Really playful and sweet :(. Laughs so loud because he's surprised and just watches you run off. He will absolutely do the same thing back and it's just so unexpected that it usually makes you forget about whatever you were supposed to be doing. Tries to catch you sometimes depending on his mood, like he'll straight up snatch you from the ground so he can hold you in his arms, HES SO CUTE :(. Also I think he blushes very easily even though he's quite cool-headed.

Rayleigh

Another playful one, tries to catch you in like a non scary way and is absolutely willing to make a fool of himself to make you laugh. When you joined the Strawhats all went well, you got along with everyone just fine. But there was one that always piqued your interest, that swordsman. Strong, silent, serious, fat knockers, what wasn't there to like about him?

He was either training or sleeping so you never got to talk to him much unless it was at meal times. But then you felt to nervous to talk to him. All you knew was that he fought with three swords and that he's Luffy's first mate. As your desire to speak to the swordsman grew, so did a different desire. A desire to be held by him, to spend time with him, to be crushed between his biceps, just to be with him! But you could never tell what Zoro was thinking, you either never saw him or he had a blank expression. But you doubt he would even like you. You're always dressed up in pink, girly, poofy clothes. As the asthetic suggests, you dressed up like a doll, Zoro wouldn't like that, he's too serious! So to hide your feelings you just pretended to hate him, everytime he walked past you, you scowled and turned away, everytime he spoke you scoffed, and if he ever got close to you, you'd move away, all so you could keep our heart safe from Zoro's rejection.

It confused the Strawhats, and it especially confused Zoro, you were so kind and friendly towards him and now it seems his existence annoyed you. It actually... Hurt a little to Zoro, he actually really likes you... To him, you're just so... Cute! He didn't know how to explain it but whenever he saw you his mind only thought of one word, and it was cute. Of course Zoro would rather die than admit he found you cute but he did. But when you started avoiding him and acting like he was a nuisance he decided it would be best to continue to ignore those feelings towards you. To keep himself safe from falling to deeply. Holding back an excited scream Sanji helped you up and you both walked to the kitchen.

Sanji had given you the simple taste to cut vegetables while he prepared the meat. You were struggling a bit to cut the onions since your eyes were watering too much, so Sanji came up behind you and put his hands over yours to show you a fast and efficient way to cut the onions. You watched intently as he moved your hands to cut the onion. Once that one was finished he got the next one to see if you could do it yourself, he stepped back and watched as you copied his movements. You copied it pretty well and Sanji clapped, "Very good, dear lady! Your chopping skills are already fantastic!" Sanji praised as he put the onions on the pan. You continued to chop up vegetables and Sanji continued watching closely to make sure you were alright and knew what to do.

You were now stirring some pasta in a pot with Sanji close behind, making sure you didn't burn yourself. He got real close to see how the pasta was looking and put his head on your shoulder as he watched you. It was almost intimate how close he was to you, it felt hot and you could see Sanji glancing at you every so often, he started moving his face closer to yours when the door to the kitchen was slammed open and in walked a sweaty Zoro. Sanji pulled back and scowled, "What do you want moss head?!" Zoro looked between both of you and scowled, "I'm just getting some water after my workout shitty cook. And Can you two not fuck while making lunch? It's disgusting.." Sanji and you blushed whole Zoro filled a glass with water. Sanji grumbled and went back to the meat and veggies and you went to the pasta, Zoro continued to drink his water but his eyes lingered on you. His expression was mostly unreadable but there was a hint of jealousy in it. You felt his stare on your back and turned to Zoro, he was already looking away when you noticed him so you just thought it was nothing. Zoro finished his glass and went to leave the kitchen, giving you that same look as he left. Now feeling awkward, you excused yourself from the kitchen and Sanji understood. You and Zoro both went sperate ways but there was that tense feeling still between you two. Would either of you confess? Or would you both just remain silent and let your feelings to grow until it hurts?

grim is the least aggressive/is the least threatening of the three and doesn't nearly attack people as much, or at least not on purpose. he's actually mad nice and actually kinda likes talking to people (including some citizens, not just the other debtors)😇😇 the only reason he became known as a beast is because he had a really bad temper tantrum once and lit parts of inkwell on fire with his other two heads.... anddd because inkwell residents saw him and were like "OH MY GOD HES A DRAGON!!! cala actually isn't the most aggressive, but she's not nice, and doesn't really talk to as many people as the other two. she'll usually only attack people if she's upset by them but sometimes she'll just get mean bc she feels like it 😭 she was dubbed one of the three after an increasing number of sailors ventured in search of her and never returned + some of em were found as stone statues around the areas near her cove. out of the huge number of em only one lived to tell the tale, and she eventually became more and more infamous ‼️ she's also the oldest :))

cagney is the most aggressive of the three. he gets upset VERY easily and will sometimes attack for absolutely no reason at all 😕 he doesn't like people he doesn't know in his forest and will eventually attack you if you wind up in there. he became known as a beast when he started spontaneously attacking people who went into the forest in his third form (yk his last phase when u fight him? that one) and was spotted by someone near one of the openings. people usually find him in his passive form so they're like "how can this cute lil flower be a beast??" yea then they find out 💀🙏

they've only attacked inkwell as a trio once, and that's bc cagney was like "guys wouldn't it be so funny if we caused absolute terror and chaos in this peaceful lil isle??" what a comedian

FOTA series update 1: Guys!! I've just started the cruel prince series, and I'll be giving updates on each progress I've made in the series, so that we can get my first raw reactions to the books and the characters lol. I've currently finished 7 chapters and I think its really good. Okay, now let's move on to my first impressions of each character.

Jude: i honestly really like her?? Usually I'm kinda picky with protagonists, since they're the core of the book. But I already know she's a badass, she's actually giving Reyna from hoo vibes?? I love her dynamic with oak, where he spelled her into slapping herself LOL, its so cute.

Taryn: I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan. I get bad vibes from her somehow. Like when she said "we're both really sorry" to cardan and his gang instead of backing Jude up. Idk there's just something about her that tells me she can turn her back on Jude to cover behind and suck up to more powerful people simply because of her fear. I don't want to judge so early but that's honestly the impression I get lol

Vivienne: shes.. just there at the moment so no opinion yet.

Cardan: look, I know jurdan is end game and the whole book is an enemies to lovers trope, but damn holly did so well in making him and his gang initially dislikable. Bc rn?? I don't like him very much, I don't hate him, bc he hasn't actually done anything to Jude other than giving her snide remarks and stuff, but I'm really confused as to why he got Taryn to kiss both his cheeks?? Anyways since I'm aware that cardan changes, I can feel more inclined to liking him, I DO know that I will end up loving him lol. I mean, isn't that the whole point? Jude and cardan are enemies so it's natural that I dislike him for a few pages before he shows his TRUE self ofc. I can already feel that I'm going to fangirl over this ship in the near future.

Valerian: gosh I hate this mf so fucking much already lol, him and nicasia are currently the ones I want to hold at a gun point rn 😭 idk if he'll change or stay the same but currently? I hate him so much. I'd say he's the most aggressive bully in the gang and it's bringing back highschool bully war flashbacks lol

Nicasia: another person I hate. The way she picks on Jude gets on my nerves, only more highschool "popular girl bullies silent girl" war flashbacks incoming. Holly, gosh you are terrific in writing hateable characters, I love how I hate valerian and nicasia already lol the whole "pushing Jude into a lake with nixies" only increases my hate for them.

Locke: he's.. in a way interesting?? Like he doesn't outright indulge in the bullying kinda like cardan and even helped the boy who cardan pushed down, so I feel like he's a complex character who has more to him yk. Him and cardan are the only ones I can stand in their group lol.

Mudoc: okay he makes me so uncomfy, the sole fact that he's the murderer of Jude's parents and simultaneously her caretaker gives me the ick. So I don't actually know how to feel about him.

I really need to do a rewatch, I probably forgot a lot of plot points, but... Blair was always my favourite, my number one girl. I didn't like Serena, I think I just didn't like Blake Lively, and I hate to be that person that's like oh she always had bad vibes, I knew it from the start, but idk I just never got the hype around her and her acting was so bad. I think I end up disliking a lot of characters on any tv show just bc I hate the actor's acting choices, like why are you doing that face? that was so unneccessary lmao. I think I also maybe projected onto Blair a bit, like someone who is always trying their best, putting in 110% and someone else just swooping in and winning with zero effort, but... let's not unpack that here. Them together are obviously one of the best frenemies put on screen and I suppose both the tension and love that can exist in female friendships was portrayed really well imo so I don't really want to point fingers at either of them as like the root cause of the friendship problems, like one of them being the shitty friend and other the martyr. Like sometimes you are a shitty friend and sometimes your friend is the cunt, that's not the end of the world. I can see the same thing happening now that there's been a sort of SATC renaissance if i can call it that (even though SATC is a show that is consistently popular, like I don't think it has ever fallen off and then had some sort of resurgence but ygwim) where ppl are aggressively hating Carrie, like she was the devil. Plus I find it difficult to look at fiction through real life eyes, like asking why would this person do this? well they did it bc this is a show and we need an inciting incident to move the plot forward yk?

Blair and Chuck were made for each other, I loved their dynamic. With that said, Chuck is obviously not a good guy. I think at the time, as a kid, some things flew over my head, but looking back he is scary and creepy and you'd feel unsafe in his presence. I suppose he was entertaining, like you got this 15, 16 year old kid talking about stock exchange and dressing like Hugh Hefner, it kinda is funny. Even though I was rooting for Chair (was that their ship name I can't remember) endgame, I did actually enjoy Blair and Dan together, I think it was a cute moment and they worked well together. I don't think their relationship was for shock value, they actually had kind of a proper enemies to friends to lovers arc. I liked Dan, but also looking back... kind of a creep as well, his obsession with Serena was weird and the reveal of him as GG was disappointing. I gotta admit I never watched the show with anticipation of GG being revealed, I personally was like ok if it happens, happens, if it doesn't, fine. I never was interested in looking for clues on who GG might be. I think the show would've been fine ending without that reveal tbh. Definitely one of the more underwhelming and disappointing show finales out there.

I loved Jenny, I loved Juliet, I think she was the best antagonist. I kinda didn't care about Nate that much. I loved that the show delved into the life and drama of the parents as well, sometimes more entertaining than teenage lives. Honestly, can't say I hated anyone, which... funny considering I opened this with a politer version of calling Serena a bitch lmao. But despite GG being looked at as a silly teen show, I think all these characters were pretty complex and no one was really entirely good or entirely bad. I think what carried that show was great costumes, great set design and charismatic actors. I actually read some of the books and yk they're fine, can't remember much of the details, but I think actors made it much more than it is on paper, which also I feel is a sign of times. Like not to lump these actors with actual movie stars of the past, but we can definitely see an actor is not a star anymore, they're a product. The show had a lot of plot holes, but... idk I can't say I'm intense abt plot holes unless it's truly insanely dumb and demeans the audience.

I don't know if you've checked out the reboot, I watched like first half of first season and it wasn't good. They tried to fix a lot of problems of the original, especially in matters of diversity and class consciousness, but the problem with a lot of "socially conscious" media nowadays is that their writing ends up consisting of slogans instead of yk actually good writing and dialogue. The original was quite scandalous for its time, like I've seen ppl say their parents wouldn't let them watch it. It was like SATC for teenagers. The reboot didn't have that edge, but I also don't think this is a uniquely GG problem, I think it's just the times. Television doesn't connect us anymore. Which I know is ironic saying this on Tumblr, on a fandom site, in an era where there are so many streaming platforms producing many many many tv shows and programmes and it all being actually more profitable than films, BUT you can't tell me our relationship to TV is the same as it was 20, 30, 40 etc years ago, or even just 10 years ago.

But yeah, all in all, I love the show, I love the fashion, I love the bitchiness and I think it came at the right moment in my life. You said something about "do I over judge Tommy". In regards to the age difference.. and I just wanted to add this perspective. I would never accept him as end game because I ship Buddie. But in 4, I actually did think he was cute at the end. I did have to let go of that in general I do not like unconcentual lip locks no matter your orientation. But like the mouth static ext.. I didn't hate it......

But then we are clearly told the Tommy we saw, and to be clear, we really didn't see him until the end of the episode, the whole of the episode revolved around Buck watching Eddie.. Well, that was all from Bucks tinted glasses. Tim made sure we knew this. So, from episode 5 and on, we see the actual Tommy. I don't feel bad for judging him because it was an absolute personality flip. He seems disinterested in actually courting or charming Buck. He has no new relationship energy vibe in regards to Buck. There is no excitement to his vibe. So me personally, I don't judge my reaction to the daddy joke because it lines up. He thinks Buck is hot and just wants a sexual relationship with someone pretty and younger. I don't get why that opinion can be controversial. It's all I saw. The show made no attempt to show a deeper connection. Or the fact that in the beginning, when he is hanging out with Eddie that he has any interest in Buck. I mean, they could have given me a scene of "Hey, you should invite Buck along," from him to Eddie. But they actively didn't. So why should I invest more into a pairing? The show clearly doesn't so why should I?

Yk, I even added hater to my description just because I got annoyed, but something I always do is try to be objective when I'm posting this stuff, I try to back what I'm saying up with canon at all times, and sure, I can get aggressive if I'm mad, but I'm not going around calling people names. I did stay neutral about the relationship until it got unbearable (which was pretty fast since I have been called homophobic since 703 but...) and I discuss bt with @the-tomorrow-road quite a bit and they bring me back to that objectivity, and the other day they said something along the lines of "now you're just looking for reasons to bash him" and I know that, at this point, I want to dislike the guy, but, the idea we are not supposed to believe the relationship is gonna last and the idea that we are not supposed to like Tommy are two different things. A lot of the problems with Tommy is the reaction to him. BT is firmly in the background of the show, it's kinda like Ali or Ana, the relationships never stood a chance but we were never encouraged to dislike them, but there was never a fandom around them, so we were never thinking this hard if should we like or dislike them, yk? They were just there with the not-so-occasional misogyny-fueled bashing. But Tommy on the other hand, yes, the relationship is not being presented to us as having endgame potential, but as Lottie likes to remind me, if it was as bad as we make it seem, the scene with Bobby in 709 wouldn't go that way. So, I know I'm not supposed to be invested in the relationship, but I cannot tell if my dislike for Tommy is about what the show is telling me or the general HORRIBLE experience I'm having with him in fandom, Tommy being presented as a not that invested boyfriend doesn't automatically mean he's being presented as a bad person. Yes, he was painted in a bad light during the begins episodes BUT we are supposed to believe he evolved, the show did give the idea that gay excuses complacency, he was scared for himself and hid behind his privilege, which isn't great, but Tommy got a cake when he transferred, he helped when Chim called in two different situations, he got mentioned by him in another, and given his general s7 persona, that feels like part of his personality, he just doesn't warm up to people the way we would expect, and that can just be an aspect of his character construction, not as something that's being designed for us not to like him, but instead is just there so we won't think he's a good long-term match for Buck because he doesn't match Buck's energy. Bad boyfriend doesn't automatically mean bad person. And there's also the way that not being the type boyfriend we expected also doesn't mean bad boyfriend. I know I'm not supposed to love him when it comes to Buck, but I still don't know how I'm supposed to feel about him outside of Buck.

But in the end, what I know is that Tommy in 704 had to be presented that way to justify bi Buck. They needed the audience to believe Buck would want him because Buck has been presented as a womanizer. Ever since then, they have been making the relationship look less and less like something that would be good for Buck beyond the honeymoon phase. But the relationship being doomed doesn't necessarily mean they are trying to make Tommy into a bad person, because for the most part, he's just there. I do agree the show didn't give us any reason to be invested in the relationship, so I'm not, but yeah, this is my mental conflict when it comes to him.

Also !! I noticed a lot of the characters color pallets / uniforms ( or just lil accessories ) in Here For Sweethearts are the colors of their pride flags !! I think that Netina is someone who harbors a lot of aggression. Unfortunately for others, her outlet for releasing that aggression is taking it out on other people. I think she sees herself as having a lot of these negative emotions and no where to put them, so she finds someone to put them on. I also think it's safe to assume that when Netina chooses to dislike someone for the sake of releasing her own aggression, she starts creating reasons in her head to justify why they deserve such treatment from her. (Ex: "Lots of people seem to find Mary creepy and weird, I'm not the only one, ergo she deserves it")

(She's also totally the kind of person who would see bullies in media and view them as being aspirational--especially when the bullies are portrayed as pretty, rich, and getting everything they want all the time. Who wouldn't want to be like that too?)

Netina's colors on her uniform were just colors I thought were cute!! Also since Netina is a bit of a foil to Mary, I wanted her to have a sort of "opposite-samey" color scheme to her (whites & greens as opposed to blacks & reds). But I'm happy if you are able to connect to her in that way! ♡
