Okay real talk, I had some issues with 3.5, namely the pacing

It’s painstakingly obvious that they’re trying to merge companion quests into the main story, but it is absolutely detrimental to the plot. I really enjoyed Hysilens as a character in 3.5, but shoehorning her backstory into the quest absolutely killed all anticipation for me.

I was hyped up, ready to kill Lygus, only to be sucked into an hour long flashback detour that completely slaughtered all the momentum they had been building up. Combined with the fact that Lygus was yapping my ear off every bloody second, I was debating skipping the entire thing because I was overstimulated and, quite frankly, bored.

Then, the boss fight was laughably easy unfortunately. My Phainon tore through Lygus like one of those cheap houses in a hurricane, and all I could think was “it can’t possibly be that easy”. Here’s the big bad of Amphoreus (until we get to fight Irontomb at least) but he falls over like a house of cards. It didn’t feel like a satisfying payoff for all the buildup they created (and killed) when the boss just keels over and dies immediately.

The pacing issue unfortunately also ruined Cerydra’s segment toward the end. We finally got to see the results of our hard work and they were dropping heavy-hitting lore bombs front right and center. It felt so satisfying to finally get some real answers and then noooo Cerydra needs a 30-minute summary of all our previous adventures (while skipping the Luofu??). Obviously this segment’s purpose was to show us her change of heart in regards to rewriting the laws of Amphoreus, but it didn’t have to be this long, nor did it have to be placed at this point in the story.

And then afterward, when I was starting to think we were finally getting somewhere, they give us a two minute segment of Dan Heng meeting Evernight and then that ended on a cliffhanger.

I love Amphoreus and I love hsr, but this one was rough.
