Amir Talai (Alastor): Tom Trench
Blake Roman (Angel): Egg Bois (and one of the mariachi imps in Striker’s Ballad)
Joel Perez (Valentino): Mariachi imps in Strikers Ballad (so… anyone wanting an Angel and Valentino song should just listen to that song 😂) and Dr Somna (Loona’s doctor) (thanks @xxqueenofdragonsxx for reminding me of these ones)
Alex Brightman: Fizz, Robo Fizz, Adam, Sir Pentious
Brandon Rogers (Blitz): Katie Killjoy, Loopty Goopty (the rich old man who hired IMP to kill his business partner), doctor in HB pilot, Crimson’s maid ( @warmrainplease )

Hi ! Just a note from your local poll maker : you have an 'other' option AND tags and I could only pick 9 items. Many people have played this role, I did my best.
Oh and please respect everyone's opinion. We're all allowed to have dubious taste. "Favorite" doesn't have to mean "Best".
The Phantom's poll is in my pinned post.

Hazbin Hotel Episode 1-4 Hot Takes! ~
They finally dropped. They are finally here, and I have A LOT to say. (Good & the bad, my opinions of course.)
Episode 1 was kinda boring and it just seemed overall weird and off. It didn't really pick back up that well, or align with the pilot too much, and the pilot slapped.
I feel like for those who haven't seen the pilot would be so confused with what is going on or who the characters even are. It feels like you also have to do a bit of digging to actually figure out other details.
I wasn't expecting to like Adam he was funny asf and I loved his singing. Love Alex Brightman he's great.
I can see what people are saying now when they were talking about the premise changing or being different, it definitely seems that way. It just feels like it's all over the place and there's multiple things happening at once. A bit confusing.
Charlie just looks weird to me I don't know why, I kinda like how she used to look.
Sir Pentious new voice is better. Again, love Alex Brightman. Lol.
Loser, Baby, Hell is forever, Poison, & Respectless are the best songs so far. Stayed Gone is ok too tho.
I'm interested in finding out why Lilith & Alastor were gone for like 7 years. I wonder where they went and it just makes me wonder if the war against heaven was possibly planned?? 🤔
I love Brandon Roger's but I didn't really like him as Katie Killjoy I think I liked the other VA. I just don't hear Katie, I hear Bryce Tankthrust.
I wish Vivzie designed Sir Pentious with more of a steampunk look since that's what era he's from so he's not wearing almost the same exact suit every other Overlord has.
Nifty is literally fucking iconic. I enjoyed her every time she was on screen even if it was for a short time. She's so funny.
I was expecting Vox & Valentino to have deeper voices but they still sounded great.
Velvette fucking ATE I was pleasantly surprised by her. I love her so much. She's my favorite of the VVV's and her singing is so good.
Charlie & Vaggie's fight wasn't that impactful, it kinda just came out of nowhere and seemed like something that should have happened way later. It didn't even seem like such a big deal either to be an argument.
I don't really like Vox as a person for letting Valentino treat Angel Dust the way he does. Just trash. He has to know about it.
Vox is just too obsessed with Alastor. He wants his cock soooo bad it's kinda crazy. It's the most fakest beef ever. Bad meat.
I like the new VA's they're amazing, but I do really miss the old ones. Most of them.
I think Vaggie's singing is better than Charlie's and that's fucked up because singing is like her whole thing.
Camilla killing the Angel wasn't that impactful because we don't really know who she is.
I don't really care to know how they will be trying to redeem people...idk I always thought that those parts would be boring.
So far I don't think the show was worth a 4 year wait....
Huskerdust WILL be canon at this rate. They might just be the best couple.
Charlie should have lit Valentino's ass up for treating Angel Dust the way he was. She shouldn't have listened to Angel and just fucked him up. Stop crying omfg!
I get that Husk & Angel are like in the same boat & all but....is being Alastor's minion really as bad as being constantly knocked around by Valentino?

Hazbin Hotel Live Blog: Overture
. While I am being kind to the show as it is, I cannot push out of my mind the fact that this is still Vivienne Medrano, and while this seems to be an interesting direction the series is considering to take the story, I am lacking any intrigue. Medrano has a knack for interesting ideas, but once executed are often trimmed down from all nuance and then played in the most straight forward and storybook fashion.
Evil existed before and separate from Lucifer
Eve is linked to the root of evil through the animation
Dichotomy of Lilith and Lucifer
Why does Heaven think Hell will rise up?
Charlie is reading the storybook to herself. Aloud. And the reason is because she’s like a child seeking comfort. Also Charlie’s delivery of “Pretty worked up” is just feeling off. Like isn’t this supposed to be a somber moment? Why is it delivered so chipper? The pilot had her crying and singing a lamentation. Downgrade.
Info dump dialogue
“This kingdom was something she really cared about.”
Vaggie’s voice is such a downgrade. She sounds so uninterested.
“Daddy issues by fixing you” So alastor knows about Charlie’s family situation already.
The lineart around Alastor is so distracting. It’s so bizarrely thick.
I wish there was no dialogue
Her dad calls her but she is supposed to have a strained relationship.
I feel like Medrano doesn’t know what Angel Dust is. As in the actual drug. PCP is not Cocaine.
That was the worst segue into a song I ever saw.
“If you dont mind the smell, it’s a happy day in hell.” I hate this line.
Vaggie just never sounds right, does she? Her singing is so nasal dominate it doesn’t sound like her throaty modal voice.
What was the contract? What did it say? Why even have Charlie sign anything if we have no concept of what that is? It is such a rip off from Ariel’s contract in the Little Mermaid that it feels more like an Easter egg than relevant to the story actively being told. You need to show why the actions happening are taking place, you cant just do things and expect us to pick up the pieces for you. Are you trying to get across that Heaven is full of bureaucracy and paperwork? There is no receptionist and no other person in the building until she signs ONE paper. You failed at portraying an overabundance of bureaucratic red tape and it is distracting and infuriating. All I see are the better DISNEY MOVIES that were clearly just plagiarized. Not an homage, not inspired. Plagiarized.
Lucifer calls Charlie to meet Adam. Adam says he knows. So this doesn’t feel like this is Charlie filling in, the way the dialogue is written is that it was specifically planned for Charlie to meet Adam.
Everything has a gradient.
I bet $15 that the Dickmaster portion of Adam’s dialogue was Alex Brightman’s improv. I was not impressed by his Kaiju Dick improv in Oops and this is just as flaccid. Pun intended.
There is a clear discccrepency in talent between Alex and Erika. He has such a smoother voice and range while Erika feels like a Disney understudy where every delivery is pretty much identical to the last. Like the songs themselves are not doing her any favors. They range from bad to mediocre, and even in the better songs, there is always one horrifically bad lyric that just ruins the entire experience.
I like Lute. She feels like Peridot.
RIP Katie Killjoy.
Nifty is cute. The joke for her had a lot of potential of being hilarious but didn’t meet my threshold of comedy due to lacking a feel for Nifty. Imagine if she was in every scene with Vaggie talking her head off and never shutting up. Then when Vaggie is like, “If anyone can sell this hotel, it’s Nifty.” And we had this foundation that Nifty is known for being a huge chatterbox only to then be dead silent when the camera is on her. It would have been hilarious. But we see her once and she has one singular line previous. So it just feels like a cheap visual gag.
As a musical, it is lackluster. I see that Evil is something separate from Lucifer and something he dislikes. Lucifer is said to see free will as a spring of creativity, but humans used it to suck and that killed Lucifer’s love of life. In the meantime, Lilith is empowered by Hell. Hell fuels her sense of freedom, which she spreads through her “songs”. Only for her to just vanish I guess. She just hopes out without a word, Charlie says she must be doing something important over the last 7 years, but no inclination on what important things Lilith would be doing. Additionally, Lilith is said to have loved Hell, like Charlie. So it sets up this idea that Lucifer dislikes Hell or even hates it, while Lilith revels in it. Alluding to their marriage falling apart from this dissonance. At the same time, Lucifer calls Charlie to meet with Heaven, despite the pilot being canon. So we get the impression that Charlie and Lucifer had a falling out (“Maybe dad was right.”) but she doesn’t have much more than surprise at her father calling. Then he just sets up this meeting for her to meet with Adam off screen entirely. It is unclear how this was conveyed, but Lucifer doesn’t believe in Charlie and her meeting Adam has nothing at all to do with her hotel.
But the way Adam talks about the meeting is unusual in that it gives the impression that it wasn’t about Charlie “filling in”, but that this whole meeting was specifically set for Charlie and Adam. This is compounded by how the ending reads like they didn’t know if the angel was dead until that moment. So the extermination being moved up has nothing to do with the angel’s death. Maybe I’m wrong, but this all feels really disjointed.
But Lute really is just Peridot. So much so that when asked what I liked about the episode, I literally said “Peridot”, not Lute. The one good aspect of this episode is another stolen concept from a better show with a more competent creator. But I also like Alex Brightman’s singing. He is very talented and he does elevate the material by really playing with his delivery, but it’s still at best Mid due to the weak lyrics,
3/10

I *have* watched HB but it's nearly impossible for me to get through every episode because the main character is voiced by Brandon Rogers. Who also is the show's co-writer. All I can think of every time Blitz speaks is vines.
Also Alex Brightman is in it, he plays Fizzarolli, but he uses his Beetlejuice voice for the role and it somehow jumpscares me every single time he talks
(prev post)
LMAOOOOOO I don't think I'll run into that problem cause I'm not really a musical nerd, if their voices sound distinct enough from katie killjoy, pentious and adam I'll probably be good

I finished hazbin hotel last night, and while it was mostly not very good, the finale was decent.
This has nothing to do with tdau, but what’s your opinion on the hazbin/helluva boss franchise? (If you have one)
keep in mind i never finished hazbin: i think the majority of it is cheap shock humour like south park except its not even trying to say anything, its just trying to be edgy for the sake of being edgy. one of my friends really likes it and even he admits it sucks at points. we both like sir pentious but ive heard hes literally a caricature of one of vivs ex friends she hates and wanted to make fun off. i hate how the only lesbian is vaggie. i liked vox, and think his musical number with alastor was the only good one, although i only watched the first two episodes. my friend who likes hazbin also thinks all the musical numbers suck, however, so ive got it on good authority from a smart man who i trust the opinion of (love you bestie if you want me to continue watching for you i will xx)
helluva boss, even though i only watched season 1 (maybe an episode or two from season 2), was a lot better than hazbin. it was funnier (i really love brandon rogers' work. when i heard him do the bryce voice for katie killjoy i was excited bc i thought his involvement meant hazbin was gonna be a lot better than the pilot. it was not) the animation was SLIGHTLY less overdone (from what ive seen thats not even true anymore) even though i didnt really care for most of the characters i did like a couple (blitzo is your classic brandon rogers "asshole with problems you sympathise with before they remind you theyre an asshole". fizzarolli and asmodeus were VERY cute and alex brightman is a talented VA)
i think the fact she got kesha, a SINGER, to voice a character, but ONLY THE SPEAKING VOICE, is literally the dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life. it makes me so goddamn angry. if you couldnt afford her to sing, get someone else. dont get a SINGER to voice a character who SINGS but NOT VOICE THEM SINGING. ITS SO FUCKING STUPID. WHAT THE HELL. HOW DOES SHE SLEEP AT NIGHT. I AM SO SORRY KESHA. I AM SO SORRY THE GUY WHO SIR PENTIOUS WAS BASED OFF. IM SO SORRY EVERY GENERALLY RESPECTED VA OR BROADWAY ACTOR WHO NOW HAS THIS PERMANENTLY ON THEIR IMDB PAGE. KEITH DAVID YOU DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER!

I know that at least two Jellylorums were also Christines in "Phantom" (Marni Raab and Sara Jean Ford)--would you happen to know who some of the others were?
Are you looking specifically for Jellylorums that were previously Christines, or more like the general Phantom - CATS or CATS - Phantom pipeline? I can give you a decent list of both, since we'd be atom smashing two hyperfixations together.

Hello GP! Is there a best Star Princess dress in your opinion? I've always loved Bridget Costello and Katie Hall's. And of course Sarah Brightman's. Thanks so much!
For me, I tend to favor well-fitted, sculpted shapes that are richly beaded and decorated but aren't too bold and bright in their overall coloring, with a good transition from bodice to skirt (so no bright pink bodice against a minty skirt).
So I'm sure I've said it a lot, but the original Hamburg Star Princesses are still my favorite, especially as worn by Colby Thomas. And speaking of German productions, they also excel at those soft, well-blended shades, like the one worn by Anne Gorner. I still adore the lavish beading on Viktoria Krantz's Star Princess. And as just an overall well-done version, the Star Princess used in Las Vegas and later sent to Broadway. The beautiful color transitions, the bell-shaped skirt, all that gorgeous, detailed beading done in shapes that further accentuate the curves, and that purple ruffle along the sleeves! You know it was an original Vegas Star Princess because of that ruffle, it was unique to them.
But I'll give a shout-out to the West End Star Princesses in the mid-2000s era, like the one worn by Robyn North. Lovely flow of the skirt and colors that are vivid without being retina-burning. And while it's probably the lighting I like the hints of yellow and orange, really highlighting the sunrise/sunset aspect of the dress (which is also symbolic of Christine's point on this journey! - is she heading towards Raoul's light or sinking into the Phantom's darkness?).

What do you think of Sarah Brightman in POTO? She gets so much hate from the "phans" but I love her as Christine. She looks so victorian, classy, proper and innocent. When I got into the show (which I regret) I couldn't stop watching her with MC and Steve. I love her voice, it's so unique as Gillian Lynne described — like a dew dropping. Also Michael Crawford and her were similar in age to Erik and Christine. I think she wasn't more sympathetic and "into" him because that's how she was instructed to act, Hal Prince was very clear about Christine loving Raoul though she felt sorry for Erik. And Steve Barton was such a perfect Raoul. My all time favorite pair is JOJ & Gina as well as JOJ & Katie Hall. I also adore Hugh Panaro & Samantha Hill.
Honestly I would love to give an opinion, but I can't because I have only ever seen one Brightman performance and it was quite degraded, so her visual performance was very difficult to analyze.
What I will say is that I didn't know this about Hal Prince (keep in mind, I've only been in the Phandom for about eight months, so I'm still learning a lot of the production's history.) And I find that interesting, given the fact that Lloyd Webber himself has always dropped hints (and in more recent years, been more open about) his own very pro e/c feelings. I think in the end, everyone in the production has their own perspective, and those combinations of attitudes bubble and collide on stage with different outcomes every time. We have to keep in mind that every element of the main trio shifts the chemistry and even with repeats of the exact same trio, sometimes the vibe you get from Christine can be very different show-to-show. I've seen Crawford/Kristien/Barton in three separate boots and Kristien's performance has had varying degrees of enthusiasm with Erik in every one. In one she was more naïve and timid, in another she was blatantly horny.
I've seen Gina Beck absolutely terrified with Ramin Karimloo and gently spooked with David Shannon. I've seen Rachel Barrell mortified with John Owen Jones and sweetly sympathetic with Earl Carpenter (though her Christine always seems to be Lukewarm for Erik no matter what).
I can also say, having worked with some theatre directors (and of course, every director is different in how far they view their directorial power reaching) but the ones I've talked to have said "when we're in rehearsal it's my job to show you what to do. Once that curtain comes up, my job is done: it's in your hands, you know what to do."
Of course there's a limit to defying direction, but an actors job is not just to stand there and do what they're told. They have to do it in the way that will feel most organic to them and to the people watching. Theatre direction is different than movie direction. The director can't stop the show and give the actors notes to make sure that everything goes just how they want it to. The actors have a lot of power to interpret their direction, and like I said, that interpretation can vary from show to show even when it's the exact same main cast.
So I'm sure Brightman had performances where she was more into Erik and ones where she was more into Raoul. But I don't know.
Now as for her voice, I'm going to be honest that yes it's unique and she's without a doubt a fantastic singer, I'm not a huge fan of her vocal quality. Her voice is very thick to my ears and it's just not my favourite. I don't hate it by any means, but it's just not my favourite.
As for the hate, idk. If she did have a lukewarm performance across the board, it is partially her fault, but as I've said, creating a role is a difficult thing. Other Christines have been able to look at her and form impressions, have ideas and come to conclusions that Brightman may not even have thought of at the time. It's a lot of work to build a character with nothing to go on except the book which only partially resembles the story you're acting out, so I'm disinclined to be very harsh towards her. But I think we as phans have a feeling that no matter how many Erik/Christine pairings we've seen where Christine definitely embraces her attraction to Erik and leaves only reluctantly at the end--pairings that vindicate the E/C stance a lot of us hold dear--theres a sense (and an irrational one, I think) that the original interpretations are the only ones that really matter. While that's understandable, I think it's a bit of a fallacy, because as I've said, shows like this grow over time. New interpretations add new layers and ideas occur to both actors and directors that they maybe want to approach things differently from now on. If they changed their perspectives, it must be for a reason. The first version is often flawed.
ALSO keep in mind that later Christine's, Raoul's and Phantom's have had the benefit of full-text translations of the book that weren't available to the original cast and crew. Post 1990 Christines had the benefit of knowing that, in the book, Christine practically admits to Raoul that, if Erik was handsome, she would certainly have fallen completely in love with him (and, with Erik being pretty darn sexy in the musical, that definitely shifts the perception of Christine as a character and how she would make her decisions in this musical timeline). Maybe this is a factor into why most of the 90's Christines I've seen really went in for an enthusiastic interpretation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who can really say?
Also yes, Hugh and Samantha slap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's one of my top 5 Christines.

Since Sir Pentious is voiced by Alex Brightman in the official Hazbin, if he was face to face with Brandon Rogers's Katie Killjoy, their talk would be like Blitzo and Fizzarolli all over again - both Blitzo and Katie are aggressive courtesy of Brandon while Fizzarolli and Pentious are pretty much clowns thanks to Alex. What do you think?
I foresee that being likely, although Sir Pentious seems like he's got some fighting spirit in him (along with his ray gun ;) ), so he may feel a bit more cocky in his fight with Katie Killjoy, but it will get heated regardless. ;)

'TIS THE SEASON
(from a couple of ideas from the brightman arena on Discord)
"Okay, guys!" Dewey said after the Christmas concert. "That was great! You guys did a fantastic job -- I'm really proud of you!"
"Thanks, Mr Finn," Lawrence replied.
"What are you doing for the holidays, Mr Finn?" Katie asked.
"You guys remember Beej, right?"
They all nodded.
"Well, he -- he invited me to spend Christmas with him and his family," he told them. "So I'm gonna be in Connecticut doing the whole, uh ... family Christmas thing."
"We kinda thought you and Ms Mullins would spend the holidays together," Summer grinned.
Dewey scoffed dramatically. "W-what?" he said. "No! Of course not! Why, uh ... why would you guys think that?"
"Because you like her," Freddy replied.
Blushing furiously, Dewey shook his head like he was having a seizure. "Uh, well ... yeah, I like her -- she's a ... she's a nice person --"
"Not like that," Shonelle chimed in. "We mean you like her like her."
"Wha- ... uh, what makes you say that? Guys, Ms Mullins is my boss -- it, uh ... it wouldn't be appropriate for --"
"Whatever you say, Mr Finn!" Summer giggled.
He nodded hastily and pointed at her. "Uh, yeah ... that's right. Because ... because I'm your teacher, and you guys, uh ... you guys have to b-believe me."
"We believe you, Mr Finn," Tomika said, but her tone said otherwise.
"Uh, yeah -- anyway ... you guys have a great holiday, and I'll ... I'll see you after New Year's."
"Mr Finn?" Summer said. "We got you a present." She handed him a gift-wrapped box.
He accepted the proffered gift, stunned. "You did?"
"We all chipped in."
"Gee ... thanks, guys," he said, smiling. "That's ... that was really ... thanks."
"Go on -- open it!" Katie urged.
He looked at each of them in turn, and then unwrapped the gift and opened the box. He pulled out a black t-shirt and held it up to look at it. Silk-screened in rainbow colours on the front were the words "Educational Rock Star" surrounded by stars.
He blinked back sudden tears and smiled. "This is great," he told them. "I really love it -- you guys are the best!"
Suddenly he was the centre of a group hug. "We love you, Mr Finn! Merry Christmas!"
"I love you guys, too -- merry Christmas."
*****
When Rosalie arrived at Dewey's apartment, she grinned in surprise. "What are you wearing?"
"Like it?" he asked. "The kids gave it to me."
"That's sweet," she said.
"Yeah," he agreed. "It's ... it's a little bit too small, I think."
"It still looks good on you, though," Rosalie breathed, placing her hands on his chest and moving closer.
"I-I'm glad you approve, Ms Mullins," he told her, biting his lower lip.
"I always approve of a man in a tight shirt, Mr Finn."
She pressed her lips to his -- a long, unhurried kiss. Her tongue slipped into his mouth, and his into hers, his beard rough against her skin.
"I like the taste of your lipstick," he told her.
"Strawberry Passion," she replied.
Dewey was confused. "Huh?"
"My lipstick," she explained. "It's called Strawberry Passion."
"Oh," he said. "Yummy." He gently licked her lip, and they kissed again.
Rosalie gently pulled away from him. "I got you a gift, too."
"Really?"
She nodded. "I was going to wait until Christmas morning, but since you're going to BJ's, I brought it with me tonight. Merry Christmas, Dewey." She handed him a box wrapped in silver paper. "I hope you like it."
He took the present -- it was large, but not as heavy as it looked.
"I'm sure I'll love it," he said. He started to unwrap it, but then stopped. "Wait -- I got you a gift -- we, uh ... we should open them together."
He put the box down and went over to his desk, where he opened one of the drawers. He returned with a small, square present in multicoloured wrapping. "Merry Christmas, Roz."
They opened their gifts.
Rosalie had gotten Dewey a sweater -- oatmeal-fleck with a Fair Isle pattern of diamonds, chevrons and zigzags in teal, black and white. And it was real wool, not synthetic.
"Wow!" he exclaimed. "This ... this is beautiful, Roz! How ... how did you know I needed a new sweater?"
She looked at him, amused. "Intuition," she told him, smiling.
"Thanks," he said. "I love it."
Rosalie unwrapped her gift -- the box bore the name "Zales". She looked at him, her mouth slightly opened in surprise. Then she lifted the lid and gasped -- the royal-blue-velvet-cushioned interior held a pair of sterling silver G-clef earrings inlaid with onyx.
"Oh, Dewey!" she enthused, lifting one up to get a better look at it. "They're exquisite!" She put it back in the box and removed the pearl earrings she was wearing, and replaced them with the G-clefs. She went into the bathroom to look at them in the mirror, Dewey tagging along.
"They look good on you," he said.
She turned around to face him. "You have great taste in jewellery, Mr Finn," she told him. "And I have great taste in men."
"I think you're right, Ms Mullins," he replied, his hands moving to her waist. He pulled her to him and kissed her again. "Merry Christmas, Rosalie."
