I was stubbornly not wanting to cry at dandadan I was like "single mom doing sex work supporting her child backstory! obviously some guys are gonna come attack her and her kid will die or be taken I've seen this I refuse to cry for this basic ass woman suffers story wanting to tug my heartstrings I REFUSE"
but then it was so well directed and Momo's reaction and the hug and "to a kinder world" and I cried anyway. you win this one dandadan.

sorry to be a bit of a hater but i do wish youtubers weren't so scared of making their videos just like, "reviews", whys everything gotta be a "video essay" all the time. every day my recommendations are filled with 40 minute videos titled "_____: An Underrated Masterpiece" where the first like five minutes are reading the wikipedia definition of "masterpiece" in a somber voice with dramatic themed text on screen. please just tell me how good or bad you think something is and use the rest of the runtime to explain why. you dont need to put on all these airs
#i know the ahem. channel. of some awe....... that whole situation kind of scared people off from using the word review#but like we live in the future now. you can make a review. i believe in you#AND LIKE i like a good video essay!! but im picky. because i read academic shit for fun#when i see a capital E essay im expecting theses. im expecting sub headers. im expecting multiple examples AND footnotes with asides#(and i know this is a controversial topic but i do expect them to be long. because if you read aloud a 4 page journal article its gonna)#(take a bit of time LOL maybe i just read too much academia shit. but i dunno man. theres not a lot you can say about like a big huge)#(topic with multiple angles if you only have like 10 minutes. maybe i just talk too slow. i need to breath <3 )#theres other formats too. surveys. retrospectives. informative essays. persuasive essays. etc#and like i also read lots of reviews not just of like movies and books but of like gallery exhibitions and shit!! they can be extremely#interesting a lot of work and some really beautiful writing!! nothing wrong with a review!!! theyre important#but i do get annoyed with like. the odd air of pretention i see in a lot of video essays. especially cause its usually not backed up by#the content. i dont care for those airs in academia either. nor do i like it in documentaries#just talk naturally. you'll find your voice. there might be pretention in it in the end but it'll be yours#if im making sense. i hear a lot of people talking in a pretention that is not their own. something they put on because thats what they#think they should do. you need to find your own pretention. be pretentious in a way that feels natural to youuuuuu#hell im being pretentious. about this LOL but like its my own. it is a pretentiousness ive built over the past half decade#play around. write a blog. i dunno. find your voice dear youtubers. find your voice

Tubbo turned around from where he has digging for the red body paint to see Dream push the offering plate full of berries back to him. The god had only eaten about a third of them.
"No, they're for you. I'm not supposed to eat them."
Dream slapped his tail against the ground once, his whiskers pointing back as he growled, squinting his large black eyes.
He had crawled out of the Snowchester sea with the form of a seal and Ranboo's shirt on his mouth like he was scuffing the other, and he had yet to pick a new form.
"You're goddamn tiny, you need them more then I do. You would look like a runt if you weren't strong. Eat."
"I'm not sure that's how it works bossman."
Tubbo sighs but he grabs a handful of sweet berries and shoves them in his mouth, ignoring the way they pop as he chews them. It almost feels like he's swallowing mini fireworks.
Dream hums, watching him eat the first handful closely before relaxing, turning his attention elsewhere.

so I have mentioned in passing a couple times that I was writing a not-fic thing that's basically an introduction to the downworld as a conversational 'for dummies' book written by a warlock
which seemed like a good place to start writing again as it's more forgiving re: style than writing fiction prose again
and I am absolutely going bonkers on the footnotes as tangential side thoughts (because Terry Pratchett is a formative influence) and I'm trying various different ways to note them in my wip file before actually looking up how to format them on ao3 again (I've done it before but iirc it's fiddly?)
so I've got a lot of brackets and weird paragraph breaks but it's pretty entertaining and it's a first draft so whatever
only I was writing one and forgot I was in a footnote and just tried to add a footnote to the footnote and I do not have a clue how to format that so I'm probably going to have to back it out in some way
but on the other hand trying to write a footnote to a footnote is amusing me greatly so now I want to keep it 🤣

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr

oh ok. so im gonna kill this guy
#got my grade back a bit ago on a history essay i wrote#which ill admit was dog shit#bc i wrote it in an hour and half and handed it in like 1 minute before the deadline#and i got a c+ which is honestly reasonable#but when i looked at the notes the TA had left on my essay#a bunch of them just werent true?????#like he said that i didnt use a specific source even though it was directly quoted#and cited both in my footnotes and bibliography#he also asked where the beginning of a quote i put in was? even though both ends of the quote clearly had quotation marks?#and then said that the thing i wrote after the quote (so yknow. the point i was using the quote as evidence for) didn't have evidence#he also said my use of the term immoral was not “nuanced” even though i put in multiple sentences and footnote explaining#what exactly i meant when i said “immoral”#since it was kinda the whole thing my thesis was centered around#oh and he said that he couldnt identify my thesis. the thesis that he later directly quoted in another note. so uh#yeah fuck this guy im emailing the prof#she is my bestie fr and i love her and i dont wanna bug her with this but this is actually beyond stupid#the rest of the TA's were good too. its just this one guy#ramblings

#michelle speaks#genuinely it is just that it takes so long lol. i am reading it & adding things & taking things out & i’m almost done w that#but then i have to fix my table of contents and all the citations many of which are incorrect#bc i gave up putting the correct footnotes for the supra citations bc i kept going back & messing up the numbers#so i have to fix all of those. but honestly once i finish what i am currently doing i will be able to submit it within an hr prob#the supras wont take so long bc i can just search for the cites. but i’m not going to proofread this like i wanted to lol#i am kind of doing it now tho a little as i’m rereading it. but if i get a tech resubmit WHATEVER! i’m not staying up all night 👍
