I’m basking in the afterglow of seeing a rare contemporary cinematic masterpiece. Eggers’ Nosferatu doesn’t only proudly stand next to Murnau and Herzog’s versions, but surpasses them. The film is so utterly sumptuous in dark gothic dreamlike style, that at times you’re simply swept away in a transcendental spell. The cinematography is evocative and speaks volumes. One shot has a family huddled together looking so tiny in this huge room, you understand they’re damned…and the world will have its way with them. I’m very impressed the marketing team went to pains not to show Orlok (I only watched the trailer once), because when he’s finally revealed…a nightmarish demonic monster burns itself indelibly into your heart and mind. For me it’s easily the best film of the year. The script, the performances (Depp is awesome in particular), the stunning costumes, and just everything make it sheer ecstasy. And yes, it scared the living hell out of me several times. I absolutely love The Witch & The Lighthouse (The Northman not so much), but this is the film he was born to make, and he absolutely kills it.
Damn, they really did save the best for last this year. It’s dark, sinister, and a filmmaking odyssey.

A24 has released The Lighthouse screenplay book for $60. It’s the 11th installment in the studio’s series of 8x11 hardcover editions. An e-book version is also available for $20.
In addition to Robert & Max Eggers' original script, the 216-page tome includes an introduction by actor Willem Dafoe, essays by authors Lauren Groff (Fates and Furies) and Ian McGuire (The North Water), full-page stills, and excerpts from a 1881 lighthouse keeper’s guide.

"And you will all live long enough to witness the horror of the end of everything. And you will be left to wander the devastated planet alone. Permanently and cosmically... alone."

Knock at the Cabin Review-A Film With a Philosophical Question that is the Key to It's Success
M. Night Shyamalan’s career has been a bit hit-and-miss. Ever since it started with the Sixth Sense back in 1999. He started pretty well with three fantastic films out of the gate but started to falter in the mid to late 2000s with dud after dud. It wasn’t until he put out The Visit in 2015 and partnered with Universal Pictures and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions that he was able to turn…
