Spirits are the souls of loved ones that have left the living world, some pass on to the threshold of reincarnation, some haunt the living with their past regrets and unfinished business. But some…linger. While they hold no malice to cause suffering onto the living, some spirits feel they are not yet ready to leave. Not when they worry for the well-being of those they left in the land of the living. Despite the circumstances of her passing, while not having any problems left behind, Ruka worried for her young sons she could not have the opportunity to raise herself. Worried that the neglect her husband inadvertently caused would make their sons suffer, she lingered. Hoping to watch over them in her own way, she is drawn to the sound of silence and warm light coming from the open door. Quiet snores came from their bedroom, and watching another care for them while bittersweet, gave a sense of relief to her soul seeing their peaceful faces lost in the world of dreams. Just as the woman with eyes like honey hummed with content as she fixed the blankets, so did Ruka watch on with a knowing smile, her ruby eyes glittering with a comforting gaze. Her sons were alright, they were not alone…..but did her husband feel the same?

Looking over her shoulder, she was met with shadows, and through the dim light could see a hunched form. Too lost in his own thoughts, tormenting himself with those doubts that clouded both his mind and his features. She remembered he used to look softer, more confident with his kindness……and yet his once warm bright face…..now ridden with inexplicable exhaustion. Seeing her husband cause himself such pain, refusing to sleep and instead holding onto that bottle as if it could bring him any comfort. From where the spirit stood she could sense his unease even with his back turned away. He didn’t seem to want to acknowledge the open doors behind him, as if seeing the sons she left to him could not ease his broken heart…..it brought a deep sorrow to the spirit to see him like this. As much as she wanted to comfort him, to urge him to look at their sons, she knew the world of spirit had no foothold in influencing the living like that. No….all she could do was watch him wallow in grief, and yet even then she hoped. Wishing he could see that even with her absence, he was not alone and was loved. Praying that he would be able to get himself out of the hole he was digging for himself. Hoping he would one day turn around and look into the light without shame or fear, that he wouldn’t be afraid of being there for his sons…..Before it was too late.

Back on a wonderful Saturday to bring in the angst train😂🤣😭. I feel Ruka had always been there in some capacity, brought on with the worry of the family she left behind. Seeing her sons thriving and peaceful is a relief…but seeing the sadness Shinjuro is still going through brings a pain to her. Ruka would have given anything to be back with them, but she has accepted that it cannot be, and that moving on is part of living and creating a good future. Concerned that Shinjuro is blinded by his own sadness to see that his sons still need him, more then ever now that she can’t be there…all she can do is hope that he will realize it before he will regret not being there when it matters most. Hatomi may not see her, but I’m certain Ruka would be happy that she chose to be there for them. Ruka as the mother of the two blessings she left behind, appreciates that her sons are being looked after by another mother that made the conscious decision to protect them. Amari actually prefers bland foods because her taste buds can't really handle the other intense flavor profiles

2. Secret People Close to Her Would Know:

She has a special journal that she sometimes carries with her. Only her closest friends and most trusted loved ones know certain contents.

3. Secret She Wouldn't Mind if It Got Out:

She's sort of a jack of all trades, master of none when it comes to creative trades. Poetry, sketching, embroidery, painting, (she refuses to go near any type of sculpting or pottery after Muichiros battle with Gyokko). She's not a genius at them, but she still partakes in them because she enjoys the creative spirit.

4. Secret One Person Knows:

Muichiro accidentally walks in on her true humanity. How she's breaking down, sobbing and holding her chest but the moment she sees him, stops in an instant. Cleans up the tears on her face and brings her features back to a neutral expression, her breathing low and slow, minus a slight hitch here and there.

5. Secret No One Knows But She Wants to Tell:

She plays the nohkan and she only plays while she's alone because she doesn't think she's very good. However it's very relaxing for her and her crow.

6. Secret No One Knows And She Doesn't Want to Tell:

She had to defeat Hayate multiple times in hand to hand combat in order to be able to go to final selection. She still feels guilty and apologizes in their letters.

!!DEMON SLAYER OC!!

First of! I’d like to say I did use a base for this! The base was made by Cashew_bases on Pinterest ^^ it was a total pain to make but in the end im extremely proud of it! Idk if I’ll post more of her or not but I’m super happy with how it looks!

I got the idea of her from character ai actually- funny enough. But anyways- here she is! I absolutely LOVE her as I said before, I’ve made several demon slayer ocs in the past and I can’t say this one’s my favorite, but I do like her a lot and I do want to make more of her eventually:)) but yea idk what to say now so I’m just gonna add the tags and post it 👍

Amari's Taisho Era Secrets:

(aka Fun Facts) I will add more as I think of them 🩶

1. She originally had a blue jay named Nobue when she first joined the Corps. She asked for a crow instead to fit in (and named him Gakuto because he enjoys studying with her 😊).

2. Her body scars and her white pupils (Leukocoria) are from the day her home exploded. She also has an intense fear of fire, which is why it takes her so long to meet Rengoku.

3. It was a surprise to the other Pillars to see how well her and Sanemi got along. Truth is, after their initial meeting, they avoided each other. Until Amari found him in private, crying his eyes out. That's when they had a very long talk and learned that they're both still as human as each other. They 'protect' each other now (emotionally).

4. The reason why she has so many creative hobbies involving her hands, is because she would pick at her fingers and hands until they bled if she didn't. Her favorite pastime is braiding (bracelets at first and then Muis hair).

5. She has memory issues like Muichiro, but they're not as severe as complete amnesia. She gets more of a 'deja vu' type feeling with vague and blurry images every now and then. If she can't figure out what it means, she disregards it. She doesn't tell anyone either unless they're able to guess.

6. She enjoys gift giving 💝. She'll likely give the same things over and over again (see above lol) but she'll start with giving someone a bracelet before it turns into something they enjoy!

7. She originally had gotten a 'Mitsuri' style uniform from the Corps as well, but she just altered it until she met Shinobu. After that, Shinobu helped her get a uniform like Kanaos (crediting @shycroissanti with this bc I didnt think of it until I saw their art this morning 🥰)

8. Gyomei was her first choice for Tsuguko training because she wanted to abandon suffocation altogether. She thought it was holding her back and making missions take too long. Master Kagaya actually convinced her AND Muichiro (when they spoke with him separately) by saying that they may 'find a surprising value in one another.'

9. She has a secret friend who runs a wisteria house 🫢 (future OC).

10. Her strength compared to the other Pillars? She's in between Iguro and Mui. For speed? She's actually closer to Rengoku!
