Shout out to Tamora Pierce specifically for making her lead female protagonist have a crush on a friend, not act on it, and eventually out-grow that crush and feel grateful that she never said anything.
There are so few stories that affirm choices like that, that admit that feelings don’t always last forever and that choosing not to pursue romance is actually a very valid choice. I love the Protector of the Small series for a lot of reasons, but this is a big one.

figuring out how to get rid of screen addiction is like trying to figure out how to stop a nicotine addiction while also having a job centered around smoking cigarettes and having half your social life be in smoke breaks
#in the interest of staving off despair i am in my analog era fr !!#obv one size does not fit all but i’ve always liked having physical journals/planners!#i stopped using a physical planner for a bit but recommitted to it this year +#and i’ve been very very intentional about having a journal system to reduce my online time!!#actually it is working super well LOL i feel much more organized in my thoughts and i AM spending less time online!#i still feel deeply doom and gloom as a baseline but… it does kinda help to vent it.

You know people are like oh don't make baldness a punchline, it's mean to make fun of something people can't control. Which is true, and also we shouldn't be making fun of people's appearances at all regardless of if they can control it or not. But I think I am going to take a hard stance that we need to eroticize baldness and bald spots. Probably people already do that but I'm in sports fandoms so i mostly just see really unfunny jokes about hair loss. "Oh no he is going bald he's no longer attractive--" move out of the way and let the enlightened minds through. I am going to kiss that beautiful man all over his head and face and body and then we are going to **** while you cry into your morning coffee about how your lover who was lost at sea for so long is hairless after fighting great battles.
