Here, author Fred Clark discusses fictional books and fictional entries in reference materials as copyright traps and how it relates to having a non-literal interpretation of the Bible. Here if you're interested in such things, but entirely skipable to my point. Trap Streets Mountweasels and Made-Up Words. He profiled a word I'd never heard of before - one of these trap-words, something that has essentially become a real word - for a made-up creature. ____________________

And here I go flashing back to the end of Trigun Maximum / ending episode of Stampede where Millions Knives and Vash the Stampede are flying locked in each other's arms with one wing each... Goddammit. And I idily wonder if Nightow was inspired by this fictional bird, but probably not, because it is so obscure and it's copyright-trap made up for English-language dictionaries. It's probably entirely coincidental. Still... Dammit.

Just so I stop bothering others cuz I’ve been super annoying the last few days- (It’s all fun and games but my shame kicks in and I have been trying to supress it), and also because I’m starting to get a little baffled about what I receive, I’m going to be a lot pickier about which asks I actually do respond to.

Unless they’re interesting, relevant (especially this), or seem fun I’m probably just gonna not.. Which almost feels counterintuitive to how I do things nowadays because I admittedly rely on being prompted by others a lot. Especially since trying to muster up the guts to post even the most asinine art I can think of feels like a shot in the dark. It feels almost like getting permission and having a safety net of sorts because I know beforehand that somebody wanted whatever it is I could offer. I don’t really feel useful or involved otherwise. But, I digress.

Don’t get me wrong I DO REALLY LOVE THE ENTHUSIASM, it makes me really happy to see 😳😭 and i’m flattered and super grateful. But, I’m really not like… some all-knowing person, and the more… esoteric the questions get, the less I have to say. If anything at all. There comes a point when I wonder how much is just a joke to gauge a reaction or something rather than genuine interest.

(wcau) house inserts himself into plainsclan battles sometimes even though with his bad leg he can be picked out as an easy target. if asked why he says it's for the thrill of it and ticks off some classic warrior cat rhetoric (that he doesn't entirely believe) while also proudly proclaiming his contentment at being a loner.

obviously he can't fight like he used to but he learned to adjust; he draws enemy attention away with quick swipes and bites and leads them to the stronger plainsclan warriors to take care of.

once wilson's in the forest with him, though, he sees through him easily. "you still care about the cats there. you're still hurt by what they did to you but you still care, much more than you let on. it's a good thing, house."

they find another battle happening at some point after that, and house was going to ignore it just to spite wilson, but then he saw robinchaser being teamed up on, missing clumps of fur, and charged in anyway. while robinchaser managed to escape, with two warriors on him at once, all house managed to do was put himself in his place.

that was until a ball of big brown fluff managed to ram them off him. imagine his surprise when he finally blinked the blood out of his eyes to see wilson standing over him, hissing and bristling and fending the enemies off in spite of his fighting inexperience (and unintentionally worsening house's big fat crush on him in turn)

sorry but if you actually think Cancel Culture ™ is a thing then you're kinda a dumb fuck. Cancel culture isn't real, holding people accountable for their actions is a thing, but this whole narrative around Canceling that's evolved over the past few years isn't real. It's never been an actual thing. Its just a fear mongering tactic to further vilify the groups who were being harmed in the first place and victimize the person who did something wrong.

Your fav being called out for playing an antisemitic video game that directly gives profits to a hugely influential TERF, who's said openly she sees getting profits / royalty cheques from her franchise as endorsements for her bigotry, is not "cancel culture". It's called the consequences for your actions.

You have every right to do and play whatever the fuck you want, but that goes both ways. If you go out of your way to build up and financially support these people who're openly advocating to take away trans people's rights, then you get to deal with people not trusting you because of it. You get to deal with trans and Jewish folks not feeling safe around you, not wanting to be around you or not wanting to talk to you. Because you have shown that you care more about nostalgia and temporary personal emotional gratification over the wellbeing and safety of those communities in the real world.

People have explained why supporting HL is wrong, people have explained why it's harmful, people have explained in detail the issues with this situation. You. Just. Don't. Care. i have this silly little undeveloped au in my brain that's just like. tedependent but it's the sarah jane adventures. sort of. not literally in the doctor who universe necessarily but like. local intrepid reporter trent crimm investigating weird shit except the local neighborhood kids will not leave him alone.

i have so many thoughts about this but none of them are coherent enough for a proper fic i think:

i just think trent being good with kids, generally. go mentor figure trent! (what this has nothing to do with my thesis what do you mean)

trent, like sarah jane pre-series, having a sort of reputation in the neighborhood (or in general, since i'm also incorporating his actual canon vibes/story) as to being standoffish, aloof, cold, etc., and generally anti-social, keeping to himself. and as the kids keep dragging him into things kicking and screaming he might also be dragged kicking and screaming into a community <3

if his daughter is essentially luke does that mean he adopted her under Strange Alien-Related Circumstances? absolutely it does, yes.

see i've got two great ideas for ted/tedependent. on one hand, although in the context of SJA/nuwho i'm not so much one for sarah jane and the doctor as a Thing, ted playing the role of like. someone from trent's Mysterious Past who he won't talk about who set him on this path? someone who was kind and wonderful and changed his life but then--at least it feels like to him--abandoned him? someone who made him a better person--from doing whatever journalism he used to do to this--someone who he's still kinda in love with... but trent can no longer even really talk to......until he shows up again? that's some good shit, not gonna lie. although i'm jimmying that into a happy ending somehow, goddamn it.

ALTERNATIVELY. henry being one of the Neighborhood Kids (as if we're using "canon" kids, we've got limited options) and ted being an oblivious parent. trent is trying to get these kids to STOP POKING INTO DANGEROUS ALIEN NONSENSE PLEASE THIS IS HIS JOB PLEASE STOP BREAKING INTO HIS HOUSE but they're stubborn and smart and they may or may not have saved his life once or twice and oh GOD THIS IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE but he can't just TELL THESE RANDOM NEIGHBORS about ALIENS. but like anyway this just painful secret identity-esque nonsense where ted knows henry's taken a shine to that nice journalist down the street and his daughter but does NOT know that henry is getting into Shenanigans(TM). this could lead into all sorts of drama about, you know, his kid being in danger... or, alternatively, ted has worked with some unit/torchwood-esque place before and is like OHH you know what? this explains that time i thought i heard you speaking an alien language. cool, cool. and trents like. .....WHAT

(some subjects he's very helpful on others he's VERY not) until they're like okay but you're coming to this bbq right. and he's like? no? and they're like you're coming to this bbq right. and so on) ANYWAY the point is they keep dragging him into their lives and now oops! trent actually knows his neighbors and has to go through the mortifying ordeal of being known. but that also means that when he gets badly hurt or sick he's used to the empty hospital room but now he actually gets people showing up and forcing baked goods on him and shit and i'm just feeling a lot of things about this extremely hypothetical au based on my already existing feelings about trent gaining a community in s3/post-canon,
