Hi Birdee,
Your post from the other day about your checkup really moved me - and bilateral salpingectomy is something that has been on my mind, particularly with 🍊 being elected now. Plus from my research it seems like it may reduce/prevent chances of getting certain cancers, which makes it a win-win ( it runs in our family).
I totally get if this is much too personal for you, so please don’t feel like you should respond to this - but I’m curious about how your experience was, re: pain levels and the process itself. Initially I was going to DM you to ask, but then I realized that there probably are a lot of other afab!folks who may be considering it due to, hence me submitted this asn. Would you recommend the procedure?

Hi hello friend!! god i love that shot of Joel so much. I'm totally not distracted at all.
Forgive me for taking a few days to get back to you, husband had his wisdom teeth removed yesterday and I wanted to be able to give this a good answer in case it was helpful to anyone else. Fingers crossed that is the last surgery either of us have for a LONG TIME. 😭
Anyways!
I figured I'd just go through the whole process for anyone curious.
cw under cut: description of medical procedures/surgery/blood mentions
I met with my gynecologist in September to talk about options. I had a copper IUD for about 10 years and my husband had about three weeks after they overturned Roe v. Wade, but I wanted something more permanent for myself. There was still a minuscule chance that I could get pregnant and there is, unfortunately, always the chance of SA. I live in Louisiana where abortion is illegal with very, very few exceptions, and I don't really want my life being decided by some emergency room doctor in the Bible Belt, so sterilization it is!
It was surprisingly easy to get it scheduled, but my gynecologist was very willing and cooperative with the whole request. I got it all set up for the day after my birthday, which husband and I laughed about because he got his vasectomy on his birthday. Weird way to celebrate, yk?
At my pre-op appointment I signed a bunch of paperwork and she did a quick pelvic exam--I don't think this is generally part of it, but my GP's office had not sent over the results from my last pap, so she wanted to make sure everything was normal for her own peace of mind. Nothing like getting a speculum shoved inside of you with your husband sitting next to you.
Anyways, she also explained the difference between a tubal ligation and a bilateral salpingectomy. Essentially, a tubal ligation blocks or cuts your fallopian tubes, while a bilateral salpingectomy removes them completely. The tubal ligation is sometimes reversible, while the bilateral salpingectomy is not. She also mentioned, like you said, removing the fallopian tubes dramatically decreases the risk of ovarian cancer because most ovarian cancer originates in the fallopian tubes.
The only surgery I'd ever had before was, incidentally, wisdom teeth removal, and that was almost 20 years ago so I was pretty nervous the day of the procedure. Her office is in a hospital so it was done in their OR. I got there at 8 am, already starving and grumpy because I couldn't take my medication or eat or drink anything after midnight and I ate dinner the night before at 6 pm so. Grr.
They took me back at about 8:30 to start surgery prep, made me pee in a cup, drew some blood, all that stuff. My veins actually ended up rebelling when they went to put in an IV, and they had to call in their "vein expert," a very lovely tattoo-covered man named David who took one look at my arm and said "Ah, this'll be easy. She's got great veins." He poked me once and found the vein immediately, much to the (light-hearted) irritation of the other nurses. Apparently, I was just very dehydrated and it was causing problems.
I don't remember much of anything after this because they immediately gave me drugs that made me loopy and then put me under general anesthesia, but it was a laparoscopic procedure. She made three incisions--one on each side of my abdomen and one through my bellybutton, so I have three little scars. Took about an hour, and I woke up in the recovery room.
I was home before noon.
It was a little rough for a few days after, but I think I got off pretty easy. I did have some pain in my abdomen and couldn't walk around much without getting worn out. It felt like I'd done some really intense crunches and I couldn't sleep on my tummy for about a week. I also had a few absolutely wild mood swings. I didn't have any bleeding after the first day.
I still have my ovaries and my uterus, I still get a period, all that's still like it was before.
Overall I think it was as good an experience as it could be. My only complication was that my IUD, which she was removing at the same time, broke apart and now there's just an IUD arm in me, but that is mostly unrelated to this. Apparently this is common when the IUDs have been inside for a long time and she can do a procedure to take it out, too.
WHEW this is long. All of this is to say is if you're wanting a permanent form of birth control and you can afford it (mine was mostly covered by insurance), I would recommend it. Especially with the current state of things. Protecting ourselves is so important.

WISDOM TEETH - chris sturniolo / triplets x reader
REQUEST - anon : Just saying that I would die for a Chris x reader wisdom teeth fic where reader gets her wisdom teeth out and the boys take care of her 🥹 or really any protective Chris taking care of reader.
"you good, babe?" chris asks, his hand coming to your thigh and his thumbs running small circles around your leg. you look down at his hand before putting your own under his, wrapping your fingers together and then placing your other hand on top before looking towards your boyfriend. nick is in the passenger seat singing along to both of yours favourite songs from the new billie eilish album, something you know he had done to calm your nerves as matt drives you to the dentist. you've been feeling sick for the last few days at the prospect of having your wisdom teeth finally removed, only braving booking yourself the appointment after nick had told you it was nothing to fear after his own, but you were still nervous on the lead up. it was currently 10am and you were officially 12 hours completely fasted, so your dry mouth wasn't helping. all you were dreaming of was your favourite iced coffee, which matt had promised to drive you too as soon as you were done.
you give your boyfriends hand a squeeze as he moves slightly closer to you, and you lean over to rest your head on his shoulder, not being able to find the words to speak. chris understands, of course, and plants a kiss on your head as you drive the rest of the way in silence, listening to the three triplets who chat and sing away.
when you finally pull up you let out a sigh before nick springs into action, his energetic energy easing you at once.
“okay, let’s go! this will be over and done in an hour” he says as he opens the door to get out of the car, you laugh at his words as you finally remove your head from chris' shoulder, but as you move to get out of the car his hand comes up to your cheek, turning your head back to look towards him. you smile as your eyes meet his, his hair still a little damp from the shower he took before you set off, and you lean forward to give him a soft kiss, which he accepts gratefully as he kisses you back. but as you pull away, your door is flung open and nick stands waiting for you to get out of the car. you let out a laugh as you remove yourself from chris, swinging your legs out of the car and stepping to the side. you expect to take the hands of your boyfriend, but theres no time before nick hooks his arm around yours and pulls you in the direction of the entrance.
"come on. i cant wait to see you high from the local anaesthesia" he chuckles, and you give his shoulder a playful shrug with you're own. you can hear matt and chris talking behind you as you enter the building, nick dragging you across to the front desk, greeted by a woman not much older than yourself. she smiles at you as she asks your name and when you give her your full name, she scrolls through her computer a second.
"ah, yes! its this way" she says, stepping from behind the desk and walking down the hallway behind her. "im not sure the dentist will allow all of your friends in, though" she says whilst looking back at you, and you give her a laugh.
"oh im not letting them see me whilst this happens" you joke, and nick lets out a joking shocked gasp at the side of you, his arm still wrapped with yours. the receptionist laughs at you both as she comes to a stop to a small waiting room and tells you all to sit and wait, and you'd be called when it was time.
matt starts wondering around the waiting room, looking at the posters and photos on the wall, whilst nick sits to your left and chris comes to your right.
"do you really not want any of us in there with you?" he asks.
"babe, you aint seeing me with my mouth forced open for the next half an hour whilst i lay there with no recollection of whats going on. its bad enough im about to be high as a kite" you say, and a laugh escapes his lips.
"let me come in whilst you get put under, at least." he says, grabbing your hand now, and you have to admit having him there whilst you get prodded with needles would be a huge comfort.
it takes no more than a few second for the dentist to emerge from the room to your right, calling your name with a smile on your face. you give him a small wave as you stand up, chris immediately standing with you.
"is he okay to come in. just for a bit, before we start?" you ask, and the dentist holds his hand out for you to shake as you reach him.
"of course! they all can, if you want. i'll just need them to leave when you undergo the procedure" he says, moving now to give chris' hand a shake.
"oh, thats more than fine. i dont want them seeing that" you say, stepping into the room. the dentist lets out a laugh as chris steps beside him and into the room with you, and you turn to see nick and matt looking at you with a hopeful glint in their eyes. you roll your eyes as you look at them, the dentist irrupting into laughter again as you raise your hand for them to come with you.
"they way you all are so desperate to see me in this state is unbelievable" you say, stepping deeper into the room so the two brothers can join you and your boyfriend.
"you saw me!" nick squeals.
"yeah, when you were home!" you say back.
"theres a video of me on the internet for the whole world to see, you'll be grateful is just us 3" he says, and you give him an eye roll again. matt chuckling behind him as he finally steps into the room.
"okay, pop yourself on here" your dentist says, tapping the large chair as he sits down at his computer. chris comes to your other side, hand on your shoulder in a comforting rub as chris and matt stand down near your feet. you give them all a small smile as the dentist starts to explain the procedure. you were only have two teeth removed so he predicted it would take around 20 minutes complete, but said to prepare for at least an hour to allow the anaesthesia to kick in and then wear off again enough for you to leave.
he puts on gloves now as he gets out the equipment needed to pop a cannula into your arm, which would give you the anaesthesia and then an IV drip afterwards to help bring you back to normality a little quicker, and as he wipes at your arm ready to stick in the needle you turn your head towards your boyfriend.
"talk to me, please" you say, eyes closed as you feel the tip of the needle on your skin.
"you're good, baby. so good. an hours time we can go and get you that coffee. maybe some ice cream." he says, his hand coming to your and grasping hold of it, running circles across your skin. you nod, before looking back at matt and chris who are staring at you already.
"can we go get ice cream, matt?" you ask, distracting yourself some more as you feel the needle go into your arm, chris notices' you flinch and gives your hand a squeeze.
"hell yeah we can. we can go anywhere you wanna" he smiles.
"ice cream and then bed, you're going to be so tired" nick says now, and the dentist lets out a chuckle at the side of you, you look towards him just as he's finishing up putting the cannula in your arm.
"he's right" he says, looking towards you. "the anaesthesia usually makes people very tired once it wears off." he confirms.
"bed and movies it is" chris says now, and the dentist looks up at him with a smile.
"boyfriend?" he says, and you watch as chris' smile doubles.
"yeah" he nods, looking back down at you with a doting smile which you reciprocate.
"you live together?" he asks, and chris nods.
"plenty of rest and painkillers over the next few days. dont let her do anything too crazy. soft foods. ice cream is good" he laughs, and chris gives him a nod. "coffee after this may send her a little crazy though" he says now, and you whip your head around to look at him as he pulls out the anaesthesia.
"you ready?" he says. "this wont hurt, but its gonna take about 10 minutes to kick in" he says, and you nod ask you turn your head away, not wanting to see the liquid flow into your arm. as you do so, chris brings his free hand to your face and rubs gently at your cheek.
"dont you dare record me when im out if it" you whisper, gaining a laugh from all 3 of the triplets.
"okay, i'll leave you too it for a sec. i'll leave this door open a while as you may start to feel a little warm. i'll come check on you in 5 minutes." he says, and you all say thank you in unison.
as the dentist leaves the room, chris perches himself on the edge of the large chair you're sat on. "how you feeling, baby?" he says, and you give him a smile.
"okay for now. he's lovely, isn't he" you say, nodding your head to the door in the direction the dentist just left. chris smiles.
"see, i told you nothing to be worried about." he says.
you're distracted by nick and matt who are laughing at something between themselves and you spend the next few minutes listening in as all three triplets start chatting amongst themselves. but then you feel it. it hits you almost like a ton of bricks and you let out a yawn before looking towards matt, who's furtherest away from you as you try and make out his features. when you hear all the triplets stop talking, you almost snap back into reality, but you can tell you don't feel your usual self.
"you good, kid?" matt says, and you see a smirk playing on his lips before a chuckle escapes nick. you snap your head to him immediately, before a laugh escapes your boyfriend too.
"fuck sake," you say. "this is why i didn't want you guys in here"
but your words are mumbled and the triplets can't help but laugh again, this time causing you to laugh with them. you let out a sigh as you rest your head back on the head rest, reaching out for chris' hand.
"im so tired" you whisper, and you slowly start to drift off just after you feel chris plant a kiss to the top of your head.
_____
you let out a groan, your throat feeling dry and your mouth feeling numb as you let your eyes adjust to the brightness of the light in the room. looking around, your eyes catch the dentist just at the same time as he spins around to look at you.
"ah, you're awake!" he says with a smile.
"what time is it?" you ask.
"10.45 exactly" he says with a smile as he looks down at his watch, "i told you it wouldn't take long at all." he says.
you bring your hands up to your eyes, rubbing at them vagariously before bringing your hand to your mouth.
"i can't feel my tongue" you say, and the dentist laughs.
"thats very normal. the feeling will come back within half an hour i should imagine"
you continue patting at your lip, unaware you're even doing it, when you open your eyes wide.
"chris" you say, and the dentist lets out another laugh.
"he's outside. do you want him?" he says, standing up and walking to the door.
"please" you mumble, all of a sudden feeling emotional. the procedure, the anxiety you had been feeling in the lead up to this morning, the anaesthesia working through your body, you had an overwhelming urge to cry.
"the other two as well? or just chris?" he asks. you don't even feel as the tear comes down to your face, but you feel the lump in your throat.
"just chris" you manage to choke out, and he nods in understanding.
the dentist leaves you alone for a short moment, shutting the door behind him. you're unaware that he's letting all three triplets know you've come over emotional, which he assures them is completely normal and will likely wear off after speaking to chris who you had asked for, and matt and nick wait patiently as chris opens back up the door.
"baby" he says, rushing straight over to your side. the tears are flowing now, but the minute you see his face you let out a laugh of happiness. you look towards the dentist as he laughs with you.
"you did so good, y/n" he says to you, and you nod your head as you look back to your boyfriend, who gives you a smile.
"don't cry, princess. its done. its over. you did so so well." he says, grabbing your face in his hands. you can't feel a thing, so you bring your hands up to rest against his, the warmth of his hands underneath yours bringing immediate comfort.
"please don't tell me you saw me with my mouth forced open like that" you say, and chris chuckles.
"no, babe. i didn't."
"thank fuck. you'd never come near me again" you say, the dentist sniggering behind you as he types away at his computer.
"i promise you, i absolutely would." chris says with a smile as he places a kiss on your forehead, moving his hands away from your face.
"don't flirt with me" you say now, snuffling away the last of your tears and using your hands to wipe away at the tears you couldn't even feel running down your face.
"you're my girlfriend. if i can't flirt with you who can i flirt with?" he says, reaching out his hand across you, when you look to the side you realise the dentist is passing him a tissue. as chris grabs hold of it, you try to grab it off him, but he pulls away and gives you a stern look before wiping at your cheeks.
"no one. absolutely no one" you say.
"well then, shut up princess" he smirks.
you sit in silence for the next few minutes before the dentist stands up again, looking at you both.
"how you feeling, y/n?" he says, and you smile.
"good!" to which he chuckles.
"give it 5 more minutes and im happy for you to leave. im sure chris here will take good care of you."
"you bet" chris chimes, and you give him a smile.
"you can tell matt and nick to come in" you say now, and the dentist nods as he goes to open the door, summoning them both in, but your eyes widen when you see matt pushing nick through with a wheelchair.
"am i hallucinating?" you say, looking around the room, a deep cackle coming from your dentist.
"you are not" he proceeds to say. "i imagine my lovely receptionist bought this to them for you."
"for me?!" you almost squeal.
"you carriage awaits" nick chimes, arms open wide as he gets out of the wheelchair.
"not a fucking chance. i've had my teeth removed i've not broken my hip" you say, scrunching up your nose. all 4 of the men in the room let out a deep laugh, chris holding your shoulder to steady himself. "im so serious" you continue, and you swing your legs off the chair you're sat in, moving forward to stand up.
"wooooahh" matt chimes, in front of you and holding your shoulders within a second before you feel warm hands on your waist from behind. matt and chris holding you in place so you can't move any further.
"i dont think so, kid" matt says, giving you a stern look as you look up at him, giving him your biggest dead eye, which only makes him laugh as you feel chris' hands pulling you backwards.
you roll your eyes as you sit yourself back down, and you realise how stupid of a move it was you just made, hands coming to your head as you feel a huge wave of nausea push over you.
"im gonna be sick" you say, feeling sensation in your mouth for the first time, and before you know it a paper sick bowl is shoved under your nose. you lean forward instantly, chris and matts hand coming behind your back both rubbing at it to ease you.
"this is very normal" you hear the dentist say as you keep your eyes closed, willing the feeling to pass. "dont let her do anything vigorous. straight to bed until at least this evening" he says, and you let out a sigh as you lean your head back.
"i told you" matt says, and you open one to look at him, genuine concern on his face.
"are you mad at me?" you ask now, that overwhelming feeling to cry hitting you again. what on earth do they put in these drugs?
matt only chuckles. "no, just chill" he says, and you look up at your boyfriend.
"are you mad at me?" you ask, extenuating the 'you', a warm smile spreading over his face.
"only if you dont let me take care of you" he says.
you groan again, closing your eyes.
"you're so cute." you whisper, and you hear a soft laugh escape him. you stay laid back for the next few minutes, allowing the nausea feeling to ware off as the IV drip finishes flowing into your system, when the dentist announces you can leave if you feel ready. you open your eyes and give him a nod before he passes matt an after care pack, explaining to them whats inside and how to help me over the next few days.
"you ready?" nick says from behind you, but it takes only a second for him to emerge with the wheelchair. you give him an eye as he gives you a cheeky grin, but you accept defeat you need it. you swing your legs off the side, the dentist removing the cannula in your arm, before matt and nick both reach out their hands for you to take. you grab hold of them, slowly standing yourself up, taking a deep breath as you do so.
"im good" you say to no one in particular, and matt and nick guide you over, helping you turn around to sit down. as you do so, your eyes catch chris', who you can tell is trying not to laugh. pointing your finger, he slaps his hands over his mouth.
"dont even start. boy" you say, the room irrupting into laughter once again.
you say your thank yous to the dentist, who gives your hand a shake and opens the door for you to leave, before nick spins you around and starts to push you out and down the hall way. once the receptionist from earlier sees you, she gives you a smile before coming out from her desk to follow you out the car so she can take the wheelchair once you're done.
when the fresh air hits you, you let out a sigh of relief, chris running off in front to get ready to help you into the car not to far away, but your eyes widen and your hands grip the arm rests as you start to feel nick run with him.
"nick!" you squeal, but a laugh escapes your lips before chris turns around to look at you both.
"nick!" he echoes you. "shes just nearly threw up in there."
"oh, fuck" nick says, coming to a dead stop.
"im okay" you say through your laughter, realising the giddy stage of the effects of the drugs you'd been pumped with kicking in. "im so okay" you say again, and nick laughs from behind you.
when you reach the car, door open, chris comes in front of you, arms out for you to hold onto.
"im good, chris, i promsise" you say, but he gives you an eye.
"let me look after you, babe."
"if you wish" you whisper, but inside you're grateful as you hold onto his hands, nick sliding the wheelchair from under you as you stand up.
"its my job" he says now, placing your hands on his shoulders as he placing his hands on your hips and guides you into the back seat. when you're in, and his hands are no longer on yours, you quickly grab at them.
"thank you" you whisper, and he leans forward to place a kiss to your forehead, no words needed. he hated when you thanked him for anything, his motto was that he would always take care of you no matter what. his hands slip from yours as he shuts the door at the same time as matt gets into the driver seat in front of you, immediately turning on the ignition and then turning around to you, holding out his phone.
"your song choices the whole ride home" he smiles, chris opening the door and climbing in at the side of you.
"we did that on the way here" you say, remembering the entire sing song from nick. matt laughs.
"and we can do it again."
you smile as you take the phone from him, opening up his spotify.
"you still want that coffee?" he says now, and as you look up at him, chris leans forward.
"she was told no coffee"
you hold out your arm to push him back into his seat.
"actually," you start. "i was told coffee might make me crazy."
chris gives you an eye before looking back towards matt, which you do the same. "coffee, please."
matt chuckles as he spins back around, nick now jumping in at the side of him.
you lean back, scrolling back on matts phone to find one of your favourite songs, a cheer from nick as it starts to play and matt starts to drive off to your favourite coffee shop. placing the phone back in your lap, you take a look over at your boyfriend and a smile immediately comes to your face as you notice he's already looking at you.
"you okay?" you ask, and he chuckles.
"you're the most stubborn woman i've ever met" he says.
"and you love me for it"
he grabs your hand immediately. "damn right i do"
you smile as you lean back, rubbing small circles around chris' hand with your thumb and you stay in silence again as you drive your way to the coffee shop.
but before you know it, hands are on your shoulder, softly shaking you. you sit up in an instant, forgetting where you are and everything that just happened as you let your eyes adjust. the headache is immediate. the pain in your cheeks is almost unbearable. you let out a wince as you see chris at your door.
"we're home, baby" he whispers, and you look outside to see the inside of the triplets garage.
"my coffee" you say, but you close your eyes and hold your hands to your cheek immediately. "fuck. im in so much pain, chris."
"i know, y/n. i know. come on, lets get you inside."
chris grabs hold of your hand as you slide out of the car, his free hand coming around your back and holding your hip to guide you. when you step out far enough, his foot kicks the door shut, not wanting to let go of you.
"did i fall asleep?" you ask, eyes adjusting to your surroundings as you make your way to the door that would lead you into the house.
"yes, but we got your coffee." he chuckles.
"my saviours" you say, and he only chuckles deeper. making your way into the house and up the stairs, a smile illuminates your face as you see matt setting up blankets on the couch, nick scrolling through netflix as you notice your favourite show ready to be played. chris guides you over to the couch, helping you sit down before you swing your legs up, laying back on the pillows matt had already prepared. when chris' hand finally leave you, they immediately come to the blankets at your feet and he covers you up.
"thank you" you whisper, as he leans forward to plant another kiss on your forehand. you close your eyes, feeling comfortable and grateful for the most attentive boyfriend and friends, before matt appears, opening your eyes to see him holding two painkillers and your beloved coffee.
"here you go, kid" he says, passing them to you. you smile as you sit yourself up, taking the painkillers one at a time, a pleasurable hum leaving your lips as the coffee hits your system.
"thank you. so much." you say.
"anything for you" matt says, walking off into the direction of the kitchen.
nick presses play on your favourite show, and you get yourself comfortable again before chris appears again, a can of soda in his hand. he takes a sip before placing it on the table as you open up the blanket, summoning him to get underneath with you.
he chuckles as he slides in, and you shuffle up to give him more room as his hand comes behind your head, pulling you into his chest.
you stay like that for hours, sipping on your coffee, watching your favourite show, drifting in and out of sleep, all whilst the triplets wait on your every move.
AHHHH I HAD SO MUCH FUN WRITING THIS I HOPE ITS OKAY POOKIES!xxx

wisdom teeth // oscar piastri (headcanons)
summary: oscar's girlfriend gets her wisdom teeth out
pairing: oscar piastri x female! reader
warnings: mentions of surgery, wisdom teeth, anesthesia....you know, just dental surgery related things
author's note: i lost the picture i normally use for my headcanon dividers and its pissing me off because i can't be bothered to go to an old set and save it again....maybe its time to rebrand slightly.
Tumblr media
he’s such a lover boy!! so attentive for the whole day and recovery period
drives her to the appointment in their Kia suv, something far more sensible than Oscar’s McLaren is, with the sole purpose of making sure she’s comfortable on the way home
he doesn’t leave the surgery once during the procedure. even though they’re told that it will be at least three hours to remove all four teeth, he simply takes a book out of his backpack and camps out in the waiting room
holding her hand while they wait for the anaesthesia to take effect, and kissing her on the forehead before he leaves the operating theatre
he wanted to say but the surgeon said ✨ not on your life✨
so there he is, reading mark webbers autobiography in the waiting room
when she comes out of surgery, she’s not delirious like he had feared
just fucking tired
“hey sweet girl, lean on me. let’s get you to the car. how about we stop for milkshakes on the way home?”
shes bundled up in blankets, groggy as she pushes the seat back, indie rock on the radio and oscar's hand reassuringly rubbing her thigh
shes asleep by the time he gets to the mcdonalds drive through
he has to carry her inside, securely tucking her into their bed and leaving the milkshake on the nightstand
watching tv in the other room at a low volume so he can hear if she wakes up or if she needs anything
helps her shower to wash off the hospital smell, holding her tightly and whispering how proud he is and how good she is
stroking her hair as they eat soup together while watching something mindless on netflix before she falls asleep in his arms halfway through an episode of monk
makes sure she takes all her painkillers on time, drinking lots of water
waits on her hand and foot, even days later when she’s almost fully recovered
“babe, I’m going for a girls night!”
“like hell you are. are you sure you’re well enough? the surgeon said it could take a week. your stitches still need to dissolve.”
“Oscar, it’s just a few mocktails and manicures.”
“fine. but don’t overdo it. no vodka, no sharp foods and no boxing classes at least until Monday.”
“okay, dad.”
but she’s smiling as she says it
Oscar just wants to take care of his pretty girl, and make sure she has everything she needs to get better

Helena: I need a raise.

Carrie: I don't get it. I brush twice a day AND floss. How do I still have cavities?
Leslie: What do you brush with?
Carrie: Toothpaste, obviously.
Leslie: And what do you floss with?
Carrie:
Leslie: Carrie...
Carrie: The British call it candy floss for a reason, don't they?

Leslie: Well done today, Duke. Have a sticker.
Duke: Why are they all the Justice League?
Leslie: Funding comes with a catch.

plot: luffy gets his wisdom teeth removed
luffy x reader modern au?
just him being all soft while he's high on drugs
word count: 1k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luffy, normally confident and carefree, was a mess in the days leading up to his appointment. You had to physically pull him out of bed this morning and he mumbled and grumbled about how he didn't wanna go. You coaxed him with the idea of getting food on the way. And he was dumb enough to believe you until you pulled right up to the dental office.
He was mad as hell.
He crossed his arms and wouldn't even look at you while you two sat on the chairs in the waiting room. It was quiet in there. Soft music playing overhead and the only other person there was an older woman a few feet away reading a magazine.
You turned your attention to Luffy. "Hey. This is for your own good. If you don't get them removed, it'll cause pain and your other teeth will get pushed around."
His scowl persisted.
The receptionist called his name and again, you had to drag him. You were met with the dental assistant, a friendly guy in crisp blue scrubs, attemping to ease Luffy's nerves with a reassuring smile.
It wasn’t that Luffy was afraid of the pain. His concern was the drug, nitrous oxide.
‘Laughing gas’, as it was called.
His mind is already loose and he says things with no filter. The thought of speaking nonsense without having control of it was embarassing.
Before going to the room down the hallway, Luffy gives you one last look.
"Don't be mad at me if I say something inappropriate."
**
"Y/N!!!" you hear from your seat mixed with the sound of giggles.
oh boy.
There he is. Barely able to stand on his own two feet while the dentist holds up the majority of his body weight. His arm thrown over the man's shoulder. You stand up and make your way over, biting back a smile at Luffy's giggling.
"Hiiiiii."
He picks up his head, that dopey grin stretched across his swollen cheeks.
"Hey," you laugh. "We gotta get you in the car."
"Okie dokie." he picks up his feet, lazily shuffling them across the floor.
Trying to get him into the car was harder than you thought. It's a mix of limp arms and legs, whining, and he nearly bumped his head. You and the dentist are both out of breath my the time he's situated in the passenger seat.
"Can I drive?"
"No."
Another pout and whine.
You close the door and turn back to the dentist, who gives you a rundown on how the procedure went and hands you a pamphlet on the aftercare and follow up appointment.
"You left me with a handful." you smile.
He laughs. "Luffy's gonna be okay. He'll probably fall asleep and wake up completely fine. Let me know if there's anything that seems abnormal."
You nod and tell him goodbye.
Once you get in the car, Luffy seems out of it. He's leaning his head against the window, staring off into space.
You pat his leg. "Let's get you home."
Getting his attention, he turns to face you. "You're gonna take care of me?" he mumbled. You see the gauze squished in his mouth. It's stained with red near the back, controlling the active bleeding.
You tried not to laugh but you couldn't help but have an adorable smirk tugging at your lips at his expression. As if he really appreciated you being there with him.
**
He nodded off to sleep in the car, only for you to arouse him up when you got back home. He blinks his eyes a few times, all disoriented. You finally get him inside the house and sit him down on the couch.
He slumps into the cushions, eyes half-lidded as you gently remove his shoes.
His eyes suddenly become wide and he reaches up to touch his face. "My wips. I can't feel my wips! They're...they're gone!"
His lips. Still numb from the procedure.
He's franctically touching his face where he knows his lips should be. You stop him because he shouldn't be touching his mouth at all.
"Luffy stop! Your lips aren't gone. They're right here." You use your fingers to gently tug on them.
He goes cross eyed attempting to look.
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
"Yup." you say, then patting his cheek in reassurance.
He copies your action. Patting his right cheek, then his left.
Right.
Left.
Then both at the same time over and over again.
"Hehehehe." he giggles. "It's like a balloon."
"You're right." you chuckled at his antics. "I'll bring you a blanket to make you more comfortable."
You turn from him, going around to the hall closet, pulling a cozy blanket out. With it in your hands, you make your way back over to where he was sitting to find him gone.
Not surprising.
He wouldn’t be able to sit still sober.
There's the sound of whimpering coming from the bathroom around the corner. You follow the sound to find him standing in front of the mirror. He's staring at his relfection, gauze out, mouth agape, and tears about to well up in his eyes.
"My teeth...the dentist...he...he...s-stole them!"
"Luffy, he did not steal them." You breathed in an attempt to not laugh. "He took them out because they were going to cause problems. And you have to keep to gauze in." you tell him, pinching the white material and helping it back into the corners of his mouth.
"But-" he mumbles, convinced he's been robbed and you guide him back to the couch. He gives you a look of confusion, his numbness preventing him from arguing any further. You take a moment to admire his goofy expression before focusing on the task at hand.
"Alright, I'll be back. Don't go anywhere." you tease. Turning back on your heel, you add, “And don’t pull that gauze out again.”
“So hostile.” he mumbled.
Heading to the kitchen, you start to find what soft foods he can have since he can'y have anything solid for a while. Deciding on ice cream, you prepare it in a bowl and return to him.
He's sprawled out underneath the blanket you gave him, eyes closed and a soft snore coming from his mouth. The anesthesia has clearly taken its toll. You smile to yourself and decide not to disturb his much needed sleep.

Summary: You get your wisdom teeth removed and Harry looks after you.
Pairing: Boyfriend Harry x Reader
Word count: 2,290
A/N: Thank you to the lovely follower who requested this! I had fun writing this. hope you enjoy it!
The day you had been dreading was finally here; the day were had to have your wisdom teeth removed. You were grateful that Harry was able to take the day off to come with you and look after you. To say you were nervous was an understatement and you couldn’t hide it.
“You’re shaking love” Harry remarked as he looked across at you for a brief moment while he was driving and placing his hand on top of yours to help comfort you.
You hadn’t noticed were visibly shaking but you looked down and saw your shaky hands, you sighed in frustration.
“I hate this” and Harry smiled sympathetically “I know you do babe. Just think, within an hour it’ll all be done and we’ll be back home. I’ll be with you the whole time, you can squeeze my hand as hard as you want” he offered and you smiled over at him.
“Fancy switching places with me?” You joked and he stifled a laugh “if I could I would babe but you’re gonna be just fine, think happy thoughts” he said, which was much easier said than done.
You weren’t being ‘put under’ for it since your dentist had assured you wouldn’t need it and that the teeth were “easily accessible” whatever that meant in dentist talk so you were more nervous that you would be awake the entire time.
He pulled up outside the dental practice and turned off the engine. You were sitting with your head against the headrest, trying to hold it together. You let out a shaky breath to try and slow your heart rate down.
“Breathe baby, you’re okay. Take a big deep breath in” Harry instructed as he helped you slow down your breathing. You did as Harry said and held it for a few seconds “and slowly out” he said and you blew out, trying to calm down.
“Better?” He asked and you nodded, keeping your eyes closed. “It’ll be okay, I know it’s scary but I won’t leave your side alright? I know you can do this” he said brushing a piece of hair away from your face.
You sighed once again and opened your eyes to see Harry looking at you sympathetically.
“Come on, let’s get it over with” he said as he encouraged you. You knew you had to do it, there was no way of getting out of it so you pulled yourself out of the car and took Harry’s hand for support as you walked into the dentist.
If your stomach wasn’t already doing somersaults before, it certainly was now that the all too familiar clinical smell hit you like a ton of bricks as soon as you stepped inside.
“I feel sick” you whispered to Harry “it’s okay, just try to slow your breathing down. Go and sit down and I’ll check you in” he said placing a kiss on your forehead.
You walked over to the waiting room and took a seat in one of the empty chairs. Luckily, there was only one older man reading a paper who was sitting in there with you.
You looked at your phone for the time, it was 9:55am, it only 5 minutes until your appointment. Your stomach felt queasy and you had started shaking again. Your heart stopped when you heard the waiting room door open but relaxed slightly when you seen it was only Harry coming to join you.
“You okay?” He said quietly while he was coming to join you.
“I’m great, never been better” you replied sarcastically and he laughed.
“Alright missy, enough with the sarcasm”
“Sorry, ignore me” you said to him.
“I’ll never ignore you” he said putting his arm around you for comfort. “How about after this we head home and have a movie day on the sofa?”
You nodded in response and it was quiet for a few seconds until the waiting room door opened again.
A young dental nurse came in and called for the man who was reading the paper. You were dreading your name being called next.
The thought of a man pulling 4 teeth out of your mouth while you were awake in just under 5 minutes, terrified you so much so that you were ready to stand up and leave, that was until the waiting room door being opened and you heard your name being called.
You must have looked like a rabbit in headlights as Harry chuckled a little next to you.
“Come on love” Harry said as he stood up and held his hand out for you to take.
You stood up, taking his hand and looking towards the door to see an older looking lady with dark brown hair which was pinned back with a claw clip.
“Morning darling! How are you today?” She asked kindly as you approached.
“Fine thank you” you replied sheepishly.
“Gorgeous day today isn’t it! I just love the sunshine, I wish it could stay all year round” she said cheerily as she led you back to the room. Her name tag read 'Anne' which comforted you a little bit as she sort of reminded you of Harry’s mum, Anne, who always chatted away and made you feel comfortable.
She was a bubbly woman who looked to be in her 50’s with dark brunette hair.
You couldn’t really concentrate on what she was saying however as you were just trying your best not to faint as you walked through the corridor.
Approaching the room, Anne held the door open for you “Here we are, on you two go in”
You walked in and a new wave of nausea hit you when you saw the dental chair.
“Hi y/n, in you come and take a seat” the dentist who was in his late 40’s said as you and Harry walked in.
You smiled sheepishly and said hello as you took a seat in the chair, Harry introducing himself to the dentist and then sitting down on the little couch that was situated by the window for friends and family.
“How are you today?” He asked as he pulled on a pair of gloves to get started.
“Fine thank you” you replied, your voice shaky as you couldn’t hide the fact you were scared.
“A bit nervous?” He said sensing your fear and you nodded “yeah, I’m not looking forward to it” you said and he smiled sympathetically.
“I completely understand, do you want me to run through how we’ll do it to try and put your mind at ease?”
You nodded and the dentist spent the next 5 minutes talking briefly over how the appointment would go. It did help put your mind at ease a little bit but you stomach was still doing summersaults.
“Think you’re okay to get started?” The dentist asked and you took a deep breath in and nodded your head before you could back out.
“Great, as I said just focus on your breathing the whole time and I’ll try get you out of here as quick as I can” he said which you appreciated.
You let out another shaky breath and tried to hold back tears as you really didn’t want to do this.
“You okay?” Harry asked and you nodded, tears filling your eyes. As soon as he asked you that, you couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
“Come here” he said coming over to hug you as you cried quietly into his shoulder.
“Aw darling, let me get you some tissues” Anne the nurse said when she noticed you crying.
“Talk to us, what are you most nervous about? Is there anything in particular we can do to help you?” She said coming over to you and handing you some tissues.
You thanked her and wiped away your tears. “Just all of it” you said and took a deep breath to try and compose yourself.
“Okay, how about you take a couple of minutes, have some water and we can take it from there? There’s no rush today y/n, take all the time you need. I’ll go and get you a bottle of water” Anne said placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder for comfort.
“We’ll look after you y/n, sit there for a few moments and we’ll start when you’re ready” the dentist said and you thanked him.
You sat with Harry for a few minutes, sipping on the water as he comforted you and hyped you up to get the tooth taken out.
“How are you feeling now?” The dentist said as he came to face you.
“A bit better now thank you, sorry I don’t know what that was I just got overwhelmed” you felt you had to apologise for your earlier emotional outburst.
“Don’t apologise, I don’t want you being upset. Do you feel as though you would be ready to start? It will only take 30 minutes max I promise” the dentist said to you and you looked to Harry who was crouching down by the dental chair.
“You can do this” he encouraged and you took a deep breath and nodded, allowing them to start the procedure.
The procedure actually went better than you thought with the teeth being removed in under 30 minutes. Harry was constantly by your side, rubbing and kissing your hand both as you were getting the injections to numb you and as the teeth were coming out. You were certain without him being there, you wouldn’t have been able to have gotten through it.
You were so relieved when the chair was being brought back up and you saw Harry smiling proudly at you.
“Well done my love, it’s all over with now. Just keep biting on that gauze for me” Anne said.
“You did really well y/n, especially considering how nervous you were. It was a straightforward procedure and the good news is the recovery time is only about a week” the dentist told you.
“I’ll go over some aftercare instructions with you but I’ll give you a leaflet also as I know it can be a lot to take in" The next few moments consisted of the dentist telling you how to look after the extraction sites and things to do and what not to do, not that you were taking it in as you were just relieved it was over and still in a bit of shock of what had just happened but nodded your head in agreement.
“Great. You’re free to go and as I said, if you have any issues, just give us a call”
Harry helped you to your feet and hold on to you as he steadied as you walked back to the car. Although you weren’t put under anaesthesia, you were numb, in shock and overall it was a slightly traumatic experience.
He helped you into the car before jumping round to the driver's side. "How you feeling?" he asked but he already knew the answer.
You rested your head against the window "Like crap" you were numb, certain you were starting to swell and tired from what you had went through.
"You did really well babe, I'm so proud of you. Let's go get a milkshake and we can go home" he said leaning over and placing a kiss on your head.
Within 30 minutes, you were back home in bed with Harry, with your milkshake and a spoon (Harry made sure you didn't use a straw as directed by the dentist) watching Netflix.
Watching 'The Night Agent' on Netflix, you felt your eyes closing as you fell asleep to the sound of the show.
It was the intense pain that eventually woke you up. You groaned as you opened your eyes "you okay y/n?" you heard Harry's voice ask you.
"It hurts" you told him, rubbing your eyes. He got out of bed and headed to the bathroom where he returned with a glass of water and some pain meds you had been prescribed.
"Take these love, it should help with the pain. The dentist said you'd start to feel something after about 4 hours"
"I've been asleep for 4 hours?!"
Harry laughed "You looked so peaceful, I didn't want to wake you. Plus you probably needed the sleep after this morning"
"You fancy some soup? You'll be starving no doubt" he asked you as you took the painkillers.
You heard your stomach grumbled so agreed to some soup. "Yes please"
He made you some soup and sat in bed with you while you ate it before he ran you a bath. "I'm gonna go get you some ice babe, you're starting to swell" Harry said after your bath while you two were cuddling on the couch that night.
You looked at yourself in the mirror and you literally resembled Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks. "Fuck" you muttered as Harry walked back through "Caught a glimpse of yourself?" he laughed as he handed you the ice pack.
"I look like a chipmunk Harry"
"You're a very cute little chipmunk though. The dentist said the swelling was normal for a day or 2 so you'll be my little chipmunk for the next few days"
"I wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying about aftercare. I'll need to phone tomorrow and ask" You told Harry as you couldn't remember a thing they had told you.
"Luckily for you, you have the best boyfriend in the world who took notes" he said showing you his phone with a list of bullet pointed instructions. "Don't worry about it, I'll look after you babe" Harry said kissing your slightly swollen cheeks.
You smiled at him. You were so lucky to have someone as kind and thoughtful as Harry in your life.

wisdom teeth
pairing: vada cavell x reader
summary: in which vada gets her wisdom teeth out and you're subjected to listen to her babbling
warnings: mentions/talks of sex (character 18+)
word count: 1000+
Tumblr media
Peace and quiet was something that was often lost on you whenever you were in Vada’s presence, your girlfriend’s ramblings and blabber always filling the silent void if there was one to begin with. It was rare that you could hang out with her and not hear her talk for hours on end about whatever came to her mind, even if you didn’t particularly care to listen—not that you’d ever tell her that, because you knew she’d be upset, and you liked hearing her talk, anyway; actually listening was just different.
Somehow, although you really should’ve expected it, you got no reprieve when you offered to drive Vada home from her dentist appointment after getting her wisdom teeth removed. Part of you had thought that she would be too groggy from the anesthesia to do anything more than sleep in the passenger’s seat, while the other part of you thought that her mouth would be too stuffed with gauze for her to talk. Either way, you had initially believed that your time spent with post-surgery Vada would be blissfully silent.
Oh, how wrong you were.
“Vads, come on,” you groaned. “You have to get in the car.” Currently, the brunette was refusing to sit down, instead choosing to flail her arms around in what you believed was an attempt to fight you away. It was, obviously, hilariously failing.
“No!” she shouted, though her words were muffled a bit by the copious amounts of gauze in her mouth, keeping her from bleeding and drooling all over herself. “Stop touchin’ me! I have a girlfriend!”
You froze for a moment, staring at the girl, and then you burst into laughter. You knew that her mind would be a little…gone, because of the anesthesia, but you hadn’t been expecting it to be like this.
“Vada,” you said, “I am your girlfriend.”
Vada stared at you for a moment, her eyes narrowed in suspicion, and then she lit up with excitement and offered you a toothy grin, which was a little bloody. “You are my girlfriend!”
You chuckled. “I know I am. Now, will you get in the car, please?”
She nodded fervently and dropped into her seat, making sure to pull all her limbs in so that you wouldn’t shut the door on her. You bent down, clicking her seatbelt into place, and on your way back up, Vada tried to pull you in for a kiss. It was easy to avoid, however, and her lips landed on your cheek.
She pouted up at you, clearly confused as to why you wouldn’t kiss her. “You can’t kiss with your gauze,” you said, which was half-true. The other half of your avoidance was that you didn’t want her mouth-blood anywhere near you. “Once we get home and take it out, and we get you cleaned up, then I’ll kiss you, okay?” you promised. She nodded solemnly.
You shut the door and rounded the car to get into your own seat. When you were settled, you pulled out your phone, plugged it into the aux cord, and played the playlist that you and Vada had made together softly over the speakers.
You glanced at her. “This good?” you asked, referring to the music.
“I don’t care,” she said brashly. “Let’s go home so we can kiss.”
You bit back a smile. “Okay, babe. We’re going right now.”
* * *
You were halfway to Vada’s house when the nonsense-talk started.
“Can we have sex when we get home?” she asked innocently.
In your surprise, you pressed on the brake a little too hard as you pulled to a stop at a red light, jolting both you and Vada forward slightly. “No,” you said.
“Why not?”
“Because you need to rest, Vads. Plus, your mom and Amelia are going to be home.”
“That’s never stopped us before.” You blushed to your ears at the thought and stepped on the gas pedal when the light turned green. “Besides, who needs rest when we could fuck?”
“Vada!” you hissed, glancing at the girl. She didn’t seem to realize that her words were a little out of pocket, grumbling something about ‘dying from lack of pussy,’ as if the two of you didn’t have sex literally the night before.
You were able to scratch by with a few more minutes of quiet, humming along to the music that was playing, before Vada cut into it again, another question racing to slip past her lips.
“If I buy a cowboy hat, and wear it around daily, would you say that I’m a cowboy?”
You tilted your head at the question. “Why? Are you planning on doing that?”
She shrugged. “That depends. Would I be a cowboy?”
“I guess.” You bit at the inside of your cheek, thinking. “But, I think you might need the boots, too, and, like, a horse?”
Vada huffed. “But if you saw me walking around with a cowboy hat on, your first thought would probably be ‘cowboy’, right?
“Probably,” you answered, thinking that the conversation would be over the sooner you gave into it.
“And you’re all for letting animals have freedom, aren’t you?”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Uh, yeah.” Your eyes flitted toward her in suspicion. “Where are you going with this, Vads?”
She giggled a little, and then coughed violently. “Sorry, choked on spit ‘cause of the gauze.” Vada cleared her throat to the best of her ability before saying, “So if I’m a cowboy, and you like free animals, then would you save a horse and ride this cowboy?”
If you weren’t driving, you would’ve slapped her across the back of the head. Instead, you settled for heaving out a sigh and shaking your head. “That was terrible,” you confessed.
Vada frowned. “Rude.”
“Sorry, babe, but it’s true.”
She mumbled something you couldn’t hear and then said, “You didn’t answer the question, though.”
You pulled into her driveway, parking the car and turning to her. “I pray you never have to be given anesthesia again,” you muttered beneath your breath.
Vada looked at you. “What?”
You laughed at the sight. Her cheeks were blown out like a chipmunk because of the gauze, and when she spoke it looked like she was stuck in the middle of a yawn. There was some drool on the corners of her lips, and some on her shirt, and yet…
“Yes, Vads. I would ride this cowboy.”

➪the one where you get your wisdom teeth removed and bradley takes care of you.
Warnings: fluff, mentions of a bad past dental experience, mentions of teeth being removed...because, you know, mentions of blood, anesthesia, use of an iv, mentions of not eating properly, reader is going through it, bradley being the best boyfriend ever, literally wrote this because i just had three of my wisdom teeth removed and needed some comfort
Word Count: 5.3k
Do not repost this anywhere, reblogs are fine ♡
You were nervously chewing on your bottom lip as you glanced up at the sign of the best dental office in San Diego. As you read over the sign a couple of times, Bradley reached over from his place behind the wheel and grabbed your hand. “How are you feeling?”
Tearing your eyes off the logo that resembled a tooth, you give him a weary smile. “I’m nervous,” you state the obvious in a quiet voice.
Bradley raised your hand and pressed a soft kiss to the back of it before rubbing soothing circles on your knuckles with his thumb. “You’re going to be fine, pretty girl,” he said in hopes to provide you with some much needed comfort. “I’m going to be waiting right here when it’s over, and then we’ll go home and I’ll cater to your every need.”
You give him another smile and lean over to press a chaste kiss to his lips. “I like the sound of that,” you murmur and he smiles back before placing another quick kiss to your mouth.
“Do you want me to go in with you?” He asks when he saw you reach for the handle.
“Please,”
And with that one word Bradley was hopping out of the Bronco and grabbing your hand as you both walked up to the door. He could feel just how tense you were and he wished there was something he could do to ease your nerves, even a little bit. He knew there was nothing he could say or do to help you, as having anything done to your mouth, from a filling to a simple clean, made you beyond nervous.
You had never liked the dentist, ever since you were a kid and they had to hold you down while extracting a tooth that was no good. They hadn’t given you enough freezing for it to numb properly, so you felt pretty much everything. Safe to say you never went back to that dentist office.
Maybe that was why you had waited so long to make an appointment to have your wisdom teeth removed. You were told back when you were twenty one that you should get them extracted as soon as possible, but that was ten years ago, and you still hadn’t booked the appointment.
You were fine, for the most part, up until a few weeks ago. You were barely able to chew tough foods because your gums ached beyond words, and you had resorted to drinking shakes to get you through the day. That was fine, until Bradley noticed you had lost a concerning amount of weight due to the lack of actual food you were getting into your body.
He went ahead and booked the appointment for you pretty much instantly after that. He had to sweet talk the lady on the other line, who was insisting that it should be you who was making the appointment, but she eventually gave in when he told her about your fear of the dentist.
Bradley still wasn’t sure how he had gotten away with that, but he was grateful nonetheless, even if you didn’t talk to him for the rest of the day after he informed you of your upcoming extractions.
While you were upset and scared, you were also glad you would be able to go back to eating solid foods in about a week after today.
That positive still didn’t help tune out all the negatives you were feeling.
As you walked up to the front desk of the office, you didn’t loosen your hold on Bradley’s hand once, not even when the lady behind the desk handed you a clipboard with papers you needed to sign since this was your first time in this office.
You both sat in the waiting room, and you were shaking so badly you were afraid your writing was so messy that you’d have to ask for a new page. With a nervous glance up at your boyfriend, he just pressed a kiss to the side of your head and took the clipboard from you, filling out your information for you. Most he knew off by heart, thankfully, and he handed it back to you so you could scribble down your signature at the bottom of the page.
It was only a few minutes after he handed the board back to the lady when your name was called. Bradley could tell that you were beginning to freak out once again, so he took your hand and walked with you over to where the procedure will be done.
“You’re going to be fine,” he assured you, his hands tilting your head up so he could press a soft kiss to your lips. “It’ll take an hour at the most, and then we’ll be back home.”
You just nodded and allowed him to kiss your forehead. “I love you,”
“I love you, too,” and he watched as you were guided into the room by the assistant.
You hesitantly sat down on the chair and kept your eyes on the blank wall in front of you. Off to your left were various paintings, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look over at them, despite them probably being there to calm down the patients. You were so nervous, you couldn’t even voice your opinions on the decor of the waiting room. This was by far the most elegant dentist office you had ever seen in your life.
The assistant took a seat next to you and began wiping down your forearm, and you began mentally preparing yourself for the eventual puncture of the IV. “How are we doing?” She asked softly. “Are you nervous?”
You give her a tight smile as she tosses the wipe into the trash can. “Is it that obvious?”
“Only a little bit,” she teased as the Doctor came in. “Your boyfriend mentioned that you have had some pretty tough times in the past regarding previous procedures. I want you to know that you have nothing to be afraid of. It’ll be over before you know it.”
You nod at her as the Doctor gently picked up the IV. “Hi, Y/n,” he smiled at you. “I’m Doctor Brown.”
“Hi,” you nearly whisper back.
He asked you the standard questions, like; are you taking any medication currently, are you a smoker, is there a chance you’re pregnant, when was the last time you had something to eat or drink. All that fun stuff you were barely able to answer.
“I’m going to insert the IV now, okay?” He asked and waited until you gave him verbal consent before gently piercing your skin with the needle. He looked at the fluid bag before sitting down on the other side of you and grabbing gloves. “I hear this is your first time with us, is that correct?”
You nod as he adjusts the chair so you are laying back. “It is,”
“And you have a reliable ride home?”
You nod again. “Yeah, my boyfriend,” you answer, wondering when exactly you were supposed to start feeling sleepy.
The assistant, whose name tag read Alia Clark, grabbed her own gloves as she asked, “What does your boyfriend do?”
“He’s in the navy,” you mumble with a small smile. “He’s an aviator.”
“Oh, wow,” she replied and smiled down at you before checking over your chart. “And what is his name?”
For some reason, that took you a bit longer to answer as you felt your eyes begin to feel heavy. “Bradley,” you were finally able to say. “His name is Bradley, but he also goes by his call sign, Rooster.”
“Rooster, huh?” Doctor Brown hums and you were only able to nod as you felt your eyes close.
“Don’t worry, Y/n,” you hear Alia say. “You will be back with Bradley, or Rooster, in no time.”
And that was all the assurance you needed before you let yourself fall asleep.
-
Bradley wishes he was able to stay in the room with you, but he knew he couldn’t, so he finally made his way back out to the Bronco once he saw the Doctor enter your room.
Once he was back behind the wheel, he sighed as he had an hour of time to kill.
He had taken the week off work, after informing Mav of your fear of the dentist. The older man seemed to have taken pity on you as he had no problem letting Bradley skip this week to look after you.
As he began to wait, he pulled out his phone and typed a quick message to you, knowing you wouldn’t see it or read it until you were back home. You told him beforehand to take your phone away from you until the effects of the IV wore off completely, nervous that you would embarrass yourself if you were to go on it in your drug induced haze.
After typing out a sappy little message, Bradley ended it with a simple red heart before sending it, hearing the buzz of your phone from where it was on the center console.
He debated on whether or not he wanted to stay in the parking lot the whole time, or run out to the store to get some things that would help make the next few days easier for you.
He reluctantly chose the second option, as he knew you wouldn’t want him to leave your side once you were back home.
Bradley drove to the nearest store and bought a few packs of pudding, apple sauce, ginger ale, yogurt and even some more of those shakes you had been living off of, something he was still mad about as he hated the way you turned to practically starving yourself to avoid this appointment, before stopping by the pharmacy to pick up more painkillers.
He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t the smallest bit excited to be the one taking care of you. Usually it was the other way around, with you being the one to look after him every time he returned home from his deployments. Whether that be with making him his favorite foods, giving him some much needed massages or simply just laying with him in bed for a few hours, it all made the welcome home much nicer than it would have been if he was still living alone and single.
This time he got to be the one to look after you, and he couldn’t wait to cater to your every need. He couldn’t wait to spend the whole week with you, even though you would most likely be miserable and uncomfortable due to the pain in your mouth. Still, he would do his best to make things better for you.
Your surgery should be over soon, so with twenty minutes left on the timer he set for himself on his phone, he drove back to the dental office and was back to waiting for you.
He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to go in and wait for you inside, or if they’ll call him to come walk you out, but he decided to go in a bit early, anyway, and wait for you in the waiting room.
Bradley remembered when he got his wisdom teeth removed, back when he was still a teen. He remembered just how uncomfortable he was during the recovery days, and how he didn’t really have anyone to look after him. He got his aunt to drive him there and home, and she stayed with him for a few hours after the surgery, but eventually had to return to her own home.
He had to stick to sucking on popsicles and protein shakes until he was feeling well enough to go back to eating normal food.
He was completely on his own back then, and he’d make sure that wasn’t the case with you.
A few minutes go by, and when he heard the assistant call his name, he paused the latest newscast that he was watching on his phone and pocketed it before standing up. “How is she?” He asked as Alia getsured for the lady behind the desk to ring up the receipt. “How’d it go?”
Alia smiled at his multiple questions as she watched him insert his credit card into the machine. “It went well,” she answered and gave him another smile when he slipped the card back into his wallet and took the receipt from the receptionist. “She’s just resting now, but is able to go home since most of the anesthesia has worn off.”
He nodded and followed her back to where you were. She stepped aside as he entered the room and found you still laying on the chair, your eyes barely open as you stared blankly at the TV that was hung from the ceiling. “Hi, pretty girl,”
At the sound of your boyfriend’s voice, you look over and tear up. “I don’t look pretty right now,” you mumble and try to avoid moving the cotton pads that were stuck to either side of your mouth.
Bradley hushed you and quickly walked around the chair so he could press his lips to your forehead. Your mouth and cheeks were swollen, and he could see a bit of blood on your bottom lip, but other than that, he still thought you were the prettiest girl he had ever seen. “You do,” he said and grabbed your hand when you reached it out to him, careful to not touch the bandage from where the IV was inserted. “Mouth full of gauze and all.”
“You’re Rooster, I’m assuming?” Doctor Brown asked as he held a few pages of paper in his hand.
“She told you my call sign, huh?” Bradley shook his head while you avoided eye contact with him and instead decided to stare at the wall.
“She was the perfect patient,”
Bradley looked over at you and gently rubbed circles on the back of your hand with his thumb. “I believe it,”
Doctor Brown went over what exactly he and Alia did to you, before handing him a small bag that held antibiotics inside. The whole time you remained silent as you tried not to cry in front of the Doctor and assistant, squeezing Bradley’s hand whenever you felt the pain beginning to form.
“She should be okay now,” the Doctor finished with a smile at the two of you. “There should be no more pain from having them in. If there is still a bit of discomfort after about two weeks, come back in and we’ll check up on the healing process.”
“Sounds good,” Bradley answered and gently pulled you up from the chair. “Thank you.”
“Thank you,” you mutter as he guides you back towards the exit, with him carrying most of your body weight. He led you back out to the Bronco and helped put your seatbelt on before he was getting in on the drivers side.
“I know this will be hard for you to do,” he began, checking you over once more before putting the car in reverse and beginning to back out of the parking space. He puts his right hand on the back of your headrest and gives you a teasing smile before continuing, “But I looked it up and Google says you shouldn’t talk too much. It might interrupt the healing process.”
Despite him really wanting to hear all the odd things you’d say in your daze, he didn’t want you paying the price later by having a sore throat.
You send him a dirty look and raise your brow, as if to say, really?
He just winks at you after taking off his aviators and reaching over to gently place them over your eyes, sacrificing his own in hopes you would appreciate the gesture since you had forgotten your own during your rush to leave this morning. It was nearing the afternoon, so the sun was shining down on the both of you, but he would deal with it to make you more comfortable.
He was right about you appreciating it, as you give him a closed mouth smile, your cheeks puffed out due to the gauze. “Tell you what,” he says as he pulls out onto the main road, his right hand instinctively reaching over to trace random shapes onto the skin of your thigh. He keeps his left one on the wheel as he glances over at you, seeing your eyes already on him from behind the glasses. “Once we get home and you rest for a few hours, maybe we can go out and get milkshakes if you’re feeling up to it. Might help with the soreness.”
You instantly perk up at that and nod, grabbing his hand and bringing it up to your mouth. Bradley held back a laugh at your attempt to kiss the back of his hand, your lips clearly still numb as you couldn’t seem to get them to move properly.
He just gave you a grin when you looked over at him in defeat.
-
The swelling had gotten worse as the time went on, and your throat was dry beyond words. Bradley had guided you towards the couch as soon as you got home, flipping the TV onto one of your favorite shows and making sure you were comfortable before he was leaving to tidy up the small mess you had made in the bedroom a few hours earlier, when you couldn’t decide what to wear and had thrown multiple articles of clothing onto the floor.
Within minutes he was back at your side, your head resting on his lap as you stared at the screen of the TV. Bradley ran his fingers through your hair as you both watched the show, listening to your uneven breaths as you fought back grunts of pain.
He looked down and gently held your chin in between his fingers, squinting down at you as you opened your mouth. “I think it might be time to change the gauze, baby,” he murmurs and you wince in at the thought of seeing the bloody cotton leave your mouth.
Bradley gently sits you up before reaching over and grabbing the bag from the dentist and pulling out a fresh set of gauze.
After damping them with water, he sets them aside before mumbling a quiet, “Come here,” and he watches as you lean towards him and slowly open your mouth. Bradley caresses your jaw with one hand and uses the other to slowly pull out the bloodied gauze. He does it one by one, murmuring a soft, “I’m sorry,” when he sees the tears form in your eyes. He places both pieces of gauze on the palm of his hand before handing you the clean ones.
He sits with you until you’ve successfully placed the new cotton into your mouth, and then stands up to throw away the blood filled ones.
Once Bradley returns back to the living room, you move over and give him space to sit down before laying your head in his lap again and trying to focus on the show instead of the throbbing in your mouth.
With your head still feeling fuzzy and the feeling of your boyfriend’s fingers running through your hair again, you give yourself a bit of relief and fall asleep.
When you woke up alone a few hours later, you noticed that Bradley had left the TV on and had also put your phone on the coffee table beside you. You could hear him doing something in the kitchen as you reached for it, and knowing him, he was probably making something to eat as his stomach was like a bottomless pit.
You sat up with a groan, still a bit groggy from the anesthesia, and unlocked your phone. Instantly, you were met with a couple of texts from your friends and family, and you smiled as you read them.
Mom: I heard from Bradley that it went well and you’re resting now. Call me when you’re feeling up to it. Love you x
Nat: I told you that there was nothing to be scared of. Have fun being stuck with Rooster for a week ;) Text me when you can!
But the one that had you smiling a little bit more was the one from Bradley.
Bradley ♡: I love you, pretty girl. I promise I will be there with you as soon as it’s done. I’m all yours for the next week, and after that.
You send him a heart emoji back, then realize that the gauzes are all soggy in your mouth, and you once again had to hold back a gag as you leaned over to put your phone back down.
When you bite too hard down on your cheek through the cotton, you wince and accidentally drop your phone onto the floor. It landed on the rug with a thud, and you heard the sounds coming from the kitchen stop.
Seconds later Bradley was standing in the doorway to the living room, a cloth in his hands and he was still chewing something as he asked, “Are you okay?”
You give him a thumbs up before pointing down at your phone.
He looks at it and shakes his head as he tosses the cloth back into the kitchen to find later, before crossing the room and picking up the device. “I knew giving you back your phone would be a bad idea,” he teased as he sat down next to you and gently ran his fingers along your still swollen jaw. “How are you feeling?”
You shrugged and blinked away the remaining sleep from your eyes. “Dry,” you said and wince at how raspy your voice sounded.
Bradley nodded, murmuring a quiet, “Okay,” as he pressed a kiss to the side of your head. “Do you feel like trying to drink something?”
You look up at him with a small smile. “Milkshake?”
He laughs and kisses your forehead. “We can go get milkshakes,” he says as he gently tugs on your lower lip with his thumb. “But first we need to change those again.”
You groan as he helps remove the stained gauze from your mouth again and wonder how he wasn’t grossed out by holding them in his hand. You supposed he’s seen and done worse, and he’s not exactly new to having your saliva on him.
He uses his free hand to grasp your chin between his fingers and tilts your head so the lamp next to the couch was able to shine somewhat into your mouth. “It doesn’t seem to be bleeding much right now,” he hums and stands up to toss the gauze away. “Do you want to see how it goes without them for a bit? Just until you get something into you. If it starts to bleed again after the shakes, I’ll help you put new ones in.”
You agree instantly, happy to be rid of the uncomfortable cotton for at least a little while. After he throws the used gauze out, he returns back to the living room with his keys and phone in one of his hands, the other free for you to hold as he held it out to you.
He pulls you off the couch and guides you back out to the Bronco, making sure to grab the bag that holds the gauze and meds that you would need to take afterwards. He knew it would be an early night as the medicine would most likely make you sleepy again, and that was why he waited until it was nearing eight before taking you out for milkshakes, so you could go back home and go to bed at a reasonable time.
Bradley couldn’t do much for your discomfort, but he could sure as hell keep your sleep schedule on track.
You leaned your head against the window as he drove into town, your eyes hazy as you listened to his quiet humming of the song that played on the radio. “I like your singing,” you murmur as you look at all the lit up shops that passed by. “You should do it more often.”
Bradley laughed from beside you as he pulled into the drive thru. “I sing all the time for you, baby,”
“I know,” you say and lift your head, looking over at him while he eyed all the flavors to choose from. “But I can never get enough of you, you know that.”
He lifted his hand and ran his knuckles along the bone of your cheek, admiring the way your pretty face looked in the dim lighting of the Bronco. “The feeling is mutual,” he grinned at you when you turned your head to place a kiss to the back of his hand. “What kind are you wanting to get?”
You hum as you lean over the center console, reading over the various flavors. “Strawberry,” you decide and run your nose along the sharp angle of his jaw. “Please.”
After ordering two shakes, and asking for a spoon, Bradley pulled into one of the many available parking spaces. He pulled off the lid of your shake and stuck the plastic spoon in it before handing it over to you.
He watched you carefully as he sipped on his own shake, holding back a laugh at how puffy your face is. Of course, you saw him shift out of the corner of your eye and turn to him with a raised brow. “Sorry,” he grinned and set his shake down in the cup holder. “You look like a chipmunk.”
You just shake your head at him and slurp on the spoon, waiting until the cold substance dripped down your throat before saying, “You’re laughing at me,” you state and hear him snort and cover his mouth. “I’m in pain and you’re laughing at me.”
That just made him laugh harder, and you found yourself smiling at the sound. “I’m sorry,” he says and reaches over to gently caress your swollen cheek. “You still look as hot as ever.”
You roll your eyes and bring another spoonful of the milkshake to your lips. “Liar,”
“I mean it,” he promised, running his fingers over your jaw in a feather light touch before pulling away. “You’re the sexiest chipmunk I’ve ever seen, baby.”
When you laugh loudly, you wince immediately after, and Bradley quickly decides that you’d most definitely be a lot more comfortable at home.
“Alright, I think we should get going. Are you okay to…eat that while I drive?” He asked as he sipped on his chocolate shake. You wave him off and take a much smaller amount on the spoon, knowing that Bradley would go off on you for spilling anything in his precious Bronco, but you also knew he’d wait until after you were feeling better. The thought had a warm feeling spreading all over your body, as did his next words, “Okay, we’ll head home. You should take one of the antibiotics, first.”
You agree, and he holds your shake as you take the pill into your mouth. After rummaging around in the back with his free hand, Bradley hands you a warm water bottle, and he puts a reminder in his head to put the bottle in the fridge once he got home.
“Okay?” He asked when you took back your milkshake.
You nodded and have him a half smile, “It’s probably going to make me tired,”
“I know, that’s a good thing. You should be pretty tired by the time we get back home, and then you can go to bed and sleep off a bit of the pain,” he pointed out as he put the Bronco in reverse. Before he actually started moving, he gave you a serious look. “Do not spill that shake, pretty girl.”
You laugh quietly and give him a side glance as you sipped a bit of the milkshake from the cup.
“I mean it, baby,” he was only half serious in his warning as he started the short ride back home, one hand on the wheel while his other one held his plastic cup. “That cute face will only get you so far.”
You just shake your head and lean over to press a kiss to his cheek that you couldn’t feel yourself do. Your lips were still numb, so you were really trying to be as careful as possible with not spilling your milkshake.
Luckily, you arrived back home without letting a drop hit a single spot in the interior of his Bronco, and Bradley gave you a chocolate tasting kiss as a reward as he led you back up to the house.
Once you were in your room, he helped dress you in one of his shirts and sweats. After concluding that the bleeding had stopped, he decided there was no need to shove move gauze into your mouth, as that would most likely make it start to bleed again.
He pulled back the covers and sat down next to you, smiling down at your emotionless face and tired eyes. “You doing okay?” He asked as he brushed away some of your hair.
“Yeah,” you mumbled, taking his hand in yours and trying to kiss it. He just grinned at your attempt. “Thank you for taking care of me.”
Bradley leaned down and kissed your forehead gently. “I always will, you know that,” you nodded as he pulled away and stood up. “Do you want an ice pack for the night? Might help with the swelling.”
After thinking about it, you nod and wait for him to return back into the room with the ice pack. He wrapped it in a dish towel and gently placed it against your jaw before stripping down into just his boxer briefs.
He settles down in bed behind you, hesitant to touch you at the moment in case you needed space. When you just laughed quietly and grabbed his hand so you could wrap his arm around your waist, he inched closer to you and allowed you to rest the ice pack between his shoulder and your jaw. He was glad he put the towel around it, but he also wouldn’t have minded having to feel it unwrapped against his bare shoulder. He’d suck it up for you.
“I love you, pretty girl,” he murmured and pressed a kiss to the top of your head.
“I love you,” you mumbled back, snuggling closer to him as the effects of the antibiotics began taking over your body.
As Bradley held you while you slept, he felt glad that he was the one you wanted to look after you. He loved you beyond words and he felt as though this was the beginning of his attempts to even out the balance in your relationship. It was you who constantly looked after him, and though he loved it, he also felt guilty that there weren’t many occasions where he was the one who looked after you.
After spending the day taking care of your every need and being the one person you wanted to see you vulnerable, he decided that after this he would put more effort into showing you how much he appreciated and adored you.
He was ready to move onto a new chapter in his life with you by his side, if the small box tucked away in his box of collectable cards was anything to go by.
All he had to do was hope you’d say yes.

I've been telling myself FOR YEARS that i need to rewatch twilight and i can't believe that your modern!eddie fic is what pushed me to do it. someone could write a fic about him taking care of his s/o after they get their wisdom teeth removed and that would convince me to finally make that appointment
“Babe,” Eddie smothered his grin behind a hand, watching with big, fond eyes as you struggled with the door handle. “Baby.”
You made a strangled sound, cheeks stuffed with cotton and your face still numb, your brain foggy from the drugs the dentist had coaxed you into taking. You hated the dentist.
But Eddie had held your hand the entire time, just like he’d promised, from when you’d made the call, to driving you there, in the waiting room, hand in his and leg bouncing, to the time the dentist tilted you back in the chair with a slow whirr.
And when it was time to sit up and spit, the boy held your hair back and dabbed at your poor, dry lips, frowning softly when he saw your dazed expression, your flushed cheeks and watery eyes.
“Y’okay, princess?” He’d whispered, watching you carefully as the dentist fussed with your painkiller prescription.
You’d nodded, trying your best to smile with your chipmunk cheeks, leaning closer to the boy until it was clear your perception of space was skewed. Your forehead butted against his cheek and Eddie had grinned when you mumbled “fuck, you’re really pretty.”
Now you were staring at his van door like it was a level on Crash Bandicoot that you hated. You had a furrow between you brow, a pout on your lips similar to the one you wore when you were trying to ‘make the stupid orange fox jump.’
“Eddie,” you whined, voice wavering. God, Eddie really hoped you weren’t about to cry. He hated it when you cried. “Eddie, the doors broken.”
The boy smothered another laugh, knowing the sound would probably send you over the edge. So he brought his keys out from his pocket, clicked the fob and watched the van lights flash.
“Try now, princess,” he coaxed gently. You pulled at the handle again, gasping excitedly when the door opened and you turned back to him, puffy cheeks and pleased at your accomplishment. “Atta’ girl,” Eddie praised.
You didn’t stop talking the whole way home, hell bent on making sure your hand stayed in Eddie’s, even when he needed to change gears or indicate. But every time the boy brought your hand to his lips for a quick press of a kiss, you hummed happily and forgot about prodding at your sore face, fingers dropping from your mouth to gaze at him all sleepy and fond.
When you were nearing your street, you gasped again, all panic and Eddie almost slammed on the breaks at the shock of it. “What? Shit, babe, what?”
“Did they take my tongue?” You asked, wide eyed and fearful. You dropped Eddie’s hand to poke at your mouth, tongue very much there and sticking out. “I specifically told them they weren’t allowed to take my tongue. Eddie!”
The boy managed to manoeuvre into your empty drive with one hand on the wheel, the other catching your wrist to stop you from pulling on your tongue. “Baby, baby, hey, nonono.”
Oh god, no, you were crying.
“Hey! Hey, sweetheart, look, no, you still have your tongue, okay? See?” Eddie gently took his chin in his hands once he put the van into park, coaxing your lips apart as if he was inspecting what was inside. “Yup, just like I said. Still there. One tongue, still attached.”
You sniffed, lip wobbling, chipmunk cheeks making you look entirely too adorable. Eddie was trying so, so hard not to laugh.
“It is?” You asked breathily. Another sniffle, a trembling chin.
“It is,” Eddie assured you. “Promise.”

Hey! Would you like to write one for Charles where he can't drive his normal car (for whatever reason), so he asks the reader for help, but she's kind of nervous and thinks there will be some judging? 😅
Bad Tooth
Summary: A dentist appointment and a ride home.
Hope you’ll enjoy this part. Let me know in the comments section! And to support me by tipping me!
Little information, I will, for now, only post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Thank you, and Enjoy! :)
Lots of love, xxx Spicy Clover
Tumblr media
If there's one thing Charles doesn't like, it is the dentist. He hates it. Even as a child, he would do anything to not go. But after spending a week with an abominable toothache, he is unfortunately forced to.
To be honest, you forced him. You couldn’t take off his complaints anymore, all day, and after treating him like a baby so he’d understand, he finally made an appointment.
So that’s why you find yourself in the dentist’s parking lot arguing for Charles to get out of the car.
"Charles, please can we get out?"
"No, I feel way better now."
"That's a lie. You know it. I know it. Everybody knows it. Do I have to take you by the hand like the child you are?" He evaluates your proposition before saying anything else.
"That's not fair," he wines before getting out of the car, acting like the child he is.
You chuckle a bit before following his step to the dentist's office. You waited for a few minutes before the dentist was ready to see Charles. Before going, he looks at you with puppy eyes, imploring you to say something. But you just rolled your eyes and pushed him to the man.
The appointment took longer than expected, and you start to worry. You go up to the receptionist and ask for an update.
"Hi, sorry to bother you, but do you know what going on with M.Leclerc?"
"Give me a minute," You wait by the desk while she goes behind. You’re wondering if what he’s got is worse than you thought. "Thank you for waiting, so Mr. Leclerc is currently under anesthesia, and the dentist is removing two wisdom teeth. The surgery should end in five minutes, and then you can go home."
"Wisdom teeth?"
"Yes, apparently it was quite bad. The doctor will get to you soon."
You thank her and get back to your seat. "So he wasn't pretending... Oops." You might have thought he was lying when he started complaining about it, and you guessed it was one of his many schemes to get your attention. "Well, we can all be wrong sometimes."
The dentist comes to get you several minutes later, and you're now allowed to see Charles. You walk into the room, and you see him totally buzzed out. He's so high right now, and his mouth is like ten times his normal size, and you can't help but laugh a bit.
You take your phone out and capture this unique moment of Charles looking like a squirrel being high on drugs.
"No... no pic... pict... pictures," he mumbles while drooling.
"Sorry, baby, but the others won't believe me if I don't."
"Ha... hate... hate you."
"No, you don't, you love me, and now your teeth won't hurt anymore." You laugh, trying to be positive.
"I lo... I loov live a squerrel.
"Yeah, you do. But I love my squerrel." You chuckle, kissing the top of his head.
"Hate... hate hich."
"Let's go home, baby."
The dentist gives you the last information for the few weeks to come, and you can't help but laugh at Charles's face when he tells him you couldn't eat solid food or make any physical effort for at least the first week. His look was priceless.
You tried to be compassionate, but Charles makes such a big deal when you get yours removed that you can't help but do the same. You texted the entire grid and his family, his face, for at least a few weeks. Was it a low move? Probably. Was it worth it? Totally.
You get back to the car, and Charles hands you his keys. You look at him for ten seconds before realizing he can't drive like this. Your eyes open wide, and you want to protest, but he shushes you. Well, not really, it’s more drool than anything, but you understand what he wants.
Your sight and get behind the wheel after setting Charles down. It's his time to laugh. You watch him set his seatbelt and hang on to the door while you start the Ferrari.
"It's not funny."
"Oh, ish funny," he gibberish, half joking, half whining by the pain. "Chart ye engine, bae."
You press the button, but nothing happens. You press it again, and nothing. You frustrated yourself, wishing you had taken your normal car.
"hress the hedal."
You start the car and press the pedal but nothing.
"Hress the hedal!"
"That's what am doing!" You say annoying.
"Hress the rite hepal."
You do as he says, and the engine finally goes on. You smile, looking at Charles, thinking it's now only a matter of going home, but no. You try to change the gear, and the car stalls. Charles giggles, completely high by his meds, while you start again and try to get to first gear.
It's gonna be a long ride, you start thinking. You're not even out of the parking, and it's already a nightmare. You complain about the car and look at Charles, who's entirely soon out.
You arrive at the parking doors and start going in the street. You're way lower than the permit limitation, and Charles encourages you to go faster. You're so nervous that you don't even realize you’re holding the wheel with all your might. How Charles trusts you enough with his car in this city?
"Ou doing reat, bae!" Says Charles putting his hand and yours.
It's only then, that you realize the grip you have on the wheel.
"reath." He inspires and exhales at the same time as you.
"I hate this!" You declare when another motorist cuts the road, making you almost have an accident.
You have to brake hard, which makes Charles tighten his teeth, and you know he’s in pain. You apologize to Charles and rant after all the cars you pass.
"God, you must hate me right now. I'm so sorry Cha."
"ish okay. Ou doing reat. Ust ocus on the road." He says, holding on for his life when you almost pass at a red.
"You must thing I drive terribly, but it's your car. Pretty sure something wrong with it." You say, finally pulling in the entry of the complex.
You park the car and finally exhale when the engine stop.
"I'm never doing this again. Next time, we're taking the bus."
Charles chuckles and takes your hand. He leans on you, and you walk to the elevator. Once home, Charles went to rest, and you spent the rest of the afternoon worrying that he might not trust you again with his car.
You prepared his dinner, and his drug wore off after his nap. He still looks like a squirrel, but at least he's not high anymore. You gave him his soup, and he frowns when he says your right hand completely eating up to the flesh.
"Baby. What happen?"
"What?"
"Your nails."
"It's nothing. I had an anxiety episode after we came home."
"Why?"
"Well, I almost killed us."
"What are you talking about?"
"Your car, Charles."
"Oh," he laughs. "You did truly amazing, amour. "I mean you need practice, but you did Wonderfull and we are here, and safe. You should have to wake me."
You smile and hug him tight. Even in your darkest days, he sees your potential and always encourages you to go beyond your limits. You don’t know what you did to deserve him, but you love him. You want to kiss him so badly, but that will wait until he recovers.
"I'm never going back to the dentist," complains Charles taking the pain killers. "It's the worst day of my life."
You laugh and give him the ice for his swollen cheek.
"Did you post the photos?"
"I did." You says, taking your phone out to show him.
It's only then you realize that you didn't send the photos to the group chat but to your Instagram story...

If anyone remembers/still cares about my bizarro jaw bone spur debacle from this summer, I have an update for you! I'm fine now, this is all past tense, but probably don't read this if you don't want to hear about dental/bone stuff.
So to recap, earlier this summer I felt some irritation in my mouth and when I checked it out in the mirror, there was a tiny little off-white shard of something sticking out of my gums on the inside of my lower molars. I figured it was a little piece of food that poked me, but when I touched it, it 1) was hard and sharp, 2) would not move, and 3) hurt so bad that it about knocked the wind out of me. Even in the moment I knew this sounded dramatic and highly improbable, but I was immediately Very Sure that it was a little shard of bone.
By the next morning it was so swollen that I couldn't see if it was still there, and after four or five days I ended up calling around and found a dentist who could get me in to take a look because my usual dentist at the student health center didn't have any immediate openings. By that point I was taking Tylenol + ibuprofen around the clock as well as using Orajel numbing gel and icing it, but nothing was touching the pain. Also, the side of my face and down into my neck was starting to swell, and sleeping and eating was extremely difficult due to the pain.
The dentist I ended up seeing was very friendly and pleasant but ultimately pretty dismissive. Nothing showed up on an X-ray but he could see a spot of "hyper-irritation" where I'd had the little shard, and he said it was possible that a "bone spur" worked its way out through my gums. Usually that only happens after oral surgery or an injury, but I'd also had a dental cleaning a few weeks prior that was weirdly aggressive and left that part of my gums bleeding and sore for several days, so it was possible that was enough to dislodge something left over from when I had my wisdom teeth removed years and years ago. Or maybe it was just a little cut. He then told me to alternate the Tylenol and ibuprofen instead of taking them simultaneously and to call back in two weeks if it wasn't better or if it started getting hard to eat or sleep. I reiterated that it already was hard to eat and sleep, and asked if I was understanding him correctly that he wanted me to take LESS pain medication. He paused, and then said to call back in one week if it wasn't better.
So obviously I went out to my car and cried. I have a very skewed pain tolerance from a lifetime of chronic illness experiences and I'm a very smiley and friendly person in general, so I do acknowledge that I don't usually LOOK like I'm in pain, especially to someone who's only just met me. But for me, the fact that I even made an appointment for it is a giveaway that this is like, off the charts levels of pain. I called my dad since he's a doctor and he was able to prescribe some antibiotics for me just in case, and walked me through how to adjust the ibuprofen dose to be the equivalent of prescription strength. I'd decided that if it wasn't any better by the next day, I was going to urgent care. Thankfully it was a smidge better, and over the next maybe two or three weeks it mostly went away, although for while I could still feel sort of a divot on my gum where the bone spur had been.
ANYWAY yesterday I had my regular dentist's visit, the first time I'd been in since then. I told the hygienist about it, and she seemed kind of alarmed, especially because she could also still feel the little spot on my gum. The dentist ALSO seemed pretty shocked and could feel where it was as well.
So here's the update: I apparently have a little bit of extra bone built up around my back lower molars, which is unusual but not unheard of, and mine is very very mild in comparison to what you see when you Google "mandibular tori" - mine is really just that it's slightly rounded or mildly bowed right below my molars rather than going straight down to the bottom of my mouth as is typical, minor enough that no dentists have ever mentioned it to me. I never even realized that wasn't what everyone's were like until this spring when a massage therapist I saw for TMJ stuff mentioned that she noticed it. So in general that's not any sort of issue for me, EXCEPT that the dentist yesterday said that the gum tissue can be pretty thin where it has to stretch over the extra bone, which can also be kind of pointy or sharp.
Given that plus the fact that I hadn't had any sort of recent injury or surgery in the area like you would expect for a bone spur, she said it was more likely that I somehow scraped or cut the gum right down to the bone.
It wasn't a bone spur. That was my literal, actual jaw bone showing through my gums.

I got this idea in my head with Family RoR x teen reader. Like the reader is going to get their wisdom teeth removed and the reader is nervous about how would the family calm them down. After the removal of the reader’s wisdom teeth and they are still sloppy from the Anastasia. How would the family act?
Another dentist request huh….
Tumblr media
-You had nearly made yourself sick leading up to your appointment to get your wisdom teeth taken out. You knew it had to be done as it was causing you a lot of pain here recently.
-Your family was supportive, doing what they could to help keep you calm, with not a lot of results. You had the first appointment of the day, since you had to fast and not eat anything since you were going to be put under, but you felt like you wouldn’t be able to eat anyway, your stomach churning nonstop.
-When you awoke, you were groggy and dizzy, feeling ice on your cheeks as you whined softly, looking around as you heard your doctor asking how you were feeling.
-You looked around, seeing Buddha, Nikola, and Raiden there, as they had told you when you went in that they would be there when you woke up.
-You looked at the doctor, confused, “Was I in an accident? Where am I?” he was understanding, knowing that you were loopy and confused, which he also told your family members there could happen.
-He gave you a small smile, “You just woke up from surgery Y/N- do you remember. We had to remove your wisdom teeth.”
-You immediately burst into tears, almost hysterical, “You stole my teeth?!” Raiden snorted in laughter as you looked up at Buddha with huge watery eyes, “He- he stole my teeth!” Buddha was trying so hard not to laugh, gently petting your hair, “He had to- they were hurting you.”
-Raiden, once he stopped laughing, had you in his arms, carrying you as you were glaring at the dentist, calling him a pirate, which just made the dentist laugh, as he’s been called worse.
-Nikola hugged you in the back seat of the car, “Are you hungry, Y/N?” you nodded, your head resting against his arm, “I want a big steak with extra steak on the side!”
-They laughed at your request as Nikola patted your head gently, “I can’t do anything about steak, you have to have soft foods for the next several days.”
-You sighed dramatically, nearly falling back if he hadn’t caught you, “You don’t love me!!” he tried not to laugh, but you were not making it easy before he spoke, “I do love you! You can have ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!”
-Your soft gasp silenced them all as more tears welled in your eyes, “Really?” he nodded and you were quickly bawling loudly again, “I love you guys so much!!”
-Most laughter filled the car but by the time you made it home, you were completely knocked out and slept off the rest of your anesthesia by the time everyone else made it home.
-Nikola kept his promise and let you have a big bowl of ice cream for lunch, along with your pain pills, things that you were happy to see.

Finger My Mouth by LouisThiccSexyGlitteryAss | E | 1515 Louis' dentist (and childhood crush) rides him on the orthodontic chair.
A+ Patient by YesIsAWorld | G | 1882 Harry hated everything about the dentist—the antiseptic smell and the bright light in his face and the disappointment in himself and the suction thingy that kept his mouth too dry. But the thing he hated the most was how in love with his dentist he was.
Working With Mouths. by kotabear24 | M | 2075 But, basically, Louis goes to a new dentist...who is Harry Styles.
The gas had a delayed effect(it's just the dentist's office) by AxWorldxAway | nr | 3832 "Got a bit of a laugh, eavesdropping in on my very personal conversation with myself, eh?" Louis pulled the straightest face he could, acting as stern as he could, and he almost pulled it off. That is, until he saw the way the boy paled dramatically and his eyes widened comically. He burst out laughing a second after the boy began rushing out a hasty apology. He couldn't stop laughing, doubling over from his place perched in the chair. The other boy began chuckling slightly along with him. Louis knew it wasn't that funny, but he had to keep his spirits high somehow; he was sitting in a dentist office after all. (Louis cracks his tooth and is forced to take a trip to the dentist. Harry just happens to be the attractive dental assistant to Louis' eccentric dentist.)
Brace Yourself by Kaname | nr | 4056 "Standing in the doorway, wearing the most garish pair of banana scrubs that Louis had ever had the misfortune of seeing, was the most bloody gorgeous man he'd ever laid his eyes on. His hair was twisted into a messy bun of shiny, perfect curls; his thick lips curled up into a playful smile while a set of sparkling green eyes read through his folder. 'Hope you’ve not had trouble "filling" the time before the appointment, then,” the hygienist mused, smirking down at the file in his hands. His muscular forearms were blissfully exposed, a white undershirt rolled up to the elbows while a set of long, elegant fingers flipped leisurely through Louis’ x-rays. “Not that I mean to "drill" you about what you do with your free time, but it would be awfully "root" not to ask.'" (Louis is a whiny arsehat who hates the dentist, and Harry is a hygientist with a pocket full of dental puns and a thing for petite men in poof-hats.)
always tell the truth by anditsonlyforthebrave | nr | 5027 Harry is Louis' dentist and getting a wisdom tooth removed shouldn't be the end of the world.
Tantrums and Toothaches by sagegreenharry | nr | 5159 Louis and Harry's daughters always loved their dentist appointments with Louis. While Harry was off to the side doing his deep breathing, the girls would be laughing in the chair with Louis as he cleaned their teeth. So, this time when Harry gets the text from Louis to bring himself and the girls to his office, and Eva turns pale as a ghost, Harry knows something must be up.
Beautiful smile by HESLWTLJPNJHZJM | G | 5297 Louis takes Doris to her dentist appointment where Harry just so happens to be the dentist. Shocker, I know.
You smile all the time ('cause how can you not show it?) by thebreadvan | E | 9500 Harry’s eyes unwillingly slip up to the doctor, scanning his features and the focused crinkle between his brows. His jaw looks sharp, especially when he clenches it, pearly teeth biting into his bottom lip. Harry admires the stubble growing on his cheeks, and the impressive cut of his cheekbones, and – the blush blooming from his cheeks down to his neck. Harry blinks away, hoping he hasn’t been caught staring or made the man uncomfortable, but Dr. Tomlinson clears his throat and his leg starts bouncing beside Harry’s chair. Harry looks up again, and finds his face twisted into an undecipherable grimace. “Uhm,” Dr. Tomlinson stammers, “Could you hold your tongue still for me?” Harry stops breathing when he realises. He is licking Dr. Tomlinson’s fingers. <<>><<>><<>> Or, Harry never liked dentists, until now.
