An Illustrative Case of Carjacking Gone Wrong - The Murder of Jack Snyder
Jack Snyder was a 17-year-old honor student, soccer player, and National Honor Society member who had a bright future ahead of him. He was also a kind-hearted person who wanted to help others in need. On the night of February 17, 2023, he left his girlfriend’s birthday party in Battle Creek, Michigan, and noticed two young boys walking in the cold. He offered them a ride home, not knowing that they had sinister intentions. The boys, aged 14 and 13, tried to carjack Snyder and shot him twice when he resisted. Snyder died on the spot, next to his vehicle, while the boys fled the scene. The police later arrested the suspects and charged them with felony murder and carjacking. This article will explore the tragic case of Jack Snyder’s murder, the motives and backgrounds of the killers, and the impact of the crime on the community and the family of the victim.
Details of Jack Snyder Murder
A bright future awaited Jack Snyder, a 17-year-old who excelled in academics, sports, and community service. He was a kind-hearted person who wanted to help others in need. On February 17, 2023, he was driving back from his girlfriend’s birthday party in Battle Creek, Michigan, when he saw two young boys shivering in the cold. He decided to give them a lift home, unaware of their evil plans.
The boys, who were 14 and 13 years old, attempted to steal Snyder’s car and shot him twice when he fought back. Snyder succumbed to his injuries on the spot, next to his car, while the boys ran away. The police later caught the culprits and charged them with felony murder and carjacking. The older boy was named Justice Chimner, while the younger one’s name was kept secret. The boys were tried as adults and faced life imprisonment. They were detained without bail at a juvenile facility. The police stated that there was no evidence connecting the suspects to Snyder. Although they mentioned having prior interactions with them, no information about their criminal history was disclosed.
How the Police Caught the Killers of Jack Snyder
The community played a vital role in helping the police catch the killers of Jack Snyder, a 17-year-old who was shot dead while trying to help two boys in the cold. The police received many tips from the public about the suspects and their location . The police also tracked their movements and identified them using surveillance cameras at various places in the area.
On February 19, the police arrested the 14-year-old suspect, Justice Chimner, who was sitting in a car near Jackson Street and Bedford Road. The same day, the 13-year-old suspect, whose name was not disclosed then, surrendered at the Battle Creek Police Department with a parent. The police also found a gun that they suspected was used in the shooting, but they were waiting for forensic confirmation.
The Latest Updates on the Trial of Jack Snyder’s Killers
The two suspects, Justice Chimner, 14, and Dewond Estes III, 13 at the time of the shooting, are charged with felony murder and carjacking. They are being tried as adults and face life imprisonment without parole. They are currently detained without bail at a juvenile facility .

canon starter call - open to anyone !
i have a strong urge to write some canon muses, so if you would be interested in writing against any of the canon muses listed under the READ MORE below, please comment/IM me and i can send a starter your way or reply to one of your starters.
i do not require you to know anything about my muse's canon, but i'm more than happy to tell you about it if you ask. i'd be happy to write canon muses against your ocs! also, mixing fandoms is 100% ok with me unless your canon muse is problematic and makes me uncomfy. my canon muses do not have all their memories or relationships from their life unless we plot it, but they will have the same general personality/ambitions.
if you are willing to write against my canon muses but don't care which, just like this post, and i'll take a look at your open starters and/or send you a closed starter at random with a muse i think fits the vibe.
*please don't agree to write against my canon muses if you're one of those picky weirdos that will be up in arms if i don't write a cannon muse exactly how you would.
( if you'd prefer to write against an oc muse only, check this post. )

The zoomer anon, you know that official works with the malice part remind how I got into comics
“Man I love this complex character I sure do-aaaand the next writer character assassinate the living fuck out of them because of personal bias or editorial mandates”
I could work at the marvel and dc comic divisions, I would either murder about 50% of my coworkers or burn down the HQs
Actually both most likely sorry with modern “takes” on Tony stark, Damian Wayne, and dear LORD what they did to Starfire and Barbra Gordan
I often wonder
“How the FUCK did these writers went with such interpretations?!”
Welcome to the pain of being a long time comic reader, my friend.
I've said a few times that I gave up on Marvel with Civil War, but what made me give up on mainstream comics as a whole was twofold. One, I hated the New 52 reboot. It ripped everything up everything I liked about DC and replaced it with cheap knockoffs and diversity hires. But after Rebirth, I started to soften a bit on DC. I read a few of the Scott Snyder Batman comics and didn't hate them. But the thing that really intrigued me was Peter Tomasi's Super Sons. I discovered it late into the run through image sets and meta a mutual from my old, non-politcs blog posted and it looked like a lot of fun. I heard the book was ending and I decided to wait until it was done to start reading it properly, so I could have a nice contained story to read and maybe use as a jumping on point to dip my toes back into DC full time. Maybe I'd even finally get into Superman, which I've tried a few times over the years, but he'd never really caught on with me the way Batman did.
Then I heard what Bendis did to Jon Kent, and I realized there was no point in ever getting invested in any of the Big Two ever again. Anything you like will inevitably be changed, and changed in a big, negative way. Editorial mandates and writers with a grudge against a character will always find a way to mess up anything that manages to somehow be good. Mainstream comics is a fully compromised art form. The days of Denny O'Neil, Chuck Dixon, Greg Rucka, Chris Claremont and the like were well and truly dead. The days of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby seem like a fever dream, because how could comics ever actually be that good?
Honestly, the best thing that could happen to our favorite characters is entering the public domain. The horrible takes will multiply, but there will at least be a non-zero chance of seeing a long running story with those characters done right for the first time in years, if not decades.
Until then, if that ever happens, we either reread the books we used to love and ignore the rest, or we try to find new voices outside of mainstream comics. For the latter, I can't recommend Eric July's Rippaverse enough. They even have Chuck Dixon writing for them now, and his first book, Alphacore, was great.

i promised him santa fe- Javid
(Note: Trigger warning for murder, violence, guns, and fear. Y’know, it’s only once I compile all of my writing that I realize how much angst I write, lol. Enjoy!)
No.
Davey’s at a loss for words- he can only stare in disbelief as Jack steps back, the gun held at arms’ length, shaking slightly but cocked and ready to kill. He’s alone save for Jack and his weapon, trapped in an alleyway with no way out. Terror shoots through him like fire, but it’s nowhere near as unbearable as the look on Jack’s face, the utter betrayal that he knows there’s no remedy for.
“Jack,” he gasps, tears springing to his eyes. “Why?”
“Shut up,” Jack commands, the tremble in his arms turning to a full-on convulsion as his breathing quickens, his heart pumping, fueled by anger and adrenaline and the knowledge of what he’s about to do. “Shut. Up.”
“I don’t understand.” Davey’s voice breaks just slightly, betraying his fear. “I thought you wanted to protect us.”
“I do,” Jack snaps, his voice cold and his eyes darkened with fury. “I’m doing this for the newsies.” The gun is still trained on Davey’s heart, Jack’s finger placed so softly on the trigger that for a moment, it seems like he’s hesitating to shoot. “Ya ever heard the term ‘sacrifice one for the good of the many’?”
Davey takes a breath, his mind whirling with Jack’s words. “What did Snyder offer you?” he asks desperately. “What the hell is so important that you’d kill to get it? I thought you cared for me, I thought we had-“
“He promised me the life of my friends!” Jack roars, and Davey’s heart skips a beat in fear as Jack steadies the gun- this time pointed right at Davey’s head. “You really thought that you meant something to me?! It’s you or… or…”
“Or Crutchie.” Davey finishes his sentence before Jack does. “It’s me or Crutchie.” The pieces click into place, and hopelessness floods Davey’s mind as he stares at the gun. “He gave you a choice, didn’t he? Kill me, put an end to the strike, or Crutchie stays in The Refuge?”
Jack falters, and Davey knows he’s right. Remnants of a glass bottle crunch under his feet as he steps back, pressing himself against the rough brick wall, trying to put as much distance between himself and Jack as possible. There’s nothing he can do or say to stop this- he knows deep in his soul that Jack won’t leave his brother behind.
“Please,” Davey whispers, one final, pleading attempt at a bargain for his life. Jack’s gaze softens for a moment, his eyes no longer seeming like steel, wiping his palms on the fabric of the brand-new suit Pulitzer put him in.
“I’m sorry, Dave,” he answers. “I promised him we’d make it to Santa Fe.” He lifts the gun, and Davey sees the whisper of tears in the eyes of the boy he used to love as the sound of his own scream fills the air, one last cry of terror and grief.
Bang.

why the fuck did I just see an instagram post from Zoe Saldana - from 2 days ago!!! - that reiterated the FALSE claims about the Oct. 7th attack? Just a bunch of unsubstantiated allegations. Stick to the facts - Israelis were killed, some taken hostage but there's no evidence of babies being beheaded or even of rape. Of course that doesn't mean the lives lost that day mean anything less, but spreading such misinformation is never a good idea. It leads to more false assumptions about 'the enemy' to dehumanize them and make them out to be the worst kind of monsters - the kind we 'don't negotiate' with. This leads to people like Zoe thinking that carpet bombing civilians is 'actually necessary' since we're dealing with such a 'horrific' group of people.
The hostages that have been released actually talk about relatively kind treatment by Hamas. Can you say the same for the Palestinians (including children) being held in Israeli prisons?
The pearl-clutching at lies spread by Israel and yet deafening silence to the actual footage of Palestinians being slaughtered is telling.
People like Zoe (Adam Sandler, Amy Schumer, Aubrey Plaza, Bella Thorne, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Courtney Cox, Ewan McGregor, Gal Gadot, Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Timberlake, Jack Black, Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Goldblum, Jessifa Biel, Josh Bolin, Jud Apatow, Katy Perry, Kristin Chenoweth, Lana Del Rey, Madonna, Paul Rudd, Regina Spektor, Seth Meyers, Taika Waititi, Zach Snyder, and many more who signed the 'No Hostage Left Behind' post) are speaking loud and clear:
They only value certain hostages.
She thanks Biden for his 'unshakable moral conviction'. What does that conviction look like? Denying aid to Palestinians. Funding the Israeli military so they can continue to commit war crimes. Refusing to tell Israel to turn back on the power and water to the besieged Gaza Strip. Spreading more lies fed to him by Israel. Refusing to call for a ceasefire. Telling Israel that they have every right to do whatever it takes to 'destroy' Hamas - which means slaughtering every single person in Gaza. How is any of that getting the hostages back?
So many celebrities signing their name on a post riddled with lies.
Come on, people - at least use facts to try to back your case, pro-genocide as it may be.
Don't support indiscriminate murder of civilians and in the same breath claim you want 'freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace". There is no 'peace' in apartheid. There is no peace in genocide, in mass relocation, in discrimination and denial of basic human rights. There is not peace in that.
#palestine#free palestine#gaza#zoe saldana#hollywood really needs to pay attention to what they're putting their names to#no justice no peace

yes agreed Kerouac fucking sucks...but I also don't like any beat literature. It's telling that the best author among his contemporaries was an amphetamine-addled trust-fund kid that murdered his wife.
Yeah Burroughs was a fun case lmao. I'm pretty sure he tried to tell the cops that they were pretending to be William Tell when he killed her. Seriously, all those guys were stoned out of their minds. Probably why their books are amazing if you're a 16-22 year old boy but utterly unrelatable if you aren't; there are tons of accounts online of dudes who read the Beats as teens and loved them but revisited them as adults and were like "wow these guys are losers."
Reading that one chapter of Dharma Bums where Kerouac's self-insert and his inserts of Snyder and Ginsberg do three-day-long alcoholic naked ritual fake-Buddhism sex with a shy local teenager was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had. I was like, wait, this book is based on his life, these characters are based off him and his friends, and he writes THIS??? And PUBLISHES IT???
The only Beat scribbles that I can somewhat tolerate are some of Ginsberg's poetry. "Howl" is pretty damn good, even if Ginsberg was kind of a weirdo. (sidenote: one of Kerouac's worst transgressions in my opinion was the section of Dharma Bums when he has his self-insert go to the San Francisco "Howl" reading and changed the poem's title to "Wail." Fucking Wail??? Really Jack? That word just doesn't have even a sliver of the impact and tone of the word 'howl'. A howl is something raw and primal, a hoarse, furious refrain. A wail is like a fucking baby that needs a nap or something.)
Something that always amused me about the Beats is that many of them are super aware that they're all self-destructive, miserable hedonists, but none of them do anything about it. All of Kerouac's self-inserts go through this weird nature detox where they swear off alcohol and become functioning human beings, but Kerouac died of liver failure in his mom's basement or some shit. The way Ginsberg describes the effects of substance use on his friends in "Howl" is graphic and objectively brutal (if I wasn't already convinced to never do drugs, that poem would've done it), but then he goes and makes street drugs out to be a religious imbibement akin to the blood and body of Christ. Hypocrisy about matters of self-care is everywhere in Beat literature when you start looking for it. Kinda wild.
Honestly, the more I think about it the more I think the best modern-day analogue for Kerouac in particular is fucking Ernest Cline. The Ready Player One guy. They're the same dude. They both have this fixation with the trappings of their youth (drugs for Kerouac, shitty arcade games for Cline), they both write books about self-insert characters obsessed with said trappings, both books portray the said characters as utterly despondent and in a downward spiral that they come out of while the authors are on that same downward spiral but show no signs of recovery. Obviously Cline hasn't died of whatever the '80s-pop-culture equivalent of cirrhosis is, but if you look at the way he completely half-assed RP2, character-assassinating Wade and Halliday in the process, and how he's reacted to criticism of his books, I think it's not an awful stretch to say that Cline is to RP1 Wade as Kerouac is to Ray Smith or whatever that guy's name was just in terms of how their characters can overcome their flaws but the men themselves just can't.

any book recs?
SO MANY OMG ill try to recommend some non-booktok/not mainstream series and books.
ill go by genres:
first my favourite book series in the world and forever my favourite book series is the percy jackson series <333 idc thay its for kids it’s so fun and emotional and entertaining i love it. has my all time favourite fictional couple and fictional character (percy and percabeth)
fantasy:
the cruel prince series (holly black; YA), the political intrigue and character development in this series is so good! also has one of my favourite protagonists and book couple :)
falling kingdoms series (morgan rhodes; YA), again more political intrigue and it is a bit slow at first but the plot picks up. also this has multiple povs!!
lost boy (christina henry; YA/NA?), MADE ME CRY AND IDEK WHY. retelling of peter pan but in captain hooks pov (he used to be one of peters lost boys). finished it in one night
storm and fury (jennifer l. armentrout; YA), probably the only series from her ill read. really like the main character and romance :) did not read the last book tho if im being honest LMAO
poison study series (maria v. snyder; YA ish? leaning towards NA high fantasy), i ADORED the premise of this book and rlly enjoyed the characters, world building and plot. the romance is subtle but is there and it’s all around a really interesting and immersive read.
dystopian:
all these monsters duology (amy tintera; YA), i rlly adore the main characters and the romantic subplot🫶🫶
angelfall series (susan ee), ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED AND FUN DYSTOPIANS !! love the female mc + love the male lead + made me cry + angels = perfect. the romance in this was also so cute
mystery:
malice (keigo higashino; adult) so SO clever and hands down my favourite mystery book. if you like smart, nuanced mysteries that leave you guessing at every turn then this is the one!
the 7 deaths of evelyn hardcastle (stuart turton; adult). this book is my favourite stand-alone of all time and it is so unique, SOOO clever, and so fun. it’s basically a time-loop, clue-style, body-swapping murder mystery that i guarantee you won’t be able to guess the plot twist of.
the word is murder (anthony horowitz; adult), super cool concept that is executed well (in my opinion), enjoyed the narration and the actual mystery! unlikeable deuteragonist tho
the inmate (frieda mcfadden; adult), had me stressed out the entire book🧍🏻♀️ also had another plot twist i did NOT see coming at the very very end.
basically anything agatha christie, queen of mystery novels, but mostly: and then there was none, and any hercule poirot novel
contemporary romance:
y’all i don’t rlly like contemporary romance but kulti, the wall of winnipeg is me, wait for it, and lukov with love (all by mariana zapata) are very good!! they are slowburn romances and HEALTHY (!!!!!!!!) relationships.
historical fiction:
veronica speedwell series (deanna raybourn; YA), a badass lepidopterist, a hot grumpy taxidermist, a setting in victorian london, murder mysteries, and BANTER !!!! what else do you need?
stalking jack the ripper series (kerri maniscalco; YA). basically all that above except forensic scientists^^^ this series also has one of my favourite book couples ever and is overall incredibly entertaining and clever.
classics:
the iliad and the odyssey🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 (homer LMAO)
ANYWAY this was a lot but i hope i helped :) i love romance but mostly as a subplot because i enjoy plot-driven novels more (especially fantasy and mystery). some of these do center a bit on romance tho so if that’s what ur looking for then please feel free to check them out!

The activists were protesting the denial of voting rights to African Americans as well as the murder of 26-year-old activist Jimmie Lee Jackson, who had been fatally shot in the stomach by police during a peaceful protest just days before. The march was led by #JohnLewis of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (#SNCC) and Reverend #HoseaWilliams of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (#SCLC). The marchers crossed the #EdmundPettusBridge and found themselves facing a line of state and county officers poised to attack. When demonstrators did not promptly obey the officers' order to disband and turn back, troopers brutally attacked them on horseback, wielding weapons and chasing down fleeing men, women, and children. Dozens of civil rights activists were later hospitalized with severe injuries. Horrifying images of the violence were broadcast on national television, shocking many viewers and helping to rouse support for the civil rights cause. Activists organized another march two days later, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. urged supporters from throughout the country to come to Selma to join. Many heeded his call, and the events helped spur passage of the #VotingRightsAct of 1965 three months later. #thesaintsofselma #Vote #VotingRights #Blackliberation #WomensHistoryMonth #WhiteSupremacy https://www.instagram.com/p/CpahlB_uQhm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I'm a Pulitzer kinnie, but Livesies Pulitzer SPECIFICALLY when i analyze his character down to where the period is in one of his songs and also why he has two in the first place like yeah i get it, it's a musical but either I'm dumb or i genuinely can not remember the last musical i watched where the villain has two songs. Also (I think, this is my personal opinion don't murder me) He's not really the villain i would say that's Snyder after all Snyder's taking Crutchie caused the majority of the problems for Jack right upfront while Pulitzer was just trying to get more money and was annoyed as hell with this fuckin bisexual and his tall ass twink

poppies
by, theoctopigardener by theoctopigardener Racetrack has learned to expect the worst. If you can lose, you will. If you can get hurt, you will. He’s also learned how to embrace it. What is life without a little risk? Still, none of that can prepare him for this. Spot doesn’t have anything. He gave his life, innocence, and livelihood to someone who’s still mad at him for it. He has nobody, nothing. His only goal is to get his tributes through the arena. But when one of those tributes is the ‘someone’ mentioned above, well, what is he supposed to do with that? And when the talons of Joseph Pulitzer begin to tear their lives apart, will they escape the vines of poppies without choking to death?
