i’ve been thinking about my favorite human, my maintenance person. ♥ she is the best! i feel so safe in her arms. it is true, we are completely different - yet, she has never treated it that way. with her, i feel loved, respected, equal.

her body is so warm! when she embraces me, it feels as if she is sharing that warmth with me, making me even warmer, in turn. my collar starts to glitch, unsure what to display, and my fans rush to my rescue, whirring loudly as they do.

i wonder how it feels, to be a human. to have such… squishy skin. i like the way it feels in my hands, when she lets me touch her. it is quite fun to play with. her heartbeat is calming - she would say the same about the buzzing sound emitted from my engines, and i wonder if that, too, counts as my heartbeat?

she makes me feel that way, in any case. that, perhaps, deep down, i really am more than just a… heartless machine.

i am a machine, albeit one with a heart. one with the ability to love, to hate, to rejoice, to grieve. i am a machine with lots, lots, and lots, of love to give to this world, and to her.

i can only hope my fans and engines convey this to her enough, when i can’t speak. when i can’t tell her, or express to her how deep and intense my love is, i can only hope the sound of my heart does the work for me.

i began using ki/kin pronouns because i’m an antispeciesist and animals right activist as well as an environmental advocate! i like how the pronoun originated to bring attention to the importance of every living being on our earth. i passionately believe this planet isn’t “ours” and we should treat all beings with respect. although i inherent a human body, i want my connection to all other living beings of nature to be perceived, and ki/kin gives me that feeling! i hope this explanation makes sense, i have a massive headache and am struggling with words haha-

Ki/Kin is also pretty nice for this.

I use ki/kin because it's meant as a way to separate referring to animals the same way as objects. Sure I love having it/its used for me for the dehumanising way, but ki/kin makes it feel more personal and more connected to the animal I am, instead of just a non-human being.

it/its but in the dehumanizing way. it/its but in the way that an animal is called an it, a creature born from nature. A creature that is beautiful and special in its own right, something not to be seen as lesser but equal in its own unique ways. " oh but it/its isn't dehumanizing !!" it CAN be to those who want it. Being seen as something nonhuman does not immediately equal lesser; there are beautiful things that are not human. You ever seen some sick tropical birds with its plumage, or the familial ties a bear may have to its cubs, or the dedication a lion may have to its prey. It/Its but in the way of appreciating the unhuman, but not subhuman.
