I love kombucha. I started making my own kombucha at home, following their directions, and it's been turning out great!
I use filtered water, and I boil it for 20 minutes on the stove to evaporate the chlorine.
I have to start off with nine or ten cups of water, because about 2 cups will evaporate in that time.
I preheat my oven to about 225°F.
I scrub my jars with hot soap and water, then spritz them with vinegar, let it sit for a minute, rinse, and then I pop a baking tray in the oven, put the jars on that, and I let them dry in there for 10 minutes. Take them out, fill them with hot tea.... let it cool to room temperature, then add my scobies.
It makes me so happy. It tastes so good, homegrown.
I can use my favorite black tea:
They have instructions for secondary fermentation, and adding fruit flavors, but I haven't tried those, yet.

Clairbilitea: A Recipe for Knowing and Experiencing the Unknowable and Unexperiencable
or, A Potion for Improving Psychic Faculties
(recipe under the cut)
This tea can be made with roughly equal parts (I usually do one fat pinch each) of any three of the following ingredients:
-Sage
-Mullein
-Mugwort
-Mint
-Jasmine
-Thyme
-Lemongrass
You will also need:
-Honey, maple syrup, agave, sugar, or other sweetener
-Moon Water (preferably Dark or New Moon)
And you may want:
-A glass or ceramic vessel for storage or consumption
-A refrigerator
-A food-safe thermometer, OR an electric kettle, OR three ice cubes
-A muslin tea bag, OR a metal tea bag, OR a strainer
Boil water to roughly 160°F / 71°C. Meanwhile, add three herbs from above list to tea bag or strainer (my favorites are sage, mullein, and mugwort for potency; but sage, mint, and jasmine for taste). Add sweeter of choice to taste in vessel. Position the herb thing in or over the vessel. Hold your hands over the ingredients and feel their energy. Align your vibrations with theirs. Try to feel or imagine the specific psychic and intuitive capabilities these herbs have, and politely ask the herbs to contribute those abilities to your potion. Once complete, push your own will into the vessel, visualizing it as bright energy moving in a clockwise fashion through the herbs and into the sweeter at the bottom of the vessel.
Once the water has reached 160-165°F or so, pour gently over the herb mix and into the vessel. If you have to use fully boiled water, then I recommend using approximately 3 or 4 ice cubes in the bottom of the vessel, and don't pour directly over the herbs but first into the vessel and THEN add the herbs once the ice has melted.
Allow the infusion to steep for approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove the herbs, add a splash of moon water, and then stir or lid and shake in a clockwise direction while focusing on your extrasensory perceptions. Feel your energy and intention pouring down your arm and into the vessel.
The herbs can be steeped twice before disposal, so I recommend first making a batch in a sealable container like a mason jar or reused kombucha bottle or something and letting it cool for an hour before putting it in the fridge to keep for up to two weeks. Meanwhile you can make a second batch for immediate consumption.
The size of the batch can be scaled for the intended number of servings. I usually get two with my pinch-per-herb method: one for now, one for later.
You can also increases the potency of the brew by drinking it alongside a shot of alcohol or vinegar on an empty stomach.
After or while drinking, I highly recommend activities such as divination (tarot, pendulum, ouija, scrying, etc), spirit communication, or meditation. If you fall asleep, bring a pen and notebook to bed so you can dream journal immediately upon waking.
Be safe and have fun!

random ask: what is your go-to daily drink? your special occasion drink? detail delightful, recipe spectacular.
∧,,,∧ ( ̳• · • ̳) / づ♡ I love you drinks [you're pretty cool though]
(yes i stole your ask but only bc it was a v good one)
haha tyyy ❤❤ (nah but steal away, the more the merrier)
100% my go to answer is tea. i don't drink coffee at all (i hate the taste) and i also don't really enjoy energy drinks and soda and stuff so much, but i am a big tea fan. got into it when i was growing up bc my mum drinks it, and once i got to uni things just sort of... spiraled.
(look there was a tea club and at one point i was treasurer for a year and things got very out of control. on that note: lapsang souchong is gross and literally the only thing i can taste when i drink it is smoked fish, the smoky taste is such too much)
anyway, i enjoy black tea with milk (ceylon is a common one for me, or earl grey) but i have so, so many kinds of tea. the problem with people knowing you like stuff like this is they default to buying more of it for you for birthdays and christmas and the like, so my collection just got really extreme. i wasn't even buying much, but people kept giving it to me and i couldn't drink it fast enough
random teas i own that i can remember off the top of my head:
pistachio and almond black tea
lychee black tea
genmaicha
green tea with peach
turkish apple tea
herbal homemade tea made by my aunt (mystery mix???)
rooibos with vanilla (and like four other kinds of rooibos??)
i had some TWG's napolean black tea for a while (sort of a black with vanilla), which was particularly good - that was my go to until i ran out, but its very difficult to get a replacement of in my country without importing it in :/
but like yeah, i have a whole huge collection which I'm now only just starting to properly put a dent in. i enjoy a lot of different ones, but i tend to default to black teas as my usual go to. when i'm out and about tho i also am guilty of enjoying a good boba tea, or ice tea, or kombucha (there's a feijoa one you can get in supermarkets here which is very tasty).
i don't really have a recipe to give you, but i'll give you my black tea specifications - full generous teaspoon of loose leaf, into sea critter tea strainer, leave on counter brewing for a few minutes, heavy splash of milk, no sugar, drink when still very hot

Hmm - the last batch might have been a wunder-brew, with gold stars all round - but this one's a bit more of a mixed bag
Things started well, the black tea F1 fizzed up nicely when I gave it a stir.
Raspberry (225g) Orange (50ml) & Lemongrass (2 stalks)
Pineapple (230g) Orange (50ml) & Ginger (10g)
Strawberry (230g) Lemon (40ml) & Lavender (2tsp)
(I had a bit of a brain-fart when I was making the labels, wrote green tea instead of black 🤭)
I found a bunch of recipes for raspberry lemongrass jam - and decided to see if it's a combo that works in booch too... but it didn't turn out so great. The lemongrass flavour didn't come through at all - except for an odd aftertaste, which I'm choosing to blame on the lemongrass. It was still drinkable, but nothing to rave about. (Think I might try again with dried lemongrass and see if it works better).
So the flavour I was most interested to try, didn't exactly shine - but the other two were winners.
Strawberry goes perfectly with lavender, I'll definitely be doing this one again. (It did actually carbonate really well, I was just a bit slow taking the pic).
And pineapple and ginger are both just magical kombucha ingredients - you can put them with just about anything and it always works - so it's no surprise that they work beautifully together. And look at that fizz! 😁

INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS KOMBUCHA
Kombucha is a fizzy tea drink made by fermenting tea with sugar and a special mix of yeast and bacteria called a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast). This fermentation process gives kombucha its tangy taste and natural bubbles. People like kombucha for its refreshing flavor and possible health benefits. It’s packed with probiotics, which are good bacteria that can help with digestion and support your immune system. You can enjoy kombucha on its own or use it as a mixer in drinks. These probiotics can aid with better digestion, increased nutritional absorption, and gut flora balance. Digestive Enzymes Food is broken down and digestion might be aided by the enzymes produced during fermentation

KOMBUCHA INGREDIENTS
Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage known for its refreshing taste and potential health benefits
The key ingredients used in making kombucha are :
1. Tea - Typically black or green tea, providing the base flavor and essential nutrients. Some variations use herbal teas for unique flavors.
2. Sugar - White sugar is commonly used, though alternatives like cane sugar or honey can be used. Sugar is crucial as it fuels the fermentation process.
3. SCOBY - The Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast is essential for fermentation. It transforms the sweet tea into kombucha by producing beneficial acids and enzymes.
4. Starter Tea - This is kombucha from a previous batch or store-bought kombucha. It introduces necessary acids and microorganisms to jumpstart fermentation.
These simple yet vital ingredients work together to create kombucha’s distinctive taste and probiotic benefits. Explore the world of kombucha and discover the perfect blend for your taste !
DOES KOMBUCHA CONTAINS ALCOHOL?
Kombucha can contain alcohol, but typically in very small amounts. During the fermentation process, kombucha produces alcohol as a by product, but most commercially available kombucha has less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), which is considered non-alcoholic. However, some kombucha brands or homemade versions can have higher alcohol content, especially if they are left to ferment for longer periods. If you're concerned about alcohol content, it's a good idea to check the label or consult the manufacturer. But you can use Himalayan Monal brand which does not contain any alcohol at all, you can purchase it from this website. Shop - Himalayan Monal

Discover 8 Probiotics for Vegans for a Happy Gut: Benefits and More
Hello, readers! Have you ever wondered about the hype around good bacteria and gut health? But what exactly is good bacteria, and why is it so popular?
Probiotics, also known as good bacteria, are live cultures of microorganisms that, when consumed, can benefit your gut health. They also strengthen gut immunity and enhance the immune system. But here's the twist – are probiotics suitable for vegans?
People choose veganism for various reasons, such as lactose intolerance, fitness, diet goals, or environmental and ethical concerns. While yogurt, a well-known probiotic food, is off-limits for vegans, many alternative sources naturally contain probiotics.
In this blog, we'll highlight some of the best probiotics for vegans. You'll learn about various vegan probiotic foods, and their benefits, and get answers to some common questions. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!
What Are Probiotics?
Probiotics are live strains of microorganisms, such as bacteria and yeast, that benefit gut health. While our digestive system already contains trillions of gut bacteria, probiotic bacteria join them to assist in digestion, immunity, and even mood enhancement. Think of them as tiny gardeners, tending your gut's ecosystem and keeping harmful bacteria in check.
Some common bacteria strains used in probiotics are:
Lactobacillus acidophilus and L. rhamnosus
Bifidobacterium bifidum and B. longum
Saccharomyces boulardii
Probiotics are generally considered safe to consume, though they can sometimes cause undesired bacterium-host interactions.
8 Amazing Vegan Probiotic Foods for Gut Health
Probiotics for vegans can be made at home or found in stores. Here are some popular and accessible vegan probiotic foods you can include in your diet:
1. Kimchi
Kimchi is a common Korean food made from fermented cabbage, known for its spicy flavor. It contains vitamins, probiotics, and antioxidants. The recipe typically includes gochujang (Korean red pepper flakes), ginger, and garlic, along with napa cabbage, radish, green onions, and carrots. Kimchi can be prepared at home or bought from stores, but check ingredients as some varieties may contain seafood.
2. Vegan Probiotic Yogurt
Yogurt is a staple when discussing probiotics for vegans. Vegan versions use non-dairy plant sources like almonds, soy, coconuts, peas, oats, or cashews instead of cow's milk. Most vegan yogurts contain live active cultures, or probiotics, promoting healthy digestion.
3. Kombucha
Kombucha is a popular fermented tea made from a SCOBY starter (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast). Despite its gelatinous appearance, it is packed with healthy bacteria. SCOBY starters can be bought online or at health food stores, and pre-brewed kombucha is available at grocery stores and coffee shops. Note that kombucha may contain small amounts of alcohol, which might not be suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
4. Tempeh
Tempeh, similar to tofu, is a soy-based food made by fermenting soybeans. It is high in protein and probiotics and has a solid texture, making it versatile in various cuisines. Vegans can use tempeh in salads, stir-fries, burgers, and sandwiches.
5. Fortified Dairy Alternatives
Dairy alternatives fortified with probiotics are valuable for those with lactose intolerance or following a plant-based diet. Some fermented dairy substitutes, like soy and nut milk, contain live cultures. Choose products with minimal added sugars and clean ingredients for optimal gut health benefits.
6. Supplements
Probiotic supplements are a convenient option for those who don't have time to prepare probiotic-rich foods or don't enjoy their taste. However, not all probiotic pills are vegan, so always check the packaging. Reliable suppliers can be found online, in pharmacies, and at health food stores.
7. Water Kefir
Water kefir is a probiotic drink similar to kombucha. It uses water kefir grains as the source of the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. By combining them with sugar water, juice, or coconut water, you can create a mildly flavored and nutritious drink. The grains can thrive and be reused with proper care, providing a sustainable source of probiotics.
8. Pickled Veggies
Fermented veggies are an easy source of probiotics for vegans. Popular choices include red bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, and green beans. While fermented vegetables are healthy, they are high in sodium, so moderate consumption is advised to avoid high blood pressure and water retention.
Benefits of Probiotic Foods
Research indicates that different bacterial strains can benefit the body in various ways. Vegan probiotic foods may offer advantages such as:
1. Better Digestion
Probiotics increase the number of good bacteria in the gut, improving digestive functions, enhancing nutrient absorption, and preventing issues like constipation, Crohn’s disease, and IBS.
2. Improved Mental Health
Gut health can influence mental health. Healthy gut microbiota may improve overall health by creating neurotransmitters like serotonin, which help with mood and may reduce depression and anxiety symptoms.
3. Better Vaginal Health
Probiotics help maintain the pH balance in the vaginal system, preventing infections and maintaining healthy vaginal health.
4. Lowered Risk of Cancer
Research suggests that alterations in gut microbiota may be involved in conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colon cancer. Probiotics help prevent these diseases.
5. Reduced Negative Effects of Antibiotics
Probiotics can help mitigate the complication of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD), which affects one-third of antibiotic users.
6. Management of Diabetes
Probiotics may help alleviate type 2 diabetes symptoms by improving lipid metabolism and glycemic control.
7. Reduced Risk of Metabolic Illnesses
Probiotics show promise in treating and preventing metabolic diseases like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity by influencing metabolic pathways and promoting a healthy gut environment.
The Final Say
Probiotic bacteria offer numerous health benefits, including disease risk reduction and improved mental and vaginal well-being. Probiotic-rich foods are a tasty way to increase the intake of healthy microorganisms and are a great addition to a balanced diet.
Even if you are vegan, you can include probiotic foods. Vegans can enjoy fermented foods and beverages that enhance their gut health and well-being without consuming dairy.
