamelessly to get extra shots of vanilla or espresso in his drinks. Is personally responsible for half of the secret drink menu items such as the purple drink, the raspberry cheesecake Frappuccino, the sour patch kids drink, and the apple martini refresher.

Regardless of which drink he orders, Fenn always orders a second drink—a mango dragonfruit refresher. This drink is given to Violet, who often combines the drink with Luxuran blue wine before going out on a date.

Roy, Sherry, and Grayson

Roy has tried every tea drink on the menu, including those on the secret drink menu. He always adds a few Invidian tea leaves to his tea. When Roy doesn’t have tea, he usually orders the pink drink with extra strawberries.

When he goes out with Sherry, Roy smiles indulgently and gets two unicorn Frappuccinos, with extra whip cream and raspberry syrup.

Grayson refuses to imbibe in the unicorn drink, despite Sherry’s pleas. Grayson on a sugar high is nearly as eventful as Grayson imbibing alcohol.

Rio and Thoma

On more than one occasion, Rio has paid for the drink order of the person behind him. Will happily drink anything and often asks the barista for their favorite drink and choose that.

When it’s Fall though, Rio orders only pumpkin spice lattes or Frappuccinos. All hail Rio, the prince of pumpkin spice. Thoma, conversely, DESPISES pumpkin spice, with a passion of a thousand fiery suns. Thoma LOVES Apple crisp Frappuccinos.

Lance

Refuses to contribute money to the soulless corporate machine known as Starbucks. Nope.

Dia, Jay, and Lou

Dia never picks up his orders in person. Jay picks up a very berry hibiscus lemonade on behalf of his young charge and then gets an Earl Grey tea for himself. The pair then split an order of kale and mushroom egg bites. Dia’s mood sours greatly if the egg bites are not available.

The other half of the secret drink menu not made by Fenn was created by Lou. Often, Lou will simply point to random ingredients near the barista and ask if they can be combined.

Dream: Earl grey lavender. Light and floral. Feels like there’s more to the flavor that’s just out of reach unless you really sit with it. +180HP Goldie: Concord grape! Exactly how you expect it to taste. No surprises here, just juice. :D +120HP Mare: Perfectly-aged, smooth wine. Just the right amount of plum sweetness to complement the bitterness of the alcohol. Kyle & Nichole = Things were kinda awkward after their first and only date, but after a bit they were able to hang out and just be buddies again. They take turns giving each other rides to every Cows game and place bets on how well the local basketball teams are gonna do. Eventually Nichole starts believing Kyle when he says he isn't gay (Cartman kept gaslighting her for MONTHS even though he didn't have to).

Wendy & Butters = At some point Wendy finds out that Butters and Marjorine are the same person. She thinks it's weird that he infiltrated an all girls' slumber party for a piece of paper, but she understands that he only did it because the other guys pressured him and the two of them stayed on pretty good terms. He talked to her about how he genuinely liked hanging out with her and the gals that night and expresses wanting to do stuff like that again. She then invites him every time the girls get together as one big group and they all teach him songs like Lemonade Crunchy Ice. The guys make fun for him for it, but since when do they not make fun of him for anything.

Kyle & Butters = Kyle is kinda like the big brother of his friend group; he can't help it. He partakes in bullying Butters a little like everyone else, but he's always the first to speak up when things go too far. Countless times Butters has ended up just sorta embarrassed instead of completely traumatized because of Kyle sticking up for him. As time went on their soft spot for each other grew. Now Butters is just another member of the core group and there's nothing that anyone can do about it.

Heidi & Nichole = When Nichole first moved to South Park Heidi invited her to sit together at lunch since she didn't really know anyone yet. Fast forward years later and they've been talking to each other daily for longer than either of them can remember. They've helped each other through break ups, exams, life changing events, etc. and plan on being by each others' sides forever
