i watched mufasa today and was writhing in agony the whole time. partially because it was ugly. partially because the plot sucked. and not as much because i had horrifying period cramps.
#seriously tho i despise that movie#i did not want to go see it#but i also didnt want to be an asshole to my uncle who bought us tickets#it was a shit movie tho#hated it#i could point out a billion things i hated about it#EVERYTHING was cgi#every single character and the entire background#like atp just make an animated movie#but no instead i had to watch this weird uncanny valley between animation and reality#where everything is mildly unrealistic and weird but also way too realistic and weird#why do the lions growl and roar and whimper like lions but also talk like people#that bit was so weird#especially bc the lion voice never sounded anything like the people voice#one second youre growling like a wild animal and the next youre fucking james earl jones#like wtf#also it was odd to me that little kid mufasa was voiced by an adult and little kid kiara was voiced by a kid#like do the kid lions have human child voices or not?#it was so god damned confuzzling#the lions' faces were so emotionless. simone and pumba were annoying and unfunny and ugly as shit. the plot was bland and predictable.#i swear to GOD bro#you could have written all of the characters better.#give mufasa understandable and relatable flaws and attributes instead of making him Perfect#give taka understandable and relatable good bits and flaws instead of making him Evil#the characters had no nuance and no arcs#like i thought it would come into play that taka had undying loyalty to mufasa bc that was like literally how he was introduced#like his entire character from. the. START. was giving up his own honor for the safety of mufasa#but then he betrayed him? like what kind of a plot point was that?#also those white lions SUCKED as characters too#they had no nuances just malice

I was going to watch Sonic 3 because I played Sonic Adventure 2 and seen the other films.
Now my new reason to watch it is to get my revenge for Disney’s recent shit AND for removing the TGAMM episodes that I bought on YouTube, to ensure that the unwanted Lion King prequel flops when it has to compete with Sonic 3.

Dispite my best efforts I simply cannot stop thinking of the implications on the larger The Lion King canon of various sources that Mufasa has (a movie I have not seen and refuse to)
#mufasa#the lion king#the lion guard#I simply cannot stop thinking#like it’s a whole movie of retcons and rewrites and bullshit#and I refuse to actually watch it and give a single view to the live action cgi bullshit directive#but I keep seeing clips and I am obsessed with thinking of what ifs#and what the events of Mufasa have impact on other knowledge we know from the other movies#and the lion guard show#babblestar#and generally like everything about it#scar leading (perhaps even being the one to FORM the lion guard)#wanting at first to show forgiveness and dedication to protecting mufasa#but yet again continuing to only surround himself with males#scar despite it all adopting a stray of his own in Kovu#simba almost making the same mistake that killed his own father#in not forgiving the lion that initially plotted his demise but then changed his mind#scars anger growing when bloodline didn’t matter when mufasa took the throne#but it DOES matter for simba destined to become king and succeed his father#how easy it is to understand why zira and others sided with scar as rightful king#when mufasas rule was still in living memory#perhaps the cobra bite in the lion guard is not where scar got his scar#but when taka truly turned into scar. the venom amplifying his jealously and pushing him past the point of no return#scar despite it all continuing and continuing to trust and work with outlanders. outsiders. strays.#kion being sent away mirroring scar even further. and him finding his love successfully another mirror to scars failure with Sarabi#I hate what they did to Sarabi in this movie btw. they just made Nala again. they should have made her different.#she also says some shit very sure about mufasas Destiny To Be King just because she likes him better than Taka#also the idea she was part of a royal family and thus assigned Zazu completely defeats the idea of Mufasa being king from no royal blood#cause Kovu married into the royal family through Kiara so like. it’s not a new pride it’s just Sarabi’s pride still#no wonder scar tormented zazu so. zazu deserved it tbh

you know what? i think the concept of this is just not good. like, not to beat the same point into the ground, but this is The metaphor for capitalism, so how the fuck was he gonna stop that? i just looked up how the season was gonna end and it looks like they just did a shot for shot remake of the first season---complete with the same exact fuckin ending---but without any of the heart. i think ali was such a beloved character in the first place bc (to me, at least) it was such a pleasant surprise seeing diversity incorporated so casually into the show and how that added some more fucked up nuance to everyone's situation.
like, i don't know. i guess i shouldn't really be that surprised that a show about greed and consumption is being milked for 3 entire seasons, but i didn't think that they'd be reusing story beats shot for fuckin shot. i know this whole season probably even came into fruition because people were attacthed to gi hun in the first place, but i think it would have been so much cooler to pivot from that and completely focus on no-eul and the rest of the workers with the players and the games fading into the background. i know that follows the basic "villain" format thats getting more popular recently (im not saying she’s a villain im just saying she’s an opp), but i just don't see the purpose in stringing the audience along as we watch gi hun try to dismantle fucking capitalism
#take this with a grain of salt guys i dont understand anything#but god. i usually am a sequel FREAK (i enjoyed mufasa for christs sake) but this just missed the mark so bad for me#the complete mood change in the “take me to the moon” scene was what rlly did it for me#also i know that gi hun does not know this is a metaphor for captalism#but he didnt know that the first time around either and yet the story was still compelling#i remember watching alice and borderline and being disappointed in the ending#well... only at first. i think the ending was actually really good looking back bc what the fuck else were they gonna use as an explanation#but at least making sequel seasons would make sense#and it was really cool to see the pipeline of “he solved this bc hes smart” to “he literally just got lucky” evolve as we got farther in#the story#idk guys i feel like u could just tell how much effort and heart and soul was put into the 1st season#and then this one isn't even trying to tell a different story its just... dare i say... capitalizing off the hype#or maybe its not idk again i was only on the 3rd episode

I'd pay 10 million dollars for a Haruka 15th anniversary Princess League reunion show with T Set except this time /everyones/ in the audience cheering her on- they've got shirts and glow sticks and the Haruka headbands, they're all losing their shit and like Haruka wasn't going to do it at first, the girls came and saw her and were like Please Haruka and she would be dramatically like "No... I left all that behind." But Kiryu overhears and gives her some speech and says he'll be there if she needs him and then Harutos like "Mum, you gotta do it!" And she eventually relents and she's all nervous until she walks out on stage and all the morning glory kids and Yuta and Kiryu and Haruto are front row with tears in their eyes cheering her on and even Majima and Saejima and Daigo are at the back and Date and Yuya and Kazuki are off to the side and she's like :")

Every couple of years I rewatch Jungle Emperor Leo. I could write a whole goofy synopsis on what its about or an analysis on how Disney stole shot for shot scenes for The Lion King
But instead I’m just going to tell you its one of the best animated movies ever made. It makes me cry every time. I rented from a Blockbuster as a kid and its ruined my life ever since. Also it was made by the guy who created Astro Boy, Osamu Tezuka so the lion has handsome man sideburns and its AWESOME
