they tried to rebrand as The Criminals but riz is literally the city council's treasurer and also turns out people in their late 20s don't really name their friend groups. so now they're The Intrepid Heroes
#fantasy high#figueroth faeth#kristen applebees#adaine abernant#gorgug thistlespring#fabian seacaster#riz gukgak#yes this is sorta from the same thing Ive been doing for future!riz lol. that riz is the same design basically#just the above board sona#u can kiiinda tell which of the bad kids I have a very clear vision for their future design and which I kinda wing it for lol#kristen's tank top is white and the coat is galaxy tie dye btw. I didnt have the energy to express that in ink but thats the ult version#adaine I truly imagine to grow up to be the perpetual t shirt and jeans person but she carries her sword everywhere#gorgugs truth is that shes just hot she can wear anything. but I do give him the skirt hike bc I love him#I really like skirt hike... such a fun thing to put in designs. if ur garment has no variance in how it falls or drapes u can do it urself#this is also a little bit of an exercise in how much of an accessory I can freehand from memory#fig's bass I straight up did not fact check for. just rawdogging it memory only. same with fandrangor and adaine's crocs#I did write in my funny little document that gorgug takes up baking and is good at it bc I think itd be good for him#to do basically chemistry and math that also feeds people#out of them... kristen and riz would be Good good at it. but riz would get way too stressed abt the recipe and kristen bakes by#eyeballing the texture. fabian likes decorating but refuses to get anywhere near the heat of an oven. adaine isnt good at it first try#and is like well my effort goes to other things actually. fig Loves baking and Nobody lets her into the kitchen#idk why this manifests so clear in my head. must be bc of recent foccacia events#living in the subtropics is hell for baking nobody try it ok? I tell u

What remains constant is the fact that her death is romanticized. More than that, idealized. Type her name into Google and you can quickly find hundreds of depictions of flower-crowned girls in ponds with thousands of reblogs on Tumblr. Those many, many versions of her are uniformly gorgeous, almost dreamy. Everyone picks up on Ophelia being "mermaid-like" with her garlands of flowers. There's very little acknowledgment of her abrupt and muddy death. That's not pretty. It's not picturesque. While Hamlet gets long soliloquies and self-introspection, Ophelia gets lute playing and off-stage drowning. - Nadine Akkerman, "Dead Woman in the Bathtub"
#'her garments pull'd the poor wretch from her melodious lay to muddy death.'#society: idk suddenly i can't read but i liked the part about the mermaid#that second gif will be starring in my bad dreams tonight#thanks for that jean#hamlet#william shakespeare#jean simmons#the silver screen#*

I fucking love thrifting/vintage shopping while butch I swear all my favorite pieces that aren't band shirts are from either local places or Literally Goodwill
#uh. these tags contain a stoned infodump about fashion. you have been warned#one of the biggest pros of masculine clothing over feminine clothing for me is the quality and Shape#and thickness of fabric#i love cheap but solidly-made boxy clothing#i love the versatility and how i can make nearly any two garments work#i love how simple menswear staples don't take much effort to elevate and become a little elegant just by adding a piece or two of#carefully-picked jewelry#some CUFFED jeans. and a belt#and make sure you french tuck your shirt/sweater/what have you#my arguably-masc jewelry recs include rings from hippie places especially if they have a thick band and the stone is SET in there#and not held in with prongs like many engagement rings do#and mostly-metal stud earrings ALSO from thrift stores. getting back to the original post#WTFFF I NEED TO MAKE A ZINE ABOUT MENSWEAR AND ITS MEANING FOR ME#ajnyway#butch#ftm

Have rendered roughly a dozen pairs of old jeans that i'm never going to be able to wear again (various reasons) into their component parts. Have two new blisters on my hand despite nice sharp heavy shears.
Next step is to use the components to repair this stack:
that I can wear again but have universally worn through in the upper inner thigh area and are no longer suitable for public areas. Currently I'm alternating wearing my two remaining pairs of jeans that are still intact so it's become a task I can no longer procrastinate about.
I have requested a few tv series on dvd from the library to help occupy me while I'm cutting and hand-basting at least. The final sewing with the machine will be tedious though.

Got absolute fucking whiplash today, to illustrate some systems in a work training today we were watching informational videos that were mostly essentially adverts for particular factories or services. Anyway.
One is about The Circular Economy and it opens with like 'nature is self sustaining but our economic system is not' nodnod
'we buy new things and the old things get thrown away, wasted' nodnod
'in a circular economy these thrown away items would be reclaimed and the parts used in the construction of the new things' yep
'but to do this we may need to rethink our entire economy' wait is this flashy ad about to actually advocate against excessive consumption?
'To achieve this we must envision a world where we do not own things, but loan them from manufacturers, who can then recycle them'
Oh so like, nightmare world in the name of profit. Cool. Death.
#the next video was about repairability and a company that offered free repairs on their jeans#but there was no acknowledgement that these were like. horrifically contradictory.#like literal amazondysyopia shit.#it was just a whole segment (+ garment workers get like 1% of the profit from the shit they make)#that felt like 'yeah our clients [fashion companies] are a bundle of dicks'

I have parasocial relationships with the old women in my historical sewing and primary source groups like you wouldn’t even believe
#Joyce godsey and Marna Jean Davis the women that you are#I like to imagine that my facebook comments make Joyce giggle because I’m one of the youngest in that group by far#OR that my comments are the bane of her existence and she begrudgingly tolerates me because I support her on Patreon#and Miss Marna Jean I can’t keep your name out of my mouth because your patterns and research have been so helpful for my intern 🥺#time traveler’s rabbit hole is the best Facebook group in existence if you’re the same kind of autistic as me#and wickedstepmothers on Etsy is a treasure trove of patterns taken from extant garments#reproductions of extant guides and books#and some wonderful research in very nearly priced PDFs#they are my professor emelius brown correspondence college of witchcraft London#museum musings
