I had the idea to do this during my current rewatch thanks to @harmonictechnicality (who was very happy for me to post this) and then @al-ghoul sent me his timestamps so a HUGE thank you there!

Oh, and @faequeentitania has a supercut of all of Eddie's scenes (link is in their bio) so I didn’t add Eddie’s time stamps to this post

My original intention was to not post this until it was completely done, but I honestly don't have much energy right now, so there are only time stamps up to S04E05. But I do intend to finish it one day! (If anyone wants to help out with the remaining ones, that would be great.) You can also see where the formatting changes and that's where I stopped typing up my notes and just used what @al-ghoul sent me, but I do want to reformat it so it's uniform, and add in songs used for his scenes, but I just wanted to get this out there

Elizabeth Marie Munson née Hart was buried on the 2nd Sunday of May back in 1977, back when Eddie had only been eleven. It had been hard, not that death was ever an… easy thing mind you.

She’d been buried in Hawkins, as stated in the will that’d she’d put together (no matter if it had been written on hospital napkins or not it was followed just the same). Eddie’s custody had been a bit more complicated, as Al Munson had put up a bit of a fight in regards to Elizabeth’s wishes. She was adamant that Eddie go to Wayne, while Al didn’t care about what happened to him… as long as it went against what Elizabeth had wanted.

But no matter, because Eddie knew that Elizabeth loved him as much (if not more somehow) than Wayne did. And Eddie loved Wayne, honestly and wholeheartedly he did. But there was something missing from his life, and that was his mama.

Which, Eddie knows distantly, is what makes the day today as difficult to swallow as it does.

Because not only is it the day of his mama’s death but it’s also Mother’s Day.

And he can’t exactly fault anyone in his life for not being able to understand how he feels today. He really can’t bring himself to, even as he sits right in front of his mama’s gravestone- knees to his chest like he’s a little kid again. The rest of his odd found family has their parents, and so they just… they don’t fully understand what Eddie’s going through.

Not really anyway.

He knows they mean well, really he does. But no matter, because it’s hard and he already has a lot on his mind as it stands.

Eddie pauses and draws in a shaking breath, eyes wet and glossy with yet to shed tears, as he keeps his chin on his knees even as he hears a car door slam shut. It’s followed by several other ones, and Eddie doesn’t look behind him as he hears slowly measured footsteps behind him. He doesn’t turn, but he does speak.

“You don’t have to be here, Harrington.”

“Not Harrington, son.” It’s Hopper’s voice that makes Eddie finally turn, and he’s greeted to the sight of the older man- holding a bouquet of pink tulips wrapped in cellophane. Hopper’s in one of his nice shirts, one of the ones that Eddie knows that Joyce forced him in.

“What are you doing here?” Eddie manages to croak out, and the corner of Hopper’s lip twitches slightly- before he gestures with his head back to the parking lot.

“If you think you’re alone today, kiddo, you really got another thing coming.”

Eddie turns his head slightly to look past Hopper, and he can’t help the choked gasp that manages to make its way out of his throat. The entire group is there, all the way from The Party down to even the Corroded Coffin boys. Everyone in their crisp Sunday best (or as close to it anyway) with bright bouquets of pink tulips held between their hands.

Eddie turns again to look at Hopper, and can’t get out any words as he watches as Hopper is joined by Steve Harrington. Eddie has never quite been able to figure out Steve (no matter how much he tries), but he never…

“Hey ma’am,” Steve isn’t even looking at Eddie though, instead focused quite intently on the area behind Eddie… and oh.

Oh.

“I’ve had the pleasure of being one of your son’s friends this past year,” Steve carefully speaks as he moves closer until he’s next to Eddie, before he sits down- not minding getting dirt and grass on his pants. “And we all missed this last year but we figured… well we couldn’t let him come down here and mourn you alone.”

“Stevie-” Eddie tries, and Steve says nothing as he reaches a blind hand out- before he entwines his fingers with Eddie’s. Eddie sniffles again, even as Steve presses the tulips as close to the grave as he can.

“Your son matters to so many people, Ms. Hart, I mean that genuinely and honestly.” Steve keeps going, as if Eddie had said nothing. Eddie tries to keep the tears at bay, holding onto Steve’s hand as if it’s a lifeline. “And I didn’t know how to really show that… but I figured this might help a bit.”

Eddie is confused for just a split second, before he hears Jim Hopper clear his throat- before he then speaks.

“Ma’am, I know that your son has made a safety net for my daughter in the times where I couldn’t. I know that she loves him, truly, and for that I’m a bit more than grateful towards you.” Hopper then clears his throat, before he carefully steps around them- and sets his bouquet of tulips right next to the ones that Steve had put down.

Hopper curls a hand around Steve’s shoulder and bends to whisper something into his ear, and Eddie focuses on blinking back his tears as the man turns and walks away.

It’s silent for a minute, before it continues again.

“Hi Ms. Hart, Eddie’s told me a load about you and he was my first friend here in Hawkins and I just want to let you know we… we haven’t forgot about you.” Gareth’s voice is next, and Eddie lets out another sniffle as he sets a bouquet down. He doesn’t leave though, and instead sits right next to Eddie- taking the hand that Steve isn’t holding.

“Hi ma’am, Eddie hasn’t told me much about you… but I think you’d like the man he turned out to be, and from one mom to another? I’m keeping an eye on him for you.” Joyce. Another bouquet.

“He’s like really cool and taught us so much about this game we play, Dungeons and Dragons and I’m not sure if you knew what that was but it’s like this role playing-” Dustin. Another bouquet.

“He’s like my brother-” Jeff. Another bouquet.

“He’s like my son-” Wayne. Another bouquet. And a firm hand on a shoulder that never leaves.

“You’re someone he talks about whenever I need him to and that means a lot-” Max. Another set of flowers. A kiss against the top of Eddie’s head.

“He’s a good kid and you had to have been like an amazing mom for him to turn out the way he did because let me tell you-” Robin. Another bouquet.

“My dad says I’m allowed to choose my family and I chose Eddie, and from what he’s told me… you were a good mama.” Eleven sniffles softly as she presses her flowers into the ever-growing pile at the base of the gravestone. Eddie reaches out a touches the back of her leg- and it’s enough for the girl to launch herself into Eddie’s arms.

They stay like that. No one questions it.

“From his stories you sound really interesting and I think my mom and-” Mike. Another bouquet.

“Hello ma’am-” Lucas. Another bouquet.

“He’s kind of a nerd but-” Erica. Another bouquet.

“He’s a really good friend, Ms. Hart. Like there’s not a lot of them out in the world, and Eddie’s a good one.” Freak. Another bouquet.

“You and Wayne raised him right and I hope that wherever you are-” Nancy. Another bouquet.

“From what he’s-” Jonathan. Another bouquet.

“Ms. Dudette he’s so-” Argyle. Another bouquet.

“He’s one of my brothers. And that’s all there is to it, and I’m so sad we couldn’t meet and I couldn’t tell you this in person-” Will. Another bouquet.

In the end, Elizabeth Marie Munson née Hart has nineteen bouquets of pink tulips surrounding her grave. In the end, she and her son are completely and wholly surrounded by people that may not have known her— but they love her just the same.

Eddie Munson smiles, and clears his throat as he begins to speak, pulling the attention of his family to him.

“So the reasons why mama liked pink tulips is-”

The sun slowly begins to set as the ragtag group settles in to listen to Eddie’s story, all scrunched in as close as they can.

And for once in his life?

Eddie Munson hates the 2nd Sunday of May just a little bit less.

so in case you forgot: buffy never came to sunnydale in season 1. the master took over sunnydale and made xander and willow his deranged vampire sidekicks. buffy fights the master and her, cordelia, angel, willow and xander all die. almost all these points are going off the branching timeline where giles didn’t destroy anya’s pendant and the wishverse kept going.

larry is a “white hat” working with giles, oz and nancy. he has dyed black hair. I think it’s safe to assume that larry is out in this universe, and apocalypse or no apocalypse I love the idea of these three being a found family friend group just like buffy and the scoobies. also love the idea that oz and larry were in love but that’s just because I am insane lmao. anyway larry is out as gay and friends with oz with surrogate father figure giles… yeah that just makes me happy. I would love to see his season 1-3 growth in coming out and becoming a better person / not a bully similar to cordy. and shittily dying his hair black.

were spike and dru there during the season 2 period? did the master kill them? did the white hats kill them? did they leave? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM????

the mayor, adam, glory and the first would likely still happen on top of all the vampire apocalypse stuff. the trio could be dead or vampires and dark willow obviously would not be able to happen. does giles fight these threats, collecting various child fighters over the years?? no idea. do they succeed?? no idea.

dawn doesn’t exist because buffy is dead. I wonder who the key would have taken the form of, perhaps she would be faith’s sister…???

what’s the status of jenny calendar?? joyce?? tara?? amy?? no one knows!! I just hope they didn’t meet too grisly of ends. the idea of leather-clad apocalypse vampire versions of all these badass women intrigues me though…

did anya remain a demon?? destroying her necklace would reset the timeline back to normal, so I guess she must have done. my anyiles heart says giles thought “I could fix her” and fell in love with a vengeance demon who doomed reality but that might just be wishful thinking (no pun intended).

lindsey would have both hands intact and he and lilah would likely stay at wolfram and hart, and neither would die unless they were caught in the crossfire of vampire apocalypse stuff.

gunn would stick with his crew in LA and would likely fight the master at one point, not to mention even more vampires than usual, and without superpowers would likely die eventually.

angel investigations would never run wolfram and hart, meaning illyria would have to find a different host body. if it was lindsey or lilah that would be awesome.

pylea would stay the same and suck forever because cordy would never go there.

in terms of wesley, faith and doyle, I recommend this amazing fic. it really speaks for itself, it’s awesome!!

its unclear as to who would be called after buffy. is it a person to person thing or simply a timing thing?? would it be kendra, faith, or someone else entirely? as I said this is explored in the fic I linked, but still interesting to discuss.

season 7 would be very different. we don’t know what slayer is currently around and we don’t know if that would change the first’s plan or the ending with all the potentials becoming slayers. no idea. kennedy would not be important thank god.

my beatles obsessed mom used to put on the yellow submarine when i was sick as a very young kid so i have many delirium-filled memories of it combined with the general weirdness that comes with experiencing a piece of media as a kid and i just know i’d be a horrible parent and feel primal urges to make my kids watch elephant parts with no context or explanation. like not even the monkees show or like the brady bunch and gilligan’s island and i love lucy like i watched. we’d be watching the dolenz jones joyce and hart tv special every night and they’d also have the “hi there baby it’s dolenz and jones” part memorized cause i’d probably repeat it all the time like my mom would with “sit ubu sit, good dog. woof!”

Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

ich hoffe, wenn ich mich hier auf die festlege, bekomme ich auch mal wieder irgendwas fertig geschrieben, also: ein dylan/finnley-AU, das im wesentlichen smut ist, und unwesentlich schräg vom canon abbiegt. es ist wirklich nur eine entschuldigung für mich, schmutzige phantasien zu haben & meine sex & candy playlist zu hören. temporarily lost at sea, eine etwas längere bob/dylan-fic (hence the title, you know, weil das aus 'diamonds & rust' von joan baez ist, das natürlich von bob dylan handelt), in der bob in einem miesen coffeeshop arbeitet, in dem dylan schrecklichen kaffee trinkt, wenn er seinen vater nach einem nervenzusammenbruch in der psychiatrie besucht. die ursprüngliche idee war damals: was wäre, wenn die ganzen traumatischen erlebnisse bob eines tages mal signifikant belasten würden, und er außerdem mit jemandem anbandelt, der ihm fast die nase gebrochen hat. daddy cool, eine fic, in der peter nach der scheidung seiner eltern bei seinem vater in rocky beach bleibt und (zu dessen ärger) am city college studiert. die idee war so ein bißchen, daß eltern manchmal richtig hart versagen, ohne es zu wollen (definitiv von der film-version von henry inspiriert), und peter mir am ehesten wie jemand erscheint, der mal vorübergehend die elternrolle für seinen lausigen vater übernehmen würde, obwohl er schrecklich enttäuscht von ihm ist. ein cardigan/august/betty triangle inspired one-shot über peter, kelly und mina (parker).

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

bob, finnley und dylan. ich mag bob am liebsten, wenn er ein bißchen instabil ist, finnley, wenn er wirklich entsetzlich bitchy ist, und dylan für die latente aggressivität.

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

jein. für jemanden, der eigentlich immer irgendwelche romanzen schreibt, lese ich sehr ungern welche. als teenager wollte ich gerne wie joyce carol oates schreiben, oder wie shirley jackson oder daphne du maurier. oder so einen dieser gesellschaftsromane wie im 19. jahrhundert, oder was cooles wie von dashiell hammett. aber daraus wäre wohl nie was geworden. generell geht es mir so, daß wenn ich eine idee für etwas habe, es ganz gerne selbst schreiben will; und wenn ich was lesen will, dann gucke ich halt, was es so gibt. macht das sinn? also, ich hab' nie wirklich den gedanken: oh, diese spezifische idee von mir - dazu müsste es doch einen roman geben!

17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?

ich glaube, wenn man nicht viel übung hat, dann guckt man seine sachen an und sieht im wesentlichen, daß sie fertig geworden sind und an welchen stellen man sehr verzweifelt gewesen ist. und ich denke, leser können es etwas objektiver oder nach geschmackskriterien beurteilen - insofern sehen sie die sachen sicher anders als ich. so gut wie alle meine fics sind aus irgendeiner schnapsidee gewachsen, die am ende keine große rolle mehr gespielt hat (ich habe eine dylan/goodween fic geschrieben, weil ich dachte, daß goodween sicher mal in seinen mathelehrer verschossen war; meine dylan/skinny fic begann mit der idee, daß skinny dylans vater aus der ferne beim rauchen sieht; ich habe eine gen fic über bob & kelly geschrieben, nur weil ich denke, daß bob wahrscheinlich total auf smucker's goober grape steht).

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

viele charaktere, die mir wichtig sind, sind in meinem headcanon entweder immigranten, kinder von immigranten oder nicht weiß (bobs mutter ist in meinem headcanon afro-latina & seine haare sind blondiert; finnleys mutter ist englische staatsbürgerin & ihre eltern immigrierten aus bangladesh; dylans mutter kommt aus serbien; cottas mutter aus ägypten; liz ist mexikanisch-amerikanisch). das ist relativ offensichtlich ein thema, weil ich selbst gemischtrassig bin & meine mutter immigrantin ist & meine halbe familie auf einem anderen kontinent lebt. (ganz allgemein habe ich immer so eine art biographie für zentrale charaktere, und so eine rudimentäre familiengeschichte, erinnerungen aus der kindheit & eine playlist, die er alleine im auto hören würde) ich mag bestimmte arten von charakteren sehr. so eltern, die richtig versagen, weil sie überfordert waren; oder frauen, die ein bißchen unausstehlich (lovingly) sind. so wiederkehrende eigenschaften sind zwanghafte selbstkontrolle, emotionale dysregulation und religiöses trauma. in meinen lieblingsbeziehungen (ob romantisch, freundschaftlich oder familiär) ist einer immer der dornenbusch und der andere der depp, der ihn umarmt.

"Musste dir ein neues Projekt suchen, nachdem du gegen mich in Karate so abgelost hast?" Hehe ... "Ich such' übrigens kleine fiese Zombies für meinen Film. Du bist perfekt für die Rolle." Boah, Noah!! "Wie geht's bei uns jetzt weiter? Also, mit dem Projekt, meine ich." 🥺 "Leute, ich brauch' Körperteile." 😁 Noah und Colin zusammen in der Küche. ❤️ Noahs und Colins Arme berühren sich kurz zufällig, als sie zusammen am Fenster stehen. ❤️ Sonst geht's mir aber gut. "Das überzeugt mich nicht." Aw, arme Julia. Sie hat sich so viel Mühe gegeben. Joel drängt gibt Marlon eine Flasche seines Fenchelsafts. Joyce als Karate-Zombie. Zu gut, wie sich Joyce bei Io über Noah beschwert, und Julia bei Colin. "Vielleicht verhalten sie sich ja ein bisschen mehr verliebt, wenn sie allein sind." "Nope." "Woher willst du das wissen?" "Äh, na jaaaa ..." 😁 "Du hast sie im Waschraum beobachtet?" "Ich hab' recherchiert." Die Szene im Waschraum ist auch Gold! Julia und das "Gespräch" mit Patrick. "Ich frag' mich, wann Noah angekrochen kommt" Aw, ach, Joyce. Autsch, die Kommentare. "Vielleicht wär's einfacher, wenn du weniger streng wärst." Ich werde mich nie davon erholen, dass Noah direkt nach diesem Satz seinen Kopf auf Colins Schulter legt. Bald schreib ich nochmal 2-3 Sätze mehr dazu in einem Extra-Post. Die Umarmung zwischen Julia, Colin und Noah ist süß! Lilly hat Geburtstag. "Taschentücher sind vorne in meiner linken Hosentasche, falls einer von uns weinen muss." Aw, Gustav! 🥺 Ich verstehe es, dass Ava es nicht an die große Glocke hängen wollte, wer ihr Bruder ist. "Ich hätte echt nicht gedacht, dass du so scheiße sein kannst." Harte Worte von Io, aber ich versteh' so gut, dass sie gerade einfach total enttäuscht ist. Klar hatte Joyce mit dem Video keinerlei böse oder rassistische Absicht und sie wollte niemanden verletzen, aber Menschen haben sich davon verletzt gefühlt, was ich verständlich finde. Oh nein, Lilly ist weg!! Aw, Gustav und Reena und die Fotos. "Ey, Colin und ich haben schon viel durch, aber das ist illegal." Das blaue Herz-Eis. Okay, diese Fotos sind ein bisschen anders als die davor geworden. "Du bist es sowas von wert, Lilly." Oh no, Ava!

"Kannst du die bitte aufsetzen? Dein richtiges Gesicht kann ich sonst nicht ernst nehmen." "Friss sie, Colin, friss sie!" "Kannst du ihn bitte rausschmeißen?" "Nee! Ich finde Colin super." ❤️ "Danke, danke." "Als Platzhalter." "Aua! Ich bin anwesend." ke3oljeko3ljekolw. Leon muntert Io auf. ❤️ Cooler Trick, Ava!! Und wieder klappt das mit den Fotos nicht. Diese Szenen zeigen irgendwie ganz gut, dass man keinen Moment genau so noch ein zweites Mal erleben kann. Aw, Ava und Julia fliehen ohne Lilly. Und umarmen sich. Reena und Gustav! 😭❤️❤️ "Ich falte all meine Hemden genau so wie du deine Blusen." Hihi. "Und was steht auf der Pro-Seite?" "Ich liebe Gustav." 😭❤️🥺 Ava, die zu der Stelle guckt, wo vorher Lilly gestanden hat. 😭 Noch eine Umarmung. Joyce! Schön, dass sie das gemacht hat. Abschied zwischen Reena und Gustav. 😭❤️ Diese Musik dazu. Ja, ich hab' fast geweint. "Danke, dass du mich gerettet hast." Natürlich ist es scheiße, was Julia wegen Patricks Nummer macht, keine Frage, ich möchte aber nicht lügen und bin doch ziemlich sicher, dass ich das mit 14 auch gemacht hätte - wenn ich damals schon ein Handy gehabt hätte. 😁 Beide Folgen finde ich ziemlich toll!
