i really like how in your curlfeather conversation, she talks about Mistyfoot/Mistystar like they're two separate entities and not the same cat. Is this because of her dedication to be a "warrior" in the way the tags are described, or is it for other reasons?
It's her commitment to her sense of honor in the way described in the tags, and a reflection of the way she feels RiverClan (and her bloodline) had declined.
Mistyfoot had been strong enough to defy the code, when it was necessary. Leopardstar was a frothing mess in the Battle of the True Eclipse, so the great reveal that she had been assassinated to protect the Clan wasn't a shock to her-- it made sense.
It was clear to Curlpaw (age shuffle, she is slightly older in BB) that killing her had been a practical, rational choice.
The Code, to her, is a guideline and a tool. Honor doesn't come from the law; the law comes from honor. Good leaders can, and should, bend it when the future of the Clan is at stake. MistyFOOT was willing to make those tough calls when MistySTAR would work with the impostor, so her respect lays with a version of her grandmother she never met.
Curlfeather isn't quite a Traditionalist, but she isn't quite a Thistle Law supporter either. I understand her as a sort of Neo-Traditionalist, someone who greatly respects the law and the "old ways" of cultivating strength within the Clan, but believes that it these traditions must sometimes be broken in order to protect them. Functionally, she's standing with the Hard Traditionalists.
(Like Mudclaw many years ago, ultimately your personal beliefs don't mean much if you're willing to empower fascists.)

Not to get lost in the narratives and such, but I think it's a wild thing to take a young player with fire in his belly who will be the first to admit that he was never even the best player in his junior teams made it to the NHL it's because he clawed his way thru via any means necessary, and to tell him, I want you to look at this example of all things beautiful about hockey, and do everything exactly as he does it.
And how all of that, instead of breeding resentment can turn into devotion. I'm thinking of faith and how Bergy will be the first to talk about all the ways in which Marchy made his game better, of two people who pushed and balanced and completed each other, who worked so well because they were so different in so many ways, two people who would suck at being each other. And what happens when, you say now you take over. Now you lead, on your own.
And I guess I'm also thinking of that 22 year old with a chip on his shoulder who was told: you will never be the best player on ice as long as he is on the ice, so I want you to be second best.

Thinking about Margrace as Joshua's name post-Phoenix Gate.
Mar-grace.
In FFXVI the Undying choose their own names (Cyril explains this in-game), and many of them have names drawn from Final Fantasy XII, including their leader 'Margrace' himself, from Al-Cid Margrace. The page for Al-Cid notes that Margrace is likely an alternate form of the title 'margrave', an old title for military commanders on the border.
That aside. This is the name chosen (by the boy himself?) for the boy who should have rightfully been known henceforth as 'Your Grace', 'His Grace'.
Grace (style of address), from the Oxford English Dictionary:
With a possessive adjective: a title of respect, esp. for a person of royal or noble rank. Frequently (in 'your Grace') as a form of address. Now archaic or historical. Formerly (in England until the reign of Henry VIII and in Scotland until 1707) used for a monarch or prince; now replaced by Majesty or Highness. Even so, "Majesty" for the sovereign of England was not used exclusively; it arbitrarily alternated with both "Highness" and "Grace", even in official documents, until "Majesty" finally became the official style to the exclusion of others (source).
Grace (other meanings):
1. Divine favour, benevolence, or providence bringing about worldly benefit or advantage. 2. A person's lot, destiny, or fate; luck, fortune. 3. The quality of being pleasing; attractiveness, charm; esp. (in later use) refined elegance of manner, expression, form, or movement, esp. regarded as natural or effortless; gracefulness.
Whatever the etymology of margrave, the name Margrace in-game is probably meant to call to mind the meaning of 'mar' as in damaged, spoiled, ruined. All the grace that ever belonged to his family, his home, his birthright—marred, of course.
Mar+Grace, the last heir of the oldest unbroken ruling dynasty in the Twins at the time of the opening events of the game**.
The living ghost, carrying the desecrated corpse of his legacy in his new name. Introducing himself by his humiliation: "Hello, I am Margrace", "Hello, I am the ruined dignity of my house." "Call me Margrace", "Call me the wreckage of one fallen from divine favour." "My name is Margrace", "My name is blemished fortunes and diminished nobility".
It's appropriately brutal and dramatic for such a character, especially since the game is frustratingly silent on how Joshua personally feels about the loss of his duchy which is a rant for next time.
**Footnotes:
In the Year 860 (Prologue year/Phoenix Gate), Rosaria is about 260 years old (est. Y600). Older, if you count from the time of the Rose Alliance (est. Y550). The Rosfields have been on the Rosarian throne since the inception of the duchy in Y600, and prior to that House Rosfield was already known to be the chief of/the preeminent house of the Seven High Houses that united to found the duchy. House Rosfield has held ruling power for 260-310 years at a minimum.
For reference, England's longest-reigning dynasty was the Plantagenets, who held on for 300+ years. Rosfields aren't doing half bad!
Veldemarke would have been older had it not been overthrown by Barnabas; therefore Waloed is the youngest nation state at the time of the prologue (only 17 years old). Also we do not know much about the governance of Veldemarke, although as a 'kingdom' it was likely some type of monarchy.
Sanbreque was formed 100 years after Rosaria, and at any rate is not actually a hereditary monarchy. The Holy Emperor is voted into office by his fellow Cardinals, likely the five who form the Council of Elders. We are also explicitly told that Sylvestre 'won his throne' in 865; there is no indication either way that his predecessor emperor was a Lesage. The wording suggests the throne is not Sylvestre's by lineage or birthright. How this is supposed to relate to the concept of Sanbreque having a 'crown prince' (Dion) is unclear and contradictory, since an emperor by election should probably not have the authority to unilaterally decide on the succession of the throne, and his issue—legitimate or no—should not automatically be in the line of succession.
Dhalmekia is a republic with elected officials.
The Iron Kingdom apparently has a royal family, but nothing else is known apart from it being impotent and sidelined by their state religion.
The Northern Tribes likely do have hereditary rule, and Jill is referred to as a princess, but once again little is known.
Ergo—and I am ceaseless in this propaganda—Clive and Joshua are really, properly posh! Absolutely baffling that Anabella would allow anyone to put down the pedigree of her sons when they are so blue-blooded precisely because she is! For someone with such entrenched ideas of blood purity she should not stand for it, no matter how she feels about her eldest.
#sure i'll accept the game just gave josh this name because al-cid was from rozarria#but i like it to have additional meaning because it gives joshua depth#every time you say his name you call him a failure and a stain on his family's proud history!#how long is it until he can accept being called by his proper title#how long before it means something beyond a painful mockery or a reminder of weakness#i rather vehemently thought ffxv could have done more to showcase noctis' feelings as a king in exile#but ffxvi somehow manages to do bugger all for joshua#sorry xv i was too harsh on you#please stop creating royalty if there is no interest in exploring how that character relates to sovereignty and leadership#don't say oh but xvi did explore that with clive because yes i know they did but consider this clive is not rosaria's sovereign#ffx had no sovereigns in the main party and every relationship was solidly crafted#it's such a frustrating business because we literally know how so many other side characters feel about their kingship#yes you barnabas you made benna and sleipnir do all the talking at the consult where you were bored out of your mind lol#yes you elwin ready to send your 10-year-old into war for your people#yes you sylvestre you don't give a shit about the replaceable riffraff#we even know how martha and l'ubor feel about leading their little towns ffs#but we have only the tightly clenched fists and the cold shaking hands of a boy who died at ten#okay okay okay okay i'm not salty#ffxvi#final fantasy xvi#joshua rosfield

Suyin Beifong: The Strategist?
Suyin has a fascinatingly adaptive and acute mind for battle and strategy, which is quite underappreciated by the fandom for the brief time we have known her as a character. She is implied to know rare, obscure styles and techniques like Combustion bending. She is privy to their weak spot, as shown when she calmly and assertively tells the others of P'Li's weakness. That, or she was really into Uncle Sokka's stories as a child, which still hints at her being very attentive and good at retaining information. She is also self-aware and makes remarkably good use of her home turf even when under the pressure of her self-proclaimed impenetrable city being infiltrated. ['The Terror Within' Transcript] Asami: "There's no way to cross that moat." Suyin: [Looks up at the ceiling dome.] "We don't need to cross it. Lin and I can drop in from the dome on cables."
Tumblr media
Lin: [Sarcastically.] "That's a great idea. Except we'll get blown up the second that third-eyed freak sees us." Suyin: "She's a combustionbender. If one of you can stun her, her powers will be knocked out temporarily."
Tumblr media
Another example is during "Enter the Void," where she competently disputes with seasoned fighters and established leaders in Lin and Tonraq over the best action to approach the Red Lotus. Here, she makes crucial points about numbers, terrain, and how to safely and efficiently use their assets to their advantage. She even comes up with the plan they would execute later. ['Enter The Void' Transcript]
Tumblr media
Suyin: [Places an airship figurine in front of the temple.] "I say we make our approach from the west, drop down from the airship on cables, ambush these Red Lotus low-lives before they know what hit them." Lin: "It will never work. That Combustion Lady will pick us off one by one." Suyin: "You have a better idea on how to save the airbenders?" Lin: "Yeah. We come up from the valley, scale the side of the mountain and take them off guard." Tonraq: "That could work." Suyin: "And give them the high ground? No, if their lavabender spots us, he'll melt the mountainside and us with it."
Tumblr media
Suyin: "I think I figured a way to play this so that the airbenders and Korra all come out in one piece." Lin: "How?" Suyin: "Zaheer doesn't know how many of us there are, so we have the numbers advantage. I say we split into two teams: [Places the airship figurine on the temple.] Mako, Bolin, and Asami will take the airship up to the temple. [Places a Metal Clan figurine on a mountain.] Meanwhile, my metalbenders, Tonraq, Lin, and I will get in position below Laghima's Peak."
Tumblr media
I believe this is another underlying reason why Tenzin and Raiko were so adamant about her being the person to handle the Earth Kingdom situation beyond just her city's resources and her status as a Beifong.
Tumblr media
Even someone like Kuvira emulating her leadership and tactical qualities (and subsequently taking them to their logical extreme) after Suyin speaks volumes of her ability.

Heungmin said he's a bad captain for the umpteenth time in the spurs play interview, and I want to fight him but also comfort him at the same time!!!!
☹️☹️☹️ i haven’t watched the interviews but that makes me so devastated. it’s crazy to me because when lloris and kane were the captains we never had such an in depth discussion as a fanbase about captaincy and leadership but now sonny’s captain there’s so much pressure being put onto him? people need to work on their subconscious racism honestly, i never saw people criticising lloris and kane ONCE regarding captaincy (even though kane is a pretty shit leader all around and also had moments of disappearance during games). besides i think all we need to do is listen to the lads he’s captaining who have had nothing but praises to sing about him even when they’re not specifically asked to talk about it. i hope sonny knows that most of us love him as our captain and think he’s a good captain and that results like these don’t hinge on him not motivating the players enough or not setting an example or whatever he thinks he’s not doing. he’s been miles better than the captains we’ve had in the recent past imo ☹️🤍

J has a lot of unresolved anger festering inside her. It was often concealed due to fear of consequences in the mansion. In a household where expressing anger led to punishment, J learned quickly to surpress her feelings to avoid conflict or judgement.
J reacts strongly to minor annoyances due to her surpressed emotions, causing her to lash out at those around her. Most of her emotions are restricted in some way. She might appear collected but eventually that pent up anger needs to be released.
This type of anger accumulates when she consistently avoids or ignores her feelings, because she believes it is wrong to express her anger (mansion) or because she is unaware how to handle her emotions. Pent up anger generally festers, causing her to explode unexpectedly or manifest in passive aggressive ways.
Pent up anger often builds up when someone faces on going stress and frustration that feels beyond someone’s control such as work pressures or challenging family dynamics or unresolved personal issues (the treatment they faced in the mansion, isolated by Cyn from the others, gala incident).
When these feelings aren’t acknowledged or processed, it leaves her constantly irritated. Feeling bitter, jealous or resentful in that moment are common occurrences with her, eventually exploding in unexpected and harmful ways.
J does both suppress her anger and repress it. Suppressing happens when she actively pushes uncomfortable thoughts, feelings or memories away because she does not know what to do with them.
Repressed anger is unintentionally avoided. Often as an attempt to avoid uncomfortable feelings related to stress, conflict, and tension.
Her traumatic experience at the gala and everything afterwards play a factor in it. Confused and ashamed, J does blame herself for the incident (and falling for Cyn‘s manipulation later) causing her to have a lot of internalized anger.
J is attuned to her environment and what matters is survival. If the faults of a co worker reflect upon her as well, she will be strict and harsh.
Stress, a horrible work environment, abuse, the massacre, the only one who knows of Tessa’s fate, the deaths Cyn caused her and not getting a break from Cyn while she is the one getting the orders have been nothing but taxing on her - something she will then take out on those around her.

Leadership is a behavioral not a title 🖕🏽
Power is not controlling other people. Power is controlling yourself. Trying to control other people is the first sign that you are entirely out of control. Controlling others is what weak people think power looks like.

Just found out from Sopranos Autopsy that Junior misquotes Shakespeare on a couple of instances without seeming to know it.... that's such a brilliant character detail for a guy who's so wise and yet so, so, so dumb. Especially because no one picks up on the mistake, but only because they don't realize it's Shakespeare in the first place.

I genuinely think that today was my last time watching.
What was that strategy Mercedes. Genuinely robbed a podium chance. They cannot keep playing the strategy as if they are the fastest car anymore they are 3rd or 4th at best. They need vast improvement in the pit stops and communicating to their drivers.
I don’t think it was entirely Mercedes fault, but, as it seems they gave their drivers the wrong information about how long the rain was likely to last, they have to shoulder a lot of the blame. Idk, I feel like other teams have started looking upwards over much less egregious bouts of form. Binotto was ousted after a much less disappointing change of form, and I do think there comes a point where questions have to be asked of Toto. Two years of bad cars and bad strategies, with the drivers often proving the saving grace and carrying them through, he may be a shareholder but the ship is floundering with him at the helm and there has to come a point where he takes some accountability for that which I honestly don’t feel he does.
