If youre a carbohydrate slut like i am. And also lazy and or a fan of prepackaged noodles. Ive got a tip.
First these are the products available where i live
Feel free to substitute for any pre packaged pasta and instant ramen square that you can get your hands on and enjoy eating.
First choose youre package of side dish noodles i chose pasta roni for this. Add the full amount of liquid plus 1/4 cup water.
Start warming it and follow the instructions on the package. When its time to add the noodles and flavour powder you do it normal and stir it in then immediately add the flavour pack and noodle brick of ramen.
Then just cook until its done and thickened. It turns a side dish that barely fills one (me) person into a side dish that’ll feed three easily. Instead of cooking 2 packages of sidekick/pasta roni which are $1.70-2.50 each depending on sales you stretch it out for a $0.25 pack of ramen.
Delicious.

- one packet Neoguri instant noodles
- two tablespoons brown sugar

Cook everything together with one cup more water than the instructions on the Knorr packet ask for. Serve when thick. It is SO DAMN GOOD.

We still had ground beef-and-pork mixture in the fridge that needed used up, so tonight I decided to turn out a more Swedish-style meatloaf for a change.
Here it is about to go in the oven. (I do like to make a little indentation in the middle, for hopefully more even cooking.)
A.k.a., lazy meatballs. Because you use the same kind of meat mixture and usually sauce. It just gets baked as a loaf instead. You can do basically the same thing for hamburger steaks or cabbage rolls too. Tonight we're getting meatloaf.
I'm more used to a tomato-heavy meatloaf flavor approach, and this is actually my first time making it this way. The idea is certainly sound enough.
One decent-looking recipe in English (if on the more complicated side):
Note: This WILL make a very wet, soft mixture that you'll want to let rest in the fridge while the oven heats up, before trying to shape it in your pan. Disposable gloves may be your best friend through this whole process.
The base recipe I went for was one that uses oatmeal and a little potato/cornstarch instead of breadcrumbs, because it's an easy and cheap GF option that I like to use for meatloaf anyway. Also raw finely chopped onion, instead of any precooking on that. Being the person I am, I used buttermilk for part of the milk to soak the oatmeal or crumbs with. I went mostly in the direction of a little thyme and marjoram for seasoning, plus some Vegeta for extra umami yum. Ours did NOT get any Dijon, because I totally forgot to put it in. That does seem pretty standard, though. Don't think we'll really miss the flavor, it has enough other seasonings.
Another simple English recipe for the kind of gravy you're looking for, btw:
This will be getting some slightly degreased pan drippings, corn or potato starch thickening, and some Knorr beef bouillon cube. Also more of the thyme-and-marjoram herbing approach.
Planned to go with it: instant mashed potatoes (which are actually surprisingly decent here), and my own Swedabilly fusion take on pressgurka. I.e., the usual marinated sliced cucumber and onion I like to make with cider vinegar, but with some dill thrown in. I like a little pepper too.
I would normally go for at least one cooked vegetable with meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but hey. Saves me messing around with another hot dish.
That meatloaf is certainly starting to smell good baking.

dinner @ CQ Noodle & Bubble
CQ Noodle & Bubble (where CQ is short for "Chong Qing") - a Chinese noodle place on 104th Street. I had thought it took the location of another noodle place but no, I was wrong. The one I was thinking of still exists haha
Clara & I came here for our Christmas dinner last month. We came on a Tues late afternoon around 4:30. Once you open the door & walk in, you'll breath in a mix of Sichuan spice & sweet bubble(/bubbletea powder?) aroma. It's quite the mix of fragrances!
So the reason why we came was bcos. .. I suggested it. TBH, I'm not big on the whole Sichuan spice/mala flavour. I wanted to come & try the cocunut mango slush. I can't remember where/how I discovered that this place has this item. .. but it's not a common item on menus here. I don't think the English name gives an accurate description of this drink but tranditionally, this dessert-drink contains mango, pomelo (some places replace it with grapefruit), sago (the small white kind; NOT the large black sago pearls in bbt), coconut milk & milk/cream.
Their main menu (photo I took in-store).
I say the main menu bcos this was the double-sided laminated sheet (with the drinks) but they also this page-protector bundle(?) that had other menu items as well. I didn't take pictures of that unfortunately. But it had basically colour-photocopied pages of some appitizers, like marinated cucumbers, braised egg, wings, along with some seasonal items, I would say. Clara has been here before & she said she did not see this 'other' menu last time she came.
Interior. I didn't get a full-view shot bcos there were other customers during our time there. My attention was drawn to the chopstick holder & the fact that each table has a bottle of vinegar! In case you're wondering what's so special about the chopstick holder. .. they actually used a Knorr chicken essence powder container lol Google that if you don't know what that is!
My sad drink. . . . . .
It came & I as like . .. is this the right one??? It is so pale in colour & there's no sago pieces; no visible mango. .. I guess they did say slush so maybe it's all like blended??? But that name, then, would be completely not applicable.
I don't usually inquire about items at a restaurant after it arrives art the table but I ended up asking about it. I was like where is the grapefruit/pomelo topping??? The staff said they ran out & asked if I wanted other toppings as well, in which I refused. I left the drink untouched/unpoked on the side as Clara & I waited for our mains. When the staff came by to bring our food, she offered to have the drink be taken off the bill if I didn't like it. & I said, it's okay (bcos. .. I'm just not that kind of person). -.-"
BUT I must say, it turned out to be "useful" bcos. ..
Our noodles were large-portioned & NUMBLING-LY SPICY!
Clara's intestine (mild spicy) noodles & my braised beef (medium spicy) noodles.
One sniff & your sinus will be cleared lol
I'm quite good at spicy foods but this was just . .. kinda painful. I'm not good with Sichuan spice but thought mild might be too mild so I went for the safe "medium" but then . .. few bites in, I was regretting it a little xD therefore, it was actually a good thing I kept the slush bcos I needed it! I honestly couldn't tell if it was actually watered down or if it was quite sweet bcos truthfully speaking, my mouth was all numb & tingly. Anything cold just felt cold, you know, & offered temporary relief.
That being said, noodles were great. Beef was great! Their meat had a nice balance of lean & fatty parts. & for these reasons, I finished it despite being uncomfortable lol
We also got a side of chicken & mushroom wontons in soup to share. It's not really a side but a main menu item but when it's shared by 2, it's a good portion as a side. I didn't like this very much. I have high standards for wontons bcos our homemade ones are really good (store bought wrapper with my mom's filling). I think I just grew up eating my mom's so anything diff, even if it's the same ingredients, it's just not the same. I found the filling quite stiff & there wasn't much mushrooms in it (ie: felt like a ball of dry meat). OR maybe northern Chinese wontons are like this! I'm not sure! The broth was also not flavourful; just very strong in sesame oil. Sesame oil doesn't have much of a savoury flvaour, it's a condiment, really. So the soup was quite bland =(
Would I come again?... I don't know.
I'm usually quite decisive but the reason I don't know is bcos I have other menu items that I'm intersted in but I really didn't enjoy this meal as a whole. So a visit #2 is =/ would it also be disappointing? Or would it blow my mind?? I wanna try the hot pot beef noodles & the Yunnan coffee bcos. .. it's coffee! Like is the bean from Yunnan? Is it powdered instant coffee that's labeled "Yunnan coffee"? lol they don't have a particular brewing method so. .. I am interested in what kind of Yunnan coffee they serve.
What do you think? Revisit? or no?
I mean, it's probably worth another try & if it's disappointing again, I'll stop lol

Trying the Knorr Korean Ramen Spicy Jjajanmyeon Veg Meal for ₹60
I added a fried egg on top 🍳
Quantity was 100gm, pretty decent
Noodles were thick and chewy, loved the texture
Vegetable broth smelled good
Spice level 3.5/5 (gave me a runny nose, might blame my low capsaicin tolerant 🍑)
Authenticity 2/5 (didn't expect much anyway cuz they spelled 짜장면 wrong). Also, why are they trying to write 짜장면 on the seasoning packet? 면 is the noodles.
Overall rating 6/10
Will try Buldak next 🙂
Here's my dessert 🍨
Buh-bye 👋

Jutro najprawdopodobniej wleci fast<3🦋🦋🦋

do they even have indomie in poland?
yea, it's widely sold in supermarket chains like auchan. action sells multipacks while lidl sells it seasonally. i have a korean grocery store in my area and they have it too. indomie is like half cheaper than majority of imported noodles
vs samyang
ajinomoto is trying to break into polish instant soups* market since like 2011 but their products are still not really as popular as idk knorr or vifon
shin ramen sometimes is priced at competitive range but its still $ if you're in pinch and rely on instant foods, it's on okay price for nerds who eat it occasionally however that's not a reliable market base
indomie is still kinda unknown, the price is lower than other imported soups but it's still like twice what known staple brands charge
*ramen is considered a soup (little soup to be precise, diminutive zupka from zupa) while noodles are separate category reserved for stuff like pasta dishes, however thanks to internet influencing younger people, the words are their meanings are changing. things like kluski would be considered noodles i guess but locally they fall under separate food category

do knorr cheesy broccoli noodles count?? cuz those are fantastic.
i know, what a fusilly answer! (*rimshot*)
i mean, i'm assuming you were thinking like ramen, but like to me instant ramen is instant ramen. some might be a little better than others, but it's hard to fuck up so I'm good with like whatever catches my eye at the store.

Vegetarian Breakfast Recipes
So for those who don't know @emoryvalentine14 (my wife) is vegetarian, and I am not but we respect each other's food choices because we love each other very much.
When Taylor first came to my house, she was used to only eating Knorr Butter Noodles and canned corn and green beans. It honestly, was quite tragic. For those who don't know her story, she comes from a very abusive household and has a mother who is a drug addict. I may post a post about that later. Her mother essentially starved her for 25 years of her life and right now she is only 97lbs (she has gained 4lbs since September which I am very proud of her because autistic beans don't always grow like they should because of food OCD basically)
Anyways, she was terrified of eating new things because of her OCD about textures and tastes so I made her a deal: if you try a bite and don't like it I will never cook it again.
In my teen years I had been a die-hard vegan for 5 years, and so I had a bit of background in cooking vegan (and later vegetarian). I decided I would make it my mission to make her good & healthy vegetarian food.
Fast-forward a few months now from September and she is now trying new things without fussing, up to eating all sorts of good and healthy foods, and raves about how great a cook I am lol.
I would like to share some of her favorite recipes since Valentine's Day just passed!
Breakfast
Vegetarian Bagel with Swiss, Ripe Olives, Sliced Tomato, and Parsley
The picture above at the top of this post is the physical version of this recipe. Tay decided she loves fresh tomatoes but her favorite things are what she calls "toasties."
I try to cook her a good toasty breakfast every morning and this recipe is as follows:
1 slice of fresh roma tomato (thick cut) 1 toasted plain bagel 1 slice swiss cheese 3 - 4 sprigs of fresh Parsley (chopped) 1 small handful of ripe sliced olives (black olives) (optional) 1 or 2 sliced mushrooms (optional) 1 teaspoon / tablespoon of Parmesan Ranch (optional) black pepper to taste on tomato slices To start off I toast the bagel, then I layer it with all the ingredients (washing the parsley and mushrooms very good), and pop it into the microwave for about 30 seconds to melt the cheese and warm the veggies slightly. Then if she wants the Parmesan ranch, I put a small amount on the top bagel (spread it). She also occasionally likes adding some black pepper to taste on the tomatoes.
Lunch
Taylor is a huge fan of salads so one of her favorites right now is fruity salads with her Parmesan ranch lol.
Berry-Delightful Garden Salad
This beautiful salad features fresh blackberries and blueberries, a few sliced / cubed apples, and a lot of cheese which is Taylor's favorite.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup blackberries, fresh 1/4 cup blueberries, fresh 2 cups of Garden Salad blend with carrots and red cabbage 1 handful of toasted almonds 1/4 cup feta cheese 1 handful of mozzarella cheese (skim) 1 teaspoon of grated parmesan Parmesan Ranch or Avocado Ranch to taste (optional) cubed Hass Avocados
Preparation:
Wash everything, then put the garden salad in, the berries in, and the almonds in, layer it with the cheeses, put some cubed Avocados in, and then top with ranch to taste.
Dinner
Gardein Chick'n Tender Sandwich
This is Tay's new favorite dinner. I cooked her this for Valentine's Day and she absolutely loves the vegan tenders on it.
Ingredients:
4 Gardein Vegan Chick'n Tenders 2 slices of Roma Tomatoes 1 handful of Feta Cheese 1 slice of Swiss 1 teaspoon of Parmesan Ranch 2 Kings Hawaiian Buns
Recipe:
Cook the tenders how it says on the bag. We like the oven method because it makes them crunchy. Wash the tomato, slice it. Spread Parmesan ranch over toasted King's Hawaiian buns, then put the cheeses down, the tomatoes, and then put the chicken tenders on it when they're done. Really I just flip the sandwich because it's easier, otherwise the ingredients are hard to layer.
Conclusion
If you like the recipes I mentioned, feel free to ask for more. I may be posting quite a bit including what we spoil our cats with which is recipes I make for them (that are kitty friendly!). Hint: plain Prosciutto, string mozzarella, and Friskies is delicious to them. (I make it into kitty prosciutto wraps!)
Thanks :D also I love you @emoryvalentine14
