I felt summons because I am a Bear Roy enthusiast.

Roy post retirement not dieting so extremely anymore, cooking more for his beloveds (jamie and keeley) not exercising as much and putting on some weight. PLUS he's not trimming the beard as much so he becomes shaggy roy (a la early s2) and Jamie and Keeley are all over it.

He's a little insecure at first but it's rlly hard to stay insecure when the loves of your life are all over you at all times.

SEASON 2 HAIR ROY BUT HE PUT ON SOME WEIGHT???? 🥵🥵🥵 AND HE'S BEEN GOING TO THERAPY SO HE'S NOW A FUCKING TEDDY BEAR INSIDE AND OUT 🥵🥵🥵

I fully support this, I just love the idea that without even realising he has let himself enjoy the pleasures of life a bit more, whether that is the junk food he never allowed himself to indulge in (besides ice cream with phoebe) both because he was used to the player's diet and as some sort of internal punishment of not deserving life's pleasures as well as maybe skipping some work outs here and there. He still exercises for his health but maybe he skips the extra run etc and with getting older and his metabolism slowing down a bit it starts to add up a bit.

And maybe someone points out how he looks "healthier" which then leads to him having a little bit of a moment and feeling insecure when he looks at himself in the mirror or maybe he has to buy a bigger size something (and maybe jamie's clothes are starting to fit more than being baggy on him lol)

But Jamie and Keeley are legit acting horny AF!!! they're salivating!! But they're also conscious of not wanting to point it out as they know how Roy feels about being older (and yes J may joke about him being old in age but that's different than something like someone's body image) so they keep glancing at each other around him and he's starting to notice and feeling even more insecure and maybe he snaps at them and tells them they can just fucking tell him that he's fat and ugly and they want to break up with him and Keels is all like "Oh no babe the opposite" while Jamie just lets out the most pathetic desperate horny whine he's been keeping in for weeks and have a breakdown about how hot he looks and then they proceed to do stuff for him if you know what i mean

Keeley brings Jamie back to hers after the coffee stalking. Roy strong-arms him into explaining why the fuck he did the show. Which leads to both of them insisting he stays with them because going back to Manchester where his dad can find him is a bad idea.

Because of that emotional turmoil, he hasn’t yet asked Ted about returning. Ted is doing his best to get Roy to come aboard as a coach.

SO THEN:

Roy insists to Ted that the team gets together for a chat. Roy and Jamie both show up, and Roy says that Jamie wants to apologize and make amends. And explain at least a little bit of why he acted the way he did. Some of it was just him being him. But some of it was his dad’s influence.

Putting off Sam trying to become friends because he “doesn’t need friends” according to his dad. Etc.

Jamie is doing it. Says that’s a reason, not an excuse, and he knows the difference. At one point when he’s overwhelmed Roy puts his hand on his shoulder and that bolsters him to get through it all.

Someone finally asks why Roy and Jamie are here, acting like friends, and what the fuck is going on. (Isaac, one captain to another?)

And Roy explains that Ted wants him to coach, and he wants to make sure he puts his name on a team that gets promoted. The best way to do that is to bring Jamie back. Him being gone is what got them relegated.

But Jamie wouldn’t let him suggest coming back until he’d started to repair what he broke. Kind of stuns people that Jamie insisted on letting the team have a say.

Someone asks if taking on Jamie is the condition Roy has to joining. He goes to answer, perhaps even affirmatively, but Jamie answers first. Absolutely not. Just because he and Roy are involved doesn’t mean he’s giving Jamie any slack.

And then his eyes go wide when he realizes what he said. Roy is just looking at him somewhat surprised. Dani fucking gasped. Then demands to know why Roy would ever leave Keeley.

So he haltingly explains that he and Keeley are both dating Jamie. And that he lives with them now. And that he would have disclosed this to management before accepting a position.

Colin “But not to us? We’d just have to wonder why you were giving Jamie special treatment?”

Jamie, after snorting, “Mate, the only special treatment Roy’d give me is doing more laps or drills, not less. You think he’s bad when he doesn’t like you? It’s worse when he does. Expects a lot out of you.”

Roy grunts at that so Jamie smiles just for him and says “Worth it though, innit?”

people are sooo hung up on roy and jamie fighting over keeley at the bar when that scene was resolved so perfectly (and also brought a satisfying finishing touch to the overreaching ”love triangle“ arc)

they realize there’s an issue between them

they learn they don’t actually want to fight over that issue they just want it to be resolved

they go to the woman that is in the center of the issue and like the idiots that they are, they have the audacity to think they can ask her to choose between them

keeley throws them out!!

they realize they are idiots!!

because they are!!!!

they are idiots!!

(but idiots who we love)

they continue to be friends who want to hang out with each other

(they realize there doesn’t have to be an issue at all and they are better as a throuple anyway and go pick up phoebe for a barbecue at the higginses 😌)
