it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.

i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.

the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.

they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?

but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.

so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.

the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.

the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."

the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.

I think with Yor being so perceptive, she picks up on little things often (like we saw in ch 103). i believe this would impact loid more so than the usual person, because he is a spy and fakes every part of himself, so to be seen is simultaneously desirable and horrifying. like, it makes him torn between wanting to accept and reciprocate the love, or distancing himself so that it doesn't happen again.

thats mostly what the last panel is about, that dichotomy between 'omg this person noticed this about me, is this love' and 'oh shit this person noticed this about me, is this Doom'

I think the scariest part about Batman is the loyalty he inspires. Like this motherfucker has an army of children who might at any given time hate his guts, but are still 100% willing to throw hands for him if Bruce needs them to. And then there’s the Justice League, who also at any given time might hate his guts or find him insanely irritating and/or weird, but will also fall in line and listen to his plans if the need arises. And that’s like the most intense form of power someone can wield—voluntary obedience from people physically more capable than them.

The first thing Bakugo wants after a life or death fight with a villain is to fuck you.

Bakugo denies all medical attention, ignores his colleagues pleas to calm down as he barrels off the battlefield in a blind fury. He storms through the front door, still covered in freshly spilled blood and practically growling like a wounded animal while his eyes search for you in your shared home.

You rush downstairs at the sound, your eyes widening in shock when you approach him. “Katsuki? What the h—”

“Shut the fuck up.”

His lips are on yours in an instant, shoving you up against the wall in a desperate attempt to get closer to you. Dirtied gloves paw at your clothes, the salty metallic taste of blood and sweat coating your tongue from his split lip as he shoves his tongue in your mouth. It’s as if Bakugo’s body is moving on its own, his mind trapped in a haze of unknown need.

“Need you,” he groans while sucking your bottom lip into his mouth, one of his hands threading into your hair and holding the back of your head. “Shut up and fuck me.”

“Kats—”

You try to pull back, to ask him what’s going on, but he keeps cutting you off with harsher kisses and bites to your neck. Bakugo pants against your pulse point, licking the skin as his voice becomes uncharacteristically soft. “Please…”

That’s when you notice the tremble in his touch, how the hand on your waist is squeezing tight enough to leave a bruise. It clicks — this isn’t just about sex and he won’t say it, can’t say it. He needs you. Needs you to distract him, hold him and get the adrenaline out of his body, to not let the fear of almost losing you drown him.

One of your hands tangles in his hair as you kiss down his neck, your teeth sinking into the spot that makes his knees buckle. Bakugo audibly moans, a low and guttural sound that only you know how to pull out of him. You lead him to the couch in the living room, ripping off his hero suit piece by piece to give him exactly what he wants.

“Thank you” are the only two words that roll off his tongue repeatedly like a prayer, spliced between voracious moans as you ride him harder than ever before. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
