i am still battling through my young dracula hyper fixation so to anyone who even still thinks about young dracula have this balls to the wall unhinged thing my brain spawned that if i had the energy (& if i actually thought i could do a decent job of writing vlad) would butcher into a fanfic:

vlad goes back to the dreamworld except he gets yeeted through a dracula multiverse where he meets versions of count dracula from 1931-2023 & after being scarred for unlife & after realises just how good he's got it.

TV series 2007-2010

The Tudors is a historic television series which was set during the reign of King Henry VIII of England. The series was created and written by Michael Hirst and was mostly filmed in Ireland. The series stars Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Henry VIII), Joss Stone (Anne of Cleves), Tamzin Merchant (Catherine Howard), Henry Cavill (Charles Brandon), James Frain (Thomas Cromwell), Sam Neill (Cardinal Wolsey), Kristen Holden-Ried (William Compton), Hans Matheson (Thomas Cranmer), and Peter O’Toole (Pope Paul III).

            The Tudors pleased history fans by many of its scenes based on actual events. However, there were historic inaccuracies. King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour didn’t look anything like the actual people. They morphed the King’s sisters, Mary and Margaret into one character. Even though there are other inaccuracies in the series, it’s not as severely inaccurate as other films and series based on the Tudors.

Stonewall (2015)

I went into Stonewall knowing it would be bad. I wanted to know whether it might be entertaining anyway. It sort of is, but for all the wrong reasons.

Based on true events, the story begins in 1969, New York, three months before the Stonewall riots that kicked off the gay liberation movement. Danny Winters (Jeremy Irvine) is a young gay man fleeing his narrow-minded parents. Frightened and confused in the big city all alone, he tries his best to make a living while befriending a group of mismatched gay youths and drag queens.

Stonewall follows a gay protagonist but as a portrayal of a pivotal moment in LGBT history, it couldn’t be more wrong. You’ve got a few black characters here and there, but for the most part, we’re following a straight-looking white character that's a total fabrication. Did people of color, drag queens, butch lesbians, and/or trans women play any part in the Stonewall riots? Not according to this movie. I understand the need to tie all of the historical events together so they flow smoothly into a single narrative but this was still not the way to do it. Stonewall baffles the mind. Roland Emmerich specializes in big special effects-driven films like 2012, Independence Day, and The Day After Tomorrow - the opposite of films like this one. Did someone assign this project to him solely because he's gay?

Setting aside any qualms you may have about representation or accuracy, Stonewall still isn’t good. Gay or not, audiences can understand what it’s like to be a teenager trying to find their life in the world, but this overabundance of clichés will bore everyone. The film's dramatic elements are extremely predictable; merely a checklist of bad things that could happen until the historical event which promises that “Hey, everything’s going to be alright in the end”. Not helping are the characters, who are not likable. The people Danny befriends are thieves, nasty to each other, or forever tangled in petty drama. So what if they're victimized minorities? That only goes so far.

Stonewall is a confused picture. It implies that a certain police officer who leads raids on the Stonewall Inn has no prejudice against gays. Over and over, he seems sympathetic towards the people he arrests, caring only about the mob ties behind the scenes - unlike other officers who deliberately harass the LGBT community. Then, the pre-credit sequence proceeds to demonize him and exonerates Ed Murphy (Ron Perlman), the violent, self-hating man who's spent the entire film exploiting homosexuals! What’s going on here?!

This feels like a film made by a team who is trying to save face. It’s a sloppy picture that seems unconcerned about the issues at the heart of the Stonewall riot but both Roland Emmerich and writer Jon Robin Baitz are gay! It's so consistently wrong it perfectly embodies the saying that "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions".

Stonewall is not engaging. I doubt anyone would feel like they learned anything about the gay movement of the '60s after seeing it. The picture fails on all fronts, which makes it fascinating. I don’t know if it's documentary-worthy but I'm dying to know what happened behind the scenes. It tries so hard to be dramatic it becomes uncomfortable, which prevents it from ever becoming "So bad It's Good" but I was somewhat mesmerized by what is undoubtedly the most misguided movie I’ve seen in the last decade. (On DVD, September 9, 2016)
