"6: Age you get mistaken for", "9: Got any piercings?", and/or "21: What I love most about myself"? :3
waugh thank you!! <3
6: Age you get mistaken for
so many people think i'm like. a teenager? like i always hear fifteen or sixteen, it's always so funny to see the look of shock on their faces when i tell them i'm 22, haha. in their defense, though, i've had basically the same face since i was a kid, literally if you look at a picture of me as a toddler versus a picture of me now very little has changed so XD
9: Got any piercings?
unfortunately no but GOD do i want them!! my sibling has offered to pierce my ears if i buy a piercing kit off of amazon, which, listen, i understand that's risky, but he's given himself piercings before, so as long as i do all the aftercare i trust him to not give me an infection lmao. i also have some that i want that should probably be done by a professional but that's not what the question is asking so i'll stop there i guess hgldskjflk
21: What I love most about myself
agh, the trick of self love again! this may seem a little superficial but i genuinely love the way i have interest in/am willing to dabble in things that are so, like.....varied? idk, i know it's not super unique ghaldkfj, but looking at my past and current hyperfixations, a lot of them are pretty different from each other, and i think that's kinda neat? it's not just that either--my playlists are comprised of, well, mostly indie lol, but there's a mishmash of other genres too, sometimes ones that feel like they probably shouldn't go together but that i love and wanna share with the world equally anyway, creatively i've had at least a passing interest in wanting to try my hand in creating a lot of different art forms (book writing, webcomics, game design, tv shows....), and hell, my blog is a messy collage of things i like and interest me no matter how much they clash, and i. i don't know, i think that's kinda neat! i think i'm cool for it! or at least i'd like to think so ghldksfjk idk y'all can be the judge of that i guess. i just think it's fun :')

the marauders as color/winter guard performers headcannons
(For the enjoyment of me and the probably one other person on the platform who’s two niche interests somehow overlap)
James:
Section leader during marching season, team captain during winter season
Takes it VERY seriously
Is the reason they have twelve hours of practice a week, but also the reason they score very high
Everyone hates him the second conditioning comes around, constantly yelling at the team (Sirius) to try harder while they’re doing suicides and across the floors at seven in the morning
Rifle prodigy (he cannot stfu about showing off how many rotations he can do)
The overzealous upperclassman that scares off incoming freshmen
Always the one lending money at competitions for food. Also has first aid stuff, electric tape, hand warmers, and just about anything else the team could be in need of packed
Basically Team Mom ™
Mary:
TECHNICALLY co-captain
Her and James are constantly bickering over whether her position is official (“That’s Mary, our FLAG SERGEANT” “WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN”)
She’s much more involved in flag, doesn’t like weapon as much
A good teacher, but brutally honest to anyone she sees as not meeting expectations
Resident playlist-maker, and has dominion over the speaker in the back of the bus
Is constantly critiquing the show design and advocating for aesthetic cohesion (“the rifles would look so much better if the bolts were taped blue, just saying”)
Sirius:
Is good at weapon, more so sabre
Doesn’t like flag as much, but always gets stuck on solos on it because he’s talented
Manages to miss his drill dot EVERY FUCKING TIME by just a little bit and it sends James into rage
Never really knows the counts, but always in time
Manages to look good even in the shittiest of costumes
Trauma dumps and tells wildass stories in the back of the bus on the way back from late night comps
Constant guard terminology sexual innuendo (“Remus, I need you to strip- your silk, Remus, mind out of the gutter 🙄”)
Remus:
He doesn’t know how he got here
Meaning he got dragged into it by Sirius and James
(Mostly James)
Is basically being held hostage because of his skill- that being that he’s a lot stronger than he looks, so he’s good at rifle when he actually tries
Always has some dusty ass beat up novel in his competition duffle (me)
Late to practice or gone often because he has so many other academic commitments lmao
Always covered in bruises from getting whacked by equipment
Competitive only when it comes to Sirius. (Sirius can do a one handed forty five?? Remus can do a DOUBLE one handed forty five)
Lily:
Marching band historian during fall season
Runs the guard’s social media pages
Organizes all team parties
A STICKLER for team traditions, and makes sure they’re continued on each year
Pretty well-rounded, but prefers flag
Like Remus, only truly competitive and spiteful when it comes to James
All the freshmen love her because she’s a good teacher, and she has a special talent of talking just about anyone into auditioning
Always mad about the state of disarray in the guard room
Peter:
Like Remus, isn’t sure how he ended up here
Isn’t really that great at anything, but he tries real hard
Plays trumpet or smth during marching season lmao
And somehow ended up in guard by peer pressure and a crippling fear of being left out
Marlene:
Weapon NERD
And honestly all around guard nerd
Is almost as enthusiastic as James
She even did baton for a short period of time for fun
Is one of those people who can just whip rifle around in that effortless way (you know the type of person I’m talking about)
Constantly coming to James with feedback about choreography, and they’re always either getting along very well or at odds
Definitely on her way to DCI
Resident makeup helper (she can do a mean cat eye, even on a highway in a school bus)
Maybe at some point I’ll do the skittles or other various characters lol but for now I’m imagining just the in-universe Gryffindors/marauders as one team haha

Imagine Nebarra's reaction to the machines. All these technologies, huge buildings, eternal noise and crowds of people. That is, you will have to hold Nebarra's hand like a small child so that he does not get lost in a huge crowd and run into trouble. We don't need problems with the police, do we?
I use a translator, I apologize for possible mistakes.
Theoretically, Nebarra has encountered similar marvels of engineering within the Dwemer ruins, and they're usually hostile.
Cars are enemies. First instinct is to beat it until it's inoperable.
He would then be horrified to find that there were *people* inside. He'd probably try to bash the glass in to free them LMAO imagine a man in a full suit of armor sending his gauntlet through your windshield!!!
But wait, they're operable vehicles? A metal animal? Is it really just a moving room? He would so hijack and crash a car. If these idiots can do it, how hard can it be?
Nebarra hospital visit to the 'unqualified human healers who don't know what they're doing' arc?
Once he understands what he's looking at, he becomes a car enjoyer. Sunglasses and speeding. It's a lot to manage, but he learns quickly.
He doesn't have papers so he can't get a license. Nebarra pulled over for speeding and getting arrested for having no ID arc??? Nebarra having no incentive to listen to authority arc??? I DO WHAT I WANT sort of mer.
Tumblr media
Cellphones. What strange devices indeed. Are they the creation of some Daedric Prince he doesn't know about? It would explain the hive mind they all seem to have.
He screams and flings your phone when he accidentally opens up the Google AI assistant. No wonder your people are so taken to their devices. It's actively sucking in their souls to feed its perverse power. No, no!! Get it away, get it away!!
...
As men tend to do, the air here reeks of something foul. He's so used to the stench of men, however, that he adjusts quickly. The cacophony of endless noise could drive a mer off the edge though and he's not keen on testing that theory.
He tends to keep away from areas that are noisy, but he has no problem in crowds. He's very happy to be swept away by all the new sights and sounds and could care less if you are separated because he can handle himself. Besides, you've been separated plenty of times before and he always finds his way back to you. Ah, wait, that came out wrong. He always returns to you- no, he will always find you again- no! He always knows you're not... far?
When you take his hand, he freezes.
The buildings are impressive. The blend of architectural styles is mildly counter-intuitive, there's a lack of cohesiveness in your civilization's building style, and though he can appreciate aesthetics, some of them are really quite ugly?? Oh well, this is farther than he could have expected men to get. Where are all the Mer? The Khajiit? The Argonians?
Are they inside your 'cellphones'?!?!?!!??!

different anon here- what do you think Lily's clothing style was like?
Ooh yes this question is right up my street! So my main inspo for Lily is probably Kate Bush, almost every photo I see of her from the era I immediately think LILY! Others include Jane Asher, Kitty Winn in Panic in Needle Park, Carly Simon. Images below in case you want to skip to them lol
The bright colours and groovy prints we associate with the 70s were really more of an American thing, for the UK it was really an extremely dull and depressing time lmao, watch any series or film from the decade and you'll see what I mean. So while I think Lily would have liked a bit of colour it was mostly pretty muted, a lot of earth tones. I usually picture her in browns, dark reds, maroon, plum, muted greens, with maybe a few brighter shades occasionally. Her aesthetic I'd describe as comfy and dishevelled but still pretty cohesive and a little bit artsy/bohemian.
I think she'd wear a lot of skirts- corduroy, patchwork, some florals- flare jeans, woolly jumpers, cardigans, and scarves. Also a few really good coats in suede or woolen or corduroy. Maybe an afghan coat. She likes a chunky boot or a clog. Also, the baker boy cap (figures 6 and 12) is to me a Lily Evans staple. I think she's wearing one in the moving photograph of her and James that was added in the films, and it just fits her so well imo. She'd be pretty minimalistic about jewellery, with only a few very simple pieces, I think mostly in gold.
Here's my impromptu Lily Evans inspo board:

Ok here's my thoughts on Shadow Generations:
What I loved:
The controls feel great. Jumping is great, boosting is too. Everything just works. And it's great.
The levels are varied and have a lot to offer. Aesthetically, they're stunning. They're twisted and packed full of detail and they so brilliantly distort. And the Doom Powers add a lot of complexity to it. Really can't wait to see some crazy speedruns.
Radical Highway in particular is quite noteworthy. Some really challenging but fair platforming that I can't wait to get good at.
The Doom Powers are good improvements to the abilities that Shadow had in 05 and 06. They serve as tools to gain speed and tools to attack, which makes it blend well into platforming. And they also managed to make them look badass and cohesive with the Black Arms aesthetic.
The hub worlds are very fun to explore. Loved being able to talk to characters and get nice dialogue.
Mephiles. I think having Mephiles and Shadow interact again was so interesting. Going through this sealed up labyrinth (probably because Mephiles and his time travelling is such a thorn in the side of the Time Eater). Hearing him be so desperate just to exist... wow. I hope that isn't the last we see of him.
Maria and Shadow's relationship was just cute.
The cutscenes were fluid, gorgeous and so expressive. When Shadow felt grief and pain, it really did show.
I just know I'm going to have fun during the process of grabbing all the collectibles.
They acknowledged Forces and made Sunset Heights so much better (this is personal to me as someone who has played more Forces than anyone should)
A lot of the concept art is things I have never seen before, so I will continue to eat it up.
What I didn't like:
There should have been a level inspired by Shadow the Hedgehog 2005. Something like Sky Troops, Circus Park, Black Comet or Digital Circuit would have been quite interesting. I could understand some hesitation because the SHtH stages aren't iconic, and the canonicity of these levels to Shadow's overall story is unclear (as the paths of SHtH are more metaphorical of Shadow's identity struggle rather than something literal). Still, I can't help but feel there was something missing.
The story just didn't hit with me in the way I hoped. None of it could really soak in because it was 4 hours long. The emotional beats of Shadow being overwhelmed with anger at Black Doom and him just longing to change the past were great themes I am glad were explored, but they just felt like moments. I think only the Mephiles part hit for me because I struggled to get the keys for a while, and I was in and out of that cave a few times. Got a little familiar with it.
There was no emphasis on DIE in 'it'll be a date to DIE for!' /j
Boss fights were cool and flashy but I doubt they'd be repayable in the long run. A lot of it was mashing a button. I think mechanically I enjoyed Metal Overlord the most, since it had the most gameplay to it.
Overall I fucking loved the game though. Maybe I need a little more time to chew on it. Probably another playthrough or two lmao. Please don't take my paragraphs the wrong way. My negatives are mostly just 'I want more', which should go to show how solid this game is.

Do you have any tips on how you do shading ?? Your art really inspires me and I literally suck at shading lmao.
hello anon!!! im honoured i can inspire you sdfhkjh it's crazy to me that i can inspire literally anyone :,DDD <33
tbh i do all my shading purely based on vibes/what makes me happy so im not sure im a good advice person but ill show you a breakdown of how i go about shading and hopefully that might help a bit? :o i've left it below the cut because i have too much to say and it ended up being really long LOL
of course if there's anything you want more details on i'm always happy to explain, just let me know!
okay SO ill use this asmo as my example, i think there's enough to talk about here that it should be helpful hopefully
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so here's my lineart and flats! i do all my flat colours in one layer because i find it easier to make everything look more cohesive when the pieces arent separated (i usually like it when the colours bleed into each other a lil), but i also just dont like the process of having to switch between layers for everything too LOL flats are unfortunately my least favourite part :,D probably because my lineart is so messy hahah
as you can see, the shading is very minimal here, just some subtle stuff in the wings/sheer parts of the fabric and some blushing on the skin, i also stole the orange under eye/liner thing from TBHK because <3
Tumblr media
and then i clean up any messy stuff by just painting over top of everything on a new layer, i also rendered the metal at this stage because i felt like it i guess???
i dont think i did a suuper good job at rendering the metal here (because i was lazy), it looks fine but something to note about metal is that usually you want to push the highlights and the shadows a lot more, as well as the reflections because it is so shiny and smooth this is why you'll see a lot of pink and blue in the metal, to show the reflections of his hair and the sky
Tumblr media
i would recommend using reference to get a better idea of how metal ACTUALLY works but again, i was lazy lol so that's a simple explanation based on what little i know/have observed
the jump here is a bit drastic and you might be like woah starr where'd all this come from?? but this is all in one layer-
('hard light' - 62% opacity)
Tumblr media
this is how that layer looks as a normal full opacity layer, for reference:
Tumblr media
lately i've been using hard light layers to shade! they're very versatile because unlike multiply layers i can do my shading and my highlights within one layer (do you sense a theme of me disliking having too many layers lmao)
SO this is where i have a bit more to say about shading you'll notice the prominent shading colour here is blue, this is because the main environment here (the sky) is blue. i dont know if that's how things work in the real world but it works for me LMAO i usually prefer to have my shading lean cooler purely for aesthetic reasons, i like how it looks more
you might also notice some areas where the blue is a bit brighter, this is to imitate reflected light, again because the environment is blue light tends to bounce around on things and reflect back even into the shadows so this is the effect im trying to get, i like to typically go with a brighter blue cause it gives things a sort of shinier? quality that i enjoy aesthetically, idk if its very accurate to real life tho it also helps me to give depth to the shading since shading isnt usually just one flat blob, and this is a bit of a shortcut to having more dynamic (?) looking shadows
Tumblr media
i also want to point out my use of bright reds on the edge of the shadows:
Tumblr media
i believe this is called diffraction- there's a real legit scientific reason why it happens but i... dont know what that is i just know it happens in real life (maybe not to this extent?) and it looks cool so i do it SFHJKSFH i usually blend it into the shadows though as opposed to into the lighter parts, i find that tends to look better
some miscellaneous things-
don't be afraid to throw random colours around!! who cares about realism, it's fun lmao
Tumblr media
this artwork is a spoiler for asmo's bday so shhhhh but i did want to quickly show that you can also use hard light layers to create a glowy effect, i literally just painted the pink/orange directly on the shadows layer and it helped to make his eyes more glowy
Tumblr media
of course i do go in and paint over a little after and add some layer effects but it helps to have that base there
Tumblr media
now that you've learnt that i dont know what i'm doing, i wanted to highlight a couple of resources that have helped me! i hope they help you as well <3
this video gives some really interesting insights into this artist's process and some problems they had throughout, as well as how they overcame them! it looks a lil clickbaity but i promise it's good!!
Tumblr media
this tweet also shifted how i think about rendering when i want to do something with dramatic lighting!
Tumblr media
+ an attempt i made to replicate this (i wanna try this again lmao it was fun)
Tumblr media
i hope that helps even a little bit, i did my best to explain but sorry if it was mostly nonsense though :,DDD best of luck with your art, anon!! <3333

hi nic!! any advice on how to start writing on tumblr? i have so many ideas for Leon fics (like, i swear, my head is about to explode) but this place terrifies me sm, i just want to write cheesy stuff about that man and give him a break
Heyyy anon! I know you sent this a couple of days ago but I hope my answers will be able to give you a guide. I also may not be so proficient on this since 1 - I started taking writing seriously in late August of last year and 2 - I'm sort of an inconsistent writer when it comes to fanfics lol. But regardless, I'll give you some tips that helped me along the way. This also may be a tad long so I apologize but I will try to make this cohesive lmao.
1 - For one, write what you want, not because it's popular but because you want to write it. In the beginning, I was always somewhat anxious about how other people would interpret my writing especially when it came to my understanding and experience of kinks, and as a result, I burnt myself out and stopped writing for a while. I also grew detached from the very thing that I enjoyed (Leon), and it made being a part of the community less fun even if it's crazy. Write what you want because you want to, not because it's popular or trendy but because it will make you happy. Don't do shit for clout or popularity either, especially if you're not interested in writing smut, because believe me you will start hating your comfort character and you don't want that to happen. The right people who like your content will find you and stick around, believe me. It's easier said than done to not get discouraged, but it's not impossible. KEEP GOING!
2 - Develop a style or aesthetic. You don't necessarily have to do this part, it's more of a personal preference thing, but I think finding a specific way to organize moodboards, pictures, or fonts will make your work stand out. It took me a while to figure out how I like setting up my posts in the certain way that I do, but it pays off because it feels more like I have ownership over my own work. Plus, it's fun making your posts cute, all the more reason to do it.
3 - Write things in the way you can best describe it. What I mean by this is don't feel discouraged that you don't use big extravagant words and metaphors in your writing. Sometimes, people will use very descriptive language that authors use and it can be hard to consume for people who want to come online and destress, now they have to figure out what words mean. (No hate to authors who do that either, very appreciative of them actually and they're very inspiring). All I'm saying is that you don't need to write like you're writing a thesis from Oxford, write how it comes to your head, and edit it after, no pressure. Writing is supposed to be fun, not stressful, so don't stress yourself out more by using words you don't need. Writing is a skill, which people often forget. So the more you do it, the more it will come naturally to you and you will develop your "writing style" on your own. What you should take away from this, is to just write what's on your mind anyway.
4 - When writing, have a plan. You don't always need an outline, and some people can write full pieces on the fly or just blurbs of small ideas that come to mind, but some brainstorming really helps. Usually, once you actually sit with an idea and plan it out a bit longer, you can find out other things you want to add to the piece you're putting out. It also just makes things more concrete, but then again, everyone has different ways to write. There's nothing wrong with testing out a few ways before doing it in the best way you understand.
5 - Follow creative writing pages for inspiration on prompts or writing tips. There is nothing wrong with seeking out material for inspiration or at least a start, or even following other writers and getting inspired to do your own twist or take on something they wrote (with credits obviously). There are so many pages out there that are meant to give creators a guide on how to strengthen their writing and ideas they can use for themselves. People don't own tropes or ideas, the world is your oyster, don't be scared to choose one thing and get that extra push you need to create what you want.
6 - Last thing I'll say is don't be scared to interact with other people. Tumblr is literally meant for interactions, without that we have nothing. I know this site is scary sometimes, but there are people on here who are in the same position as you right now, wanting to get started but don't know how. Sometimes, you just have to start and worry about all the other "professional" shit afterward. There is no right way to manage a blog, you do what you want to do on your space. Be weird! Be crazy! Be different! As long as you're having fun, that's all that should matter.
7 - And another thing, don't be afraid to use the tags. That's what they're there for, use them. You're not spamming the tags or being annoying, use them to give your posts visibility and keep it pushing.
Also big note: don't worry about other people, block who you need to block, and stay out of the drama. Believe me, it will make your time on here much easier to digest and less scary. The discourse is never worth it, because you don't know these people, and they don't know you. It's the internet, shape your own experience and what you want to do on here.

yeah I am pretty young lmao, I'll spare you from another playlist by just naming some artists that gave me inspiration for god knows at some point
first off you mentioned Hozier, which I kinda only mention because he released a new album recently. Arctic Monkeys and Father John Misty are kinda in the same boat as him. More like the same lake.
The Amazing Devil and The Oh Hellos never fail to give me some sort of D&D/character inspiration. Ghost does?? something??? as well with characters, but specific ones. Same with Steam Powered Giraffe.
other than that, Library Magic by The Head And The Heart is very Wizard, along with The Magician by Andy Shauf. and because I just can't go without mentioning it, Queen is my favorite band. :)
that's all! with any luck it'll end up being useful somehow lol
hozier is one of those artists who i dont listen to on purpose like ever i dont thinki could name a single song of his with confidence BUT i know his voice starkly as one i really lusted after pre-t. i saw he just dropped a new album and i HAVE to give it a listen to especially the video of sssomething or other (full album mv??? pLEASE) because it stars domnall gleeson and i am still horny for that man even after all these years (he's the actor for hux for context lmao)
queen is also one of my long time favs, though definitely a band i dont know in and out the way i do with a lot of more modern punk bands lmao. freddie has and always will be Gender (god the video for i want to break free was IT for me in like 8th grade right around when i came out)
ive seen spg live before!! they are *great* experience even if you're not deep into the lore (i had friends who were big lore fans). i have heard precisely One And A Half Ghost Songs and im keeping it that way on purpose because its just sooooooo funny that im not into them because aesthetically they are way up my alley (and one of my sibs, a number of irl buddies, and MANY artists i follow are all nuts for them)
ive some passing familiarity with the artic monkeys, enough that i can pick out a number of their more popular songs on the radio even if i cant name them (i am garbage at song titles tho so)
i'll have to check out the rest, especially good Wizards Songs 👀
in response!! further things to check out:
FUNKY.FM - playlist by alexmoukala who is one of my FAVOURITE video game composers. i know him primarily through twitter where he posts snippets of remixed or reimagined video game music... but FUNKY (this one is particularly relevant to u based of ur playlist shared w me)
ye old spooky club 1995 - playlist by unnerving governess who i am 90% sure is gothic charmschool. i know i got the link thru her but i thiiink she also made it (another playlist that may vibe w u based off your playlist)
creature feature, especially the album "the greatest show unearthed" (ookey spooky rock with a lot of vincent price era horror camp and a lot of really impressive technical skill. i want it to be halloween damnit)
the mind electric by the miracle musical (behold, the essence of the inside of my brain but in tangible form. it is. incredibly ominous. do recommend headphones for max goosebumps (includes a lot of records played backwards type sounds and other distortions))
dance monkey by tones and i (one of my big essek songs since i get a lot of that vibe where he's beholden to his station for *so much* that its a disservice to his growth as a person)
bottom is a rock by mother mother (my m9 as a whole song. the chorus has a line for each of them i stg and if i could reliably draw i would do an old school lyricstuck to it)
my verdict on ur playlist btw is that it is very solid and cohesive a+, but *just* to the left of my tastes, largely because a lot of it skews 70s/80s which just by nature of the beast lacks the bass i like (because it was mixed entirely different compared to modern music, which is better suited for sounding big when played digitally through smaller speakers. ive heard some of these bands on big sound systems and theyre MUCH more in line with my tastes then lmao)

question! the bits of gold in everyone’s outfit, Merina’s anklet, William’s eating, Cass’s trouser buttons, are they to visually connect them together? Flash’s entire ensemble is gold so I was just wondering that…
Also! The red/yellow/green hearts on Cass and William’s dyed bit of green hair a life series reference? (Idk if you’re implying that Joel is a Tucker, regardless if you aren’t I think the thought of that is funny)
OH lol my inbox just showed me this after I already sent the reoly kekW but Now i can get into better detail bc im not limited by character count heheeh >:]
So yeeee! The gold bits are meant to be like the mark of their friend group, and deffo is meant to be connected to Flash being always decked in gold. I like to imagine they were fashioned by Mianite and Cass from nether gold as a way of almost like calling to Flash, a symbolic tether or lifeline back to them, to let him know that even if Ianite has such a grasp on his mind (quite literally) they're always reaching out to him, that if he finds the strength, he can take it. And, it also from a design standpoint is meant to give them a cohesiveness with their very differing aesthetics C:
AND LMAO IM CACKLIN YA CAUGHT THAT /pos Yeah The patch hearts on Cass and Will's hair are absolutely references xD I thought it would be funny to throw little life series references into their designs bc the idea for Flash started initially as a joke for a "yellow life" Sparklez (with Spark as green and Jordan as red) It just turned into a little inside joke haha
Actually initially the hearts on Cass were just gonna be red because I wanted to allude to his characterization of being someone who wears their heart on their sleeve (a little on the nose design wise i know) but i was like. nah needs more colors and i was like. Haha what if more life series references giggles :y With Will's hair I just really liked Joel's green hair thing and I felt it would go nicely with the moss cloak I was waiting for someone to catch that. And ofc I made Merina a Watcher bc of the whole thing with people connecting Evo to Life series :D Also I just wanted to write a Watcher in general
Also it was not an intentional implication at all but the idea of Tucker and Joel being alts of each other is so funny and im like jokingly wondering if i should just make that a headcanon LMAO

Hello :) I love your builds so much. Would you ever renovate the apartments in San Myshuno?
Hey, thank you so much! I'm glad you like them 🥰
So the short answer to this question is sadly.. no , but here is why: I've actually spent a lot of time deliberating whether or not I would renovate any of the apartments in the Sims and as much as I genuinely would love to do it, there is something quite silly that is stopping me from doing it, and that is uploading apartments to the gallery just looks garbage lmao.
There is a slight obsession I have over the fact I want my gallery to be polished images of the builds & lots in their entirity, so that when people go to my page, it's sort of like a collection of finished pieces, rather than those like horrible white borders and dreaful angles that the apartments or rooms have. I actually spend a considerable amount of time adjusting the front of lots, to make sure the gallery picture is a well composed and crafted image in itself.
I'm a marketing degree girlie irl, so I'm a little bit protective over the aesthetics, cohesion and 'branding' of it all, which is very superficial I know, but it's personally how I want to present my builds!
💜

I wanna be tricky with this question:
Y'know how one of the main points of contention about Frontiers (and many games nowadays) is how utterly different it is from previous entries and how obviously it copies stuff from popular open world games and so just feels like "Sonic but in BOTW"?
Don't you think a similar point could be made about SOTN and its sequels in relation to previous games and how it takes very clear elements from Metroid and RPGs (which were becoming more popular at the time)?
I remember you asking a similar question some time ago? I definitely remember you asking me what I think about the radical shift between Classicvania and Metroidvania :P
And... yeah. Yeah, as much as I prefer the Metroidvanias, I can completely sympathize with those poor fans in 1997 who were expecting another simple, tricky but fun platformer starring a beefy badass Belmont, and instead got Gothic Metroid RPG with Bishounen Alucard as the protagonist
I am positive that if SoTN came out in recent times, it would have caused discourse the likes of which would make the Sonic fanbase look cohesive 😂 the Belmont being put aside to make the new protagonist shine? my evil Dracula gaining a sympathetic motive that sounds nearly OOC? retconning CV3 in the meantime? a game so easy that can be broken by anyone, almost as if to cater to the mainstream casual audience? fans can explode for far less 💀
and yeah sure SoTN took obvious inspiration from CV2, up and including the relic gimmick, but imagine if Sonic became a fighting game franchise simply because the new series director loved Sonic the Fighters lmao
I don't really know what to think of this radical shift because I didn't live it myself. Again, I sympathize with the fans who never warmed up to the Metroidvania genre and simply... didn't receive anything except for Adventure Rebirth, which from what I know only 5 people played anyway lol. For them the series died in 1997, and all the newer fans were gushing about what was essentially, from their perspective, CV in name only. I know that the games started to decline in sells after a certain point (rip bloodlines), but even the Metroidvanias eventually suffered the same fate.
I still think Mega Man has some of the smoothest evolution I've seen in a long-term series, with the right idea of creating various subseries catering to different tastes while rarely losing the core characteristics of a Mega Man game (Legends and Battle Network are the only "MM in name only" games I can think of). I wish more series did that.
Anyway. Funnily enough, I think Frontiers is more faithful to the core of Sonic gameplay than SoTN is to its predecessors. When you boil it down, it's an exaggeration of what Iizuka did with Sonic Adventure, giving Sonic a much larger space to run through and introducing RPG elements (lol). It still keeps the Rings, it still keeps the speed, it tries to include momentum gameplay (from what I know the momentum isn't perfect but I could be wrong). It's still Sonic, even under the BOTW aesthetic. What does SoTN have in common with the Classicvanias? uhhhh you have subweapons... you defeat Dracula in the end... the music slaps... you can't even say "you go through Dracula's castle" because only in CV1 you spend the whole game in the castle... yeah.

five things you love about Zeri? Go!
an excuse to ramble about how much i adore my girl? 👉👈 don't mind if i do
i. first of all i really love and admire her spirit! it's what pulled me to her in the first place — the way she's all about fighting for a world where everyone has a right to belong and have a good life. she really believes in a world that can be good and in the strength that lies in connecting with others and forming a community. i find that sort of outlook inspiring in general — i wish i was more like that myself —and from a writing perspective it's also a character trait i find interesting since it's not the kind of life philosophy i've gravitated towards in the past when picking up a muse.
i think it shows that she's filipino rep from a filipino perspective. i'm not an authority to speak on this but it's so clear that her character and especially this side of her have been crafted with love and passion. i hate that her most memorable voice line — i belong here. we all belong here. — is a direct response to a real life hate crime because those things shouldn't happen but it really drives home how important she and characters like her are.
ii. this is in a similar vein but her personality!! zeri really isn't the type of character i tend to pick up and get attached to ( i usually like them moodier gfdigh ) but something about how full of life she is and how strongly she feels and how positive she is at her core really speak to me? she has a strong personality — bubbly and fun but still grounded. i really like that.
iii. i love love love love how physical she is. she's sooo punchy despite classifying as a spellcaster / lowkey a gunslinger. granted this is partly my personal portrayal but something about her just screams brawler to me and i've chosen to lean into it. her in - game mobility and the way she's described to move in her short stories is very parkour-y too and i just !! something about how she's all about movement ( and then how that translates so seamlessly into her magic ) tickles my brain just right.
iv. her magic!! specifically how uncontrollable it is and how she's still learning to deal with that. i love that the amount of control she does have is a community effort and labours of love from her mother and father specifically. "her jacket, a neighbor’s hand-me-down, was modified by her father to dampen her powers and let her hug her family." / "with the help of their neighbors, zeri’s mother had fashioned her a rifle made of materials given by those zeri fought for: the people of the entresol." help i will cryyyyy. i just really love how she was born with her magic and that it's connected to her emotions because it's shaped her life experiences and who she is—there's so much room to explore so many different emotions that comes from that, the good and the bad. also the electric eel imagery is cute and fun and i love it!
v. let's end this on a simple note: i love her hair!! and her jacket and gun. those aspects of her design are so cute. the fluffy bright hair with the half up pigtails and big jacket especially are such an adorable combo, i can't get enough of it. while i find the rest of her outfit a bit ehhh — especially the top — she embodies the aesthetic of the parts of zaun she represents really well and i love that. overall, her design from her looks to her powers to her backstory is a strong and cohesive whole from a lore standpoint; she's a well - made character which makes her easy to love and interesting to explore in writing. also? i know this is something of an unopular opinion and her patch history is a nightmare but i find her really fun to play as well (even if i suck lmao).

thoughts on twice's current direction? i feel like alcohol free, more&more, and feel special were good steps in a more mature direction that twice could pull off - still your cute girlfriends, but less one dimensional. the alcohol references and styling specifically stood out to me in alcohol free, and their vocal tone in more&more was much more adult. they seem to have regressed in a way with talk that talk taking more from their younger very in your face bright clean twice aesthetic.
this question implies that i know what any of their directions have been, which i resoundly do not lmao. i don't follow twice and although i'll watch an mv when they have a cb, i have no real overall view of their career nor do i really know anything about them. i liked the styling for alcohol free because it was unusual and had a clear inspiration and particular visual reference that they were trying to achieve that matched with the concept. talk that talk is......confusing. it feels like they were trying to grab at a few popular trends (the digital/meta effects, retro, pseudo lingerie) without actually thinking about how those fit together cohesively. the styling had a totally different message from the rest of the production design. i don't think the styling is all bad in isolation; they're all around 25ish and it's appropriate for them to have a sexy styling if the concept calls for it, but the concept......doesn't really call for it? i'm scratching my head at what connections you can make between a relatively plain lingerie based styling and like, retro digital/game graphics. if you want to make that connection you actually have to tie the two together in some way. not just put them together in an mv and hope for the best.

pls ramble about anything you wanna for the prandy kids au i love it there
YAY thank you for willfully walking into my trap bc I'm just like *vibrates* about them and I haven't even delved into the other kids yet lmao. Which is what I meant to do in this post, but only really ended up talking about the Prandy girls with a little teaser about the Pleo girls at the bottom, oops.
Perri, despite being the oldest and heading up the next gen as a whole, does not initially come off as necessarily that much of a threat. Because the thing is that she's very peppy and fun and friendly and doesn't necessarily feel the need to go off hunting demons like others might, but like. She received the most thorough training as a kid and is the first daughter of the entire generation, so it always seems to surprise demons when she starts wrecking people's shit. Because some characters seem to stay the same person when their dangerousness is revealed, but Perri shifts from this outgoing and kind person to someone nearly unrecognizable into someone fully 110% intent on eradicating the threat to the point that it can be a little scary for someone to see her transform like this.
On a lighter note, Perri adores literally anything to do with art, like she will be the first person to drag someone to an exhibit or gallery or something. While Presley and Pamela aren't as invested in art the same way as Perri, the three can spend hours at a single painting, which makes it nearly insufferable for anyone else to go with them. Perri just enjoys the art and considering it from nearly every angle possible, while Presley will just observe all of the details and share them with her sisters, and Pamela is interested in the emotion of it all, like how it's invoked and the echoes she gets from its past.
I mentioned that she was working in fashion, but she's probably currently like an assistant right now. It's a bit hectic for her, but she loves the rush and the business of it all. She just loves being surrounded by art and creativity in whatever way she can be. If she had a transformation, I feel like Perri would end up as a Muse. She was definitely voted best dressed in high school and her outfits are always on point with just this super cohesive aesthetic.
Despite not being nearly as social as her sisters, Presley is really good at knowing what's going on with people because of her observation tendencies and being able to literally stop to see the smallest expressions on people's faces. That's actually why she's pretty close with Coop, who can relate to the way she's able to use her powers. While Presley isn't a very lovey type of person, she actually has helped Coop with charges before. (It was uncle and niece bonding! Coop likes getting to spend time with his nieces and Presley liked getting to see what other magical beings' jobs entail, along with spending time with her uncle.)
I mentioned in a follow-up post, but Presley is actually closest with her dad and uncles. She's just very practical but also likes being able to get involved the ways that they kind of let her. Leo taught her some stuff about fixing up cars while she kind of became this cool figure for some of Henry's younger charges to be a bit of a role model to them somehow. When Piper did accounting for the restaurant, however, Presley liked seeing how that worked (and actually minored in accounting in university), and she loved learning self-defense from Phoebe.
For awhile, Presley considered becoming a journalist since Prue ended up working as a photojournalist and Phoebe as a columnist at the Bay Mirror but eventually decided against it. Elise still serves as a form of mentor to her though. It's kind of funny because Presley really isn't that social but has some interesting connections that she's able to leverage.
Pamela is an interesting character in that it's really hard to dig out her real personality. She's so driven and intelligent, but it's almost entirely obscured by how lost she is in her own head. I've kind of implied it, but here's some explicit confirmation that in a story about the Prandy girls, a big plot would be the way that Pamela's kind of... letting her powers consume her? She just doesn't often feel connected to her physical body and is halfway experiencing the world through others' emotions, thoughts, dreams, etc. It's not great, and it's something that poses a serious threat to actually - not killing her necessarily but more like severing her connection with reality. She can see the past, present, and future but isn't really experiencing the present the way that she should.
Eventually, Pamela does want to go back to school because she has this deep love of learning but no idea what direction to point it in besides magic. Honestly, I like the idea of her doing something with computers or web design maybe, just a very sharp contrast to the artsy psychic vibe she had but we'll see where she eventually ends up. Currently though, she's working in a witch shop owned by an older woman who takes on this mentorish role to her. Is she good or evil? Don't know yet, we'll see.
Fuck, this is so long now, but I've really been dying to talk about Prose and Petra. Okay, I'll keep this super short as kind of a teaser about those two. (Update: "super short," she said, this is now two paragraphs but whatever.) So, like I said in the outline post of the AU, Piper ended up trapped in this plane between life or death when she was pregnant with Prose. The thing about that though is that the pregnancy is "a life growing where one is not meant to exist," as I said in the outline. Piper should've lost the pregnancy, if it wasn't for this mysterious woman named Proserpina who gave Piper herbs or a tonic or something made from her garden with her magic to keep the baby. As a result, Piper kept the pregnancy but being on that plane affected how Prose and her magic developed in the womb. An idea that I've played with around with Chris before but am able to explore a lot more with Prose is that fact that she's death-touched witch, which has... implications.
As for Petra, she ends up with the kind of opposite effect. That tonic that Piper took was to create and sustain life when one was not meant to exist, so, years later, it actually influences her second pregnancy as well with Petra's magic. There is a reason that I initially wanted to name her Persephone, and there is a reason that Prose's first name is Proserpina, lemme put it like that.

hey olly. hey olly.
well damn i wasn't planning on another ao3-style comment but nooooo, you had to go make another beautiful gifset (lmao i love both you and your gifset so much!!) literally saved this until i can fully appreciate it, i feel like a little kid wanting to open a present slowly to keep the suspense longer, like i'm trying not to look at the gifs first (impossible) because i want to give you my FRESH response. i adore colour palettes (to no one's surprise)!! so excited for the ep2 gifs!!
gif 1: NIKO MY BELOVEDDDD. i love love love the green-pink contrast, i feel like that is just very niko!! we see her in other colours, sure, but in my mind they're her main two. obviously the pink is the sprites (and the lesbianism of course lmao) but the colour palette just really draws attention to it which is soooo pretty. and the yellow and greens!! the way her school clothes actually look green makes the whole thing SO cohesive and satisfying. also also the different shades of pink, like if i didn't look closely i would've thought it was one shade of pink except the colour palette made me look! *heart eyes motherfucker*
gif 2: ohhhhhhh my god turquoise+gold my beloved!!!!! sooooo in love with this palette it's not even funny. everything is so turquoise and kinda monotone with the funky lighting, and then you just have a few gold lights to give the whole thing life ough. (also a fun callback to the ep1 cat leash, aka the conflict they're headed towards??)
gif 3: HI LESBIAN NIKO HI! i love how the animations reflect in her eyes omg, i wonder how they did that? the purple that's the reflection of the light on her hair :o i never noticed it!!! and the other non-pink colours, the sort of pastel-y light green and yellow is so perfect for this scene WOW, actually all of the animations seem to be all pastel-y! and the green coming from the background (window?) is SO COOL
gif 4: hhhhhhhh SUCH a fun base shot but not one that i think is usually giffed? at least i haven't seen it around. it's really lovely to get those scenes like little treasures! and the greens!!! god i love a good green and these are the BEST. the monotone? *chef's kiss* (also i think i said something about it in the ep1 reaction and i know there's an aesthetic reason for it BUT it really does make the boys feel more ghostly since the only colour on them that's represented is the greenness of the forest reflecting on them. it looks amazing, basically)
gif 5: oooooh neutrals + gold? did not expect it, but i LOVE. also very fitting for the bathroom as this sort of very mundane place. nothing supernatural's going on in here, no sirree. also also very fun camera angle! something something about the light itself being white, but the light it casts being this warm gold? also the reflection of the light in the water, never noticed that!! i know the water is for crystal to splash her face with, but it just gives off scrying vibes and i am such a big fan. they should let the gang explore more supernatural methods in s2! but i digress. (oh and crystal being much more present, the dark colour picking up in her hair as well as the tiles, and the beige and white in her rings, just like the taps! crystal is so alive)
gif 6: another green with some red this time!! lmao it's like an optical illusion, my brain refused to see the reds until i actually stopped and looked for it. so nice and autumn-y <3 again the accent colour being the most prominent example of that colour is SUCH a vibe. also. they are so teeny-tiny omg who let them out to solve cases T-T
gif 7: PIIIIIIIIIIIINK (god i love a good monotone) plus the (weird) perception we have of pink as this innocent colour vs this horror that niko's going through?? the good sauce man! also i love how the pink shifts until the middle colour basically fades against the background, that's really fun
gif 8: sprites sprites sprites! lmao i love them, they're terrible but at least they're funny about it <3 the colours?? obviously the greens, the gold in the coins and litty's dress, the white in their hats and clothing (and litty's highlights, damn girl), but that blue?? iconic. i probably wouldn't have seen it if not for the colour palette omgggg
overall: i didn't expect you to be able to surpass the ep1 colour palettes but i should never have doubted, oh my godddd olly!!!! just. WOW. loved all the nikos! loved the bright colours! loved the monotones! loved the greens! loved the pinks! loved the golds! (honestly it might be faster to mention everything i don't love, which is..... nothing) THANK YOU FOR GIFTING US MERELY MORTALS WITH YOUR DIVINE GIFSETS <3
