why don't you like jayjon? Genuinely asking btw and I'm neutral btw I don't really ship superheroes kids, so yeah
Alright, firstly I have always come across damijon shippers that ship them as kids because their purest connection peaked when they were young so you kind of permanently keep Jon and Damian as kid in your head because of what DC did to them.
We ship them in a ‘wholesome crush on your best friend, twisting inside you over time that you snub out till you reach your adulthood and have the maturity to deal with it’ type of way. The beauty of Damijon is not the fact that it’s Bat x Super. I honestly don’t care for this dynamic ergo not shipping superbat and not liking Timkon at all. The beauty of Damijon is that they could become something with a friendship to back it up, then continue to push each other’s characters forward while being in a relationship if the writer cared enough. It’s a plus that they care for each other so much and have the personalities to really balance each other out.
I enjoy ships like Daminika, Dami x Colin and other Jon ships as well. I just only post damijon and talk about them. It’s only Jonj*y I have issues with. It’s not about ‘getting in the way of my ship’ nothing can ever get in the way of me enjoying damijon and fandom is just gonna have to deal with that. We all come here for enjoyment because we should supposedly enjoy DC for DC and find community in that, enjoy our ideas and takes on it and one person is not going to perceive or enjoy something the same way but we are so damn MEAN to each other. Damijon gets a lot of heat, mostly because twitter damijon stans are annoying and horrible and damijon antis are just as bad.
So the problem I have with Jonj*y is just deep rooted.
Firstly, I hate the way it came about. The last thing Jon’s character needed was to be in a relationship period but then for it to be a queer relationship used as a tool to garner sales? There’s nothing in the world I dislike more than queer baiting. The last thing we needed from DC was to pull something like this and as a queer person it just really gets under my skin - as it should anyone, to be honest.
Even regardless of that Jonj*y is the relationship equivalent of stale bread. They have no chemistry, Jay has no character besides catoring to Jon’s sexuality, and even if they were to explore him there’s no point because objectively they’ve tarnished Jon Kent way too much to be wasting comic ink on Jay.
I don’t like aged up Jon Kent as a whole, it’s not like I want him to stay a kid forever - obviously not. The fun of a comic book character is their growth! Jon over time should have never been able to get to the age he is now when other comic book characters struggle to get near that age in decades. I MEAN HE’S NEARLY OLDER THAN KON RIGHT NOW. Bendis did what he did to Jon because he ain’t even like him.
There are real serious issues with Jon Kent’s age up than him getting with Damian. I know how to seperate my ship/fanon from canon. I can go on and on about the problems with it without mentioning Damian once.
I had to put “JonJ*y apologist DNI” in my bio because the stans kept coming to my page and spewing BS 24/7 so I thought it was my absolute right to make sure they knew this page was not for them.
If you enjoy the ship at all then you will not like me because I have almost every single active Jonj*y poster blocked because I have fought with them at least once because they wanted to be stupid and spew nonsense on Jon Kent when you can tell they haven’t read a damn comic besides SSOKE and it really shows.
If you enjoy it, just block me. It’s only a matter of time before we fight anyway, so don’t waste your breath because the whole time you could be trying to open your mouth, you could open a comic book instead, how about that?
Thanks for the asks though, LOL.

someone on reddit said DC comics have separate authors for each run so like superman's authors are probably not allowed to write things that affect batman's story and that's why they couldn't make conner and tim kiss even though tim is a canon male kisser and vice versa for damian and jon. suddenly everything on the planet earth makes sense

I like to think that no matter what it's hard to keep Jon and Damian apart.
Like they get grounded? They're going to find a way to sneak off and meet up with each other in secret.
So much so that that their parents just give up on separating the two as a punishment.
You can't separate it buy one get one free deal
Absolutely, they are joined at the hip!!! Gonna add to this and say even their friends have given up on keeping them apart. They are essentially one being and their friends jokingly treat them as such (romantic or platonic they even have a "couple name" with their friend group).
Maya: Hey Kathy, have you heard if DamiJon are coming to the party this weekend?
Kathy: They can't, Jon has to work so Damian is gonna stay home.
Colin: Geeze, you would think they're married! Can't they be apart for five minutes?!
Kathy: That would be impossible, they share one brain and it looks like Jon needs it tonight 🤣

So last night I was watching the JLU episode "The Man Who Has Everything" and the plot synopsis was, "Wonder Woman and Batman visit Superman at the Fortress of Solitude for his birthday, only to discover he's been captured by Mongul." And I'm walking in like "Cool, fun, I'm going to see Bruce and Diana punching Mongul while surrounded by a whole bunch of nifty little Fortress of Solitude easter eggs" but NO it turns out that 80% of the episode is Clark trapped in an Illusory Krypton where he has everything he wanted and it turns out that just boils down to being a chill Dad on a farm (but also the farm is on Krypton which didn't die and also his dad is still alive). And when Clark finally realizes that this Krypton is an illusion, he takes his son by the shoulders and he's like "I love you and I'm so proud of you and I remember the day you were born and how it was the happiest day of my life and I am packed with all of these amazing memories of watching you grow up but I don't think you're real" and you straight-up feel your heart get ripped out of your chest at the concept of Supes having to make the conscious decision to part with all this to get back to reality and save his friends
And when Superman finally breaks free of the illusory Krypton he goes completely apeshit on Mongul and it's so satisfying.
But then also Bruce gets trapped in the same 'prison of what you most desire' and it turns out he just wants to see his dad beat the shit out of the dude that killed him and Martha.
It's honestly kind of funny because Clark's 'perfect prison' was this highly complex conceptualization of Krypton where Jor-El is talking about how it took him years to salvage his reputation after mistakenly predicting Krypton's destruction, and Clark's wife is this obvious fusion of both Lois and Lana, and Clark has to remind his kid to take the dog out, and it keeps cutting back to Bruce's fantasy which is just "Hell yeah, Thomas, beat his ass."

WHY JON KENT IS AGED UP.
I realized that people don’t actually know why Jon Kent was aged up so for the people that don’t know I’m going to explain why he was aged up; the real life reason and the story reason.
The real life reason is DC was trying to get ready with 5G Future State and Infinite Frontier and they were trying to do something new. So their idea was to try and take Superman (Clark) off the table. They also wanted a fresh Superboy/Superman to be apart of new teams they could form and fight in new stories in the potential future. (I forget what team and etc because this is from my memory, sorry) Brian Micheal Bendis than had come from Marvel to DC, I know he’s done the same thing in Marvel where he’s written for characters that are more on the side and made them more interesting which worked out but when he came to DC they made the mistake of letting him touch their most well known Superhero: Superman.
Brian Micheal Bendis had decided to make a story completely focused on Clark Kent and Jon was a casualty to this.
To remove him from the story they made it so Mr. Oz (a DC villain) was revealed to be Jor-El (Jon’s grandfather) who had survived the explosion on Krypton by being taken out of Krypton the very moment it blew up by an omnipotent. being called Dr. Manhattan then he appeared suddenly in his house and asked to take Jon and Lois on a space mission to learn the inner workings of the universe. You may be wondering: “Why would Clark and Lois allow this to happen?!” they wouldn’t. it’s very mischaracterized, Clark Kent loses himself in only being Superman and Lois Lane becomes a mother who doesn’t care about her family but only cares about headlines.
Jon in all this time got stuck in a wormhole where he was warped into Earth-3 (a universe where the Justice League is evil) and he gets imprisoned in a Volcano where he’s tortured and abused by Ultraman (that worlds Superman) along with that world’s Lois Lane who is like that worlds Superman.
Then they decide on keeping this in continuity, Tom Taylor/Bendis allow Jon to keep his tortured past and they let Jon explore his sexuality but it is not authentic… its just for headlines and sales but it doesn’t matter since the comic “Superman: Son of Kal-El” flopped.
Jon now doesn’t even act like Jon and he doesn’t have any chemistry with the characters he once did like Damian etc, his personality seems flat… This also takes away Super Sons and removes the option of us being able to watch Jon find his way as a hero and take up after his father. They wanted Jon to become the new Superman which won’t last because there's no way Clark Kent is not coming back.
I'm sure his age-up will not last long though and people will rightfully be mad because “Jay Nakamura” his boyfriend will cease to exist if he becomes young again which would be extremely problematic.
He will most likely be aged down because there's no one who likes this change so Im not too worried.
Over all its just a simple case of a writer writing for a character he doesn’t understand at all.

DC stop aging up my favourite characters challenge to “make them more interesting”/“have better storylines” challenge go.
Let Jon Kent be 11. Let him be a kid. Let him be trying to navigate school. Making friends, awkward social situations, discovering who he is outside of Superboy. Let him struggle with trying to balance entering middle school with being a superhero. Let him find the balance between becoming his own person and living up to his parent’s expectations. Let him be Jon Kent, a kid who’s just starting out and finding who he wants to be outside of Superman’s shoes, the ones that are too big for him right now, but will one day fit.
Let Jon Kent live.

Lois: Clark and I have decided that god forbid should anything horrible happen to us, we would like Bruce to be Jon's legal guardian.
Bruce*going over to pick Jon up*: That is great news! Did you hear that Jon? When something horrible happens you're going to be all mine!
Clark: It really is an if situation...
Bruce: All mine!

I Read Bendis So You Don't Have To: The Famed Jon Kent Age Up
Hi! I'm Milas. I've read more Bendis Superman than is probably healthy.
No matter if you liked the age up or not, most fans are in agreement: this run was bad. Pretty dang bad. And I agree- this run is often hard to parse through all the... er, bendisisms, and often mangles what little themes it has through poor storytelling and lackluster use of page real estate. However, I unfortunately have become an expert on this particular story due to how many times I reference it in analysis, and I do not wish my suffering upon anyone else. So, to spare us all from said suffering while writing meta, I encourage Jon fans, from whichever corner of his fandom you come from, to use and link to this series as shorthand if you so need to.
This installment will be going, objectively as possible, beat by beat through the actual events of the famed 2019 Jon Kent age up.
Issues covered are Superman (2018) issues 7-10, as well as briefly covering the events of Super-Sons of Tomorrow (all issues) and The Man of Steel (issue 6).
Before we can get to the actual mainline Superman run where this event occurred, we should real quick go through the events leading up to this.
In Super-Sons of Tomorrow, Jon is confronted by Savior, an evil version of Tim Drake from a future where Jon accidentally causes a massive loss of civilian life via an explosion of his powers. Savior is travelling from back in time to try and prevent this from occurring by killing Jon, therefore stopping the catastrophe. This causes infighting amongst the Teen Titans, even more fighting with people from this alternate future timeline, and concludes with a vote being held to decide if Jon is welcome amongst the Teen Titans. The vote decides no, Jon will not be admitted onto the team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though the Teen Titans tell Jon that this is because the events of the book gave them a lot to think about and work out, this is not what Jon takes away from it.
In Man of Steel, Jor-El shows up and invites Jon out to space with him. This is meant to be a journey where Jon will be able to learn things that Clark has "neglected" to teach him, as well as connecting with his Kryptonian heritage.
Tumblr media
Clark and Lois are vehemently against this at first. Clark, especially, does not change his mind on this being a bad idea, even after Jon leaves.
Tumblr media
However, the reason Jon goes is because, in his own words, he feels like there is something wrong with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a feeling, that, in text, Jon feels specifically sparked on by the events of Super Sons of Tomorrow. Feeling lost, and like he needs to explore himself, Jon (and Lois, who does not want to leave her son unattended, and intends to write a book about the experience) join Jor El in space.
Tumblr media
(I highly do recommend you all read Man of Steel, because it's about as close as Bendis gets to writing genuinely well in this whole collection of books, and I can only screencap so much of the sheer amount of discussion that happens between the three Kents about Jon going on spacecation. Trust me, they didn't just shoo Jon off! They talked about it for what in comic time was AGES.)
This is where we get to issue 7 of Superman, where Jon returns from his vacation... as a seventeen year old.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Jon himself says, he didn't get aged up magically- He lived those years. So, what actually did happen to him while he was out there? What happened during those six-to-seven years (depending on who you ask)?
First: What happens to make Lois leave?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The House of El suit Clark lends her to keep her safe makes her a target, a target that puts her in active danger (in exact opposition to what Clark intended), and so for her own safety she departs.
Leaving Jon alone with his grandfather. Who, as Jon says, has gone completely insane.
The nature of Jor El's insanity is revealed in the next issue, issue eight, as we reach what I and friends call the Jor El Nihilism Speech:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jon follows Jor El's line of thinking for most of the conversation- He understands what it feels like to not belong in the story, because that fear of being somehow wrong was what brought him out here in the first place. Jor El, Jon Kent, both men outside of time, outside of belonging. Neither should exist. But Jor El takes it to a conclusion Jon doesn't accept: That it's a hopeless existence.
This makes Jon want to go home. Concluding Jor El has utterly lost it, he decides he needs to make a break for it somehow. Because of how far from Earth they are, he can't just fly off, so he attempts to get some help from some Green Lanterns:
Tumblr media
It doesn't go well. At this point, Jor El stops speaking to Jon for awhile, and they spend... an indeterminate amount of time fighting through the galaxy, trying to solve people's problems. While not talking to each other. At all.
Tumblr media
But when Jor El finally does try and talk to Jon....
Well. Here's the part you're probably reading this post for:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yay! Its volcano time! An unexpected black hole throws Jon (and Jor, but we'll get to him later) through dimensions, landing him on Earth-3. At the feet of the Crime Syndicate.
If you're going to read ANY issue for yourself, I recommend it to be this one. The Ultraman stuff is not only perpetually relevant to Jon's story, its LIKELY going to be relevant again when Absolute Power: Super Son releases. Ultraman is the one member of the Syndicate who claims Jon as 'his':
Tumblr media
And proceeds to imprison Jon in a volcano. As I am sure all of you know by now. The Volcano.
Ultraman and Jon trade some conversation back and forth, establish who each of them are, before Ultraman tells Jon he is never going home, and that this is home now:
Tumblr media
It becomes quickly apparent that due to the lack of sun, Jon has no protection, no way of escape. He tries to fly out, but no dice:
Tumblr media
And so stuck he is. For multiple years. With nothing but pigs to feed on, stuck with a monster who intends to 'train' him to his full potential:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But eventually, Jon escapes. He takes a rock, bangs a hole in the side of the Volcano, and gets himself out, relying on what little he has left of his invulnerability.
Now is a good time to mention a small misconception I see peddled around a lot: There is actually significant evidence pointing to the idea that Jon did NOT spend all six years in the volcano. After wandering Earth 3 for an indeterminate awhile, going from city to city and stopping to help people along the way, there is a strong suggestion by the way Bendis frames it that this was also years. I'd personally estimate Jon's time on Earth 3 was about half and half- Three ish years of the volcano, three ish years of surviving out in the wild. Anyways, Jon finds his way to the Syndicate's headquarters, encountering an evil version of Lois who tries to attack him. But surprise! Onto issue 9, we finally get to Jon's rescue!
Tumblr media
Jor El was also displaced in the multiverse, of course- But we have no idea for how long, where, and what he did during this time. All we know is this: Jon wasn't just thrown across space and time, he was thrown backwards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this is where the source of the most misconceptions come from: Its complicated to grasp! But very simply, the reason why Jon was able to live six years while everyone else stayed the same age was because he wasn't just thrown TO Earth-3, he was thrown backwards as well. Here's a chart I made about a year ago to try and visualize it:
Tumblr media
If you're wondering how Jor El found him... we actually don't know. All we know is Jor El apparently made some fucked up arrangements in order to accomplish it.
Tumblr media
And that kind of brings us back to the beginning, where Clark and Jon reunite. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, namely how Jor El managed to get Jon back in the first place, but this is essentially the rundown of the age up. So to recap very quickly: 1. No, Jon was not magically aged up. He lived those years. Its spacetime travel, not just space travel. He is mentally 17-18. 2. No, Clois didn't just 'let him go' with no conflict. It was actually a huge argument that ended up also really mentally fucking with Clark in later arcs. He goes to therapy with Khalid Nassour about it! 3. Jor El has a lot more to do with all this than he reasonably should. I could explain why he's alive but it would give us both an aneurysm- Just know in this story, he kind of serves as a foil to Jon.
Now, why did Bendis write the age up? Here's a post by a friend that gets into the metatextual reasons why this was a thing.
