A lot of LoK's conflicts were basically the writers canonizing many of the fandom's big "what if" headcanons.

"What if the Water Tribes went to war with each other?"

"What if there was a dark Avatar?"

"What if there was an evil airbender?"

While some of these ideas were executed rather well, especially Zaheer's character, it still feels kind of cheap. Some things should stay in fan spaces.

They did the same thing with Altean Lance from the Voltron fandom.

She could lie. But nothing changes the truth even when she stays up all night, rocking back and forth, hoping something will. She made it out—no more running, no more hiding.
