Hitchhiking is always a bad idea part 2
Koushiro/Izzy and Joe try to hitchhike or even hail a taxi but they fail on the latter as they don't have any money. Yamato/Matt attempts to hitchhike and the car stops but since he's too handsome, the woman driver tries to pick him up. Thus, Yamato/Matt had to turn her down.
(Koushiro and Joe stand on the road, looking awkward as they try to hitchhike or hail a taxi.) Koushiro and Joe: Y-Yay... (The Chosen Children and even the Digimon partners laugh at the awkward pair. Koushiro and Joe look at each other nervously.) Koushiro and Joe: Ready, set... (Then, Koushiro and Joe dance around on the road, looking more silly than ever. Moments later, the taxi stops by. Unfortunately, the taxi leaves when the two boys realize that they don't have any money to pay the fare.) (Next came Yamato, who tries hard to look confident as the Chosen Children, the Digimon partners and Tsunomon look on with anticipation. As Yamato gives a hitchhiking signal, the car stops by. However, Yamato blushes so hard when the woman driver beckons him to hop into her car.) Woman Driver: Hi! Come on in, little boy... (Yamato silently turns her down. The scene cuts to Taichi scolding the embarrassed Yamato.) Taichi: Why did you say no?! Yamato: We couldn't fit into the car! (Taichi only grins deviously even though Yamato yelled into his face.)

Word Count: 536 Prompt: & Mimi A/N: Writing this one wasn't hard, per se. I do find Taichi and Mimi similar in their own ways, but I think in some ways I don't have as good a sense of Mimi in Kizuna era as I do some of the others. I tried my best with this whole "warehouse" idea, but I apologize, just in case. @taichiyagamiweek
"You weren't kidding." Taichi could hear his neck cracking as he tilted his head up to take in the warehouse's height. "Business is booming."
"Of course I wasn't, silly, this is my baby." Mimi giggled as she surveyed the warehouse full of goods for her business. "It took some time to get here, but I'm proud of the work I put in."
"As you should be." Taichi glanced over at his friend, smiling at just how happy she seemed to be. While he and Yamato had struggled to figure out what exactly they were doing with themselves and their careers, Mimi had always been more put together. She and Koushiro were both a year younger than him, but they seemed to be better at this "adulting" thing. It made him proud to be their friend. "You put in a lot of work here."
Mimi nodded and led the way further into the warehouse. "You said you wanted to find something for Hikari's birthday, right?"
"That's right. Figured you were the best person to call. Yamato isn't exactly gifted in shopping for sisters." Taichi and Mimi exchanged a grin as they surely both thought of what Yamato's reaction to such a statement would be. It probably would mean a bruise on Taichi's shoulder if he ever found out. Good thing Mimi was discreet.
"Naturally, you came to the right businesswoman. I might have just the thing." Mimi tapped her chin with her finger and led the way down the vast rows and rows of goods. Taichi got lost the further they went in, but he trusted his friend to lead him down the right path. And to eventually get him out of here.
"Found it!" she eventually called, waving him over. In front of her was an assortment of plushies, including a white cat that vaguely looked like Tailmon. "Isn't it just the cutest thing?"
"It really is." Taichi picked it up and inspected it from every angle. While Tailmon was sure to be embarrassed by the comparison, he knew Hikari would love it. Tailmon was her entire world, after all. (Besides him, that is.) "Thanks, Mimi. How much do I owe you?"
She waved him away. "Nonsense, you're my friend. In fact, I have one for you, too." Plucking a plushie delicately from the pile, she held it out. "Here."
He accepted the stuffed toy, gasping when he realized why she'd given it to him. The plushie looked like an orange dinosaur, though instead of the green eyes that Agumon had, its eyes were red. Still, Taichi smiled and cradled it, looking over at Mimi with misty eyes. "Thanks, Mimi."
"Of course." She was holding yet another plushie that vaguely resembled Palmon, petting its flowery head gently. "I figured… it's less painful if we still have them around in some way, isn't it?"
Taichi reached out and wrapped an arm around her in an awkward side hug. "They're perfect, Mimi. Thank you."
Smiling up at him, she shook her head. "No, thank you."
"For what?"
"For giving us the hope that we'll see them again. It's worth more than you could ever know."
Taichi held onto those words up until the day he saw Agumon again.

Taishiro x Some sensual advice from that other redhead
For @taikouvember 2023 - Day 7: Free day A prude Taichi and sexual innuendo ahem
A/N: What can I say? I like my Sora sassy and supportive when it comes to these boys. Oh, and very much skilled, heh… Taichi could learn a thing or two from her. A concept that has been sitting in my WIPs for YEARS and I finally had an excuse to write it :') It was a blast, hope you guys like it. Slightly nsfw-themed, you've been warned~ And shout out to @seventeenlovesthree and @darkened-storm for helping me get the dialogue on track :D Summary: Taichi is confused. Not knowing how to please his boyfriend, his confidence sinks and shame takes over. Luckily for him there's another redhead that has her ways of boosting his knowledge and courage.
Taishiro + Sora one-shot | Genre: sexual advice provided by a friend (so romance and friendship I guess?) | Characters: Taichi Yagami (POV) x Koushiro Izumi, Sora Takenouchi | Wordcount: 2.306

How to please your boyfriend by boosting your own personal confidence 101
Soft sounds of drizzling rain tapped on the thin roof, creating a dance on its own. The same dance was performed on the water of the lake before him, the shimmering of the moon reflecting on the water, shining a light on everything. Including his thoughts.
Confusion. Shame.
It was their first vacation as a couple and Taichi had wanted it to be special. Even with the presence of the other Chosen, he had been able to create little moments for just him and Koushiro. Like tonight. The mood had been right, the setting too. He had it all figured out in his head, but when the time to shine and act was there, Taichi froze completely.
He still heard Koushiro’s words, asking him if he was okay, his face all flustered mirroring Taichi’s own face. But where Koushiro was blushing from the rising tension, Taichi’s blush was from confusion and shame.
He had apologized and then excused himself only to run outside to think. Looking at the waves of the lake, his elbows being supported by the wooden railing. Trying to think, but all there was in his head, was a blank space and the last image of how he had left the room.
“Can’t sleep?” Came a female voice he knew all too well.
“S-Sora!” Taichi turned around, face red again. He felt trapped, especially with the image of his boyfriend popping up so vividly in his head mere nano seconds before Sora barged in.
“You look like I caught you doing something forbidden,” she said, one eyebrow raised and arms folded in front of her chest.
“H-How come?” He couldn’t help his stutter.
“The way you speak and stumble and…” Sora confirmed first, then pointed to his face, the grin on her face in place, “how your face is all red.”
Now he knew he was red all over and Taichi could only flash an awkward and uncomfortable smile. Words were far away.
“It also looks like you were in very deep thought. Something I can help with?” Sora asked as she closed in, just passing Taichi with an inch to lean on the same wooden railing Taichi stood against, her face directed to the lake.
“What? No! Nooooo no no, not really.” Taichi tried defending himself. He turned back around to face the water again like Sora, trying to relax his shoulders and face in the hope he would be able to hide his embarrassment. “It’s, erm— something I have to figure out myself…”
Sora looked at him, nodding understandably. “Okay, if that’s what you want…”
It didn’t sound genuine and Taichi felt she was trying something. He answered with a confirmative sound and for a minute he was convinced Sora would leave him alone.
“Does it have something to do with Koushiro-kun?” She eventually broke the silence, with that throwing Taichi off guard once more.
“W-What? Jesus Sor, since when are you so nosy and persistent?”
“Since when are you so shy about everything?” She fired back with ease. “I know you’re not good at talking about your feelings, or stuff at all, in that regard I’m not much different. But you were never a prude and you look like you’re hiding things from me that you can use help on!”
Taichi thought deep for a second, contemplating whether it would be a good idea to let her in.
“Okay then,” he said, eventually deciding on a yes. “One more question though.”
“Mmhm.”
“Why would it be about Koushiro?”
Sora smirked, making Taichi doubt his choice to let her in again.
“Heh, because the last time I saw you blushing like that was when we accidentally walked in on Koushiro-kun changing his clothes.”
His already red cheeks started to show even redder and Taichi felt like puking and crying all at the same time.
“And it wasn’t even that revealing… I can only imagine what you might have seen by now.” Sora continued with a wink.
“Sora!”
“You’re so easy, Taichi,” she teased. “Now quiet, you’re waking up the others. What can I help you with?”
Exhale.
“So erm… Koushiro and I…” Taichi started, his uneasiness masked by vague confidence. It only made him look more like a prude he thought to himself. “We… we did ehm… he tried… I…
“— tried to ‘satisfy’ him?” She filled in for him.
She was right.
“You could put it like that,” he replied, again able to at least breathe more steadily.
Somewhere, from there on, he had hoped the conversation would get easier and Sora would give him some sort of break, now knowing enough. Knowing she couldn’t help him with that. He himself could have known though that would have never been the case, especially with Sora being in this mom-mode.
“What did you do first?”
So Taichi decided to just go with it, answering her question as honest and confident as possible.
“We made out, like we’ve done more often by now.”
“Just lips and face?”
“Yeah, never further below the cheek line. We have also always kept our clothes on.”
“Hands exploring though?”
“Mhmm, just through fabric. But then…” Taichi stopped.
The images of what had happened came back to him like an old movie stuck on repeat. Sweat formed in the back of his neck and he swallowed in anticipation of Sora’s curiosity.
“Then what?” Her voice sounded warm and Taichi knew she felt he was struggling. A lot. It finally made him more at ease.
“Koushiro went quite low with one of his hands. He even went, well… you know…” he hesitated, “into my pants?”
“Koushiro-kun?” Sora’s expression changed from curiosity to a baffled one. Taichi felt that, he had been the same when he had felt Koushiro acting so focused and courageous, going after what he wanted.
“How bold of him, I had no idea,” Sora chuckled.
“Not into my boxers though! Just my pants.” He quickly added, not wanting to put Koushiro in that sort of light.
“Anyway, yeah. I think I flinched a little, I didn’t expect him to be like this, I always thought I would make that first step. It did turn me on though.”
“How much?”
Now she went too far.
“You can’t just ask that like that! That’s very private!”
“I bet you became stiff in seconds.”
Even further than too far.
“SORA!!!!!!!” He shouted quietly, his face not only red from embarrassment, but from sheer disbelief of his friend being that direct. He had no idea she could be like that.
“I know how a man’s body works, okay?” She responded with a collected calmness he could only admire, talking about all things sex like an expert working on her daily job.
“You don’t have to tell me how a man responds to physical touch like that. And I know how soft Koushiro-kun is, so him being that bold only makes it more arousing.” She said as he nodded confirmatively. “Taichi, you can’t hide that from me.”
“Fine.” Taichi sighed, for the umpteenth time deciding to let Sora in on this very private matter. “So what I did was responding with a hand of my own in his pants. But because I wanted to be first, I did go into his boxers and there I found his… ehm…”
“I get it, continue.” She nudged him to continue.
“So I took ‘it’ into my hand, but then…” Taichi bit his lip, finally at the point where it all had gone wrong. Where the confusion and embarrassment had first started and the redness on his face made place for a softer shade showing off how desperate he felt and still did.
“I just had no clue what to do with it.”
Sora looked at him. Her eyes were wider than before, surpassing every form of amazement and eventually her full body moved into a loud laugh that almost sounded manic. “Oh Taichi, you’re such a kid sometimes!”
His feelings of being desperate rose, accompanied by misplaced anger due to Sora’s laughing. It wasn’t funny! He wanted to straight up tell her that. But he couldn’t, instead furrowing his eyebrows and biting his lip, looking away like the kid she had called him out for. He waited for her to cease her laughing and he watched her wipe away a single tear from the corner of her eye.
“I take that you pleasure yourself?” She finally asked as she composed herself.
“Yes…” Taichi answered both annoyed and uncomfortable.
“Then you should know what to do, right?” Sora said with her tone back to her normal self again. She then continued with the same collectedness like before. “Start at the tip, then slowly—”
It infuriated him.
“Okay okay! I get it! God, I really hate your confidence…”
“You don’t.” She boldly stated. “Actually, you want another piece of advice. Am I right?”
She had said it as if it was the truth and she was indeed right. Even though she had laughed in his face, telling him he was bad at everything, that he was a little kid not knowing anything about all this, he still wanted to hear what she had to say. Because he cared about her opinion. Because he knew she cared about his and Koushiro’s happiness.
Because she was his friend. And an amazing one at that. Who else would listen to his failed sexual adventures and musings and actually give advice? He hated her for acting the way she did, but he loved her even more for the way she was able to help them in every possible way.
Not to mention, they –Koushiro, Sora and himself— had been pretty ride or die for each other as younger kids. And Sora was proving once more that she had not changed one bit, jumping through fire, even for his and Koushiro’s romantic shenanigans.
Not that he was going to admit that to her.
“Maybe…”
Sora smiled knowingly, a gentle hand placed supportively on Taichi’s shoulder. His eyes looked straight into hers. “I get that you forgot about this, since you can’t do this to yourself and Koushiro-kun is your first man, so you must have never tried this or have been able to practice, but… you do know you can use your mouth too to pleasure him, right?”
He had no idea why exactly she to look at him that intensely when telling him that, but it did help to make him see what he couldn’t figure out himself.
“Damn… you’re right.”
And he definitely forgot how easy it could be. Orally, of course…
“I know, just…” Sora shrugged, her fingers soft on his shoulder, her voice starting to sound more deep, the tempo going slower, making it more intense and.. sensual… “Go slow, make it sensual, while you’re at it, use your fingers to caress his lower stomach. When I do that to—”
“YOU CAN STOP NOW.” Taichi grabbed Sora’s wrist to get the hand off of his shoulder.
Sora smirked and giggled, her cheeks finally a little flushed as well. It didn’t compare to the heat in his own face.
“Taichi-san, where were— Oh hey Sora-san. What are you two talking about?” Came Koushiro’s soft and oblivious voice from behind them.
Taichi and Sora turned around to see Koushiro standing in the door’s frame, his head slightly tilted to the right like a confused puppy that wanted to join the conversation. It made Taichi flinch, blush intensifying and body tensing up. It was an overstimulation of his thoughts, Sora’s words and touch and Koushiro’s presence that made his head spin.
“NOTHING.” He managed to get out. It only earned him more confusion from his boyfriend.
So he looked to his right where Sora –who definitely seemed more calm than him— was standing, with just his eyes asking her to jump in. She nodded, showing him she understood.
“Like Taichi said,” she said with a very small apologetic bow towards her co-redhead. Then shifted her direction towards Taichi again, flashing him a final smirk. “Now if you excuse me, I have some unfinished business left to do in my bedroom.”
Taichi’s jaw dropped as he watched her pivot and sashay away, her hips swinging from side to side more than ever before, performing a choreography spotlighted by the light of the moon. He looked at her giving Koushiro a wink, one hand sensually placed on his chest as she gave both boys a “good night~” in the most seductive tone he had ever heard from a woman.
Taichi shook his head, with it trying to wake up from this weird dream he was in as Koushiro approached him after Sora had disappeared.
“She’s insane,” he concluded.
“I don’t get it…” Koushiro responded with soft confusion.
He was never able to explain this to Koushiro, as he would probably be way too rational about it. Taichi knew it was just better to show him to get his boyfriend out of his head. And so he thought back to his conversation with Sora, figuring out she wasn’t just telling what to do, but how to do it.
Confusion turned into understanding and knowledge. Shame became confidence and courage.
“It’s more fun when I show you~” Taichi purred, his fingers soft on Koushiro’s shoulder, his voice sounding deeper and more slowed down, making it all more intense and sensual. Just how Sora had showed him.
His hands travelled down Koushiro’s arm to grab his hand, intertwining his fingers with his to pull him with him back to their bedroom after they shared a passionate kiss underneath the moonlight that threw Koushiro off guard. And while making the journey to the said bedroom, knowing what he had to do once returned between the sheets with Koushiro, Taichi made a mental note to thank her in the morning for boosting his mojo.

Case 4 - Make it Double!
[AO3 version]
“W-wha-WHAT!? H-how can you tell it was me who did this!?” Ishida Yamato, 20 years old -- a newly adult, had to face the police for a strange reason: Someone invaded Taichi’s room, and witnesses (neighbors and Hikari) said to have seen him leaving the crime scene.
“How can you think it was him!?” Sora, his girlfriend and the same age as him by a month of difference, snapped at the officers. She also was Taichi’s friend so… “Is this some kind of a prank, because I did not like it!”
“... Is Taichi ok?” Yamato refused to believe it was him who invaded the Yagami’s apartment, so he hoped that no one had been hurt, “Hikari-chan? Mr. & Mrs. Yagami?”
Taichi was not at home that night. He was at work, and had plans to move out sooner. However, Agumon and Tailmon sensed something was off. They tried to intercept 'Yamato', but… They had no success. Hikari was about to say something right now, when she, Takeru and Daisuke saw the police interrogating him and Sora outside.
Hikari… Did not believe that it was Yamato at all.
“What happened?” Daisuke asked the other two with him, “Why are the police arguing with Yamato-san?”
“Someone invaded our house as Yamato,” Tailmon explained, “Everyone was fine and nothing was stolen.”
“Do you think this is related to that Arsenemon guy?” Takeru asked.
“Hm, probably… The ‘Yamato’ we caught last night had a subtle digimon scent…”
“Another shapeshifter digimon” Daisuke sighed, “I can’t believe more digimon can do this besides Bakemon, Arukenimon and Mummymon… What if he uses anyone-else-we-know’s face next time!?”
“It’s ok, Daisuke-kun” Takeru grinned, “We know each other enough to unmask a faker in the wild.”
“Eh? Really?” Daisuke pouted, “Then, when is my birthday?”
“I think saying it here, outside a safer place, would make Arsenemon know that information,” Tailmon shrugged.
“Oh, that’s right!” Chibimon and Daisuke said together.
“Should we talk with Yamato-san?” Hikari asked the mons and the boys, “I think we should take this case.”
“The others would help too,” Takeru replied, “After all, Yamato is their friend too.”
Yamato heard of the young six forming their own ‘detective club’ and decided to talk with them. Usually he would go ask Taichi and Koushiro for those, but… What if Taichi and Koushiro do not believe him?
“So… Yamato-san, where were you when this happened?”
It’s awkward hearing Ken and the others interrogating him, but he and Gabumon knew this was needed…
“I was with Sora at a band gig. We were going to play that night… Taichi refused my invitation because he had to work late, Koushiro and Jou said they were also busy. And I couldn’t bug you six knowing you had school the next day.”
“Those tracks,” Takeru nodded sagely, “Yamato told me about the gig, but he didn’t want us to stay late because of school.”
“Yes,” Hikari added, “I remember seeing Yamato-san talking to Taichi this morning…”
“Hmm” Iori was watching every gesture and phrasing Yamato said, trying to spot any flaw in it. But those felt legitimate, and Gabumon would know if that wasn’t the real Yamato after all…
“So Sora-san and you have an alibi,” Miyako stated, stroking her chin.
“Alibi?” V-mon blinked.
“It means like, ‘you have a claim or evidence that you weren’t involved in the crime scene’ “ Daisuke explained to V-mon and the other digimon who might not know that either.
“Daisuke-san really got the spirit of a detective,” Wormmon commented with the other digimon, who nodded in agreement.
“Did you notice anything wrong when you came home?” Ken asked the next question.
“If I remember well... Sora and I saw someone flying from Taichi’s building.”
“Flying huh?” Iori repeated vaguely, “Hikari-san, did you witness anything from your perspective?”
“Um… It’s true. Tailmon woke me up immediately saying there was a digimon inside, but… All I saw was someone like Yamato-san in Taichi’s room… And that ‘Yamato-san’ jumped out the window…”
“But we didn’t see where they went.” Tailmon added.
“Do y’all think it’s… that Arsenemon guy from the calling card thingy?” Armadimon asked them all.
“Arsenemon?” Gabumon and Yamato blinked.
“Some digimon-thief who popped in stealing jewels” Daisuke replied with a shrug, “The police asked our help to deal with him, sorta.”
“The police might not know that a human cannot survive jumping straight out of the 13th floor” Ken mused, “So it’s definitely a digimon.”
“But… How can we clean Yamato’s name?” Gabumon asked a little hesitantly.
“Catching the fake Yamato guy,” Daisuke said seriously, glancing at the others, “Right?”
“Yes/Yeah!” they all nodded.
Espimon was lurking outside with her camouflage on -- which means not only she was “invisible” but also had blocked all of her presence for the other digimon. After listening to the entire convo between Yamato and the 02 Team… She had to retreat and talk with Arsenemon.
But… Where’s Arsenemon now? Was he really the one who invaded the Yagami family’s apartment?
“Boss! Boss!!” She contacted him via her communicator, while flying high in the sky, “There’s some big big NEWS!!”
“Hm?”
“Seems like someone invaded one of the Chosen Children’s homes and used one of them as a disguise!” she said, then… “Weren’t you, right boss?”
Arsenemon bit his lip. So, there’s someone targeting those kids too huh…?
“You know my Modus Operandi , Espimon. I don’t recall visiting any of the Chosen Children last night.” he replied nonchalantly, “Besides, we were together studying how to catch the next piece from that facility.”
“Oh… Right…”
“Sigh… Let me guess, you’re asking that because those kids think it was me, right?”
“Aye, boss!”
He was aware of this going to happen the moment he arrived and stole that broken gem. Also, he was pretty aware that those kids had one of the pieces, but he would rather talk to them first than going to steal it. But now… with another thief…?
“Should we do something, boss?”
“Heh, you know I can’t let them think bad things about me. A healthy rivalry is better than turning them into our actual enemy.”
“There’s someone walking around with Yamato’s face huh…” Taichi squinted his eyes at Hikari and Daisuke, “One Yamato is enough, but two of them!?”
“I know it’s you’re not working late today, Taichi-senpai but… Please, can we have your help?” Daisuke asked politely,
“No I mean… I don’t want someone pretending to be Yamato and giving him a bad name! He doesn’t deserve it.”
“We will help,” Agumon nodded, “Right, Taichi?” and the young adult nodded in return.
“So, what do you plan to do?”
“It’s easy,” Tailmon then explained their plan to catch the ‘fake-Yamato-mon’ (as Daisuke nicknamed it) and they went into action.
The group parted ways, and then Hikari and Daisuke hid behind a column from the building’s parking lot. Ken and the others were also hidden. But what was the plan? You’ll see it.
Taichi and Agumon walked back to the building’s entrance, and then they noticed Yamato walking there, without Gabumon. Taichi knew someone went after him last night according to Hikari’s report, so he was trying to buy the younger kids’ some time.
“Yo Yamato,” Taichi waved at the other, “I’m sorry that I couldn’t go to your gig last night. Are you upset?” The other’s silence was… terrifying “Man, you don’t need to be that cold! Hey, you’re not like that! You’re kinda an emotional bomb fuse who would yell at me everytime I’m insensitive.”
“Taichi,” Agumon stared at Yamato and stood in front of Taichi, “It’s him, the digimon who invaded your room last night.”
“We caught you… Bakemon.”
Ken’s voice echoed through the parking lot, and Stingmon appeared from behind the fake-Yamato-AKA-Bakemon. Bakemon dodged the attack and seemed frightened by having his whole scheme ruined.
“H-How did you know!?” Bakemon stared at the 02 group popping from behind the corners and pillars from the area. He changed back to his real form.
“Because,” Ken smirked, “You can shapeshift into anything you desire, and that I had used this trick before when I was the Kaiser. You’re one of the remaining Vamdemon’s minions right?”
“Tsc! As if! I have huge petty grudges with this broom hairdo!”
“W-what did you just call me!?” Taichi snapped.
“THIS HUMAN JUMPED ON ME AND PUNCHED ME WHEN HE WAS A TINY KID! I LOST MY JOB AND COULDN’T EVEN RETURN TO THE DIGITAL WORLD!” Bakemon growled, “This human is the reason I have to shapeshift into humans and human-like animals in order to survive!”
“A-ah… H-he… Senpai, you… You punched a digimon?!” Daisuke blinked.
“It was a long time ago! A-also you were kidnapping the entire Odaiba in order to murder my sister!”
“He got a point,” Takeru shrugged, “You have no reason to complain about that. You were helping Vamdemon after all.”
“How didn’t you try to murder Taichi-senpai this whole time then, why only now?” Daisuke squinted his eyes at Bakemon.
“I had no time for that before! I’ve been chased by dogs, cats, birds, human toddlers…”
“He sucks at being a killer, ok” V-mon nodded sagely, just like the others.
“A-are you making fun of ME now!?”
“The mystery is solved,” Miyako declared with a grin, “Now time to surrender and get sent back to the Digital World!”
“... Can I… return?” Bakemon’s eyes were filled with sparkles of hope and watery eyes.
“Y-you are… CRYING!?” Patamon exclaimed.
“I’ve been stuck in this filthy world for so long I wanted to go home, so please send me back!!”
“I think he was trying to murder Taichi-san to call for our attention” Iori commented on it with the others, yet using his usual poker face.
“This thing is getting weirder and weirder…” Taichi muttered.
“Can I go home or not!?” Bakemon was pleading.
“Yes, you can go,” Ken nodded, “But first I’d like to ask you a question.”
“Hm?”
“Do you know someone called ‘Arsenemon’ by any chance?”
“Arsenemon?” Taichi, Agumon and Bakemon repeated in confusion.
“I think that’s a legit reaction” Iori chimed in, “Bakemon’s motives might be just trying to take revenge on Taichi-san, and not to steal that gem.”
“I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?” Armadimon said with a frown.
Suddenly, Tailmon saw something standing in the shadows and laughed. But not a maniac or menacingly laugh, just a very innocent and seductive tone.
“Where--” Miyako asked, looking around, as the rest of the group, until Tailmon pointed at the entrance to the parking lot.
“My, you did think I’d attack you?” Arsenemon’s voice was indeed smooth, “I don’t want to mess with the legendary Chosen Children.”
“Who are you!?” Daisuke shouted, and everyone glared at Arsenemon.
“I’m the elusive phantom thief you’re asking about. Might say I don’t like to hurt anyone, and I prefer to give you humans a chance to catch me.”
“Like a legit phantom thief” Iori whispered, but he was a little fascinated by it.
“So you mean… that you leave those notes beforehand?” Ken thought aloud, “And since we didn’t get any notes…”
“ Exactement mon ami, So please don’t lump me with those criminals.”
“Why did you steal that broken gem??” Ken asked one more question, “What is this ‘Grand Treasure’ you mean?”
“That will be answered once I get them all. Well, since you managed to catch the real culprit I’m leaving. Au revoir, Chosen Children . ”
The kids ran after him, but they saw no one there anymore. The group wasn’t sure what happened at all, but they just decided to let it pass. Then they opened the Digital Gate and sent Bakemon back, but for one single condition: To never cause any harm again.
Bakemon agreed with it and promised to never get involved with villainous digimon again.
The news on TV and digital devices started to be handy for the 02 Team, as they were using it to learn where Arsenemon would appear next. Or when they would receive a calling card.
The mystery has just started…

Meant for Romance
Word count: 1,893
Part 1/1
Pairing: Taishiro (past Koumi)
Read below the cut or on ao3
Summary:  “So let me get this straight,” Miyako says, swiftly biting into her toast. “You got sloppy drunk on a Tuesday and hooked up with your hot best friend. He let you sleep in his bed overnight and brought you breakfast.”
“And now you’re here, having breakfast with me,” Miyako says with a bored sigh, “When you could be having a coffee-flavored makeout sesh with your hot best friend.”
Heavily implied nsfw. Lots of awkward. Humor maybe? Largely fueled by too much coffee at 4 a.m.
So warm.
Koushiro doesn’t remember ever feeling so cozy in his life. He knows he needs to get up soon — the morning sun on the other side of his eyelids beckons him to start the day. But sleep is still within his grasp, and his pillow smells so nice, like sage and bergamot and mint. He recognizes that scent, though he can’t quite place it, but his brain supplies him with hot breaths on his neck and a husky coo of his name.
Koushiro shivers, pulls the cotton sheet under his chin, and revels in the way it drags across his skin. His skin. All of his skin.
Eyes snapping open, Koushiro jolts up. The sheet, having fallen to the tops of his thighs, answers his first question, but — Where the hell am I?
He remembers Mimi, her pretty hair pulled back, making her deep-set frown stand out even more. She told him it wasn’t working out, that there’s someone else, that this just wasn’t doing it for her anymore. I wasn’t doing it for her at all.
He remembers calling Taichi, desperate and agonizing. Taichi saying he’d be there in 30 minutes. Taichi hailing down a cab to take them to a bar where “the drinks are cheap and totally worth it.” Taichi making him feel better instantly with big grins and fond laughter because that’s what friends do.
Spotting his clothes loosely folded on the desk chair across from the bed, Koushiro moves hastily and slips his underwear on, left foot then right foot. He knows he told Taichi about the breakup. Well, it wasn’t really a breakup, considering he and Mimi had never put a label to what they were doing, which wasn’t much.
Koushiro was busy, and Mimi was needy. She needed things from him that he couldn’t give. They’d tried to engage in sexual activities exactly twice, and neither time could Koushiro perform. It was something that embarrassed him to no end because he liked Mimi and he thought she was cute, but for the entire 8 months they were seeing each other, his body just wouldn’t respond.
Taichi spent most of that conversation listening, Koushiro realizes now, and he never poked fun or judged him. He loves that about Taichi. He’s working on the fourth button of his white dress shirt when his eyes dart to a Polaroid photo propped up on the desk. In the bottom right-hand corner reads ‘The Yagamis 2002.’  Nonononono.
And it hits him like a bullet train. Rough hands, harsh lips. Hips colliding, hot with need. Smooth, sun-kissed skin everywhere. Taichi over him, eyes wide and lips swollen. “Perfect. You’re so perfect.”
“Fuck,” Koushiro stutters, palms suddenly clamy. He’s got both legs in his pants, pulling them up in one swoop, and he hears the door unlock. Fuck.
“Hey, you’re awake!” Taichi says, smiling. At least, Koushiro suspects he’s smiling, but he doesn’t want to know. He can’t bring himself to look at his friend. He hears a rustle of plastic and something heavy hitting the table, but his mind can only focus on slipping on his socks at light speed.
“Sorry to leave you alone,” Taichi sounds sincere. It makes Koushiro feel worse. “I didn’t have much in the fridge, so I ran to the convenience store down the street. I grabbed that bottled Oolong you like. I hope eggs and — you’re leaving?”
“Sorry, Taichi-san. I have to go.” And Koushiro is out the door, leaving Taichi to stand alone in his little apartment.
***
He’s not sure where he’s going, not exactly paying attention, but he spots a park and some familiar treelines, and he manages to make it to a door, knocking furiously.
A beat passes, and he knocks again.
“Jesus, what!?” Miyako says, whipping the door open and looking like she just rolled out of bed. She eyes Koushiro, his tousled hair, frazzled expression, and haphazard outfit.
“Either you’ve met a very unfriendly tornado, or you’re doing the walk of shame,” she says, causing Koushiro to flush from the neck up. “Ah. Walk of shame, huh? Come in.”
The next 20 minutes are filled with Miyako filling her toaster and putting on a pot of coffee while Koushiro relays the previous night’s events with record speed. He’s beet red.
“So let me get this straight,” Miyako says, swiftly biting into her toast. “You got sloppy drunk on a Tuesday and hooked up with your hot best friend. He let you sleep in his bed overnight and brought you breakfast.”
She pauses to look directly into his soul, and Koushiro would like nothing more than to simply pass away.
“And you panicked.” Miyako’s tone is pointed, but when she doesn’t immediately continue, Koushiro opens his mouth to reply in uncoordinated hand gestures and wordless exasperation. He nods instead.
“And now you’re here, having breakfast with me,” Miyako says with a bored sigh, “When you could be having a coffee-flavored makeout sesh with your hot best friend.”
“It’s not like that!” Koushiro defends. Taichi was his very first friend and probably his closest friend — there was no way he could jeopardize that. His failed attempt at a relationship with Mimi was proof enough that Koushiro isn’t meant for romantic endeavors of any kind.
“I just got out of a relationship!” Koushiro pleads, but Miyako’s expression is solid. She’s not buying this for a moment. Softer, Koushiro says, “And Taichi is my friend. I don’t want to take advantage of him.”
“He obviously didn’t mind,” Miyako, says, annoyed and unimpressed with Koushiro’s half-hearted explanation. Koushiro grunts and looks down at the kitchen counter — he’s not entirely sure he believes himself. Miyako sighs again, this time with a hint of sincere tiredness woven in, and saunters toward her bedroom. “Tragic.”
***
The drive to the office is mostly silent, except for Miyako’s intermittent humming to whatever song is playing on the radio. Koushiro can’t make out any of the words over the sound of his heart thrumming like an upright bass in his ears. Miyako doesn’t seem to notice.
It’s times like this when he truly appreciates her — hiring Miyako as his assistant director was one of his best decisions. She always sorts him out when he gets too caught up in the details. Which is probably why he randomly showed up at her home this morning.
They’re walking into the building, and Miyako greets the receptionist quickly, shielding Koushiro from anyone passing through. He looks a mess, he knows, and Miyako’s being kind by attempting to uphold his reputation. She walks him all the way to his office, reminding him to pull the curtain over the glass windows by his door. She says to find her when he’s done.
It was also Miyako who mothered him into keeping spare clothes at the office after one too many all-nighters. “You look like a trash panda, honestly.”
The morning goes as usual, answering emails, IMing Miyako about the slides for their monthly report. He doesn’t notice when noon rolls around. He doesn’t pay attention when his office door opens, or when the sound of rustling plastic makes its second appearance today.
“Koushiro,” comes a soft voice. Koushiro’s fingers hover above his keyboard and a shiver runs down his spine. “Koushiro,” Taichi says again.
He knows he needs to respond but he can’t pull himself away from his safety net just yet. His fingers touch down on the keyboard again, and he exhales shakily.
“Hello, Taichi-san.”
“I was worried you didn’t eat, so I brought you lunch,” Taichi says quietly. It’s unlike him, and it breaks Koushiro’s heart. He knows he’s being selfish. He knows he should acknowledge his friend, but —
“Koushiro, please,” Taichi says, voice sadder now, a tinge of anguish in that last word. “Can we please talk?”
Koushiro freezes again. He’s so utterly fucked and completely inexperienced in all aspects of what’s sure to unfold here. But Taichi sounds hurt, and he doesn’t want to be someone who hurts Taichi.
He swivels around in his chair, facing Taichi on the sofa but looking at the ground where the toe of his shoe meets the wood floor. He wants to say something, taps his foot a few times, and finally looks up.
“Taichi-san, I —”
“What the fuck?”
“Huh?” Koushiro says, caught off guard. Mimi is storming into his office, face fire-engine red.
“You cheated on me?!” She squawks.
“Excuse me?” Koushiro musters because this is his ex, and his mother taught him to mind his manners, but he feels offended.
“Sora heard from Yamato that you slept with someone last night!” Mimi is causing a scene. A few of Koushiro’s colleagues have poked their heads into the hallway outside Koushiro’s office.
“Did you know about this? Who is she?”
She’s addressing Taichi now, who sinks deeper into the sofa and looks like he might combust, and Koushiro’s blood is boiling. He stands, moving into her line of vision.
“Mimi-san, I hardly think anything I did last night could be considered cheating as we never defined the exclusivity of our relationship and you said there was someone else.” Koushiro says with as much confidence as he can. “I think that gives me the right to do as I want.”
Mimi stomps her foot and raises her arms, ready to shout a thousand expletives, but Miyako is through the door and in Mimi’s face like a forcefield.
“Good afternoon, and welcome to Izumi Corporation. My name is Inoue Miyako, and I’m the lead director of team shut down. As in, I’m shutting this down immediately,” Miyako says, straight faced and with her kindest customer service voice. The first-floor security guard stands just outside Koushiro’s office, already escorting Mimi out. Miyako follows after them, stopping in the doorframe. “Thank you for your visit to Izumi Corp! Have a nice day!”
She smiles and waves, and Koushiro feels like he can breathe again. He has know idea what just happened, and his head is pounding. Miyako’s smile falls, eyebrows pull together, and from the doorway, she points her finger at Koushiro and yells, “I expect a raise!”
She shuts his curtains, slams the door behind her and disappears after that. Koushiro’s mind would normally leave the train station in 50 directions at once, but he’s just stunned. He turns, hoping to find Advil in his desk drawer, and — Taichi!
“Taichi-san, I’m so sorry,” Koushiro turns around to face him, and it’s all he can do because Taichi doesn’t deserve any of this. Taichi is looking at him unexpectedly, reaches a hand up to scratch at the nape of his neck and smiles slightly.
“So,” Taichi says and pauses, looking at the table, “lunch?”
Koushiro stares in awe. Taichi smiles and after a beat, looks up and says, “And maybe we can start this day over?”
They spend the rest of the afternoon talking, and Koushiro apologizes with his entire being. For the event with Mimi. For leaving him. For being so cold. Taichi reassures every “I’m sorry.” Taichi says it’s okay because he doesn’t expect the world Koushiro. Taichi is his best friend. Taichi would like to try last night again. Today, preferably, with less alcohol, but he isn’t pushing.
They weathered a year’s worth of drama in a single day. Koushiro is still breathing, and Taichi still smiles at him like Koushiro is the sun. And maybe Koushiro is meant for romance.

12 for Takari?
OOOH GOD, I really had issues over how to write this one, but I finally managed to do it.
I think it turned out pretty well all things considered :). I really hope you like it.
Send me ask & MasterPost
I am pregnant
“She used to say that the human heartbeat was the first music that a person heard, and that every child was born knowing the rhythm of her mother's song.”
― Kate Morton
She’d been feeling sluggish lately. It was nothing out of the ordinary and she blamed it to work since she’d been having some rough days recently. She should have seen it coming when she enlisted to help out at the ER onJou’s request. The Koushiro Incident was the cherry on top of the day. Jou had decided to save his opinions out of consideration for his old friend, but she had caught him trying to keep himself from laughing several times after the whole incident was over.
Who would have imagined that coconut oil could cause so much trouble?
Yamato and Taichi had been way too drunk to remember most of the incident, but Takeru who had been the chaperone during the bachelor party had witnessed everything and she had caught him writing something in his notebook at the hospital cafeteria later that night. He hadn’t told her what it was, but she was slightly suspicious that her dear husband was actually recounting the whole incident to use a funny story to retell in the future. Fortunately, Koushiro’s little problem had been solved with some epinephrine and steroids and they hadn’t had to lament any losses.
Still Hikari didn’t remember ever feeling this off, not even during her internship time, and those days had been the most tiring of all
“You’re not looking too hot,Yagami. You okay?” Yoshinori-san, the head nurse of the ER said.
“Yeah...I’m feeling a little tired.”
“Tired? Well, yeah. It’s been busy lately, isn’t it?” Yoshinori-san said with a nod “But you should talk to doctor Kido. There seems to be a cold bug going around. I’ve seen a lot of people with cold symptoms coming in.”
“Yes, I don’t think it is a cold. I don’t feel feverish…” Hikari said, feeling her forehead “but I will ask Jou-senpai to be sure. Thank you, Yoshinori-san.”
Jou was sitting in his office with a face that did not hide his exhaustion; he rested his head over the desk wondering if he could spare a couple minutes of sleep when he heard a timid knock on his door. Hikari was standing in front of the door with the same tired look that he had, holding two steaming cups in his hands.
“Oh..hey…” Jou said, fixing his glasses back in place.
“Hey, long night, huh? I brought you something and I know, I asked for soy milk...don’t worry.” she added when Jou was about to comment. Her childhood friend smiled and accepted the cup, enjoying the comforting warmth between his fingers.
“Long... That’s an understatement…” Jou coughed “Never had I imagined I’d have to attend one of my friends in such...curious condition.”
Hikari giggled.
“And even less that that friend would be Koushiro-san.”
“Yeah...I could have expected it from Taichi or Daisuke; hey even Yamato, but Koushiro?” Jou snorted, taking the cup to his lips. He had expected coffee, but to his surprise, it was tea.” Oh, not coffee today?”
“Uh...yeah, sorry. I intended to get you coffee, but the smell just made me feel sick.”
That couldn’t be right, Jou thought. He put down the cup and looked at the woman sitting in front of him with an inquisitive look. He had known her for almost all his life, and he was well aware of her fragile health. Though it had improved considerably in the last few years, worrying and sounding an alarm at the slightest hint that she wasn’t feeling alright had become a habit of his.
“Sick?”
“Yeah, I haven’t been feeling too well lately” she said casually. Hikari leaned on the desk and began pressing her temple. A mild headache was starting to hit her, and it was making her feel a little dizzy and lightheaded “I guess it might be fatigue. I mean, I’ve been so tired lately.”
“Well, the ER is a busy department…” Jou admitted “but still, when it comes to you...sometimes it is better to be safe.”
She somehow knew that he’d said that. Well, she’d come ready to receive an impromptu health examination from the start, so she didn’t complain.
“So...nausea?” Jou asked.
“Yeah, pretty often lately and very sporadic.Strong smells make it worse.”
“Fever? Coughing?”
“No, normal temperature, I think?” she shrugged “I mean it's mostly fatigue, nausea, dizziness and mild headaches…”
Jou was writing down the symptoms in a notepad, when a sudden thought hit him.
“Hikari-chan...when was your last period?”
Jou and Hikari looked at each other for a moment. SInce both of them had been working together regularly and were very professional, their expressions were serene. However, it didn’t make the silence less awkward.
“Eh...last month?” Hikari said, unsure “I can’t remember. I think I am a little late this month, but I’ve never been regular so…”
“Well, in your situation...I wouldn’t scratch the possibility. Let’s run a test, just to be sure shall we?”
The hCG test results arrived faster than Hikari had expected and Hikari suspected that Jou might have used his influences in the lab. Her friend entered the office with a stoic expression.
“So?” Hikari asked expectantly.
“Eh, yeah...I think we need to make a quick stop at imagenology, Hikari-chan.”
Hikari was speechless and for a brief moment considered pinching herself to make sure she hadn't fallen asleep in the nurses' room and was dreaming.
Jou smiled and handed her the lab result. Written in small letters  said Positive and next to the result was a scribble that Hikari recognized as Jou's handwriting: "Congratulations, you're going to be a mom!"
The events that followed this revelation were like a blur: Jo accompanied her to the imaging department, and the day's surprises (including Koushiro's unexpected visit to the ER) weren't ending.
Hikari was not only 11 weeks pregnant, but there were two small creatures growing in her womb and they both looked perfectly healthy. The girl could not contain her tears when she heard the small and rapid heartbeats of the two little ones.
“Well, look at that…” Jou grinned, as they walked back to the ER “Two little ones, huh? I can’t imagine Takeru’s face when you tell him.”
“Nor can I…” Hikari giggled, looking at the photo she was holding. A photo of her two babies.
“I can’t imagine Yamato nor Taichi’s faces either…” Jou laughed “Especially Taichi’s. I think he’s still in denial about the fact that you’re married and what that implies…”
Hikari laughed. Taichi was going to lose it and poor Takeru would be the victim, but maybe Yamato would give him a hand. She knew that once the shock had passed, Taichi would be overjoyed by the news.
“So how are you planning to tell him?”
“I think I might have an idea…”
It was later that day, when her shift ended that she snuck into Takeru’s study and scanned the ultrasound into his laptop and set it up as his desktop image with a tiny little sticky  memo with one single sentence:Look at what we made.
She was in the kitchen when she heard the chair fall down, and patamon screeching desperately asking if his partner was ok? She simply smiled and rested her hand over her abdomen.
From all the surprises she got that day, this was definitely the best one yet.

Chapter eight
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Please tell me you're kidding!"
-'-
During the last couple of weeks the redheaded girl's surroundings had changed dramatically. From having her two guy friends to joke and chat with, it had gone to comforting Yamato (without progress) and keeping him company, to being stuck in the extremely awkward space between the guys, to witness them being more than friendly all of a sudden, to see Yamato fall into depression, to be the loyal and comforting friend telling Yamato that being gay isn't the end of the world, to get stuck in an even more awkward space between them, to listen to Taichi's endless wining about the other avoiding him, and finally being the one to tell the brunet to give up.
Taichi blinked innocently –well, he would've looked innocent if he'd been able to wipe the grin off his face- tilting his head slightly to elucidate that he had no idea what she was talking about. The truth is that he actually didn't.
"What?" came the surprised and slightly hesitant reply.
"You think I'm stupid? You think I'm too blind to see? Tai, it's written all over you! What the hell did you do to him?"
Taichi's eyes darkened and his grin suddenly disappeared. Then he sighed and shook his head. "Sora, don't jump to conclusions, alright? It wasn't me this time."
Sora's amber eyes narrowed as she studied his face suspiciously. "What do you mean?"
Taichi's grin returned and his eyes lit up, making him look like a dog receiving a bone. (A/N: no bad thoughts here, people!) "He wanted me. He wanted me, not the other way around! Well… 'course the other way around too, but… Sora, he came on to me. And we-"
"Again?"
Sora buried her face into her hands, shaking it dramatically. She looked up again, staring at him with devastated eyes. "Tai, how could you let that happen?"
Taichi raised his eyebrows. "Wha…? No, you don't get it –this is a good thing!"
Sora snorted, turning away from him and started pacing back and forth. She suddenly stopped and turned to him again. "How?"
Taichi looked up and blinked, opening his mouth to respond. Before he could she interrupted him. "How is this a good thing? Are you two friends? Are you dating? Do even give a shit about each other?"
"Sora, calm down… this isn't another mistake, or another crisis. It's just sex, damn it! We both wanted to, no one got forced. Everything's fine." He grinned again, throwing his arms out. "I'm happy! See?"
She looked at him with a mix of contempt and disbelief, but she couldn't find anything fake in that smile, so she sighed, giving up.
"Alright. I guess I should believe you." She threw him another doubtful look. As weird as it seemed, she couldn't force herself to think that he was lying. Taichi couldn't lie about being happy. If he was, it shone right through him. The tanned boy could however lie about being miserable. He was very good at throwing on a happy face. Sora had known him for long enough to see the difference between the happy face and actual happiness.
But there was still one thing to worry about.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Thursday 1.55 P.M.
Walking through the hall, carrying a thick textbook in a hideous mix of sage-green and purple, wearing a blank expression that stopped most eyes from noticing him, Yamato Ishida was on his way to his locker. Some heads still turned, perhaps two or three, which was a small number considering the overfilled corridor of chattering teenagers. Most people had forgotten the rumor that had started three weeks ago. Yamato was finally invisible again.
School had been working surprisingly well this day and he had for once been able to keep his focus throughout the classes. He hadn't even back-talked Mr Watanabe, which surprised both his teacher and him.
The only times he spent in the hallway he knew Sora and Taichi would be in, was when he had to get his books for class. But he had still managed to avoid talking to them or being spotted.
The two football-players' absence didn't really bother him, and he didn't feel any need to talk to either of them. The fact that he'd practically spent the whole day alone with hardly anyone to talk to, was something he hadn't bothered to think of. Nor did he mind everyone ignoring him. This new understanding he had with Taichi was probably the main thing to keep him from losing his mind, plus it was way better than jerking off. He was finally free from all the drama, the angst, the painful desire and shame. Now all he had got to do is start living again.
Reaching his goal, he opened his locker and put his book back. The area he was currently standing in was the one with the highest risk of meeting one of the football players. Yamato had no shared classes with either one of them today, and he was glad to have escaped any needless trouble.
Walking towards him, listening to some loud music that should make his ears explode but for some odd reason didn't, Taichi noticed the other boy and stopped immediately, quickly turning off his mp3. Yamato turned around, not once looking at him and started to walk back the way he came from. The confused brunet made several attempts to speak, move, shout or just do something, but none were very successful. He ended up staring after him as he walked out of his vision of sight.
The blond was frowning slightly as he walked; annoyed by his sudden bad luck.
He'll learn, Matt, a comforting voice said in his head. Tomorrow he's got it.
Yamato smiled inwardly, a smile that almost reached his delicate features. Then he turned left and entered class.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
At was a miracle that he hadn't even noticed her intense gaze. If he had, he would've cringed under it, begging her to stop looking at him like that. But he was currently zoning out, head threatening to tilt down from his right palm that was supporting it, which would naturally lead to him jerking it back up and looking around with a confused and drowsy expression.
So he was tired. Okay, not the same thing as miserable, and not the same thing as trying to hide that he's miserable. Just… tired. She sighed, briefly looking away from her observing-object. She couldn't help it; he was supposed to be depressed by the way Yamato was still avoiding him, even after…
To her, that was a pretty good reason not to ignore someone. Of course that's just the way guys work, isn't it?
She jerked slightly when feeling a light hand on hers and came back to reality. Mimi's hand, that had for one second pulled away again when noticing her reaction, rested on hers. "Are you okay, Sora?"
"I'm fine." She sighed, throwing her friend an apologizing look for not having the strength to, well, act fine.
Mimi studied her with concern, then finally gave up, figuring they'd talk about it at another time. Koushiro, sitting across the table, was still talking to Ken about his latest updated program about God knows what, –she'd never get what the hell was coming out of that guy's mouth- the reason Taichi, who was sitting next to the genius, was falling asleep of course. It was one of the few days when her schedule matched theirs and she could actually have lunch with them. Then there were the even fewer days when Koushiro's best friend Joe could join them. That had happened three times.
The redhead beside her looked at Taichi once again, frowning. Even if he's dense now, doesn't mean he won't get hurt eventually. And the longer it takes, the more it'll hurt.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Taichi had never in his life observed his friend for so long.
To have walked behind him for the last ten minutes, he'd discovered many fascinating things. He walked in a very interesting way, unable to be described. Not slutty, like a girl. Not stiff, like a guy. Not overdone, like a "cool" dude. Just…
Man, what a weird way to walk in, he thought for the tenth time, shaking his head. The reason he was walking 20 feet behind the musician was because he had not yet found the courage to approach him, much less speaking. Plus he had a feeling that wasn't such a good idea. Don't poke the bear. He snickered at the thought of his friend as an angry bear, chasing annoying kids and growling. Then he shook that thought away, rolling his eyes at himself. After all, he had better things to do.
His eyes returned to Yamato's back, studying with interest. When he finally came to the spot where their shared way home split, Taichi sighed to himself and started walking his own way, feeling a little weird doing that without the usual "see ya" or "bye". Busy with feeling sorry for himself, he almost missed Yamato's words.
"Where're you going?"
Taichi spun around, founding his friend standing right at the spot where their separate ways met. It was an invitation, not a question. Even though it didn't sound very inviting, it were the keywords for I want you to follow me home and fuck my brains out. Okay so it didn't necessarily mean the last part, but Taichi was obviously not going to be home for the next hour or so.
All of this raced through Taichi's head, as he just stared at him, careful not to smile or look smug or even hopeful. One mistake and Yamato might get mad and this would be all over.
Without another word, Yamato turned his way and started walking. Taichi quickly considered if it was 100 per cent safe to follow, and started walking, finally letting the smile spread across his face.

"Did you know that Kari's got class meeting tomorrow? Apparently one parent has to attend."
"Mmm…?" Mr Yagami mumbled, eyes glued to the magazine. His wife was pouring herself a cup of coffee, still having her black coat on. There was no need to take it off; she was going to leave again soon.
"Class meeting?" he finally muttered, affirming that he'd caught that word at least.
"Yes," Mrs Yagami replied quickly, sitting down beside him and drinking the hot gift from heaven. If she survived the day without coffee or not she didn't know; she would never in her life try. Believing that it made things better was enough. "Could you be there?"
"Maybe. Why not you?"
"Got a client" Big gulp –she never drank it slowly nowadays. "Ms Kobayashi" she sighed, and smirked a little as her husband immediately uttered an understanding 'oh'. Calling an over middle-aged woman 'Ms' felt odd, though she could certainly understand why she was still a Miss. I swear to God, if that woman didn't have more money than she deserved I would never have anything to do with her.
"Believe me, I would much rather listen to that stupid teacher for hours, than dealing with Ms Kobayashi."
He smiled, finally turning his attention away from random crises and disasters in the newspaper. "I know. You're admirable, you know that?"
She snorted, a brief show of amusement and gratefulness visible on her still youthful features. Then a serious face. "Tai is having some grade problems"
Their sixteen-year-old son wasn't exactly any more open than other teenagers; he just had a very inquisitive mother. At least when in came to things that had to do with school. She would occasionally ask him how every thing was, but it wasn't like he would ever reply 'oh well everything sucks right now and I'm very depressed because I'm feeling this and she said that and they did this and he did that…' If he ever informed her about anything having to do with emotions she would probably choke on something or fall off the chair. She accepted the 'okay' for an answer, appreciating that he at least talked to her about other things.
"In what?"
She snapped back, blinking. In a second or two she remembered what she had been talking about. "English, mostly. Do you think there's something wrong with him?"
Mr Yagami turned page. "Wrong?" he glanced at her. "Just because he's got some school problems doesn't mean he's stupid."
"No that's not what I meant" she sighed, rolling her eyes at him. "I mean besides school, I haven't seen him with Yamato for a while." She said as an example, though that wasn't really what she thought was the case.
"Why would I know?" he muttered, not turning his eyes away from the newspaper. She blinked, slightly disappointed. Then she shrugged, hit by the realization that neither of them did know.
"Girl problems?" she offered half-heartedly, rubbing her eyes. She didn't really have the energy to discuss it anyway –especially not if neither one of them had a clue.
"Maybe"
She checked her watch and noticed that she should have left two minutes ago. After giving him a quick kiss she said goodbye and ran out, leaving a ready-to-be-cleaned kitchen, a ready-to-be-shaved man and a half-empty cup.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Yagami Taichi was a quick learner. When he was little, he used to watch guys play football down the street, and then mimic their moves and tricks until he could do it in his sleep. He made up new ones too and, simply by finding it more fun than anything else, trained to be the best when he started school, shortly becoming a star. He learned to be funny by idolizing his uncle, who –to him- was the funniest man on the planet and made everyone around him smile and laugh. When he first met Sora, it was because he made her laugh that he escaped getting beat down for destroying her red hat with mud. Back then she was taller than him, and he only had his charm to save him from receiving physical damage. Yamato was a different thing. While football and jokes were simply fun, this new blond kid was a challenge. Eventually Taichi learned exactly what to say and do to get his attention at all, to startle him out of his defense and finally trick him into surrender. Before Yamato knew it, he'd become so attached to Taichi that he couldn't turn back.
This afternoon, Taichi was once again faced with a challenge. He had already learned his mistakes; this time he didn't look like a human question mark when Yamato had tried to hint that he wanted sex, he didn't ask a hundred times if he really meant it, he was quick to start touching him without teasing, and he didn't speak. Still, there were so many new mistakes to be made.
Yamato pushed Taichi's hands back with an annoyed sigh, giving him a quick glare and removing his shirt by himself. Taichi ducked his head, feeling useless. There were so many things Yamato didn't like, and so many unspoken rules that Taichi was expected to follow. He let Yamato remove his shirt and then his t-shirt, slightly encouraged by the lustful look on the blonde's face as he gazed at his body. He then made the biggest mistake he could've done, he leaned in and kissed him, unable to resist. Yamato pushed him away with surprising strength, and Taichi was a bit taken aback. He barely had time to realize what he'd done wrong before Yamato started unbuttoning his jeans. He hesitatingly responded by unbuttoning Yamato pants, looking carefully at him from under his bangs. As the musician didn't make any signs on irritation, he quickly unzipped and pulled them down, leaving Yamato to take them off completely.
As they stumbled into bed, Taichi's mind was focused on what he was allowed, and not allowed, supposed and not supposed to do. He didn't want Yamato to feel unwanted, but he couldn't grope around like last time. He probably shouldn't speak, he shouldn't look at him, get him frustrated, or annoyed. He shouldn't be dominant, nor should he be slow.
When he made the blue-eyed boy frown, he thought it was the end of the world. Then suddenly he was moaning, and Taichi thought he was going to burst with pride. When he got a command to stop, he took it in and remembered it, and when everything just rolled on, Yamato silent and pleased, he tried to memorize that as well. There were times when he lost himself, -after all they were rolling around naked in a bed- and he happened to spontaneously do something that just felt right.
"Stop kissing me."
Taichi looked up at him –another mistake- and blinked. He swore that he had heard Yamato moan when he was kissing his collarbone, although that may have been because he was touching him at the same time.
Remembering to be quiet, Taichi just nodded and continued jerking him off mechanically. Just before Yamato was about to stop him, getting close, he removed his hand and waited for him to make the first initiative to go further. Pride filled inside him when his friend was a bit taken aback by his fast learning, and he made a mental note to himself that next time he'd make it without any slip-ups whatsoever.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Next day arrived, and during its hours of school time, Taichi made no attempts to approach, talk to, talk about or even think about the blond-haired jerk that seemed to have fallen off the face of earth. He talked about other things like football, his "cruel big-mouthed asshole for a coach" (which Sora could agree with; she had him as coach too), and various grade problems –or as he put it; grouchy teachers that either had love problems, money problems, or simply hadn't got laid for a very long time. Taichi even went as far as talking about girls, and trying to make Sora talk about guys, which was very ironic by a fact she chose not to say out loud.
It was one thing to see your friend miserable and hear him whine over it, but seeing him in this weird situation that could be working, but could screw everything up just as well was both worrying and frustrating. It was a dangerous balancing between chaos and brief happiness. Then again, she had to remind herself every so often that the brunet didn't think the way she did. Not at all. Therefore, he probably didn't feel the way she would've felt. Question is if that makes it right.
Either way, he kept surprising her by filling out the hole Yamato had left them with endless chattering, jokes and just being himself. She couldn't decide whether he was very good at acting, or if he was dumb enough to be happy, if there were something she had missed or maybe just –God forbid- didn't get. Since the blond wasn't a good topic to bring up, she couldn't exactly get any information out either. It was an evil circle, unless of course they were happy, but…
"…so then he said "Yagami, if you don't get your lazy ass out on the field, I'm throwing you out of the team so fast you wouldn't know what hit you!" I mean was an ass; I just explained everything about Kari –which I shouldn't even have to do, cuz it's none of his fucking business if she's in the hospital and why would I even have to talk about that, it's a hard thing to talk about y'know and then he goes and completely ignores everything I just said and threatens to kick me off the team! And he called me a lazy-ass! And then he gets even angrier when I say this and he makes me do a hundred push-ups. I think it was two hundred even…"
Sora sighed to herself. Originally it had been thirty push-ups.
"Hey, guy with blue hair! Ken right?" Taichi suddenly hollered, -making Sora jump in the effort- waving a cheerful hand at the younger teen that was passing them.
Sora blinked at her friend. Man, he's good at moving on. She was almost a bit proud of him, perhaps he'd even forget about Yamato after a few days. Obviously he wasn't as attached as she'd thought.
Ken observed him hesitatingly, slightly suspicious by the elder boy's wide grin and friendly manner. He felt tempted to jump back when Taichi made his way over to him faster than he'd expected, dragging him by his arm.
"You've met Sora right?" Taichi asked, pulling him down on the bench.
"I guess" Ken mumbled distractedly, politely nodding at Sora before glancing at the brunet.
"Sora, this is my stalker. Stalker, this is my… -ew-" he paused long enough to make a face. "This is Sora. She's not mine."
Ken looked back and forth between the rambling brunet and the sighing redhead. "In case you've missed it, Tai's retarded." Sora mentioned as a sort of excuse.
"No, I've noticed." The blue-haired boy assured, "I've had lunch with him"
The girl smirked, and Taichi immediately brought up their talks, chattering like only he could do. The only thing that he avoided mentioning was their missing friend, which Ken instantly noticed. Apparently the two had divorced themselves from the third person to complete the trio, question was why. Ken had some theories that he –now knowing better- kept to himself.
Well-raised boy as he was, he listened to the brown-eyed teen's pointless and quite random rambling until he had to get to class. He then quickly excused himself and hurried away to get there in time. Manners and punctuality often had a way of crashing with each other.
Taichi turned to the redhead and grinned widely. "Great kid, huh? Little weird though. He spies on people"
"…yeah." Sora replied hesitatingly, eyeing him.
Taichi's gaze rested on something behind her, and, noticing the change in his face -which was a day to night kind of difference- she turned around.
"Ah… I don't think you should say anything to him…" Taichi mumbled, eyes still glued to the blond musician who was making his way through the hall, soon about to pass them. The unfazed and somewhat distant expression on his face made her frown, raising an eyebrow at the tense teen beside her, as if he would be the one to explain. Ignoring his advice, she threw an arm up, waving.
"Matt!"
He merely glanced her way before passing her, turning his back to her shocked stare. After a few seconds of gaping, she looked at Taichi who looked both guilty and embarrassed.
"What the hell was that?" she gasped, still in shock. Sure, she had grown used to the blond acting strange, but this was a new record.
"Nothing. He' just like that, forget him." Taichi mumbled, desperately searching for something else to bring up.
"Hey, ah… I saw this girl the other day…"
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
The second he could make Yamato's face out he knew he'd done something wrong. He cursed inwardly, angry with himself. It hadn't even begun and already he had made a mistake. When would he learn?
"You do not wait for me like that." Yamato said as he passed by, not even looking at him. Taichi stared as the blond walked pass him, feeling like killing himself. Why couldn't he have just done it right and then everything would've worked? He had one chance and he fucked it up.
Not having the strength to move, he watched the musician walk home –for no reason. It was over.
There was a moment of regret when he saw the other teen turn around and glare at him. Maybe he shouldn't have stared like that.
"What the fuck are you waiting for?" the blond boy then said, loud enough to be heard by the brunet still standing where he had waited in the first place. At first he was just confused. Then fear of making another mistake built up in him. Yamato's impatient look forced him to take a ridiculously hesitant step forward. As soon as he'd done that, the blue-eyed boy nodded and turned around, once again starting to walk home.
-'-
Taichi smiled faintly as he walked down the stairs. He'd made him scream. Not once had he yelled at him or even frowned. Hell, he almost smiled once! Taichi hadn't lost focus, he hadn't said a word, and his timing was prefect. Plus they were done in time, so Yamato didn't even have to worry about his dad. Though he did rush afterwards anyway. But that didn't matter. What mattered was that he'd actually done everything right.
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Monday 10.45 A.M.
When a person keeps looking at you for a very long time and doesn't say anything, you really start noticing things about them. Especially if it's a very strange look they're giving you and their mouth is hanging open just a little, and their eyes are slightly bigger than usual. What he noticed about Sora as she was staring at him, was that her eyelashes were actually pretty long even though she never put mascara on them, and her eyes were not just the color of amber. They had both darker, almost sangria-colored shades and lighter golden glimmerings. Even though she had frozen in that rather amusing expression, different reflections of light made everything mix and blur. It was confusing as hell once he tried to define it all. Frustrated for no particular reason, he gave up on it and observed the skin instead. Again, as he paid more attention to it than he ever had before, he discovered new things. It was slightly yellowish and yet sort of pink and slightly sun-burnt. Though right now it seemed almost pale. Her mouth was still hanging open and, being a few inches taller than her, he could see a bit of the inside of her lower lip. There was a line right were the lips met, and the inside was darker than the outside. As she never used lip-gloss either, the outside looked pretty dry and he could spot very fine lines hinting lack of moisture.
Taichi had known Sora for about eight years and only once had he liked her as a girl and not just a friend. But that lasted for one day and no more. He had never had any distracting attraction towards her but still, right now he realized how much more interesting her face was compared to the plastic-looking ones on TV. He decided that Sora –even now, as she seriously looked like an idiot- was way more beautiful than any other girl he'd seen.
-'-
"…you did what?!"
Taichi ducked his head, avoiding her unforgiving eyes. He couldn't understand why she was so against it. He and Yamato finally had something, and she hated it! Why?
Something suddenly struck him, and he almost jumped back in horror. Sora raised an eyebrow, now looking more suspicious than angry. When he pointed an accusing finger at her, still not managing to speak, she frowned. "What the hell's wrong with you?"
"You're jealous!" Taichi hissed, and now it was his turn to gape.
Sora gaped right back for a second, then put a hand to her forehead, sighing darkly. One sentence was trapped behind her gritting teeth, desperate to jump out. But she was used to suppress it and she did, even though this time it was more difficult than usual.
"Tai, you're wasting my time. Just tell me why the hell you did it." She demanded lowly, frustrated that he was so stubborn.
"I'm wasting your time? Sora, will you drop this already! Will you let me live my fucking life and stop pretending that you know everything." He clenched his fists, determined to not give in. "Or deserve to know, for that matter" he added coldly. "It was just an accident that you found out in the first place. We wouldn't have told you if you didn't."
Sora closed her eyes, fighting the urge to choke him. He deserves the effort, he's just blind right now. Help him.
"Tai, please…"
He immediately softened, and sat down beside her. He'd always been a stubborn person, but he couldn't stand it when people got sad. The times he had cried the hardest as a child, were when someone else was crying. Sora knew this weakness, and right now she took advantage of it. Fair? She didn't give a shit.
"I just want you to talk to me. Even if everything's fine. Don't just avoid it."
"Sora, please. Let it go, will you?" he stared at the wall, as if that was what he was begging to get off his back. From his left, Sora's frustrated gaze buried itself into him. She hardly stopped herself from smacking him across the head.
"No, we're talking about it and that's final! I still don't get this. He doesn't want you to talk to him, look at him, be near him or even think about him. But then after school he demands you to-"
"No, its just… we've both realized that we want this, that… y'know-"
"You rather sleep with guys?" Sora finished, smirking at him. Until now, it had never been put out in the open, but it was rather obvious that Taichi preferred boys over girls. Or at least wanted both.
He shrugged. "…yeah. And I took it way better than him to say the least. But we can't be anything deeper than…" he paused, hanging his head and sighing.
"Fuck-buddies?"
He winced, closing his eyes. Sora stood up, running her fingers through her short red hair. Seeing the brown-eyed boy like this was irritating her. Not because he irritated her, but because he was suffering from his own stupid kindness and she couldn't help him. He was like a little puppy following his owner no matter how many times he got hit. She looked down at him where he was sitting on the bench. They were in the sports hall; the current class were having football outside on the field and wouldn't return until the end of the period. Sora had dragged him over there since Taichi refused to talk to her about this out in the hall.
It was obviously a sensitive subject and he wanted to avoid it. But she was not going to let him. If he told her everything, he could at least put some of the weight on her and not carry it by himself.
"Can't you hear yourself? Stop being a such doormat!"
He glared at her, anger building up. He knew that she was just trying to help and up until now he had looked past her constant nagging. But the way she was acting right now –like she had him all figured out and angry with him for not getting it himself- was something he couldn't stand.
"Will you for once realize that I'm not like you! I won't break just because he doesn't want to be my boyfriend and marry me and tell me he loves me everyday! I don't care, alright! I know sex to you is such a fucking big deal but to us it's just release. Sure it would be nice to have it with someone I care about but right now I don't fucking need it! We're not friends anymore, but I have someone to screw and for your information –since you apparently want to know everything- he's fucking good at it too! The only thing that seriously bugs me right now is you and your big mouth!"
He stormed out, punching the wall, knocking some box down and slamming the door on the way. If Sora hadn't felt so jaded she would've rolled her eyes.

Sometime not long post-02, Steve & Frigimon finally get the chance to be approached by... Qinglongmon: Qinglongmon: Steve, smiling: Qinglongmon: Steve, smiling: Steve, slow grinning: ... So, this is a little awkward, because I don't necessarily 'fully' believe in your existence, but... Qinglongmon: ( *coughs* ) Steve: I don't mind helping out, I'm just a little confused why we weren't included from the beginning. Steve: We were "Chosen" around the same time too, weren't we? Koushiro's explained it to me. Because Koushiro's super helpful and guided us where Koushiro could when we were newer and didn't know a lot. Qinglongmon: It's a little "complicated"-- Steve: Yeah, I get it. Steve: But it'd be nice to be "in the know" now. Qinglongmon: ( *t WITCHING* ) Steve, cheerfully: ... Which is why you should help out Frigimon & I with helping the others. Qinglongmon: ( *t W I TCHING*) ..... Steve: A power-up (similar to theirs) might be nice. Qinglongmon: Qinglongmon: Consider it done. Steve, equally cheerfully: {in Yiddish} Thanks! Frigimon: ('You know, you're really unnerving a lot of them?') Steve: ('You know why...') Frigimon: ('I know, but I can't say it wasn't also amusing to see Qinglongmon like that...')

psst idk if you still take drabble prompts but if you do, 32 with taishiro?
Thankyou for the wonderful prompt, Peach! This isn’t the first Taishiro fic thatI’ve written, but it’s the first that I’ve posted online. Hotaru is my sister’sheadcanon name for their daughter. It means “firefly.”
150 drabbles challenge
32. “Why did we have to have kids?”
The sun hung low in the sky, touching the distant mountain tops. It marked that time of day when the cloudsturned orange and violet, and the colors were always more vivid in the DigitalWorld. They were walking hand in hand alongside a gentle river that reflectedthe rosy blue sky. It would have been romantic—
“Daddy!” Hotaru crawled underneath athree-foot-tall mushroom. Her toothy smile was still bright under the shade ofthe giant fungus’ cap.
“What’s up, baby?” Taichi let go ofKoushiro’s hand and knelt next to the toddler. The girl’s smile was asenchanting as it was on the first day that Koushiro introduced her to him.Taichi still felt a rush of giddiness whenever she called him her dad.
“Flower name?” Hotaru patted thedigital mushroom’s stem. She had developed an interest in plants since Koushirostarted writing a paper about Digital World flora. It was all they talked aboutat dinner.
“That’s not a flower. It’s amushroom. I bet Papa can tell you the scientific name—”
“Papa no helping Daddy!” Hotaruinterrupted.
Koushiro abruptly closed his mouth. Then he giggled.
“You want me to come up with a scientific name for it? Do you want me to embarrass myself in front ofPapa?” Taichi drawled his questions and Hotaru erupted into giggles at herfather’s silly tone of voice. “Fine. It’s the Fungasaurus mushroomiest giganticlus.”
“Nooo!” Tentomon shouted andhovered next to the girl. “That’s not how binomial nomenclature works at all! He’s supposed to only say two names! Genus and species! By saying three names,he completely blew his cover!”
“Oh come on.” Taichi shrugged.“That was two words. There was…a hyphen.” Koushiro joined his daughter in giggling. But Taichi didn’t convince the bug digimon.
Tentomon nudged Taichi’s arm andwhispered loudly. “That didn’t even sound Latin! You should have said somethinglike Mushroomius mithrilus and itwould have been more believable. I’m just trying to help you impress Koushiro!”
“Tentomon…” Koushiro covered hismouth to hide his smile. “You keep saying ‘mithril,’ but I don’t think youactually know what that word means.”
“Of course I do! It’s what themushroom is obviously made of. At least, that’s my hypothesis!” Tentomonreplied.
“Does that mean it’s poisonous?”Agumon asked.
“Goodness no! It means that it’smetallic,” Tentomon answered.
Agumon chomped his teeth around thegiant mushroom stem. Hotaru gasped and clapped her hands. Tentomon made adisappointed sounding buzz.
“S’defin’tly NOT made uff medal,”Agumon said with his mouth full, making the girl laugh. Taichi immediatelygrabbed the little dinosaur and yanked him off the fungus.
“Agu, what have I said aboutputting strange things in your mouth? Set a better example for Hotaru!” Taichishook his digimon partner and looked back at Koushiro. “That’s not actually poison, right?”
“No, no! I would have saidsomething if it was!” Koushiro’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry to make you worry. Iwouldn’t have let Hotaru come if I knew there were poisonous plants here!”
Taichi gently dropped Agumon and roseto his feet. He grasped Koushiro’s hand again. “Hey, it’s okay. I wasn’tworried. I trust you—”
“It’s not a poisonous plant! It’s a poisonous fungus!” Tentomon corrected his partner.
Koushiro sighed. “I just said itwasn’t poisonous. You’re missing the point, Tentomon. I don’t mind, but pleasedon’t try to show off in front of Hotaru.”
Hotaru, meanwhile, chomped on themushroom stem. She quickly spat out the bits that stuck to her teeth. “Yuck!Yucky yuck!”
“Maybe mithril is softer than Ithought…” pondered Tentomon.
“Sweetie, don’t eat that!” Koushirolooked alarmed.
“She’s fine, remember?” Taichireassured him.
“It will taste better if we cookit!” Agumon spoke up, eager to teach Hotaru the cooking skills he had learnedfrom Taichi. “We can make a HUGE miso stew with this!” The T-Rex threw his tinyarms around the mushroom stem and pulled with all his might. After he grunted,Tentomon flew above him and started pulling the cap to help, to no avail.
Hotaru loved miso stew, and she lovedher digimon friends. She wanted to be as big, strong, and intelligent as themsomeday. She pulled on the mushroom stem from the opposite side, and promptlyleaned too far back and fell into the river. The digimon and the adultsshrieked.
“Hotaru!”
“Hotaru!”
“Hotaruuu!”
“HOTARU!”
Taichi was the quickest to reachthe water, and he immediately grabbed the girl and swooped her out of there. Heheld her tight against his chest. Hotaru’s eyes were wide as saucers. Shelooked too stunned to process what had just happened.
“Sweetie, are you all right?”Koushiro’s voice was a little high. He patted her wet hair nervously.
Hotaru realized just howuncomfortable her dress was now that she was wet, and she started crying.“C-cold…”
“You’re cold? I’m so sorry!” Koushirobit his lips and fumbled with his hands.
“You’re safe now. Don’t worry,”Taichi spoke with authority, and Hotaru’s sobs subsided to sniffles withintermittent whines. Taichi handed the child to Koushiro, who wrapped his armsaround her carefully and kissed her head. Hotaru stopped fussing.
“Let’s go home,” Taichi said.Koushiro nodded and started quickly walking back in the direction they hadcome. Taichi wrapped his arm around the man’s shoulder, and felt his partnerrelax a bit. Taichi peeked over Koushiro’s head to see that the sun was almostgone. They had missed the most romantic moment of the sunset already.
“I’m sorry that we didn’t get tosee the giant redwoods,” Koushiro murmured. He knew that Taichi had been mosteager to see the truly enormous digital plant life.
Taichi shrugged. “Some other day.”
Agumon and Tentomon both apologizedat the same time, talking over each other. Then Agumon complained that he couldhave yanked out that mushroom if Taichi had evolved him to Greymon, andTentomon piped up that he could make Hotaru dry faster if she was riding onKabuterimon’s back.
“It’s fine! Stop worrying so much! She just needs a bath. We’re almost at the Gate.” Taichi grinned at the pair ofthem, and the mood lightened again. The digimon started chatting with eachother instead. Taichi chuckled and whispered in Koushiro’s ear. “Why did wehave to have kids, eh?”
Koushiro froze, which stoppedTaichi in his tracks. “Um…?”
Taichi blinked. “It was a joke!” Heoffered an awkward smile and gestured to the child-level digimon. “They’re allour kids. Our crazy kids, and I love them all.”
“Oh! Haha.” Koushiro tried laughingand blushed that he didn’t get the joke. It was embarrassing when that stillhappened to him. He continued walking forward and Taichi squeezed his shoulder.“Yeah, I love them too,” Koushiro responded. “I didn’t understand what you weresaying. At first…I thought that you were asking for another one.”
“Another what?”
“Another child.” Koushiro kept hisvoice as low as possible. Though Hotaru didn’t look like she was payingattention. She seemed to be drifting to sleep in his arms.
“What?” That came out louder thanTaichi wanted, but he covered any awkwardness with another laugh. “I see! Nowonder you were confused.”
Koushiro nodded.
Taichi hesitated. “Do you wantanother child?”
“I…” Koushiro furrowed his thickeyebrows. “I’ve actually been thinking…”
Taichi guffawed. “You do?”
“No! I mean, yes. I mean! I-I wasjust thinking the other day of how jealous I used to be of you and Hikarigrowing up. That’s all. And…I don’t want Hotaru to be lonely. Ever.”
Taichi softened. “She won’t be. Shealready has Agumon and Tentomon, and she’ll get her own digimon partner soonenough. She’ll make plenty of friends too. I promise.”
“Right. I know that you can definitelyhelp her in that area. You’ve always been helpful in that area. Friendship, Imean.”
“Thanks.” Taichi ran his free handthrough his brown hair, blushing a little. He should probably get it cut againsoon…
“It’s more than that,” Koushirosaid suddenly, his voice more self-assured. “I want to help as many orphans aspossible!”
Taichi nodded, beginning tounderstand. His throwaway joke must have triggered deep-seated issues thatKoushiro had been thinking about for a long time.
“But it was hard enough for me toadopt Hotaru. I got really, really lucky. I was a single clueless collegeprofessor who spent more time with digimon than people. I don’t know if I cango through that stress again. Especially with you in the picture now.”
Taichi stopped moving, and Koushiropanicked.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry. I didn’tmean that you were bad. Y-you’re really helpful! You’re a much better parentthan I am. I would be so lost without you…” Koushiro stopped talking whenTaichi kissed him.
“You’re a wonderful parent,” Taichiwhispered. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to Hotaru.” He kissed himagain. “And you’re the best thing that ever happened to me.” He kissed himagain.
“Mmf…” Koushiro felt a littlelight-headed. Even though they had been a couple for over a year now, he stillgot giddy whenever Taichi turned romantic. “Thanks…” Koushiro finally pulledaway, not wanting to make the situation too awkward for the digimon.
“Are you done yet?” Agumon asked,as if on cue. He and Tentomon were hiding behind rocks.
“Yeah! It’s safe to come out!”Taichi yelled. “We reached the Gate!”
Hotaru fussed again, and Koushiroset her back on her feet. She was getting a little too big to be carried. Hesaw that there was, indeed, a monitor-screen gateway just ahead of them, nestled in a sandy bank of the river. Koushiro looked back to Hotaru and Taichiand the digimon. He wished—not for the first time—that they could all stay inthis world instead. The sky was already a velvet blue, filled with a millionnew stars to count…
“We’ll talk about it later, okay?”Taichi said. Koushiro nodded.
“I’M COLD!” Hotaru whined.
“Shh. Let’s get you home,” Koushirosaid.
The three humans and two digimonwalked up to computer in the sand bank. Then Koushiro took Hotaru’s left hand, and Taichi took her right hand, and the family opened the portal back to thereal world.

Brave Shine Chapter 2
Chapter 1
*blinks* wow, that was fast, even for me. Guess that’s what happens when I’m on break from school.
Summary: Perhaps he could have been a little less abrupt about the whole thing…but in his defense, he hadn’t really expected everything to blow up in his face. Quite literally.
Characters: Ken, Takeru, Daisuke, Hikari, Iori, Miyako
Pairing: Daiken
The trees rose up around them, their outstretching branches all but blocking out their view of the sky. The sun faded as they walked deeper into the forest, a muted darkness closing in around the small group. Their feet crunched the brush with slow footsteps, the only sound in the silence that had fallen amongst them. The moment Daisuke had turned his back to rush ahead, those that remained shared a few awkward glances before shaking their heads and following without argument.
Ken had hung back, watching everyone pull ahead of him. Then, his head dropped, his hands curling into trembling fists. He sucked in a slow breath and released it just as slowly, his eyes closing. Wormmon pressed in closer, rubbing at his ankles. He didn’t ask, he didn’t need to. Ken had spoken at length about what had happened a few days prior. After a few minutes, Wormmon moved again, large eyes blinking towards the direction the group had gone towards. “Maybe we should catch up, Ken…” he suggested, turning his head to look up at his partner. Ken’s eyes drifted open, smiling wearily down at Wormmon. He crouched down, running a hand down the digimon’s back.
“Yea, we probably should…Let’s get going then,” he agreed softly. Standing once more, he pulled Wormmon into his arms and began to walk into the forest to join his friends. His pace slow, but steady, he followed the others that had rushed before him, ignoring the brief flashes of warmth when the sun splashed across his body through the spaces between the intertwining branches above. Wormmon was silent in his arms, moving every now and then to glance up at Ken. Ken’s eyes, dark and tired, stared ahead of him, shadowed with bags that only darkened with every passing night. His thoughts began to wander, the image of Daisuke staring at him before running off drifting through his mind.
He'd seemed so…defeated. His eyes, their bright gold normally sparkling with life, had dulled to the likeness of beaten bronze. His shoulders had trembled, struggling to keep upright. The curve of his mouth which was usually pulled taut with an easy-going grin, had seemed fake almost, forced if Ken were to guess. Daisuke had been struggling to hide something, but as to what, Ken couldn’t even begin to guess. After all…it was Daisuke who’d decided to yell…that…at him in front of every single one of their friends.
Ken’s grip tightened around Wormmon, biting down on his lower lip at the memory.
Daisuke had to have found out about his feelings for him and decided to tease him about them…That was the only explanation that he could come up with that made any sort of sense. There was no way that Daisuke actually felt the same about him. And…Ken hadn’t wanted to jeopardize their friendship by speaking about these…ridiculous emotions. So he’d kept quiet, cherishing the moments he had Daisuke shared in the privacy of his own thoughts. But then Daisuke had…
Ken sighed, shaking his head as if to rid himself of these thoughts. He knew he and Daisuke would have to talk eventually, but…after seeing him today…perhaps it was best to wait. He didn’t want either of them to lose their temper and ruin anything.
A crack in the quiet woods jerked him away from his thoughts, Ken glancing up. He paused, blinking at the source of the noise in confusion. Takeru leaned up against a tree, eyes closed and Patamon perched atop his head. His arms crossed over his chest, fingers tapping idly on his shirt sleeve. “Takeru…” Ken whispered. Takeru’s eyes opened and turned to look at him, their bright blue etched with concern. “Ah, sorry. I wasn’t in the mood to rush around today, so I’ll meet you guys there. No need…” Ken trailed off at Takeru’s expression, taken aback by the seriousness that met his gaze.
“Are you alright, Ken?” Takeru asked slowly, staring at Ken with an intensity that made Ken uncomfortable. Ken dropped his eyes, shifting his weight. Those eyes…It was almost like they looked right through him…
“I-I’m fine, Takeru. No need to worry.” The smile that stretched across his face felt fake, as if it had been painted on. Takeru huffed, his frown deepening as he looked at Ken.
“You and Daisuke are full of shit, you know that? Both of you, insisting that you’re fine while obviously forcing smiles on your face for the rest of us. It’s stupid! We want to know if you guys are hurting! We want to help! But both you…just keep pushing us away. I expected as much from Daisuke…but not from you, Ken.” Ken flinched, ignoring the worried titter from Wormmon.
“Sorry… But I really am fine, Takeru. Just…haven’t been sleeping well is all.” Ken resumed walking, keeping his gaze pointedly away from Takeru as he strode past him. “I…think we should catch up with the others.” And without another word, he broke out into a run, ignoring the single tear that slid down his pale face.
Takeru stared as he walked past, sighing heavily before moving to follow him. Worry curled in his stomach, frustration beginning to take root beside it.
“Stupid…pigheaded…idiots,” he growled under his breath. “We all know something is wrong. It wouldn’t kill either of you to admit it.”
“Why is it that whenever something is weird, it always leads us to a Koromon village?” Daisuke groaned, glancing around the small village. Standing beside him, Hikari giggled, lifting a hand to her mouth. The Koromon bounced around in greeting, crowding around their feet and filling the air with their loud voices. Daisuke sighed heavily, annoyance flicking across his face. One of his hands moved to lace through his hair, auburn spikes poking through the spaces between his fingers.
“It does seem to happen frequently. Maybe they just like the attention?” Hikari said, amusement high in her voice. Daisuke watched as she crouched down, her brown eyes warm and soft as she reached out to pet one of the digimon at her feet. A soft smile tugged at his lips as he watched her, stiffening when her eyes turned towards him. He looked away sharply, clearing his throat.
“Oh, yea…maybe.” Frowning, he scanned the surroundings, looking for anything unusual. His eyes immediately fall onto Ken, who was just wandering into the village with Takeru at his side. Their gazes met for a moment, the pain reflecting back at him making that hollow in his stomach ache fiercely. Ken’s eyes were red, the color bright in his pale features. Looking away, Daisuke smiled crookedly at Hikari. “Hey, would you mind talking to the Koromon about…whatever it is we’re looking for? I’m going to go…look around.” Hikari glanced up at him, her lip drawing down in a frown. Standing slowly, she nodded.
“I can do that. But Daisuke…” Daisuke shook his head to cut her off before she could continue, refusing to get into that conversation again.
“Don’t worry about a thing. I’m just gonna go look around. Keep an eye on things for me, would ya?” Waving, he began to move deeper into the village, hands shoved into his pockets. Hikari could only stare, blinking in mild surprise, before sighing.
“He refusing to talk too?” Takeru asked, taking Davis’ spot beside her. His arms crossed over his chest, he watched Davis leave, a flat scowl on his face. Glancing at him, Hikari sighed before nodding.
“Oh yea. Apparently neither of them want to say a word about what happened. They need to talk about it or nothing is going to change. Heaven forbid they need to use Jogress evolution…” Her eyes flicked back towards where Ken stood, watching as he conversed awkwardly with Iori. Sighing softly, she returned her gaze to Takeru. “Well…whatever… Have you found anything that kinda looks like what we’re looking for? Koushiro was a little vague.”
As if to answer her question, the ground shook violently beneath her feet, the hot blast of an explosion tearing through the area. Hikari’s arms lifted to cover her face, her eyes squeezing shut. Takeru grabbed her, pulling her close to shield her more. As everything slowly stilled, they untwined slowly, blinking dust from their eyes as they attempted to focus through the haze. Smoke billowed up from a building near the outskirts of the town, the black plume blocking the horizon from view. Coughing, Hikari turned towards the group. “Is everyone alright?!” she called out, her voice a little hoarse. She picked out the two forms of Ken and Iori, speckled with dirt and soot and staring in horror at something behind her.
Slowly, she turned her head, her hands dropping nerveless to her sides. The smoke was beginning to clear, a few shadows filtering through the fading haze. The color bled from her face, her lips parting in shock. She heard the distinct buzz of wings, matching the red eyes that glowed from behind the cloud. As she watched, another digimon dove and struck another of the village’s buildings, the wood splintering and scattering everywhere.
“Oh…this is not good…” she breathed.
Daisuke kicked the dirt, grumbling quietly to himself. V-mon tailed him, uncharacteristically silent. Slumped, he stared at his feet, tracing the way the dirt caked into the well-worn shoes. Huffing, he tilted his head to look up at the sky, watching the trailing clouds as they streaked across the sky. “Stupid Hikari,” he muttered, frowning. “Stupid Taichi…Stupid Ken…” V-mon tugged on the bottom of his shorts, bringing his gaze down to the digimon.
“Daisuke…” he started, eyes glimmering with worry. Daisuke shook his head, sighing softly.
“Don’t, V-mon. I’m fine.” V-mon’s hand dropped away from his clothes, the digimon continuing to stare at him.
“Alright. If you say so…”
Daisuke opened his mouth to speak when something rustled in the bushes nearby, his body tensing. His foot slid gently outwards, widening his stance in preparation for what might jump out at him. Golden eyes flick towards the bushes, scanning the greenery for something out of the ordinary. V-mon crept out in front of him protectively. A flash of light brown drew his eyes, a pair of green eyes staring back at him. He jumped back in shock, his eyes widening. Preparing to order V-mon to attack, a loud bang cut him off, the ground shaking and robbing him of his balance. Collapsing unceremoniously to the ground, his hands scrambled for purchase, the dirt scraping his palms. His eyes squeezed shut and his head ducked down a fraction too late, blocking out the dust that came billowing in his direction.
Behind him, the strange digimon escaped off in the opposite direction, its mission complete.
A hand coming over his mouth, Daisuke coughed, the sound harsh and grating against his throat. Blinking watery eyes in an attempt to clear them, he scanned the immediate area, his hand dropping back to the ground in shock. As he watched the smoke billow up, he stood and tore off towards where his team was, calling back towards V-mon as an afterthought. Dust coated his face, his skin clear only around his eyes, where damp tear tracks carved through the grime. He wiped angrily at his face, smudging the dirt over his gloved fingers.
He skidded to a stop when he heard the buzz of wings, wide eyes tilting up to watch an Okuwamon barrel into another of the Koromon Village’s buildings. The ground rumbled once more, the small house completely demolished. Gold eyes wide and horrified, he turned in the opposite direction, frozen in place as the image of several digimon stalking towards the small village registered in his mind. “Oh…shit…” he whispered, feeling his stomach hollowing with horror. “Shit, shit, shit!” His feet scraped the dirt as he scrambled off in the direction of his team once more, his chest heaving as the sounds of the approaching digimon thundered in his ears.
This was so not good.
But it looks like they might have found the source of that stupid signal that Koushiro wanted them to look into.
Gasping for air, he slid to a stop in front of Hikari and Takeru, not even registering the surprise on their face. Pulling himself upright, he locked eyes with Ken, his expression grave, before looking towards the others. “We got several digimon heading towards here, all looking pissed. We gotta protect these Koromon and get them out of here and to the nearest safe place,” he yelled, his voice hoarse with all the dirt still lodged in his throat. His eyes sliding to Ken once more, he frowns. “Ken, jogress. Now.”
Ken flinched, his face paling beneath the dirt smudged across his skin. His grip tightening on Wormmon, his lips pressed together before he nodded. Daisuke held his eyes for a moment, studying him. Then, he looked towards V-mon and the glow of evolution bathed across the immediate area.
Well…this was going to be awkward.
Ken stood off to the side, watching the battle rage around him. His hands were fisted at his sides, trembling slightly. His brow was creased with concentration, his lips a flat line that cut across his face. The ground was torn up, scattered remnants of buildings strewn around the huge holes carved into the earth. Battle cries and animalistic growls wove through the air, the grating noise setting the already frazzled Ken on edge. The atmosphere was hazy with dust, making it difficult to truly see anything. But Ken kept his eyes on the battle.
Iori and Takeru were tasked with evacuation of the Koromon, Angemon and Digmon serving as protection as they squirreled the small, frightened digimon off and into the protective forest. Ken could still hear their scared cries echoing through the forest, could hear their mourning as they watched their village morph into a battlefield. Sweat streaked down Takeru and Iori’s faces, carving pale lines through the dirt that was still caked on their features. But still they ran, working to save as many Koromon as possible.
Hikari and Miyako had taken to the skies, each mounted on their respective digimon as they wove around each other and their enemies to strike. Fierce determination shone in their eyes, Miyako’s teeth bared as she yelled each time she struck. Hikari’s hands were white as she gripped Nefeterimon, her eyebrows flattened over worried eyes. Both worked tirelessly, ignoring any strain as they held the attackers back. The attackers that just kept coming…and were far stronger than they should have been.
Which left him and Daisuke, who stood apart from one another, both of their expressions creased with strain. Paildramon, their designated ‘front line’ for this battle, going up against the Okuwamon that had started this whole thing. The jogress bond…normally wide open and full of life and emotions when active, was cinched shut and stretched taut and thin between them, existing only as a faint connection between their minds and souls. Ken wasn’t entirely sure if that was his doing or if it was Daisuke’s…but it made it increasingly difficult to maintain the evolution. Paildramon was already showing signs of weakness, tiring far easier than normal. Ken doubted they’d be able to evolve to Imperialdramon if the situation called for it.
Ken glanced at Daisuke, his lips pulled down into a tense frown. His jogress partner stood several feet away from him, his shoulders shaking as he pulled himself up to his full height. His bottom lip was tucked between his teeth, golden eyes glinting as he stared up at the battle raging above them. Dust muted the bright auburn of his spiked hair, matching the thin coating that covered the rest of him. His hands were fisted and held up, as if silently cheering their digimon on. But the skin around his eyes was lined with strain, his jaw visibly clenched as he struggled to keep their connection to maintain the evolution. Those eyes suddenly fell on him and Ken couldn’t tear his own away, drawn in by their bright intensity. But…he also saw something else in there. Sadness…? Hurt…? Ken dropped his gaze, his heart throbbing at the sight.
This, arguably, was Daisuke’s fault. If he hadn’t said…those things…during the get-together, none of this would have happened like this. He wasn’t even sure how Daisuke had found out. He thought he had hidden well…But Daisuke had found out anyway…about those feelings that he’d been harboring for a few months now. It had been in poor taste for Daisuke to tease him like that in front of all of their friends, pouring Ken’s emotions out for everyone to see and mock. It had…hurt. Daisuke was his best friend…so why had he decided to do that…? It just didn’t make sense.
But even now, Ken couldn’t bring himself to be upset at Daisuke.
Stupid Daisuke…
A cry got his attention, pulling him from his thoughts and spiraling back into the battlefield. He looked up sharply to find Daisuke barreling towards him, panic written across his face. Ken only blinked at him, confused at such a reaction. Daisuke’s mouth moved, but Ken couldn’t make out what he was saying, the sounds of battle roaring in his ears. And as such, he could only stare as Daisuke ran towards him, oblivious to all else.
And then the bond shifted.
What was once closed off suddenly tore itself open, thoughts and emotions pouring out for both to feel. Ken’s eyes slowly widened, the weight that had settled on his chest since this had begun lifting as he felt Daisuke again. His regret, his pain, his…love…? Ken’s mouth dropped open, his perspective shifting just like that.
Oh…
Oh!
Daisuke hadn’t been teasing him. He…The confession had been real… Daisuke really felt that way about him… And…and he’d been too oblivious to realize it. Daisuke wasn’t the stupid one… He was. Colors slowly bled back into the world, happiness building in him.
Daisuke loved him.
Daisuke loved him.
A weight slammed into him, knocking him straight off his feet. Something collided with the ground in front of them, the earth shaking violently with the force. His head slamming into the ground, his vision blacked out momentarily. When he came to, there was a stupid grin on his face, his thoughts swirling around his sudden realization. He blinked up at Daisuke, watching as eyes that had been squeezed shut slowly open. A faint, relieved smile flickered across Daisuke’s face, his arms shaking from their spots on each side of Ken.
“Are you alright?” he asked, a hint of something Ken couldn’t identify running under his tone.
“Daisuke…” Ken breathed, nodding silently. “I’m alright.” Daisuke’s eyes fluttered shut for a moment, his shoulders sagging.
“Good…” he breathed. “That’s…good…” One of Daisuke’s hands jumped to his mouth, his entire body shaking as he coughed. His eyes squeezed shut, his eyebrows pinching together. Something hard nudged against Ken’s side, but he paid it no mind, his eyes glued to Daisuke.
“Daisuke…?” A dark liquid dripped from between Daisuke’s fingers, spattering onto Ken’s cheek. A faint metallic tinge filled the air, growing stronger the more Daisuke coughed. Ken’s eyes widened, his breath freezing in his throat. As he gasped roughly for air, Daisuke’s hand fell away from his face, the cloth of his torn glove saturated with glimmering blood. His teeth were stained scarlet when Daisuke smiled wearily at him again, the color slowly beginning to drain from his face.
“I’m…really glad you’re alright…Ken…” Ken’s eyes frantically jumped around Daisuke’s body, searching for what could be wrong. At another nudge, Ken felt nausea churning in his stomach, horror filling him as his eyes finally landed on the problem. A wooden shaft, originating from one of the nearby buildings, had stabbed right through Daisuke’s side, its tip stained with blood. More dripped down the sides, collecting on the ground below. “Don’t…worry… It’s not…as bad as it looks…” Even as he spoke, Daisuke’s eyes fluttered shut, his body sagging atop Ken. Ken’s heart pounded frantically in his chest, his face cadaverous at the sickly warmth that was beginning to soak into his shirt.
No.
Nononononono…
