you know ...that is what I do think and believe into. That Kakashi secretly loves Sakura ..but he knew from the beginning ...that he stood no chance ....against Sasuke. I even come to believe ..that Sakura as well ..loves Kakashi back ..but either she is unaware of ...or is supressing it ..because ..there is Sasuke ..who she fears would go again the wrong dark path if she would let him slip through her fingers. That is what Kakashi confirmed to Sasuke in the end of the fourth Ninja war. I also believe ...Sakura has felt ...how Kakashi feels towards her. Kakashi is such a wonderful man ...and he lets her go ...and still does love her from a distance! I consider this true love ...if someone can let go ...because of loving this person He would never pressure her ...! That is real love.Kakashi thinks ..he is no better than Sasuke. So Sakura is better off with Sasuke. In which I will say no ....! Kakashi has always chosen the good way ...even though he stood before a fork in the road and was in danger to choose otherwise. Of course all can choose between good and bad. That is fact! Remember when Kakashi lectured Sasuke via Icha Icha in regards of his daughter ..and I am sure ...this caused much irritation. Icha Icha ..who is an adult literature is certainly not something that you can use for a minor. When I see Kakashi ..who intervenes when Mirai wants to have a peek into Icha Icha ..I dont believe one bit ..that Kakashi is such a dirty perverted uncle ..that he actually lectures Sasuke about his relationship with his 12 year old daughter. I pondered over that Episode ...and I knew when it comes to Kakashi you actually have to read behind the lines. Then Kakashis absurd transformation into Sasuke and Sakura ...and then I finally realized it. And when I herad Kakashi saying to Sasuke in admiration...on the bridge ...that there is someone much more suitable for giving him advice when it comes to Sarada ....and he vanishes before Sakura arrives ...there it hit me. Kakashi ...all along ...pointed indirectly to Sasukes relationship with Sakura ...and then it made all sense ....That is why I guess ...Kakashi still is more concerned about the well being of Sakura than any other thing. And that is why I believe ..yes indeed ...all this years as the Hokage and after that ,Kakashi still loves admires and cares for Sakura so much. You cant look at it otherwise ...because ...then ..you have that weird feeling ..that Kakashi becomes another Jiraya! But I dont see this confirmed...in any other Boruto episode ....so I stick to my conclusion!

Am I the only one who really likes the idea of Kakashi being in love with Sakura, although I like SasuSaku as well? Kakashi would have been my second choice for her, though. Of course Kakashi and the grown up Sakura together - no intended pedophilia here.

“So let me get this straight,” the man that Hinata now knew as Genma started, locking his phone. “You want us to date because you guys want to hang out as friends? Why can’t you hang out without us dating at all?”

Hinata nodded along, now wondering that as well. Was it so necessary to date? Couldn’t they just hang out because they wanted to?

“I don’t know if you know who Sarkura is,” Ino began, readjusting herself on the arm of the couch so that she was facing him. “But she’s a little insane. She and Kakashi had this whirlwind relationship. In the beginning, he was all she could talk about.”

“Yeah, she really could not shut up about him and his fluffy hair,” Tenten added.

“The fluffy hair, the sexcapades, you name it.” Ino tossed her perfect blonde ponytail over her shoulder as she continued. “When things started to go south, they went fast.”

“Right,” Tenten agreed. 

“One minute she was telling me how amazing he was and how he made her stomach flip, and then literally the next day she was in tears on my couch. I never asked her the specifics because I figured she needed more time, but after that first night of ice cream and wine, she just never brought him up again. Quit him cold turkey. Even after I asked her what happened, she just straight up ignored me, and it is hard to ignore me.”

“Ain’t that the truth,” Tenten said with a mouth full of popcorn. After Ino shot her an icy glare that she did not catch, she spoke again. “I brought up Kakashi once after they broke up, but I didn’t know it, and she just straight up left. Like we were in the middle of coffee, she got up, and she left. Didn’t even take her coffee with her. All I wanted to know was when we were going to hang out with him and his friends again.”

“Right, and that’s when you called me.” Ino turned to look at Obito and Rin. “And they tell me they’re a match made in heaven.”

“What does that mean?” Genma asked, listening to the whole thing with a quirked brow. “I never thought Kakashi would dip it in crazy.”

Rin and Obito shared a look that made Hinata blush even though the look was not directed at her. She felt the secondhand embarrassment in her toes and she could not hide it for the life of her. “What the fuck are you talking about, Shiranui?” Obito turned his attention to Genma. “Kakashi is crazy. Sakura is probably the only woman on this planet that can handle him.”

“Handle him? The hell did he do?”

“You did not see him when they were dating.”

“That’s because the bitch blocked me!” 

Rin giggled and Obito scoffed. “Yeah, I wonder why. You were trying to hit on his mother.”

“His mother is dead! All I said was that she was a MILF.”

“Guys!” Ino interrupted. “That is not important. What’s important is that Tenten and I want to hang out with Obito and Rin. Well, mostly Rin. And Kakashi and Sakura are not going to let us because their egos are too big for each of them to handle, let alone their pride.”

“It won’t be too hard,” Rin began, shifting closer to her boyfriend. “You guys date, they’ll see that we’re all still hanging out on our own terms, and Kakashi might forgive you for calling his mother a MILF at the same time. It’s a win-win.”

“How is that a win for me?” Genma asked. 

“You get to date our lovely Hinata here,” Tenten offered, approaching Hinata with a scary smile on her face. It was bad enough that Hinata was still getting over being initially blinded by this man’s rugged looks, but now all eyes were on her. She looked down at her feet, hiding behind her curtain of hair that fell over her face.

“Oh great. I get to date a virgin.”

“Genma!” Rin chastised, hitting his arm. “Be nice.”

“I knew this was a bad idea,” Obito muttered. “Genma has never had a serious relationship in his life. Asking him to go steady is like asking Deidara not to blow shit up. It should just be a fake relationship then, if you’re so goddamn worried.”

“I don’t know who that is, nor do I care. But a fake relationship sounds like the road to take to me. Hinata is a shy little earth worm that we must bring out of her shell. But Mr. Manwhore here must behave and take it seriously. He must be exclusive or he’ll fuck the whole thing up.”  Ino was getting fed up with Genma, Hinata could tell. She was acting like how she usually did when she dealt with Shikamaru. 

“No can do, Barbie, I like my style.”

“Oh, so you like being subject to Kakashi’s whims,” Obito quipped. 

“I didn’t say that-”

“Genma, the fact of the matter is that Kakashi and Sakura are fucking crazy. I want Rin to be able to hang out with who she wants, and if I have to orchestrate some elaborate scheme just to keep her happy, I will. Don’t forget whose roommate Kakashi was before he moved in with me. I can just as easily kick him out.”

“I just don’t get why you have to rope me in with all this shit. Why is she included in this? Look at her, she’s shaking like a leaf. She definitely doesn’t want to be a part of this.”

“I do,” Hinata surprised herself by speaking. When all heads turned to her, her stomach dropped to her feet, but she somehow found the courage to continue. “I-I mean.. I’ll do it. If it’s for our friends. I-I care about them, you know… If you think that some normalcy will bring them back together th-then.. Well, I’ll do it.”

“See,” Obito turned to face Genma, shit-eating grin on his face. “She’s in.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Genma started, eyeing Hinata and causing her to sink back into her seat. “You’re telling me that you’re on board with this?”

Hinata looked at her two friends, faces now a little hopeful. She nodded.

“You’re just okay with being a pawn in someone’s game?”

“That’s a little harsh, Genma, come on,” Obito whined. “And we never said anything about how long it’ll take. Just a year.”

“Fucking what?!” Genma shouted, now standing. Hinata jumped and yipped at the sound, a very small, very annoying habit from her childhood that she could easily blame on her trauma. She hated that part about her with every fiber of her being and tried to fold in on herself even more than she already was. Genma shot her a look that looked simultaneously perplexed and concerned. “What do you mean a year?” he asked, quieter this time.

“It’ll take at least six months to get Sakura’s nose out of her fucking textbook, that’s for sure,” Ino chimed in. She walked to the kitchen, largely ignoring Genma’s leer. 

“So if the goal is to get them back together, why can’t you guys just scheme behind their backs? You can hang out more, and you get them back together. I still don’t get why we have to be a part of it.” Genma was pacing now, every now and then stealing glances at Hinata, but after their initial eye contact, he didn’t think Hinata was even capable of looking in his direction. Even if he did find her cute, it wouldn’t matter if she couldn’t pull her weight.

“You don’t know Kakashi as well as us, dude,” Obito reasoned. 

“He’s the most stubborn motherfucker you’ll ever meet,” Rin interjected. “And I bet so is Sakura. And that is why they’re perfect for each other, and exactly why this ruse is the only thing I can think of that will get those two dumbasses out of their own little world, and into reason.”

Genma gave one last look to Hinata. She met his gaze again finally, and felt her cheeks warm. She tried her best to hold it, but her eyes kept shifting to her friends. “You get the final say,” he told her flatly. 

Hinata hadn’t felt this anxious in months. It was one thing to say they were in on this, it’s a whole other thing to actually do it. And Hinata had nothing under her belt. Not a middle school boyfriend, not a summer fling, not even a one night stand. This man was clearly experienced, and she was clearly not. Not just that, but he made her feel like she was walking on clouds. How could they expect her to be part of a covert operation if she could barely form two sentences around him? Her palms already started sweating at just the thought of maybe holding his hand. She couldn’t do this. She wouldn’t do this.

Sakura Haruno fic recs: ANBU

AHHHH!!!! I love ANBU fics, especially when they involve Sakura. It was such a cool concept, which was unfortunately never fully expanded upon. However, our lack of knowledge regarding the shadow corps allows for some really cool fic ideas since authors can take creative liberty on the structure and workings of the division.

In my opinion, Sakura had the most potential out of team 7 to join ANBU (at least more than Naruto). It's all about being discreet and efficient and although she wasn't strong during og, she possessed abilities that would be valuable for this. Her clever mind, chakra control, and genjutsu potential would've made her a good fit. Naruto was too flamboyant and Sasuke was too reckless and cocky, but this is just my take. However, with her new skill set from her training with Tsunade, I don't think she would be able to go down that path anymore.

Kakashi is a hateful turd and Sakura is spiteful! I hate this ship and I'm not a big fan of Kakashi here, but boy is this fic good. One of the best character developments I've read for Sakura and she certainly becomes of force to be reconned with. The ANBU lore in Masks is absolutely phenomenal and I love the whole system that is put into place as it adds for some drama (lol). Also, can we talk about how awesome crow summons are????

After the Forest of Death, Sakura comes to realize that being weak is no longer an option. However, she finds that change is sometimes painful and that truth doesn't always come easy. Luckily, she'll have some help along the way.

It's been a while since I've read Five Kingdoms for the Dead, but I just remember it being absolutely great! I'll be honest, I found a lot of the mind stuff pretty confusing at times, but it was still enjoyable. Also, some great characters are utilized in this fic such as Neji, Sai, and Itachi. Makes me really wish that we saw more of Sakura and Neji working together in Naruto since I think they compliment each other quite well.

Trials of Change - Espoiretreves || ao3 || gen || time travel AU || complete

Haruno Sakura made a promise. Looking in the eyes of her Shisou and the reanimated Hokage, she took on the most important mission of her life. Go back in time and try to prevent the 4th Shinobi War. Now, Sakura is back to her 5-year-old body, with all the knowledge and haunting memories of the future. She vows to keep her precious people safe and stop certain events from happening, without altering the timeline too much. The trials her emotions and logic put her through have her questioning her very existence, but for the sake of peace, she has to push forward. No matter what.

Trials of Change is actually apart of a time travel series and I have to say that it is probably one of the best of the genre! Now, Sakura is not in ANBU here, but she works very closely with team Ro (Kakashi's ANBU team) and it's a huge part of the story, so I'm choosing to count it anyway. I really adore all of the worldbuilding and backstories going on here in addition to the fact that there are breaks. Yes, the story keeps moving, but there are other things going on, like playdates, and not just Sakura trying to save the world. Also, if you love Shisui then definitely check this out since he has a huge role and his and Sakura's friendship is just so precious.

In which Sakura is not initially a part of Team 7. In which she wears her failures like armor and brandishes her fears like her most trusted weapons. In which I do what hundreds of other authors have done before me, and rewrite Sakura's story. Non-massacre AU. Canon Divergent. Slow-burn.

After Sakura's first team, consisting of the graduating class's "expendables," dies, she joins team 7 and faces backlash along her shinobi journey. Sakura doesn't join ANBU until the later chapters so fair warning that there isn't too much content in that regards (unless it updates). Nonetheless, Sakura views ANBU as vital to her career as it offers her the highest clearance she can get. Gaining her opportunities for information her civilian-born status didn't allow her privy to.

No one seemed to find it odd when little Haruno Sakura threw herself smack dab in front of a Chidori and Rasengan. Not even Kakashi stopped to wonder.(He really should have.)

The story of how Sakura came to be the sixth hogake despite all of the challenges thrown her way. I especially love Sakura's drive in addition to the political aspects. However, be warned that Kakashi is an absolute HATER (in the beginning), but he gets better! The Sixth Shadow is extremely long and I only just recently got to Sakura's introduction to ANBU, so I can't say too much in that regard.

Sakura got up and didn’t bother brushing the dirt from her dress. She had a feeling she was about to get even dirtier.She looked at the memorial stone one last time, memorizing the characters without even realizing she was doing it. It would serve from that moment on as a reminder of her determination. She wouldn’t let Naruto and Sasuke join the names carved on that stone.That was her nindo.

Sakura's growth throughout Daughter of Fire is great and realistic all while pointing out aspects from the original series which were flawed and dare I say misogynistic. I struggled a bit in the beginning to justify her abilities, but overall the story is really well done and the ANBU aspects are quite intriguing.

when eighteen-year-old, post-war Sakura is thrown back into her tiny, pre-Academy body, she makes a decision. she'd had a childhood once already, and this time, she's more interested in Not Dying when the inevitable shit hits the proverbial fan. so she will work harder, care less, kill more, and smile when she's done.and hey, if she ends up reviving an extinct nature transformation to attract the most corrupt, power-hungry man from her timeline, all the better for her, right?

Such a unique take on a time travel AU and Cut the Head Off the Snake executes it perfectly. Sakura decides that her first order of business is to infiltrate ROOT and that's exactly what she does. Sai, Shin, and Shisui are all great characters and team Ro is present as well. Very good!

Flowers only bloom just before they wilt When Sakura loses her fight against Ino in her Chuunin exams, she questions her ability to ever become a kunoichi, too weak to protect herself, let alone her village One wrongful promotion later and Sakura gets a second chance in the shape of a mysterious new teacher who against all odds is willing to put her faith in a young girl with potential and a willingness to fight. Or- a fix-it inspired fic where Sakura grows to be the powerhouse she was destined to become.

Flowers is a newer series (which has recent updates) and I love it! Critiques are made towards the medical ninja training, which I believe needed to be discussed and it's refreshing to see. In most ANBU fics I've read, Sakura is immediately put onto the strongest team, but here it's a bit different. She begins on a demolition squad, which not only suits her skill set quite well, but is a realistic approach to how she would be introduced to the corps. Anyway, it's one of my favorite reads at the moment and I really like where the story is going.

A recently orphaned Sakura, however, learns that some regulations aren't meant to be followed, and finds a place in Team Ro after being shunned from her former teammates. AHHHH poor Sakura. After her parents' death Sakura seeks Tsunade's help out of desperation to become useful. Under recommendation, Sakura's new goal is to make it into ANBU.

Sakura is probably one of my all time favorite fics because the emotions are just spectacular. The story is pretty heavy on ANBU and ROOT aspects, which I always enjoy, but I wouldn't say it's a major focus. However, there is an emphasis on the unfair treatment towards kunoichi. Anyway, the characterizations and storytelling are beautifully done. Please share this author some love.

Strobing lights flashed blazing pink and green over the crowd, pulsing over Kakashi’s half-lidded gaze. He tracked the motion of their target over Sakura’s shoulder, pulling her tighter with a spread palm over the small of her back.

“Your six o’clock,” he relayed in her ear when the lights cut away, plunging them into a hot dimness saturated by Kakashi’s closeness and his warm breath on her cheek. “Two possible accomplices”

She tipped her head back to bring her red-painted lips to the shell of his ear. “Poison?”

The hand on her back tensed imperceptibly, drawing her even closer. His thigh slotted neatly between hers as their bodies rocked to the beat, pressing dangerously close to where a blazing heat had kindled hours ago. “Heart attack,” he countered, ghosting his fingers up her pulse to mime a tap. His eyes met hers, fiery dark and stealing her breath. “Just like last time.”

Sakura slipped away from his arms, his heat tingling over her skin like static electricity.

It had been easy to kill their last target in his hotel bed a week ago, and it was easy now to brush her hand suggestively over Yamura’s thigh on her way to the restroom, allowing her eyes to peek back at him over her shoulder.

Yamura followed, hypnotised by her thin-strapped, body-tight red dress. Sakura’s skin was buzzing under the desirous stares of strangers as she passed from the crowded dance floor. Her heels clicked silently beneath the loud music, carrying her further down a dark hall and to the washrooms, where fate awaited her target.

Yamura only got as far as caging her against the wall before a spark of chakra overwhelmed his civilian pathways and stopped his heart. Sakura caught him before he could hit the ground, shoving him into the janitor's closet to hide his body from prying eyes.

Kakashi would deal with his accomplices, a damning shadow protecting her back.

As she waited, Sakura slipped into the washroom to check over her appearance. Her mascara had smudged her waterline, leaving her gaze shadowed and smokey, yet shining with the kind of heat she still felt low in her belly. Glittering green eyes peered back at her judgingly.

Sakura ran her hand through the humid tousle of her pink hair, trying to tame it but only succeeding in making herself look more sex drunk. Dampness clung to her hairline, a frizziness beginning to take hold of the longer strands. A stray lock caught on her lipstick painted a vision of delirious want.

She swiped it away, her smoggy breath puffing out of her lips. It was cold in the dingy washroom, as cold as the November night outside. Goosebumps rose over her glistening skin to chase away the heat she had worked up on the dancefloor.

And yet—she bit her lip as her attention was unavoidably pulled inwards—the blaze of hot, achy want still saturated her panties, even in the absence of Kakashi’s intoxicating warmth.

He had started this, no matter how unwittingly. Held her with his big, calloused palms; pulled her against the solid warmth of his body; whispered in his velvety, suggestive voice next to her ear until Sakura felt like a live wire.

She swallowed thickly, watching her pale throat undulate. “A-and?”

His eyes roved her face.

Sakura lost her breath at the sudden way he spun her around and pinned her back against the sink.

“And?” he reiterated, tipping her chin to ghost his words over her lips. “There are three dead men waiting to be found. And you’re wet, Sa-ku-ra.”

Her fingers curled over his jaw as her breath shuddered out of her. “Unless you plan to do something about it… it’s none of your business.”

That damn knee was back between her thighs, teasingly high. He gripped the counter on either side of her, pressing their fronts together and sending her heartbeat pounding in her ears.

Arousal sank lower, dripped out.

Kakashi made a rough, growling sound in his throat. He nosed at the juncture of her neck, face nuzzling her hair, lips skimming her pulse, and Sakura thought oh god, oh fuck.

“Are you smelling me?” she demanded, more turned on than she’d ever been.

His knee bent, and then it was pressing hot and intimate over her panties.

Hinata smoothed down her dress with her hands, already feeling them clam up. Her heart was beating faster than normal, and she could feel it in the warmth of her cheeks. This is fine, she reassured herself. I’ll just pop in, see what the big deal is, then I’ll take off. Easy as that.

She raised her hand to knock, taking her time, when the door opened to reveal a very flushed, but smiling Ino. Looks like the booze already started long before she got there. “Am I late?” Hinata asked, eying her tall friend.

“No, you’re just in time!” Ino cackled, pulling her in the apartment. “Guys! Guess who’s here!” Ino pulled Hinata into the living room, and Hinata was immediately met with excited, scheming eyes. Hinata only met them very briefly and very quickly at a party she went to with Sakura. She knew the man was an Uchiha, and the woman beside him could be his girlfriend. She couldn’t remember their names though, and she wasn’t going to with how fast her brain was going.

“You made it!” Tenten called from the kitchen, poking her head out. “I was worried you’d bail on us, but it’s nice to see that you took my advice.”

“Uh, Tenten?” Hinata started, not liking the amount of eyes that were on her. “Do you want to explain what’s going on?”

“Take a seat first, Hinata,” Tenten reassured her, disappearing behind the wall to finish what she was doing. “Do you want a drink?” 

“Do you have any cider?” Ino asked for her.

“That we do.” 

The room fell into silence and Hinata pulled out her phone to busy her hands. She opened a group chat that hadn’t been active in a few weeks. Maybe they weren’t so busy now?

Hinata was pulled out of her concentration on her phone from a knock at the door. “I’ll get it!” the Uchiha called, standing up abruptly. He stole a weird glance at Hinata that made her stomach flip. Oh no. What could that imply?

“I’m surprised you’re almost on time,” she heard him say from the foyer. She tried not to pay too much attention to the mystery guest. She had no idea who it could be and the anticipation was causing her knee to bounce. 

“I’m more than an hour late,” she heard the mystery guest say. Okay so he was a guy. A guy with a voice so smooth she could spread it on toast. Her breath became short.

“I purposefully told you the wrong time, figuring you’d show up over an hour late. Your curiosity would get the better of you eventually.”

“You know, sometimes I don’t buy that whole weird ‘air head’ shit you pull. You scare me sometimes, dude.”

Both of them walked into the living room. Mystery Guest’s eyes landed on Hinata’s and for one brief, swift moment, Hinata forgot how to breathe. She choked on her cider, almost causing her to spit up on the couch that she was barely sitting on. Her heart thrummed in her palms, and her eyes were on everyone that just saw her do a spit take as the man simply looked at her.

“This might be more fun than I thought,” came Ino’s voice over Hinata’s coughs.
