from two months ago, when i was busy with my last ever finals (i meant to post this back then)!! my 3L hobonichi ended in march so i had to use the last few grid pages as a weekly schedule bc i wanted to keep the school year contained in one planner, which actually worked out great since i wasn't doing much everyday aside from studying....
#not me going to therapy back-to-back on the weekend bc my mental health was in shambles#i will NOT be missing law school lmaooo#if anything i miss college the most bc i took fun classes like art history and medieval history :((#tea-tuesday#studyblr#mine#studyspo#study inspiration#study#studying#study motivation#makeshift hobonichi#hobonichi#chaotic academia#chaotic academic aesthetic

wilson is like one of those bitches who puts nicotine patches on their partner in their sleep so that they’ll subconsciously crave their presence and associate their time together with the gratification of it. except instead of doing it sneakily, he openly (even reluctantly) exists as the main source of house’s vicodin prescriptions, not only providing him with the high but maintaining this pavlovian dynamic where he actively contributes to house’s pain relief & survival. he’s essentially his lifeline. and for the most part, he doesn’t even do it on purpose!!! because aside from the literal drug connection, that’s what his friendship is to house, too. what bonnie said about how wilson just tries to be a Good and Normal friend but ‘once you’re the subject of all that attention, it’s addictive’. in season 8, he says “I cannot be responsible for the happiness of gregory house.” and then has the audacity to look shocked when foreman replies, “You are responsible, though.” it’s like he’s painfully aware of their fucked up codependency but simply turns his face away from it. he’s even in denial until the very last moment, until it’s not only his upcoming death on the horizon, but the knowledge that they’re both free. I always found his smile after I’m dead, wilson’ a little chilling. because it feels like he knows what that means — the larger, lethal implications of house disregarding any worry about his own future — and only then is he done fighting it.
#sorry if this is incoherent#house md#hilson#house/wilson#james wilson#greg house#gregory house#I can see house doing the nicotine thing fr but I can’t see wilson doing it covertly#simply because he can never keep it quiet when he pulls off a covert little manipulation#he’s too proud of himself#most of the insane boundary-violating things that house has done he’s only done to satiate his own curiosity#but wilson does them specifically for house’s validation#like the antidepressant thing or the healthy eating#he knows house loves it when he’s a manipulative bitch#so he’d never keep it a secret#whereas house has probably violated every law of privacy towards him w/o ever mentioning it#I need to study them under a microscope etc etc#also can you tell that my personal experience is bleeding into this a little bit#I used to give my (prescribed) adderall to druggies for free in high school because it made them like me more 😬#and I gaslit myself into thinking I was doing them a solid / doing a positive thing#as if I wasn’t just depriving myself of medication that I needed as well as feeding the addiction of unhealthily high-reliant kids#processing my own issues via james wilson meta >>#I’m also now realising that this teeters into the horrors of mortality a little bit more than just doomed old man yaoi#i’m sorry i’ve spent a year in the hannibal fandom I forgor we’re not meant to casually drop references to percieved suicide pacts#between our blorblos

the implication in Trial by Magic that the Triad paid for Cole to go through law school instead of forging documents and doing some underhanded stuff to make him an assistant DA is frankly hilarious

10.24.24
- I kind of struggled today when it came to studying not gonna lie. I’ve enjoyed going back into my workbooks and taking notes/studying from those instead of repeatedly taking practice tests, but I feel like I still have trouble applying what I’ve learned
- I got through two chapters again, one in my PowerScore Logical Reasoning Bible about resolve the paradox questions, and one in my PowerScore Reading Comprehension Bible which I haven’t touched in a while cuz I feel like reading comprehension is my strong suit already
- I then decided to try and complete a logical reasoning practice section on LawHub, but I really struggled to get through it and didn’t do great when I ended up finishing it and seeing my results
- Idk if I’m burned out or what; I was on such a roll earlier this month and improving exponentially but now I feel like I’ve regressed
- It’s frustrating to feel like all my studying is not paying off even though I know it has in some respects because I’ve been doing well on some practice sections/exams. UGH why can’t things just be easy. I hate whoever invented this test lol
- I’m thinking of maybe using flash cards/quizlet with each question type on a card and tips/tricks I can use to approach them. I tend to memorize things better that way so maybe that’ll help
- I can’t let this test defeat me I am determined to beat it. I know I can get there I just have to be patient (which is not a strong suit of mine lol)
- I hope everyone is having a great day!

I feel like a less talked about phenomenon on #studyblr is the jealous sabotage-y friend that is always over your shoulder watching out for your "secret methods" and putting their foot out to watch you trip up.

recommendations of books! by ana
I read until I fall asleep
ʚ- All books im looking foward to read this summer! some non fic and fic hope you find something that interests you. its kinda long
ʚ- Almost all of them are tiktok recs the user of where i find the book will be in pink.
Book's:
Memoirs / essays
Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture : Cultural critic and bestselling author Roxane Gay has edited a collection of essays that explore what it means to live in a world where women are frequently belittled and harassed due to their gender, and offers a call to arms insisting that "not that bad" must no longer be good enough.
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone : From a psychotherapist, and national advice columnist comes a thought-provoking new book that takes us behind the scenes of a therapist's world -- where her patients are looking for answers (and so is she).
Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism : The author of the widely praised Wordslut analyzes the social science of cult influence: how cultish groups from Jonestown and Scientology to SoulCycle and social media gurus use language as the ultimate form of power.
Romance
Book Lovers : If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.
Seven Days in June : Brooklynite Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer, who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning literary author who, to everyone's surprise, shows up in New York.
science / philosophy
When god was a woman ; Here, archaeologically documented, is the story of the religion of the Goddess. Under her, women's roles were far more prominent than in patriarchal Judeo-Christian cultures. Stone describes this ancient system and, with its disintegration, the decline in women's status. Index; maps and illustrations.
It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle : A groundbreaking approach to transforming traumatic legacies passed down in families over generations, by an acclaimed expert in the field
Written in Bone: Hidden Stories in What We Leave Behind : Drawing upon her years of research and a wealth of remarkable experience, the world-renowned forensic anthropologist Professor Dame Sue Black takes us on a journey of revelation. From skull to feet, via the face, spine, chest, arms, hands, pelvis and legs, she shows that each part of us has a tale to tell. What we eat, where we go, everything we do leaves a trace, a message that waits patiently for months, years, sometimes centuries, until a forensic anthropologist is called upon to decipher it.
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents : If you grew up with an emotionally immature, unavailable, or selfish parent, you may have lingering feelings of anger, loneliness, betrayal, or abandonment. You may recall your childhood as a time when your emotional needs were not met, when your feelings were dismissed, or when you took on adult levels of responsibility in an effort to compensate for your parent’s behavior. These wounds can be healed, and you can move forward in your life.
feminism / law
Justice and the Politics of Difference : This book challenges the prevailing philosophical reduction of social justice to distributive justice. It critically analyzes basic concepts underlying most theories of justice, including impartiality, formal equality, and the unitary moral subjectivity. Starting from claims of excluded groups about decision making, cultural expression, and division of labor, Iris Young defines concepts of domination and oppression to cover issues eluding the distributive model.
The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler-Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 : Original, engaging and striking, Palestine – A Biography crosses historical events, never-before-explored archival materials and accounts of generations, dealing in a simultaneously sober and emotional way with the facts of a tragic confrontation between two peoples who claim the same territory.
Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny : Misogyny is a hot topic, yet it's often misunderstood. What is misogyny, exactly? Who deserves to be called a misogynist? How does misogyny contrast with sexism, and why is it prone to persist--or increase--even when sexist gender roles are waning? This book is an exploration of misogyny in public life and politics, by the moral philosopher and writer Kate Manne.
Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity : Since its publication in 1990, Gender Trouble has become one of the key works of contemporary feminist theory, and an essential work for anyone interested in the study of gender, queer theory, or the politics of sexuality in culture. This is the text where Judith Butler began to advance the ideas that would go on to take life as "performativity theory," as well as some of the first articulations of the possibility for subversive gender practices
Bodies That Matter: On the Discursive Limits of "Sex" : In Bodies That Matter, renowned theorist and philosopher Judith Butler argues that theories of gender need to return to the most material dimension of sex and sexuality: the body. Butler offers a brilliant reworking of the body, examining how the power of heterosexual hegemony forms the "matter" of bodies, sex, and gender. Butler argues that power operates to constrain sex from the start, delimiting what counts as a viable sex.
Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot : oday's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few.
Poem
Good Grief : When Brianna Pastor released her self-published poetry collection, Good Grief, she was blown away by the outpouring of support from people who reached out and said, “Yes. Me too.” For anyone who has struggled with questions of identity or coped with serious emotional issues, including grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression, this collection will help you find hope on the other side.
Instructions for Traveling West: Poems ; A vivid and inspiring poetry collection about what’s possible when we heed our instincts and honor our intuition, allowing ourselves to strike out for new territories of love, pleasure, and peace.
omg i just ove books xoxo ana

kavetham different meeting au where theres a sort of fair for people who want to study in the akademiya to get to know each darshan, yknow those college fairs? where they talk to you about universities and courses? like that. and the kshahrewar and the haravatat booths are next to each other and kaveh and alhaitham are responsible for them and despite having just met they bicker with each other all. day. every future akademiya student that passes through one of their booths might as well have passed through both because they will not stop arguing about which darshan is better and which one the people talking to them should go to. its a very amusing experience to all involved except for kaveh and alhaitham themselves. and anyways. nuisances to lovers
#inspired by real life situation in the university/career fair i am at rn with my school lmao#the sociology girl and the law school guy wouldn't stop bickering about which major was better it was so funny#not hinting romance between them though that's weird they're real people. it just reminded me of kavetham because i have brainrot#anyways yeah that's my pitch for a 200k words slow burn academic rivals to lovers rated M kavetham fic#kavetham#haikaveh#my posts#alhaitham#kaveh#also what i described might sound like the interdarshan but no that was focused on games this is focused on studying

My inability to storm through chapters half-assed-ly might get me in serious trouble. Although I recognise how limited the amount of time is to complete this lot of readings and notes , I still refuse to give it any less than my ninety percent. Now that's all good all good but I CleARly have time blindness and I get overtly enthusiastic about papers I should have cared about long ago.
The rest of the journey will be a cinema *faints*
