so many people hate eurylochus to like. an insane degree. because they think everything he does are acts of self preservation and it’s NOT it’s preservation of the CREW because he’s the voice of the crew RRRASWRRRR
odysseus, polities and eurylochus were such good buddies and worked so well together because odysseus lead them, polities kept high spirits (this makes him sound like a cheerleader. but like idk how else to describe it? he like encourages whimsy. idk.) and eurylochus kept both of them grounded so they wouldn’t do anything stupid. and it was perfect until polities died.
without polities, the crew couldn’t find the positives in odysseus going up to the island to meet with aeolus. it was only eurylochus arguing his opinion, which is, “don’t go, it’s stupid,” literally, physically grounding him. obviously this was going to sway the crew in his favour immensely. eurylochus is like 10x more approachable than odysseus to the crew. eury’s their buddy. ody is the champion of a goddess and their king. so not only does ody then not have that extra polities voice in the argument to help lead ody to a logical conclusion which benefits everyone, he is instead clashing with eurylochus and subsequently the rest of his crew. this pretty much goes the same way for most of the other disagreements they have for the rest of the journey.
eurylochus is also forced to fill in the space that polities left in supporting odysseus as he’s their captain, but he struggles with bridging the gap between seeing him as his captain/king and seeing him as his friend. which is why he switches between calling him, “captain/sir,” to “odysseus,” to “ody,” during mutiny, and then back to “captain.” it’s a verbalisation of his view on odysseus.
so when it comes to opening the windbag, the crew is already on edge about it. he went up alone after fighting with the closest friend he has left in the crew, refuses to open the bag, the winions are all telling them it’s treasure. and there is such a blatant lack of trust between them that likely wasn’t present before; ody would rather stay awake for nine days straight than trust eury not to open the bag. and eurylochus, being naturally mistrusting of gods and mythical creatures in general, would not trust the origins of this bag. he would not trust his friend’s behaviour to be true. he would likely make the connection that the wind bag is making him act like this, so he takes it from him and opens it. not mentioning the insane pressure from the crew he’s likely been put under.
so yeah. people love to paint him as this evil-doer that was trying to usurp odysseus from the beginning but the mutiny only happened because everyone could tell ody was losing himself to this whole “monster” thing, which is what they needed to get home with as many men as possible, but nobody else is likely going to fully realise that unless you sit them down and explain to them the whole process of the journey and explain every little detail in everything that happened. much less eurylochus who is, as established, very stubborn, and very mistrusting of things he does not understand. he didn’t think ody was fit to lead anymore; it wasn’t that he sacrificed six men to scylla, it’s that he just did it and didn’t think of any alternative plan. he didn’t consult anyone else, he just did it. eurylochus could see he was driving himself a little crazy over getting home to his wife. like i’m sure there would’ve been some people who would have volunteered to hold the torches if they all held a big meeting.
and then the cow. how does nobody realise killing helios’s cows is a suicide attempt? eurylochus knew they were going to die, he did not believe they were going to make it home, at least with the cows he can control it and at least his crew won’t die hungry.
anyways. this is a huge wall of text. i know eurylochus haters HATE to see me coming, i’m his no. 1 defender and apologist he does no wrong.

hey guys! i thought i'd cook with a new auuuu
epic the musical x octonauts au! i kinda just call it the Epic!Octonauts au
INFORMATION BELOW! vvvv
i don't have EVVVVERYTHING down yet but the story is the same as epic but instead of barnacles wanting to return home to his wife & son, he wants to return home to his sister & nephew (sorry ursa)
lemme list out who i think some characters should be just cus i have like some characters mapped out
i don't have everything figured out yeeet but i'll get there
odysseus- barnacles
eurylochus- kwazii
polites- peso
winions- vagimals
polyphemus - pete
poseidon- calico jack
zeus- inkling (HEAVY maybe... dk how i feel ab this one)
athena- tweak (maybe)
hephaestus- marsh
circe- dashi
tireseas- shellington
hermes- paani
calypso- tracker
anticlea- natquik
penelope- bianca
telemachus- orson
astynax- ursa
i think that's all i have rn
BY THE WAY tracker, instead of wanting to date barnacles, just really really wants him to be his brother!
dashi still acts the same as circe and there are still suitors for bianca tho. i scramble up the story quite a bit and there's still a lot of tweaks (heh.) that need to be made so the story makes a bit more sense (mostly for the ithaca characters cus it's difficult to work around since i changed the plot lol. basically since barn has been gone for so long they want bianca to officially take over and then marry her to be king or whatever)
here's some other doodles i've made. not every design is set in stone yet

Epic the Musical What if
(What if Odysseus didn’t kill the infant in Troy)
-The war with the Trojans went exactly the same as described in the song. Odysseus and the other armies were attacking Troy. They used the horse strategy.
-Odysseus gets his vision from Zeus. Telling him that there was someone his must kill.
-Sure enough, Odysseus finds the infant. (The people named him ‘Astyanax’ as his father Hector was the defender of Troy.)
-Now Odysseus begs Zeus to not make him do this.
- He sings “Just a Man” but instead of dropping the infant from the wall. Right when he was about to… he stops. Because he’s just a man.
-He takes Astyanax with him and his crew. Dropping a fake baby from a wall to get Zeus off his back.
-Odysseus renames the child. Calling him Eleos, the crew asked where he found the baby. Odysseus makes up a lie about finding him at the outskirts of town.
-The song “full speed ahead” occurs and the group end up on the island where Polyphemus is.
-But Odysseus is now a lot less guilt stricken, watching over the kid. He is more sure of his command, but… he does worry the gods will find out the truth.
-Odysseus decides to send a force with him (as he isn’t feeling guilty of baby murder). They find the winions and they tell Odysseus about the cave. (An alternate version of “open arms” plays)
-But Odysseus being more focused asked some follow up questions. Finding out about the cyclops.
-Athena shows up and asks Odysseus what the deal is with the infant. Odysseus says he found it just outside of Troy.
-Athena tells him not to get soft because of him. (Warrior of the mind) but is suspicious and feels like he’s hiding something.
-Odysseus decides to be more clever. Instead of just killing the sheep, Odysseus tells his crew to use stealth and sneak the sheep out.
-He told one of his crew to watch Eleos while they grabbed the sheep.
-Unfortunately the plan failed because one of the sheep started making noise and one of the crew stabbed the sheep to shut it up.
-Polyphemus woke up and the song “Polyphemus” goes the same way.
-But Odysseus was more prepared in advance, and had a larger group with him. And had a means of taking out the Cyclops. “Survive” became a different song with no casualties. And Polyphemus dies.
-They take the rest of the sheep and leave. Polites comments that he thought they were gonna die but were relieved they didn’t.
-The crew leave the island, with a victory song (now not called “Remember them,” but called heading home.)
-Athena had no complaints because Odysseus killed the cyclops and didn’t reveal his name. But she’s suspicious, and there is a song called “Hiding something.”
-There is still a Storm. “Storm” plays and while it’s not as bad, they do end up on the Sky Islands.
-Odysseus consults Athena regarding the storm, and if they should ask the wind god for help. Athena tells him no. But asks him about the infant again. This time tricking him into confessing.
-Odysseus confesses it’s the baby, Zeus told him to kill. Which horrifies Athena. Athena explaining to which Odysseus says he knows ( My Goodbye comes into play now)
-The storm cleared up and Odysseus looks at Eleos, wondering how this boy could be anything evil. He sees the soft smile, this boy is his son. He’s attached. He sings a variant of “Monster” but it’s called “No monsters here” about Eleos never becoming the monster fate said he would be.
-Despite everything, the group makes it home to Ithica. It only took them one year instead of 10, and no one died.
-Of course when Odysseus returned with 600 men, the suitors that had started to gather left immediately. (A new Song called “King Returns” ) Antinous was the only one that remained, claiming Odysseus wasn’t fit to be king, as he left his kingdom for 11 long years.
- A variation of the song “Little wolf” but changed to “Wolf” is played. Odysseus beats the shit out of Antinous and kills him.
-Odysseus reunites with Penelope and his 11 year old son Telemachus. He even sees his mother. Who had been waiting for his return. (The new song “Welcome Home” plays ending the first part of the musical.
-It cuts to 17 years later.
-Odysseus is king but he is older, and he had been preparing Telemachus to take his place.
-Penelope tells Odysseus of her concern regarding Eleos. The song “Luck runs out” but a different rendition, using Penelope talking to Odysseus.
-Eleos, now 18 years old and an absolute beast, has a match against his brother Telemachus called “Rivalry”. Up to this point Telemachus always beat Eleos, but he wanted to win so badly… he accidentally snapped his neck.
-This was very concerning, as the next song “Monster” is describing Eleos. Ithica turns against him as he killed their future king.
-Odysseus realized the prophecy and decided that he needed to correct his mistake (filled with grief over losing his son)
-Eleos flees not wanting to fight Odysseus (the song “Odysseus” plays with a different context.) Eleos barely escapes. Odysseus laments that if he was only a few years younger, he could have ended this.
-Eleos escapes and Laments his life, where the new Song “Tragedy” plays.
-He ends up fleeing to the ruins of Troy. Where he finds out the truth. The song “Ruthlessness” but altered to be about Eleos, as he abandons his name. Taking the name the people of his homeland once gave him, Astyanax.
-It cuts to years later, Odysseus is an old man and Penelope never had another child. Odysseus wonders if he acted to brashly with Eleos. He did learn it was an accident. The new song “Regret” plays.
-Ithica is set ablaze. As the new song “Avenger” plays. And the line from Odysseus “All I hear are screams” is said through out.
-Odysseus sees Eleos, and the song “No longer you.” Plays but it’s Odysseus singing it about Eleos. Comparing the child he knew to the monster before him.
-Odysseus tries to plead with him. But Eleos tells him his true name. Astyanax. And the new song “Revenge” plays (same tune as Mutiny)
-And sure enough, Astyanax kills Odysseus. He burns Ithica to the ground. Killing everyone.
-Astyanax looks around the destroyed kingdom. He sings a new song called “Just begun.” And he describes how Ithica was just the first. There were other kingdoms that destroyed his home and he would destroy them all. And it ends with “For it has only just begun”
-And that’s where it ends.

Honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if Ares was indeed helping Odysseus beat Poseidon up and why his eyes were glowing up red
In the books, Athena helps Odysseus twice with the Phaecians before he reaches Ithaca and she reveals herself. Now, the Phaecians don't appear in Epic
However, Athena's helping does
"Keep Your Friends Close" appeared in Athena's Time Dive in "Love in Paradise". Considering no one knew about what the bag was supposed to do except Aeolus (and the winions), im almost certain she was the one who told Hermes about it to give to Odysseus again. Poseidon here is more active than in the books (he was busy partying lmao), the bag coming back as a Chekhov's gun makes sense. That would be the first helping tied to the books: Athena there helps Odysseus "infiltrate" the Phaecians since they werent used to strangers and would have immediately killed him. She was dressed as one of them so Ody could use his wits to convince one of the girls to help and so the King.
Anyone wondering why a specific Winion suddenly got a Voice Actor?
Now how do the Phaecians help? They make Odysseus travel to Ithaca safe, during the night so he is safe from Poseidon's eyes (beats me how they thought a god couldnt sense someone at night but anyways) and him being asleep in a boat full of "treasure"
You know what else is called full with "treasure" in Epic?
Oh yeah, the windbag.
Now about Ares. We know he was watching Telemachus' and Antinous' fight. He calls both Ody and Telemachus weak and cowards for not even trying to fight when odds are against them (see Scylla). But in "600 Strike" Odysseus wants to fight Poseidon, he is tired and done with everyone's bullshit but specially the Gods. And we know that Ares also didnt like Athena being bullied by Zeus' in "God Games".
He was promised a bloodshed by his sister, but how one man can proof to being able to handle 108 men just by himself? Odysseus in the books was seen as weak because he used only a bow in his fights, since it was a "cowards weapon for being used to long distances attacks".
So he now uses a Trident. Odysseus is willing to change his mindset to go to see his family, to use a melee attack instead of avoiding fighting. Like the King of the Phaecians being impressed by Odysseus journey, Ares is also impressed by him actually wanting to fight a god. So he grants him help.
The last of Athena's helping hand before reaching Ithaca
#epic the musical#epic the vengeance saga#the odyssey#greek myth#am i reaching? maybe#but hey Jorge did say thay Ody has the power of 'god' and anime by his side#and I do think it was a testing to seem if Ody was worth helping or just let him drown#anyway that's my connection to the myths and Athena's helping hand#and a big ass analysis lmao

Have you listened/watched epic? And if you have what’s your thoughts?
Personally I think it’s a good thing to show to a friend new to Greek mythology. I just finished watching the last saga and I have to say I loved it, beautiful. Sad it ended tho :(
It might not be very accurate but I love the hardwork the cast put into it and so I love it very much
My thoughts on Epic the musical
So yes, I know about Epic. I even participated in the secret santa thing and am what we may call 'a winion'.
I just finished watching the livestream too ! I especially loved seeing the cast members were reacting to the sagas (Luke Holt was so funny in this 🤣. Also, Jorge carrying Mico like a baby in 'Just a man' and Mason being extra the whole time... so many gems in that livestream)
Since Epic is finished AND I have animatics of the Ithaca saga, I'll use this opportunity to make a more in-depth review of the musical. Instead of separating it in "good" or "bad", I'm reviewing it criteria per criteria.
The cast
Like I previously said, I LOVE the cast chemistry. They're all so fun and lively. I follow some of them separately, like Janani or Troy Doherty, and they're just delightful. Especially Troy as Hermes, he always manages to make me laugh. Every single time 😂.
Also, he gives me a bit of Mettaton vibes since he's extravagant, always over the top and a bit self-absorbed (the Hermes persona, I mean, not Troy Doherty himself). Maybe that's why I like him so much :3
And of course, there's Jorge, mr. Jalapeño, the man with the plan. I love how both passionate and humble he is, how he takes the time to thank everyone and just how much of a bundle of positive energy he is. I know it's an internet persona, but what I can see from him is some hopefully really nice guy in real life too.
Anyways, awesome cast chemistry, everyone made me laugh and they're all having a good time.
The music
This music is so beautiful 🥰. All the motifs, the emotions, the instruments, the voices ! If I had to rate Epic from the music alone, it would be 5 stars. I'm not saying this in a professional angle or anything, it's my personal feeling.
Seriously, I don't really have that much to say about the music because, to me, it's just that good. I love the variety, how different instruments synch themselves and, yeah.
The characters
Annnnd that's where the blind positive praise stops, unfortunately 😂.
Don't get me wrong, it's not awful either and there are good points. My favorite Epic characters are Hermes and Athena.
The rest ? It's mixed. In order not to make this too long, I'll focus on only some of them.
The story is very character-driven so I won't really delve into it in detail.
Odysseus : he's a good protagonist, especially in the first act. His dilemma is interesting, he has a strong personality and I like that he is just a broken man and not some mighty overlord... except in the Thunder and Vengeance sagas. I feel Jorge exaggerated the monster message a bit too much, imo. Odysseus is supposed to be a witty liar, a warrior of the mind. Not someone like Achilles who solves problems by fighting or fights gods like Heracles, much less freaking Poseidon.
Poseidon : okay ! I liked him in the first act, because FINALLY Poseidon isn't a surfer dude. He's a terrifying force of nature that was angered by mortal hubris (though the hubris thing isn't explained by Epic). In Get in the water, he kept his intimidating side. Because he's, yk, the king of the oceans, one of the most powerful Olympian gods. But his defeat partially ruined him for me 😂. It just doesn't make sense. Why is Odysseus afraid of Scylla and even tip-toes around Hermes, who is friendly, when he can stabby-stab Poseidon ? Why didn't Poseidon counterattack? So many questions.
Zeus : my problem with Zeus is easier to explain. Again, he was awesome in the first act, less so in the second. What I loved initially is how regal he was. Powerful, intimidating, kingly, but not evil either. He warns Odysseus of the gods' will and of fate, which always realizes itself in mythology. In Thunder Bringer, he's fine. His lustful and flighty side is shown, but we could interpret his intervention as avenging Helios and punishing the ones who ate the cows, instead of "Zeus is evil". But in God Games ? He's so pettyyyyy and childish. Where is the kingly attitude ? This "Beast Zeus" should come against Kronos or Typhon, or maybe when Athena and the others threatened his position. Not after a freaking game ! He just strikes Athena with thunder because she won fair and square. At LEAST Luke Holt absolutely killed it, so it's cool to listen to.
Penelope : she's underdeveloped :( . Okay, her bond with Odysseus was respected, they're adorable together. On her own ? Eh, she's fine. Which is a shame because she simply didn't have enough room to exist outside of Odysseus. Also, the fact that she doesn't interact once with her son is criminal imo.
I do have some other issues with characters like Circe and Calypso (basically they're declawed compared to the Odyssey), whereas I'm completely fine with others like Eurylochus, Telemachus or every god except Zeus and Poseidon. Though they're not perfectly accurate either but I don't have problems with them.
The crew in general is also underdeveloped, so I didn't feel much for them (until discovering the scrapped Elpenor and Perimedes songs/lh). They played their roles correctly.
I hated the suitors (that's a positive in Epic) and laughed when Antinous died. Though I wished they were more pathetic and less threatening. Musically it'd be worse but story-wise more fitting.
The story
Overall, it's fine. Most of the best points come from the Odyssey itself, the one change I liked the most was having Odysseus and Poseidon meet (not the way it ended though).
Also, story-wise, I prefer act 1 over act 2, because it's less over the place and more grounded.
But emotion-wise and music-wise, forgetting about the Odyssey, act 2 wins the cake.
Those were my thoughts on Epic :3
I tried not to judge it too much according to the Odyssey and some of my friends are more demanding on that plan (for perfectly legitimate reasons btw). But it's hard to separate Epic from the wonderful work of Homer and it's lacking in some areas.
Still, this journey was very fun, I love all the passion Jorge, the singers and the animatic artists put in, there are a lot of good things about it (I can't mention everything). I don't want to rate it because it's too rigid of a system. I listen to the songs on loop and, ultimately, I'm thankful Epic exists :)
I may come back to this post and reblog stuff if I have new relevant thoughts to add. I'll probably rank the sagas in another post.

Epic is over. You know what isn't over? My bf's and my own obsession over it. And over Saint Seiya: Knights of the zodiac. We rp a lot. And you know my my genius of a boyfriend did?
"What is we combined the two? Like, the very 1st generation of Saints are Heroes from ancient Greece. And we can put Epic on the same fucking timeline."
And I was like... yeah??? Tell me??
So here's how he planned it out.
Grand pope: Odysseus. The one being the link between Athena and the rest of the saints for obvious reasons.
Aries: Ajax the Great (which is ironic because he didn't find any merit from winning any battles with a goddess' help, and in the and, the goddess in question needs HIS help lol)
Taurus: Theseus. (Considering this is a war against Hades they're planning, Athena is just putting oil on fire as we say in French. Girl, you are not helping.)
Gemini: Castor & Pollux (Do I really need to explain that one?)
Cancer: Achilles (Dude did not ask to be brought back, but his acquaintance with hell was necessary. And after seeing seeing the Capricorn saint, he didn't mind)
Leo: Hercules/Heracles (let me tell you, Achilles is having fun tormenting him a little.)
Libra: Jason (Aeolus sometimes sends his winions at the sanctuary just to know how he's doing)
Virgo: Andromaque ("Remember the infant?" She watched her baby being thrown off a wall and now has to be under the orders of the one who killed her son and colleague with the one who killed her husband. She is filled with seething hatred and is planning revenge.)
Scorpio: Orion (who will train the ones bearing the cloth of his constellations and his dogs' so they don't bring shame to his name. Also Eris took a liking in him for some reason?)
Ophiucus (yeah, he said he probably was a gold saint back then, and not a silver one): Asclepios. (It's gonna cause a lot of problems, but also going to be very helpful.)
Sagittarius: Philoctecte (he doesn't mind helping Odysseus, but his foot is still hurt and he sometimes would've preferred Teucer in his place. He's still taking his role very seriously and rarely lets his guard down.)
Capricorn: Patroclus (Now you know why Achilles doesn't mind being here again. Athena needed someone strong headed, ready to kill on command. Though, once again, it doesn't help that a Myrmidon like him has to fight Aiacos, aka his LITTERAL KING)
Aquarius: Ganymedes (more trauma for the boy! But with Asclepios around, it helps a little and he is more at ease. Andromaque cares more for him than the rest because he still looks and acts younger than all of them.)
Pisces: ADONIS (Pretty boy, I don't know what he's doing here but the point of Pisces saints in saint seiya is that they are the most beautiful and still some of the strongest. Literally a rose with poisonous thorns. So I'll take it)
Bonus ones!
Altar (the one that is to take the Pope's place if he dies): Diomedes (because he was also a part of Athena's favourites and Odysseus really doesn't mind having him around)
Unicorn (one of the closest saints to Athena by devotion): Telemachus (more trauma for this boy as well! And this time, Odysseus is not really okay with it. But Telemachus really wants to and he doesn't want to go against his precious boy's wishes)
That's all for now! I'll keep you all updated if bf comes with new lore. He says "Athena genuinely tried her best when choosing the golds, but she doesn't get why it's messed up because she's a goddess with not all knowledge of how human anger and hatred towards one another really works so..."

A Smallishbeans Centric Epic! Au
Okay so first off I am going to set it up like so:
Epic!Character - Hermit/Lifer/Empyrian - my reasoning and design choices
Also this comes with new watcher lore at the end
please give ideas for Calypso and Apollo <333
Odysseus - Joel - He can be surspisingly clever at times, but I chose him for Ody more because 1 he’s straight and obsessed with his wife 2 he is a bloodthirsty bastard when he is red raging and 3 because he isn’t good with teammates
Zeus - Ren - It’s simple really, 1 he’s a theatre kid, 2 the red king
Penelope - Lizzie - well fist off, she’s Joel’s irl wife, but also because she is girlboss and a clever bitch
Telemachus - Hermes - he is Joel’s canonical kid and yeah
Eurylochus - Grian - very serious when he needs to be, is logical during the life series, and so would open the windbag for the lols
Polites - Jimmy - Canary curse, is baby, he can’t fight good and supports Joel and also would ensue shenanigans as soon as they are alone
Winions - Tanukis - a reference to @Mellozheist ‘s Hermitcraft tanuki!Joel design
Athena - Gem - She is an excellent fighter and is very logical when picking fights, she isn’t afraid to finish the job and the dynamic she and Joel had in Wild life felt similar to Ody and Athena’s (imagine Gem scolding Joel for going all bloodlust again after telling him not to red rage all season)
Polyphemus - Xornoth - big and only one eye but same design otherwise. Xornoth is terrifying in Esmp s1 lore. Imagine a giant one-eyed demon using corruption magic and a club to kill you, it’s also fun to point out that Joel didn’t acknowledge Xornoth at all in Esmp s1 and this is referenced in ‘tell me what’s your name?’ ‘My name is nobody’ Also this choice will make a lot of sense when you take into account who I picked for Poseidon
Aeolus - Scar - Now hear me out here, Scar is a prankster. This is a good prank. Aeolus’ whole thing is ‘do my lil task and u win!’ ‘What’s the catch’ ‘hahaha wouldn’t you like to know’ like Scar does that shit all the time. He rides on a cloud because he can’t walk and the cloud changes shape to accommodate him (After the time skip he just suddenly doesn’t have a shirt btw)
Poseidon - Scott - he’s dramatic, he’s queer, he’s petty, he’s been in a rivalry on life series with Joel since Last life, and in a world where both Scott and Xornoth (being brothers in lore) are evil, Scott, being loyal to his associates, would show up to defend him
Circe - Sausage - he ran a sanctuary for magical creatures and these people were attacked so he protected them. Also he owns a strip club so he would seduce people to lure them in before brutally murdering them like a gentleman
Hermes - Oli - based on vibes tbh, but also on that one time when Joel played MCC Ender Cup at Oli’s and when they were losing Oli would hype him up by making up a song on the spot (M C C DO YOU KNOW THE WORDS!?)
Odysseus’ mom - Donkey Jeremy - for the memes, also Joel going to the underworld and finding that his donkey god is dead is brutal when you realize how long he has kept this bit up
Tireseas - Martyn - the lore man himself showing up only to lore drop on the main character and not help at all is such a Martyn move, the voices in the background are listeners dropping even more lore and all of them are giving pretty straight answers compared to Martyn only speaking in double meanings
Siren!Penelope - The Virgin Jeremy - if you don’t know who that is, when Jeremyism was created, Lizzie was brought into the cult religion as ‘the virgin Jeremy’ it looks close enough to Lizzie to be passable from afar but the outfit is all wrong
Odysseus’ ‘daughter’ - that kid Joel had with Jimmy during the Empires x HC crossover - technically his kid, but he gave it away as a Christmas gift so does it really count?
Scylla - Pearl - Scylla is a beast with 6 wolves heads for feet, 5am Pearl from Double Life is remarkably similar to Wolf Joel from 3rd life and Wizard Joel from Last Life, ‘we know that we are the same’ also she is just fucking crazy and deranged and we love her
Antinous - The Secret Keeper - Used as the leader of Watchers in this scenario. Watchers are known to be evil (or at the very least, very morally ambiguous) in lore
Calypso - Iskall fits so well but I don’t like himmmmmm give me better ideas please
Apollo - i dunno tbh, literally no ideas here. I would like ideas thanks.
Hephaestus - Doc - our machine boy, loyal to the bone so ofc he would have a problem with Joel being a traitor but not enough to fight his point because he has things to do
Aphrodite - Skizz - he’s sweet, and loyal, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, but in the musical she focuses on familial love, which Skizz does very well. He’s not on Joel’s side at all because Joel kills Skizz a lot
Ares - False - a good fighter, would love to watch the bloodshed unfold also a fight scene with a Gem and False would look so sick
Hera - Cleo - the 80’s outfit matches Hera’s music, respects a man who doesn’t cheat on his wife, (LOOKING AT YOU ETHO)
Eurymachus - Watcher (partial sight*) - Eurymachus is the one that tries to open arms Odysseus, the partial sight bit will be explained after character list.
Melanthius - Watcher (unseeing**) - Melanthius is the man singing when Telemachus arrives and he is the one making orders and says he will ‘break the kids hands’, unseeeing will be explained after character list.
Watcher lore:
The Secret Keeper is being used as the leader of the watchers, not needing wings to hide the eyes and instead wears a heavy mask with the watcher logo on it.
Watchers usually have two pairs of wings, a small pair where the ears would be cover the watchers eyes, the other pair on their back.
When a Watcher is starting to break away from the normal mentality the face wings begin to pull away from their eyes, Grian his his wings fully unfolded.
*partial sight means the inner half of the eyes are not hidden, meaning the watcher can now see the light/make better decisions
**unseeing means the wings are more tighly folded over the eyes that one is fully under the other like a blindfold, normally watchers can at least see the very smallest difference between being in a dark room and a light one, Unseeing Watchers can not.

Details About The Monster Odysseus AU
I might be the only one yelling at the void, but I want to brainstorm about the EPIC musical AU I thought of in more detail:
In terms of how it starts, at first, I thought of the obvious answer being Poseidon curses Odysseus in rage to become a "monster" but then my brain thought of: What if it were Zeus? Not only it would fit the bill of things a Greek god could do (which I think any of them could since Athena turned a human into the first spider), but it would come full circle from "The Horse and The Infant"/"Just A Man". Could you imagine Zeus seeing this mortal having this moral dilemma of "when does a man become a monster" and he's like: "Guys, guys, I have this perfect idea for a joke" only for the odyssey to happen with the monsters and gods influencing Ody's monster form? But I'll put a poll:
Now to the monster features. I went through the people and monsters that Odysseus has faced significantly. I did not include the sirens and such because they were obstacles and such. However, I ended up adding one more person since it would be symbolic to have 9 people = 9 Sagas. So in order:
Polyphemus: Not much is taken from the Cyclops. You can argue that the Cyclops for a time is a chosen monster from the Circe Saga, but for this AU, Odysseus adopted his brutality and sometimes when he acts like Polyphemus, Odysseus closes one of his eyes.
Aeolus: Perhaps wind/storm powers. Mostly he could attract/summon Winions. Symbolically, he struggles with trust now.
Poseidon: Ruthlessness, obviously, and Odysseus ends up becoming a sea creature themed hybrid with scales and such.
Circe: Odysseus can act like a siren/seduce. He also has slight puppeteering powers.
Hermes: Whether he likes it or not, Odysseus adopted Hermes's laughter/vibe. Also big motivator
Tiresias: It does not happen often but Odysseus gets visions or foresight. Maybe attuned with the Dead.
Scylla: Sizeshifting and all things monster! Tentacles, hydra heads, sharp teeth, the works.
Zeus: Odysseus has scars after being struck by Zeus's lightning. Plus he plays around with ethics.
Calypso: At first, I wanted to skip Calypso entirely. I didn't know what to do with her and whether or not Odysseus could take away something. I guess for now, just the sense of being trapped for a long time and he learned persistence.
So you might think, hey wouldn't this make the King of Ithaca OP more than he normally is in the musical? Yes but also to counter it, I want the powers/features to be tied to his emotions/trauma.
And that's what I have so far!

Hiii! I wrote a thing. After like a week. I hadn't written in so long it wasn't okay anymore. Im sorry if anyone was waiting for the next bit of the story about the Gods im writing i have not made any progress because the show i was in was brilliant but now i am dead✨
Anyways yah. I wrote a thing. About Eurylochus and Polites and that one cut song that gets me every time.
"Eury?"
Eurylochus really doesn't want to talk to Polites right now. He loves the guy, he really does, but he just doesn't want to talk to anyone.
"Hey, Albatross, you hiding?" Polites does find him, as Eurylochus expects him to. The old nickname puts a little smile on his face, though.
"No." Eurylochus answers. Whilst sat in a shadowy corner behind several crates in the bottom of the ship. Noooo- He would never be hiding! What does he have to hide from?
Polites looks down at him from where he's leaning over the nearest crate, "Ok, well, all the rocking of the ship really isn't good for my legs you know, specially with all those injuries I got from the cyclops-" Eurylochus thinks he looks perfectly fine, "-so would you let me sit beside you?"
(He still remembers the utter terror when the club hit Polites, when the cave fell silent and he saw the person who means the most to him in this life and the next lying broken and battered in a growing pool of blood, reaching out for him, rasping out a pained "Eury-" before the club came down again, barely missing him, barely-)
He pulls himself out of his thoughts.
Eurylochus really should call his partner out on his lie, but he's always been bad at saying no to Polites, and company right now wouldn't be all bad, he guesses. Polites doesn't wait for him to answer, instead sitting down next to Eurylochus and placing his staff at his side, that small half smile-half frown that he does on his face.
"Why are you here?" Eurylochus asks eventually, "Why do you care so much?"
Polites blinks, still doing that funny expression and not quite looking at Eurylochus, "Because I love you, Albatross, and you aren't gonna believe this, but what just happened wasn't your fault. Neither was the cyclops, or Aeolus' game."
"Yes it was." Eurylochus offers a little grin and a broken laugh, "It's all my-"
Polites just rolls his eyes, "Shut up, idiot." He says it fondly, turning to look at Eurylochus, "What happened in that cave was the Lotus-eaters fault and the cyclops' fault-"
"Yes but I let you and Odysseus go to that island alone, not knowing what that island could hold-" Eurylochus scrambles for an argument, "You got hurt."
"But I'm ok." Polites doesn't seem to quite grasp how much he really does mean to the crew, to Eurylochus, and it is always most obvious at times like this.
"I thought you were dead." Eurylochus hisses, "I can't- you can't- I wouldn't have known what to do if you were dead."
"Keep on living." Polites smiles that crooked smile of his.
Eurylochus frowns at him, "You say that like it's easy, Songbird, like I could just brush you off like dust on my shoulders and move on. You-"
"Well I didn't die."
"But you could have died to- to Posidon! Or the winions-"
"You really think-" Polites laughs, "That the winions would have killed me?"
"They were an unknown factor!" Eurylochus protests, "They could have been dangerous, we all know Aeolus was!"
"Aeolus wasn't your fault either." Polites continues on, "You warned the captain against going to speak to them, you told him the gods are dangerous, and he didn't listen. Gods, he really should have."
Eurylochus watches the way he starts to shake slightly, his dark eyes turned down and his voice cracking.
And well, it goes like this: they'd all seen how Odysseus had reacted to Posidon killing their crew- their king, their captain, had fallen apart, yelling and cursing the gods and all their parents, tears on his face.
Eurylochus and Polites… They'd- they'd held themselves together for the crew, they'd smiled and comforted the crew in the days after, while their king hid away in his room.
But they'd suffered just as much as Odysseus, if not more so, they were just both better at acting than their friend, in a way where they had no reason to act but did it anyway, slowly crafting armour around themselves with their words and eyes and actions, armour that only a select few were allowed to see beneath. People expected Odysseus to be the one lying and hiding behind masks, not them.
Whilst Odysseus had been the captain, he had a duty to protect the crew, but they were still just his subjects, servants and people under his rule. Eurylochus and Polites knew each of them, their worries and fears and nightmares and how to make them laugh and smile, they knew each family member that would never see them again. That was their job, to know the crew. So it hurt so much more, for they lost friends, family, and Odysseus only lost nameless faces and subjects.
And this was why they had their armour. They'd both lost everything when they were young, and then they'd found each other. When you live a life of uncertainty, one where your fortune can change as easily as the wind, with only one constant, you learn to keep your armour on, you learn to protect the thing close to you and your heart.
It still haunts them, the screams and the nightmares and the fears of too many men that aren't them, and the families of men who are dead, unknowingly waiting in Ithaca.
Eurylochus just sighs, pulling Polites into a tight hug, "We just gotta keep everyone else alive, that's all."
Polites laughs slightly, "Yeah. No pressure. Then we can go home."
"What was that song you always used to sing?" Eurylochus asks after a moment.
"Hmm?" Polites lifts his head off of his shoulder, looking up at Eurylochus, "This life is amazing..?"
"No the other one," Eurylochus can't quite remember how it went, "From before we met Odysseus and Elpenor and Perimedes. That one."
Polites smiles, "I remember." He pauses, "Gods, I was so happy to have a friend to run through the streets and climb the trees with back then."
"When it was just as simple as when our next meal would be and where we should wait out the rain and who we should avoid." Eurylochus laughs slightly, "I do rather miss causing problems in the market square with you, Songbird."
Polites joins in his laughter at that, "We only got worse when we met Perimedes and Elpenor, and then only a few years later the four of us met Ctimene and Odysseus and then it was even more simple and suddenly so complicated at the same time."
"Do you ever regret befriending Odysseus and Ctimene?" Eurylochus asks quietly.
Polites lets out a little humming noise, "I feel like." He pauses, choosing his words carefully, "Our lives would be a whole lot more easy, you know? But also what would we have ended up doing if we lived out our lives on the streets of Ithaca?"
"We wouldn't have the level of control over our lives that we have now." Eurylochus says. He's always needed that- that- level of control, as he phrased it, over the situation he is in. He panics otherwise, he hates being unable to keep the people around him safe, to not put his own opinions into a discussion.
It's why he hated the war, hated the kings all sat above them in their gold and jewels and fancy armour that didn't have a single scratch or dent, playing with their lives like pieces on a board, why he hated the whole situation with the cyclops, something bigger and stronger and more dangerous than him was hurting his friends, almost killed his partner, and Eurylochus couldn't do a damn thing about it.
It's why he hates how Odysseus plays with forces bigger than him, gods, monsters, wars. It's why he keeps getting angry at Odysseus, Odysseus who keeps putting everyone in danger, once again playing with them like toys, except this time they don't have the protection of a huge army around them, this time they're not facing simple men that they can fight, this time Odysseus is pitting them against monsters, and blaming everyone else when it goes wrong.
"Oh, I know the world’s not always pretty, and there's days that seem to last for way too long." Polites' voice breaks him out of his thoughts, quiet and full of emotions as he sings the lines of that old childhood song, "Oh, I know the world can get real lonely, and there are times you feel too hopeless to go on."
He smiles at Eurylochus again, and he can see that wild little kid that he befriended all those years ago, with the too-big glasses and uncut hair, grinning through the scars and sorrows of war and adult life.
"But hey there Eury, don’t you know, look deep inside and there you go! Hanging in your heart I’m always there!" Polites laughs slightly at the lyrics five year old him made up.
Eurylochus' smile widens, "And hey there 'Tes, can’t you see: no matter what, you still have me! So when you need a friend, or when you’re scared, just let me be your light!" He remembers that part at least, the memories are easier to dig up now that Polites has started singing.
"Let me be the stars you see at night," Polites waves a hand absentmindedly up at the ceiling of the room they're in, "Let me be the arms that hold you tight! When life gets hard or when you're lost in the dark let me be your light!"
Eurylochus laughs properly at Polites' vague gesture at the wooden planks above them, "Let me be your light." He echoes, ruffling the other's hair.
Polites yelps at the action, ducking out from under Eurylochus' arm and grabbing his hand in both of his, a bright smile on his face, "Do you remember when we would run through the market, looking for the best people to mess with?"
Eurylochus meets his gaze, "Oh, I remember the thrill and the fun!" He laughs. Maybe, just maybe, in this dark, hidden corner of the ship, they can just be Eurylochus and Polites, the kids who have no responsibilities holding them down, rather than Eurylochus and Polites, the king of Ithaca's best friends and second and third in command of the Ithacan army.
"Past me was smart." Polites grins.
Eurylochus pulls him back into a tight, playful hug, "Are we thinking about the same boy?" He asks, "The boy i fell in love with was rather clumsy and full of bad ideas, if I remember correctly! And he still is."
"Hey!" Polites is still laughing though, wriggling in Eurylochus' hold, "You can't say much, and I meant the song!"
Eurylochus is laughing too when they end up on the floor, "You were good at emotions." He concedes.
"And i was right!" Polites decides not to sit up, and instead stays lying on top of Eurylochus, "Don’t forget that even when the sun has set, hanging in your heart, I’m always there! And hey there Eury-" he taps Eurylochus' chest when he says 'heart', which Eurylochus thinks is absolutely adorable. If anyone ever says Polites is not just the sweetest, they can fight him.
Eurylochus joins in with the song, he's not the best at singing, but he always has enjoyed singing with Polites.
"Can’t you see no matter what, it’s you and me! So when you need a hand or when you’re scared, just let me be your light!"
They sing that line together before they both realise how this would probably look if one of the crew found them now, and they sit up. Eurylochus doesn't hesitate to ruffle Polites' hair again, earning him another affronted yelp.
"Let me be the stars you see at night." Eurylochus grins when he helps Polites to his feet, the other grabbing his staff.
"Let me be the arms that hold you tight!" Polites laughs, his dark eyes bright.
"When life gets hard or when you’re lost in the dark, let me be your light!" Their voices don't go all that well together either, but Eurylochus doesn't think either of them could care less about that, he certainly doesn't.
Maybe he's a little bit more ready to face the world. To face Odysseus and his twisting, manipulating words, to face whatever gods and monsters are thrown his way.
Eurylochus wears a smile when he steps out into the sunlight on the deck of the ship with Polites, and his eyes catch on a lush-looking, green island ahead of them, the first land they've seen since they saw Ithaca on the horison just before Eurylochus opened the bag after the persuasion and pressure from the crew and the voices in the wind.
Bring it on, he thinks, a grin on his face. Eurylochus has his little makeshift family, and what remains of the crew he needs to protect, and his sword, and Polites at his side. They're gonna be okay.
They're gonna be okay.
It's what he repeats when he steps onto the island and sees, really sees, how off it is, how bright the flowers are and how tame the animals seem to be.
We're gonna be okay.
It's what he chants in his head when he sees the palace in the little valley, when he watches the witch turns half their crew into pigs.
We have to be okay.
Hello again! If your still here! And yes i promise the nicknames have reasoning other than i have a condition where any character i ever like gets a nickname related to either birds or flowers! Dump of random epic stuff!
I’m making this because when I make individual posts of things like this they get like no notes. So! I put them together in hopes that it’ll get more attention!
First order of business, my new story board for wouldn’t you like, and some finished designs I haven’t posted yet! I’m aware the story boards are messy and might be hard to read, so just do your best!

On a relevant note, I still need some help figuring out how to draw a raft so I can do my storyboard for Dangerous! (And the rest of the vengeance saga, for that matter)
Next up, the fics in the works! I know I’ve said that I have a lot of drafts, but I’ve yet to say what they are! So here’s a list! (Title included if I’ve come up with one already)
-The Ruthless King: Ler!Ody, Telemachus, (edit: the suitors have some ler too, forgot to mention that) Lee!Suitors, Telemachus.- Odysseus alternate ending/more wholesome version!
- Switches Hermes and Aeolus- the two decide to have a tickle fight!
-Lee!Hermes, Ler Winions ft. Aeolus- during a hangout, the Winions decide some mischief is in order.
-Be Quiet!: Ler!Athena, Ares, Lee!Apollo- The war gods get irritated when Apollo plays his music to loud.
-Hey there, Handsome: Ler!Calypso, Lee!Ody- Calypso’s had enough of the silent treatment.
-Little Wolf: Ler!Antinous, Suitors, Lee!Telemachus- the suitors are bored, and mess with Telemachus.
-Nice try: Ler!Athena, Lee!Hermes- Hermes tries to Tickle Athena and she quickly turns the tables.
-Ler!Athena, Lee!Telemachus- Telemachus tries to start a tickle fight with his mentor and it ends up backfiring.
-Ler!Athena, Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Lee!Hermes- Hermes asks for tickles after pulling a prank, and his siblings don’t agree.
- Too Serious: Ler!Aphrodite(might add more or change it), Lee!Athena- Aphrodite thinks Athena is too serious for her own good.
-Brotherly Teasing: Switches Zeus and Poseidon- the two are teasing each-other and settle it with a tickle fight
-Wondering: Ler!Penelope, Lee!Telemachus- Telemachus is wondering about his dad.
-Future son: Ler!Ody, Lee!Penelope- Penelope is 7 months pregnant with Telemachus.
-Ler!Artemis, Lee!Apollo: Apollo messes with Artemis.
-Ler!Hermes, Lee!Ody, crew- Hermes tickles everyone but Odysseus.
-Good Ol’ Times: Ler!Young Ody, Young Polites, Lee!Young Eury- the three reminisce on the first time they found out Eurylochus was ticklish
-Boo, Darling!: Ler!Apollo, Lee!Hermes-Hermes mocks Apollo.
And that’s all of them! In no particular order. (Told you it was a lot. All in various levels of progress.)
Next up: Chapter two of No More Suffering has been posted! Thought I’d inform ya’ll since it got like a singular note. You can find it by going through my masterpost, going to the part two of said masterpost, and then to the master post of No More Suffering: where you’ll find any updates to the fic whenever they’re made!
Also, just so ya’ll know! All my Tword fics are a spin off/take place in the above au! So no one has died in any of my tword fics! (I don’t like writing sad OKAY?!)
Next: PLEASE REBLOG MY STUFF IF YOU LIKE IT! This isn’t just for epic, but my fics usually get a bunch of likes and like no reblogs, which means 1- less people see it, and 2- I get a little de-motivated. So please reblog!! :3
Lastly! now that I have my own personal IPad, I might make tword art! But I’m a little nervous abt it, so it might take a minute and some requests to get me going.
Thanks for reading!

🎄 Epic The Musical Secret Santa 🎄
Dear @salty-lemonss,
I’ve been chosen to be your Epic The Musical Secret Santa! Although I don't know what you like exactly in your gift, I hope you’ll still enjoy this short story. I wish you an awesome holiday!
Take care and Merry Christmas,
Your Secret Santa - The Pen
You can’t return what the wind gave
The howls of rising winds distorted Odysseus’ guttural scream as it echoed from one end of the ship, but his cry of despair could not undo what had been done.
“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!”
“Never really know who you can trust.”
“Never really know who you can trust.”
The sailors that surrounded the opened bag just now were knocked back like ragdolls, their eyes widened in shock as a violent swirl of dark clouds erupted from the container like an unstoppable force unleashed upon the sea and cast a grim shadow over the vessel with a crack of thunder. A storm had coalesced.
“Full speed ahead!”
Amidst the yelling thrown back and forth among the sailors rose the jiggles of laughter as if the horror and huddle entertained them. Little creatures of soft, gray fur swarmed the ship like the blown-away fluffs of a dandelion, dancing merrily in circles and carrying flows of cold, salty mist with them. The winions had come to witness the satirical comedy of men’s greed.
“Let’s see how you escape!”
Their sing-laughs filled the air as they dove between the masts. One sailor yelped as a winion tugged at his hair, loosening his headband and causing it to fall off and obscure his eyes, almost leading him to tumble off the deck. Another angrily flailed at the wind creatures when they darted around him, only for them to snatch the rope he was holding, swiftly knot its length into a snake-like bundle, and toss the tangled mess back at him like a sick joke.
Despite all their effort to adjust the ship’s direction, it seemed to be pushed further and further away from the homeland island, and the crew could only watch it drift out of reach. Odysseus was still straining his throat trying to instruct his men to pull the sail, but he couldn’t focus on the task when another flurry of winions dashed around their next chosen target. Enraged at their meddling, the Ithacan king snapped to the side and grabbed one of them as it sped by, yet his hands only enclosed a thin wisp of vapor as the winion dissipated as soon as he blinked.
The winions gathered in a larger swarm amongst the sky to jeer on the battered crew and the captain who had made a fool of himself. A drenched Odysseus glared up at the wind creatures with clenching fists, only to release them in pure shock to see a familiar emergence between the fluffy hoard.
Adorned in a single-shouldered jumpsuit with glowing turquoise outlines that stood out among the roaring darkness of the stormy wind, jovial Aeolus sat as an amused spectator enjoying the tribulation show below with their characteristic smirk.
Odysseus scrambled to the side of his ship, almost begging the deity, “Where’s the storm taking us?”
“I said to keep the bag closed, but you weren’t compliant,” Aeolus cackled. They put a finger on their cheek and bobbled their head left and right, “If I had to guess?”
The playfulness soon morphed into a menacing grin with bared teeth as the master of winds and their winions launched forward with their hands pushing onto the deck and declared at the constricting eyes of the rain-soaked mortal man, “You're heading to the Land of the Giants!”
Upon their final words like a taunting bid of farewell, the divinities vanished as abruptly as they came, leaving the fleet of twelve ships at the mercy of the crashing waves with no sign of quelling.
